Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cass serve you on Magnolia and Ogletree, and we bring
in the head football coach at.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
O Plake High School, Brian Moore. Good morning, coach, good
job Friday night.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Thanks see Mark. Glad to get a win.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Absolutely absolutely all right, coach, let's talk about the game.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Break it down for ust. Give me your summary.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Uh yeah, I mean we didn't play very good. We
were sloppy, sentialized, you know, had some had some other
character things for us, but we but it was a
resilient night, I guess you could say. I mean we
uh in a night that I felt like, you know,
we we could have pushed the lead out, you know,
could have made it a two score game. We didn't,
(00:41):
but we you know, and we we gave up the
lead late, you know, point afters. We're an issue. We
missed two p A T s. There's a lot of
reasons behind that that we'll get cleaned up and you know,
and and put us behind by a point late and
uh to drive the ball back down and go eighty
yards and uh score touchdown and then get a stop
(01:02):
defensively at the end. I thought was really big. So again,
you know, not not very clean, but excited for the
kids and a lot of new faces that are out
there that you know, showed some resilience and h I
do think it was a program win. I've had some
people say that, you know, over the weekend that just
staying connected. You know, there was I think three drives
(01:24):
in a row. Offensively, we didn't move it at all,
and our defense had to constantly over and over get stops,
especially after we turned it over in our own red zone. Uh,
you know that really can't happen. And so but but again,
for our guys to bounce back, I thought was was
a statement for them that, you know, again they would
(01:45):
like to carry the tradition and standard you know that
we played with last year. So uh, excited to get
a win. Got a lot to fix in a short week.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
All right, Brian Moore with a soap like a bulldoll's
coming off a five point victory over Benjamin Russell. All right, yardist, coach,
how many yards we have and they have Ben Russell
and o'black we.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Were both right around three forty, right in that range
they had. They had two hundred and four yards passing
in the first half and in like thirty in the
second half. I was proud of that number. They ran
it for seventy one yards, which was less than three
yards of carry, so stopping the run was crucial. They
had one drive that they ran. They had a twenty
(02:23):
five yard run, and that was really a you know,
a lot of that that seventy one yards. Obviously, Other
than that we did a good job. The rest really
were quarterback scrambles for us. We threw it I think
Kobe threw it for one hundred and seventy something, maybe
one hundred and seventy five, and then we ran it
for about the same number, somewhere in that range. So
(02:43):
you know, the minimum mark of Russian is one fifty,
and we did that. So again, got it. Gotta be
a little bit more explosive to hit some of the
big plays, but overall did some good things.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, I agree with it was a good win. I
enjoyed the game. It's a good crowd, coach, very good crowd.
You gotta be proud of.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
That distri ship that real quick, yeah, I mean unreal
both sides. I mean they traveled, we did too. I
thought it was I thought it was an incredible crowd
and I appreciate everybody that came out.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I hate to go down this road.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
I thought I went to a football game, but I
saw a bunch of men throwing flags every five seconds
and huddling up. Tell me about that.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Yeah, you know, and they're right, I mean the officials.
The mouthpiece and knee pad issue is something that the
state is pushed and you know, it's something that we
got adhere to. So the game was slow. I mean
it was two hours in the first half. It was very,
very slow. Uh, but we've got to clean some things up.
A lot a lot of it was was us, you know,
(03:41):
and and uh not all mouthpieces and knee pads, but
you know, we had I think four holding penalties. It
just was sloppy, where last year we were not. You know,
we were pretty clean in the first game. So it's
just a different, uh you know, different issue. And and
so with a lot of new faces again, uh, we
got some things to clean up and and uh we'll
do that this week.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, I hope. So I just you know, you just
go to the football game to want to enjoy the kids.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
And I just felt like every flag they had to
huddle for five minutes before they decided what they were
going to call. And I just got aggravated with that
as a fan trying to watch kids play. I don't know.
I don't know how you handled it as a coach.
Obviously you did a good job with it.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah, it was it was slow and it's hard to
get in any rhythm when that happened.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, you're right about that. Any guys you want to
bring out coaching played well. I thought you had some
kids play really well overall. I know your team played well.
We had some fumbles, We had quite a few. Coach,
we were able to get something back. I know that's
a concern to you.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yeah, we fumbled more in the first game than we
did all year last year.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Actually, in the in the first half, we had four
fumble We didn't fumble four times all year last year.
Luckily we got on all four. But it's unacceptable. It's
unacceptable to put the ball the ground. That's something that
our coaches have worked really hard on and you know,
but we've got to go back and make sure we
do a better job of that. We didn't do a
good enough job coaching our kids, and so we've got
to clean up our fumble issues. And oh, I get
(05:04):
I thought Kolby. I thought, I thought Colby did a
really good job and uh and and playing well at
times and again showed some resilious and maturity over the
last you know, over the last year compared to last year.
He had a big turnover late in the game, but
came back and led an eighty yard drive. Yes, all
to what he's done over the off season, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
All right, coach here, we moved to Callaway, call Hill,
excuse me, Callaway this Thursday, So talk about them.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
No, we'll get a little bit Friday, but just a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
For sure. It's super talented, you know they are. They've
got a coach that's been there twenty something years that
you know, probably coached a lot of the dads in
the program. And there's a lot of trust with those guys,
and so you know, we'll we'll have our work cut
out for us. I mean, it's a six o'clock kickoff
Central time.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I wonder you said that, ye, uh.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Sixth Central, seven Eastern. We are on Georgia Public Television,
which I think is really cool to be able to
broadcast throughout the state of Georgia. But you know, they
got a good team and like I said coach, And yeah,
we'll have some guy.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Oh may have lost him here? May I let you there? Coach,
I think we may have lost him there. Oh that
flip flop?
Speaker 1 (06:23):
All right, that was coach Brian Moore giving us a
rundown on the OAP like a bulldog.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
This win. We'll have him Friday morning, talk about more
about
