(00:00):
Donald Trump is gaining ground nationally againstJoe Biden. A kid in Colorado strikes
a strong blow for the preservation ofhistory, and a woman in Chicago learns
one place she should not store herhandgun. Let's jump right in. In
a world that's constantly buzzing with updates, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the
sheer volume of headlines and information. That's why I'm here to help you navigate

(00:21):
the endless waves of day to dayupdates. I'm Ethan Buchanan and this his
news wave. Alrighty, before weget started, I do want to say
we are now live on Apple Musicand Spotify and the iHeart Radio app,
so basically wherever you get your podcasts, you can now find us there.

(00:41):
First week of the podcast done.We are now rolling into the second on
this Monday morning, and I wantto say a quick thank you to you
guys, the listeners, because wehave already had such great success with this
podcast is doing really well. I'vebeen looking at the statistics just kind of
following along with it. I'm havinga lot of fun doing this and it
looks like y'all are enjoying listening toit. So thank you for keeping that
up. But yeah, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, whatever your favorite podcasting platform

(01:04):
is, check us out there, follow us, give us a review,
really appreciate it, really helps toshow out. And now let's go ahead
and jump right into the news now. Of course, last week one of
the big pieces of news was DonaldTrump got mug shotted or mug shot or
whatever it is. I was talkingwith my mom the other day and it
was like, what's the proper termfor that? What is it just getting
a mug shot taken? What's what'sthe past tense way to say that properly?

(01:29):
I just I don't know, Butif you know, definitely reach out
to me on social media and letme know, because it was bugging the
heck out of me. And mymom had like a ten minute conversation or
and I going back and forth aboutit. But yeah, Donald Trump had
his mug shot taken last week, and one of the big talking points was,
and has been for quite some time, how is this going to affect
him in the general election? Weknow how it will affect him in the

(01:49):
primary, which is basically over atthis point because of that mug shot.
That's all that's all done. Ofcourse, every time there's a new update
in this stuff. His poll numbersin the primary just skyrocket up. He
is as of right now, Trumpis sitting at about fifty two percent according
to five thirty eight, and thenRona Santis is down somewhere in the low
twenties. So, as much asI don't want to say it's completely over,

(02:10):
it's basically completely over. So thatjust leaves the general election. And
we've been talking sometime ever since thefirst indictment. This is obviously going to
help him in the primary, butis it going to hurt him in the
general? Is this gonna make himless electable to the average Joe. And
so when it comes to how thisis going to affect the general election,
there's basically two schools of thought. One school of thought is the independent voter

(02:34):
is going to see this and they'regonna think, oh my god, this
is so evil. The Republicans areright, we have to vote for Donald
Trump. And then the other schoolof thought is the independent voters are going
to say, Okay, Trump isjust too polarizing and figure, there's too
much going on. We just can'thave this in office. I'm not going
to vote for him, even thoughdespite how terrible. Everything is going.
I can't have somebody like this inthe White House because I just want normalcy.

(02:58):
I just want regular life. Sonow that we've had several days to
kind of let the dust settle onthis, let's see where we're at.
We've got a poll now, it'sfrom you gov, and apparently this is
actually not hurting Trump. It's doingquite the opposite. This is an article
from bright Barton News and let's seehere, former President Donald Trump leads President
Joe Biden in a national head tohead matchup post mugshot. The Lettist survey

(03:20):
from economists slash YouGov found. Thesurvey take in August twenty six through twenty
ninth among one thousan five hundred USadult citizens. Asked residents to respond who
they would vote for if the presidentialelection came down to Trump and Biden.
Overall, forty four percent said theywould support Trump, compared to forty three
percent who said Biden and seven percentwho said other. Three percent say they
were not sure, and another threepercent said they would not vote. So

(03:45):
right off the bat, this isnot a huge lead. It's worthwhile to
mention that this isn't like Trumps justopening a gap and running away with it
in a head to head with JoeBiden. But at the same time,
we have seen lately Joe Biden andDonald Trump have been either tied or Joe
Biden is just ahead. So whatwe're seeing here is a lead start to
open up in Donald Trump's favor, which is a small reversal because it's a

(04:10):
small lead, but it is areversal nonetheless of what we have been seeing.
And we also have to take intoaccount the fact that this is going
to keep going and big stuff likethis is going to keep happening. And
one thing, we also have toconsider this Georgia case, with this mug
shut that has boosted him so much, and this is by far the most
out of the box, most outlandish, most clearly political case of all of

(04:32):
them. It's great news for himthat this will probably also be televised.
Now, federal court, you can'thave cameras in the courtroom, but this
is a State of Georgia case againstDonald Trump, which means there will be
pictures, There will be cameras inthe courtroom, and we may very well
have this televised. If this caseagainst Donald Trump is televised, you can

(04:55):
expect to see him shoot way upin the polls. I'm just predicting it
right now because is Trump after twentyor however many years of him being in
the public picture, in cameras,in photos on TV. Trump knows how
to be on camera. We sawthat with the mug shot. This mug
shot comes out and he makes sevenmillion dollars off of it because he knows

(05:15):
how to have his picture taken. If you don't think he knows how to
be on camera, you're dead wrong. Trump will kill it in an on
camera courtroom and he will see amassive boost in the polls. So if
you're a Trump supporter, if you'rewanting Trump to go as far as he
can with this, then definitely crossyour fingers and hope to God that this
court case gets televised. Alrighty now, I want to talk about the news

(05:39):
that was circulating a lot late lastweek about this kid in Colorado Springs who
got kicked out of school for wearingthe Gadsdon flag on his backpack. Now,
if you somehow missed it, firstof all, the Gadsdon flag's that's
the snake with the don't tread onme. That's what the Gadston flag.
Is it originated during the during theRevelutionary War. You'll see it a lot

(06:01):
in Revolutionary War movies. But incase you missed it, here is the
Fox News article about it. Twelveyear old boy booted from class over Gaston
flag patch on backpack quote origins withslavery. A video circulating on social media
platform x formerly Twitter this week depicteda young elementary school student in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, being removed from class forhaving a Gaston flag patch on his

(06:24):
backpack. The clip appeared to berecorded by twelve year old Jaden's mother as
she, her son, and aschool administrator discussed the boy being pulled from
class at the Vanguard School that daybecause of the patch. According to the
staffer at the Colorado Charter school, the patch was quote disruptive to the classroom
environment and that it has quote originswith slavery. Jaden's mother disputed this school

(06:45):
staff member throughout the meeting, arguingthat the flag originated during the American Revolution
as a symbol of the Thirteen Coloniesfight against the British Crown and did not
promote slavery, which is of courseobviously true now of course, anyone who
knows anything about history, specific theAmerican history and the American Revolution knows that
this is ridiculous. But nevertheless, sometimes we do still see that argument.

(07:06):
People will say, oh, Americawanted to leave England before the English crown
came in and bammed slavery, whichis of course ridiculous. It was the
English who brought slavery to the continentof North America, and of course slavery
wasn't banned in England until after theRevolution. It was like the eighteen thirties,
I believe, So saying that theAmerican Revolution was fought over slavery is

(07:29):
ridiculous on its face, and ofcourse that eliminates any association of the Gadson
flag with slavery. It has nothingto do with slavery. It never has
and it never will. But here'sthe good news. This video that was
recorded by this kid's mother sparked awhole lot of outrage on Twitter slash X.
I'm just gonna call it X fromhere on out. Let this be
a message to all future listeners. If you hear me say X, I'm

(07:53):
talking about what was Twitter, becausethat's what it's called now, it's called
X for whatever reason. But anyway, this video made a a huge uproar.
Bunch of people got worked up aboutit. It was all over the
news, and of course that meantthe school ended up having to backpedal.
But this, of course is asymptom as everything is of something bigger.

(08:13):
I want to point you back tocirca twenty fifteen, when the Confederate flag
really came into the crosshairs and peoplestarted coming after kind of Confederate history and
all that stuff. The argument thatwas made by people opposing the removal of
Confederate symbolism and Confederate statues was wheredoes it stop. It's going to start

(08:33):
with Confederate history and whatnot, andthen it's going to move even farther.
We're going to start coming after theFounding Fathers next. And at the time
those people were called conspiracy theorists, and they were called ridiculous and this,
that and the other. But ofcourse, as is the going trend right
now, all conspiracies are coming true. We've seen, especially over twenty twenty,

(08:54):
that shift from just the removal ofCivil War history and Confederate history to
just history in general. Now youmight not remember this, but even during
the twenty twenty riots, we sawstatues of Abraham Lincoln being ripped down by
BLM protesters. So, come tofind out the people that we're saying this
isn't going to stop. They're comingfor all the history. Those people were

(09:16):
right, And that makes you wonderwhy why are they coming so hard against
all of history? Why are theycreating these false narratives about American history and
then using those false narratives to destroyAmerican history? And I think the answer
is because the left in America doesn'twant to just change America. They want
to fundamentally rebuild America from the groundup. When you're rebuilding a building,

(09:39):
what's the first thing you do.You start at the foundation. You tear
the whole building down, all theway down to the foundation, and then
you start over, and you're seeingthe very same thing. They're changing history,
or at least they're trying to.They're changing the narrative around history,
and they're coming for all of it. And I believe once they've successfully vilified
the founding fathers and that kind offounding a of history so much, they'll

(10:01):
finally be able to say, okay, so look at things like the Second
Amendment, which we've seen the leftcome after so hard in recent years,
last fifteen, twenty years, andthen especially the last five to ten.
Eventually there's going to be a poemwhere they say, listen, this was
created by these guys who fought theirrevolution for slavery, even though it's that's

(10:22):
a complete lie. But their goalis to change history so that that's believed
to be the truth. And atthat point then they can start coming after
and making fundamental changes to the constitution. See that's why I'm such a big
believer in the preservation of history. It is so important for a people to
know where they came from and howthe decisions that their ancestors made affect where

(10:45):
they are in the present day.Of course, there's that old adage those
who don't know history are doomed torepeat it. And if we want to
kind of avoid ending up in atyranny, if we want to avoid being
governed by a tyrant, it's goodto keep in mind the last time,
the closest example that we have ofus being governed by a tyrannical body.

(11:07):
It's important to remember how we gotto that point of being governed by a
tyrant. And it's important to rememberwhat we did to avoid that, to
get away from that, and tocreate a free and industrious society like the
one that we have right here. And of course, the flip side of
that coin is if you're trying tocreate a tyranny, if you're trying to
return America to a time when thegovernment had complete control over the people,

(11:31):
the best way to do that isto distort the memory of why we don't
have that. So, yeah, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist,
but I do very much believe thatthere is a reason that history is being
so attacked by the left, andI do think it's important to resist that.
It's important to teach history, toknow history. I encourage every single
one of you, in your freetime, try to learn something about history.

(11:54):
Try to go back and do someresearch. If you a really good
place to start, sit down andread the Declaration of Dependings. If you
haven't recently sat through and just readthe Declaration of Independence, do it.
It is, of course, oneof our nation's founding documents, and it
is a brilliant piece of writing, and of course it's the document that forever
changed the course of human history, and especially here in the United States.

(12:16):
That document is one of the thingsthat for the last two hundred and fifty
years, before you were a twinklein your great grandfather's eye, that document
has had the biggest effect on yourlife of just about any document. But
yeah, these are just the thoughtsthat were kind of coming to my mind
as I was reading this article. It's kind of just a good example of

(12:37):
that mindset from the left that we'vebeen seeing of them just coming after history
so hard. But shout out tothis kid and his mom for keeping history
alive. Shout out to everybody whojust got on Twitter and threw a fit
and made the school district reverse themselveson this decision to not let this kid
named Jayden wear his Gaston flag backpackinto school. I definitely encourage you to

(12:58):
go dig around on x for alittle bit see if you can find the
video. If you haven't seen it, watch it, because his mom just
does a really good job of justrefuting the nonsense that's coming out of this
school district lady's mouth. And eventhough I do kind of consider it a
tragedy that this was we even gotto the point in this country where such
a big symbol of our history likethe Gadsden flag would be something that's considered

(13:20):
offensive in an American school. Thoughthat's sad, it is super positive this
story to see the fact that thiskid's mother and this kid, and then
the entire internet as a whole,we're able to band together and fight this
hard enough for this ridiculous choice bythe school district to be reversed. All
right, So I just kind ofwanted to talk about the big picture implications

(13:41):
of those two stories, Donald Trump'sapproval boost, and then of course this
Gadsdon flag thing. So with thatout of the way, let's go ahead
and jump from here right into stuffI saw online. All Right, I've
got to say, this is thecraziest thing I have seen him probably my
entire life. I have truly neverseen a new story quite like this.
So this is his gun fired atWhite Sox game was snuck in via a

(14:05):
woman's belly fat. An investigation intoa shooting Friday night in which two women
were struck by gunfire during the WhiteSox versus Athletics game at the Guaranteed Rate
Field in Chicago came to an almostunbelievable conclusion as to how the gun got
into the ballpark. According to areport by Chicago based ESPN one thousand two,
sources close to the investigation said thegun was brought into the stadium in

(14:28):
the rolls of a woman's belly fat. WHOA hold the phone in what this
is insane? This is crazy tome. ESPN reporter Peggy Kuzinski said one
of the women who was grazed bya bullet in the incident snuck the gun
in past metal detectors, hiding itin the folds of her belly fat,

(14:52):
the report said. Sources claimed thewoman who was one of the two women
wounded when the gun lighter went off, set off metal detectors three separate times,
three separate times. This woman goesthrough the metal detectors three separate times,
sets them off each time, andstill manages to get the gun past
security. I mean, you gottagive them props for creative thinking at least.

(15:16):
Shoot. I never seen nothing likethat in my entire life. If
you're someone that knows me, youknow that I do not subscribe to Darwinism.
But I do, however, subscribeto the concept of natural selection.
I am a firm believer in theidea that if you do something this ridiculously
stupid, like sneak a gun intoa baseball game in your belly fat.

(15:41):
Then whatever happens next if you endup getting grazed by a bullet when the
thing goes off because you tuck thatsucker up under your tummy, hey,
that's just what you had coming toyou. Unfortunately, of course, according
to the article, both women agesforty two and twenty six are expected to
recover from the shooting, which is, of course good. We're glad nobody
was killed or anything that would havebeen tragic. But because nobody was killed,

(16:03):
we can now just laugh at thisridiculous person who snuck a gun into
a baseball stadium in her belly fat. Anyway, let's get back to this
article here. Of course, thewoman who allegedly snuck the gun into the
stadium in her belly fat is denyingthat she snuck the gun into the stadium
in her belly fat, and that'llall play out in court. I don't
really care about all that. Ijust wanted to take a moment to share

(16:23):
with you guys this absolutely insane story. I can truly say, this has
got This has got to be afirst of its kind. If there is
if anyone can think of, atany point ever in human history, somebody
sneaking a gun into a ballpark intheir belly fat or any other area of

(16:45):
fat, please share that article withme, because I want to see it.
I want to see how truly crazythis world is. I saw this
and I had to just kind ofdouble over and just I had to sit
for like five minutes and just stareat this headline and wonder if I had
lost my mind or if what Iwas seeing was actually real. And it
is real. So just take thismoment to realize that our species really is

(17:10):
doom is This has got to bethe dumbest idea that I think a human
being has probably ever had. I'ma big proponent of the Second Amendment,
and I am an even bigger proponentof guns safety. And I Rule number
one of gun safety used to bealways treat the gun like it's loaded.
Right, whenever you're handling a firearm, you treat it like it's loaded.

(17:30):
That is now no longer rule numberone of gun safety. That has just
been dethroned. It is now rulenumber two of gun safety. Rule number
one of gun safety is officially fromthis moment forward by declaration of me for
the love of God and all thingsholy, do not tuck a handgun in
your belly fat. But of course, obviously thoughts and prayers for the people

(17:51):
affected. I do wish full andquick recovery to both of the women that
were injured in this. And Idon't know, I don't know what else
I could possibly say about this. This is this is just so baffling.
I am truly at a loss forwords, which does not happen very often
with me. But but this, this has done it all. Right,
now that we've gotten that out ofthe way, I want to go ahead

(18:11):
and now jump into random recommendations.Alright, one of my favorite things about
the kind of two thousand and tensera when I really grew up, that's
when I was a teenager and kindof you know, spend most of my
time learning what the internet was.But one of the greatest things about the
Internet in those days was the riseand fall of random humor. If you're

(18:32):
in my generation, that kind ofeighteen to thirty year old range, kind
of millennial and early I guess genz, then you will be familiar with
the concept of random humor. Thatwas just that was all the rage on
Internet in the early to mid twothousand and tens, and it was it
was great, but of course theU and of course the crowning moment for
random humor was of course Vine, the social media website that lives to this

(18:56):
day in infamy. If you're partof my generation, then is are you
grew up watching vines and loving vines? So today, on random recommendations,
I want to recommend to you thisInstagram page I found called Vine Review.
And of course they've got all theclassic vines that you know and love that
you see in the vine compilations onYouTube and whatnot, and of course they've
got they've got something that I've neverseen before, which is super fun.

(19:18):
It's always fun to see when you'relike watching a vine compilation and you see
a vine that you've never seen beforeand it kind of makes you think,
oh, maybe Vine's not dead afterall, and then you kind of snap
out of it and you wake upand you realize that it is and it's
never coming back and it's gone.So yeah, I just wanted to quickly
recommend this to you. If you'reone of my generation and you enjoy Vine,
you'll get a kick out of thispage. Really enjoy just scrolling through

(19:40):
this and reminiscing about the good olddays when we had new vines all the
time. But yeah, Vine reviewon Instagram, definitely recommend them. It's
a lot of fun to sit throughand watch this and of course if you're
not of that, if you're notfamiliar with Vine, this will be a
great way for you to kind offigure out what the Internet used to be
like back in the day when itwas actually fun. Already that is going

(20:02):
to do it. For today's episode, I want to once again thank you
all very much for listening and remindyou that you can now find this show

Spotify, and of course the iHeartRadioapp. As always, I want to
