Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, and Ogle Tree too, fine places to dine, and
it's time now that we go over there and bring
in the offering.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Of day.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
And Jason Carwell is live. Good morning, Jason. How you doing, buddy.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm good about y'all.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
We're good. We're good. Thank you for being with us
as always. You ready for some football?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, A good couple of days obviously.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Uh hold on, let me get that music off, Jason.
I'm sorry, buddy, my bad. There you go, sorry about that.
Go ahead there, you.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Get me A good couple of days obviously, uh before
before Saturday, got the big one Friday night, So looking
forward to that. It it should be a uh, it
should be a wild atmosphere to uh see which one
of those can can get to a SA championship game.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Are you gonna make it over there? Jason?
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah, I'll be there. It's I'm hoping the weather holds
off and got a little bit of a rain chance,
I guess. But looking forward to it and seeing those
two teams, and man, they really improved a lot on
both both of them have, and so looking forward to
watching that game Friday night.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
I know, isn't it pretty cool to have oplaka Auburn
Central all in the semifinals with Thompson. That's pretty supporty,
is't it.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
It is? And you kind of you you know, we've
seen it over the years, how this thing has changed
a little bit that you know, you're mixing up some
of these brackets. It's really you knew it was going
to be this region, in that Birmingham region that was
going to be heavily involved in these things when you
got to the Semis, and hey, thankfully you're able to
(01:45):
have these matchups now where you can have three teams
from the same region in the Semis. I think it's
I think it's good for seven A and it shows
you that you can get the best teams, the best
teams still playing here at the end.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I love that. You're exactly right, very good point there, Jason.
Of course we've got a big weekend and see Champiers
have got a big game today for their championship. The
Net's got a big game. They're going the Net and
Bullet County going going south. So there you go, that's huge,
Bullet County making a history. I love that.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
No, yeah, absolutely awesome. Obviously a difficult challenge with them
going to Saint Michael's and playing playing Gunner Rivers and
obviously Philip Rivers coaching that team. A team will throw
it around some but man, they for to never want
a playoff game and to now be in the third round,
that's pretty it's pretty spectacular.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Yeah, it really is, it really is. They done a
good job. They've done a good job. And of course
Thompson Central over there and ought to be a goodie too,
so good friends. It's it's a unique semi final.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Game, it is. I mean, look at it. Obviously, you know,
Trent ce Bourne's guy that that probably has more big
game experience than any quarterback that's played in this state
in a long time, considering not long he's been playing.
But you know, you know, you know, Bobby Coleman been
playing really well. Cam's younger brother a quarterback in Central,
and that's a talented team. You know, to what should
(03:08):
be two really fun games on Friday night.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
There you go, you're right, let's go to them Tigers.
What's going on with them? Alvin Tigers? Jason?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, yeah, obviously head into this one, and you know,
you look at it and and you know, how much
of Deuce night do we see on Saturday? And you know,
playing a playing a an SCS team in mercer. But
this is probably a better team than about fifty teams
in D one that are Group of five. It's a
really good football team. Now, you know, how how much
(03:38):
do they show, how much do they turn it loose?
As I got, they still got their playoffs to come,
so in the end, you know, winning this game doesn't
impact them a whole lot other than just it would
be huge from a program standpoint. But they can throw
it around. I got true freshman quarterback that's on for
I think five hundred yards and two four hundred yard
games at the last four weeks. He's had those passing games,
(04:01):
so they're gonna throw it a bunch. They got a
guy that that leads the country in sacks and they
have forty sacks on defense, so they want to create
some some havoc on the other side of the ball too.
So this will not not look like a normal STS
game in my opinion, at least early on.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
And you think the different quarterback will play, they'll fit,
they'll fit one.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, ask Natals is not going to play. They'll preserve
his red shirt year. You had one game left to play,
and obviously you look and going kind of what what
do you want to do? Do you want to give
a guy a chance to play another season or or
or play and so I mean, I think it's the
right decision. You give a guy a chance to play
another year, see what he can do. And and now
(04:47):
it means you'll have I think we'll see a whole
lot of de tonight on Saturday, the true freshman. You know,
this to be a great opportunity for him to show
what he can do and you know, see what the
offense kind of looks like with him. I think it'll
be similar to what they did against Vanderbilt. But he's
in it no matter who's in the game. But it
gives see a lot of you know, the short passing game,
(05:07):
take some shots with Cam Coleman, do some of those things,
and and you know, I think, you know, the deep
ball will be in play with him because that's what
he does the best. So I think that's probably the
biggest thing about this one this weekend is kind of
seeing what he looks like in his first real action.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
What have you seen it practice? How does preparation been?
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yeah, it's been good. The know this team has discontinued
to kind of get out there and work. It's really
been fun to watch that they just kind of continue
to grind it out and go. And also we got
to see about an hour or so on Tuesday, so
we've got to see him get out there and get
after a little bit. But you know, we'll see you know,
the obviously a couple of guys, and Marcus Riddick is
(05:49):
out for the rest of the year after having shoulder
surgery then bothering him all this season long. So the
line that linebacker he'll miss. You know, a few guys
a little dinged up. You know, maybe you play them
a little bit and try to get them out of
the game earlier if you can on Saturday. But you know,
I think that the message has still been the same.
(06:09):
They just want to go out and try to win
a football game and get to the next one.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, get ready to play out of them. They still
go to the bowl game.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
They went out right, Jason, Yeah, Yeah, you still got
that on the line obviously, Uh, you know, and and
you know you're still you know, kind of in the
midst of a coaching church here, so to get to
that that has that has obviously everybody's attention this time
is you know what's it looked like, and you know that.
(06:35):
I don't think the timetable has changed. I still think
it's after the Iron Bowl. You know, you like to
have it a couple of days after the Iron Bowl.
I don't know that it's set in stone that will
it's gonna be that Monday, but I think you would
like to get it done fairly quickly to kind of
start getting the staff together and settled in, not necessarily
(06:57):
in my opinion, for the signing day, but more towards
January and that portal period is going to open up.
That's when, you know, trying to keep this current roster,
trying to do all those things, all those things are
really really going to be important in the next month
month and a half.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
There you go, a great time table. Jason Carwell with
us on the Hamilton's Hotline eight thirty six on the
Mark from the orthoped Clintic Studio. What's you got telling you?
What's she info?
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Tannel's Jason, Yeah, you know, I still think it's the
same group of coaches in my opinion, when you start
talking about obviously John summer All is a guy that
that I think is still in the mix. Was you
know kind of had some report Chesch state he's going
to talk to Florida, then all of a sudden, he's
not talking to Florida. You know, He's got Sam in
a position to potentially be in the playoffs if they
(07:43):
were to win a championship in that league. So there's
a lot going on with him. Obviously, DJ dirkin Is
is a name that's involved, obviously the interim coach right now.
I still think he's in the mix. I still think
he got Drink, which is a guy that's in the
mix here, and obviously he's going to be a name
that's going to be involved at other places as well.
(08:04):
I think I think those three guys, and then I know,
you know, there's some talk about Clark Lee and then
extension those kind of things. I still think he's a
guy that could potentially be in the mix as well.
So to me, it's those four guys, and then you
never know, these things can work mysteriously sometimes and you
can have somebody come out of the blues. So I'm
(08:25):
not saying it's definitely going to be one of those
four guys, but that's that's the four guys that I
think it would probably be one of if I had.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
To guess, Okay, all right, and you still looking for
that same time table, what about what about if it's
not dark and heat? Do they try to keep him Jason?
Do you think?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah? I think you know, he's a guy that that
I think will have one more year of a contract.
I think in a perfect world, you would love to
keep the J. Durkin as your defensive coordinator within you
hire if he's not the head coach, keep some of
that consistency on the other side of the ball that
you've had. Uh, And obviously I think that'll be really
(09:03):
beneficial for lots of reasons. So yeah, I think in
a perfect world, if he's not your head coach, then
then if he's still your defensive coordinator, that would be
about his win win as you could get.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, there you go. Okay, all right, basketball? Any any
news from basketball? Tough long?
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yeah, probably the go ahead.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Probably the biggest thing for them was, you know, just
the way they competed last weeks against Houston. I thought
that was was really impressive to go toe to toe
with that team and you still haven't had a full
roster together for a game you have to see and
last night was was you know, Keyshawn Hall was out,
Keshawn Murphy's missed a couple of games. The first game
(09:42):
for true freshman Simon Walker last night, Kisrom hunts full
and comes in and makes five threes in the last
seven or eight minutes of the game, goes five for five,
and all of a sudden, you start going, hey, that
guy can shoot it like that. He's going to really
help you here down the stretches he is, he gets healthy. So,
you know, just a team that's like everybody else. I
(10:04):
think you're still trying to figure out the pieces and
how they fit together. But you know they'll they'll start
to learn a lot more. They go next week to
to Vegas play Oregon, Michigan, and then potentially another really
good team in that group. And you still have Purdue
in Arizona and NC State on the schedule before SEC
(10:25):
play to So this team's gonna get plenty of tests
before they get into the league.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Okay, good deal. Anything else you got for us, Jason
before we go, Buddy.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
That's it. Just kind of looking forward to this weekend
and you know, seeing especially that Friday night showdown, I
think it's gonna be a lot of fun, so much
seeing a lot of folks out there.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Absolutely look forward to seeing you as well. Jason. You
have a great day. Thanks for what you do, buddy. Okay, happy,
Thanks guys here. We won't be here next week, Jason,
so happy, thank you. Okay, thank you Jason,
