People Start Panicking About Their Phone's Charge When It's at 38%
New research has revealed that the "panic percentage" for phone battery life is 38%. That’s the point when most people start worrying their phone might die. About 34% hold off until it drops below 20%, and a chill 13% wait until it’s under 10% before stressing. On the flip side, 24% of Americans say they start panicking before their battery even hits 50%. Unsurprisingly, younger adults are way more likely to freak out early compared to older folks. So... are you a 38%-er or part of the “10% and still thriving” crew?

A Guy Got a Fungal Infection in His Lungs from Sniffing His Own Dirty Socks
This one’s straight out of a “don’t try this at home” PSA. A man in China ended up in the hospital with a persistent cough and bloodshot eyes. Turns out, he had a fungal infection in his lungs—and doctors traced it back to a bizarre habit: sniffing his own dirty socks after work. Yes, seriously. The same fungus found in his lungs was also found on the socks. It wasn’t athlete’s foot exactly, but a similar type of fungus. Fortunately, he responded well to anti-fungal meds, but let this be your sign: maybe skip the post-work sock sniff.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It is time for Nina's what's trending?

Speaker 2 (00:01):
What's your panic percentage? What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (00:03):
You know the percentage that your phone gets at when
you start to panic because you need to charge it.

Speaker 4 (00:07):
Oh, I like you who are saying in general panic,
like I can go to one hundred ninety eight.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
What panic percentage is a trending word and also a
very relatable situation.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Yeah, I don't say I think I like that with
my phone battery my phone is dead so much?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Do you charge your phone at night?

Speaker 5 (00:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Sometimes sometimes I don't.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
So you come in here sometimes and you're like, oh,
my phone's dead, and I'm like, helm mee, you just
got here.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
It depends if I've moved my charger to a different room,
because once I lay down, I don't want to get
back up.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
So I'm like, wow, whatever, Oh my.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Gosh, side a panic. If my phone is not charged overnight,
I'm like, oh no.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
But but the average panic percentage for people is at
about thirty eight percent, bud, So when your phone gets
to that level, you start to really freak out.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Some people really get unphased. Oh when it's under fifty percent.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
But the people that I don't understand are the thirteen
percent that claim they're unhased until it's under ten percent.
Because I have this theory that you're the same type
of people that will drive your car on empty.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
But that's true.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
You know, drive when your little meat gas light turns
on and it still drive on empty and you get
knock on the side of the road and you get
stuck without a phone when you need somebody to pick
you up, or you need a newber because your car
just died because you didn't have any caps.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Now you're double screwed.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
You're correct on that. It's happened to me.

Speaker 6 (01:25):
My car does this thing where it says how long
you haven'tntil you run out of gas until it gets
to thirty miles, and at thirty miles it just goes
to dashes. It no longer tells you the exact mileage.
Now it's just dashes.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Fun.

Speaker 7 (01:37):
You should fill up. Yeah, I do play that game.

Speaker 6 (01:40):
When I see dashes, I do a little calculation on
how many miles are on the car, and I go
I could probably make it.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yeah, it's fun to play. It's a fun game.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
It's also the little I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
There's a little thing at the bottom because like when
there are dashes and you can see like, oh I
still got some blue in the tank, that there's some
there's still some of that line that showing there's gas.

Speaker 7 (01:56):
In there your old ass car. The ain't no way
that's accurate. There is no blue, And I'm like.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
I'm still dry, you guys, craps.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
That's very well in my bad. This is confusing. Victoria
will start panicking if her phone is like sixty percent.
But if your calls on empty dose.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I have music because my phone's charred.

Speaker 7 (02:24):
You can just make a phone call if you need
to get that roadside assistance.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I just feel like that's so negligent on both on
both sides.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
As soon as I wake up, my phone goes on
the battery power saving mode, like the other day it
wasn't on battery power saving mode and I saw a
green battery.

Speaker 7 (02:42):
Was like, what does it mean?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
What does it mean?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
And I was like, oh, oh, oh, you haven't been
trained that green is good.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
No matter what no I was. It's not yellow, and
it's supposed to be yellow. Regardless how full.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
It is yellow, it is moderate, not awesome. Green is
always a good.

Speaker 7 (02:59):
Not in this world.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
The low battery mode on an iPhone.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Conversation.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Why can't they make low power mode the normal power batteries?

Speaker 6 (03:09):
Just last night, I don't know what I'm missing because
I live in low power Monde and you get and
your phone works the same, not fully the same. No,
I don't notice any differences because sometimes my phone will
turn it off.

Speaker 7 (03:18):
It's like you, we turned off low power mode because
your full.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, throw my phone out the window and it does it.
Don't tell me how to live, not do that.

Speaker 7 (03:26):
That's why your phone doesn't hold.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, my panic presented just went listening to all of
you talk about how you operate. I will leave you
with this because it is a p s A and
it's for all of you other people. Man, I'm being
really judging on this trending, but it's okay. You'll understand
why there are people that like to smell their dirty

(03:48):
clothes after they take it off and before they put
it into the laundry, Like that is a habit. I've
seen it on TikTok and I've heard peop they talk
about they just like to smell their dirty clothes before
they throw it them away or not them away, but
before they put him in the laundry. Okay, So I
just want to warn you the next time you smell
your dirty clothes, because there is a man who ended
up in the hospital for smelling his dirty socks on

(04:11):
his socks some kind of fungus that he ended up
inhaling into his lungs.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
He didn't know what was wrong with him.

Speaker 7 (04:20):
Listen, I don't know who's smelling socks underwear, those just
go straight in.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
But I will smell every shirt and every pair of
pants because I knew somebody, because I'm conscious of the environment.
And yeah, yeah, I only wash it every three wears
and so unless it's unless it's okay.

Speaker 7 (04:38):
But like what pants and shirts or everything underwear is
one wear? Like that's it. That's what I'm saying. Like
you wouldn't care sniffing socks.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Bro that he had gott into the habit of doing
it after work. He would take off his socks, smell them,
and they'd go.

Speaker 7 (04:58):
Fungus.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
They had to put it, like, figure out, sure, put
fungus on his lungs.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
I'm just like, I have no idea. I don't know
where I got the points from.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
People.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
There are so many things you do and you're like
he admitted.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
True.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I probably would admit it.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
In the park, just sitting on a little bench, but
you smell yourself.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
That's true, and admitted it to people. Good point.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Shouldn't have shame about that. If you like sniffing your
socks to it, should
