Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, everyone, this is Mark James. You're listening to MJ
in the midday, and first and foremost, I want to
sincerely apologize for my actions which transpired on Tuesday. And
I want to personally apologize to Ryan Roland Smith and
Luke Arkins, because neither one of them deserved what I did.
(00:23):
It was absolutely unprofessional, it was reprehensible, it was inexcusable.
I also want to apologize to everybody out there and
the listening audience in Seattle. I'm new here and it's
taking me a long time to find the way to
(00:45):
get acclimated. And that was not me. That is certainly
not someone that my family, my father would be proud of.
And all I ask of you is to I ask
for your forgiveness, and I hope everybody out there that
I can gain your trust, including the local media, especially
(01:08):
Ryan and Luke personally, and my colleagues here at KJR.
I do not speak for them. This was on me.
I'm the one who did this, and I need a
to learn a valuable lesson, and I will take this
as someone who has a lot of work to do.
I'm a very flawed individual and I'm not someone who
(01:33):
this is not indicative of the type of human being
that I am. So I ask you Seattle to give
me a chance, and hopefully, in time I will earn
your trust and you will forgive me and understand that
something as unprofessional and unacceptable as I did does not
(01:57):
define who I am. So with that being said, I'm
sorry to Luke, I'm sorry to Ryan. I apologize personally
to them. I am sorry to the listening audience and
to everybody that's made KJR an unbelievable station for decades.
And I hope one day that I can earn your
(02:21):
trust back, but I have a lot of work to
do to get there. So I apologize and I'm sorry.

(03:04):
executive producer, Christopher Kid, who's coming back off a week
vacation and came into a firestorm. So Kid, this is
not an indictment of you. The actions of one loud
mouthed idiot like myself does not speak for you. So
I am sorry to you personally. Chris.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
All good, ma, Gi Let's move forward, have fun like
we always have. And yeah, just let's just let's move forward,
mat It's all you can do in a situation, right, So.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
That's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to move
forward as a human being, and I will tell you
that it's going to take a lot of work for
me to get there. So just one day at a time.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
How was your vacation, Oh, Sunburnt, it was great. I
had a good time Paradix. That's what it was like
out there. It was a little cloudy, but it was
still warm weather, beautiful scenery. The ladies check plus as well,
the food double check plus. I had a lot of
virgin drinks, so another check plus. It was it was
(04:04):
a great trip, great time to get away and be
with my wife and just enjoy time, you know.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, was that that was your sort of deferred honeymoon.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, you know, we caught that. Yeah, so yeah, it
was really good being out in the sun on the beach,
getting cooked by the sun and then get back to
the hotel and just crashing because you know, I'm not
gonna lie being in that sun. It drains you, it does.
So that was that was a blast. I would encourage
everyone to go on a vacation wherever that is now
until you know what time it is when it gets
(04:32):
a little cloudy out here, go on your vacations. Enjoy
time with family, friends, whoever it is. Enjoy those moments.
So I'd recommend it. I know people are probably already,
maybe someone's listening on a Way to Vacation. Great book,
another one. It's always good to get out, so great vacation.
Great time off was long enough. I'm one of those
people that after about day five I kind of like, yeah,
(04:53):
I want to get Yeah. So it was it was
just right. It was perfect. It wasn't too long six
days out there, excuse me.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It was great.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
So just just enough time for me, So it was perfect.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Did you get to watch any of the NBA playoff games?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Kidding me? I hate I'm sorry, I know you lived there, Mark.
I hated the times because at eight thirty pm, you know, oh,
you're on the West coast, the game's almost over. You know,
that's perfect timing. Every now and then you get the
seven thirty start. That's cool, seven thirty. That's my limit.
Eight forty five, eight fifty two starts. All right, brother,
we'll be doing that. That was tough for me. I'm
(05:28):
not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
It's not fun.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
It was very challenging. I don't know how the people
in the East do it, so salute to all y'all
out there that live over there, and I've been doing
it your entire life. I could not do it. I
was struggling to watch the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
It was just that hard for me. Against Oklahoma, it
was very tough, but I made it through, finished the game.
They handle business. Sorry Sonic fans, but that was tough.
(05:53):
And then on the plane back it was great. Shout
out to jet Blue, A responsored jack Master gets aunt ship.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Yeah, shout out to jet Blue.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I was able to enjoy the game flying home, so
I got to see Holla Burton's amazing clutch shot of
the Oh that was that was amazing.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I don't. That was not amazing for me. Sorry, I
that was that that that actually was a fitting point
to my day yesterday. That that was a fitting point.
And uh and then he did the choke sign and
then Reggie and Reggie Miller is which I I didn't.
I'm not a big fan of T and T pudding
because it makes Reggie Miller sort of the focal point,
(06:31):
but which he is now, but I mean, he might
as well call him Reggie Miller. Two point zero was discussed.
I mean, Chris, have you ever seen a shot hit
the back of a rim, bounce up to the top
of the ceiling and then come down in sweat and then
at first you're thinking, and I'm thinking, oh, it's over.
(06:53):
There was a three, but you know what, it was
over because the Knicks didn't have anything left in overtime.
It's a bad matchup. And I can just tell you
one guy who is I mean, we know what Halliburton,
we know what Miles Turner Aaron Nesmith is. You can't
how did the Celtics give this guy up? I will
(07:16):
never ever know. I mean the Clippers gave yeah, yeah, yeah,
I saw something which I didn't know that. Uh, do
you know the Charlotte Hornets. Now in the NBA draft,
they have given up now because they were the ones
and I forgot this. They trade. They drafted Shay Gildas
Alexander and they traded him to LA and they traded
(07:41):
Kobe Bryant to the Lakers. They traded two MVPs. And
if Shay Gildess Alexander continues on this trajectory, he will
be a Hall of Famer like the late great Kobe Bryant. So,
but the NBA playoffs, and even if I understand that,
you know people here are salty at the NBA, you
(08:03):
have every reason to do so. But if you don't,
you gotta watch the Knicks Pacer series because this thing
is gonna be. You just need to buckle up and
get your popcorn ready, because this series, this series is good.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I got Nicks in six, baby.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You do, I do? Yeah. They blew it. They blew
that game.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
They blew it.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
They're not gonna bear that. More confident than I am.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
They have any man.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Sorry, I know that's your no, No, I mean, you're
I just I how do you Chris there? This team
is just the The Knicks had a fourteen point three
forty four to go in the game.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I know, I know, I watched. I watched it, and
I'm thinking, there's no way the Pacers are going to
do this again.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
They just kept coming and that's to me a huge
credit also not only to the guys on the court,
but Rick Carlisle. This is I mean unbelievable. And I'm
not gonna sit here today and say that Tibbs. You know,
Tibbs wat Tibbs didn't lose the game. Here's the thing
about it, the Knicks have upgraded their defense in the
playoffs from what it was in the regular season. You
(09:04):
can't blow a fourteen point lead with three minutes and
forty four seconds left in a in a conference finals
game at home. You can't do that. That's something you
cannot do. So it uh for me that uh man,
that was just wow. I tell you they're a bad matchup.
(09:27):
They just the relentless, They don't stop, they keep going.
It's like the Knick score and before you blink an eye,
here's Matherin Turner Nie Smith Haliburton draining threes, getting to
an open spot in the floor, and it's like it's
just like that. You're going at it with and I
(09:48):
think Tibbs needs to muck up the game. I think
he needs to to make it half court and muck
it up. And you know, finals, one thirty eight, one
thirty five. It was like an All Star game last night.
It was that was unbelievable, but it was. I could
see it when the shot went in that hit the
(10:09):
back of the rim and almost went to the roof
of Madison Square. Garden I said, even though it's only tying,
the game sent into overtime, the next we're done.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
I got faith, though, I got really.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Well, you got more faith than a lot of people
right now. And let's pivot to this. How's the faith
and the mamors? You know, I see a three and
a half game league. Yeah, they're taken on the ash
of tonight.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
So this is a it's not a huge matchup, but
I think we can all.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Agree it's this is a tone setter, right, It's huge.
Chris there. They're better on the road than they were
at home. They're fifteen to nine on the road. They're
road warriors, Okay, road warriors. And guess who's coming back tonight,
mister Kirby. George Kirby's gonna make his twenty twenty five
Major League season debut George Kirby. So that's a sight
(10:56):
for sore eyes. We need to see that. And then yesterday, wow,
what can you say? There they are and then Leode
Taveres with a two run bomb in the eighth inning,
Mariners down, take a six to five lead, and then,
of course, how about the bullpen. Carlos Vargas and Andre
(11:17):
s Munos retire six of the last seven hitters to
close it out. And this team is just on a roll.
And you look at the series. I was gonna be
happy if they win five and five. Oh, like I was.
They're five and one. Now if they don't, you know,
they if they don't come back with seven wins, at
(11:40):
least get a split in Houston. At least a split.
You're disappointed. You seven and three. Nothing less than seven
and three. They gotta be seven to three. But this team,
it's different now. The night before when they lost one
nothing and they went against Lawrence and he was pitching great,
and they could not get anything, and Mitch Garver left
his bat on his shoulder like Carlos Beltran in the
(12:01):
two thousand and six National League Championship Series. That looked
like the twenty twenty four Mariners, Chris that was down
two nothing, three to one, and they couldn't hit water
if they fell out of the boat. Now you're seeing Tavaris,
a guy that they got off waivers within their own
division from the Texas Rangers. And it's got to be
(12:26):
the Dan Wilson effect. Man, it's him. He's he's he's
the major difference because they're not even getting the pitching
that they got a year ago, because Kirby hasn't pitched
all season until tonight, and then Gilbert's been hurt for
close to a month now. And and now you got
obviously Bryce Miller on the il He's not the same
(12:47):
player he was the this season. He's only he's had
eight stars and none of them had been quality, I think,
none of them. And all of a sudden, now this
team is a team that it's their division to lose it.
To me, it's the Manner's Division, and go there, at
least get the split, come home seven to three road trip.
(13:11):
But if you can get three out of four, Wow,
that's a whole three out of four there and you
come home eight in two. That's that to me, is
saying that this team is now I understand. And Greg
greg Bell was in here the other day and he said, hey,
ten game lead last year in June, and we were
Craig said, we were talking about starting rotation. Who was
(13:35):
gonna get throw in Game one of the AL s
and and then the Divisional series and then and maybe
if they get to the championship series, who's gonna throw there?
And then July happened, and then August happened in September,
and by that time, but ever since Dan Wilson has
taken over, the Mariners have the best record in baseball.
(13:58):
And ever since the rant that I did Jimmy's on
first on Wednesday, April ninth, before the Businessman Special against
the Houston Astros when they blew well, they they couldn't
win an extra innings, ever since that this team has
the best record and best winning percentage in all of
Major League Baseball. So hey, all I know is that
(14:21):
whatever happened that night, and whatever was said in the
clubhouse by Dan Wilson, by Edgar Martinez, by Kevin Seitzer,
who knows, maybe the players, maybe it was maybe the
players had a players only meeting. Something happened after that
game that night, and that was the inflection point to
the season.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Yeah, this team is it's fun, this is what fans
have been wanting forever. Now it's more about can you
hang on to it as we get into July August.
That's the next step for this team, because I think
they will end up doing seven and three. Eight and
two would not be a.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Right and two in a road trip. I mean, especially
you know.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
The World War w so that would back up your point.
But I think at this point that's that's something that
they're they're eyeing in on. Okay, we've been in this
situation before. Ten game lead. We have a nice lead
right now, three and a half games. Let's let's stretch
it out. But then as you get into those summer months,
let's continue to stretch it out. Let's keep it going.
Let's get a run. Let's get a run here going
in the postseason, and get our pitching staff to where
(15:20):
it was last season. Because the offense has been I
think we can all say thumbs up.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yes for the most part, it has you know what
the yeah, no, but the bullpen recently they've been lights
out and last night they were and you know, here
and here's The most impressive thing about the Manners, which
we we knew, you know, them winning nine consecutive series.
It wasn't going to turn into eighteen. That nine consecutive
winning series is enough on its own merit. But here's
(15:46):
what impresses me the most about them. They come home,
they lose five out of six of Toronto and the Yankees,
and then they go on the road against one of
the best teams in baseball and they can and they
sweep them, the Padres, and I'm saying, holy crap. And
then then on Sunday, they're going up against one of
the best pitchers in Major League Baseball who's gonna make
(16:06):
a lot of money this offseason when he's a free agent,
in Michael King. And King's just on fire. I mean
he's I think he only threw like thirty four pitches
through the first three innings, and they got to him,
I believe, in the fourth inning of that game, and
they tagged them and they got them out of the game.
And they go on to beat the Padres going away,
(16:27):
they sweep them. Then they go to the White Sox
and listen, I'm gonna say this for the White Sox
being the worst team in Major League Baseball at fifteen
and thirty five, they've got a pretty good starting pitching
staff and if they can ever turn I mean, I'm
watching them this and this thing, and they lost their
ace and Garrett Crochet, So kudos to the Mariners. They
(16:49):
are fifteen and nine on the road this season, and
they are for whatever reason. And even Julio, Julio's batting
app bridge is forty forty five points higher on the
road than it is at home. So it tells you
that maybe that when they get together, there's a huge
(17:11):
chemistry and all of a sudden they galvanized the troops
and they're obviously you can tell they love playing together,
and just we didn't see it on Tuesday night when
they couldn't, you know, get in a run and they
got shut out. But yesterday three home runs, Julio leeds
off the game with a three run blast, and they
(17:34):
just find a way to get in situational clutch hitting.
That's what you gotta do, situational clutch hitting and finding
you know, you can't rely on the pitching staff to
do what they did last year. And it reminded me
a lot of the like after the two thousand season
from like two thousand through twenty ten of the Baltimore Ravens.
(17:58):
They didn't have a to back and they drafted Joe
Flacco on eight. But the defense would play their asses off,
could hold teams to under sixteen points, maybe even ten
points a lot of games, and they couldn't score. And
then finally Joe Flacco was able to take them. And
now I'm seeing that this Mariners team now, I don't
(18:19):
know what's going on, but it looks different. It just
looks different, and it looks like this team at now.
I would be disappointed if they don't make the postseason.
That's how great that they've been, especially on the road.
I know, I know I wanted to. I remember we
did a couple of weeks ago. I go, remember we
did a whole day eat your crow on me and
(18:40):
I played the ramps, said I meeting my crow, and
the text sizes like Mark, don't eat your crow yet.
You haven't been here long enough. You don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
We'll take it a you know, we'll enjoy where they
are now, and we'll just keep the progress every week.
Let's not jump too far. That's what I'm saying, because
I remember what it was like getting into July and
watching it all crumble.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Yeah, and now Kirby has been on the IL all
season long shut down on March seventh, and his last
start for Triple A to Comba last Friday. He allowed
four runs and ten hits, but he didn't walk a
batter and his fastball was topping off at ninety seven
miles an hour. So there's a guy who if he
(19:23):
can come back and literally be that literal shot in
the arm. And then you get Logan Gilbert back. That's
like being Ohio State and getting two unbelievable portal transfers
like Ryan Williams and you know from Alabama. During the
season it's like whoa, I mean, what's going on here?
And then so that's when those guys come back to
(19:45):
solidify the rotation. Now the question becomes, what's gonna happen
with Logan Evans, Bryce Miller. How long do they keep
him on the IL because something clearly is not right
with him. It's not at all. So could joint practices
b returning for the Seattle Seahawks. We'll find out next
right here on MJ and the Midday and Sports Radio
(20:07):
ninety three three kJ R FM Third So remember last
year or they they had their first joint practices in
over thirty years with the Tennessee Titans under Pete Carroll,
and you know they, I don't know, they were hoping
that maybe there would be some I don't want joint
practices with Vegas. That's not something I don't that's a
(20:28):
little too well, you don't want not well, First of all,
I don't think Pete and Gino would want it either,
do you?
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Why Why wouldn't they? You tell me why they wouldn't
want it?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
I want there could be some bad blood that could be.
That's what you want, right, But not in practices, kid,
you want that in practices? Man, Yes, it's I don't
want any button getting hurt. Man, let me ask for you,
don't I listen? I love it. Let me ask you
this because you just came back today. Do you do
you want the best players in the NFL to play
(20:59):
in the summer for flag football?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
I saw that you guys talked about it yesterday. Right,
there's a So this is an interesting one because I'm
not really worried about injuries, but I'm worried about the effort.
And I think when you look at flag football, it's
kind of the laugh at you sport, especially if you're
doing it professionally. No one cares, no one takes it seriously.
(21:22):
So who are the players that are gonna want to
do that.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
With Justin Jefferson he came out and said he wants to.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Do it, and it's funny that I didn't know he
said that.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
He said he was with Roger Goodell. He goes, it's
been my dream to win a gold medal. How about
your dream to get past wild card weekend?
Speaker 2 (21:37):
We'll see and rights, But this is another sport though,
right right, flag football in twenty years could be a
professional sport. I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing,
but that's where it's going right now. You're seeing girls
in high school being able to play it. You're seeing
it all over. It's springing up. This in twenty years
could be a college sport where kids get a scholarship
(21:59):
to go play flag foot. I don't know how it's
gonna affect table football because we love grid irons sport
and that's something we've all gone on.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Wait, wait, we just hope that doesn't because the game
has been obviously will sified so much.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
But you bring in flag and it eliminates that because
it's you can still be physical.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
So there's no helmets in flag football though, but there's
no helmets obviously, no helmets, no heils, but there's no
no helmet condoms, none of that. Okay, good thing.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Is I think too will be fine in this league. Okay, Okay,
So I think it's an opportunity. To your point though,
how about making out the wild cards? So there are
going to be a fan based that like what do
you what are you doing? But this is representing your country, right,
kind of like with the NBA and what they do. Sure,
Joel embiid, right, a guy that during the regular season,
(22:43):
he's not dependable, right, I think you can agree to that.
He's a guy that will miss a lot of time.
But you know what he did in the Olympic Games.
He showed up. And I'm not saying he's right to
do that. I'm wrong to do an NBA and vice versa.
You know, you know what's weird, Chris how him?
Speaker 1 (23:00):
No player and NBA players has been doing this since
like nineteen ninety two. We haven't seen Oh no, wasn't
there didn't did something once happen to a Maverick player
and Mark Cuban put his foot down and said no more.
Was it Dirk or somebody that was from another foreign
country and he was playing for his country in the Olympics.
(23:20):
And Mark Cuban came out and he stomped his foot
and he you know, so there's here's the thing, joint practices.
I don't want these guys going, you know, full on
bore and like you're you're gonna strap up like you're
doing Sunday at one o'clock. They do, though, well, okay, fair,
(23:41):
But then, like I mean, I don't want Vegas. Vegas.
There's to me, you know what that's like. Let me
tell you what that's like right now with Vegas. Let's
just I'm glad I brought this up too. So let's
say the Seahawks have a joint practice with Vegas. You
know what that's like. Here's an analogy. It's like your
ex girlfriend that you just broke up with three months
(24:04):
ago and you said, you know what, let's go on
a double date. That would be awkward, that would be
really weird. I don't want to do that. I don't
want to like that to me is something that I
you know, no, thank you on that. For me, that's
just not in Vegas. I mean, I would be shocked
(24:26):
if John Schneider agrees to that. I don't think it
would happen. I think Green Bay is fine, and you
know what, hey, maybe green Bay and Seattle can sort
of correlate. And Seattle, who apparently is not against the
quarterback push as I'll call it, green Bay, we know
they are the poster child for banning that thing. And
they only fell to vote short, Chris to vote short,
(24:49):
which you know as well as I do those I
have a feeling the next time this rolls around, and
I read yesterday this is a really I mean, at
least my analogy about going on a double date with
your ex girlfriend three months or four months after you
broke up is a good analogy. Did you see the
analogy that Jeffrey Lourie, the Eagles owner, brought up when
(25:13):
he talked about it's he literally said, it's like a
teenage boy having a quote wet dream. He said that
to the owners, and then Troy Vinton said, hey, there
are women here in this room, and and you know
so I'm like, yeah, bro, you better work on that analogy.
That's not exactly something that I think this one. No, no,
(25:34):
I'm it's just yeah. So it's like when I read
that yesterday, I was like, oh man, that's that's not good.
It's uh. He came out and he said it was
a win. Oh this is what he said. Quote. Towards
the end of the speech that lasted close to an hour,
Lurie made an analogy, telling the room that regardless of
(25:55):
whether the play was banned, it was a quote win
win for the Eagles, adding that it was like a
wet dream for a teenage boy end quote to create
a play that was so successful. The only way for
it was for it to be banned. The only way
for it to be stopped was to be banned. And
then Troy Vincent, the NFL executive vice president of Player
(26:16):
of Football Operations, he came out and he just obviously
admonished him for making that. You know, there were some
scattered laughs there. And but I'll tell you what, next year,
that thing is gone. Well, it's gone. You can tell it.
They got twenty two many.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
What if they lose though, does that help you think?
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Let's say, if they get less votes next year because
they lose though, because if they win I think I
think if they win another Super Bowl, the touch players
are gonna be a heavy reason as to why they
got that far. I would guess if they get less
votes next year, then it's not it's gonna stay. If
they get less than twenty two votes next year and
it doesn't go like the band go through, it's gonna
(26:55):
it's gonna stay here because to me, twenty two was
pretty close. It's like, you know, and we all know
that our own Mike Comgren should be in the Hall
of Fame, and he was close, and we know, well,
the next vote he better dan well be in the
freaking can't in Pro Football Hall of Fame. But I
feel if they do this next year and they don't
it doesn't go through, then I think it's gonna stick
(27:20):
around for a long time and less it you know,
it's you know what it takes. It takes. It takes
people like Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft. When those guys
are ones that speak up, things get done, they seem
to lead the room. So I I uh. San Francisco
(27:40):
forty nine Ers owner Jed York asks Lurie how much
more ish did he need to say? And then I
guess the room kind of laughed at that, and then
Goodell then adjourned to the quote privileged session. So, uh,
I'm disappointed, and we're gonna talk to Hugh mill in
r QB one coming up at the top of next hour.
(28:00):
And I don't spoiler alert. You've heard you enough times.
He can speak for himself. I don't need to Hugh.
I'm just gonna say, Hugh, push push, I'm leaving the studio,
you know what. I'm out. I'll see you next. I'll
see coming up at the top. We've got coming up
next with tease. I'm like, I'm just gonna let you go.
(28:22):
He's gonna go, and it's man, it's uh yeah that
I it's just not a football play. It's round rugby.
It's not Australian rus football. It's not a football play.
And that's why I think it shouldn't be there. Now.
It's polarizing, but there's a lot of things, there's a
lot of things that.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
Gogles just gotta lose. They lose, doesn't matter. I don't
think if they win another Super Bowl, I think that
puts pressure, like.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Oh yeah, yeah, they go back to back, they run
it back. I think it's done.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
It has to be. Yeah, I don't see how it can,
especially because that's how they when it's third and one
fourth and inches third and inches, third and two they
run it. It's I think eighty but I don't remember
the press.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
At it. It's pretty much unstoppable. I mean it is.
I mean, when you got a quarterback that squats six
hundred pounds like Jalen Hurts does, it's unstoppable. Man. You
just can't. It's just it's absolutely unstoppable. And and I
get it, and I'm surprised that because they said the
teams who supported it and the teams who didn't want it. Now,
(29:34):
the teams obviously we know Green Bay was leading the charge. Okay,
green Bay was the they were the uh, they were
the team that were leading the charge of it to
be banned, and which I totally get. I mean, I
don't understand. And then it was let's see here, Oh,
no teams that voted in favor of it. Oh, this
was the this was the biggest thing about it. Teams
(29:56):
who voted in favor to keep the tush push zones.
Dolphins obviously, the team who's pretty much perfected it, who
invented this thing. The Eagles, the Jags, the Jets, Lions, Patriots, Ravens,
Saints and Titans. Guess what they all have in common? Kid?
None of them play Philly next year. Yeah yeah, yeah,
(30:16):
I mean none of them play Philadelphia. So it's uh, which,
you know, I don't like it. I really thought that
green Bay was gonna win this one. I thought the
Packers were going to do it. And then how about
the social media troll job by the Packers official I'm
not Packers Eagles official media account where they said push
(30:39):
on and they showed them against green Bay lining up
it said push on? Whoa if that was not a
Stone col Steve Austin double middle finger salute to them? Whoa?
I mean, this this has gotten really personal. And hey,
if it helps the Hawks, I'm all for it. That's
the I want to see the Hawks do it. I
(31:00):
want to see Jalen Milroe. Let's see Jaln Milroe get
in that formation and he'd be pushed by some the
big uglies up front and and and just push him
in the end zone. Let him do his thing. So
if it helps the Hawks, let's go. What happens when
the most hated sports villain goes Instagram live in his
(31:24):
arch nemesis enemy City. Oh, you're gonna see next on
MJ in the midday sports radio ninety three to three
kJ R FM. What you're let's tell you're very demonstrative
(31:50):
and happy to be back. Kid. I can see that
you're you you missed that music, huh, you missed that listening.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Every now and then. It was good hearing it. But
it's feels good being back. So you know what time
it is? Mark? What time is it?
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Man? It is hitting to all fields time. Yeah, hitting
to all fields time. And I Reggie Miller, who is
just like the gift that keeps on giving to all
(32:24):
Knicks fans. He's a broadcaster for TNT, obviously a Hall
of Famer, one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.
And yesterday during the during the day where he had time,
it was a beautiful day out in the Big Apple,
New York City, Manhattan, and he wanted he decided to
go Instagram live just to see any type of harassment
(32:50):
or bullying or low comments that he received. All right,
we'll see what goes on now. Okay, I live rent
free in a lot of New York's head So yes,
they're still mad. But as you see, people are just
casually about the by running by. No one's gonna say
(33:10):
anything to say. First one, how you doing, my friend?
Thank you sir. First one, Reggie mother? Is that their career? Okay,
that's one. That's one. Yes, I am. We're doing a
live here. We wanted to see if anyone would say,
(33:32):
are you richie?
Speaker 2 (33:35):
You can see you as you know, I really can't
see your eyes.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
You're a part of some of my favorite basketball. Y
this mom was part from some of my favorite.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Basketball growing up. Just an absolutely no he was with
main one of those saying Reggie sucks one.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Of you was one of the main ones. But you
were amazing. True in New York, right. I love the
honest That's why I have a love hate relationship in
New York, because they keep it real and they're true, true, true.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
You're one of the best competitors I've ever seen in
any sport.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Thank you, sir.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Such an honor to merry kay, Thank you, sir. Enjoy
your day too.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
That great. Let me just tat you upout leave you nice.
See I'm all right around here. See yeah, that was
into New York City. I was expecting, especially of Reggie
Miller on the verge of the Eastern Conference Finals against
the Pacers, when how hated he is. But now there's
(34:36):
a civility to some of New Yorkers. I think if
he did that closer to game time outside Penn Clause
at Madison Square Garden, it would have been probably much different.
I think it would Did you see wind uh Windhurst
walking from his car? That was hilarious, but but that
was and dude, and here's the thing. The guy doing
(34:58):
the video he had seen some things, but and leave
Windy alone. And then when the people are throwing stuff
at him, come on, come on, I know. Did you
see the guy with the the tyree Slliburton jersey and
they threw they threw like trash bags at him.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
I saw a person get jumped.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
Oh, somebody got jumped.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
This has been the Boston series.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
But right yeah, after the Boston Series. Yeah, they beat
up some guy. They get a little rowdy out there,
they do. Yeah, it's like it's like going to a
Raiders game in Oakland. And la Redie did the right thing.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
He went to a neutral ground where maybe he might
meet one ass but likely here he'll meet a bunch
of people that respected his game, hated him then, but
now are like, you know, obviously during that time, couldn't
stand you, But now that I'm seeing you out in
the open and you're just a human and you're really
(35:52):
good at basketball, got ad mid man, you were pretty
freaking awesome. So shout out to you. And that's that's
what sports does together. So that was cool.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yeah, But last night when Tyree Saliburton hit that game
tying long two, which everyone thought was a three I
two and it hits the back of the rim and
it goes up in the air and literally comes down
like some sort of circus shot that you'd be performing
at halftime if you were the halftime entertainment. He does
(36:20):
the Reggie Miller. He looks at Reggie Miller and he
does the double choke sign to him, and there are
pictures later Reggie Miller on social media, Reggie Reggie loved it.
He was fired up because Tyree Saliburton was acknowledging him.
And this is what I'm saying. This is becoming more
of a focal point than the series. But here, I
(36:41):
mean they you know, I love stan Van Gundhy on
it they want to go Reggie Miller. I'll say this,
It does make it more intriguing and where the ratings
will go up.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Yeah, it's been a it's been a really great playoffs.
I know it's been a few blowouts, but the basketball
has been good. It's been fun entertainment. No physical guys
are battling. Like you're seeing it and this is what
it's all you want. And you're seeing that new era.
You know, it sucks seeing Steph Curry go down with Ninjuri,
Like I would have loved Golden State Warriors to be
(37:10):
in the Western Cord Finals. It didn't happen. Steph hamstring
got a little tight. It happens. But you're starting to
see this next generation of players take the next step.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yeah, I love it. Yeah, Yeah, it's it's you know,
Bob Ryan was on the other day, I said, have
we seen is like this is and it happens in
every sport that you know, the old Lions and like
you know and like even Tom Brady it came to
an end and it was Mahomes League then and it's
like Steph Lebron Durant and now it's gonna be Jokic
(37:42):
who has been his league for a little bit now,
and it's gonna be sga ant man, but a man
needs to step up in the playoffs. Man, that was
an embarrassing performance in the fourth quarter of the other night. Kid.
I mean, you can't have zero points in the fourth
quarter and then after the game you swear to the
media and your postgame press conference. And he was so nonchalant,
(38:03):
he said, hey, Like the woman asked him a legitimate question.
She said, why did you stop driving? He's like, they
just cut off my lanes and I couldn't do it.
And he just was so flipping about him like, man,
if I'm a tea Wolves fan, I am mad right now. Like, listen, man,
you could be the face of the league. And there
there's people and apparently he said he doesn't want to
be the face of the league. Can't blame him because
(38:25):
it's a huge thing because everything you do is under my.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Young Kevin Durant.
Speaker 1 (38:33):
That's what Stephen Jackson said about Kawhi Leonard, where Popovich
would take the teams on these retreats and they'd want
to go to these countries and look at all this
and like and Stephen Jackson said, Yo, Kawh I don't
want to I don't care about going to Africa. I
just want to hoop. It's a I just want to hoop.
Just let him hoop. That's it. He's not into all that.
(38:54):
He just wants He's just he wants to hoop. That's it,
all right. One guy who always hoops is qub one
Hugh Millen. He's coming up next. We'll ask him, obviously
about the quarterback push, the playoff, potential changing of the
seed proposals, and so much more next on MJ in
the Midday Sports Radio ninety three three kJ R at
(39:15):
Them
