all game long. They get to all the way to
the top of the ninth and they just shut them down.
And I got a little nervous with Vargas in there. Yeah,
I got a little nervous with him in there. But
he got out of trouble. He did get out of trouble.
And and I'm just saying to myself, this is the

best series they've played all season long. And here's the
great thing about it. No Logan Gilbert, no George Kirby,
no Victor Robliss, no Ryan Bliss. And they're doing it
in spite of everything. And it looks different than it
did a year ago when you couldn't get anything going.

When if a team went up to nothing, you're like, oh,
we're not coming back. There's no way we're gonna get
more than two. Right now, you're just like, forget about it.
And that to me, it was the fourth inning. All
of their runs in the fourth inning were with two outs.
Three runs in the fourth inning two outs. That changed
the whole game.

Yeah, and the biggest thing for me about the difference
between this year in the last couple of years is
the offense. If you look at the talent, I'd say
it's probably slightly lower than the last couple of years overall.
But it's the approach that they're taking at the play.
It's the fact that you're going against these ace like pitchers,
the Nick Pavetta's, the Michael Kings. You could say the
same thing when we placed to Scoble Max Freed. Is

the game we won against the Yankees. Like all these
guys that have been dominating really really good lineups, we're
making life difficult for them and they're they're having trouble
getting through five innings. It's maybe the results aren't always there,
but it takes a toll throughout a series, throughout a month,
throughout an entire season. We get to their bullpen earlier.

It's battling through at bats when there's two strikes, Like
you said, two strikes, two outs. This team seems to
not give up like it has in years past. It
looks completely different than the last couple of years. Offensively,
it does.

think you know, obviously three major reasons are Dan Wilson,
Eggar Martinez, Kevin Sitzer. Yeah, and especially because Edgar comes
back in the fold for the second time, and everything

It's May nineteenth, and we have the dog days of
summer coming up. We haven't even come close to the
All Star break, which is really past the halfway point
of the Major League Baseball season. But that was the
most impressive series of the entire season so far.

Please don't bleep it up against the White Sox, because
that's baseball.

The baseball gods are fickle bunch, and you could sweep
one of the best teams in baseball with Tatis and
Machado and Merrill and all those guys, and then all
of a sudden, you could come out and get swept.
By the way, I don't think it's gonna happen. It
better not happen. Just get at least two out of
three on the South side of Chicago.

Yeah, and a case in point, look what happened over
the weekend. The Los Angeles Angels swept the Los Angeles Dodgers. Right, so,
like right, that is that is just any classic example
of a team that should not be winning three out
of three against probably the best team in baseball.

So these things happen. But I it's it's like you said,
it wasn't one of those fluky series. The Mariners dominated
this entire cultures the entire series. Pitching looks back on track.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
I think the first part of the season, it was
the offense that was carrying the team, and uh, since
the injuries have gone up with the pitching staff, it's
been like, okay, can we survive it and just kind
of score enough runs. But dude, they were. They were
dominant against a really good Padres lineup weekend long. That
was the biggest development for me.

They were and to do it against because I you know,
a lot of people said for a while, oh, look
at the teams they've played and you on the road trip,
they weren't that impressive, and you know this, that and
the other. It's like, wait a second, hold on, how
the You know, the Santego Padres are one of the
best teams in baseball, and they are in the toughest
division in baseball, and they compete with the Dodgers. And
now the Giants are are good again. So you've got

to give credit where crezdu and when this team plays bad,
we'll be there to say it. But this weekend, if
you had told me that the marriage are going to
go in there and sweep them, I would have bet
everything and I would have lost, and I would.

ninety eight. And I'm like, they weren't in Oklahoma City

and maybe we can celebrate after the Mariners. Maybe the
Mariners make a run to the postseason that we have

I'm happy that my knicks are going to the Eastern

between this year in the last couple of years is
the offense. If you look at the talent, I'd say
it's probably slightly lower than the last couple of years overall.

and maybe we can celebrate after the Mariners. Maybe the

watched every playoff game with, so you had to have
the same people come.

So it was funny because we were very superstitious at
that point. We had to have all the same rituals.
We had to watch in the same place, the same
people had to come over and we went pretty nuts.
I think, you know, the moment that you knew was
gonna happen is when Percy Harvin runs back the kickoff
and started the second half. So you know that's that

that kind of solidified it because I think, all right,
we're not gonna let this happen. We're not gonna let
it come back happen after a dominant first half. But
my personal favorite moment of it was I think it
was the second drive for the Denver Broncos and Peyton

I remember, and I was like, all right, that's the
tone center right there. That's what this game is gonna
be about. But I honestly the I don't really remember
the Super Bowl as much because I was just pure
euphoria the entire time. I have a bigger memory of
the NFC Championship game against the Niners because I have
a lot of family who are big Niners fans, and
we were. We had a feud at that point, so

I remember there being some contentious family.

You remember being the Niners in the NFC Championship even
more in the Super Bowl.

And honestly, if you ask any a Seahawks player from
that team that they'll say that's that was the real
super Bowl for sure that year. Yeah yeah, but you
needed to top it off. Oh yeah, you need to
top it off. Like and I listened. I said this
a purple sheet before the show today. I said, like, Okay,
I'm happy that my knicks are going to the Eastern

Conference finals. Will look like a bunch of losers if
we lose to Indiana, Yes, after that celebrations exactly will

party like that after going after winning the Eastern Conference
go for sure, sure, But but like I want that
for Seattle. Now it would happen before with the Kraken,
before the Sonics, because the Cracking are actually here, right,

They're a team, they're playing and it's gonna take a
long time to get to where Edmonton, Dallas, Carolina and
Florida are going to play over the course of the
next couple of weeks.

some of you and I won't call you old heads,

One thing that I sort of respect about guys who
have played in the league and guys who have won titles,
and guys who were in the Hall of Fame is
that if the Chicago Bulls, and they haven't done anything

Conference Finals about fourteen years ago, and they haven't even
been remotely close since. But let's just say back then.
Let's just say in twenty eleven, when the Chicago Bulls
lost to the Miami Heat in the twenty eleven Eastern
Conference Finals. What do you think the chances are that
Michael Jordan would have come out and just said, hey,
