of our coaches and one of the coaches that will
be there. He's the head coach of the Auburn High
Tigers and he is live on the Hamilton's outline. Hambleton's
has a location on Magnolia and Ogle Tree. Keith Ethridge
is the head coach. Good morning, my friend, how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Good morning, Dave Mark, How are you good?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Got Jeffrey Craig over here leaning in the studio too.
How you doing, coach?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
What's up? How'm going?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I'm doing great? You hear from you. Twenty three Yeah,
twenty three seven. You got your win last Friday, coach,
I was there. It was it was another one of
those You could have scored a bunch early, but they
they hung around in the game, didn't they.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, we just like I said, we got we gotta
get in the red zone. We got to get some
thanks fixing. So uh, we worked on all last week,
working on all this week. So hopefully we'll get some
of those things fixed, you know, And like you know,
I've told everybody it's a work in progress. You know.
We got a lot of a lot of guys out
there that are that are that are working really really hard.
(01:02):
We just got to, you know, get some games under
our belt and by the by, you know, end of
the year, we'll be finishing those those drives and getting
touchdowns to the field goals.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
There you go. You know what, shame on me? I
opened up with a negative and that ain't good. You
won the freaking game, so.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Well that ain't exactly right.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Well, I mean, I know we talked after that. Yeah,
I know you were, but I should have said good
job on the twenty seven twenty three seven win instead
of going in.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
But you did have troubling Yeah, well you know, we
we we we understand what we got to work on.
We understand what we got to work on. Look, I
told those guys, I'll take you know, I'll take Keim Moore,
uh one point win right.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
There you go, there you go. And I want to
say this, there was a hit on their quarterback. Uh
and And people might have said there was no late hit,
vicious hit. It was one of those plays where the
helmet came off simultaneously. Well, one of your guys was tackling.
I just wanted to clear that up if anybody thought
there was no penalty thrown on the play. There was
no dirty play the young man. I think it's okay. Yeah,
(02:01):
I just I thought i'd bring that. That happened right
in front of me, coach, So I wanted to bring
that up.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, I mean I watched the film. You know, uh
we are are Greg Greg. Greg Williams is a heck
of a linebacker, yes, and when he gets there, he
gets there with some malice. He plays really hard. You know,
the kids got him and we played we played uh
four games and he's got you know, forty eight tackles
(02:27):
and wow, wow all over the field. You know, he's
a he's a great player, and he plays hard. And
that quarterback runs the.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Ball really really hard.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I felt bad for him to coach, because I didn't
want him to think, you know what I mean, he
hurt that kid, and I didn't want him to think
it was you know, you know when you watch and
you I was like, dude, you couldn't help that, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, yeah, he's just playing football. He's just playing football,
you know, understand Yes, Yeah, but I've seen that quarterback
run over.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Oh yeah, there was no there was no you about it.
I just wanted to declare I had. Some people asked me.
I was like, no, no, no, his helmet came off simultaneous.
In fact, I don't know how your your he could
have stopped. I don't know what he could have done.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
You know, he could know the helmet came off when
as they hit right, you know, they sort of both
ducked their heads. But I'm gonna say this to the
young kid that came in, did a really good job.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
He did, coach. I was impressed with him. Yeah, really,
what was he a sophomore for enterprise coach? Maybe a sophomore.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah. I went over there and and uh, I saw
you to a locker room and pulled him, pulled him
out and told him what a great job I.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Saw you do that, coach. Yeah, I thought that was
pretty classy of you. That's that's what That's what good
coaches do. That that kid played his hard out, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yeah, and you want to bring the every kid, you know,
it don't matter if they're on your bring them up right.
I mean, I think that's what it's all about. I've
been doing this twenty six years. It's not about the
winds loss, about the you know, the relationships she was
developing and just just just supporting kids. Yeah, it's a
sport where you've learned a lot of life lesson and
(04:05):
this is a sport where where you can develop a
lot of relationships with people, whether on your team or
on another team. There you go. So just try to
I tell our kids try to do that.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
I don't know that young man, but I can tell
he was nervous and I thought he did so well.
Uh coming in that was enterprising. And but anyway, good win, coach,
you got jag this week. Uh, Jack is kind of
struggling a little bit. I don't want to put any
you know, people can read they had a tough night
against Ophlaka. But it's about your team getting better at.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
The coach, Yeah, it's it's about us, us taking care
of Auburn. You know, that's doing what Auburn does and
just getting better every Friday night and you know, just
just working to be the best we can by the
end of the year. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
I want to say this too, shuffling a little bit backwards.
When I I've watched all three times, he kicks in
and ends on every time, and it's just yeah, you
get you That is amazing And it ain't just on
the line. It's out the back of the end.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yeah, he has something to be said for that, coach.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
And his punting has been unbelieved. I mean he kicks
some sky balls. When you got a guy kicking there,
you're getting about you're getting about four point five, four
point four hang time, no doubt, sick time. It gives
your time, gives you a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Of time to go down to cover that boss stays
up forever, coach. I mean, he kicks some the other
night and I was just like wow. And then when
he kicks off, he doesn't even look like he's kicking
hard when he kicks off and it just explodes off
his foot. Anyway, that's a weapon. You know. I've seen
other kid kickers do that. That's just a weapon. A
(05:39):
lot of people don't talk about enough.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
In my opinion, Coach, it is a weapon. You know,
if you got to start on twenty yard line, that
means you got to put a drive together, make some
big plays to get all the way down.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
And I thought you're kicking you were good. I'm talking
over you. I don't mean that, but yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
No, we we we that's some things we've worked on.
You know. We real good in that department in a
couple of games, you know, early, so we did work
on that stuff, and I think we're doing a lot
better right now.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Okay, all right, so tell me about jack, coach.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Uh, they've got some athletes, you know, like you said,
they're struggling a little bit, but they played some really
good teams. So you know, they've got some guys who
can heard your music. Got to make sure we find
those guys and do the little things right, block tackle,
you know, uh, do all the little things right.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, well, anybody you want to mention it played well
last week, coach, I forgot to ask you that any.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Names, I think all I think all kids played pretty well. Yes,
you know, uh uh, you know, hopefully we get some
situations where we get some younger guys in this week
and see them and uh and make some make some adjustments.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
So okay, all right, what about your JV and your
middle school coach?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
How they do playing really good? Middle school's playing really good?
Really excited about that, Really excited about that. Okay, and
I think that, uh, we've won most of those games,
so really excited.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
All right, coach, I know you have practiced anything else
you want to get up before we.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Go, no, sir, I appreciate y'all.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yes, sir, go tigers. I'll see you tonight at MOS.
All right, buddy, see you tonight.
Speaker 2 (07:11):

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Switch it up there, you go, switch it up. All right.
We'll see you in the first lady tonight. Take care,
Love you man, Yes, sir Keith
