Speaker 1 (00:00):
A Sopranos historian.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Self proclaimed with a Sopranos historian. But I will I
will put mark. I will put my knowledge up against
the best of them. I you don't how many trivia
nights that I've won, Oh, my fella, Sopranos to you know,
these these bars everywhere they got these trivia knights and
they're all themed and it's like, steal this should give
me a ten ninety nine gear and merch that I've

(00:25):
won at these trivia nights for Sopranos and good Fellas
and everything else. Man, it's good to talk to you.
I appreciate that walkout music.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Hey dude, bro, Hey, listen, man, I in one thing
you don't know about you.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
You are you kind of a wrestling.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Guy or no? Do dress like?

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Oh by the way, well listen, this is something you
don't know about me, but you now will know about me.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I used to be a ring announcer for E c W.
Paul Hayman was my boss.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Serious dead, no way.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yes, yeah, big dude South Philly. Hey, listen, listen, listen.
Sean may his sole rest in peace, as he died
at sixty five last week. I traveled the road with
the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal saboo.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oh I was his driver. I was his driver. Yes, yes,
you and I have you.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
You and I have many a conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Oh yeah, we we have many the things.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
One of the things I'll never forget that I could
share on the air is, let's just say one night
I walked into a hotel room with the manager of
Tampion's call it right down the Mettle, Daddy, Bill Alfonzo.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And we walked to a hotel room with with Raven.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Raven was in there, and uh, let's just say there
was a there was a woman who was had no
clothes on, and Raven was sitting there. And if you
ever saw the final scene of Scarface with al Pacino with.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
That mountain, with that mountain, and I just looked at it.
Oh yeah, oh yeah. I got stories for days, for
for days and years.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
But Paul Haman, yes, we will connect Sean, we will,
we will.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Do all Hayman's dude, I we got to talk about
baseball or what it's something at some point or Paul
Haymen's Hall of Fame, Paul Haymen's Hall of Fame speech.
I took notes during that thing. It was so good
like it was. There was so much. I'm sure you
saw it.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Oh, no doubt live live, Yeah yeah, yeah, like.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
You know, Roman introducing him and Roman telling the story
about how Hayman said that every show is an audition
to be invited back for the next show. I'm like, man,
this is radio right now, you know that is like,
that's there's so much. There is so much that's applicable
to that he talks about and that he's done in
wrestling that's applicable to what we do. Not to nerd
out too hearts for the audience, but no, it's cool stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
It's umble.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yeah, we'll talk more off the air about that, but yes, yeah,
Paul E dangerously was literally my boss. And you know,
and I'll give you one thing so I you know,
it was a little bit of a brown noser back
in the day. And we had a house show one
time and and I think it was somewhere in Alabama
or Tennessee, won those southern states, and it was around

(02:58):
the holidays, and I gave he's a big New York
Giants fan, and I gave him a New York Giants sweatshirt.
I said, Paul, this is a this is a Christmas
present to you and your family. He goes, I'm Jewish.
I said, oh, well that happy Hanukkah. This is a
depression to you.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Listen.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I was young and dumb and stupid, so I I
But then after that, listen, man, I started to learn
my family heritage and all this stuff. So and I
have some Jewish in my blood, and I then I
start to understand. Okay, yeah, yeah, he goes, but he
accepted this the sweatshirt anyway, So there's that, all right.
So we'll get to Sopranos, Mariners, Astros. You know, no

(03:40):
matter how I let me just give a quote, one
of the greatest quotes, even though it was the worst
in the trilogy, the coda Godfather Part three.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I feel like for the Mariners.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Just when the Mayors are think they are out and
there are way from the Astros, they pull them back in.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Why is that, Sean Pendergast.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, you know, it's a great question. I mean, it
happened to to the deluxe degree last year when the
Maritors had a double digit game lead on the Astros
in June, and by the All Star of Cranks, the
Astros are in first place. You know, the Mariner side
of it. I don't you know, you guys follow him
on a daily basis. There I can give you the
Astros side of things, which is they they are. Even

(04:20):
with all the changing faces and even with all the
revolving door and everything else, there's still a lot of
championship DNA on this team. You know, the leaders on
this team. There's still a ton of pitching on this team.
This is a team that continues to find pitching and
run it through their little analytics car wash. Now, the
problem with the analytics car wash is that at the

(04:41):
end of the car wash, the spin rate does get
a lot better, but it seems that like for half
of these guys, it ends in Tommy John surgery. So
we're still processing a lot of stuff. They've lost two
more starters to Tommy John surgery. Mark. To answer your question,
I just think the Astros that they are, they know
it's one hundred and sixty two game season. I don't
mean to bury you cliches. No, no, no, please, They've

(05:02):
got yeah, they've got I mean, they've they've got talent
on the team. They haven't hit it all yet this year.
But I do think like there are certain teams that
they that they get up where the Yankees are one
of those teams. I absolutely think the Mariners are one
of those teams. The Rangers. There's just there's a lot
of fight in this team, even when they're just a
five hundred ball club. There's still a lot about this
team that should scare other baseball teams.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Sean pender Gas from Sports Radio six to ten k
I l T in Houston, Sean, and you know it's
weird too that you know in the mayor is. I mean,
the the Astros years ago they lost Springer, they or
the offseason, they lose Bregmant of Boston, lose Kyle Tucker,
and yet here they still are finding ways to get

(05:44):
it done. And then Al Tuvey, he's not even in
the infield anymore and he blasts two home runs last night.
How do they continue to sustain this success?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
They well, they for many years it was because they
they had a you know, they had a deep minor
league system, and they've made some really good deals, you know,
like you're on Alvarez. They picked up for Josh Fields
back in two sixteen, a middle reliever. You know, like
trades like that, you know, like things like that they've
just been able to find guys that have been able
to kind of keep this thing going. Carlos Correa leaves

(06:16):
after twenty twenty one, and they got Jeremy Pania waiting in.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
The Minor League stud and right.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Ends up being an ALCS and World Series MVP as
a rookie. The pitching, like I said, they the biggest
cheat code they've had mark through the last I'll say
like four years, five years where they've really they've had
the exodus of guys from championship teams and they've had
to find solutions to backfill them. Back when Jeff Luno
was the GM back in about the twenty fifteen twenty

(06:45):
sixteen time frame, Luno would go down to Latin America,
whether it was Mexico or Venezuela or the Dominican Republic,
and he would find these guys who were like eighteen
or nineteen years old, which if you're eighteen or nineteen
and they haven't they haven't identified you as a prospect yet,
you're a bum down there. And he went and he's

(07:07):
and he went fishing through the recyclable, recyclable bin of
bums and for for bonuses or signing bonuses of like
ten thousand dollars. He's able to get fram Ravaldez into
the system. He's able to release Garcia and Jose or
Keidy Christian Hobbier. Now now three of those guys I
just named are all recovering from Tommy John surgery. But

(07:28):
they've all been big parts of keeping the window open,
a window that started all the way back in twenty seventeen.
So it's been a variety of different ways. It's been
very strange because even through this decade that they've been
so dominant, been to the ALCS seven times, they're still
on their third manager and third general managers, you know
what I mean, Like they they then you had this

(07:48):
all the punishment from the Sigin Feeling scandal that that
they you know that they that was some adversity that
was on you know, self inflicted obviously, but still something
you got to recover from. So they've just they've they've
found a way to do things. Man, they just found
a way to do things. And a lot of teams
are copying them, you know, which you should do, a
lot of copycats. A lot of people hired out of
that building to go run other ball clubs.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Sean Peddergass here on MJ in the midday. Yeah, and
you know, Dana Brown, he has to, you know, kind
of change things on the fly. And Joe A Spot
comes in no more aj Hinch and you know, everything changes.
And but yet it's like the old led Zeppelin thing.
The song remains the same and the result remains the same.
And here they and I remember, you know, early as season,

(08:31):
I mean, look, and I even said it because in
a lot of Mariners fans reminded me because I'm new
to town here too, Sean, is that, hey, don't you know?
Because I started like the Mariners were the best. They
had the best record in baseball since the extra innings
loss on Tuesday night, April eighth to the Astros.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Here they beat him.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
The next day they were down five to nothing a
Rosmarina hits a Grand Slam. They had the best record
in baseball since then, even with last night's loss. And
I'm like, well, I'm gonna eat some crow, and everyone's like, no,
don't eat crow, because we've seen this ten game lead,
as you mentioned, Sean in June last year, all Star
break out of first place.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Yeah, yeah, I think you know that's I'll go back
to twenty twenty two, which I know was. I know
it's before you got to to Seattle, Mark, I remember,
I remember followed it though you Yeah, yeah, there's there's
the same called the internet and television, so I'm sure
you saw all of it. And yeah, but the twenty
twenty two Alds where the Mariners blew a big lead
in Game one, Jordan Alvarez HiT's a walk off home

(09:29):
run in the bottom of the ninth inning, one of
the most amazing playoff games ever. And then to two
games later it's the eighteen inning game, the one nothing
game where Jeremy Panna hits the home run and the
Astro swept the Mariners in that city. But I can
tell you the narrative here after that series was and
the Actros will go on to win the World Series
that year, But specific to the Mariners after that series was, man,

(09:50):
that was a sweep. But they made them work for
the sweep, you know what I mean, Like they they
made you know, like to you know, you know, I
to use a wrestling analogy, the marin at least got
the roup from the Astro. You know, you're like, all right,
well these guys, you know, they're you know, maybe they'll
be the year Continental champions, but they are gonna be there.

(10:11):
They are gonna be something the Astros are gonna have
to deal with. And it just it like it just
hasn't really kind of worked out that way. Now the
Astros have backslid since then too, and the Rangers have
actually won a World Series, and neither of them have
won the more recent World Series. But i we were
already here for Astros Mariners to be like this top shelf,

(10:33):
top of the division rivalry for the next few years.
And yeah, they've been in kind of that same strata,
but it just hasn't had the pop that we thought
it would after that playoff series.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah, Sean, and last year, I mean, the Mariners wasted
the best pitching staff in baseball. This year, they've been
besieged by injuries, first with George Kirby, who just made
his first Star of the season last night. Logan Gilbert's out,
Bryce Miller's now on the ils. So they're doing it.
They're doing it at the play How do people how
do Astros fans in general, how how do they look

(11:03):
at the Mariners? You said that they look them at
it as as certainly are they a rival? Are they
someone the day say oh there, and their dander gets
up when when they're playing the Mariners thinks that, you.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Know, I'll be honest with you, they get much more
so when Scott's Service was the manager there, because Scott's
Service was a prickly bastard and he was also a
former Astro and you know he he you know, he
didn't mind starting things. I didn't mind it. I like it.
You know, you and I are wrestling fans. Yeah, so
it was probably a little saucier when he was there.
I can tell you if I'm doing like a power

(11:35):
ranking here of teams at the Astros view as like
rivals or you know, the series when they come to
to to dyke In Park, you know, there's a certain
buzz around the ballpark. I mean, Seattle's definitely in the
upper half of the American League for that, just because
they're in the same division. But it's not like it
is with the Yankees through the Astros and has some
epic playoff series, which certainly not like the Rangers, who

(11:57):
you know, you've got an in state rivalry that's go
on forever. I'm sorry, there's like heavy machinery in the background. Here,
I'm walking the neighborhood right now, so you know, and
I would say, you know, I would so I would
say Rangers. I would say Yankees certainly ahead of them,
but probably like in that next year, you know, probably,
I think there's a healthy respect for them, But until

(12:18):
they and you know, until until they have like something
big on the line, you know, like a series at
the end of the year that's got to decide something,
or a playoff series. It's maybe a little further down
the road than the Alds, that kind of thing. I
think that's probably what's missing right now, no question about it.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
And you know, I knew this coming into Seattle, Sean,
but I was reminded about it when I got here,
especially by the listing audience, that the Manners is the
only team in Major League Baseball history never make it
to a World Series.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah. Man, I didn't know that until the other day.
We do a segment each week, usually reserved for football season,
but we do pull it out sometimes during baseball season,
So I guess this is an indicator of where the
Mariners are on our show. At least, we do a
segment called five Reasons I Hate you for our opponent,
okay and one and that was that's when I learned

(13:06):
about that World Series thing. One of the reasons I
was like, we hate the Mariners because they're frauds. They
won one hundred and sixteen games in a season in
two thousand and one and didn't even make it to
the World Series. And that's when I found out, like, oh,
they've never made it to a World Series.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Never.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I'm not saying that to anger your audience. It's just,
you know, it's a bit that we do. But that's
when I learned about that too. I had no idea.
I'm like, really, and you start to think back, you're
like the Marlins. Oh yeah, no, the Marlins bought two
World Series championship a j they purchased them. So yeah, man,
that's wild. The Seattle's had some good teams and some
Hall of Fame players. That crazy, I know, I know,

(13:40):
I know. I talked to a buddy of mine up
in New York and he was talking about the Mets.
Were like, could you imagine if the Mets had Ken
Griffy Junior in his prime, a Rod in his prime,
Randy Johnson in his prime? How about this guy named
each Row and his Edgar Martinez and Mets haven't.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Had anywhere near that talent. And and you know they've
even gone to a World Series and lost to the Royals.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
You know, it's yeah, it's wild, it's and And the
crazy thing was that one hundred and sixteen win season
was after most of those guys left, like Randy Johnson
and Ken Griffy Jr. And A Rod. I think we're
all gone by, like a Rod that was his first
year in Texas. That was the Yep, they were all gone.
That's what's so crazy. Liked he want to Buck sixteen
didn't even have those guys on it. That's not no.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
I know, all right, you know we got to do this,
all right, Sopranos history.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Let me.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
I got to ask you this and where you stand
because your opinion obviously carries so much weight. Most shocking
scene in Soprano's history, I would say the one.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
The most shocking scene, well, the most graphic shocking scene
was definitely Ralphie Oh yes, yes see in the parking lot,
lamming her head against the guardrail multiple times like that was.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Oh, Sean, I thought you were gonna say.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
When Tony went over to confront Ralphie after the horse
got killed and then he killed them.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yeah, they're all intertwined, all intertwined, I mean you know, so, yeah,
that's that's definitely up there, although you could kind of
see that coming for Ralsie. Probably the most shocking one
where I was like, whoa, was when Janice ended up
shooting Richie. Yes, when Tony was gonna Tony was gonna
whack him anyways, but Janis went ahead unwittingly did Tony's

(15:23):
dirty work. Like I was not expecting no Richie to
eat it in that episode. That's that was the most
shocking ones to me, was like, WHOA, didn't expect that.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
I'm gonna go, here's mine?

Speaker 2 (15:34):
You ready? Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
There was a lot of tension between Tony and Christopher
and Tony and Christopher had accused Tony of messing around
with Adriana, and Tony.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Ends up killing Christopher, who was like a son to him.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Oh my god, just by by suffocating him, I know,
like he's staring him in the face. Well, oh my god.
We were doing so many spoilers right now.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Well, by by the way, the show's been over Wichard
since June ten, two thousand and seven. I know because
my life. Listen, I almost literally died a half hour
after that show ended.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Oh my god, yeah, I know, well for real or
just no real, no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Literally, I fell asleep at the wheel in Vermont, and
I wasn't drinking. I don't drink. I fell asleep at
the wheel because I was so tired. And I was
driving back to my parents' home in Massachusetts. And I
go down this hill shone and thankfully God bless the
mother nature and Vermont. They have these trees in Vermont
called saplings, and saplings aren't oak trees. If it was

(16:37):
an oak tree, I was DOA car flipped over twice.
I walked away, not even a stinger, a little blood
cut off the eye, walked away like literally I took
the bump, shan, and I walked away literally like it
was nothing.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
And I was just like, oh my, I just fell
asleep at the wheel driving. I was so tired.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Wow, you know, soul car flip? I did I know?

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Sold it? Yeah, I know, sold it.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
God, that's dude, that's incredible. When the paramedics got there,
were they like, sir, I know the Sopranos just ended,
but this is a very extreme.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Way well press here. Well yeah, well here's the thing
that really shocked me.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
The day the next day or the day after that,
when my dad went to go get the what was
left in the vehicle and the stuff in the trunk
and everything, the guy said, Hey, listen, I've used the
jaws of life on people who've gotten in accidents a
lot less worse than this.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Your son was very lucky.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Yeah, oh, dude, so you so not to support our
good friend Tony. Every day is a gift for you.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Every day is a gift, and so so listen, don't
stop believing by Journey was one of the last songs
I would have ever heard in my life, because I
almost died after I heard that. So when I think
of June, like everyone, you know, my birthday November two, Yeah, whatever,
you know, but no big deal.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
When June tenth comes around every year, I call that
my life day.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
That's that's that's fantastic. Not fantastic you got into the accident, obviously,
fantastic that you acknowledge that every year. Man, that's uh,
that's some scary stuff, dude, I know, I know.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Man surviving E C W and uh. And then the
final episode sopranos.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
You know what harder job surviving? W are surviving a
multi car, a multi flip car.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Actually, well, I well when Paul Hayman one night I
got some heat in the locker room and Paulie wanted
me to go through a table and at a house
show in Richmond, Virginia, and my good buddy Rhino speared
me to a table and he was scared to death.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
As soon as he did, He's like, are you okay?
Are you okay?

Speaker 3 (18:36):
I took the bump, and then Paulie afterwards came back
to the locker room. He shook my hand. He said,
all right, your heat is your you have no more heat.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Oh good, you got the respect of the boys.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
I got the I got the boys respect back that night. Yeah, man,
yeah yeah, so hey, hey, Sean, pleasure talking to you.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Man.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Let's uh, let's let's do this again.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
And even if the Mett Mariners aren't playing the Astros,
let's do this again sooner than later.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
For sure, you got my number. Man, get touch with
me anytime. We'll home and home at sometimes too. I
love it.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'd love to I anytime you want, brother, anytime we
could go ecw Sopranos and oh man, it was uh yeah, man,
we'll do it. Thanks a lot, Sean, all right, Mark
appreciate it. All right, good weekend, you too, buddy. Mariners
Astros five to ten. First pitch tonight, Emerson Hancock against
Ryan Gusto.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Yeah, you want that to be a rivalry in the postseason.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
We know it.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
You know in the regular season. We wanted to be
a rivalry in the postseason going forward. And I still
believe the Mariners are headed towards the playoffs this year.
You know, it's a long season, it's one hundred and
sixty two games, but I think this team is definitely
gonna go way over the eighty six and a half
over under win total that Vegas gave him before the year.
But they're headed towards the postseason.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
What do you say?

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Text of the Day four nine, four five one coming
up next right here on MJ and the Midday Sports
Radio ninety three to three KJRFM. Hey man, sometimes bromance
has just developed when you least expect it. I mean,
I gotta tell you, man, I'm like, yeah, ye know,

(20:09):
the certain things just happened, Chris, You witness a budding
bromance right before our very eyes. You withness that year. Hey,
ninety three three KJRFM wants to remind you that May
is Military Appreciation Month.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Well, we got a few days left.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
In honor of that, we want to hear from those
who have served our country in the military, as well
as their families and loved ones throughout this week as
we approach Memorial Day. We want to invite those who
have served to share your names and where you serve
so we can shout you today, even if it's a
member of your family. We invite you to head to
the new and improved iHeartRadio app ninety three to three KJR,

(20:45):
hit that little microphone icon on the app and tell
us about you or a member of your family. All
day to day, we'll be recognizing those in our community
who have served our country. I mentioned at the beginning
of the show, my grandfather served our country in the
Korean War. He's going through a tough time right now,
and ninety six years old. He's he's made a long time,

(21:06):
but it doesn't Unfortunately, it doesn't look like he has
much time left in this world. So but anyway, everybody
out there has got someone who served a friend, you
know of someone who served in the military.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Yeah, before we get the text, I'll give a shout
out to Clarence Freeman. Listens to the station. Clarence joined
the Army reserves late sixties nineteen sixty eighty to be specific,
while attending dental school, and was commissioned as captain in
seventy two. He served in the Korea and at Fort Lewis,
retiring in two thousand as a lieutenant colonel. He doesn't

(21:37):
volunteer work at my old middle school, my old stomping ground,
Saint loreis elementary. Shout out to mister Freeman, and I
hope you are. I hope you're gonna have a great
weekend with friends and family. And we appreciate what you
did for the country. So thank you for your service.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Sorry, thanks you, Clarence, Thank you very very much. That
is awesome. All right, kid, let's I'll go here with
the two five to three.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
With a new college football playoff system in the NFL,
we would not have arguably the greatest run in NFL
playoff history, beast quick Seahawks or seven to nine division
winners that year.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
No, I know.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
But here's the thing that was twenty ten. It's fifteen
years later, and I get it. It existed then, so
that moment will always be there. I just don't want
a seven to nine team or an eight and nine
team like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in twenty twenty two
getting in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
From the eight to five eight Any idea where that is,
mister Aria code, No, I don't.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
I do not.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
I stumped the.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Yeah, Eric, you stumped the shop. By the way, knew him,
Howie Schwab. I saw him two years ago at the
Dick Fi Tal Gala, and then the last year he died.
The Schwab he died, But I just looked it up
and I cheated San Diego, San Diego, Okay, also went
from San Diego eight five eight.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
That was beautiful.

Speaker 6 (22:55):
Congratulations on the new bromance.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Hey, you never know what happens, you know.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
That is, you never know when things happen, and it's
just like you know, So how about this from Marcus
A boy Marcus twoh six. Don't really have a preference
on the seating either way. But a team can just
win more games in their division if they want a
home game, Amen, That's what I'm saying. That Like, if

(23:23):
you like, here's my thing, the one thing. Okay, let
me explain like this, all division winners should get in
the playoffs. But if a team with a losing record
is a divisional winner, they don't host a home playoff game.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Feel me. That's what I'm saying. They don't.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
You don't get rewarded for futility. That's what I don't want.
That's all I'm saying. You don't get to host a
home playoff game if you have a losing record and
you win your division.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
That's what I do not want. That again, it's unfair.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
This next one comes from the two oh six. To
be the man, you have to beat the man. Asters
I've been the Mariner's daddy. Finish.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
They joined the Al West. He's not wrong. He's not wrong.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
He's not wrong.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
A kid on Ocean Gate from the four two five.
The guy said that moron was operator operating the submarine
with a knockoff video game controller. That alone should have
given anyone pause. Yeah, that's that was really rough reading
up to it, and yeah, that that's you know.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
We talked, We joked around about the red flags and
woman asking for the step. That whole controller was like instantaneous, right,
like not safe. I don't know if he's taking this serious.
I mean, sure, maybe you can do a couple things
with video gank controllers, but going to the depths of
the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. I don't know if that.

(24:50):
I don't see the correlation. I can't see how that
all makes sense in my head. No, no, I no,
I know.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I'm Chris. Don't ever do something.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
It's something like like, I don't care what billionaire if
if it's Elon Musjeff Bezos today, Chris, Hey.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
Listen, man, uh, we're gonna need you to Yeah, we're
gonna bury you underground. And I don't mean six feet under.
We're gonna be bar you twelve feet under. But don't worry.
We're gonna get you out before you stop breathing.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Don't do it, dude. I will stop you, I will
tackle you, and you will never do that. I'm not
gonna make you know. You know, missus kidd a widow,
you will not do anything stupid just because a billionaire
is telling you you have to do it.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Fine, MJ two O six.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Let's go total euro snob and get rid of divisions
and go to a straight single table for standings.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Millan will tell you are wrong.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
I'm not saying and Hugh Millan's Hu and Millon and
I we we respectfully disagree on this. I'm not saying
get away with divisions. I don't want futility and mediocrity
to be rewarded. And I'm gonna tell you, Chris Christopher Kid,
the Vikings and Commanders should uh, they should not.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
They should have been the three.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
And four seats last year over the Bucks and Ramps.
They got jaw big time. The Vikings had a they
were like fourteen and three and they had to like
come on and then they hosted a playoff game. They
still lost, but like the Rams, like and they had
to go on the road even though it was a
neutral environment because of the stuff that happened within the wildfires.

(26:17):
But no, I'm sorry, bet, like the Commanders should have
hosted a playoff game over like a team that has
a lesser record. So all I'm saying is that you
win your division, you're in the playoffs, but you don't
necessarily host a home playoff game.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
Last two from me from the two o six, My
son Mateo kan Tu ships to Basic in August appreciate you, mateo.
And then one more from the two six Brandon here,
fifth consecutive member of my family to serve. I was
in the Army National Guard, an officer trainee and wow
Per Rescue. Served as a volunteer in Ukraine during the

(26:56):
current conflict, teaching combat medicine.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Appreciate you, man, Yeah, yeah, we appreciate everybody. Everybody.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Hey is it Chris Centralia, Centralralia, Centralia. Hey Mark, I'm
a sixty three year old listener that love your style
sports talk. You're the Don Rickles of sports talk host.
Keep up the good work done from Centralia. I appreciate that.
From the four two five, see Chris, you know it's
it's like I love this one. Love the topics on

(27:26):
that last interview, see the thing.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Listen.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
The Highway of Seattle sports radio will always be Mariners,
always be Seahawks. You dub Kraken Coog's storm Sounders. But
sometimes we you know, with there's only one team playing
right now in town, we can sort of veer off
the highway and we get back on every now and then.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
That's that's what's going on here, you know.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
So yeah, appreciate it, Appreciate that and oh from the
two one more thing and King Felix has he never
made the playoffs?

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:06):
I know, uh from the two oh six. This is
a self deprecating Mariners fan. How could the Mariners be
frauds if they've never been great just a few lucky seasons. Hey, listen,
I'll say this about Mariners fans. Hang in there, hang
in there, and there are don't worry. They're gonna be
great times coming ahead, and they could be happening this October.

(28:29):
All right, Ian Ferness coming up next right here, Cross
talk as we call it a day and a week,
and again, much appreciation everybody who's served, and we will
think about all of you on Memorial Day and every day,
but especially this Monday.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Don't go anywhere. Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Thanks to Tyler Kepner from the Athletic and Sean Pendergas
from Sports Radio Kilt down in Houston for stopping by today.
The Mayor's in the House House also appreciate, uh again
Military Appreciation Month for everybody out there. Will be thinking
of you all weekend long, especially on Monday Memorial Day,
where we were thankfully thanks to Purple Sheet given the
day off. So, uh, mister Furness, does does the my

(29:16):
financial interest in the Edmonton Oilers?

Speaker 1 (29:18):
Can it? Can they tie the series up? Or will
they tie the series up tonight?

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Well, I can't help you with your financial interest, no, right,
but can you not allowed to talk about that? Oh?

Speaker 3 (29:28):
That's true, that's what we can they win tonight? We
will they win tonight? Better win tonight.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
It got to win it half game.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
I mean, I guess in theory, you know, we were
talking in the Brave in theory, they could lose, fall
down two notugh, and come back whin the next two
at home. They always say, you haven't really lost a
series till you lose at home. But when they did,
that was the Kings. These guys are They're a wagon.
I mean, I just think Dallas and Florida are destined
to meet in the finals and it's gonna be a
great finals and hopefully it will be. And you know

(29:56):
it isn't it odd how sometimes conference championsh chips singing
the NBA as well aren't as good as the previous series.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yes, very much about the Knicks Pacers, though the other
one was great. Yeah, Okay, we had one game so
out of four out of one. There's there's only been
three in the NBA so far, Knicks Pacers game two tonight.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
And three in the NHL. There's one good game so far, right, yeah, right,
and that was in the NBA. That was the Knicks
and pac Pacers epic because that game last night it
got to within ten. But it was like a minute
half last night. No, no, no, it was never screaming
at my TV. Yeah, it was never in doubt.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
I think SG just fell over again on his own
looking for a foul. Oh yeah, well he won the
MVP ands n AFT anymore, he's just gonna get the
whistle candy ass he is, guys, he gets soft little.

Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yeah. So sick of him.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Yeah, but you know, I mean, your best player on
the other team's got to be your best player and
probably hasn't been right well.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Last night he at the Edwards start, he did stand
up the other last night he got thirty two.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Can't put an outside shot, right, is that right?

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Now?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Shot?

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Is that the problem?

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I don't watch enough of you, you guys.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Tell Yeah, yeah, he can't. He's been horrible. See, but
last night he drove and was able to get thirty
two points from driving. Yeah, and it is free throws.
But then he become a It's like these things in
the NBA where these guys don't hit shots.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
But like jo kicch or whatever.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
In that series against Oklahoma City, him and Shay Gillis Alexander,
they had some horrible games.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
But they go to the line eighteen to twenty three
times and they become free throw merchants.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
I mean, we're deskin, aren't we. I mean, the thunder
gonna be in the finals. They Oh no, it's it's
a round.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
It's over. They're going the finals.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:32):
God, So I mean, really, like I said, I told
everybody in before the conference finals, said start buying your
Jalen brunts and jerseys because I don't. I mean, Indiana
could give him. Indiana is tough man. Indiana's like, for real,
they are tougher that Like, wow, I just never dude,
Aaron Nesmith hit six three pointers.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
In the final three minutes of the freaking game. Being
about that was nuts. I was telling you yesterday, that
was crazy. I looked up. We're Reggie Miller.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Never did Daddy walked off the golf course, and it's
like that game was on and like, okay, yeah fourteen
like a kid so or football for the hockey game
was one goal game and then the snap of a finger,
two goals were scoring in the hockey game.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
That thing's over. And then the waitress comes over and
tells us why aren't watching the NBA game. I'm like, well,
it's over. She goes, it's going overtime, Like what? Yeah,
like what this was so close?

Speaker 4 (32:24):
And that was it wasn't then going back and but yeah,
it's uh, let's just hope he gets some better games
this weekend, starting tonight. Let's hope the Pars bounced back
starting tonight. Yeah that was that wasn't great yesterday. But
you know, I think have they put the lineup out yet?

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Is Julio in?

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Do we know?

Speaker 3 (32:39):
I have not seen that yet if Julio is in
yet or not? Hopefully he is, but uh yeah that's
the key.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah, I'm just gonna look through that.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
And by the way, doesn't that concern how much did
that concern you when you've got a none?

Speaker 4 (32:49):
Yeah, well it will concern me if he's not in
there tonight, okay, because day to day usually means you're
back in the next day.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so is he not in tonight, then
then we have it.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Then we're having a converse, right like, if he is,
I'm just looking through it doesn't look like anything's.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Out there yet.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, probably not so well, let's you know, let's see here.
Uh nothing no, nothing, nothing nothing yet. So that doesn't
mean he's not just it just doesn't you know. Yeah,
by the way, Casey Lawrence was cleared waivers and he's
outrighted to triple like.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Phil baffer Casey Lawrence, and I don't think a guy's
been dfad more in a month than this guy has.
You come up, give us some innings and we're gonna DFA.
You come up, give us some innings, we're gonna DFA,
which basically just means got to pass through waivers. Yeah,
but you know, and then you're off the forty man
and all that kind of stuff, right Like it's just like, dude, like,
this is what a world that baseball guy's living.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Those those unbelievable But what do you got coming up today?

Speaker 4 (33:45):
We're gonna uh check out Daniel o' neil one twenty
and see what's up with him this week our Weekly
Visit with Daniel Love doing that and then two o'clock.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
I did it yesterday.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
I sat down with Jason Bottrell and the new GM
for the kracking, had about a twenty minute conversation with him.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Where is the coaching search right now? Where are they with?

Speaker 4 (34:03):
What's gonna happen in the offseason? There's are they going
to trade? Are they going to go after high end
free agents? How are they going to improve this team
and get him back to the postseason? So our first
real long conversation with Jason Bottle coming up a two
o'clock today.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
Oh, I'm not going to miss that. And does he
give you a timetable when he wants to have a
coach name? He does?

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Yes, all right, we won't give that the way. That's
a tease coming up at two o'clock. I am Did
you drop any names to him?

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Mitch Love?

Speaker 4 (34:29):
And he wouldn't bite on any games? I don't think so,
all right, I'll try.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Okay, there we go, there we go. All right, let's
do it. Let's do it all right.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Infernet's coming up next, So everybody, thanks for Christopher kid.
