of course, is that the ticket sales across the United
States haven't been great. It's not part of the season
ticket plan for these MLS clubs, LAFC in Miami or
the other two teams playing and LAFC, by the way,
is playing Chelsea today in Atlanta, so it's not like
their fans would easily get to games. And it's got
to the point where they were slashing ticket prices to

ticked off some of the people who originally bought their
tickets at a fuller price than they got for yesterday,
which is why I bring about the crowd thing. Okay,
the playing the pitch last night, I would guess that
was of the three group matches, with Athletico Madrid and

to get last night, right, And how close did they

is that they were they moved the ball with a
little bit more pace, and they brought in Paul roth Rock,
who's you know, faster, and Pedro Dilla Vega much faster.
So then you had your pivots, which is Rodin and
well but Vargas getting the ball wide.

And once the ball was wide, they kept.

On attacking that final third and by them staying wide
that is again Dela Vega and roath Rock, it opened
up the middle for someone like Albert Russnek and then
they were able to get some innerplay in there. So

of kim keathy right, because he was sealed on both

The sounder's neck and just annihilate. I mean, that's you know,

Right, So you have to play discipline soccer. That means
you have to stay compact. For the Sounders, your back
line and your midfield block and also your forward line,
the actually five of them.

The way the Sounders play, they all have to stay together.

Because I don't think you're going to win the possession
battle against athletical went and against the PSGV you know,
that's a whole other, you know, animal in itself.

brought their dudes, right because of the prize money involved
in the fact that there's tens of millions of dollars
at stake if you can reach the finals. The full

The average well not even soccer a sports fan would think, wow,
this is just pre season spring training for them, But
FIFA up the Annie with a billion dollar prize money
and now it's a big deal to have these players
get that money right.

It's an absolute cash grab in that and I think
FIFA got it right as much.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
As you know, we we go out here and just
slam FIFA.

But if you really think about it, there used to
be confederations, cuff.

That's what this tournament used to be. That is a
tournament before the World Cup.

You would play it where the world a year before
the World Cup is going to be played. You get
your logistics right, and then you would take the you know,
the previous World Cup winner and the run ups and
then the host city and then another team. So fifals like, no,
you know what, let's forget that. Let's get the clubs
right and let's give you enough money. And so for

of thing, right, I mean, what it looks like is

you make it work a little bit, right, a little entertaining.

out to you. What was the most telling thing, if

I thought that what the defense was ahead, right, yep,
we saw that that just in terms of the pace
and energy they were, you know, every time they went
the drills or whatnot.

You could tell they were a step ahead.

And also I thought that I liked Charbone looked and
gray Abel, I mean he.

Looked the part. So that is a positive named Lucas.

So that old line necessarily, the old line seems to
be a competition, right, and that's gonna go. But Michae
McDonald's asked, when are you going to have, you know,

them later, But I think right probably before training deposity.

You got to do it before training camps down right,
you should have some idea two weeks in of what
you're doing in moist season rotations. So that's the offensive
line competition. The leadership Devon willis known to me was
stood out, and not only in just what he said,

but on the field and then after each of the
team sessions they had those big vino boards and how
as a group they would go there and you could
really hear them talking about the play.

The attention to detail also stood out for me. Sam

a writing classes freshman year, and he was like, I
don't know how much he was really struggling, but he

And I'm like, I'm just not the writer I used
to be. I'm just I was years ago, not anymore.

Yeah, I knew he but I knew he was stressed
when he's calling me about it, like, because he's the

fought all the symptoms of type one diabetes. For eight
months without complaining or saying anything. He just doesn't do that.
So I knew it was stressful. And it was a

and whether it's long form short form, he's a writer.

you should have some idea two weeks in of what
you're doing in moist season rotations. So that's the offensive

as a group they would go there and you could
really hear them talking about the play.

Any advice for him get a private pilot's license, and
those are expensive, as I'm finding out through my daughter
who's doing it. But yeah, private pilot's license takes a
lot of time. It's a lot harder than it used
to be. I'm finding out the FAA is really cracked,
as they should. You shouldn't just let any Yaho's fly planes,

but it's a little harder than it used to be.
My wife had a private pilot's license when she was
in eighteen, but she tells me that the requirements my
daughter has crazy compared to what she did. So good
for them that the FAA cracks down on that. But
that would be my first bit of advice, and I'm
living that right now. It's expensive. I can tell you
that two four four two five. What do I expect

the marriagers to do with the trade deadline? We asked
that earlier. Nothing in all caps exclamation point. They knew
devs was available and also had the farm system to
get them. Of course they did have the farm system.
They could have got Harry Ford would have gotten them devors,
but they wouldn't want to do that. The problem is
the money. As we mentioned, the giants took on two
hundred and fifty million a quarter billion dollars until twenty

thirty three. That's the problem with making deals on a
contract that last eight more years. You're inheriting all of
that because it's all guaranteed. This isn't the NFL where
it's oh, it's just eight years, but it's really only
two or void year. No, it's guaranteed money. Yeah, Devers
could hit one hundred between now in twenty thirty three
and he's still gonna make two hundred and fifty more
million dollars. The Marriagers don't want that. I don't blame

I can't criticize the Mariner for not taking on an
eight year contract at two hundred and fifty million plus
take away some of your top prospects. Yeah, no, I'm
I am not going to criticize them for not trading
for Raphael Devers. And Devors had worn out his welcome
in Boston, as many baseball fans and many of you
listeners know, they didn't want him play thirty anymore because
the Red Saw just got Bregman and then they wanted

him to play first, and then he went him to
DH and he's like nah, and it's been his butting

It was fantastic. We were there for Keefer's yea, his
son's graduation from Whitworth and Yeah, what struck me is
how cool it was to see not only his college

all his high school classmates that were there. And I
got there later, so I missed some of them. I'm

Very very close knit community. First of all, thanks for coming.

you go to college and there's that one class of
freshman year that just is getting you. And and my
son's always been a really good student, like a real
and I was it's funny because he's a really good student.

He just never liked school but football. And this is
where the student athlete thing comes into play. And it's
when bristled last week, and when I hear people say
there's no such thing as a student athlete anymore, that's
just the biggest bunch of garbage I've ever heard. Yeah,
your son was your daughter Rose and your crew and stuff.
I don't know if he goes to college, if he's
not playing football.

And how many people can say that, right, It's so many.

And you know, especially the smaller schools that have every sport. Right,
it's like, Okay, I want to still play, you know,
and I'm still good enough. And and for most of
the kids at that level, they want to play. They
could go to other schools, but they want to play.
They don't want to just be practice fodder. And so
it was big. But he had a class, he had
a writing classes freshman year, and he was like, I
don't know how much he was really struggling, but he

was kind of in a panic mode and he's like,
can you help me with this?

And all this?

And I'm like, I'm just not the writer I used
to be. I'm just I was years ago, not anymore.

Let's let's face it. When your dad tells you something,
you're kind of like, how gonna.

Yeah, I knew he but I knew he was stressed
when he's calling me about it, like, because he's the
kind of kid that used the phone in a voice.
Yeah yeah, he did actually two things what that? And
you know he's also a kid that that you know,
fought all the symptoms of type one diabetes. For eight
months without complaining or saying anything. He just doesn't do that.
So I knew it was stressful. And it was a

writing class. And I said, you know what, my buddy
Greg Bell, he does some stuff that you dub, but
he's a writer. That's what he does. He's you know,
and whether it's long form short form, he's a writer.
And I put Keith for in touch with Greg and
you were phenomenal and got him. It was awesome and
so and he's always been forever grateful for that, as
we have as a family.
