Speaker 1 (00:00):
The two locations as always say, Magnolia and Ogle Tree.
Hamilton's restaurants, great restaurants. We encourage to go by there
seven days a week, fine diamond dining, relaxed atmosphere and
have great food. Lad ballasoup. Obama Preps is live on
that hot line from Birmingham, alab bast of Alabama. Good
morning to you've led.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Warning guys, have we done?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
We're doing good. We're doing good, Bud. How are you
as good to see you last week?

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah? Absolutely, it was a great three days. Man had
some good football and uh, I'm gonna go do some
basketball now, so wrapped it all up.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah, what'd you think about the Super Seven?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Well, I think some of the state title games were
actually playing the semi final. D Mark had a lot
of blowout. We had the closest game being the two
a game with two secretion and the net. You look
at what Thompson did, You look at what Jackson did,
You look at what you know, Mars Hill. Some of
these teams did. And I think we can fatfully say

(01:00):
that the right champion was crowned. But yeah, congratulations to
all fourteen teams that made it. It's a great accomplishment,
whether win or lose making it to the Super Seven.
But if you win it it's a it's a little
bit sweeter. So yeah, it was a great three days.
And you know, I think we I think we really

(01:23):
had a lot revealed that we expected throughout the year.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, I agree with you on that. I never got
the attendance figures. Have you heard any attendance numbers?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
No, I have not. I wouldn't assumed and not I'd
assume they're not that bad.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
No, I wouldn't think bad. Glad I hadn't. I wasn't
there Friday obviously, as you know. And but other than that,
it was a good crowd.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Clay Chalknill brought it. They brought a great crowd. Sarah
Land brought a great crowd. Student section for sarah Land
was great, and the atmosphere of that game was good.
The game was just a little bit one sided. Clay
came out hot, you know, really didn't put their foot
off the gas the entire game.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
No, they didn't. They they probably proved everyone of the
best in Alabama.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
You know, yep, that's right. Yeah, they've got a they've
got a heck of a quarterback. Aaron Frye, who uh
who won game MVP? Josh Woods really good running back
for them. But you know, defensively, man, I'll tell you
where Clay really got sarah Land, and it's in the trenches.
Whether that's offensive line play, defensive line play. Not only

(02:37):
were they just bigger, they had higher motors and they
were able to really get after Sarahland's quarterback, Jamison Roberts.
The Clay pass rush, man, it was something else during
this playoff run, and especially at the Super seven.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
They couldn't block them. He said that had a hard block.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I don't know, but I I wouldn't. I wouldn't doubt
they'd had over ten hurries. They had a few sacks.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, well I meant hurry sacks when I say sacks,
just pressure they were they.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Were yeah, but they were in the backfield absolutely.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah, Thompson had no trouble with Oplaka. That was kind
of a dominating performance there. I'm proud of Oplaka were
going getting there.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah, absolutely. When you when you have your quarterback change
twice throughout the year, deal with some injuries, you know,
sneak into the playoffs and they made They went on
a heck of a run. You know, it's a commendable
effort to go at hew It, beat those guys, play Baker,

(03:45):
who is your Region one champions, and then have to
go to the Duck and play Auburn and you know,
a sold out game, high pressure atmosphere. I got major
props to win.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Cooper, TJ.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Johnson and coach more, that entire staff. It's a great year. Yes, no,
I'm sorry, No, it's not the outcome you want, but yes, absolutely,
I think there's a lot to take away from it,
and I think there's a lot to build off of
I agree.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, absolutely, well said, well said, the best team won
that football game. I don't think there's any question about
that that night, but hopefully I could did a tremendous job.
You just reeled off a gamut of things that they
did to make that work. So I'm glad you said
that five a game when it Moody took care of
business there and did they smoked cigars at the end
of that game?

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Led they did?

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Now, what the heck? What were people doing? Yeah? Yeah, no,
I chars down there.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
But well, you know the you hope the coaches are
just messing with you. Yeah, no, I don't. I don't,
you know, that's that's all that stuff. And I'm sure
going to be resolved already.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Oh oh and with they'moved.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, yeah, it was. It was hard for me to
it would be hard for me to not think so.
But but first and foremost, congratulations to Moody coach Gainnis
finally gets it done. Man, he's he's been working towards this.
Hasn't had a season under ten wins at Moody in

(05:32):
four years that he's in the four years that he's
been there, and they finally secure a blue mask. The
fact that they got to do it in Birmingham in
front of their fans and say what de marked this game?
It was rain, rain, rain, and it was It was
a game where Moody said, all right, we're gonna run
the football. I don't know Moody starting quarterback. I doubt

(05:55):
that he put it in the air one five times
and they were able to run with Camera Meadows, the
Western Kentucky to their running back West WM Entucky signee
running back excuse me, and their defense just I mean
they had they had a Vigrus quarterback, Samly done in

(06:15):
a box. It is not much happening for Viger. But yeah, no,
Moody dominated the game. We got to see the rare
free kick yep in high school football, which was great
and just an overall great performance.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, what was the what was it? Nine three one?
What was that on their helmet? Whatever? Nine nine one three?
What was what that? What's that for? Jeff?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Now? What was that? That's their school address?

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Oh, nine one three, nine one.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Three, that's their school address and.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
They put it on their helm I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I don't know either.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Wow, Okay, that was good. Seventeen needs to be on oplikas.
All right, good day, all right, continue on with your
recap out, just let you go. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Absolutely, we moved down to four A and well, I
don't know what you want me to say. Fifty two
to nothing domination fifty two nothing. Hey, it was at
least it wasn't last year where it was sixty nine
to six.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Good point.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
So they're actually going down in points. But Jackson defeats Aniston.
Xavier Cowell you should know his name by now.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
If you don't learn it, twenty seven carries three hundred
and sixty yards, became the Alabama state rushing leader for
this season, so passed Maurice Winston from Randolph County on
probably the final handoff in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
He only beat him by a few yards, but they
were trying to chase that record before Xavier Cowell heads
off to Alabama, and he was able to get it done.
And you know when you've got him. Landon Duckworth played
a great game. Kean Chapman had an amazing match over
an Aniston defender late in the first half, and it

(08:05):
was really a route.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Through and through.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
You know this, this Jackson team is probably the easiest one.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
To pick as the state champion.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
You go all the way back and if you listen
back to me and your conversations d Mark, all the
way back in August, you know, all the way back
in the summer, and you asked me who I think
the champion will be in four A. It's these guys,
and here they are once again. So congratulations to them
Anderson as well. Good year. But uh, you're gonna have

(08:40):
a better chance next year from that, dude, isn't On
the other side, We'll moved down to We'll moved down
to three A. We had mars Hill Academy. Uh, they
played Basside Academy. Barrett Trotter and versus Daryl higgan Man.
Great performance for the two Marco running backs once again.

(09:04):
Jackson Penn the Troy commit defensive back and Hudson Higgins,
the UAV running back ran wild Man. They run the
offset flex bone. This is a mars Hill team that
has been an absolute buzz saw. Used that word before,
I'll use again. They're an absolute buzz saw and they
did it. They did it, they did it. Great performance

(09:25):
from them. You have two a Acusa Christian. They played
Lynette really close game, but Rush is able to get
his eighth state title, sixth in the AHSA. They win
twenty nine to twenty two. This is a close game,
d Mark, and when it came down to it, starting

(09:46):
quarterback for Kusa, Christian mac Long was able to step
up read option play sprints up the field touchdown. A
great performance. The play calling at the end of the
game was the elite for CUSA and especially when they're
star player. Kylin Johnson went down. You know, Kylin Johnson
is a guy who's got the football twenty thirty forty

(10:09):
times during his playoff run, and he collapsed on the
field and had to be carried off. And they were
able to win it for him and just really impressive overall.
Great win for Kousa Christian. That's their first ever as
just a state title and well you heard it, d

(10:30):
Mark Rush's open for business.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
It's been for business. I love that. I expect he'll
be getting some calls.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Man, No, yeah, yeah, I'm curious to see personally if
he'll stay in the great state of Alabama. Certainly love
to have him, and maybe he'll hop over to Georgia.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
But I don't know what you think.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
I don't think he's going back to Georgia. I think
he's gonna stay right here and get Eli to get
him a good job. I'd lave.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, I think I think now he can look out
a sixth a and go, yeah, look, I just want
the state championship, you know.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Yeah, and didn't have any issues.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
No issues, which is great.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
It's just fantastic final. Yeah. Finally, it's been a very
very very good Linette football team.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
They were they really were. Yeah, they surprised me. They
kept surprising me throughout the year. But you know, great
job to the Panthers and their staff. You know, certainly
a year to hang your hat on. I don't think
many people had expected them to come out of the
South and they did a great job with that really
good running back. I'm blanking on the same but number

(11:42):
twenty one for Lynette Man really tough runner, big running back.
They play in both ways obviously in two A. But
you know they've they've constructed a pretty well built football team.
They've got the trenches and they have a really good
receiver on the edge to Quest Johnson, who's got to
watch out for. He had four catches for two hundred

(12:02):
and one yards and three touchdowns against Real Town in
the semi final game, and he was able to make
an impact as well in the state title game. So
it wasn't for lack of trying for Lynnette. They were
leading in that football game against Couston. They just unfortunately
weren't able to get it done. And then we got
a little old one a as well. De Mark. We
had Maplesville play wildly in a rematch at the state

(12:24):
title last year and well, the script completely flipped. He
had Nemiah McCarry, the running back for Maplesville to four
star running back, did a great job running in that game.
Pierce Urigan was able to control the offense. The Maplesville
quarterback and really, for Wildly your offense is Jaques Wilks,

(12:44):
and when he goes down with a leg injury, obviously
hoping the best for him, speedy recovery before he gets
to Auburn. But when you lose a guy like that,
you know it's going to be tough sledding the rest
of the way. So congratulations to Maplesville. They end up
winning their game, they won forty two to twenty two,

(13:05):
and they get redemption on the state titled last year.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
There you go, and that wraps up the Super seven
right there.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Absolutely, I'll shout out the women's flag Moody brings it
home in the five A one A classification. They beat
Montgomery Catholic, the champions from last year out of that classification.
And then we all know what Central Phoenix City has done.
I believe it's something like fifty eight or fifty nine

(13:36):
games in a row that they've won. Now they've won
national championships in women's flag football. Dam Mark, they are
the real deal. They beat the Stavia. I believe it
was forty seven to seven.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
I think it was forty.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
The Stavia scored first in that game, and then it
was forty seven unanswered for the Red Devils as they
bring home another blue map.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Mmmm. They're pretty sporty in flag football.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Pretty good.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
It's great to.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
See all right. Now, coaching changes. I got a coach
from the Super seven headed to Pale City.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Who's that? So?

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Maybe an address on a helmet or something like that.
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, there's you know, it's the old thing, the market.
There's smoke, there's usually fire, and you've got you've got
some stuff coming around. You got some stuff that's that's
being said. I guess we won't know until it's official,
but boy, can we speculate. And you know, if there's

(14:45):
one thing about high school football in Alabama and the
media around it, boy.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Do we love the specultor we love? Time will tell?
Time will tell if moody coach goes to Pale City?
How about that?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yes, that's right, that's right. Well, we had a we
had blunts head coach, uh mutually down there in Mobile.
We've had some you know, some coaching movement already start.
So we'll just have to see how it all plays out.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
I hear some interesting names in Pharaohewel though.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
That's right, that's right, believe he.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Might have just tried out for a pro team. I
don't know. Yeah, four, we just throw them all out there.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
This morning, I was I was talking to that guy
on the sideline.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Yeah, these two coaches that have been Birmingham and are
looking for other job. Maybe just maybe looking for other
job or other people are looking for them. How about that.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Let me tell you this, d Mark, I'm an Indianapolis
Colts fan personally co Indianapolis Cults. That's right, and uh
we have We've been great this year. Daniel Jones goes
down with a believe in a cl test, Anthony Richardson,
our first round pick from a few years ago, is

(16:02):
out with an orbital fracture, and Riley Leonard fair Hope's
own has dealing with a leg injury as well. So
if if Philip Rivers is our best option, then oh boy,
you know, oh boy.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
That's all I Gotn't that be special?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
It would be it would be you know, you you
never say never, but old uncle uncle Phil may be
back in the saddle.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yeah, that's that's unreal, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Absolutely all right.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Buddy, I hope you have a great week. Appreciate what
you've done for us all year. Lad, another super year
of coverage with you, my friend.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Appreciate it absolutely yeah, And I'm excited to cover some
of these coaching changes that we will have early throughout
the off season and I'll see around you man.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
You got let's stay in touch, Mery Christmas. Appreciate you
all right.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Absolutely the
