Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, there's a shot right out of the gate.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
JP Crawford on the first pitch fucks not fair into
the right field quarter and the Vender Cup is underway.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It's won nothing Mariners. It's pleasing plus well.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Get a light Rowdy t Lez has left the ballpark.
That's a two run homer to get the Mariners a
three nothing lead. Blah blah, left tip putting out on Raleigh.
This is Lockbridge back at the wall and that part
last gone. It's the third homer tonight for Seattle and
the Mariners thanks to cal Rawley.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, the.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Swinging mass in Seattle. Mariners take round one of the
Vendor count. They had three homers tonight. They beat the
Potreys five to one.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Rowdy tou Lz on the first pitch, a blast to
write sinner and this is gone rowdy to Liz has
homer in back to back games and times the score
of the fifth. Andrew Morrohan, left handed reliever, a high riser,
a true rain maker, and gone, wow, you want to

(01:11):
talk about up to the clouds cal rally has homer
in back to back games and has put the Maritors
in front in the seventh inning to the more into
left field basic cal Raley is into score.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
A Rose Arena paddles home. The throw is up the.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Line to cross for the Maritors, and it's a three
run lead. In the ninth inning, swinging bunts, it's.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
A fair ball.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Cal Rawley chases him down, flipped it to first base Muonio.
So four out saved and the Marators take the first
two under some rain in San Diego and they have
claimed a series win to begin the road trip.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
This is a bullet out to left.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Field, Randy a Rose Arena, see you later. He tied
the game on a screamer over the fence and left
even at one to Varus out to right field. Shut
this deep and it short hops the wall and goes
over the fence. The Mariners have taken the lead to
VARs with a ground rule double. It's a bad break

(02:19):
for the Mariners. Looked like they had a chance to
bring home another. This is fair right beyond the bag
at third base. Just tiptoe in the chalk and Mitch
Garver drives in the Mariners fourth run. A Rosarena scores
nice at bat by Mitch Garver. It's four to one
Mariners second and third.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Two ounce and on the hands, he popped him up.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
JP Crawford puts the squeeze on it, and the Mariners
win it today and they kick off this lengthy three
city road trip with a clean three games sweep as
they manhandle the Padres in their home ballpark, a final.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Score to day of six to one.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Well well, well, happy Monday on MJ in the midday.
What a montage put together by Anders Hearst. Holy ish man,
that was great. And I'll tell you betting man did
not see that this weekend. I was hoping to get
one of three, Yeah, one of three. Pavetta and Michael

(03:23):
King on the mound, I was hoping one of three.
Let's get out and then you sweep. Most impressive series
of the season for the Mariners, right, totally one of
the best teams in baseball. They beat their ass at
their part five to one, four to one, six to one.
Holy crap. I mean that was just unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Just this team.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Brian wu maybe the best looking guy in Major League Baseball. Seriously,
he's just so handsome. You look at the guy and
you're like, man, I'm ugly, but Denny comes out and
he just does he just like he's just been the
most consistent pitcher all season long for this team, and

(04:07):
he's kind of maybe. You know, we all talked about
going into the season. Obviously we know the Numero Uno.
You brought this up about last week. We did a
poll on it. Who do you want starting? We all
see Logan Gilbert, but I'll tell you, man, it's Brian
wu Is coming on and he is. Uh, the way
he pitched against the Yankees, you follow that up with

(04:28):
the way he pitched against the Padres against two really
of the best lineups in baseball.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Clean sweep, clean sweep.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Uh No, you know, like there was no issue on
the vetter Cup, which, by the way, feel free to explain.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
I looked it up.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
While I was listening to your tremendous montage to the
people out there, what the vetter cup is named after?
After the famous last name, So basically it's obviously Eddie Vedder.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Yeah, and he's been a resident of both Seattle and
San Diego, so both teams have like tried to claim
him as like were Eddie Vedder's team, and then they
made it kind of a big deal. Okay, so if
both are trying to claim me, let's do a whole competition.
So every year the Mariners play the Padres, it's it's
the Vetter Cup. Now, so whoever wins, I guess gets

(05:21):
to claim Eddie Vedder even though he's a Cubs fan.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Question right, I know, I was just gonna say that
he's a guy.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
So so he's like Drake. Yeah, he's got a bunch
of teams. Snoop Dogg, Snoop Dogg. He's wearing Raiders gear,
he's wearing Steelers gear, he's wearing Chiefs gear.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
He's yeah, it's it is what it is. But here's
the thing.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
The next time the city of San Diego ever comes
up with a cultural revolution like alternative grunge music, will
be the first I forget. With all due respect, I mean,
San Diego, you're the equivalent of Portland and Orlando.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
You're a one team sports town.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Okay, by the way, I feel, you're making me feel
good today, Andrews, because you're laughing and I'm not even
a funny guy, but I like the fact that you're laughing. Well, listen,
first and foremost, I am I am genuflecting today because
this team, First and foremost, they are absolutely fun to watch. Yeah,
they went one and five on the homestand and here's

(06:17):
another thing. They're better on the road than they are
at home. Thirteen and eight on the road, thirteen and
eleven at home. So they played more games at home,
but they have a better winning percentage on the road.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
I am I'm just in awe by this team. I
am in awe. And it all kicked off.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Here was the thing to me that if I had
to encapsulate the twenty twenty five Mariners in a nutshell,
let's go yesterday. Okay, we get to the fourth inning.
Cal Riley comes up, strikes out, Julio grounds out. It's
one nothing. Sandy Eagle and Michael King were making his

(06:57):
life easy at that point. I think he only had
twenty eight pitches something to that extent. His life was easy.
And then Randy a Rosarena comes up and hits this
freaking rope to left center to tie the game up.
And then it was Rowdy double Garver on the infield single.

(07:20):
Rowdy goes to third. Ta veris hitting the ground rule
double Wow. That looks like a great pickup by Jerry Depoto.
Miles Master Boney reaching on the infield single. Garver scores
taveras to third, and it was just like Wow. So
they put in three runs in the fourth inning, and
then the pitching just continue to get wu was unbelievable

(07:42):
all game long. They get to all the way to
the top of the ninth and they just shut them down.
And I got a little nervous with Vargas in there. Yeah,
I got a little nervous with him in there. But
he got out of trouble. He did get out of trouble.
And and I'm just saying to myself, this is the

(08:02):
best series they've played all season long. And here's the
great thing about it. No Logan Gilbert, no George Kirby,
no Victor Robliss, no Ryan Bliss. And they're doing it
in spite of everything. And it looks different than it
did a year ago when you couldn't get anything going.

(08:23):
When if a team went up to nothing, you're like, oh,
we're not coming back. There's no way we're gonna get
more than two. Right now, you're just like, forget about it.
And that to me, it was the fourth inning. All
of their runs in the fourth inning were with two outs.
Three runs in the fourth inning two outs. That changed
the whole game.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
Yeah, and the biggest thing for me about the difference
between this year in the last couple of years is
the offense. If you look at the talent, I'd say
it's probably slightly lower than the last couple of years overall.
But it's the approach that they're taking at the play.
It's the fact that you're going against these ace like pitchers,
the Nick Pavetta's, the Michael Kings. You could say the
same thing when we placed to Scoble Max Freed. Is

(09:03):
the game we won against the Yankees. Like all these
guys that have been dominating really really good lineups, we're
making life difficult for them and they're they're having trouble
getting through five innings. It's maybe the results aren't always there,
but it takes a toll throughout a series, throughout a month,
throughout an entire season. We get to their bullpen earlier.

(09:23):
It's battling through at bats when there's two strikes, Like
you said, two strikes, two outs. This team seems to
not give up like it has in years past. It
looks completely different than the last couple of years. Offensively,
it does.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
It does, and you can just see it and I
think you know, obviously three major reasons are Dan Wilson,
Eggar Martinez, Kevin Sitzer. Yeah, and especially because Edgar comes
back in the fold for the second time, and everything
just seems like where, Hey, you're down two nothing, no problem,
you're down three nothing. It's okay, it's not over. It's

(09:55):
just where let's just see what happens in I've got
to just really right now. And I know I get
your skepticism markets May baseball. We're still in May. This
is true, but just think any day now, knock on
wood or whatever. For Micah, this table is George Kirby's

(10:16):
coming back. And then in a couple of weeks we
can only hope and pray that Logan Gilbert's coming back.
And then you add those two all star pitchers to
the rotation with Brian Wu and it kind of can mask.
All right, well right now Bryce Miller on the il

(10:36):
not exactly, and I don't want to be remiss here.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
How about Logan Evans on Friday.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Night, Emerson Hancock on Saturday. Yeah, but Logan Evans went
seven six, He went six Okay, yeah, okay, all right,
he wins six?

Speaker 1 (10:49):
All right? Are you sure I'm almost positive? Okay?

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I thought he went seven on Friday night Andres, I'm
gonna call you on.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
That one, right.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
I'm looking it up right now. I'm pretty sure he
went seven on eighteen. He went seven oh six. You're right,
you know what it was.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I looked at the hits. I looked at the hits.
You're right. Six. But still that was great.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
You're right, six innings, we'll take six. You'll say, no
one runs. Yeah, I mean, it's like wow. So if
that guy can start to come on now and pick
up with the fact that Bryce Miller is out for
a little bit, then all of a sudden, now you
start to see things that are they're starting to develop.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
I understand the date today. I get it.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
It's May nineteenth, and we have the dog days of
summer coming up. We haven't even come close to the
All Star break, which is really past the halfway point
of the Major League Baseball season. But that was the
most impressive series of the entire season so far.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
And I just hope and just.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Please don't bleep it up against the White Sox, because
that's baseball.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
That's the god.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
The baseball gods are fickle bunch, and you could sweep
one of the best teams in baseball with Tatis and
Machado and Merrill and all those guys, and then all
of a sudden, you could come out and get swept.
By the way, I don't think it's gonna happen. It
better not happen. Just get at least two out of
three on the South side of Chicago.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Yeah, and a case in point, look what happened over
the weekend. The Los Angeles Angels swept the Los Angeles Dodgers. Right, so,
like right, that is that is just any classic example
of a team that should not be winning three out
of three against probably the best team in baseball.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
So these things happen. But I it's it's like you said,
it wasn't one of those fluky series. The Mariners dominated
this entire cultures the entire series. Pitching looks back on track.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
I think the first part of the season, it was
the offense that was carrying the team, and uh, since
the injuries have gone up with the pitching staff, it's
been like, okay, can we survive it and just kind
of score enough runs. But dude, they were. They were
dominant against a really good Padres lineup weekend long. That
was the biggest development for me.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
They were and to do it against because I you know,
a lot of people said for a while, oh, look
at the teams they've played and you on the road trip,
they weren't that impressive, and you know this, that and
the other. It's like, wait a second, hold on, how
the You know, the Santego Padres are one of the
best teams in baseball, and they are in the toughest
division in baseball, and they compete with the Dodgers. And
now the Giants are are good again. So you've got

(13:25):
to give credit where crezdu and when this team plays bad,
we'll be there to say it. But this weekend, if
you had told me that the marriage are going to
go in there and sweep them, I would have bet
everything and I would have lost, and I would.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Have been wrong.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
I would have been wrong. I did not see that coming.
One of the things unfortunately I did see yesterday. I
hope it was against It was the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Oh my lord, I know, I was. They were up
by ten in the first quarter. Yeah, I know, and
all of a sudden, it's like, what what happened? I
know they I think they said that.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
The thunder went on a forty seven to like thirteen
run or something like that, and it was it was
game over.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Series over, and it hurts. It hurts.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Now, obviously we hope here was a thing. They would
have had a chance if the game was in Denver,
it needed to be in Denver, but when that thing
was at Okay. See now, one of the things that
you mentioned last week that really pissed me off. There
was a stat last night on ESPN and it said

(14:36):
Thunder most paint points in a playoff game since nineteen
ninety eight. And I'm like, they weren't in Oklahoma City
in nineteen ninety eight. I mean, how do you even
count that? How can you eat?

Speaker 1 (14:49):
And I'm like, Wow, they're really gonna do that.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
They are They're gonna be like first Western Conference Finals
appearance since what was it ninety six?

Speaker 6 (14:58):
Probably?

Speaker 4 (15:00):
No, No, because the Thunder made it in twenty sixteen.
Oh you're right they lost in.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Right right right?

Speaker 4 (15:06):
So no, but you just hate to see that. So
I'm gonna say this right now to everybody out there.
Better route for ant Man and than Sea Wolves because
I knew it they could do it. They gotta win.
The best chance they have it doing it is pulling
a Knicks in the first two games in Boston. It'd
be great to get not just one, get to you

(15:30):
got you want to get to Ken. Of course they
can do it. They've got ant Man, they got Nasri,
they got of course from you dubbed Jaden McDaniels. They've
got Rudy Goberty. They've got so much talent. They can
definitely pull this thing off. And I think they you know,
I'm not saying they will, but they could it. Just man,
the thunder a wagon. And I knew, I said after

(15:52):
Game six on Thursday night, there's no chance in hell
Jalen Williams is gonna go three for eighteen from the
in game seven at home, and you just you're like,
uh oh, there's no way that's gonna happen. And they
were just getting chet home, Grid Hertenstein, they all these
gout dort.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
They're a wagon. They're an absolute wagon.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
The guy who's a GM here in Seattle for the
final season, Seattle, Sam Presty.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
He's one of the best in the world.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
He's unbelievable and he put it together and so go
t Wolves there and hopefully this team can can pull
it off. And I know everybody Tomorrow night, Tuesday night,
I mean Tuesday, Game one in Okac, and they've got
to come out and they I just hope My biggest

(16:39):
concern for Game one, I hope the rest doesn't turn
into rust. That's the worst thing that can happen, especially
in an NBA series. With his team's coming off and
they just played yesterday and they're hot, and they're but
you wonder maybe they celebrate. I don't know, but let's
just hope that tomorrow in Okac that ant Man in

(17:00):
the day start Softy botted Nuggets T shirt for came
in the mail.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
He said on Saturday, start buying.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
Your aunt Man jerseys now, buy them now, and start
rooting for them.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
All right, all right?

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Coming up next, this is what I want for the
city of Seattle. Something happened over the weekend, and I
want it and I want it to happen here in
the city of Seattle. Hey, ninety three three, KJR wants
to remind you that May is Military Appreciation Month. In
honor of that, we want to hear from those who
have served our country in the military, as well as

(17:33):
their families and loved ones throughout this week as we
approach Memorial Day. We want to invite those who have
served to share your names and where you served so
we can shout you out all week long. We invite
you to head over to the iHeartRadio app and ninety
three to three KJAR, hit that little microphone icon on
the app and tell us all about you all day.
On Friday, we'll be recognizing those in our community who

(17:56):
have served our country. What I want, what we need
for the city of Seattle. Next on MJ in the
midday on a Monday, a ninety three to three kJ rtham.
I don't have a problem with everybody going crazy, but
it's still the Eastern Conference semi finals, and everybody in

(18:22):
Midtown Manhattan was acting as if the Knicks had won
their first title. So if you're out there, I my
entire life having never experienced what it's like for my
favorite NBA team to win a world title. I wasn't
born the last time the Knicks won a world title,

(18:43):
which was nineteen seventy three. Okay, I wasn't born when
they won the title. So you know, if you're Softy,
if you're Ian, you got to experience the Sonics in
seventy nine. Softy was a young buck. But you got
to experience like you know, Lenny Wilkins and Dennis Johnson
and winning that title in seventy nine over the Washington

(19:07):
Bullets in a rematch of the finals the year before.
You got to experience that I've never and even though
you're really young, I've never experienced anything. Got to two
finals in my lifetime. One of them was a strike
shortened season, the other was ninety four. Anyway, each your crow, Boston.
We'll get to my picks coming up at eleven forty four,

(19:28):
and I hope some of you put the money down
because Lee Sterling and I together from Paramount Sports, when
we agree on a pick in these playoffs together, if
we if we collaborate and agree, we haven't lost a
game or undefeated.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
All right.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
So Knicks fans were celebrating like it was nineteen ninety nine. Literally,
there was a guy who was on top of a
billboard in New York City. I can't do it justice,
but he got on the top of the billboard somewhere
outside Madison Square Garden. And here's and I could just

(20:06):
tell you now and I'll get to why I equate
this to Seattle. Here's what it sounded like you can't
get a good enough sort of justice to hear it.
But this is the audio when he was on his
cell phone on top of a billboard, kidding.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Man, are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Men?

Speaker 1 (20:30):
The whole city would be made. Nay, all right, I
want that for Seattle so bad.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Oh with the Kraken in future NHL playoffs And obviously
still gotta have a coach. Who're gonna talk to? Everett
Fitzu coming up at the noon top of the noon hour,
Rick Tockett, He's going back to his former team that
he played for, the Philadelphia Flyers. He's not coming here.
There's talk of you know, I want jay Lee, There's

(21:00):
talk of Mitch Love but and then ultimately, ultimately when
we hope the day comes where the Green and Gold
and anders Hurst today is wearing a pretty sick Seattle
Sonics two thousands throwback four two thousand and four throwback

(21:22):
Ray Allen Jersey, and it is sick.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
It is It is just fire, absolutely fire. His drip
is just unreal.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
Oh wow, like all right, he got that he's pulling
off today And I just say so you watch it
and like the other night, Timothy Shallomey, who by the
way is one of the best actors.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
In the world. Yeah, but here's the thing. He grew
up of the biggest die hard Knicks fan.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
In twenty twelve, Anders on a certain station you might
have heard of called Wfan, which was the first ever
twenty four to sevens sports talk station, he won a
contest to go to a Knicks game. This was around
the Jeremy Lynn era that time. And he's like, Hi,
I'm Tim from New York. And he just went by

(22:12):
Tim Schalomey, not Timothee. I'm Tim from Manhattan. And he
called into sports like Wfan. So he's leaving in his
beautiful blacked out windows stretch Limo the other night, and
he rolls down the window and he sticks his entire
upper torso out and people are hugging him and kissing him.

(22:33):
I saying, oh, I want that here in Union Square.
Oh I want that here in Seattle. After a crow
and maybe we can celebrate after the Mariners. Maybe the
Mariners make a run to the postseason that we have
never seen since their inception in nineteen seventy seven. We
can see them make a run all the way to
the Fall Classic. That would be great. So I ask you,

(22:55):
and I want people on the text line and even
the voice text line Military Appreciation Month. I also want
you to turn the clock back with me right now.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
And what do you mean? What do I mean by that?

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Where were you in February of twenty fourteen after the
Hawks beat the living crap out of Peyton Manning and
the Denver Broncos forty three to eight. Where were you
and I? And at that moment were you out in
the city, were you in Union Square? Where were you

(23:31):
celebrating here in Seattle? And take me back to that time,
because you know, it was eleven years ago. It wasn't
an eternity, it wasn't yesterday.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
But where were you? Andrews?

Speaker 5 (23:41):
I had a watch party with the same people I
watched every playoff game with, so you had to have
the same people come.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Otherwise, were you in college? I was in high school? Okay,
y way, you're young. I'm going to say either. I
was gonna say I was the middle but okay, you
were a high school gay. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
So it was funny because we were very superstitious at
that point. We had to have all the same rituals.
We had to watch in the same place, the same
people had to come over and we went pretty nuts.
I think, you know, the moment that you knew was
gonna happen is when Percy Harvin runs back the kickoff
and started the second half. So you know that's that

(24:20):
that kind of solidified it because I think, all right,
we're not gonna let this happen. We're not gonna let
it come back happen after a dominant first half. But
my personal favorite moment of it was I think it
was the second drive for the Denver Broncos and Peyton
Manning throws a cross or to to Marus Thomas res
No no, and camp Chancellor just lays the hi, Yes,

(24:41):
I remember, and I was like, all right, that's the
tone center right there. That's what this game is gonna
be about. But I honestly the I don't really remember
the Super Bowl as much because I was just pure
euphoria the entire time. I have a bigger memory of
the NFC Championship game against the Niners because I have
a lot of family who are big Niners fans, and
we were. We had a feud at that point, so

(25:04):
I remember there being some contentious family.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
You remember being the Niners in the NFC Championship even
more in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
And honestly, if you ask any a Seahawks player from
that team that they'll say that's that was the real
super Bowl for sure that year. Yeah yeah, but you
needed to top it off. Oh yeah, you need to
top it off. Like and I listened. I said this
a purple sheet before the show today. I said, like, Okay,
I'm happy that my knicks are going to the Eastern

(25:35):
Conference finals. Will look like a bunch of losers if
we lose to Indiana, Yes, after that celebrations exactly will
look like a bunch of losers. Now you were a
party like that after going after winning the Eastern Conference
go for sure, sure, But but like I want that
for Seattle. Now it would happen before with the Kraken,
before the Sonics, because the Cracking are actually here, right,

(25:57):
They're a team, they're playing and it's gonna take a
long time to get to where Edmonton, Dallas, Carolina and
Florida are going to play over the course of the
next couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
But I want that for Seattle.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
So I'm asking you just and you know what, maybe
some of you and I won't call you old heads,
but some of you, you know a little bit older
guys in your forties, Like me, where were you when
the Sonics won the ninety six Western Conference Finals? Where
were you when you knew that you had a chance

(26:34):
to beat the greatest team in basketball history, the nineteen
ninety six Chicago Bulls who won seventy two games? Like,
how did you feel at your most euphoric moment at
that time?

Speaker 1 (26:48):
How did you feel?

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Like?

Speaker 1 (26:50):
What was that like for you? Just take me back
to that.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
I do the recency thing, because February fourteen was only
eleven years ago, and you.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Could take even farther back to seventy nine if you want,
you could go there. We could go there as well. Absolutely,
like you could do that.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
I mean, listen, there's a lot of things that Hey,
even even the Seahawks taking care of the Panthers in
the two thousand and five NFC Championship game with Mike
home grap even that Steve Smith, Yeah, how about that
he won the Triple Crown in receiving that year. But
he didn't win the Triple Crown that game, you know, Like,
I mean, just and if you saw any of the

(27:25):
celebration in Midtown Manhattan, New York City this weekend. Oh,
I want that so bad for here, and I want
it so bad for here, and I want it. I
want it to happen with the Kraken, with the Hawks,
with the Mariners. I'll tell you, man, there's something brewing
with this Mariners team. There's something brewing. And I feel

(27:46):
very confident as of today on May nineteenth, about the
over eighty six and a half wins.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Very confident, very confident.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Right now, they continue this up and they take care
of business in Chicago, right and then they come home.
They got a nine game homestand the Twins are pretty good.
They got the Twins the that's the Twins and the Orioles.
I'm starting to feel good.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
But they got one more before they come home in
four games in Houston.

Speaker 7 (28:15):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Oh, that's the big that's a big one too.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
That's a big one, and maybe put in not a
nail in the coffin, but make it very difficult for
that team.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (28:24):
That's a hum monumental series next weekend. Yes, that is huge.
That is a huge series in this weekend. YEP, this
coming up. So take me back to February twenty fourteen,
Super Bowl forty eight and what it was like for
you after and how were you out like wherever in
downtown and Union Square wherever you were? Were you there

(28:46):
at that like stadium and that feeling, or you were
the parade? Did you go to the parade? Oh yeah,
oh okay?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Like the coldest I've ever been in my life? But
was it worth it? Okay? Yes, So let's not like
Let's day was freezing? Okay?

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Yeah, but that's what Brandy's for, you know, listen, listen,
let me tell you a story. My my late father
may have soul rest in peace. We went to a
Patriots game and it was for reezing in November December
when I was really young. Yeah, and he's like, don't
tell your mother. I was probably eight or nine years old.
He's like, just take a swig of this and you'll
you'll stay warm throughout the game. It was Brandy, and

(29:22):
I was like, wow, this stuff's a little strong, but man,
I stayed.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
A little warm.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
It got me a little warm, like you remember things
like that, and you know it was just awesome. But
don't you want what you saw for this weekend in
New York City for here in Seattle, don't you.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
I just want it here. I want the Kraken to
get there.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
I want the Hawks, I want I would say the
team that we got the closest chance I mean to
get there before anybody are the Mariners. There's no doubt
about that. It's gotta be the Ms there. Out of
every team out there right now, the Ems could make
a run in October. All right, sour grapes, We understand
sour grapes and sore losers from fans, but from Hall

(30:05):
of famers. We'll get to that next on MJ and
the Midday Sports Radio ninety three to three kjr FM.
One thing that I sort of respect about guys who
have played in the league and guys who have won titles,
and guys who were in the Hall of Fame is
that if the Chicago Bulls, and they haven't done anything

(30:29):
really since Michael Jordan, they did go to the Eastern
Conference Finals about fourteen years ago, and they haven't even
been remotely close since. But let's just say back then.
Let's just say in twenty eleven, when the Chicago Bulls
lost to the Miami Heat in the twenty eleven Eastern
Conference Finals. What do you think the chances are that
Michael Jordan would have come out and just said, hey,

(30:51):
y'all got lucky.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
You're gonna lose next round in Oklahoma City. It just
it wouldn't happen.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
How about if the Patriots, which they won't ever get
anywhere any time, I'm soon close to where they used
to be with Brady and Belichick. Do you think Tom
Brady would record a video if the Patriots lost in
the playoffs to the Broncos or the chief saying, Hey, Broncos,
you got lucky. You know we still got six super
Bowls and that's three more than you'll that you have

(31:18):
and you'll ever get you You us wouldn't see that. Well,
not every former athlete and former guy whose jersey's retired
that's currently in the Hall of Fame is as classy.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
As the goats. And I'm speaking of one.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
Paul Pierce the truth after the game, he was all
in his feelings, Boston butt hurt, and here's what he
had to say.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
You know whatever, y'all, y'all, y'all, dall, New York is
on the Pacier's gonna pop.

Speaker 6 (31:48):
Y'all though, y'all know that right says it's gonna get y'all.

Speaker 7 (31:54):
So I don't even want to hear all that, like, yeah,
y'all feeling good, y'all beat the say y'all beat it,
y'all be an injured Celtics team.

Speaker 6 (32:03):
Y'all beat an injured Celtics team.

Speaker 7 (32:06):
Bro they didn't have our all NBA player, first MVP
candidate who led us in all these categories, So.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
You know whatever, A shout out to y'all on New York.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
I'm okay, Paul, you're better than that. At least I
thought you were. I mean, here's the thing. The Knicks
had to lead three to one with Tatum. They had
to lead three to one, They're up by nine when
Tatum got hurt with it like a minute and a
half left in the fourth quarter of Game four, they're
up three to one, and you can't play the well

(32:45):
we lost without Tatum. What did you do in game five?
You beat the crap out of the Knicks by twenty
five points without Tatum, So you can't say that, well,
we beat them in game five, Oh we didn't have
them in game six. It doesn't work that way. And
it's just like you gotta be better than that. I mean, please,
I understand you're upset. That's your team, that's the team
that you spent most of your career with until you

(33:07):
became a journeyman going out that played with the Nets
and the Oh what was he was he with the
Wizards and all these I don't even remember. He became
a journeyman after that. But come on, Paul, really, is
that that where you're gonna you're that's that's the hill
you're gonna die on, Paul. Oh, you beat him without
our best player. Come on, you were down three one

(33:28):
and in games one and two, your best player, the
guy who led you to a title last year, shrunk
like a turtle. Couldn't even get a shot off in
game two against Michale Bridges. So you had him in
games one and two at home, and you got and

(33:49):
you blew twenty point leads in both games. Don't come
at me now with oh we did. It's so weak,
it's so weak and pathetic. Yeah, it's if you guys
have seen the video. Anyone who's listening now, he has
a red solo cup of his hand. He's trying to
hide with in it. He Yeah, Okay, by the way,
thanks for the context he anders, thank you.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
He clearly is drinking his sorrows away the same time.
By the way, you know what, I didn't even notice that.
Oh I didn't even notice that. Okay, yeah, yeah, he's
a little down in the dumps. Okay, all right, So
well some context.

Speaker 5 (34:23):
That's why less than one never go post a video
or go live on Instagram or do whatever.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
You had a few that's right, well, and or or
when they said when you're hungry or you're mad, ye,
don't go on social media. Or for Paul Pierce, when
you're with ESPN and you're hanging out with a bunch
of strippers and you're uh, kind of smoking joints on
Instagram live, that's probably not something the worldwide leader of

(34:49):
sports and who's owned by Disney wants to be associated with.
So okay, you're right he did. So why not justifying
it at all? But I'm just explaining it fair enough.
You could hear it in his voice. He's just yeah, yeah,
I mean Paul Paul, like, come on, man, we can
we need to do better than that.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
We are better than that.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
You just like you can't listen. The Celtics got a
title last year and they were the best team, and
now things are changing. Now you know, Tatum's out all
next season. Now you're paying five guys their entire starting
lineup over twenty eight million dollars. You're gonna have to
find a way to part ways with some of those
salaries because it's just like, you know, just imagine right now,

(35:29):
Like you know what I mean, Like if after the
Seahawks beat the forty nine Ers in the twenty thirteen
NFC Championship Game of Jerry Rice does a video saying, oh, oh,
you all got lucky. Oh you're gonna get your asses
kicked by the Broncos in the Super Bowl. You know,
go but you know you're gonna get your asses kicked
by the Broncos in the Super Bowl, right?

Speaker 6 (35:48):
You know that?

Speaker 7 (35:49):
Right?

Speaker 4 (35:50):
I mean, come on, come on, be better than that.
But he was drinking, so I like you said, you're
not condoning it. No, it's like Chris Rock saying, and
you know, like the whole OJ thing he goes. You know,
I'm not saying. I can don't what OJ did.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
But I understand I understand.

Speaker 4 (36:14):
Like it's like, Okay, when you're drinking, it changes your
It's sort of and I get it, man, I mean
that was hey. Jalen Brown said it best after the
game when he was interviewed, and he said, losing to
the Knicks feels like death, and it probably did. And
I gotta tell you too, And I can't prove this.
He filed out Anders with seven and a half minutes

(36:35):
left in the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
What thirty point games, right, right? But I don't. I
just think he wanted off the court.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
He did because that last where he got called that
sixth foul, he could have easily not and he he
he fell for the brunts and fake which he knew
was coming and he could And I just think he
wanted out. He was like he's tapping out, like they
get him in the arm bar. He's tapping out. I'm done,
We're in the arm bar. So you know all the

(37:02):
winning pick for you coming up at the top of
next hour, coming up next.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Well, well, well whoa whoe, whoa whoa Anders?

Speaker 4 (37:13):
And I gave you our wins and losses for the
twenty twenty five Seattle Seahawks, where we think that they
will rank excuse me, whoa they will finish?

Speaker 1 (37:24):
We both had eleven and six. Who but this could
surprise you.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
A certain publication came out with their NFL Power rankings
post schedule release. You're not gonna want You're not gonna
wanna miss where they have the Hawks ranked.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
It might shock you.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
