Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning everyone.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
First off, want to thank everybody for what they do here,
our Heart radio and Orthopedics media. I think this is
next second to none to anybody what we do over
here in East Alabama, what you do for us over
here in East Alabama, and we really appreciated from LA
fed the everything that you do. With that being said,

(00:26):
start out from last year in a very tough region,
we ended up five and five.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Came strives from we were a year before that.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
A lot going on at La Fede right now with
a lot of our young men getting better over the
course of this past summer, a lot of things that
we've seen during the year that we can approve on.
It's been our one of our biggest things is getting
stronger in the weight room. Felt some of the game,
some of those five games we lost was because our strength.

(01:00):
So that's been one of our major things that we've
worked on throughout the off season as getting bigger, faster, stronger.
Coach Agent has done a great job with our guys
of getting them in this weight room and getting them bigger, faster,
stronger for what we trying to do for the next year.
Lost a lot of singiors lost eleven singers from last year.

(01:23):
Have a lot of guys that is gonna have to step.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Up in new roles.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Defensively wise, we returned four starters and offensive wise will
return seven. These young men that I have before me
now have been with me since I've got here as
seven greaterers and moved on.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
They've been through the thick and thin.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Just just loving each one of these guys. And what
we're trying to become is more oriented between us. You know,
a lot of things that happen on the field are
gonna happen with with or without things. We want these
kids to be better people. These four that I got
with me now, I love them to death. They've seen,

(02:10):
like I said, the good and the bad. We just
talked about it before we got up here, and I'm
proud of them and sticking with football here at Lafette
and I'm gonna introduce them now.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
To my left, I have cam Thomas cam is Our
as a senior. He'll be playing wide receiver in dB
for us U. Next is Ty Gates. Ty Gates, we're
playing offensive line and defensive line for US. To my
right Michael Turner, junior.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
UH.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
He also was playing whole line and D line for US.
He's also a senior and Zalen Todd. Zalen is also
a singer. He'll be playing linebacker and a lot of
tide in for US this year. So now we are
available for questions over we're one.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
What are you kind of alluded to sticking with Lafette?
And uh, just what do you think it says about
your coaching staff, all all the guys you have with
You know, someone might be looking for a coaching job
and they read an article about the school might be merging,
and but what does it say about you know, the
staff you have that you guys want to stick with
these kids and what do you want to accomplish with them?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Glad you said it start off with the staff. Our
staff is getting better yearly. This year we've had a
DeMarco McNeil. You might know you used to play voll.
He's gonna be our defensive coordinator this year. Travis Carr
as well as our offensive coordinator. Craig Age is our
strengthy condition, our require receivers, and DB's coach Carrie Toes

(03:44):
is our runners back coach.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Coach Kit we just got in this year.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
He'll be our linebackers, coach, coach, trade counsel is our
o line coach and coach Mike uh All of those
guys do a great job. For they don't do a
good job. They do a great job, and we're pushing
them just like we push these kids the same thing.
We gave them a list that we want to be
better on. The kids got the same list. So everybody

(04:12):
wants to get better. And when you have a staff
and players who want to get better, these guys up
here right now, I don't think they've missed up day
of workouts and my correct guys, they have been there
and it's probably one of the first that I can
see a lot of guys been there every day. We
give our kids like three or four days they can
miss because we go four days on both months, and

(04:34):
they've been there every day.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
And when they got.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Through, they've came back to me and said, coach, to
your mind, we go on the field. So that shows
me that what our coaching staff is doing is working
and they understand five and five is average.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
We talk real this morning.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I think we all sit down before we came here
and just had a thing where each one of us
told our weaknesses a lot of times as we asked
these kids what their weaknesses, they never know ours. So
the day we all, all five of us sit down
and talked about our weaknesses and the things that we
want to get better at.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Hey, coach, you mentioned strength back here. Sorry you mentioned strength,
and in addition to that, you had OTAs down at
the Auburn Highs. So what other things have you been
focusing on this offseason?

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Love for each other? Our kids loving each other. We
talked about that earlier. Is that just don't love your friends,
love your other teammates. But also that is you know,
it's great to win the day, but let's prepare for
the next one. All saw and our kids understand that

(05:48):
a lot of things that happened to us last season
was the little things.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Maybe might be that.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Guy who missed that practice that day, He might miss
that play that cost us that down, So a lot
of accountability. We want to be a player driving team
this year. It's good to be a coach driven team,
but it's great to be a player driven team. And
that's some of the things that we're telling our kids
and showing them, and that starts with me. We got
things playing that we do stuff just as much on

(06:15):
the field and off the field with these kids.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Yeah, Coach, last year, you had some great victories where
you beat teams by a pretty wide margin. You also
had some other games where you lost by a pretty
much pretty wide margin. What are some things you're looking
to do as a staff and as a team this
year to kind of help make those final performances a
little bit more consistent throughout the season.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, a great question, and I break it down to
this is I felt we won the games we should
have won, and we didn't win the games we.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Could have won.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
And doing that is preparation. You know, we got to
prepare better. I have to do a better job and
make sure my team is prepared to hit the field
understand their dudes and.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Dun'ts before they get there.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
So I'll do a better job at My staff is
going to do a better job of day and we're
gonna make sure that we are all in the same
plane to get into the playoffs, because to get into
the playoffs, you have to win those other games.

Speaker 7 (07:13):
Coach, last year in LaVette, you got some good news
with the new field house. What does that say with
the community rallying around your program. I know there's the
last couple of years. To be real, there's been a
lot from the community as far as the consolidation, as

(07:34):
far as the merger. I know you hear it, you
feel it, you see it every day. But with that clubhouse,
and I know too the outsiders, it may seem a
tad minor. But if you're inside Lafette, Alabama, and you're
inside Chambers County, what does that? What does that tell
you and your teammates when you get the love from
the community, that that that you're getting right now as

(07:55):
you move this program forward and try and take that
another hump to come off of five and five, say.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Well, our community has been great. And just like I
told these kids today this morning, what do you have?
Other people don't have? So to whom much is given,
much is expected. Our community, our moms and dads there
being great. We found the way that our community stays
together and Monday through Thursday, after every practice, our kids

(08:23):
get a meal.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
It's very good of what they are doing.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
I had a parent this morning call the coach, call
and tell me, let's talk.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
About how we're gonna do things. So it is wonderful.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
What's happening in Lafeed, Alabama, and we're appreciative of everything
and everybody in the community. Appreciative of our superintendent, doctor
Sharon Well, and our principal Christi brought Johnson. Those ladies
do a wonderful job helping us out and we appreciate it.
We appreciate everything that's going on around us. Our board members.
Just thank everybody for putting in and keep on working

(08:56):
with everybody.

Speaker 8 (08:59):
Coach first all, I want to say thank you for
being one of the schools that is faithful to call
us on Friday nights, win or lose and talk about
your kids. Guys, I'd like for y'all to stand up,
give us your name and tell us what your goals

(09:20):
have been for this coming season and how hard you've
worked for it after going five and five last year.

Speaker 9 (09:26):
My name Michael Turner, and I played old line d line,
and our goals have been stay committed to each other
and I always want to win and keep each other
all we can and our bitches.

Speaker 10 (09:42):
My name is Zalen Toide. I played inside linebacker and
our goal for this year is just improved from last year.
Coming off for some bad seasons and it's coming off
some good one. We just want to be better than
we would last year and make the playoff.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Thomas, I played receiver and dB improved better, way better
than last year, and get more together as a group
with chemistry. We're having a young skills it well, a
young skill group coming in from more than last year
because we had three seals all had the skills. This year,
I was all a junior and you know, it's just

(10:20):
a young group coming in.

Speaker 11 (10:26):
My name is Todd Gates. I play old line and
D line for the high school, and I goes with
this season is to improve and kind of build a brotherhood.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Blind at the fact because like we

Speaker 11 (10:38):
This year, we got a younger team, but they are
very dedicated to trying to improve and that's why I
feel like this season is gonna be very successful this
year
