Speaker 2 (01:13):
One of d Mark Are you man?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I am good? How are you?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I'm doing great?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
All right? You ready for some more football this weekend? Jason?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, No, it's it's wild to think that we're already
a quarter into the college football season, almost halfway into
the regular season of high school football. So it's it's
crazy to think about that, the fact that it's still
just the middle of September. But that's that's where we are.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, you try to you now, I'm gonna guess here,
but you you go to football Friday night. Football game
is a good bit, don't you, Jason?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
When you can, right, Yeah, try to go. This season
has made it tougher because this is already be the
second road game. I got another next week, so it's
made a little bit tougher. But yeah, you know, try
to go to as many as possible. Was that, you know,
alburn up like on the Thursday night, how to get out?
So be I road a little bit already this year,

(02:03):
and hopefully at the back end of this schedule we'll
be able to do more more Friday nights as well.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
There you go to take us to last weekend, Auburn
got the win. Some might have thought it should have
been more. I'm one of those. A win is a win.
Tell me what you thought, Jason.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, no, I've kind of just tried to remind folks
that you know, this is this is a program that's
had to rebuild from the ground up. And I know
people don't like to hear that, but that's the absolute truth,
and that's why you are what you were the last
couple of years. Never apologize for a win, Abe, and

(02:39):
it was here's the thing, it wasn't like you had
to win it. And I heard a couple of people
saying that nail by iter and things like that. That
game was never under two touchdowns, so I've had my
moved to football. But they had three hundred and twenty
something yards and maybe a total offense worked fifteen points,
and so people have I think you snapped your fingers

(03:00):
and people say, well, you need to be the nineteen
eighty five Bears on defense and those those things don't work.
And I promise that George has not apologized for a
win after giving up forty points. And to see last weekended,
South Alabama is a pretty good offensive team Baylor is
a pretty good offensive team. You played some pretty good
teams on the offense, and so you know, and then

(03:22):
and then, you know, I think from an Auvern offensive perspective,
sometimes you go into games you go, that's enough, got
enough to win, no need to do anything else. You
took Eric Singleton out, didn't play, MICHAELM. Simmons, didn't play
you know tomorrow Austin, and so you go, there's some things.
Now can you go execute against Oklahoma? We'll see, But

(03:44):
you know, sometimes you go, look, hey, just win the
football game. Get to the next game. I think that's
what they've done this season for the most part. They
haven't worried about you know what it looks like. And now,
can you go execute enough to win at Oklahoma? And
I'm Promisehip, if you go out there and when you know,
twenty four to twenty three, are you go out there

(04:05):
and win fifty two to fifty one, It doesn't matter
if you get a win.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, I agree with you. Jason Colwell with us Alving
Undercover dot Com live on the handles the sideline, talking football,
y'all couldn't agree with you more. Jason, A win is
a win going on the road in the SEC you
hear about it, it's so hard. Of course, Georgia did
do it at Florida, you know what I mean, And
I mean, excuse me at Tennessee. Although Florida tried it.
LUs you played pretty good to have five turnover so

(04:29):
you can't say that. But they played hard. But it's
hard on the road, isn't it, Jason? What makes it
so hard?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, I mean, you know, crowd, all those things come
into play. I think now the reason why it's so
difficult is because I just don't think there's a ton
of separation between teams. And then that's where home field
advantage plays a big part. You're talking about going on
the road now in this league and you're usually only

(04:57):
going to have you know, eight to ten people in
the stands. I mean, you think about in the nineteen
eighties when Auburn and Georgia and aulvern Alabama played, they
used to give each other fifteen thousand tickets. Yeah, you
used to have a big portion of tickets for those games.
And then when you went to other places you might

(05:18):
have I mean, I mean the Overna Albama when they've
gone to Bandy in the past, you've had half more
than half the stadium pull you've had, you know, the
place like that of Kentucky. You don't have those things
now and so it makes it really difficult. But I
think as much as anything right now is that I think.
I don't think the top says good. It's still good,

(05:38):
but I don't think the top of the league's as
good as it has been. But the bottom of the
league is absolutely better than it's everything. There's no question
in my mind that the depth of this league is
better than it's ever been. That's like I said, I
don't think the tops is good. But the reason why
is because the team's like South Alabama. Because South Alabama
you play those types of teams now and they're older

(06:02):
than you are because you're second teamers, you're red shirt
juniors that haven't played yet but have been depth pieces.
Those types of players now are going to South Alabama
to play. So now your teams are all either really
old or really young. And so I think that's the case.

(06:23):
I mean, look at Auburn and go when you're putting
second you're putting backups. Then they're almost exclusively true freshmen.
You got older guys on the defensive line, so I
think because of that, it makes it more difficult when
you send those kids on the road to gla Plate.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's it, that's what you are, right. What are you
thinking about Oklahoma this weekend? I know you got to
score more points. What's Auburn got to do to win
this game? Jason?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah, I think the first thing is you don't have
to try to do too much. That's that's still the
recipe for me. You don't because I think if you
go back and look at Florida to go, man, if
Florida doesn't turn it over, they're gonna win that.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
They win that game. I agree with you, Yes they played, and.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, don't try to do too much because I think
you're good enough now that you can go compete without
having to be extraordinary. That's what you had to do
the last two years. I don't think you have to
do that now. So for me, the first thing is
don't try to go do too much. Just go play football.
But you can't you know, can't kill yourself mistakes, do
those things. And you look on the other side and

(07:25):
you know, got a dynamic quarterback. I think you have
to try to limit him running the football. He's gonna
throw it, and they're gonna they're gonna throw for some yards.
But if you if you, if you say no, we're
not gonna let you run it, then you've given yourself
a great shot already. So to me, that's the two
things I look at. Don't turn it over, don't try
to do too much, and then you can't let John

(07:47):
Materier be the guy with his legs that makes play man.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Good point. Good point. Some things where you think Alms
got to improve in some areas, Jason, we really need
to get better at.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
What is it? Yeah, I think you get it, and
sooner or later, somebody's gonna go I'm probably this week
going okay, look we're going to make you throw the football.
Auburn hasn't faced those teams yet. They haven't faced the
team that says, look, okay, we respect all these wide receivers,

(08:17):
but they're gonna have to beat us. Teams have been
so scared of the wide receivers that they just haven't
played Auburn straight up, so they've been able to run
the football. Center vat or somebody's gonna go, no, we're
not gonna let you run it. We're gonna make you
throw it. To beat us maybe this week, and so
there's gonna be one of those games where you go, okay,
Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Michael Simmons that you're gonna

(08:39):
have to go win some one on one battles and
it probably starts this week. So that's one other and
then the other side, defensially just have to the secondary
has to play better. They're talented and I don't won't
be surprised if we continue to see more of these
young guys. We've seen ic winners a lot the last
couple of weeks. I think we'll see I think we'll
see more of Vanquon Fagin's moving forward. Uh, those guys

(09:03):
could play. They've got their feet wet a little bit.
I won't be surprised if we see more of those
true freshmen back there on the back end of this defense.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
We're talking with Jason Carwell or inside I mean an
undercover dot com You got anything if you don't know, Yeah,
it's good to see those young guys play. Omar Mapsen
got in the game some last week. Did he did
he get the run? I believe I did.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Yeah, he got some carries last week and he hit
to Maury Austin back and it probably you know, limits
him a little bit, but I don't think it. I
don't think it removes him completely because you're look and
he's he's still gonna be your third guy because you
know you're you're number three running back, uh three l
Robinson dealing with the leg issue after having to have surgery,

(09:45):
and so o, War's gonna be your third guy. So
he's gonna be involved. And I think the one thing
for him is is that he's so big and physical.
Even though he's not six three five nine but two
fifteen or so, he's thick. As he canntinues to learn
more about past protection some of those things, he becomes
a really good option for you in that role. Normally

(10:06):
that's that's an experienced thing, but not necessarily. Cat Like
Williams came into to Auvard and he was the best
pass protector that I can remember, even as a freshman,
because of his want to And so I think Omar's
a guy that can do some of those things as
you move forward. But yeah, Omar's are and again I
think you look at that the true freshman guys not

(10:29):
as many on the offense. But obviously we saw Jared
Smith too. From Thompson last week, a couple of big
pass rush moves. I think we're going to see more
of Number forty one two in some of those pass
rush situations.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Tell me about Jack and All. You think he's getting
better playing better.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Again? I think. I think that the thing I continue
to come back to is is is this patience. He's
been really patient, and this week will test it because
it's gonna be really hard. Oh yeah, to go back
to Oklahoma and not want to throw for four hundred.
But the biggest thing is is just winning the football game.

(11:05):
And and and he's done that. He's made the correct decisions.
He's done those things so far, and I think that's
the key. So continue to make the correct decisions, don't
put the ball in harm's way. And I think if
you do that, if you're Auburn, you're gonna have a
great chance to win the football game. Because to me,
that again I come back to it, this team is
is talented enough to go win games like that. Didn't

(11:28):
have to do too much. Now, would it be great
to throw for three fifty like five touchdowns. That'd probably
help you if you did that, but it probably means
you've had to throw it a bunch too, because they're
scoring on the other side. So yeah, So just I
think for him it's been patience and can you can
you do that on Saturday?

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Can you see a high scoring game A le's going game?

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Well, I thought Tennessee Georgia was going to be. It wasn't,
so I honestly, I just don't know anymore.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
It's weird.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I would I would. I wouldn't expect this one to
get into the thirties clear way because Oklahoma's defense pretty good,
That's what I think. Yeah, and then you look at it.
I mean offensively, they they've moved the football really well,
but they haven't, you know, scored sixty seventy points. And
so I look at this one and going, I would

(12:22):
expect something twenty seven, twenty four or something like that.
I don't know, but I think it's gonna be close
game down the wire, all right.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
