Well with Alvron Undercover dot Com is live on the
Hamilton's Hotline.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Good morning, Jason, Good morning guys, and I'm live standing
outside getting ready for Stephen Pearl press conference.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh yeah, yeah, we got it.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Busy time at nine o'clock, so it'll be rolling here shortly.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
We got a new coach on the planes, don't we Jason.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yes, a new coach. Familiar coach, but a new roll.
So yeah, it'll be a It should be good to
listen to Steven this morning. Obviously, a guy that we've
got to know really well over his time here as
an assistance, so you know, looking forward to seeing the
kind of how the program takes shape for him as
they move forward.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Jason, what do you think about that?
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah? Man, it reminds me a lot, honestly of Fuke
when they when they moved john Shire in, I mean,
was Stephen Jones instead of Stephen Pearl. I don't think
anybody would have blinked an eye and going Hey, look,
you gave it to the guy who's been here with
you for for for this long and has been your
top assistant, and so uh, he's been heavily involved in recruiting,
like he he runs a lot of practices and has
(01:18):
for several years. And so I think it's now it's
just a matter of hate, putting your own stamp on
it and moving forward.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You know what, you did that so good. I needed
to hear something like that. I was. I was, he
kind of did it right.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
If you put a different name on the on his
end of his name, that's where I got hung up
as pearl you had pearl Son.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
But you did a of putting that in perspective. Coach,
you want to say.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Something, Well, we need to clarify something since we got
him on all.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I told Mark, Oh, yeah, I want you to do this.
I had heard that.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Coach Frees got a phone call on the plane home
about the officiating from Sankie.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Is that not?
Speaker 4 (01:53):
That's true, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I don't know when it was, but he did get
a phone call, yes, I don't know if it was
on the plane or if it was Sunday. I don't
know exactly when it was, but yes, he did get
a phone call and tried to I guess tried to
smooth it over a little bit. But I mean there's
you know, there's no smoothing over what we saw Saturday.
But but I think, yes, there was, there were some
(02:16):
attempts to do that, and I think free I think
he had some questions of his own a little bit,
you know, especially on the the deception plague, going hey,
if we run that, you know, am I gonna get
fifteen yards? Or are we gonna get fined? Or what's
the deal is? Because basically, and you know, we started
thinking about it, go and look at it. If the only
penalty you have is a fifteen yard penalty, then I
(02:37):
would try it everything longer and if they hey, they
threw the flag, I'll punt.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I get the first thing, said the same thing, great call.
I agree with the un And we had sentat Tupville
on Monday and Jason he said, now, of course he's
been out of coaching, but I certainly agree.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
I mean, wouldn't think he'd be telling anything wrong.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
But he said, you're supposed to tell the officials and
they come by the locker room for the game. He's
supposed to tell them all that if there's anything.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Apparently Oklahoma said they did that, but but it is
it is they but we were told that this summer.
They used videos in their coaches meetings and said, look,
this play is not legal any longer. Ranted aubun ranted
a couple of years ago. Old miss ranted a couple
of years ago. And they look, look this is not
legal any longer. And so if they told the officials
(03:23):
and they allowed them to run it, then those guys
shouldn't be working.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
No, they should not, I agree, and so like, so.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
You think they'll that crew will set out a good
while did.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
They say that?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah? You know that. The SEC doesn't announce that. The
Big twelve announced one a couple of years ago or
a couple of weeks ago, I think, but the SEC
doesn't announce that. I would be shocked if that crew
is is working somewhere this week at least. It really
surprised me. But they don't announce those things.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
And in the league, I'll tell you something, I'm so ghad.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
I mean, everybody else is accountable. Those guys should be
accountable for what they do too. Yeah, they could, you
know some of it should there should be a statement.
I mean, I know they're not full time employees. They
get paid and so they're grown men. You should have
to say, hey, look we missed it. We messed up,
you know. But but that doesn't happen.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
No, it doesn't. That is that is true? Even mention.
I asked Senator Toubill.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
And he didn't know this. That the acc Let you
get the live look in. I love to heard that
live look in on those plays.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Jason.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, I agree. At least it would give you a
little bit of peek behind the curtain of of the
thought process behind it, and it would eliminate some of
the some of the trouts. But listen, I don't for
a second believe that it's it's something against Auburn. No,
I mean people like to say that, I don't think
those things happen, but you go, do go Look what's
(04:50):
the thought process in that catch roll over fumble being
overturned and allowing a catch on the sidelines where a
guy takes two steps and then the ball gets knocked
out out of bound. I don't under I don't know
how you call one and not the other. That was
the one that kind of even maybe even more so
for me, it was like, those are very similar plays
and one gets overturned, one gets upheld, but it's the
(05:12):
same thought process.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
It's a great cause, it's a great analogy. I don't
mean to say it is a very good point you
made that Sunday. I walked away thinking that was a
good point.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Jason.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
You're right, Jason Colwell with us talking Auby Niversity football,
tough match they lost, give us your thoughts on the
road lost there, We kind of talked about officials. Give
me your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, I honestly I remember back to twenty seventeen and
I lost at Clympson early in the year where they
got sacked a bunch of times, and I felt like
Auburn got demolished. And then Saturday they got sacked a
bunch of times. But I left there thinking thought Auburn
had a better team. Oklaumba was a good team, but
I felt like Auburn was a better team and missed opportunities,
mistakes cost them the game. Now, can you clean those
(05:53):
things up and can you go on the road and
win some games? That's the question. But I felt like
when I left there, I was like I honestly felt like, hey,
they stood toe to toe with a team that was
favored everybody thought heis in candidate, and and Auburn played
them toe to toe and had to lead with seven
minutes left, And so honestly left there thinking, hey, this
(06:13):
is what I thought they were. I thought they were
better and I thought Saturday showed that.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, all right, they got to quickly turn right around,
get ready to go back on the road.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
The Texas A and M the Aggies, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
No, Yeah, the physical team different challenge. I think when
you look at Texas A and M, Oklahoma's defense is
one that shows you a lot of looks. They're gonna
blit and do a bunch of stuff. They're gonna do
a bunch of stuff. But I think text A them
a little bit more straight up physical. They're gonna run
it more than anybody Oliver seen this year. So can
that run defense continue to do what they've done? But yeah,
(06:49):
turn around, quick turn on the road obviously is gonna
be something that's uh, that's a challenge for them as
they get ready to go.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
You think Taxa, A and M is better than Oklahoma?
Didn you say that?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
I think it's different. I think there's a different style team.
I think Oklahoma's defense is better. I think Oklahoma's defense
may be as good as as any Auburn seas this
year they were really good.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
I think A and M is physical, especially on the
offense line of scrimmage. This offense reminds me a little
bit of of of like Georgie and Alabama the last
few years, because you have athletic quarterback, big offensive line,
and big backs. So and Auburn contained the quarterback. That's
probably going to be the difference in this one is
can you contain him and keep him from making plays
(07:29):
with his legs. If you do that, then then then
that would be a good step.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
How you think Auburn and bounced back after the tough
loss coming back on the road, I.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Think that'd be I think that'd be fine. I think
this is a team that that that is hungry and
I think they know they left one on the table Saturday,
and so we talked to the defensive guys and they're
going to look, we had to we had to lead
with seven minutes left. We've got to make that stand
up and we didn't. So I think they got a
little bit of a chip on their.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Shoulder go ahead.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Uh. The tex Say and m crowd will be more
difficult to deal with, and Oklahoma's.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
There's more people. But quite honestly, I've been now since
twenty thirteen, and it is I don't know, it's more
of a almost you feel like you're in a beehive.
It's not loud, it's not just going crazy. They wave
tiles and everybody just kind of goes uh. So it
(08:22):
feels like you're in a bee hive almost, though it's
not buzz for me, it's not. It's loud, but it's
not the crazy, intimidating, going nuts though crowd, and Oklahoma
wasn't either. I didn't think it Okahoma prow was anything
crazy to me. Florida Tennessee are still the two places
that when you go on the road that have the
(08:42):
most impact from a crowd perspective, in my opinion.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
I've been on the field in Even Stadium.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Ray Perkins was coaching it out about how long ago
my brother was talking to me Jason. I couldn't hear
him right next to him. It was insane. It was
sane at an even stadium. So I agree with you.
I don't know how you can get much louder now on.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
That field, don't you say that the teams that play
in the SEC. I mean, you know, they talk about crowds,
and I know Oklahoma's the SEC school, but they've only
been short a short and they talk about going into
these these stadiums. Man, we play in those kind of
stadiums every week.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Different Oklahoma. Oklahoma was there's no sidelines, and so in
between standing on the sideline, literally fans were eight feet
from the bench. I'm talking about the not the back
of the bench like the we're frus standing on the sidelines.
Photographer wise, it was we had six seven feet. That
was it. Though it was very different, very tight, and
(09:35):
so it had a little bit different field felt like
you were in in almost like arena football right times.
And so tex Sta item's wide open. Of the bench
is a little smaller, but the field there's plenty of room,
and so it doesn't they don't feel like the fans
are quite on top of you like they did Saturday.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
I'm about that all right, anything else you want to
go mention before we go, Jason, I know you got
to get in that press.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
That's it. Just getting ready to roll and we'll have
full coverage it alturned under cover of Press Conmerce today
obviously Stephen Pearl Salt's comment, and then kick back into
football mode this afternoon and you're ready to go to UH.
