Dire Wolves Are Howling Again—For Real This Time
Nope, this isn’t a fan-fiction plot twist. Colossal Biosciences, a genetic engineering company known as “The De-Extinction Company,” has just announced the successful de-extinction of the dire wolf, the massive canine made famous by Game of Thrones.
Using DNA pulled from two fossil samples and combining it with 20 precise gene edits to a gray wolf (the dire wolf’s closest living cousin), researchers have created a living, breathing version of the prehistoric predator.
While not a perfect clone, it’s the closest science has ever come to reviving an extinct species—and it's officially the first de-extinct animal to walk the Earth again. And yes, it howls.

Dire Wolves have now just become the first de extinct
animal in the entire world.

Dire Wolves, dire they actually extinct.

That Yes, they have been extinct for nearly ten thousand years.

WHOA how did that happen?

I don't know, but if you remember watching, I will
tell you what they did. But Game of Thrones, if
you remember watching that, dire wolves were a big part
of it, been a huge part of the House of Stark.
So I'm not sure if they were really inspired by
the show or if they had already been in the
process of bringing dire wolves back, but this is what
they did. So there's a genetic engineering company called Colossal Biosciences,

so they took they took the DNA extracted from two fossils,
as well as twenty edits of the genetic code of
a gray wolf.

Which is the species' closest to a living relative.

No, I think you're probably right, because they're a company
that's all also known as the de extinction Company.

Yeah, they're trying to take the DNA from chickens and
reverse you know, take things out of it and reverse
engineer it basically back to a t rex.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Right with whatever they get from the fossils. That is
really cool.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
But why, My question is why we're funding why? Like
what are we trying to do? What are we gonna
do with these wolves? I don't know they're funding them.
They think they're funding themselves, but like like they will
come in, they come eat us, Like, why what are
we doing? I don't know.

But there's a really there's a really cute picture of
one of the guys from the Colossal Bioscience company and
he's holding like this like white dire wolf fl like puppy.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Like I think that is freaking cool. But I would
like to know the why. And I don't know that's
the dire wolf. It probably speaks English and that was
the last day. Probably spins around and it's talking about
the end of days.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I mean, need sh my gosh.

This is I mean, imagine all the things that they
can bring back.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Yeah, we've seen the movie Jurassic exactly it never ends.

Well, it was so exactly they had to blow up
the island and there were so many dinosaurs still on
it like the.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Nights and now I cried. I cried too, AND's gonna
be the same Heaven we were all zombies though, No
they weren't.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
You got dire zombies.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Wow, these aren't These aren't zombies? Well I guess teys
they were.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
They're not a zombie, right, that's all right? Very extinct
for ten thousand years.

Yeah, I know, it's so wild. Also, it's never planning
on committing murder. Know that your DNA can hang out
for a long time. They're gonna get you. But then
they could bring people back.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
No, I'm saying DNA lasts a lot longer than I
thought it did.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, starting now, people will be pretty soon.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
I'm sure they can. They could probably do the same
thing and somehow bring back.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
But they're already doing the body oid things.

So they're bringing back like different types of organs to
help people.

We reported on this a few days ago. So science
is doing some pretty wild things.

I don't want to start any conspiracy theories on the internet,
but I love doing that. But but imagine if they
have Jesus DNA somewhere, what probably do and then he
comes back and he's upset about stuff.
