wiggeds again, pushing ahead to Williams.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Watson with a bright play.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Gets the swop one of the elite shot blockers in
the league.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Strather takes it to the cop ws Brook.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
With the punch.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Jokich rested the first four minutes in seven seconds. He's
come back fresh and.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yoka from deep gives Denver a twelve point laid midway
point of the fourth quarter. Denver trying to force a
game seven, which would be in Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Sundays, Yokich upland down joll catch holding a pass. No
look to Christian pron the Yokich going.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Right back at him, just backing him down, looking him
move him out of the way. Strather puffed Horris the
Julian Strather game.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
We got a game seven in the West. Welcome everyone,
it's MJ in the midday right here on Sports Radio
ninety three to three KJR. Yes, how you feel in
Seattle after last night's win by the Denver Nuggets. The
Julian Strather game. Didn't have that one on my bingo

(01:08):
card going into last night, But yet, man, that dude
looked better than he ever did at Gonzaga. He came
and he was absolutely fire last night and propelled the
Nuggets to win that game one, nineteen one O seven

(01:29):
at home, comes off the bench and was just phenomenal.
Fifteen points in twenty minutes, just incredible. I did everything
and one of those guys. You need role players to
win a title, you need role players to win a series.

(01:50):
And last night Michael Porter actually showed up this time.
Unfortunately Aaron Gordon, the Nuggets third best player, did not.
But thankfully Jokich twenty nine, Jamal Murray twenty five. I
believe they're the first teammate combo to have twenty five,

(02:11):
five and five in a long time, going way way back.
They've done it a couple of times in this series.
There was a stat last night Christian Brown was awesome,
But did it make you feel really good? Now? From
a financial standpoint and a personal standpoint, I'm rooining for Denver,
you know, I'm definitely I want Yokich. I covered the

(02:32):
NBA Finals two years ago in Miami, saw the Nuggets
win it all. I think they have what it takes
to do it again to go all the way, winning
Game seven on the road, though, WHOA, Now you're going
into unchartered territory. It it's they call it the Thunderdome
for a reason down there, and that place is loud

(02:53):
as you know what, and they're gonna be coming. But
last night, did it make you feel good? Though? Just
to hate watch that and root for Denver, which I
know you will be on Saturday for Game seven, which
will be happening back in Oklahoma City, and that game
will be at local time here at twelve thirty. Oklahoma

(03:15):
City a seven and a half point favorite. So I'll
say this, and I said this to Purple Sheet before
the show. It was awesome last night. I'm glad everybody's happy.
Softy order to Denver Nuggets. I think could sweatshirt, he said,
I'll be there before the game on Sunday. It's awesome.

(03:37):
As if I'm putting my money on the line on Sunday.
I'm not betting against Oklahoma City. But that being said,
does it make you feel good? Just for so many reasons,
just to know having this franchise? Will the SuperSonics completely
ripped away? Eighteen years ago this June eighteen, seventeen years ago.

(04:02):
Seventeen years ago, there's June, and to know that it's
just you see that in your and I get it.
Listen that vitriol, animosity, hatred, everything that encompasses your deed.
It like everything that you can muster, detestation, whatever it

(04:28):
is that you have for Clay Bennett and Oklahoma City.
How did you feel after last night? I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I love watching the Joker just absolutely bully Chet Holmgren.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
It's such a fun watch.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
I honestly the Jokers one of my favorite players to
watch in the NBA, just because he does it in
such a different way than so many other players do.
And the fact that they're going against a Thunder too
just makes it that much sweeter. I have people I
know in Denver, whether it's our formal guy here, Kevin Shockey.
I got some other family there as well, so they're
all in on it. It's fun to see, you know,

(05:04):
another sports town get to enjoy playoff basketball. So I'm
kind of living vicariously through them. And you know, screw
the Thunder all the time, right, every single time. I
don't care how likable their players are. I don't care
that it's not their fault that the Sonics got ripped
away from us. I don't care. I can't see them win.
I just can't, right, No, I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
I just wish Game seven was in Denver.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
You know what, they'll make it that much sweeter with
all those like fake okay see fans okay, see okay
and just having their hearts absolutely ripped away once again.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
It don't feel that much sweeter. Oh it'll be so great, Yeah,
I hope. So I'm rooting for him. I am rooting
for Denver. You know. It's say, now, can they do it?
Of course they can. They have the best player in
the world. Yeah, and he can show just like he
showed two years ago when he should have won his
fourth straight MVP, but the media wanted to break it

(06:01):
up so they gave it to Joel Embiid. Jokers should
be a four time MVP, and now he has a
chance to show. Hey, the guy who's going to win
the regular season MVP, shake Gilgess Alexander. Here's what worries me.
Not only is it going to be on the road.
The second best player on OKC, Jalen Williams is not

(06:23):
gonna go three of sixteen at home. Nope. And that's
the thing that concerns the hell out of me. I mean,
that guy last night was almost playing for the Nuggets.
He really was. I mean, he was just bad. If
there was war in basketball, he would have had negative war. Yeah.
Well he had minus eight, so yeah, minus eight. But
believe it or not, there was some you know there's

(06:45):
Hartenstein had minus seventeen, so he was even worse. But
Jalen Williams three turnovers last night, just horrible game out
of him. But he did have ten assists, so I
gotta give him something there, so he when it wasn't working,
he was able to get it to the guys who could.
And and SGA had thirty two last night. But yeah,

(07:08):
I'm with you, Seattle. I'll be there. You know, I'll
be hoping twelve thirty on Sunday. That that. But do
you find sometimes I'm asking this question out there? You
can hit up the voice text line on the brand
new improved iHeart a Radio app. Look for ninety three
to three KJR the microphone icon button hit that, or

(07:30):
you can do the free agent undrafted text line at
four nine four five one. You can hit me up
my socials Mark James on Twitter, Mr C James and
m r C James Talk on Instagram dms always open.
Do you sometimes find yourself deriving enjoyment more from watching

(07:51):
the teams you hate the most lose then you actually
do watching your favorite team win in.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Some cases yes, right, yes don't you absolutely like especially
for me, especially like my example of that is college football, Okay,
me jo, I I'm a Hosky fan. I grew up.
We'll go into games all the time. But I didn't
go to you Dubbs, so I'm not. But you're from here.
It's yeah, you're from here, so you don't have to clarify,
you know. Yeah, but I grew up like three blocks

(08:19):
away from the stadium, so you really Yeah, And I
would go to games as if it was just another
professional team in the air, right.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Like you, and like Softy too, I mean Softie. They
should freaking put like the Dave Softie Maler press box
there at Husky Stadium, for crying out. Nobody's promoted that
program more than that guy has.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
Yeah, but I understand people who say, oh, be like,
because I didn't, I don't have the same drive towards
And it's not embreded in my heart as much as
like people who went there, who experienced their college.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Far fair enough, and I know what you mean. Any Yeah,
I listen, I so, but I want to hear, so,
what do you personally derive enjoyment more of hating.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
I have a feel where you're going, but I want
to hear you say it. It's the easiest answer of
all time. It's the University of Oregon. I like seeing
them lose more than I like seeing you dub win.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Well, Alicia minute, Absolutely, Ali absolutely, I like And I've
always said this.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
I And that's what made twenty twenty three so sweet
because it was both things happening at once, and both
teams were good.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Uh, well, didn't you know, don't you mean to? It
was so sweet because they swept them. Oh yeah, it
was very sweep.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
You're right, You're right.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
And I swept.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Football game that ever was playing. Oh it was such
a fun game, right, but yeah, no, it was. I
I always say I hate Oregon more than I love you,
dub so fair enough, that's but I think that's a
special case for me. Uh, there's a lot of other
ones where you know, I have strong feelings towards other teams,
but I still would rather my my favorite team win.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Yeah. Absolute example, but what's yours? But and glad you
asked for me. Now, I did go to the U,
so I you know, I have a degree from there.
But I hate watch Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas
as you know, And granted, nothing's better than watching the

(10:08):
U win. But that's a pretty close one. A. That's
a really close one a when those teams lose. Now, granted, Mark, hey,
well you must have hated Ohio State winning the national
title this year. Not really, because I bet on the
whole way and they won me a lot of money.
So if the hedge so, oh yeah, absolutely absolutely, are

(10:30):
you kidding me? So, no question about that. Also went
to undergrad Arkansas. I'm a razorback basketball fan. I hate Kentucky,
but I hate Duke and I just hate like the
oh I also hate Kansas, not as much as I
hate Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame. Now, I will tell
you in baseball, having grown up in the Northeast, I

(10:52):
grew up in Massachusetts and I grew up and I
you know, just telling the truth. I grew up a
Mets fan. I'm a Mets fan, but I want to
see the Mariners do well. There's no conflict of interest there.
So I always want the MS and do well except
where they're playing the Mets, which is only three games
this year and it's at City Field. Other than that,
I'm all for the MS. Okay, that being said, I
hate the Red Sox and I hate the freaking Yankees

(11:12):
so much. Oh I can understand the Yankees. Hey you
why the Socks? Well? I worked at Nesson and I
worked for them, and I worked for John Henry who
owns the Red Sox, the Globe, Nesson the Pittsburgh Penguins.
What doesn't he own him? Oh, he doesn't own the
Celtics or the Patriots. That's about what he doesn't own
in Boston. And when you see the way the sausage

(11:32):
is made, you have a different Well, you bet. I've
been on the inside looking out, and I just and
there's and like tonight, can I just ask one thing
of you, anders Pace and everybody in Seattle, And because
I'm gonna tell you something right now, let's just say
things don't go our way on Sunday and okase, who's

(11:52):
a seven and a half point favorite win that game?
And they might, I believe, So I need you, Seattle.
I'm root with you for Denver. But if it doesn't happen,
I think the team that has the best chance of
knocking off the Thunder in the end are my New
York Knicks, So please Seattle. I like tonight. I can't

(12:17):
even you didn't. Probably might not have noticed it because
I kind of played off I am right now. I
am so jittery and nervous for tonight's game. I went
out on Twitter the other night and you could see
it right there, I said, and I go go and
look it up. I put after it was a twenty
five point blowout, and I put it out there and

(12:38):
I'm standing by it. There will be a public funeral
for the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five Boston Celtics
at the Real Garden MSG on Friday Night. For everyone attending,
please wear black, so please if cause I'll tell you
right now, I don't think that Tea Wls will give
me a shot the Thunder. If the Thunder wins on Sunday,

(12:59):
t Wolves could give him a shot.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
I love the t Wolves like matchup against the Thunder,
I think, and Edwards is going to dominate that if
they if they move.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
On, okay, but if they don't. I think the team
out of the East has the best chance would be
the Knicks. Yeah, I agree with that. Okay, so root
for Can you root for the Knicks for tonight?

Speaker 4 (13:16):
I have I have ties to one Jessman McIntyre and oh,
well he's from New York.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, but she's a Celtics fan. Well because, yeah, but
she's a Mets fan. She should be, she was. She
grew up a Knicks fan, and she changed because she
got married.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
I know, I have no horse in the race. Okay,
I have no horse in the race.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
I don't. I just want to see the thunder lose
whoever is playing. Okay, well, I can tell you the
Celtics without Jason tam have no chance of being the Thunder.
So root for the Knicks. No road for the name
I forget? Well then f you Seattle, Seattle. Uh, let
me just say this, Seattle, right now, Please root for
the Knicks tonight. Please.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I'm very nervous right now. I'm somewhat the Celtics win,
they win the series. Oh oh, tonight's Game seven for
both teams. Yeah, okh oh, we're done. We're done if
we're losing. Yeah, Okay, now I'm hearing from some people
in the Northeast, and I don't know how much, but.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
I hm, I'm hearing that maybe the owner of the
Knicks thinks that he won an extra home game. And oh,
by the way, you might ask why, Well, here's the
reason why they're saying. This could be the highest priced
ticket in New York Knicks history. As of this morning,

(14:31):
the cheapest ticket for tonight's game is six hundred and
seventy three dollars to get you in the four hundred level.
The tickets could jump as high anywhere up to twenty
to twenty five thousand dollars. That's like a trailer in
Alabama you could go for just for a few hours.

(14:52):
You could buy a trailer in Alabama over going to
sit next near Spike Lee tonight for the Knick Celtics.
So if you hey, hey, I'm rooting for the Nuggets too. Now.
I also hedged on the Thunder when I was in
Vegas because I think the Thunder have a chance. But
I'm rooting for the I have the most financial interest
for me on the Thunder. I should be the Nuggets

(15:14):
to win it all when this series, win the Western
Conference Finals and win the NBA Finals. So I've got that.
I hedged on the thunder but h and by the way,
everyone out there, you're welcome for that over last night
on the thunder Nuggets. You're welcome on that one. On fire,
on that all right. Oh, I'm with you on hate watching, though.

(15:35):
Hate watching is something that it can can it can
control you. You're a big Star Wars guy. Oh yeah, yeah,
the eighth Yes, Emperor, the Emperor, yes, yes, palpins right, Palatine, yes, Palpatine, yes.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Yeah. Sith was so underrated. Oh my god, I was there.
I was there at twelve oh one.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I was. I was there now the first no Phantom
Menace and Clones sucked. Yeah, I like Phantom Menace. I
didn't like either one of them. Fine. On June whatever five,
on Thursday night into at twelve oh one am, I
was there with all the Star Wars dorks at AMC
Theaters at the Falls in Miami. I wasn't dressed up

(16:20):
to watch Revenge of the Sith and I was there
and it was one of the most underrated. It was amazing.
Love that movie. All right, we're gonna speak to uh
ty Dame Gonzalez coming up at the top of Next Hour,
the host of Locked on Mariner's podcast, to see if
this team which team is it? The team that won

(16:43):
eighteen out of twenty four the team went one in
five on the homestand and we'll also talk to Charles
Davis from the NFL Networking CBS on the Seahawks schedule
and their off season coming up. Next Andrews says a
question for me, and he has a question for all
of you out the MS. We'll get to that right
here on MJ in the midday ninety three to three.

(17:03):
kJ Artham. So the Mariners right now get ready for
a pivotal and I can't use that word enough, pivotal
ten game road trips starting tonight against one of the
best teams in baseball, the San Diego Padres. Do you
take five and five right now? I would, in a heartbeat,

(17:25):
in a heartbeats matter of fact, if the baseball God said,
you don't have to go on the road trip, will
just make you five and five on it. If I
were the Mariners, it would like take in a base
on balls, a walk, yes, yes, yes, we're good. I
thank you. We'll save everybody for the next ten I
mean they got ten games in ten days.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Yeah, I honestly, I wouldn't even be upset with four
and six, Like, you just got to kind of tread
water here and then come back and as long as
you do the job at home when you come back,
because that's where.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
The and you should because that's a week cost stand. Yeah, yeah,
it's a week home stand Nats twins and then Orioles
home stand. Yeah, so that's a week very weak home
stand that you can be able to take care of business.
But you know what, you've got to sweep the White Sox. Yeah,
but hopefully I don't. I just don't see you beating

(18:13):
Paveta No. And you know, Kolik's really good. He's got
a zero point zero zero e ra A, so he's
done some pretty good things. And if you take one
out of three against San Diego and you sweep the
White Sox, okay, you're five hundred, you're good. And then
the series against the Astros that you're hated team. By

(18:34):
the way, there's a team too. Do you ever hate
watch the Astros?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yeah, big time? Right.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
I still like Mariners wins more like, if you're telling me,
if i'd rather have the Mariners miss the playoffs, but
the Astros also missed the playoffs, or the Mariners make
the playoffs and the Astros make the playoffs. I'd take
the second one for sure. Uh but you know it,
it did. I I all, if the Marriors are out
of it, second bet second favorite team is going to
be playing the Astros fair enough.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
So yeah, okay, I can see that.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
I honestly, I've been like a little preemptively ahead of
the Astros demids, just just wishful thinking, hoping that they're
finally done, and I honestly think they are now. I
think they're finally done.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
You think, wait, wait, either've done this season or the dynasty.
Dynasty's done. But are they done this season?

Speaker 4 (19:20):
I don't want to say done for the season, because
I mean there's still a couple of games back to
the Mariners. They're still early. But I don't see them
as the main threat to the Mariners to win the ALS.
I see that as the Texas Rangers. So Rangers are
red hot. Yeah, they are really red hot. What they've won,
I believe six in a row. They're a half game.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Back and they are Oh I knew that team was
gonna I expected the A's to regress to regress to
the mean, which they have. I'm still not thinking the
Astros are out of it completely, just because they're competitive
and the fact that they've been doing this for so
many years. Even though Bregman's gone, Springer is gone, you know,

(20:00):
all these guys that were so intricate part of that
team and winning World series, multiple World Series titles, albeit
one with an asterisk, that they're still there and I
just don't care. And remember what they did last year,
you know, you just can never get that out of
your mind. But yeah, this is a huge series in

(20:23):
I'm just hoping that today and Albuquerque, the George Kirby's
hopeful final rehab start for Triple A Tacoma goes well, yeah,
and we can get him back up here next week
and then Logan over hopefully soon after that. Right yeah,
So then all of a sudden, it's almost like acquiring
two all stars. It's like, okay, all right, there you go.

(20:46):
And speaking of also, we were talking before the show,
and you had a great question.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
So this has been a question for a while now,
but I think the answer has changed because everyone talks
about the Mariners five starters, and you like them all
and it's probably top to bottom when they're all healthy's
I still take it as probably the best starting rotation
in baseball, top to bottom, and that includes when Bryce
Miller is healthy, because he obviously has not been to

(21:10):
start the season.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
So, and you're not talking, you're obviously seeing rotation not
open correct top to bottom one through five. Sure I
go with that.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Yeah, uh so my question is, as of now, if
everyone is healthy, you could take into account just this season.
You can take into account previous seasons as well. But
if you had to win a must wing game, say
there's still the game one sixty three and you need
to win that to go into the playoffs, who would
you want to set up to start that game at
this point? Who would you feel most comfortable with as

(21:38):
your starter?

Speaker 2 (21:39):
So I know you're not supposed to answer a question
with a question, and I have to ask, are we
talking about based on this season or just overall?

Speaker 4 (21:48):
I think you can take however however you want to
weigh it.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
I'm saying, is.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Every picture healthy? Yeah, Logan Gilbert, Okay, no doubt. I
think that's the obvious answer. Right, Probably is still the answer.
But I think there's a shout for Brian Wu at
this point.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
No, And based on this year, I was gonna say
it would have to be Wu. Yeah, he's been. He's
been amazing. He's an innings eater and he comes out there.
He's gonna give you six on any given night, and
that's what you want to see. And it's like, it's
it's refreshing to watch this guy and see what he
can do. And I saw him the other night. He
was filthy. He was dealing against the Yankees, and and

(22:25):
Judge and in Grisham they couldn't touch him. And and
so based on this year, I mean, he's got eight starts, uh,
and then six of it out of eight have been
quality starts, the best in the entire team.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
And I still think, I know he's I don't want
to say down. Year, just hasn't been as dominant as
we're used him seeing. I still think Luis Castillo in
the big moments, he saw it against the Yankees. He
always seems to have his best performances, whether it's in
the playoffs, whether it's a big series on the playoffs
against Toronto, even against Houston as well back in twenty

(23:04):
twenty two. I still I still have a weird confidence
with him, Like, if he's pitching in the big moment,
I think he's gonna do great. So you could give
an argument for each pitcher. We've seen George Kirby do
it at the highest level.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Who do you pick? I think.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
If everyone's healthy, If everyone's healthy, come on, it's pretty obvious.
I probably would go Gilbert, right, Probably would go Gilbert.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Yeah, but I okay.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
We actually had this conversation on our post game show
after the third Yankees game.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
And I think if you're it depends on what type
of performance you're looking for. If you're looking to you
just need you know you need at least six innings,
and you know you need like one and run. I
actually would probably go with Brian wou because you said
the stat before. He has the most quality starts on
the team. You know that's what he's gonna give you
every single time.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
But if you need to absolutely dominate a lineup, I
think Logan Gilbert gets the best opportunity to do that,
where you know he's going to go seven. He might
throw you a shutouts.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
It that's it. So he has a ceiling of all
of them.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
But there's also a couple of Logan Gilbert stinkers in there,
if you like, not.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Frequently, nobody's perfect, right exactly, Ivan Klayton, Kershaw on his prime,
exactly perfect.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
So you could say you could, like I said, you
could even throw George Kirby in there. We saw him
absolutely dominating against the Astros in twenty twenty two and
the eighteen zero zero eighteen inning zero zero game, So
you've seen all these guys do it at the top level.
This is where I think we've seen the offense start
off really really hot for the Mariners. I think that's
going to come down to earth, and you've seen the

(24:36):
pitching kind of start off mediocre. I think that's also
going to come back up. So I think those two
of those two are going to meet each other, and
if you can just squeeze out a little little bit
more on offense until those two guys comes back, I
think we're in great shape.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Oh I couldn't agree anymore. I really couldn't. And I
think as long as you get first Kirby and then
Gilbert back, this team could be and hopefully that there's
no The thing that worries me the most about Kirby
he hasn't thrown a pitch in a real game all season,
and I just wonder about the rust he's gonna take

(25:11):
some time, he's gonna you know what I mean, it's
very You come right in and it's like, I don't
expect him to be in mid season form and his
first start, so that's gonna be something that you look
at going forward. And it's just but uh, now, it's
a great question. Great question. Should I might have to
do a poll question on that. Who would you want
text line? Send us your thoughts. Yeah, starting a must
win game if everyone's healthy right now? Absolutely, four nine,

(25:33):
four five one coming up next. Yes, Well, there is
a big move in the media this week, but let's
just say that not everybody thinks it's so great. We'll
explain hitting the all fields next on MJ in the
midday Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ R FM.

(25:55):
One of the things I do love and admire about
the hard hitting, no punches pulled in your face sports
talk radio of the Northeast is that they degaff. They
degaff when it comes to anything. And WFAN's morning show

(26:18):
Boomer and Geo, Boomer Seizin and Greg Gianotti Geo went
on a rant because this week ESPN is hiring back
Rich Eisen to the World's Wide Leader in Bristol, and
I don't think he's gonna move there. But one of
the interesting things is they're going to put the Rich

(26:41):
Eisen Show counterprogramming on the ESPN APP two at the
same time of the Pat McAfee show. So Greg Gianotti, well,
I don't want to ruin the spoiler here, Let's just
say he has some thoughts on.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
That all this Rich Eyesen stuff that's out there. I
guess he's going back to ESPN.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Well, I mean, ESPN's in the midst of overtaking the
NFL network, so okay, you know it makes sense that
he would end up going back to ESPN because he
you know, he's the guy that was one of the
original starters of the NFL network.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
Yeah, and I just because over at the our Infinity
Sports Radio, I guess Rich Eysen is on there, and
then they get the people over there that are working here, like,
I wonder what that means you could still be on
with us or that whole thing. And then I saw
Pat McAfee made headlines was just like, oh, I guess
the ESPN is trying to send me a message putting
on Rich eyes in the same time that I'm on
and I'm like, man like, there's so much talk about
Rich Eisen. I mean that he's got to be the

(27:42):
most boring talk show host of America.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Why is everybody talking about it? Why is he get
all these chow because he left the ESPN.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Wasn't a little bit of controversy while he left it,
or he wasn't happy with the ESPN, And there was
this opportunity to do the NFL Network and he became
the sign your guy over there at the NFL Network.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
I understand, yes, and I remember that.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
And he was a good studio host, and he was
good at reading highlights and doing highlights on ESPN.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I mean the talk show is ambient, well the talk show,
the talk show is from a positve right there. Wow,
he called it radio ambient, all right? So I have
and I know a lot of people that have worked
in the Northeast of work in the Northeast and work

(28:33):
on the West coast. So Rich Eisen's good buddy and
a guy that he's always looked up to as like
a big brother in his career has been Dan Patrick
now dan Patrick. Obviously we know he's a Hall of Famer,
legend TV radio, best interviewer in the history of broadcasting period.
Exclamation point dropped the mic. Rich Eisen saw the thing

(28:57):
that Dan Patrick did leaving ESPN, and he had his
own radio show, and he had the what he called them,
the Danetes. Okay, and so rich Eisen's like, oh, I
want to do that. So about six years ago, five
or six years ago, I don't know how long it's been.
Quite frankly, I don't really pay attention to it. He
said he has big time guests on his show. I
will give that. I'm not gonna sit here and bag

(29:19):
on rich Eisen. The one thing I will say critical
of to be somewhat on the level where I'm agreeing
with Greg Gianotti. Rich Eisen does not do a radio
show that's on television. Rich Eisen's doing a TV show
that happens to be on radio. And you can tell

(29:40):
the difference. He's very monotone. He's not. You have to
have some hutspa, you have to have some you know
that it factor. You know, there's a guy who is
here prior to Purple Sheet, and I know very well
that hired Softy and Dick named Tom Lee. Tom Lee
would have this thing called the thirty second rule. He

(30:01):
would put in someone's We're going back here CD right,
CD now, MP three or listen to it, you give
him thirty seconds. If in thirty seconds they couldn't grab
Tom's attention, he threw it out the trash done. Rich
Eisen is one of the most talented broadcasters of all time.

(30:21):
You couldn't pay me to listen to his if you
call it radio show. He has big time guests, and
I give him credit. Now let's continue to hear because
greg Gy and Haughty keeps going on about this, well
the talk show. The talk show is more about pretty
much football, right, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
I just any clip that I see it feels like
they're doing a remote from a funeral home. I mean
it is. It could not be more boring. Okay, So
I hope there he's off Infinity Sports. When I heard
that the first time, I was like, what remember when
he hosted that Marconi Awards dinner too?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
All right, all right, stop that. Okay, so the bottom
body sounds like he's doing remote from a funeral Oh no,
do you no punch? That's Northeast Sports Radio and like,
I was in that toxic media environment for three years
in Boston. And believe you me, listen, I am thankful

(31:22):
for our text line here because none of y'all have
like basically, you know, said the things that were said
to me or about my mother or about my family
when I was in Boston, like the like. And I
will tell people, everybody thinks New York, especially Philadelphia, some
hardcore sports down and they are Boston makes them look

(31:42):
like Disney World and Universal Studios on a sunny day.
Boston is as vitriolic as it gets. So congrats to
Rich Eisen. I will tell you, if you're Pat McAfee,
you're not losing any sleep because here's the one thing
about Pat MacAfee that he has over ESPN. Pat McAfee

(32:03):
doesn't need ESPN. ESPN needs Pat McAfee. He is the
one of the biggest stars in the business right now,
this side of Stephen A. Smith, and he's killing it.
He's everywhere, He's ubiquitous, he's on WWE, he's everywhere. Well,
I like him, I like I the hangers on, I

(32:27):
like Darius Butler him, and I'm okay with aj Hawk
to a certain extent former athletes. The hangers on after that,
they're just no talent hacks that are basically riding Pat
McAfee's coat tails. That's it, you know what I'm saying,
Like if you were you know, like you're somebody, I'll
put you over, like you would be better on the

(32:48):
Pat McAfee show than the guys that are no talent
hacks that are on there with him, not named Daries
Butler and not named Ajhawk.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Does that include Aaron Rodgers? No, Aaron Rodgers is a guest.
He's he's a guest. He's a very weird guest. Yeah
that you know with that, so uh yeah, that's uh
not everybody's a fan of things that are going on.
But Pat mcahee's not losing any sleepover rich Eysen coming
to town, nor should he.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Nor should he. Pat, you're one of the best in
the world and you've won me over. And by the way,
he's on Game day two. How can I forget that?
He's on game He's everywhere, He's everywhere. He wants to
be the guy. He's gonna be in a movie coming
up soon with Peter Berg as the director. Uh oh,
I have a question for you coming up. Uh, last
night before I went to bed, wasn't on, but I

(33:36):
was scouring Netflix and I went in my list and
Black Mass was there. Now like, it's one of those
underrated movies that I like that didn't get the critical
acclaim that I feel it deserves. I want you to
think about a movie that you like, that you would
watch and you've seen it so many times, but didn't

(33:56):
quite get the critical claim that it should have. All Right,
Coming up next, we will talk for the first time
on MJ in the midday Tie Dane Gonzales will break
down the Mariners season thus far, and then Charles Davis
at the top of next hour, don't forget your nation
wide keyword to one another thousand dollars. Stay tuned for
that right here on MJ in the midday ninety three
