(00:00):
Alrighty, we're gonna be taking alook at Joe Biden's image and why he's
falling in the polls. We've gotan article about why this woman thinks she
shouldn't have been dumped, and whatniche sci fi show that's better than Star
Trek should you be checking out.Let's jump right in. In a world
that's constantly buzzing with updates, it'seasy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume
(00:21):
of headlines and information. That's whyI'm here to help you navigate the endless
waves of day to day updates.I'm Ethan Buchanan and this his news wave.
Alrighty, so today for the news, I don't really want to talk
about any breaking news right now, because there really hasn't been much this week.
(00:43):
What I kind of want to lookat is against some big picture stuff.
That's kind of what we try todo the most of here is big
picture stuff, because there's really nota reason to get into the nitty gritty,
brand new breaking news every single daybecause it's just too much to keep
up with. It's too much foryou to keep up with, it's it's
too much for anybody to keep upwith. So what I want to try
(01:04):
to do is just look at thetrends and see where things going and talk
about big picture stuff. And whatI have today is Joe Biden. Surprise,
surprise. So the big picture stuffhere is well, really, to
break into this, I want togo back to twenty twenty ancient history and
(01:25):
what did Joe Biden pitch himself ashe was the nice guy? You know,
everything was crazy, COVID was killingeverybody, and Donald Trump was just
off his rocker. But praise God, here comes the nice old man.
And he's a family man. He'sa nice guy, he understands your problems
(01:47):
and all that good stuff. Andover the last couple of years, what
we have come to see is that'sjust really not the case. Joe Biden
has proven himself time and again toreally be just incredibly self centered, like
truly bafflingly self centered. He managesto make everything about him in a way
(02:09):
that I have and politicians are famouslynarcissistic. He is by far the most
narcissistic politician in recent history. Hisability to take other people's tragedies and misfortunes
and make them about himself is baffling, and not so much baffling in a
(02:34):
way that, oh my god,how did he manage to make this about
himself so successfully? It's baffling ina way that like, why would you
even try that? Why would youeven try that. The biggest one that's
been ranking making the rounds is hecame out in the middle of his big
speech in Maui after the wildfires, after shrugging everything off and saying no comment,
(03:00):
which is just a horrible, horribleidea to do. If you're the
president and a natural disaster happens inthe United States and the only response you
can give is no comment. Comeon, it's not that hard to have
a little que card in your pocketthat says I'm praying for the families of
this whoever was affected by this tragedy. You know, it's this is politician
(03:21):
one on one. It's not rocketscience. But yeah, that phenomenal blunder.
Aside, he does, eventually, after thirteen days, finally make it
down to Hawaii to give a speechto everybody down there, and you know,
do his politician run around the blocklook at me, I'm here visiting
the tragedy. It's all super cynical, but that's politics, and so here
(03:44):
we go from Fox News. Bidenuses minor fire at his house to claim
he knows what it's like to losea home. While visiting in Maui,
Biden says he almost lost his wife, sixty seven corvette, and cat in
the fire. So that would makeyou think, Okay, wow, his
house probably suffered some significant damage. You know, his wife was probably in
(04:04):
real danger. Right. No,that's not what happened at all. But
let's dig into the article. Whilevisiting the fire ravaged remains of Maui,
he said he knows what it's liketo lose a home, recalling that fifteen
years ago, lightning started a fireat his residence in Delaware. This sounds
super serious. Quote. I don'twant to compare difficulties, he says,
(04:26):
right before he compares the difficulties. If somebody ever says I don't want to
compare difficulties, brace yourself. They'reabout to compare difficulties with you, he
says. But we have a littlesense, Jill and I of what it's
like to lose a home. Yearsago, now, fifteen years I was
in Washington doing Meet the press, dot dot dot. Lightning struck at home
on a little lake outside the home, not a lake, a big pond.
(04:50):
It hit the wire and came upunderneath our home into air conditioning ducks.
To make a long story short,I almost lost my wife, my
sixty seven Corvette, and my cat. The President added. This is not
the first time Biden has recalled thestory. In November twenty twenty one,
he said his house burned down withhis wife Jill Biden inside, before trying
(05:11):
to correct himself. At that time, he was speaking with New Hampshire about
the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan when he said, without this bridge, as I said
earlier, it's a ten mile detourjust to get to the other side.
And I know, having had ahouse burned down with my wife in it,
she got out safely, God willingthat having a significant portion of it
burned, I can tell ten minutesmake a hell of a difference. He
(05:32):
also mentioned the story back in twentythirteen, claiming a fire destroyed a significant
portion of his New Hampshire home.A two thousand and four report from the
Associated Press, archived by Lexis Nexis, said lightning struck the Biden's home and
started a small fire that was containedto the kitchen. The report said firefighters
got the blaze under control in twentyminutes, and that they were able to
(05:54):
keep the flames from spreading beyond thekitchen. So, just in case you
missed it, this entire island burnsto the ground. And it's not a
smart literal term for the island isquote unquote the big Island. And this
entire island has been burned to theground. Thousands and thousands of people have
(06:14):
lost everything. Their entire homes havebeen destroyed, their families, their loved
ones are missing. There's still likea thousand people that are unaccounted for that
they haven't found, that are probablyunfortunately dead. And so these people look
to their president as a source ofcomfort to come and give a speech and
(06:36):
guide them forward. And he saysnot to compare difficulties. But I know
exactly how you feel, because thesame thing happened to me. I almost
lost my wife in my car andmy cat. Except he didn't lose his
house, he didn't almost lose hiswife, he didn't almost lose his car
(07:00):
because the fire never left the kitchen, let alone make it all the way
to the garage. This was likea twenty minute, little sparky house fire
that was put out almost immediately anddidn't spread anywhere. And this man has
the audacity to go to the peopleof Maui and say, yeah, I
know exactly how you feel, thesame thing happened to me. How out
(07:21):
of touch do you have to beto do that? Like, I don't
want to say what happened in hisbrain to make him think that was okay,
because we all know his brain's notworking. But come on, how
did whoever wrote that speech for himnot cut that out of the speech?
(07:42):
And the craziest part is this isnot the first time that he's done this.
This is not at all the firsttime he's done this. He's on
numerous occasions said to GoldStar families that, oh, yeah, I know exactly
how you feel, my son diedin Iraq, which was a lie,
did not die in Iraq. Buthe constantly goes and he tries to make
(08:05):
himself seem relatable by comparing his traumawith these people, and really what it
ends up being is just insulting. It just comes off as insulting, and
people are starting to recognize it.People are starting to see it. According
to Breitbart News, Hawaiian's greet JoeBiden's motorcade with middle fingers. People are
(08:28):
starting to wake up to this.People are starting to be really angry at
Joe Biden. Among all the thousandsof things you could be mad at him
for, they're getting mad at himbecause they're realizing that one of his biggest
pitches that he's a down to earthman of the people, was a lie.
(08:48):
And more and more people are startingto realize he's really just a self
centered, narcissistic old man. Now. Of course, this breakdown of his
image really started with the Afghanistan pullout, when he sacrificed like twenty years of
blood, sweat, and tears fromthe United States military just to be able
(09:09):
to say, look, I endedthe war in Afghanistan, which is a
lie that war was already over.We had troops on the ground there in
the same capacity that we have troopson the ground in Japan. We're not
gonna sit here and say we're stillin the middle of World War two because
we have troops on the ground inJapan. But ever since then, he
costs thirteen different service members their livesjust so that he could be able to
(09:31):
add this, I ended the IraqWar to his list of achievements or Afghanistan
War to his list of achievements, and ever since then, since he checked
his watch at the returning of thebody's ceremony, it's just been a pretty
rapid progression of him just making anexample of the fact that he really is
not the man of the people, the down to earth guy that he pitched
(09:54):
himself as. And I think we'rereally going to see that have some some
electoral effects here. There's it's nota coincidence that his poll numbers took a
massive hit right after that happened, right after the Afghanistan pullout happened. He
dropped significantly in the polls, andhe's never recovered from that. He still
hasn't. And every time he hasone of these little incidents this happens,
(10:16):
he takes a hit in the polls. And now we're seeing it get to
the point where Hawaii, which tomy knowledge is a Democrat state that I
believe he won, even the peoplein Hawaii are sitting there flipping off his
motorcade as he drives by. Sowe'll see how that shapes out for him
in terms of the twenty four election. We'll see if that actually has a
(10:37):
great effect on his electoral chances.I think it will, because again,
that was his big pitch in twentytwenty is I'm the kindly old man.
I understand your problems and I wantto be here with you to create a
solution, and realizing that that's justnot the case, all right, So
with that knocked out of the way, I want to get to something kind
(10:58):
of a little bit more are funand just that it's it's it's fun in
the way that it's just ridiculous andyou just have to look at it and
mock, but really it's sad forsociety as a whole. So, without
any further ado, let's go aheadand jump right into our next segment,
which is stuff I saw online alreadyand today on stuff that I saw online,
(11:20):
this is a pretty wild article thatI saw scrolling through Facebook. It's
from a publication that's just called Joe. I believe this is a British publication.
The website is Joe dot co dotuk. That's Joe, which I
want to say that means it's aBritish publication, but whatever. It's kind
of like a like an everything publication. It's similar to BuzzFeed. They've got
(11:43):
sports, politics, news, entertainment, everything. But this, this is
probably one of the most wild articlesI've read in a while. This is
titled woman reveals the cruel reason datedumped her after they had sex for the
first time. And now you readthat headline and you got to think,
this is gonna be something crazy. This is gonna be something super judgmental.
(12:05):
This is gonna be something super mean. This guy, it's going to be
super out of the box and unreasonablethat he dumped her over this. Well,
let's get into it and see ifthat's true. So the header is
your sexy and funny, but awoman has shared the dreadful reason a guy
gave her A guy gave her fornot wanting to see her anymore after they
(12:26):
slept together for the first time. The unnamed woman took to TikTok, which
is the font of all god awfulnonsense, to share how she was body
shamed by the guy she had beenseeing. So that makes you think,
oh, it's something ridiculous, likeshe has some cellulite or something and this
guy was just super judgmental and rude. So here we go. In a
series of texts, he told her, Hey, this isn't going to work.
(12:50):
He then explained that despite her beingquote sexy and funny, there was
one thing he just couldn't get past. Seeing your hairy armpits is a no
go and it's just my preference. He had or he said, full stop.
Hold on, we immediately have tohave to analyze this a little bit.
Just pull out there for the guys. Come on, we all feel
(13:13):
this way first of all. Butlet me let me just get into the
to the big elephant in the roomhere. Women, if you want to
avoid this problem, do not justhave casual hookup sex. First and foremost,
don't have casual hookup sex. It'snot a good idea, it never
works out, there are no benefitsto it. Just don't do it.
(13:35):
And you know what, No,I'm just gonna leave it at that.
Let's just don't have casual hookup sex, all right. That will immediately solve
this problem. It will never evenget to the point of us having to
read this article. But here weare, so we're gonna keep going,
all right. She responds with verysound logic quote unquote, So you having
(13:56):
armpits is fine, but not me, a woman who also grows hair there.
Yes, Because as much as peoplehate this there are societal beauty standards,
and they are different for men andwomen because men and women are different.
The things that are widely considered attractiveon men or just normal on men
(14:16):
and the things that are considered unattractiveor unnormal on women are different things,
and that's not a bad thing.Women. You can't just say I want
to completely do away with all beautystandards and then live that lifestyle and then
expect men to find you attractive. This whole article is sitting here making it
(14:37):
out like the crazy and unbelievable thinghere is that the guy is not attracted
to armpit hair. Which I don'tknow if any of you out there have
ever met a guy, but thisis completely normal. Every guy out there
feels this way, or let menot say every guy, but most men
(14:58):
out there this way. Most guysout there are not into harry women.
Now, there are exceptions to therule, obviously, and we're not going
to get into the nitty gritty detailsof well I look this because that's gross
and weird, and you people aregross and weird. But the general,
longstanding rule in human society that menare not attracted to harry women is not
(15:22):
a new thing. And it's notan abnormal thing. And the fact that
we're now pretending it is abnormal forwomen who want to be found attractive but
also don't want to go through theminimal effort of actually trying to make themselves
attractive. Like the amount of thisreally is an issue of people being self
centered. This is just people whothink that despite that they're not going to
(15:46):
try, they're not going to putin an effort. They're going to do
away with all of the standards ofbeauty. But you're not allowed to have
preferences. They're allowed to have preferenceswith what they look like and where they
grow their hair, which of courseyou are. But at the same time,
the men are not allowed to havepreferences as to what they find attractive.
(16:10):
That is truly incredibly self centered andit's incredibly narcissistic. And the fact
that we as a society are supposedto just say, oh, yes,
the woman is right here. Menshould not have standards or opinions on what
they find attractive is unreasonable. Butback into the article, he replies to
(16:33):
her saying, so you having armpitsis fine, but not me a woman
who also grows hair. There theguy replies, it's just my preference.
And her response, but you havea penis shaped like a croissant. Isn't
my preference? But I understand thatthat's not something you can help. So
here we are, and we arenow once again right here in full force,
(16:56):
seeing the problems with the hookup cold. They are numerous, and we
don't have enough time in the dayand I don't have enough storage in my
hard drive to talk about how manyissues there are with hookup culture. But
this right here is the biggest issuehere. See, what we end up
(17:18):
having is instead of people growing togetherand maturing together and becoming attracted to each
other's personalities and you know, thingsgoing below surface, hookup culture creates the
necessity of beauty standards. That wasnot really a thing before hookup culture came
about. It used to be whenyou were looking for somebody to make a
(17:41):
family with, you looked at theutility. You looked at can I provide
for this person? Can this personprovide for me? Will we be mutually
beneficial together? And if that wasthe case, then and only then would
you kind of commit to each otherand then you would have sex. But
hookup culture has created the necessity ofjust you don't have what I'm into and
(18:07):
I don't have what you're into,so we're going to hook up and then
we're gonna get mad at each otherfor it. But that's what happens when
you let hookup culture rule. Youdon't worry about actual things that matter.
You just worry about the surface levelstuff. And by this point you've already
gone too far. You've already hadsex with someone, You've already created this
(18:32):
scenario in which you're forced to dealwith the consequences of your poor choices.
Just first of all, beauty standardsare real, they exist, and people
are attracted to what they're attracted for, and you can't foote people for that.
And second of all, don't haverandom sex, because then you're gonna
end up in this ridiculous article fromJoe dot Coo dot UK. So yeah,
(18:56):
that's all we've got for stuff Isaw on the internet, once again
proving to you that you really don'tneed to be on the internet. Just
just let me do it for you. Let me be on the internet for
you, and then I will cometo you and bring you the interesting stuff.
Now, why is this interesting Becauseit points towards where we're going as
a society. Just like everything Itry to do on this podcast, it's
(19:19):
it's big picture stuff, you know, all this stuff it seems like,
oh my god, this is ridiculous, this is stupid. Why are we
even looking at this? But allof this stuff is kind of showing us
where our society is headed. TheInternet is a really great way if you
know how to use it to almostpredict the directions that society is going to
(19:40):
be going. It's really easy tolook at trends of what's going on on
the internet, what we're seeing online, and kind of extrapolate from that where
our society is headed. Where Westernsociety is going, And according to this
article from Joe, it's it's notgoing in a positive direction. It's really
not. So let this be alesson to you guys. Just first of
(20:04):
all, have discussions with people beforeyou end up doing something drastic like sleeping
together and get married, before youdo something drastic like sleeping with each other.
Because if you make it to thewedding without somehow finding out that the
person you're about to get married tohas arn't pit hair that you're not into,
then at that point whatever comes nextis on your head. But that's
(20:27):
enough of that nonsense right now.I want to go ahead and head into
our next segment, Random recommendations already, and now it's time for random recommendations
now. I do want to givea quick disclaimer here. None of this
stuff is sponsored. This isn't anythingthat I'm being paid to promote or anything
like that. This is just it'sanything from products or TV shows to social
(20:52):
media accounts and memes that I've foundthat I enjoy that I want to share
with you guys, just because Ilike it and think maybe you will too.
To start things off, I wantedto recommend to everybody the Stargate franchise,
just the whole darn thing. Someof you may or may not be
familiar with it. It's kind ofan older, kind of a more niche
franchise. We're talking late nineties, early two thousands is really when it was
(21:18):
in its heyday, and then itjust kind of petered out. But honestly,
it's really good. It's it's oneof the more original, kind of
unique sci fi franchises. You know, it's not far out in the future
and it's not in some far awaygalaxy, although it does there's is kind
of aspects of that, but it'svery much based around Earth in the present
day. Just to give you thebrief overview, you know, it's it's
(21:41):
the people of Earth have found theStargate, which turns out there's a bunch
of them on planets all around thegalaxy and all over the universe really,
and that allows them to go todifferent planets throughout the galaxy and just encounter
all sorts of cool aliens and adventuresand whatnot. So it has all of
(22:02):
that fun technology and kind of semifuturisticness of of sci fi, but also
it's it's definitely more grounded, it'smore real, which is something I really
like about it, and it's it'sgot a couple of different like spinoffs and
whatnot. So there's the original movieand that led to the to the spinoff
show SG one, and then thatled to the spinoff show Stargate Atlantis,
(22:23):
which is my favorite iteration of thefranchise. It is kind of one of
those things that you want to atleast watch a little bit of everything in
order to have a good understanding ofit. Like, for example, you
wouldn't be able to just jump rightinto the Stargate Atlantis series and really understand
what's going on, and would kindof throw you for a loop because you
know, there's characters and people mentionedthat you have to watch at least a
(22:45):
little bit of Stargate SG one tocomprehend. So yeah, I would say
go check out the original movie. It came out in nineteen ninety four.
It's really good. It's got KurtRussell in it, James Spader. It's
a really really good movie. Uh, it's it's unique and it's original.
It's kind of kind of jankie. The whole series, the whole franchise really
(23:07):
holds up well over time. Youknow, you you watch it and it
it's it is a little bit dated, just the special effects and whatnot,
but all in all, it holdsup pretty well. But yeah, I
would I would highly recommend that toyou check out that show, Uh,
watch the movie, then watch SGone and I don't know, maybe you
could probably be just watched the firstseason of Stargate SG one and that would
(23:33):
if you want to then jump aheadinto Stargate Atlantis, which I think is
is the better show you'll be You'llbe pretty good to go once you get
once you get to that point, you'll have a good understanding of what's going
on in order to really fully enjoyStargate Atlantis. But yeah, I just
wanted to quickly give a shout outto that show and just recommend it to
you. If you haven't seen it, check it out. I really do
(23:53):
feel like that's the the third andthe holy Trinity of of sci fi,
you know, Star Trek, StarEight, and Star Wars in no particular
order, though for me, uh, Star Trek would probably have to be
at the bottom of those three, which I know is a super controversial take
because you know, there's there's thewhole battle between Star Trek and Star Wars
(24:14):
inside of the Nerd universe, andthen here's here's this kind of unsung underdog
third option that I think really trump'sStar Trek, and that's really based on
nothing other than I just don't likeStar Trek that much. But yeah,
definitely go check that show out.I really think you'll enjoy it. Alrighty,
And that's gonna do it for thisepisode of news Wave. I want
(24:37):
to thank you all very much forlistening. If you made it this far,
if you like what you hear,go ahead and share this podcast with
your friends. You don't recommend it. This is a brand new thing,
so we're definitely trying to grow here, and of course, if you have
any feedback, I would love tohear it. Feel free to reach out
to me on any of my socials. I'm always active on there and they
will be linked below in the descriptionof today's episode. Once again, thank
(25:00):
you all very much for listening, and we will see you all next time.
Once again, I am Ethan Buchananand this is Newswave
