(00:00):
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is acquittedon all sixteen of his impeachment charges.
Meanwhile, in the Federal Congress, the budget battle is starting to heat up,
and we'll examine what that means foryou in your day to day life.
Plus we'll take a look at avideo that perfectly demonstrates how the left
is completely abandoning logic. Let's jumpright in. In a world that's constantly
(00:22):
buzzing with updates, it's easy tofeel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of headlines
and information. That's why I'm hereto help you navigate the endless waves of
day to day updates. I'm EthanBuchanan and this his news wave. Alrighty,
So to start things off, thebig news here in my home state
of Texas is Ken Paxton has beenacquitted on his impeachment charges. He has
(00:46):
been acquitted of all charges. Sothey charged him with I want to say,
it was like sixteen different or itwas twenty different articles of impeachment,
but like four of them got thrownout, so I came down to sixteen,
and they charged him with all sixteen. They only had to convict him
on one of them to get himthrown out of office, and he got
off on all the charges, whichis great news. So real quick,
(01:08):
before we get into it, hereis Ken Paxson finally being acquitted after three
months of being thrown out of officeand all this bullcrap. Now, from
the very start of this, ifyou were an objective observer, this didn't
sit right with you because normally, let's point back to the Trump impeachments.
That's that's a good precedent, that'sa good example. Not that I think
(01:30):
those were good impeachments, because Ithink both of those were pretty baseless.
But what you can say for thoseis, the entire time we had the
evidence, we knew exactly what theywere impeaching him for. They're like,
here, he is doing this, this, this, and this, and
we think that's wrong. And nowyou can agree with that or you can
disagree with that, and as itturns out, most of the people in
(01:52):
the Senate at the time disagreed withthat. And Trumpe was acquitted both times
he was impeached, But the entiretime we knew exactly why he was being
We knew exactly what he had done, and they were alleging that that was
a crime. They weren't hiding theevidence from us. They're like, here's
the evidence. We think this isbad and we're impeaching in because of it,
and you can agree with that,or you can disagree with that,
(02:13):
and we'll let the Senate settle it. We'll let the lawyers handle it in
the Senate. That's how it's supposedto work. That is what impeachment is
supposed to look like. That's notwhat's been happening in Texas over the last
couple of months. We were constantly, we constantly had the wool pulled over
our eyes. Even the representatives inthe House are now claiming they had the
(02:34):
wool pulled over their eyes during thisentire process. And the line was from
those that were pushing for the impeachmentof Ken Paxton. Just wait, we
have the evidence. You don't needto see it. This isn't the trial
right here. Just let's move forwardin the process and we can put the
evidence out and then we'll let thatbe that. That's not how this is
(02:57):
supposed to work. You don't takea grand jury, set them down and
say listen, I have evidence, trust me, bro, trust me.
You don't need to see it,though, Just indict this person and then
you'll see the evidence in trial. That's essentially what was happening here. There
was from the get go an assumptionof guilt on the part of Ken Paxton
(03:19):
during this impeachment trial. And that'swhat I think is really ticking everyone off,
because everybody knows that that's not howthis is supposed to work. You're
supposed to have in the United States, a presumption of innocence. But because
we all just decided that that's nothow this was going to work, we
don't need the presumption of innocence. We will assume that he's guilty, and
(03:40):
then he can prove himself innocent inthe trial. And I think what's really
irking the voters, the people inTexas. At no point in this process
did they give us anything new.Everything that they alleged, everything this trial
was about, we had already knownwhen we voted for Ken Paxson back in
(04:01):
November of last year, and thepeople of Texas voted for him anyway,
and then the House impeached him onthe basis of nothing. They had nothing
the entire time, but regardless oftheir complete lack of evidence, we all
got stuck with having essentially no attorneygeneral for the last three months because of
(04:23):
political nonsense. And don't take myword for that. That's not just me
saying it. Here is Lieutenant GovernorDan Patrick saying essentially the same thing.
Now, if you're not familiar withhow things work here in Texas, dan
Patrick was essentially the judge in thistrial for the entire process. So if
anyone would know, it's him.So here's Dan Patrick giving his remarks.
(04:44):
This is right after the vote toacquittal happened. He ages basically lays into
everybody involved in this and calls itout as the bullcrap that it was.
We didn't need to be told inthe final arguments how and this vote was
I believe the quote was, thiswill, if you're like me, be
(05:05):
the hardest and most difficult and theheaviest vote that you will ever cast in
your time in the legislature. Thisvote will be the vote you're remembered for.
Our members already knew that and haveknown that for the last three months.
If only the House members who votedfor impeachment would have followed that instruction
in the House, we may nothave been here in the House. The
(05:28):
vote to send the articles of impeachmentagainst the Attorney General to the Senate.
Happened in only a few days, with virtually no time for one hundred and
fifty members to even study the articles. The Speaker and his team ran through
the first impeachment of the statewide officialin Texas in over one hundred years,
while paying no attention to the presidentthat the House set in every other impeachment
before. In the past, theHouse had transparent and open investigations for all
(05:55):
to see, including other House members. The target of the investigation was notified
and invited to attend with counsel andgiven an opportunity to cross examine witnesses that
were placed under oath before testimony wastaken. I think conclusion of past House
investigations, the evidence was laid outfor weeks for House members to evaluate not
(06:15):
ours before they took their vote onarticles of impeachment. Representative Smithy said the
House could not legitimately impeach General Paxtonon the record because there was no record
to send to the Senate. Hesaid the House was not following the rule
of law. He said, theHouse approach and I quote Representative Smithy,
hang them now and judge them later. He then later in the speech,
(06:38):
he went on and he continued talkingabout how there was an attitude in the
House that it's not our job toactually do fact finding, it's our job
to impeach ken Paxton and then letthe fact finding happen. And he said,
that's not how it works, that'snot how it's supposed to work.
And you can tell just from thisclip, Dan Patrick is just as mad
as the rest of us about allthis. This. This should not have
(07:00):
happened, or at least not likethis. If you want stuff like this
to look legitimate, you have todo it properly. From the very beginning,
there was a feeling that this wasjust political, and that's because there
was no honesty in this process whatsoever. There was a very reasonable, justified
feeling that this is just political, because that's all we could see. All
(07:23):
we could see was the politics. They hid the facts from us, because,
as it turns out, there wereno facts there the entire time.
And that's what everybody in Texas isso all fired mad about right now.
That's what Dan Patrick was mad aboutin that clip. And you can't really
hear it in his voice, butyou can see it in his face.
If you watch the video, heis not happy. He is not in
(07:44):
a good mood. And if yousat and actually watched the trial, you
could see there was not a senatorin there that was happy to be there,
except the Democrats. But the cameracould pan to any given Republicans sitting
in the Senate chamber, and theywere all at best sick of this process
and didn't want to be there, and at worst they were mad about it.
And they had every right to bebecause they got dragged up there to
(08:05):
Austin for no good reason. Butthere's got to be a benefit to this,
right, There's got to be anupside, and I'm here to tell
you there is, fear not there'ssome good news that came out of this.
So what was what was the advantage? What do we gain from this
ridiculous three month process and not havingan attorney general? Well, what we
gained was a comprehensive list for Republicansto vote. People at a office.
(08:28):
If you're in a district and you'rerepresentative, voted for this primary them primary
them. There is no excuse. They're gonna get there, get there in
their town halls and their press conferences, and they're gonna say. If they're
smart, they're gonna say, well, I got duped. They talked me
into it. I thought they hadevidence and I wanted to put it before
(08:50):
the people. No, you didn't. You didn't think there was evidence,
and if you did, you're dumb. I'm sorry to say it. If
you actually believe that there was anythinglegiti him into this and they were just
hiding it from you, then you'retoo stupid to be in office. Which
I know that's a high bar toclear, because if you know anything about
politics, you know most of thepeople involved in politics are idiots. But
(09:13):
there's the bar. We found it, and there is a good number of
people in the Texas House, andthere are two Republicans in the Texas Senate
that do not clear the bar. They are too dumb to be your representatives
in the House and Senate. Soif you're living in one of these districts,
go find the list they're out thereand primary them. Primary these people,
(09:33):
because if you're a Republican, there'sa good chance that you voted for
Ken Paxson to represent you in thecourts across this country while he's bringing suits
against the federal government for all thenonsense that Joe Biden is doing, and
your representative did not care that that'swho you wanted, and they impeached him
on the basis of nothing. Sodon't believe the lies that they're going to
(09:54):
give you about how they just wantedto put it out there for the Senate
to juda. That's not how thisprocess should work, and the Senate should
not have had to adjudicate that nonsense. At the very best, the representatives
who voted for this are gullible, and they're too gullible to represent you,
because if if this nonsense is whatgets them and convinces them, then God
(10:20):
only knows how else the wolf canbe pulled over their eyes, and you
should not have that person casting voteson your behalf in the House of Representatives.
And at the worst, that wasthe best case scenario. The worst
case scenario, which I believe isthe case for most of these people who
voted for this impeachment, the worstcase scenario is they were willing to sacrifice
(10:43):
your desires and your will as avoter, and they put the well being
and best interests of the state ofTexas aside, and they voted on this
nonsense and voted to impeach the Attorneygeneral for political reasons. This entire thing
was a sham, and it waspolitical, and anyone that tells you differently
is either lying to you or they'rejust an idiot. So remember this come
(11:05):
next election cycle. Remember who votedfor this. Remember what your representative was
saying and doing while all this washappening. Remember who fought against this and
who supported it, and vote withthat, because the only way we're going
to stop this from happening again isif we make it clear. Listen,
we're not going to tolerate this. And not only are we not going to
(11:28):
tolerate it, there's going to bebacklash. We're not just going to stop
it, we're gonna make you payfor it. So to those of you
who voted for this, be onalert, and to the voters out there,
we've got elections in our House ofRepresentative coming up next year in twenty
twenty four. And if we learnour lesson from this, then come the
(11:48):
end of November next year, theTexas House of Representatives should look a whole
lot different. And I truly hopeit does, because the people of Texas
deserve better than this. The stateof Texas deserves better than this. All
right, real quick, before wemove on from the news, I want
to give you a quick kind ofa little lowdown on what's going on federally
right now. We've got a lotof headlines running around about the budget battle
(12:11):
happening in the House of Representatives rightnow. Every six months to a year,
the House of Representatives will have abig budget battle and the Democrats and
the Republicans will fight over what theywant in the budget. So here's basically
how that works. The of course, constitutionally, the Congress has the power
of the Purse, which means everydime the federal government spends has to be
(12:33):
agreed upon by the Congress. Thatthe Congress has to say we're going to
spend this much on these things atthis time. And the three parties that
have to agree on that is theCongressional Republicans, the Congressional Democrats, and
whoever is in the White House. All three of them have to reach in
agreement that everybody agrees on, andthen the Democrats pass it, and then
(12:54):
the Republicans pass it, and thenthe President will sign it. Right now,
where we've got going on is there'sbasically a split in the Republican Party
on how much and what and allthat good stuff. The more conservative members
of the Republican Caucus are wanting tomake bigger cuts, and by bigger cuts,
(13:15):
I mean they want to back thingsdown to the twenty twenty two level,
which last time I checked was onepoint four trillion dollars. That's where
their line is, which is beyondreasonable. That is beyond reasonable. They're
saying we should not be spending anymore than this one point four trillion dollars,
which when you remember the fact thatwe are, as of right now,
(13:37):
like thirty two, coming up onthirty three trillion dollars in debt.
Yeah, that makes a lot ofsense. We probably shouldn't spend a whole
lot more than one trillion dollars sincewe're already thirty two trillion dollars in debt.
Apparently that's super controversial. And theissue now is that's going to put
us in danger of a government shutdown. And everybody's freaking out over that the
(13:58):
government gonna shut down. It's gonnabe a disaster. No, it's not,
it's not. This is not thefirst time this has happened. This
will not be the last time ithas happened. I promise you the world
will keep on spinning. So whenyou hear the media tell you we have
to come to an agreement right now. The Republicans are terrible for causing the
government shutdown. It will affect nothings. You might get your mail a
(14:22):
little bit late. Maybe it's notgoing to be that big of a deal.
And they're gonna try and tug onyour heartstrings and say what about all
the government workers who are going toget paid, They are going to get
to They're gonna be put on vacationbasically until this all get sorted out.
And then eventually it'll be storted outand they'll all get their back pay and
(14:43):
it'll be fine. This is notan unnew thing. If you pay attention
to the news and you have beenfor a while, you know that this
has happened like two or three timesover the last couple of years. And
yet, well we're still here, and it'll happen again, and we will
still be here. And to behonest, at this point, I'm kind
(15:05):
of rooting for it. And here'swhy. And the Freedom Caucus who's holding
everything up right now, that's theRepublicans. They've made this point as well.
The government is not doing their job, specifically in the area of the
border. The federal government is notsecuring the border, which is their job,
and the Freedom Caucus is saying, well, okay, if you're not
going to do their job, whyshould you even be here. If the
government isn't going to do what thegovernment was put in place to do,
(15:26):
which is protect the people and securethe border, then why even have the
government? Will just shut it downbecause it's not doing anything productive, So
why should we just fund it tokeep racking up dead which is a very
good point. That is a verygood point. If the government is not
going to do anything productive, thenthe government shouldn't exist. I agree,
(15:48):
shut it down. I have noproblems with that whatsoever, and you shouldn't
either, because here's the beauty ofit all. Everything that affects your daily
life, anything that would possibly bean inconvenience to you, is handled by
local and state governments, which arefunded completely independently and will get by just
fine without the federal government. Sodon't lose your mind over this government shutdown.
(16:11):
It's to be quite honest with you, it's really not news. It
just isn't because this will all sortitself out just over the course of time,
and you won't even notice because when'sthe last time you thought about the
last government shutdown? Exactly you haven'tbecause it didn't affect you at all,
and this one won't either. Sodon't even worry about it. When they
try to get you riled up aboutit, just don't even bother. It's
(16:33):
not worth your time. It's justnot all right. That's gonna do it
for the news today. Now let'sgo ahead and jump into stuff that I
saw online. All right, I'msorry to do this to you, but
for stuff I saw online today,I'm gonna have to take away a little
bit of your hope in humanity.I was scrolling through Instagram reels, which
is usually right about where hope inhumanity goes to die, and I came
(16:57):
across this videos come in in thestreet style video, he's just going off
to random people and then asking themsome questions, and he asked some good
questions. He asked some good questions. I'm gonna ahead and play the video
for you, or play the audioof the video for you, and then
we'll go ahead and talk about it. So here we go. Do you
think a twelve year old should beable to get a tattoo. And no,
no, it's a pretty permanent decision. They can't make the decision for
(17:19):
themselves. You have something permanent ontheir body. Do you think a twelve
year old should be able to consentto puberty blockers? Yes? Yes,
And I understand how that sounds reallyhypocritical. Yes, the permanent changed on
their body. But I think thatat that point in their life they probably
know who they are, who theywant to be. And you think so
at twelve years old? Yes?All right, so real quick. The
credits that video was done by MalikSnaps and man Vy Street on Instagram.
(17:41):
And what I really want to pointto is just completely ignore the politics,
all right, Ignore the how doyou feel about transgenders? Ignore all of
that, don't even think about it. Listen to that and ask yourself this
question. Does what they're saying makegood logical sense? And the pretty clear
answer is no. And you seeeven the first chick she's like, listen,
(18:03):
I understand that that's kind of hypocritical. Well, yeah, yeah it
is. How can you hold thebelief that it is not okay for a
child to get a tattoo because theydon't know what they're doing to their body.
But yet at the same time,it's perfectly okay for a child to
get puberty blockers, which is infact, a permanent mutilization of the human
(18:23):
body. That's an objective fact. These puberty blockers that they're using are not
reversible. They're not This is permanentchemical castration that's being done. And I
would bet you good money that anysingle person in that video that said yes,
the child can totally consent to pubertyblockers will also go and say the
(18:44):
parents should not be consulted, orif the parents disagree, they should not
have a say. But at thesame time, these children are they can't
be trusted to make the choice abouta tattoo, which completely is reversible.
You can go get tattoos removed, there are procedures, there's lasers, tattoo
removal. A tattoo definitely used tobe permanent, it's not anymore, but
(19:07):
a gender transition is. And itblows my mind that people on the left
are so willing to remove themselves frombasic logic for the sake of their ideology.
I don't understand. And it's willfultoo, like they know you see
the first lay say, I knowthis doesn't make sense. I'm aware,
(19:30):
but I'm actively choosing to cover myeyes ignore the fact that what I'm saying
is nonsense, and I'm going tofight and die for this ridiculous belief that
cannot This bucket does not hold water, This does not meet even the most
basic levels of scrutiny. But thisis the beliefs that they hold to.
(19:51):
And you see this upfront and obviouswith the whole issue of transgenderism, just
because you just look at it andit doesn't make sense biologically it does that
makes sense. None of this makessense, and it's big, and it's
obvious and it's clear, and soyou see them like willfully blinding themselves of
logic. But that mentality that theyhave carries on. It doesn't stop at
(20:15):
transgenderism. That's the mindset that theyhave with every single one of the big
liberal agenda points, like even socialismcan. This applies not exactly to the
same level, because it's it's alot easier to genuinely think that maybe socialism
will work than it is to genuinelythink that a man can be a woman.
(20:37):
But at the same time, thereare people that are pushing socialism that
are smart enough to know this doesn'tmake any sense and this can't possibly work.
There are people out there that arewell aware that these leftist ideals that
they're trying to push have failed everysingle time. It's the same with gun
control. Every single time that peoplehave been disarmed, it has gone poorly.
(21:02):
Name a time in world history wherethe people were disarmed by their government
and it worked out. But nevertheless, they convinced themselves to ignore the evidence
of their eyes and believe beyond ashadow of a doubt, even though they
know deep in their heart that it'snonsense that this stuff will work. It
really is sad to see It issad to see these people being so willfully.
(21:26):
They're choosing ignorance, they're choosing nonsense, and it's, like I said,
it really makes me lose my hopein humanity because these are where the
young, this is where our cultureis headed, which is why we really
need to kind of take up themantle of the counterculture and we need to
own that. We need to belike, no, we're the people that's
going to use our brains. We'rethe generation us younger folks that are gonna
(21:49):
you know, look critically as stuff, and if something doesn't make sense,
we're gonna call it. So,all my fellow younger people out there,
I just want to tell you,be better than this rise of this low
bar. Be critical thinkers, Bepeople that apply things like facts and logic
to your daily life. And whenyou get shamed for that by other younger
people, when you get shamed fornot being a liberal because you're too smart
(22:14):
to be, own it, ownthe fact that you are the counterculture now.
We the conservative kind of youth. We are the counterculture now in a
way that we weren't before. Itused to be back in the seventies,
eighties, nineties, even as backas far back as the sixties, the
counterculture was the left, and we'veseen how that turned out. We've seen
(22:37):
the counterculture become the culture in Americaand we've seen it crash and burn.
So be the person that's willing tosit with your group of friends and say,
listen, we've tried it this way. It doesn't work. So now
I'm putting my support behind this. Why because this makes sense. You can
connect these dots easily without having tojump through hoops. It's easy to say
(23:00):
that a child should neither get atattoo nor get puberty blockers. It's easy
for me to say that. It'seasy for me to hold that belief,
and I want you to explain tome why it's logical for you to hold
the opposite belief. The counterculture hasbecome being the type of person that's willing
to stand up and say, thisis what makes sense. I am too
smart to pretend I'm dumb enough tobelieve the opposite. I'm not gonna be
(23:22):
ashamed of that. I'm going toown that. That's really what counterculture is
these days, and that's what it'sgoing to take to kind of fix this
country. For us to put societyback on track, it's going to require
us to just kind of be thatcounterculture, embrace it, and be proud
of the fact that we're the outsidersin modern society. Alrighty folks, that
is going to do it. Fortoday's episode of news Wave, I want
