Speaker 1 (00:11):
Us on our Hamilton's Hotline. Hamilton's on Magnolia, Hamilton's on
Logle Tree. Two places for you to dine, both quality places,
good places, great atmosphere.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Coach Cook, good.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Morning, Good morning, de Mark.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
How we're doing man, We're good, coach, how are you?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I'm doing well? Doing well?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
All right, all right, all right, let's get caught up. Coach.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Let's see we've had You're into playoffs, so congratulations of that.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
But it didn't turn out quite Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Absolutely, let me say that there's something to be said
for that, coach, as you know.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Sure, yeah, I don't want to run over that lightly.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Your first year in HSA and making the playoffs. I'll
let you make a comment on that.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah, I mean, obviously it's a big deal. And you know,
with with only two teams from Meach region getting in, uh,
you know, anything can happen when you get in the layoffs.
You know, everybody's zero zero, and you know things can
happen as you advance, you know, around a round. So

(01:11):
we're just we're going to try to take care around
one and then go from there. So we're we're excited,
and you know, I tell the guys that, you know,
it's something to be proud of, especially that senior group,
you know, first year, you know, in the in the association,
and you know that's something that they that we can
build on, but they can look back, you know, five

(01:32):
ten years from now really be proud of where you know,
where they started the program in this league and uh,
you know the trajectory of where we're headed. So really
proud of that. But you know, we've got work to
do and if we want to keep advancing each round.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
There you go, all right, you are advanced.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Let's go back last week, Coach Glenwood. I came over
the first game. Uh, it was a tough battle. Let's see,
you played two games with Glenwood three one lost to
the openers of five zero and then one six over
at Glenwood young man Patrick Glenwood had a good good
day that day, coach over here at John Millsfield.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, there. Their staff's just really good, really experienced. You know,
we didn't didn't get many opportunities with guys in scoring position,
and you know, and credit goes to them. You know,
we could we have done things better at the plate, Yeah, sure,
but you know, Tyler was just really good, really good

(02:31):
stuff that day. And you know, it'spanding doing really well,
you know, up and and out. So I had really
good stuff that day and just just one of those
days where you know, if you don't hold him to
one or two runs, you know, the way he's pitching,
it's gonna be a tough day to to try to win.
But uh, you know, proud of our guys for for

(02:52):
bouncing back. And on Saturday, you know we were I
mean not Saturday, I'm sorry, Thay, Yeah, bouncing back Thursday
and we were, you know, we were right there in
a one run game and the sixth I think it was,
and you know, just couldn't get off the field defensively,

(03:14):
and uh, you know the score on doesn't really tell
the whole game. But you know we came back in
one game three, so really you know, two had three games.
I thought we're right there for us to win, and
you know we just got to do do the little
things better, you know, and maybe that's a different series,

(03:36):
but you know, credit those guys and they're pitching staff,
and you know they got some timely hits and put
more balls in play than we did offensively. So you know,
they're eighteen and three or whatever, nineteen and three for
a reason. So solid ball club for sure. And Tim
does a great job with those guys.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yes he does.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
You're right, we're talking at least got coach Jered Cook.
We're talking Warrior baseball. The Warriors in the playoffs in
the HSA and area and excuse me, Class three A
headed to the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Coach, tell me what that playoff picture looks like. I
know you've got to go on the road. Haven't you
had time to research it? Give me a little rundown?

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah, I think, uh, from what I can tell, uh,
Thorst ben Hell County are playing in the region that
that well we will travel to. I think actually that
will be determined this week. So you know, I don't
know a whole lot about either one of those teams,

(04:35):
but those are those are two teams where that I
can see on the website that we will travel through.
One of one of those two for the first round.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Got you got you know, do you know much about
either one of them? Coach?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
And I know you kin, uh, yeah, I mean I've
I've never played Hell County. We've played Thorsby, you know,
years and years ago when I was at Trinity. But yeah,
I mean, you know, every team in the playoffs is
there for a reason, and you know you respect every
team and you know, well, we'll get some information on

(05:12):
after after this week's decided. But yeah, I mean, at
this point, it's about just it's about us and how
we play and how we can execute and play clean,
and you know, when we do that and we pitch
it well, and we have quality at bats that have played,
I feel like, you know, we can play with anybody

(05:32):
in three eight. But I gotta go do those things.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
So yeah, I do agree with that.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Tell me about your players, coach, as you hear, No,
let me go back, who else? Do you have anybody
else on your schedule?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Looking, what do you do? You have four games left?
Don't you just came up on my game change?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah? So we you know, we moved today's game to
tomorrow with Alabama christ so we actually we actually go
on the road all this week. Yeah, we'll play We'll
play at Alabama Crew soon tomorrow we go to Carrollton, Georgia,
where where I grew up and where I played high

(06:07):
school ball, and uh we'll go play them on Wednesday,
and they're having a really good year. I think they've
only lost like four or five games. So, uh, then
we'll go on the road and play Marbury, which is
another you know, really good five a playoff baseball team.
So you know, we got to continue to play teams

(06:28):
that are gonna make us better even you know, even
in our in the weeks leading up to the playoffs,
so you know, we can find foods and things and
keep playing, you know, the brand of baseball we want
to play.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Understand that tell me this is the playoffs start that
week of the fourteenth, coach, when you got Montgomery Catholic,
is that right?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Yes? Yeah, so we'll have Senior Night. Yeah, we'll have
Senior Night that Monday against Montgomery Catholic, Okay, and celebrate
those guys and everything they've done for our program. Really
special group. And then yes, we will most likely be
you know Friday. Friday will be a doubleheader at either

(07:08):
Hell County or Thorsby and then this game's always on
Saturday during the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
There you go, all right, anything you want to mention
about your seniors, coach, you want to bring up.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Some of those How many have you got? I know
we've gone over how.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Many of you got about six? Yeah? I mean we
got Sam Jackson and Alan Owen and Braden Butler's you know,
been hurt for most of the year, but he's he's
trying to get back. And we got Smith, Harkins and
Harrison Short and I mean I just named five.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Thank you got five? Yeah, I wouldn't count.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
But Sam Jackson you did say Sam, you said, Martin,
I was trying to think myself.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Coach, you said, Alan, I don't know John Jones, Okay,
there you go. I don't know that like I did.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Yeah, that's been a kind of uh a Swiss armor
Knight for us. You know, he can he can play
multiple positions, but he's been catching playing second base for us.
But you know those guys that really and all of them,
you know, they come to work, they don't complain, They
lead in a way that's going to make our program

(08:23):
better for the future. So really proud of of kind
of where we are and here two and and how
their their leadership is gonna you know, filter down to
the rest of our program.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Well, there you go a lot of baseballf hopefully for you.
I have to comminion that game the other night the
other day. Uh, there's a play a second and Shooter
had the ball or Hating had the ball and obviously
had to out and reached out and tried to throw
the guys at first he gets to play and drop
the ball on part called he said, I don't want
to call it.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Obviously he didn't see it, and I.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Thought you didn't have the angle.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Thank you, because I kind of yelled a couple of times.
I didn't like doing that.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
But you can out there you calmly, he's out there
and talk and they calmly got it right.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
So yeah, go ahead. I mean, I've learned over the
years that you know, if you you know, those guys
have a hard job. Now you know, you know they work,
uh you know, most of them work a daytime job
and then they're getting off and they're coming to call
games and they're traveling, and good point, they don't get
paid a whole lot, and so you know, I respect

(09:27):
those guys they're not perfect, just like we aren't on
the field, and the decisions we make as coaches aren't perfect.
So you know, if if you see me go out
there and I'm upset, then it's something really really bad.
But uh, you know, I try to I try to
approach them with respect and hope and hope that I
get that in return, you know, as a coach. So yeah,

(09:51):
I mean they got the call right.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
They got it.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
They just didn't have he just didn't have the angle
with Hayden's back being turned.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
And you know, well, I'm glad you, but well you
handle it right, and they handled right. I was just
I knew both of them, but I was just curious
why that homeplay. I'm probably didn't come out and start with.
But they don't do that. They want to.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Overrule each other without.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
But I wish they just The only thing I would
say is just get the call right. It's about those kids,
that's all that's about. And you made a good point,
he probably from it was I had a great angle
from a thousand yards away.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
But.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
You always got I got a great ad I get.
I don't ever miss and I was right on glen
Woods side.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
That felt real good. Right over there and there, Dug.
I told coach nothing, and he goes, no, you made a.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Good Sometimes you miss you know, they miss things and
they just miss it. Yeah. I mean we've seen the
outcome of a state championship game, Yeah, determined by a
a bad call on a sacrifice fly. You remember that
a few years ago, cause I remember that.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Yeah, that was a hart of game. Yeah, I do
remember that.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
And that coach was dying with I mean, it's a
horrible story, you know, And then you're right, yes, yes,
but anyway, I wanted to command for that.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
This idiot over here yelling.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
You just ease, that's what I think you Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
All right, well you guys played hard. I hate you lost,
and then you went over and got one of them,
but all right you got four they did.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
And look our guys, you know, we we could have
you know, just kind of packed it in and you know,
the third third game just kind of melt it in
and laid down by you know what. That's the that's
the growth and the excuse me, the maturity that I've
seen with this group. And you know, we're gonna keep

(11:38):
fighting and scrapping until until the last out, So you know,
that's why I told them we're playing for pride this
third game. You know. It obviously doesn't mean you think
of the grand grand scheme of things other than you know,
just playing for pride and going out there and competing
and you know, and that's what Max Max did on
the Mound, and we scored just enough. I think we

(12:00):
up the bases loaded twice, which you know, we've just
got to be better at offensively. There's too many starkouts
with with guys in scoring position. But yeah, really proud
of our pitch staff really, you know, really if you
look at all three games, you know on the Mound
had a chance to win those and those guys gave

(12:22):
us the chance to win. So, you know, really good
stuff there. We find some find something there offensively, maybe
a different series, but that's right, something learned from and
grow from and look forward in the playoffs to getting
better in those areas.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Yeah, lefty battle now, I'll tell you that the sophomore battle,
what do you go about five and a half, five
and two thirds I left about that time or maybe six?

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Yeah, yeah, I mean he I know he got us
through five. I think it was maybe even got an out.
I can't remember the six, But that's what we talked about,
how big that was and been over stave arms back
for you know, game two, in game three, it's a
big deal when you're dealing with pitchcounts and who's available
for the next game. So yeah, those guys have been

(13:13):
throwing the ball really well. We continue to do that.
We'll always have a change.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
You're right, coach, Thanks for your time and enjoyed the game.
Good luck the rest of the week.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
And your next home game is when Monday?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
You off Monday. Yeah, yeah, we're on the road all
this week. Senior day Cale, good new.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
We'll check with you next Monday. Have a great week, coach, appreciate.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
It all right, guys, thank you, got go Warriors.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
That's the head coach Jared Cook for the
