um, their grandparents always did thisamazing Easter egg hunt, right, but
(01:27):
it was a treasure map with clues. They didn't just go out into the
yard and find the colored eggs. No, no, no, it was
just clues and you had to followthe clue to get to the next clue.
And they always had enough Easter eggsfor all the grandkids because we had
a pretty extended you know family orwhatever. Sounds like fun and it was
(01:49):
fun. So you get little prizesand things like that, and whoever found
the one usually it was like twentybucks in there, so it was like,
oh they got egg, has themoney in it, right, But
now twenty bucks, you know, doesn't even buy it like two gallons of
gas or anything. But we wejust we had fun. That's good.

like five minutes later come this isthe rim by and five minutes later,

god, those lines are blowing up. Man. I feel so sorry for
(17:23):
the people that have to edit. This shows me the EQ man is totally
off. Oh my goodness. Ohboy. Well, so I really wish,
you know, Mountain Man got aset of these headphones because when I
talk loud, which isn't really thatloud, but to me, it's loud
that my voice is cracking and he'stwenty feet away and he can't hear me.
(17:45):
There's a problem. I mean,it's you know, it's probably a
good thing for our relationship, youknow that he can't hear I have the
stuff that I spew out of mymouth. But you know, I I'm
one of them worry what's right orwhatever you call it? You know,
yeah, I know, so yeah, you know you know exactly what I
mean. So if I slip andfall and can't get up and I yell
(18:06):
out to him, He's not gonnahear me and I'm gonna die on the
floor. But so that's he needsto get a hearing aid. Well,
I have the hearing aide. Atleast hear a man about it and admit
it. Well do I wear him? Now? I only went when I
watched TV basically, and like todayeven went out to breakfast me in Norman.
She's like talking to I'm like, what but your hearing agin? I'm
(18:27):
like that, why are they hold? Is exactly how I feel. Hey,
speaking about our listeners out there,if they want to get involved with
something, I'm looking forward right now. We have all beer coming out,
the motorcycle, Mayhem, radio IPA. I'm looking for a good um slogan
for it. So the ones thatbecome a bit now either my son don't
(18:48):
like it, or I don't likeit, or the debats the beer brew
we don't like it, So giveme some ideas. Guys, I think
I want a ready what does it? You know our other slogans too things?
So why not it's a two beerthing and people have to buy two
beers? Two be a thing? Why not? I will slip that in.
He will slip it in, andI want credit for it. Oh
(19:11):
there you go, Mama Dukes again. It's a two beer thing to be
a thing. But then you'll belike, what was the other one?
Don't get them for free? No, it's a two you have to buy
two beers. We need the money. But I still want the slogans people
to come in a lot of ideas, So you know, email us moments
like a Mayhem radio show at gmaildot com, and I'll love to hear
what you can come up with. And you know, I'll tell you what
(19:33):
if I do like your slogan,I'll send you a shirt. No,
send them beer, Well, Ican't. Are you allowed to do that?
You can ship beer? Yeah, they can come and pick it up.
Oh, well, you have tobe over the age of the legal
drinking age. We can't give itto anybody that's underage. But they have
to have don't you gift alcohol topeople. Yeah, yeah, so you
(19:56):
so you're gonna know, so you'regonna gift them to be a so they
have to come out to call backor all right, So if your slogan
works, well, it'll be onthe beer can and uh, you come
out to watch studio and you can. I'll give you some beer. How's
that saying? And you can't openit or drink it on the way home,
No, because we're against that.Yeah we cannot. We can't do
that though. No, that's yourpassenger. You can't do it that.
(20:18):
Yeah, I don't know it's gonnabe warm anyway. So yeah, you
know it's an IPA man. Youhave to chill that to the right temperare.
And funny, I'm not even abig IPA guy. I'm like a
summer someone l blonde. So allright, I got a trivia question for
you, mister IPA man. Whatdoes ipa mean? Oh? Indian pall
Oh, I'm very impressed. Wowyeah, all right in pl okay,
(20:42):
good for you. So I'm notI was never a big IPA guy.
It was like, uh, likeI said, someone else or a blonde
or whatever, you know, becauseyeah, that's more Dawn dying her hair
right, Yeah, okay, no, that's fine. No. I was
never really a beer person in general, except for I guess it's the Irish.
(21:03):
I mean, like a good guinnessor something. You're like in this,
Yeah, I do. What's thatball in the city? Um?
Make soulis make souls? You likethat place? Yes, it's great.
I put my friend Ray in there. They have you know, if you
bring it the dust, you know, if you bring a picture of somebody
that you dearly departed, that youlove, they will hang it somewhere in
the bar. Yeah. But theyhave a thing in one area and they
(21:26):
slid it underneath the I like thatplace. We went there with a bunch
of people. We all took thebikes in one day, went in there,
and people they just keep putting intheir seats, flooding, sliding,
sliding. There You're sitting with peoplewho don't even know and it was awesome.
So I got to the guy,I go, what a beauty.
Half looked at me dark or light? And then that kept coming out with
(21:48):
these beers, right, biers,Oh that plays amazing. But the dust
in that place, the dust waslike three thick, hanging up everything.
But that's the oldest ball in thecity. Right, No, it is
not. It's not the book nowit is not nearest tavern near seven,
nearest tavern in Queens. Yes,No, I'm in Manhattan. You said
the city Queens is part of thisis crazy bow the city. Oh my
(22:14):
god, we're gonna argue about this. When you say, well, then
you have to specify in Manhattan,Manhattan, the oldest bar in New York
City Manhattan? Okay? Should Ibelieve it's Missley's? I believe in the
five boroughs of New York City it'snearest tavern, nearest tavern, all right,
I'll take that one. So dothey have their own beers though,
(22:37):
like Missalis, I'm sure they havebeer that they're notable for. But what
they're most noted for for most peopleis there was a scene in The Godfather
that was shot at that bar.Oh that the cop in the back?
Whatever, the bar scene in TheGodfather, I don't know that. I
don't know, like you with sportsand in years when it first opened,
(23:00):
it used to be a bar anda bowling alley and a grand Oh no,
they had a ballroom in the back. Excuse me. So it used
to be like the whole length ofthe block. But now it's just the
bar part and uh marl um uhMaywest. This is how old the bar
is. He's just saying that.Wow, good stuff. Missouls Misley's was
(23:23):
a great bar though. They uhthey had the hottest master that ever had.
But it was great riding into thecity for a while on the hot
summer night. You take a nicewide into the city. Right. We
used to go to Hogs and Halfis if you rode your bike there.
Oh I miss Hogs and Half. You didn't have to wait online. They
let you ride in in. Thatwas awesome those days. Good stuff,
man, But yeah, I missedthat place too. That was a lot
(23:45):
of fun. But there's a lotof Vegas. What are you seeing?
Oh, yeah, you're wrong.I'm wrong. It's not mixed, it's
not No what do we got?Apparently the oldest bar in New York City
is prnciss taarn. Oh, that'sdowntown. That's Drift before Pearl Street in
New York City. George Washington actuallyate there or stayed there. George was
(24:06):
seventeen sixty two it opened. Ohmy goodness, that's pretty damn all.
That's that places haunted. I hadthe little cop machine to that place why
And they were saying the places haunted? Why? What the cop here?

(28:38):
twenty ninth, we will run sevenmarathons in seven days to bring awareness to
all of our veterans on Long Islandand to raise funds for veterans organizations on
Long Island. And this will beour seventh year. Chefs here. Yes,
now do you actually you run?Yes? So every day you're running?
Every day, I will run afull marathon twenty six point two miles
(29:02):
on Long Island. Wait, wait, wait, hold on, So you've
run twenty six point two miles. You said yes? Every day, Yes,
during the week for seven days.Ye. Me and Chris is sweating
over here from walking from the outsidethat door into the studio. I broke
a sweat. So you're gonna tellme that you run, run, not
walk? Yes, twenty six milesa day. Yeah, so each route
(29:25):
is approximately twenty six summer round sumroutes, so longer. We have had
had a few stops in this year, so we have one in two days
out of twenty eight to thirty onemiles. So we had to you know,
we we tried to reach as manylocations on Long Island that we call
up point to honor, and atthose point of honor we put down flowers
to remember those who have served ourcountry and who have given up, you
(29:48):
know, who have lost their livesfor our freedoms. That is awesome.
So where you're starting this year, she got You're starting in the day one,
Sunday, April twenty third. Youknow on him in the Goldstaff families.
And we know some people that dothe same thing. Tony Price is
a friend of the show. Heactually does every Memorial Day with us.
He comes to he rides to NewYork from Minnesota. He's actually going somewhere
(30:12):
to visit one of the gold Startfamilies, and he stops at our studio
every Memorial Day. That's a that'sa cool thing. So I see that
you're honor in the Ghost families. So you're starting in Huntington Comport right,
Yeah, so yep. So we'llbe studying in Huntington on Sunday, April
twenty third. The opening ceremony isat ten am. Um. I do
(30:33):
want to thank Long Island Debate,PGR Riders, PGR, PGR and Rolling
Thunder because they will be leading usout when we start for the day for
the first mile, So again Iwant to thank them so much for coming
out and supporting our event once again. Now just a police escorted run during
parts of it. We do havesome police escorts because there are some roads
(30:55):
that we do need to have thetraffic traffic block. So do you have
a certain um uh, well you'retaking for the day one? Yeah,
So in day one we do startin Huntington and then we work our way
into UM into Northport. Again, there's twenty six point two miles. We
will be making over a dozen stops. We will be stopping at UM memorials
(31:18):
and local resting places of some ofour full and heroes, our gold Star
families in the local area in Northport. We will be stopping at homes of
gold Star families. We will bestopping in Northport at the Engeman Theater to
remember John Engeman who served for forour country. We will also be started
(31:40):
stopping at the Northport Firehouse and thenwe will also be going to the VA
Hospital as well to put down flowersat that location as wow. So how
many people do you usually have withyou? Our team consists of about seven
people. He set up each dayso runners can come in and run the
last five k or the distance thatwe have this year, our distances from
(32:02):
five k to eleven miles UM forAH nominal donation of thirty dollars. Runners
can join in at the point wherewe had designated UH and they will receive
a commemorable coin as well as aT shirt. Wow, that's fantastic.
I actually heard that there was avirtual that you could getting john involved with
(32:23):
Johnny But yeah, I said,I did. I did the run.
Yeah, how'd you do it?Virtual? Because there's no way I'm one
of twenty six miles a day.I could barely walk a mile a day.
Come on. There's also a linkto follow the course, right,
Yes, there is. Every daywe put up a live link on Facebook
(32:46):
on our Facebook page, which isTeam every Veteran Appreciated, we will have
a live link that's a map thatwill show you exactly where we are at
that particular point. That is awesome. How did you get involved with something
like this? So I was stillto run some local veterans runt on Long
Island and as I was doing that, it was meaning a lot of the
gold Star families and as um anUltra runner I just felt it's important.
(33:09):
You know, I was given thisgift to run long distance and to use
it for for something good, tohelp others. Right, So this is
what we decided, you know,to help some of our goal star families.
Would you go with twenty six miles? Uh? For ultra running?
That's a that's kind of a formatthat I was done seven seven maritimes and
seven days. You know, I'vedone that format before for other organizations,
(33:32):
and I decided that it works reallywell because it takes it's a whole week
of awareness for our veterans, andI you know, each day you hear
about it more and more, andyou know, I think that really helps
the cost. So what do youdo to train for this? You have
something you eat? Right Like,I couldn't do this right now. You
(33:52):
couldn't do it ever unless we didlike we went to a white Castle.
Then we went to a Burger Kingmaybe, but otherwise, I do you
how do you train for something likethis? My training is, um,
you know, I get up tolike one hundred, one hundred and ten
miles a week, right, Um. I did a lot of long runs,
back back to back, long runstwenty miles back to back. Uh.
(34:12):
And you know food wise, um, you know a lot of carbs,
protein, you know whatever whatever.I can pretty much eat whatever I
want. I kind of stick moreto a plant based diet. Um and
it really works for me. Andit's really just the training that that um
it gets to get the miles in. Awesome. So now they've shot on
(34:35):
day two is on Monday from Farmingdaleto east Meadow. Is that what that
is? Farmdale's Meadow? Ah?Yeah, So on day two Monday,
we started Long Island National Cemetery.Okay, so what we will do there
this year is we will put downroses at thirty two grave sites of post
nine to eleven heroes okay. Um. And then from there we leave there
(34:58):
and we run well through Merrick andfarming Day I'm sorry, through um well
through uh Levittown, East Meadow,Levittown and we we will eventually get over
to Eisenhower Park. Um. Wewill pick up runners there and they will
take them on a run and thenwe will end at the uh the Veterans
(35:20):
Park at Eisenhower Park and we putdown about forty different flowers because they have
about forty different monuments. Wow,that's a good goal. So welcome Kate
Fox to the show. Eva Eva, Hi Kate, and uh, you
know, I mean we get westart to show A six six said,
I'm in the car. I'm inthe I'm in the car at the light
at the airport, listening to youtell about how you run twenty six miles
(35:42):
a day during your run. AndI'm listening to this one and then I
get out of my car and I'mtrying to run through the airport and I'm
like, no, but but ohmy goodness, wow. Right, but
she's in shape. I'm I mean, can you imagine me. They'd be
like, you're at twenty six feetand that's it. I'm done. That
(36:06):
didn't happening. Actually, more thanher doing it, more than you doing
the run itself, is why you'redoing it, right. That is so
huge, and that's that's you know, some of us are in not as
good shape. But I also heardyou say that people can do it at
their own pace or different levels.Correct. Yeah. So when we have
(36:27):
the runners come and join us atthe the end of the day, the
last five k or so, werun as a group, so we make
I make sure I keep everybody together, so I'll gauge what the pace should
be based on who's with us.And it's not a race, it's just
a journey. So the running isbasically the journey that you know, gets
us from location to location to helpus with our mission. That's all.
(36:50):
So I keep everybody together. That'sawesome. That's awesome. So but you
know, it's it's a fantastic thingthat you're doing. Yeah, and you
know, and you're helping yourself aswell, because he still can't get over
and you know, it's it's afantastic and it's for our veterans too.
It's actually for you know, ourveterans, our first responders. They get
(37:12):
forgotten so much so and so tohave you do something like this, it's
huge. I'm Johnny Rijo and we'llbe back with up to be messogician.

(39:06):
I can't believe that you one oftwenty six miles every eight years.
Maybe I don't run. I don't. One is six miles a day,
Kate, I don't run. Oh, I know. I think it's phenomenal,
you know, twenty I mean Icould drive twenty six miles a day.
I can walk. I'll walk. Can you walk twenty six miles a
(39:29):
day? Yeah? Really? IfI had to get absolutely I could do
maybe six miles a day. I'mmy kidding two miles a day? No,
well, I've done nine in aday. I've done nine. You
yes, I have foot on foot, my feet, my feet, Zoe.
So so even how do you getfrom one point to the other after
(39:50):
the walk is over? We stayedin a hotel. They how do you
matters? What happens? Then?Um, the team usually goes home because
we do it all on Long Island. So we usually we have a van
in the front and then the runnersaroun in the middle, and then like
three or four cards behind us becausewe're always you know, looking out for
safety. But when we end theday, we usually you know, all
go home and then we grouped thenext morning at the next location. So
(40:13):
what what's your achieve? When youget home? You soak your feet,
I mean, um, you knowthe usual shower. I have these compression
boots that I put on for acouple of hours that really help with recovery.
Right, I do that? Sohave you? Was there ever a
time we didn't? You couldn't doit? Like I can't do this.
I feel like given up? Andwhat keeps you motivated? Thinking about the
(40:35):
heroes that we lost, that thosethat we honor among island, all the
families that come out with us,that are there with each each day.
Um, you know, their sonsthat they've lost. You know, I
think about them. I think aboutthem helping pushing me. You know,
it is hard think about them helpingpushing me through. And um, you
know we've had some interesting weather days. We've had days where they were northeasters,
(40:59):
We've and snow, we've had sleep, we've had hell. So you
know, just thinking about why we'redoing it, and you know everything that
those who serve our country, whatthey have to endure, you know,
and we just have you know,we just get through the day. Wow.
Yeah, you know what, theweather is a fact that I didn't
think about the weather. Especially, that's because you don't think about running.
(41:21):
Here's got a roof over my headwhen I'm driving. You know. Well,
I have a question though, andI don't know if you answered this
or not when I was running inhere, But how did you get involved
in this? What made you startdoing this? Yeah? Exactly, Yeah,
I started to sorry about that. The gold Star families. You know,
I just decided, you know,it was time something needed to be
(41:42):
I wanted to put something together tohonor and remember them and keep doing it.
You know. So now you takedonations, right, how does somebody
want to do How did they doit? If you we are taking donations
and all of the money stays hereon Long Island for Long Island Veterans and
Veterans organizations. You can go togo team eva dot org and you can
make a donation. That's awesome,Joe, go to EVA dot org make
(42:06):
a donation. Awesome. Now somebodywants get involved, how do they?
Let's say, I want to I'mnot gonna happen on the same I want
to run hypothetically, I'm ahetically speaking. Johnny wants to get involved. I
might take a skateboard. All right, now, thanks for the visual,
(42:27):
but no, so let's just sayKate wants to do to run again.
It makes a lot more sense,It does a little bit. No,
you don't know much time. Yeah. So also on our website go team
eva dot org, we have youyou can donate and you can also register
for the run, and like Chrisdid mention, we do a virtual where
you can sign up and just walka mile a day to just help support
(42:50):
us. And we will also sendyou out our T shirt and our our
challenge coin. Oh that's all. That's awesome. I'm liking that. Actually,
I'm loving that. Yeah, Ikeep walking mile with Yeah, no
doubt. So have you ever thoughtabout taking this national a course the country
or I would love to kind ofexpand on this. Yeah. You know,
(43:10):
it takes a lot of work firstto put it together locally. You
know, we have to work withum all the towns and the local law
enforcement and you know we sometimes wedo need police ask courts, uh,
and you know we need permission togo into the national cemeteries. But it
is something you know, we havethought about, you know, putting together
(43:30):
and maybe may bringing it elsewhere. That's that's awesome. You know, I
know they're having a home on theshow. You know, it makes sense
to have it on a motorcycle manbecause she does a lot with the vets,
and so does motorcycle Mayan and alongon the bait and the motorcycles are
huge involved with this. Like Isaid, Tony Price, you remember Tony
Price. Don't know if you metTony He is with the ghost of family.
(43:51):
He I don't. I don't thinkI met him. I've heard him
speak to you. He rides outto our studio every Memorial Day. Well,
that's true, he has. Iwould love to get him hooked up
with Eva, you know, anduh, maybe she could do something.
I would love that she go national. I would love to see you do
uh like walk across America or somethinglike that. No pressure, no pressure,
(44:15):
I mean hypothetically speaking, I didit with you. But it's nice
of you to volunteer. Look atlook at U. She's in shape.
You see. The only shape Iam is round right now? Round is
the shape. It's a shape.But she can do that. I can't
do this. No, we know, we're all aware. A man's got
(44:38):
his limitation. But she chip thisout. She can do these things.
Let's just say, hypothetically, speakinga quotes, she goes to Daytona Beach
and does it on the beach, the beach walk right and not maybe not
twenty six miles, but to doa walk on the beach, get a
lot of people over there to doit, or walk to Key West from
(45:01):
Key logo. Let's just say,you know what I mean, I mean,
I don't know. Do you haveany thoughts on that? She looked
at me like, no, youdon't have to answer that if you don't
want to, you know, yeah, anything to bring awareness for those who
have served, that kind of know, that's really what what you know?
I'd loved it. So let mesee him on when on Tuesday you're gonna
(45:22):
go to um Brookhaven West Saville,Medford and then Wednesday you'll be out of
East Rockaway and Copeg. So youwalking from East Rockaway to Cope. Yeah,
we run from East Rockaway to Kopegand along the way on that day
we stop at over um fifteen VFWAmerican Legion posts and we place flowers at
(45:44):
wow at those locations. How longdoes this usually take you to do this?
Whole? Um each day is probablylike six seven hours because of the
stops that we make throughout the wholeweek. We make over three hundreds We
make over hundred stops. We putout over three hundred single roses. We
put our maybe two dozen wreaths andcones. So there's a lot of flowers
(46:06):
that we put out of all theselocations that we go to. Okay,
so we have carts following you obviously, yeah, fans, right, so
you need to have that. Yougot play of water and stuff like that,
I'm sure. I mean you takethese breaks without stopping somewhere like just
yeah, we do take breaks, and we take what we do, take
some walk breaks and then we willpull the caravan over and you know,
take breaks to um to rehydrate andand do you know need stuff. Okay,
(46:31):
awesome, So you got um SagHarbor or What'shampton Beach. That's an
awesome walk run walk seam. I'mtalking. Uh, you got Bayville to
glenn Hove that we have. You'repretty much covering a huge part of Long
Island here, natural and Suffolk.Yeah, we try to do as much
as we can. In h year, we had a little bit more and
(46:51):
we find that there's other locations thatwe can go to and stop at.
Wow. Okay, that is great. It really is a great thing that
you're doing. And I love thatyou want the show with us today and
that she'dnna be doing some more showswith us. Monday night, she's coming
into so she should walk in andsee the food that we eat and she'd
be like, how do you guyslive? That's why we don't run ballots
(47:12):
now. I was saying the hubbefore. When I first met him,
I said, yeah, we haveum, we had a lot of food
and stuff coming to the studio Monday. She was, don't you ever wait
in Monday. He's pretending it's notgonna happen. Yeah, you know,
I'm hoping that Jim blew up likea balloon. I know I did.
I mean look at me like, don't look at me like that done?
You give me that look? Allright? I am don even Joe and
