Speaker 1 (00:00):
First pitch to Julio now the right field line and a
third goal. It just sneaks fair. Taveratt scores. Rebot's races home.
Jolio tip toes in his second base and he has
put the Maritors in front early. It's a two run
double for Julio. Line drive past to lens in the
right field Volpie on his way. He will score the

(00:22):
Mingez into second base. It's a one run game. And
as Di Mingez blisters a double to the fence and
right field, here is Paul Goldschmidt and gold Schmidt cracks
the first pitch out to left field. One swing of
pinch hit, game tying home run. This is blasted. The

(00:45):
Yankees have taken the lead on an absolute bolt by
Aaron Judge.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
And that's how it aims.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
The Yankees come the Seattle, they take the series and
Aaron judge aintenning home run puts.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Him in front and helps him. This one's for you
to do.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Oh that's what it sounded like yesterday on Roots Sports,
Aaron Goldsmith with the call, Yeah, I was out there.
Back to back games for me Tuesday night, Wednesday afternoon
after our little three hour soare at Jimmy's on first,
and I gotta tell you, man, here's the good number one.
Luis Castillo. He was dealing. He was nasty, just like

(01:24):
Brian Wu was the night before. Back to back great
starts from your starters. That is the glass half full.
So let's give credit where credit is due. Luis Castillo,
I mean both him and Brian Wu. I mean they
were they. Aaron Judge couldn't touch either one of them.
Aaron Judge couln't touch either one of those guys. Obviously
we saw what happened later on in the game, but

(01:46):
those guys were unhittable, and Castillo was feeling it yesterday.
And I'm gonna give credit to Ken Griffy Junior yesterday
in center field and beginning of the game. Oh, I
mean Julio Rodriguez one of the probably the best catch
I've seen, webgem, whatever you want to call it in

(02:06):
baseball this season, epic, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Like defensively, Julio Numero Uno. I will not and.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
See I want to say anything bad about him defensively
when it comes to the Jay Rod squad. He is
that guy and he showed it yesterday and I was
just like holy crap, because I thought, oh man, here's
a great way to start the game. Huh No, Trent Grisham,
Julio Rodriguez gave his best league course, so.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Not so fast, my friend. That was I mean, that
was just sick.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
And so from that standpoint, I give all the credit
in the world. And he got towards the end of
the game, got into the bullpen, and one of the
things I wanted to look at going into this season.
So all right, aside from yesterday's game was we all

(03:03):
know the Mariner situation.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
It's no surprise to anybody.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
John Stanton doesn't want to spend a lot of money,
so Jerry Depoto has to follow his rules. We all
have masters to serve, so you don't see the product
on the field. So Pete Alonzo, Christian Walker, Alex Bragman,
those were big ticket items. But the one guy that
I wanted to see here in Seattle, and I think

(03:30):
where this is a team that obviously is going to
be we hope in the playoff hunt all season long.
The one guy I wanted to see here was Paul Goldschmidt.
I thought that was an attainable I mean, he did
get a one year twelve and a half million dollar
deal with the Yankees. But I felt like if you

(03:52):
could get Paul Goldschmidt to Seattle, that would have been awesome.
It would have been obviously nine million dollars more more
than they spent on Donovan Solano.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
I think worth it though, right right, I mean right?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
And her SARSI today for Christopher Kidden joining his deferred
honeymoon on going to Saint Martin, So right, right, anders,
I mean, Jesus.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Imagine imagine him in seid of Solana on the other
side of the first base platoon.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
My gosh, you're it's it's unbelievable. And I mean, like
that guy would a real like twelve I mean, and
he has a thing. It's not like this franchise is Pitchburg.
They can afford that. And that's not a really big ticket.

(04:39):
That is sort of by baseball terminology, may I which
I use the first day on the air here on Monday,
February tenth.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
That's a north Strom rack price.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah it is, right, yeah, right, I mean, let's be real,
that's not a big You're not does not want soda?

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Well, and I can understand if it's like a three
or four year deal, like, fine, we're not going to
give you that that that hand buckles us for a
little too but one year you can, you can spend
a little bit more than exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Thank you, thank you. One year. Yes, that would have
oh man, like ooh, that's them. I just wish they
would have put a little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
I'm glad they resigned Polanco and you know, but that
didn't cost too too much.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
It cost him less than just picking up his option exactly.
So that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
So you got that. All in all, though, the Mariners
showed one thing.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
If I'm gonna look at the glass half full, if
we get to October and there's a series against the
Yankees with a healthy Logan Gilbert, with a healthy George Kirby,
with maybe a healthy Victor Roebliss, Bryce Miller, Bryce Miller, Yeah,
I'm not gonna count too much on him in a
short series. I'm gonna rely on the reliables Gilbert, Kirby,

(05:53):
Wu and lou and Castillo. Those are the four guys
that I'm going with in a short series that the
Yankees I don't think can.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Not in the started pitching side, but they can match
the baseball, that's for sure. And their bullpen's good, pretty good. Yeah, yeah, oh,
there's no doubt.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
I mean, listen, they were able to able to make
Aaron Judge look somewhat pedestrian all series long until that
one pitch there. And with Argus, he he just he's
one of those. He's a boom er bus man. He's
got a little Shader Sanders in him. He's got a

(06:28):
little of that boom. But like, he's gonna have it
today and we've seen him have it. And then here's
my thing. So I don't even blame Bargas Dan Wilson,
Why are you pitching to him.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Right and like come behind me?

Speaker 4 (06:43):
I mean it's I don't even blame the Aaron Judge
at bat, it's the Paul gold Schmith one. That was
a terrible decision. We talked about this on our postgame
show yesterday right after it happened. There's no reason, h
And by the way, sal you give it plug your
post game show. Anyone who hasn't tuned in yet, we'd
love to have you on. It's on the Lockedown Mariners
YouTube page. Right after the final pitch of the game.
You guys can tune in and see me and Chris

(07:04):
Crawford go at it a little bit and have some fun.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, but yeah, yeah the gold Schmid Go ahead, tell
why didn't you like that?

Speaker 4 (07:11):
So Luis Castillo gives you six innings. Yes, he gave
us some hard contact in that sixth inning, he probably
needed to come out. So Dan Wilson goes to his
bullpen who's been one of his better bullpen pitchers recently.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Gabe Spire, no doubt, and I will never question bringing
Gabe Spier in the game. Ever. Hold on, I'm telling
you Gabe.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Bringing in Gabe Spier at that point was the wrong
choice because you're going up against j c Escara, who's
a left handed batter. If you bring Inspire, it's the
most obvious pinch hit situation of all time. Paul gold
Schmidt mashes left handed pitching, and he did exactly that
on the first pitch that gave Spire pitch to him.
So everyone, okay, who do you put instead of Gabe Spire?

(07:55):
You put in Carlos Vargas. Then you got to pitch
to two lefties after that. But Chris actually made this
really really good point yesterday. Leave in Luis Castillo, like
announced that Luis Castillo is still in the game, like,
don't take him out, but be ready. And then when
the Yankees inevitably pinch hit Austin Wells, who's a left

(08:15):
handed batter, and then the Mariners put in Gabe Spire
to go against that, they can't pinch hit for Wells
again because he's the only catcher left. So they wouldn't
have been able to put Golchman in the game if
it was just a mismanagement of the situation by Dan Wilson.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
And this is his first full season, yes, as the guy.
I mean, he took over last year. They've had a
really great record since then. They're you know, obviously going
into this series, they were up. They're averaging five runs
a game prior to this series as opposed to four
last year. You can't do that the other night, leaving
Hancock in there too long. That's that's a rookie mistake.

(08:54):
And and you know, I've been I've been a little
and I've had some people ask me I've been a
little bit, but I've been constructively critical, not overtly. But
that is something that I mean, and you left it
hanging up over the play. It almost looked like Aaron

(09:14):
Judge was in the home run derby at the All
Star Game. Yeah, that one was just like, oh my god.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
So you know, it's Dan Wilson's gonna have to, you know,
find those things in matchups. And he's gonna maybe Edgar
Kevin Sitzer or his bench go Woodworth. Are these guys
gonna have to say, hey, hey, listen here when we
do this, we don't want spyro in here. We don't
want him in here. You gotta be you know. And
that's Aaron Boone. It's not his first rodeo.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Well, and this is the difference between Dan Wilson and
you weren't here when Scott's Service was here. They managed
the game in different ways. Scott Service, i think many times,
tried to outthink the room. He would put in Munnos
in the eighth inning because you're going against like the
top of the order, and then it leaves an open
ninth inning. You don't know what's gonna happen, right, Wilson's
kind of made it very very clear that Munos is

(10:01):
our ninth inn guy, no.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Matter what part of the I'm good for it. I'm
here for that. I don't mind that either.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
But and and then many times Scott Service would be like, Okay,
so if I put this guy in, they're gonna pinch
hit this guy. So I want to put this guy
in so they don't pinch hit this guy. But last
night was just too obvious that if you put inspire,
they're gonna pinch hit gold Schmidt. I want to avoid
facing Paul Goldschmidt, the best hitter on their bench, as
much as I possibly can.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
And he's not having a great year.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean's all okay, but it's
always the threat, yes, because that guy they don't for
they don't forget how to hit.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
And when you know, when you bring it, I'm.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Like, yeah, you don't pitch to Aaron Judge. You just
don't do that. That's a no no. That's a big,
big freaking no no. And and they did, and they
did there in the top of the eighth, and I'm like, okay,
ball game that you just felt like the air was
taken out of the stadium.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Ballgame.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
And I mean, I credit listen, like I said Castillo, yep,
Brian MoU The night before these guys came through, they
just did the two well because they won the night before,
and they should have won if Dylan mor didn't throw
the ball.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
To the Husky Stadium. My god, so like that one.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
So but yesterday was a let's rewind the game back
to twenty twenty four. Yeah, it felt it looked like
a twenty twenty one. You got wit a second, Luis Castillo,
pitch great and you only put up two runs.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
It fit that yesterday looked like a twenty It kind
of felt like Scott's Servis was back yesterday. It looked
like a twenty twenty four game yesterday. And and it
sucks because you waste a tremendous quality start by Luis Castillo,
who can go out there at any moment, and he's
at his moments of this year, both good and bad.
But yesterday, dealing, I mean absolutely dealing and making Aaron

(11:54):
Judge look pedestrian is not easy to do.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
No, And it sucks that we're not talking about Castillo
and Julio right now, and we're talking about, you know,
the Aaron Judge and the ninth inning or the eighth
inning blunder and then the seventh inning before that. So
like Julio's amazing defensive play, his two run double, and
the fourth inning it was all the Mariners got offensively.
He had a pretty good series overall. He hit the
home run the night before. You know, he could have

(12:20):
gifted a home run to Trent Grisham, but I think
you just missed time that jump.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
But he's sure he made up for it yesterday.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
I mean, Jesus, it's tough to It's like defensively, it's
tough to really criticize anything he does defensively. Yes, I'm
still waiting to see it, and I want to see
it consistently offensively because I know he has the potential
to do that on a game in a game out basis,
we're waiting to see it. Looks like a star need
to play like a star every single game.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
So now it doesn't get any easier.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
And now you go on the road, and now you
have to face one of the best teams in Major
League Baseball. They are the San Diego Padres, and then
and then originally, Oh, by the way, for those of
you that I gave out the take Nick Pavetta on
Saturday versus Bryce Miller, don't do that. Bryce Miller won't
be pitching for at least a couple of weeks. So
you I mean, you may want to take Nick Pavetta anyway,

(13:11):
you should, Yeah, I mean anyway, but like, yeah, it's
not as much of a slam dunk as it was
if as Bryce Miller was pitching. And so now you've
got a long, long road trip. Three in San Diego,
three against the worst team in baseball, Chicago White Sox,
and then four against your rival Houston Astros at Minute

(13:33):
Made Park.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
That's a big series. It's a huge series.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
So it's a ten game road trip and not for nothing,
they come back after that for nine games. And it's
not the greatest home stand for NAT's twins Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Ooh, not exactly.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
It's not you know, Aaron Judge, it's not you know
Lindor and Soto and Pete a. Lonzo on the Meds.
It's but but that's good in the sense that take
care of business, have a winning road trip. I'm not
asking you to go ten and oh if you can go,
go maybe six and four. If not, get the split.

(14:15):
I mean, you shouldn't lose to the White Sox. No, No,
I mean they're they're that's inexcusable. Yeah, I absolutely agree.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
And I even that homestand that you talked about Baltimore
is not playing well, right, No, the.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
White Sox are just trash.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Yeah, I mean they're just it's it's really painful that
that is continued over into from last year. But San Diego,
this is another great litmus test for Dan Wilson has team.
How do you play against Tatise and Machado and Profar
and all these dudes that they got and they are
I mean San Diego right now, they could make them
run to the World Series. So no, they are and

(14:51):
and they when you're competing with the Dodgers in that divisi,
I mean that division is just it's ridiculous. And one
of the things, you know, having talked yesterday to call
from ESPN, and I've said this as well, the American
League is JV this year compared to the National Really
it just is, right. I mean, like, look at you
got the Mets, You've got the Cubs, You've got the
you know, the NL West Division, Dodgers, Padres Giants is

(15:14):
having a great year, the dim throw the Diamondbacks are good,
and you know Phillies will eventually you think turning around.
And then and the Atlanta. You know, we'll see what
happens there with them. It's so it's there for the taking.
I just wish that the Mariners would have put something
into this team. And and like Justin Turner said, and

(15:37):
maybe it was sour grapes. Been nice to just he
said Pete Alonso, I thought that was a little bit
big of of a ticket item. Now Pete didn't get
what he wanted because Scott Boris completely over estimated his
value and he ended up taking like pennies on the
dollar to go back to the Mets with his tail
between his legs. Paul Goldschmidt would have been nice, heer

(15:59):
for one year a rent a player just one year
instead of a hole in your lineup like Donovan Solano.
Yeah right, I mean, let's be honest here. That's so
all in all, we'll see. Well, there was something else
that happened. In case you've heard about it. The NFL
schedule came out. In case you didn't know, this came
out and and I'll get to why I love what

(16:24):
the NFL does.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
They rule the world.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
They have basically taken a monopoly of the entire world.
There's no deal like whatever's number two to distant second
being college football or the NBA. It's a distant number two.
The NFL's number one. But the constant leaks and everything,
it's like, do you really need to take attention away
from the NBA and ANHL playoffs?

Speaker 2 (16:45):
You got to own that too, I mean, you own
Christmas Day? Now, your own Christmas Day?

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Very selfish of that, I mean really, I mean, my lord,
So you know it's just like, come on, seriously, it's
just oh from that standpoint.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
So we'll get to the Seahawks schedule.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Anders and I will go at it at noon about
basically handicapping the schedule.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
It what's a win, what's a loss?

Speaker 3 (17:11):
I've only glanced and Anders and I haven't gone through
it before the show, So this is going to be.
I did go through Week one against the forty niners,
so I will go through that. Hugh Millan will join
us at eleven. Coming up next.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Is it the end? As Jim Morrison the Doors One said,
this is the end, my ownly friend, the end of
a potential dynasty. And wow, what's going on in these playoffs?
And what would you give to get a two time
MVP and former Finals MVP right here? Next on MJ

(17:46):
in the Midday Sports Radio ninety through three KJRM last
night in the NBA. As you can imagine people in
the text line, thanks for reminding me. Oh, by the way,
you're welcome.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Welcome on the over two oh seven and a half
way over on Nick Celtics, So you're welcome on that.
I hope you took my advice and you're listening when
I give you these picks out at eleven forty four
every day.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
I've been on a streak recently.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
The only loss I had recently was the other night
between the Nuggets and the Thunder because Michael Porter Junior
decide to basically turn into Tony Romo on the basketball
court and he was awful, just trash. So Nick took it.
We took it on the chin last night. Kudos the Celtics, man.
They came out and I'm like, you know, without their

(18:35):
best player. The one guy who is the biggest Knicks
killer is Derek White. Cannot find a way to stop
this guy. He is destroying it. Jalen Brown not worried
about him. Bayden Pritcher's been great six Man of the Year,
but last and Luke Cornett, you know, typical Boston white

(18:55):
guy comes off the bench relieving Porzingis, who has been
garbage in thirteen percent from three point range in the playoffs,
and Dukee comes off the bench. Last night literally had
seven or eight block shots. Seven or eight block shots.
But let me just say one thing, and this is
why the NBA, the way games are officiated, it's so shady.

(19:17):
In the third quarter last night, the NBA called not one,
not two, not three, not four, but five fouls on
Jalen Brunson five and one quarter.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
Anders have you ever seen that before?

Speaker 4 (19:31):
I have not, Uh, maybe at Draymond in his peak
peak years, not in one quarter.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Yeah, but I never.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Counted one, two, three, four five like Lebron James did
when he went to Miami.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
So I don't know, right, like but a one quarter?
And you know what purple sheet. I talked to him
about this. He goes, well, back in nineteen ninety three
versus the Suns, Frank Brokowski, m have gotten And I'm like, yeah, well,
first he said ninety four.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
I said, no, no, no, no, there was no conference finals
in ninety four.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Robert packin decam made sure that the round that was
the first right eight over one. But in ninety three,
and I'm like Rich Purple Sheet.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
You know what, Jalen Brunson is a little bit better
than Frank freakin Brakowski, just a little bit better than him.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
And I mean in one quarter now, the Knicks got
their ass kicked, so the fowls ended. But like when you,
he fouled out with seven and a half minutes left
in the game. So let me just tell you this
right now, I've got something coming up at eleven forty
four and I will guarantee it, so you do not
want to miss that.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
But yeah, yeah, and it won't be tolerable. I can
I can assure you that it won't be tolerable. Uh,
the end of a dynasty. It's over for Golden State.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
That window, that championship opportunity is finally over now. After
Durant left, I thought it was over. Yeah, and then
three years after he left, they did something Durant couldn't
do in Brooklyn and he couldn't do in Phoenix, which
has win a title against the Celtics when Steph Curry

(21:14):
won his only finals MVP. So I'm looking at the
Warriors since Durant left twenty twenty and twenty twenty one
missed the playoffs. Twenty twenty two won it all. Twenty
twenty three lost in the first round to who Excremento
Excremento Kings in the first round.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Last year, they didn't even make the playoffs. This year
they lost in the conference semifinals. You can just see it.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
And the guy, I mean, they made a trade before
the deadline, Jimmy Butler, playoff Jimmy in two games in
this series. Playoff Jimmy against the the t three games
in this series, he had seventeen, fourteen and seventeen last night.
The last two games he had fourteen and seventeen and
both of them in losses. Losses. Okay, So I mean

(22:12):
it is what it is. But you see when it
kind of you've seen it now and it could come
to an end for the Celtics tomorrow night really quickly.
Like Golden State's been doing this for now for over
a decade. I just think now that it's finally sort
of come to its conclusion and you can see it.

(22:34):
And I know Steph Curry was out for the last
couple of games, and it would have been maybe a
different store if he was there. I'm not saying they
couldn't have won. But Minnesota. Listen, how many times have
we seen this in sports? The young lion. You know,
there's that king on the top of the hill. That
lion's on top of the mountain, and that young lion

(22:55):
keeps coming and come and can't quite knock off the
old lion, and then the old finally gets knocked off.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
We've seen it.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
It happened when the Kobe and Shaq era with the
Lakers after they three peeded, when they lost to the
Spurs and three and they got beaten five games by
the Pistons and the finals and four and that was it.
It can go quickly. You saw it here in Seattle
with the Seahawks, right, I mean it, you know it.
You saw that, and you know that following year, you know,

(23:27):
you won a game and then you win on the
road and face Teddy Bridgewater in Minnesota, right in twenty fifteen,
if I'm not mistaken, that was that that season and
then and then they should have won that game, right
or they did within that game they lost to Carolina,
That's what it was. They did beat Teddy Bridgewater, they
lost to cam New right, yes, the doink that was yeah,

(23:47):
but you see that you're like, Okay, it's over. This
is sort of like I think now you're seeing it,
and I know not many people will shed tears here
in Seattle for Kaitlin to I think Alabama they didn't.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
They missed a twelve team playoff, a twelve team playoff
this year.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
With that, I know, it's the bores first season, but
you got all that talent, including a third round pick
in Jalen Milroe, one of the most athletic freaks in
college football, Ryan Williams, in an abundance of NFL talent
all over the place.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
And you don't make a twelve team playoff when Nick
Saban almost made it every year when it was a
fourteen playoff. You start to see when it's okay that
this is the end. It's time. Hey, the Rams went
all in. Wasn't that dynasty?

Speaker 3 (24:35):
They went all in for that one super Bowl that
they won four years ago, and then they knew they
had to re well, they didn't rebuild the reset. They
had to take their lumps for a little bit.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
But they're kind of back.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
They're back. Yeah, Well they're the best in the West.
To me, they're the Kings. They're the Kings. Well, they
are and the only team had a chance of beating
the Eagles last year.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
It's true, they're the only and Anders they got this
guy you might hurt of named Devonte Adams too. Oh yeah, yeah,
with Poka Nicola Yeah, and a McVeigh. And they just
have a system in place that the word rebuild is
not uttered down in LA and I know they don't

(25:15):
want to utter it and rent in either at the
Virginia Mason Athletics Center.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
And I don't think the Seahawks are rebuild. They just
reset a little bit. I love the reset I think
the Seahawks have had. And we'll get to them coming up.
But I but you see when dynasties all the Patriots,
they won six Super Bowls and Tom Brady's final pass
I was.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
I was in Boston.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
I was at the game against the Tennessee Titans in
the playoffs. He threw a pick six to Logan Ryan,
his former teammate, and you were just like, that's gonna
be the final play of Tom Brady in New England.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Huh, that's it? And and that was it. It was over. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Two years after that they made the playoffs with Mac Jones.
That was a complete for total anomaly in aberration should
never have happened, and now you start to.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
See it all go away. So it's the end.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
But I've got to pick for you coming up at
eleven forty four, And I hope you bet the over
on that Nick Celtics game last night that went.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
Way, way over way over Seattle.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
How about a former Seattle athlete is causing drama in
his new town.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
You might, Oh, well, you'll.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Find out next anders right here on MJ in the
Midday Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ R F m.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Oh by the way, this is a no garlic fry zone.
Do you like garlic fries but the smell of them? Yeah? Okay, good,
we're on the same page.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
I just I think the regular fry without ketchup with
a little bit of salt is the way to go.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
Sure, I love ketchup too, so I'm a ketchup. But
I just I was walking by yesterday. It wasn't as
punt as it was Tuesday night. Wasn't as bad, but
it was still a lot. I will tell you this.
I got an email from the Mariners. Mariners feedback, I'm
gonna I'm gonna put in there no more garlic fries.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
I'm gonna put that in there. No more garlic fries.
I have a hard time believing that's gonna happen. I well,
what you never know, but I will tell you this.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Went to the press box yesterday and got my first
little vanilla chocolate soft serve swirl next level elite, the
only thing.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
I'm an only child Andrews and met people out there.
I was kind of spoiled. I was coddled. So I'm
gonna admit this. Can we like they got the rainbow sprinkles,
which are great, they got the butterfinger toppings, and they
have I think it's like Oreo Orio. Can we get
the chocolate sprinkles? I like chocolate. I'm just asking maybe
I have to bring. Oh here's one more thing. This

(27:52):
is another thing for all of you, not just me
who hates garlic fries. Has nothing to do with garlic fries.
One more thing.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
At a ballpark, We've got to have golden spicy mustard.
There's no spicy mustard anywhere in t Mobile Park. So
I'm gonna have to go to a Panera Bread and
get some spice golden spicy mustard packs before I go
to my next Mariner's home game, I need the spicy mustard.

(28:20):
The yellow mustard is nowhere near as good on a
dog as the spicy mustard is.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Okay, I've said enough on that one. Yeah, so there's that,
all right.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Former Mariner Jared Klnick, all right, just so you know,
he's certainly not been lighting up since he left here
in Seattle. But he had a blunder on the bass pass.
He had a shot off the wall. He thought it
was going out, so we started to kind of do
his Joey Bats Jose Battista home run trot. He saw

(28:52):
it go off the wall and he instead of you know,
like trying to sprint it out, then he realized, uh.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Oh, it hits the wall.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
And then for Nets fans, you'll know two thousand Timo
Perez World Series against the Yankees, you'll remember that. If
you're not, then okay, but you've seen this enough times.
So he tried to turn it on and push for
second base instead of holding it at first and then
he was tagged out.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
So Ronald Kounye Junior came out and talked about the
video of the incident on Twitter X and he said, quote,
if it were me, they would take me out of
the game. Here's a Kunye and his translator with their apology,

(29:43):
which happened yesterday. Because you don't kind of want to
sell out one of your teammates.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
Just apologize and ask for us forgiveness for what I
posted and for being a distraction, and you know, just
wanted to clear the air and you know, move on.
I was just frustrated with my situation in the sense
of of the of my returning, being able to return
to the team. It just felt like I'm coming off
a second major major injury. You know, I'm in Florida,

(30:09):
away from my teammates, the team is struggling, so all
that those were the things that were sort of frustrating
me into that sense. And I've always just felt such
a strong sense of pride of being a member of
this organization. I want to be here my whole career,
and so it's it's just seeing the team and my
teammates going through that and again not being able to
help and not being able to be with them was

(30:31):
where the frustration was coming from.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Why did he take so long to make the apology.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
I have no idea, right, and I mean, what that
game about eight times in that clip.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
And this has nothing to do with team. This is
about you, Ronald mcunie. Let's hear that clip again. Okay,
let's hear that again. Yeah, you're right. Apology.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Jayson asked for forgiveness for what I posted and and
for being a distraction, and you know, just wanted to
clear the air and and you know, move on. I
was just frustrated with my situation in the sense of
of the of my returning, being able to return to
the team, and just felt like I'm coming off a
second major, major injury. You know, I'm in Florida, away

(31:08):
from my teammates. The team is struggling, so right, those
right sort of frustrating me into that sense. And I've
always just felt such a strong sense of pride of
being a member of this organization. I want to be
here my whole career, and so it's it's just seeing
the team and my teammates going through that and again
not being able to help and not being able to
be with them was where the frustration was coming.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
This guy won the MVP two years ago, he was
the MVP team. To listen, You're I'm not excusing Kelnick
because Kelnick, you should be running out every play.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
I don't care if you see it go over the wall.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
You should be sprinting around that base like you're freaking
Uh what was the guy? Uh the Olympics that was
like the fastest of all time. No, no, no, no, no,
the Reason Bowl, you should be you sain Bolt doing
that thing across like you.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
But first of all, he doesn't hit enough on runs
to do If Akune was truly contrite, you would have
done it right away. Yeah, how many weeks ago after
this is like at least a month ago?

Speaker 5 (32:09):
A month?

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yeah? Yeah, you are not sorry. No, you were not
sorry at all.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
And it is okay to be fair to Kunya. First
of all, I take him on the maritors instantly. So
if it does to blow up, oh yeah, no no no,
I mean if it does blow up, to like all,
I need to trade you.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
They won't do that. He's their superstar.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
But to be fair to him, like the treatment he
got because he did something similar, It wasn't like he
thought he had a home run. He was just kind
of jogging the bases. Uh. And there was a lack
of effort last year and the Braves manager benched him
because of it, and that didn't happen this time with
Jerry Kilnick. So there is a little bit of difference
of treatment here. I think that's another thing that Kunya

(32:49):
was frustrated with. But again, like, you can't say I'm
the reason I'm coming out and apologizing. The reason why
I was doing it was because of my like I
was frustrated with not being with the team.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
No, you're you're frustrated with your own person. That's a
half as apology. And by the way, it's completely totally disingenuous.
Come on.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
Also, like I understand, English isn't first language for a
lot of these guys, so I get a little bit
skeptical when I hear it through the translation.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
All right, you could hear.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
Him thinking like the should I say something different?

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Even though yeah said something different. Yeah that was a
little sanitized.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yeah, that was a little sanitized, just for everybody out
there right now. And I just want to say this that, okay, now,
if you're talking about Kelnick and about oh one that
got away, his war is minus zero point six this season.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
I've never a minus zero. I've seen zeros.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I've never seen a minus zero point six one sixty
seven average. I mean certainly did not at all hurt
this team. Now, in the beginning of the season, I
was looking at a guy I like Eugenio Suarez and saying, oh, oh,
it'd be nice to have him right now, and that

(34:06):
it sucked. But but yeah, but what's that That trade sucked?

Speaker 2 (34:10):
That trade was not good.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
No, no, but even with him zero point eight, he's
not exactly killing it.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
But he's got thirteen bombs are yeah, yeah, so what I.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Mean he's in your lineup, I mean thirteen bombs and
you know, like that would have been nice. And now
he's playing in the National League. And now, granted, is
he anywhere near as good defensively as Ben Williamson.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
No, no, no, not even close.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
But in terms of yeah, kell Nick, you should never
and do that and Akune.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Oh absolutely you want him? Yes, oh they will do it.
I know.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
I'm just like speculating. The same thing is with the
whole Dever situation, Like I was like, oh, Mayorge go
trade for him. They might blow that up, but no,
it's that he's staying in Boston. There's no way they
don't fix that up. E's superstar. The big thing with
Kellnick though, like I think if your guys. Remember he
was actually at one point a higher rate of prospect
than Julio Rodriguez.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Yes he because he came up through the Mets. Yes
he did. I remember it.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
So I think everyone like kind of really had super
high expectations for him. He kind of flamed out his
first couple of years. His third year was in twenty
twenty three. He actually had a decent, like good year
that then he got hurt and then that's when he
did the whole kick the I think it was a
bat or something that broke his toe and was like,
he's had some weird stuff happened to him, honestly, Jared Kelnick.

(35:23):
Then they ended up trading him, kind of dumping him
off to Atlanta, and everyone kind of thought, oh, he's
going to Atlanta, He's gonna absolutely light the world on fire.
That has not happened. No, you can, you can wipe
the sweat off your brow. It's all right. Jack Kelnick
isn't a superstar. A matter of fact, he's a complete bus.
He's worse than he was here.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yeah, all right, I'm gonna get some texts here on
the text line just to like just let people go,
all right, Oh that story was a month old, but
not the apology.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
That's what anders. The apology took a month, which is new.
That is new. The story is old, the apology is new,
and that's why it's so funny. And it took a
month to give an apology. Uh oh, this one, I
love this one could be the what do you say?
Text of the day.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
We haven't even hit twelve twenty five yet. Garlic fries
are the Browny James of the fry game.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Awful. I love it and I'm gonna take this one
too for the three six.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
So when you complain about garlic fries two days in
a row, you in fact are being the Karen Mark.
And I personally think garlic fries aren't that great either,
But it's been a tradition there over two decades now. Listen,
I guess it's just the smell of them that is
just obnoxious and it's ubiquitous and I can't take it.
It's the smell, like I can smell these things at

(36:41):
lumen Field when I was at Jimmy's on first if
I walked outside yesterday, I can smell those garlic fries.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
But yes, T Mobile does have some of the best
concession food, if not the best concession food in Major
League Baseball. I'd like to see. So let me just
add one more thing besides the spicy mustard. And I
saw this at all places Tropicicana Field. Maybe it's more
of a Southern thing.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Hot cashews, Oh never happened.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Oh and they got sugar on them. Oh my god,
they're to die for, to die for. How about this
one real quick, MJ and Andrews. You two are radio
goal tremendous show, natural and authentic and highly entertaining. You
too should have a joint show. This is great from
Brandon two six. Thank you Brandon. I appreciate that. And
Andrews does as well. I can assure you on that.
Coming up next, the guy we all appreciate QB one,

(37:31):
Hugh Millan. We're gonna go over the mayor, the Maritors,
the Seahawks schedule. What does it mean and what does
our QB one think of the schedule? That is finally,
thank you. NFL was released last night. Had to be
a big thing. And all those leaks, by the way,
they're all leaks from the NFL so they can get
in the media and more and more people talk about them.

(37:53):
Just in case you didn't know that. Hugh Millin next
on MJ in the Midday ninety three three KJR them
