Speaker 1 (00:00):
I hope everyone's having a good Monday so far after
a great weekend. The weather here, you know, one of
the myths that I've learned so far about Seattle. You
guys have the rest of the country thinking that you
have bad weather here, but you don't. You have great
weather here, because since I got back from Vegas on Sunday,

(00:21):
April thirteenth, the weather here has been fall football weather
for almost two months straight. I love it. I'm here
for all of it. It's amazing and man, I'm listen
it's it's just awesome. And it's been like that for

(00:42):
like nearly two months. I'm like, this might be the
best stretch of weather at any place I've ever lived
for my entire life ever ever, So also want to
give a nice shout out to Bucky Jacobson today who
did a great job. Who Chuck was out his tag
team partner, he did the show, Ashley and Hugh Milling.

(01:03):
They did a great job today. Adam Wainwright interview was awesome.
So I love I gotta reiterate this again. I love
listening to Bucky and break down baseball because he does
it in a way where he doesn't come at it
like you feel like he's on top of a soapbox.
He talks to you like he's a regular dude, which

(01:24):
he is a regular dude, and he breaks it down
to the point where even an idiot like me can
understand it. So I love that. And Hugh, as you know,
is this fountain of information, which is you know that
guy is like I thought, people tell me, I know,
you're like a human encyclopedia. I'm like, now, you haven't
met Hu Millan yet. You haven't met that guy yet.
So but so let's start with the good. The Mariners

(01:51):
took two out of three. That's the that's the glass
out full. Cal Roley is major League Baseball's home run
leader right now. He's got twenty four home runs. He's
got more than Aaron Judge. He's got more than Shoe
Hee Otani, Kyle Schwarber, you name it. That contract that
Jerry Depoto gave him prior to the season is gonna

(02:14):
be one of the most team friendly, best contracts probably
in Mariner's history. So those are the good things that
I saw. Oh, welcome to the big League's Cole Young,
who got his first in his first game, his first
game winning fielder's choice to win the game on Saturday night.
So those are the good things. That's the glass half full.

(02:38):
And this series this weekend felt like a a l
DS series. That was a tough series, you know, facing
former Mariner Ti France, and hey, listen, that's a tough
team managed by Rock oball Deli. That is a tough

(03:01):
team Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Cody Clemens. That is a
really good That's a team that should be in the
Major League postseason, the Minnesota Twins. That's a tough division
though you have the team with the best record of
Major League Baseball, the Detroit Tigers are there. They just
got a I mean, but that series this weekend show

(03:24):
to me the one word that I can look at
for the twenty twenty five Mariners resilient. That's what they've
been all year long. They've been resilient. Okay, And I'm
not gonna sit here and say otherwise, because I'd be
a fool or a liar to say otherwise. They have

(03:45):
been resilient. However, now the glass half empty, this is
sports radio. Were you laughing? What's up? Because I think
I know where you're gonna go. Baby, Oh oh boy,
oh boy, did they start with JR initials JR. No, no, no,

(04:05):
no no not today, no no, no, no, no no.
This is more of a no. For the first time.
It doesn't Now I'm not gonna go there. This is
this is gonna start with the initials A M. And
the fact that now before I get to him. This
goes back to Thursday night's loss, where Colin Snyder gave

(04:29):
up five earned runs after one out in a seven
run tenth inning game was tied. Okay, it was all
tied up, Mariners. It was two to two, and then
the bottom fell out in the top of the tenth

(04:50):
inning when it went to extra innings and Colin Snyder
was awful. Well, that started a chain of events because
Friday night, for the first time, the one constant on
this team that has been lights out that you can
guarantee like death and taxes every year, Andre's Munos. What

(05:12):
was that? I couldn't believe I'm watching what I'm seeing
on Friday night. I could not believe what I was seeing,
and I said, uh oh, And that's where the comeback
from behind wins on Saturday and holding on Sunday showed

(05:34):
me how resilient this team is because Munos. I could
not believe what I was seeing on Friday night, and
for him to blow a save the way he did
on Friday night and then we just never seen it.

(05:54):
He hadn't give up an earn run all season. And
then and that went all down the toilet when Willie
Castro had a two run home run and Trevor Larnick
tied it with an RBI single, and then it was
just what is going on here? You expect that when

(06:16):
it comes to other people in the bullpen, not named Munos,
not named Gabe Speier, But I don't expect that an
Andres Munos, who has been arguably, going into Friday night,
it's still arguably the best reliever in baseball this season.
What happened there? And then I thought, I'm like, all right,

(06:39):
Dan Wilson's gonna put him in yesterday to close the game.
And he blew it again. He blew it again, giving
up the tying run, only to have them come back
and win it. So I asked this question that we've
not said at all in twenty twenty five, what's wrong

(07:01):
with Andre's Munios? Because some I don't know, very uncharacteristic
to blow not one, but two saves in back to
back opportunity one is enough. What happened on Friday night
I thought was anomaly, and then it happened again yesterday.

(07:22):
They won the game. But now we have a discussion
to talk about that something might be wrong with Andre's
and you could say, okay, Mark, maybe just it's just
a bad game. And even Michael Jordan Tom Brady had
bad games, fine, but like wow, wow, he blew two

(07:45):
games in a row, two games in a row, and
I just don't expect that from someone like him. I
don't expect it. And thankfully Randy rose Arena bailed him out,
knocking in Julio on the game winning RBI base it
in the bottom of the nine to give Munjos to win.
The one guy who I have no concerns about in

(08:08):
this Mariner's bullpen, Matt Brash, Dude's stud and I'm glad
that in case you're just joining us, and not that
this guy is anything spectacular. But one of the things
I've often wondered is why the Mariners don't have enough left.

(08:28):
They don't. They only have one left handed reliever one
and now they just acquire Joe Jocks from the Dodgers,
he was on a minor league deal. And I even
noticed that now the rotation obviously going into the season
was arguably the best rotation this side of LA with
the Dodgers, maybe even better. But I also noticed that

(08:50):
as well, does Gerard have something against left handed pitchers?
Because we don't have a left handed starter and you
only have one left handed reliever depending on Joe Jocks,
whether or not you know he can, whether or not,
how soon he's gonna be up in the bigs. But
you can never have enough left handed relievers out of

(09:10):
the bullpen. You can never have enough. And dare I say,
I hate to say, I told you so? What did
I say? What did I tell you? Last week? I asked?
I said, better not send Logan Evans down a Tacoma.

(09:33):
Better not do that, they send him down to Coma. Now,
Jackson Coorr is great. So I don't have any problems
with Kohr. I don't have any problems with him. How
about Bryce Miller? Nine starts this season, nine zero quality starts,
couldn't even get past the fourth inning on Saturday Night.

(09:57):
I mean, you had Logan Evan up here and you
wanted you wanted to bring Bryce Miller back. And the
guy he's shot, he's shot. He's a shot fighter and
I and I've watched him time and time again, and
I thought they called him back up to early. I well,
they they brought him back to early Kirby. I don't

(10:19):
have an issue with because Kirby, you gotta get live bullets.
But Bryce Miller, I don't know what it is because
last year he was one of the most reliable guys
but couldn't get out of the fourth inning. After the
fourth inning, three earned runs and four innings on Saturday
in the month of May nine six nine era in

(10:40):
the month of May. Something's wrong with Bryce Miller. Nine starts,
zero quality starts. So I ask you the question today,
what do you do about Bryce Miller? And what is
wrong with Andres Munos. I don't know. Maybe he's been
overused too much, and I can see that maybe he's

(11:03):
getting taxed a little too much and the physical wear
and tear has caught up to him. But what I
saw on Friday night, I couldn't believe what I was
watching when he gave up the two run home run
to Willie Castro and then Larnick and then the Twins

(11:24):
just went on and they won that thing in ten
they I mean, they ended up winning that. Going away,
I say, this is going to be a bad series
for this team, and they ended up coming back and
winning the next two games. Kudos to cal Raley, though,
glass at full, Glass half empty, Let's go back to
Glass at full. The third player in franchise history to

(11:46):
have over twenty home runs before the end of May,
joining A Rod and Ken Griffey Junior. He's got twenty
four right now. He's Major League Baseball's home run leader. Yes,
he should be the starting catcher in the All Star Game,
no doubt about it, no question if he stays on
this pace. With the All Star Games usually like July

(12:06):
eighth around there, so he's got a month left. If
he stays on this pace, he could have thirty five
thirty six home runs. Oh it's actually July fifteenth. Oh,
he should have thirty six home runs in six by
the next six weeks, he should have that. I mean, literally,

(12:27):
dudes on a tear. I can't say enough great things
about cal Raleigh. He right now not a transcendent star,
but in terms of stars in Seattle, probably the biggest
star in Seattle Sports Right now is cal Raley, no
doubt about it. She has put the Mariners on his back.

(12:49):
He's got six home runs in the last six games,
and he had a streak where he homed at three
games in a row. Big Dumper has been unfreaking believable.
So glass half full, cal Raleigh, Glass half full comebacks
on Saturday and Sunday. Glass half empty. Bullpen blows it

(13:10):
four games in a row, Andres Munoz blows it two
games in a row. And Bryce Miller he looks shot.
I don't know if it's more mentally than physically, but
he's shot right now. Didn't have it, doesn't nab it. Hey,
Logan Evans man, stay warm down in Tacoma, Pal, I

(13:33):
have a feeling you're gonna be getting called back up
real quickly there, sir. Stay warm and Tacoma. Don't hit
Frisco Freeze. You don't want to get I love Frisco Freese,
my favorite burger place in all of Seattle area. But
stay sharp, stay warm and Tacoma because we're gonna need
you up here in the bigs here at t Mobile
Park pretty soon. Because Logan Evans stuff has been nasty recently.

(13:56):
But they sent him down, sent him down. Oh, by
the way, help you won money, gave you another winner
on Friday. I did gave you another winner. It's about business,
it's not personal. Yes, I bet against my favorite team
because I knew they were gonna get their asses kicked
on Sunday, and I was right. I gave you Pacers

(14:19):
minus four. Blowout City, blow out City, so one money
on It suck to see my favorite teams season end.
I'm gonna go, Christopher Kidd, Why don't you mark the
tape here? Why don't you mark the tape? And maybe
the Seattle Times can can mark the tape too, since
they love to quote me on things that I say.
The Seattle SuperSonics will win an NBA title before the

(14:43):
New York Knicks. Two, The Seattle SuperSonics will win an
NBA title before the New York Knicks. I'd been alive
for four plus decades at four and a half to
be act and I can just tell you I've never

(15:04):
been alive to see the Knicks win an NBA title,
and I don't. I think I'll go the rest of
my life without seeing it. Sonics don't even have a
team right now. I mean Seattle doesn't have a team
right now, and we don't know when the Songs are
coming back. We believe they're coming back, but yes, mark
the tape, mark the tape. Nicks are so close, yet
so far away. By the time the Sonics get a

(15:29):
team back, it'll take a while. They'll suck for a
little bit. But then they got to hit on the
lottery and hopefully get the next Polo ban Cairo, the
next Cooper Flag, you know, someone of that stature, the
next Anthony Edwards, right, someone like that. They'll win a

(15:51):
title before the New York Knicks ever. Will believe me
on that one, no doubt about it. So all that
and then some But I got to give credit to
the Mariners because this was a tough, freaking series and somehow,
some way, despite their bullpen handicapping this team in the

(16:14):
last four games, including the finale against the Nats, what
they've done, what they did on Saturday and Sunday to
come back was unbelievable to me. That's what looks different
than last year. What looks different than last year. Shoheo
Tani has now scored sixty runs this season before the

(16:34):
end of June. No other player in Major League Baseball
history has ever done that. Dude is just. I mean,
what can you say enough nice things about him? So
cal Raley will be going against him in the All
Star Game coming up, So I expect cal Raley to
have about thirty six. Could you imagine if he has
forty home runs by the All Star break? It's definitely doable,

(16:56):
definitely doable. So that would be awesome, that would be amazing.
Cal Riley, He's worth the price of admission. That's all
I can say. Go see him. He is just there's
something different about him. By the way, the All Star
Games in Atlanta on Tuesday, July fifteenth, I think in

(17:18):
the next six weeks he can get the forty or
close to it over thirty five for sure. Dude's just
and I can't believe these other teams pitched to him.
That's amazing. I would not throw the ball adywhere near
the strike zone when cal Riley, Aaron Judge, show Hee
with Tani or Kyle Schwarber's up at the plate. Just
wouldn't do it. So, not gonna say anything bad about
forty four this weekend. Forty four played okay, Not gonna

(17:40):
say anything bad, Nope, Nope, No, mystere clear that there's
plenty of finger pointing and blame to go around. And
that's on the bullpen. That's on Andres Munos, and that's
on Bryce Miller not in the bullpen. But nonetheless, this guy,
there's something definitely wrong with him him. Coming up at

(18:01):
the top of the eleven o'clock hour, we will be
joined by Mike Dugar of the Athletic and coming up
at the top of the noon hour, Sam Darnold speaks
on a national show. You're not gonna believe what he
has to say. How about next? Guess who's back in
the news. Well, I would say you wouldn't believe it,

(18:24):
but you would definitely believe it. You'll find out why
next on MJ and the Midday Sports Radio ninety three
to three kJ Artham time does fly on this day,
thirty five years ago this happened Here turns the.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Left handers whine, They all two pitch on the way
sign hi, bas call Randy Johnson being mob Bye, Scott
Bradley down the great even the entire Mannertime here on
the second of June and end they won pecific day
line time. Randy Goodman with the first Maroon or no

(19:05):
hitter and history and they aren't going crazy. Everybody delinning
that Thomas Fan to ever put on a uniform in
the history of baseball, Randy Johnson has done it.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
He is so hittory Dwyce Tigers and I good or nothing?

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Bye.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Oh my, oh what a call. Oh it's so called
my Oh my love it man. Uh, you just the
old school announcers man. There's nothing better. Oh, there's nothing better. Well,
how about this. The Seattle Mariners have just announced that
they will retire Randy Johnson's number fifty one coming up

(19:44):
in a ceremony. Yes, that's correct next season. During the
twenty twenty sixth season, UH Mariner's chairman and managing partner
John Stanton said, quote, Randy's both one of the greatest
pitchers in Major League Baseball history and one of the
most important figures in our organization's history. During the nineteen

(20:04):
ninety five season that changed the future of this franchise,
his eighteen to two record was properly recognized with his
first psy Young Award. By the way, that was in
one hundred and forty five game shortened season because of
the strike at the beginning of the year. Then he
goes on to say, quote more importantly and somewhat lost
to history, the Mariners weren't amazing twenty seven to three

(20:26):
in his thirty starts that season, an incredible twenty four
games over five hundred, compared to a record of fifty
two and sixty three when any other starter took to
the hill for the club. His domination that year carried
the Mariners to our first ever postseason, which led directly
to the construction of T Mobile Park and their Mariners
remaining safely in Seattle forever. Randy's extraordinary accomplishments will forever

(20:52):
be remembered and recognized with the retirement of his number
fifty one end quote, amazing, unbelievable. One of the greatest
pitchers in Major League Baseball history. He will be the
fifth number retired in team history, after of course, the

(21:12):
kid number twenty four mister Griffy Edgar each Row, which
is coming up in a ceremony on August ninth. And
of course, all Major League Baseball teams have Jackie Robinson's
number forty two, so he will be the fifth number
retired in franchise history. Congratulations to Randy freaking Johnson, the

(21:32):
big unit, and he was. He was one of those
guys that I used to I watched interviews that even
the most badass hitters, whether it was Albert Bell or
you Canseco, they like they struck fear when they had
to face Randy Johnson. He was that guy. He was

(21:55):
that guy like lining up across the line of scrimmage
from Lawrence Taylor. That's what it was. When when a
play John Cruck used to talk about it like he
and just said yeah, Like I literally I was scared
to death because if he like it, just you just
did not want and you didn't want to piss him off.
Remember he came to Seattle in nineteen eighty nine on

(22:16):
a trade with the Montreal Expos, but his breakout season
was in nineteen ninety three, going nineteen and eight with
a three to two four ERA, the first of his
six three hundred plus strikeout seasons, So just unbelievable, unbelievable.
He was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame in
twenty twelve and the National Baseball Hall of Fame in

(22:38):
Cooperstown in twenty fifteen. The Diamondbacks retired his number that year,
so he will his number fifty one will be retired
next season here in Seattle. I think it's a great
gesture by the Mariners, absolutely great gesture. And today's the
thirty fifth anniversary of that no hitter on June second,

(23:00):
nineteen ninety Christopher Kidd wasn't even alive yet, Zach, correct, Crest,
you were two years away from being born. Well, year
was it? Nineteen ninety? Correct? I feel old?

Speaker 3 (23:15):
Man?

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Oh man, you weren't. You were two years away from
coming into this beautiful world. Wow, man, damn June second,
nineteen ninety Wow. It's just remarkable to me, remarkable but

(23:38):
also confounding how the Mariners have had so many great
freaking players that have come through here, Ken Griffy Junior,
Randy Johnson, a Rod Edgar each Yi Row and they
never made it to a World Series. I can't believe

(23:59):
that the met Tevin had a fraction of those players
go through that franchise, and they've gone to a couple
World Series. The Marlins have won two World Series and
they only came into the league in nineteen ninety three. Well,
hopefully that'll change this year. Hopefully that will change this year. Now,
just so you know, prior to that no hitter. To

(24:22):
give context, prior to that no hitter, Randy's career record
at that time going into June second, nineteen ninety was
thirteen and sixteen with a four to five to four er.
After that, it was a rocket ship. It was a
rocket ship. Yeah, there's certain things in life that would

(24:44):
scare me to death. I used to think kid that
because I'm always fascinated by the movie Jaws. So I said,
you know, Billy Donovan, the former Florida Gators coach and
current Bulls coach. Former Oklahoma City thunder coach, Billy Donovan
went down to Australia. He got in a k with
great white sharks around. I want to do that. Then
I saw a video recently that the shark got in

(25:06):
the cage. I'm like, now, I think of a pass
on that. I think I'm good.

Speaker 4 (25:10):
No, I'm good on that.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Just like the people who went down to go see
the Titanic. I think I'm good on that. No, no, no,
If I'm gonna go out, let me not go out
in a going down to find the Titanic or getting
eaten alive by Jaws. I think there are better ways
to go out, right, There are better ways to go out.

(25:32):
But uh man, wow, Randy Johnson, kudos to him, So
kudos to the Mariners and doing that and retiring his
number coming up in twenty twenty six, deservedly so, and
long overdue, way long overdue. And I'm gonna look at
some other Mariners over the course of history. How about
how about Alvin Davis? Maybe his numbers should be retired.

(25:56):
Just just look at it.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
I know he's not gonna be in Cooper's he'd never
been Cooper Town. But from a Mariner standpoint, just look
at Alvin Davis's numbers, and and you know that guy,
maybe he should after Randy Johnson in each row, he
should be the next number that is retired. All right,
coming up next. If you're gonna go out, you go

(26:19):
out with a bang, like the boys did on TNT
on Saturday night, hitting to all fields. And then Michael
Mike Dugar coming up at the top of the hour,
and then Sam Darnold spoke with Rich Eisen We will
break that down at the top of the noon hour.
Is a lot of interesting comments he made you're not

(26:40):
gonna want to miss. Right here on MJ in the
midday sports Radio, Natty three to three kJ R FM.
Just on the Mariners possibly retiring another player's number. I
mentioned Alvin Davis, so that probably won't happen. How about

(27:04):
Jay Buner, though, again we're talking about guys who were
great here in Seattle. A Jay Buner is obviously not
going to be in cooper'stown. But Jay Buhner, I mean,
you know, you should possibly look at having his number
retired here. And one of the things that I did
not realize is that when they retire Randy Johnson's number

(27:27):
next year, it's technically being retired on August ninth because
each Row and him both wore the same number, but
they're going to have a separate ceremony. So both players
wore fifty one, right, both of them. But I don't know,
maybe Jay Buner would be a guy that you could
see the Mariners possibly retiring his number one day. I mean,

(27:49):
look what he's meant to the franchise in all the
years that he I mean, the guy spent what is it,
fifteen years of his career, fourteen years of his here
in Seattle in the last fourteen years of his career
and put up put up numbers, put up some big numbers.
At three over forty home run seasons in the mid

(28:12):
nineties forty forty four and forty. So just something to
think about, something to look at for the future, about
who else could possibly get their number retired? All right,
no retirement, just more of a pause. But inside the
NBA on TNT had their final farewell show Saturday night

(28:37):
when the Pacers took care of the Knicks in Game
six at Gamebridge Field House in Indianapolis. And Well, one
of the greatest sportscasters of all time and the host
of the greatest sports studio show ever Inside the NBA,
which will be moving to ESPN next year. Now, from

(28:57):
what I understand it, there's supposed to keep it as
is and not mess it up and not try to
put you know, Kendrick well, Kendrick Perkins won't be there
because Barkley hates him, so I can guarantee you that
will never happen. But you know what I mean, not
going to put Bob Myers or you know whoever like

(29:18):
Danny Green on inside the NBA. No, you're not going
to do that. So here's Ernie Johnson just so eloquently
saying goodbye. I'll try to keep this brief.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Several years ago, I wrote a book called Unscripted, and
I've asked people to embrace the unscripted.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
I'm not fear of the unscripted.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
If I had written the script, the NBA and TNT
would be together forever.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
It's not going to happen.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
But while I was disappointed and I was sad, I
was not bitter. We know how business works. Gratitude is
the operative word for me. Grateful that it. You know,
since nineteen eighty nine, I've been with this company. No
matter what you call the company, I'll always be Turner,
and I'm grateful that I've worked with you guys. I'm

(30:12):
grateful for all of the relationships we've built professionally and
personally through the years. You just don't realize that until
you see people here on the road and say, hey,
this is probably going to be it, and you think
back to all the good times you had. So I'm
grateful for that, and also grateful that we have members
of our crew who are going to go work at

(30:34):
NBC or work at Amazon. And you know how they
got those jobs because their resumes is NBA on TNT.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
So thank you.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
We have been honored to do this as you've already heard,
the four of us are going to be together. Our
production crew is going to be together. It's going to
be that same bunch. We're still going to be shooting
that show in Atlanta. It is just going to air
somewhere else. And so the craziness that you've seen, the
nonsense and the foolishness and the top notch basketball analysis,

(31:07):
all of that stuff's going to be on. It's going
to be on ESPN or ABC next year, not on TMT.
For that, We're sad, but I'm proud to say, for
the last time, thanks for watching us. It's the NBA
on TMT.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Well, you can tell how much he really really that
hit home. That hit home now, it did Ernie Johnson
class act all the way, and it does feel But
I have a feeling that ESPN is going to leave
the show the way it is and not mess with it.

(31:44):
I have a feeling I do. Now, let's just say
that the big man, mister Shaquille O'Neal, well, let's just
say that he had some more colorful language than Ernie Johnson.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
From the youngest here. It's been a great run. It's
been an honor, Chuck. I love you like the older
brother that I never had. And if you say something,
I will whoop your ass one last time on this
show right now, Ernie, you came to my house in
nineteen eighty nine, nineteen ninety one. It's the big honor.
So I don't know for me to be sitting up
here with you, Kenny, the way y'all embarrassed us in

(32:21):
ninety four to ninety five of you and m keem.
You taught me what it was to be a champion.
And we're a family. I'm glad we're sticking together. And
like I said, even though the name changes, the engine
is still the same. And to that new network, we're
coming too. We're not coming to f around. And since
it's the last show, I'm gonna say it, were not coming.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
To four round?

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Are you taking an ass? I'm not taking names? And
we take it over. I love you guys, I appreciate
you guys. But hey, all right, let me see that
number one time for a number one show ever on TV,
and we come over to take over.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
That next network too. We kick it ass. We taken names,
and we're taken over. Oh that that is uh yeah, yeah,
don't mess with that thing, man, you're getting breaking bad,
you're getting the sopranos. Just let the creative people and
from what I understand, all the coordinating producer the show run.

(33:20):
Everybody's still going to stay the same. So don't mess
it up, Bristol, don't mess it up. Now, somebody out
there thinks that Bristol will mess it up? What do
you think, Bill Simmons?

Speaker 5 (33:34):
And it's still going to continue on ESPN Ryeah, just
saying what you want to say, show up aggregation. I
think they're going to the show up. Unless they completely
change how they do commercials, the show is going to
be different, and people are going to be pissed and

(33:55):
Barklay and those guys are going to be pissed, and
I think it's going to go badly. The only way
it doesn't go badly is if they do the commercials
and they give them the lengthy segments that you need
to have that show work. They're gonna have to change
how they do it. They just paid so much for
the NBA that if they don't do that and they
do these same short, terrible segments that you're about to
see in the finals where it's like a one and

(34:15):
a half minute halftime and it's like a twenty minute pregame.
If they do that, they're going to show up and
everybody's gonna be bad. So I'm gonna start there Withsilla.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
That was on the Bill Simmons podcast with Ryan Roscillo.
I hope they don't. I hope they don't, and I
hope that they just leave well enough alone because ESPN
has never been able to get their NBA coverage right
for games ever. Now you're getting you're getting a hit show.

(34:46):
Just leave it alone. Let them do their thing the
way ESPN does with Pat McAfee. Just let Pat McAfee
be him and don't try to alter or edit him
in any way. They can't because he has a contractual
agreement that they can't. He can drop ant bombing. There's
nothing ESPN can do about it. Now. I don't think Shack,
Barkley and Kenny are gonna get that kind of autonomy.

(35:07):
But just let it go, Let it go, let them
be right, kid, let them be great. I mean, you
don't need to do anything. Just let it be great.

Speaker 6 (35:16):
There's a reason why they lasted as long as they
did on TNT A man, So I'm hoping that ESPN
doesn't try to put their imprint on its however that
may look. Because they've done a really good job. They
don't need anything. You just let them do what they do.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
I know the station's change per se in that regard.
It's not gonna be on TNT, but they're still the
same guys. But they said it's still gonna be from
the same studio in Atlanta. That's perfect, that's right, So
I would. I'm sure everyone has told ESPN this, so
they just have They just have to let it roll,
let it roll out, and people will watch as they
always done. Nothing's gonna change other than the fact that

(35:52):
it's TNT now or yes, ESPN ABC, So that's the
one thing that changes. But other than that, you're gonna
have all those guys still doing their thing as long
as they don't come in and try to put there.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Yeah, bristolize it. Bristol as Ian and I Infness and
I talked about they bristolized it. Don't touch it. Just
don't touch it. Leave it alone. And you try to
start telling Charles and Shack what they can and cannot do,
you're gonna they'll call you out in the air. Remember this.
Inside the NBA doesn't need ESPN. ESPN desperately needs inside

(36:27):
the NBA, and don't ever forget that. All right, Mike
Dugar from the Athletic we're gonna talk to him. We
got some Seahawks talk coming up and a lot of things,
and that's happened in the offseason. It's been a while
since we talked to mister Dugard. We'll do that next
on MJ in the midday top of the noon hour.
Sam Darnold spoke to Rich Eisen What did he say.

(36:47):
We'll get to all that right here on ninety three
to three kJ Rtham
