Speaker 1 (00:00):
On that hotline. Good morning, coach McDonald was up. Man,
We're good. Hamilton's has two places to serve you on
Magnolia and Ogle Tree, and we appreciate you, coach, what's going.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
On in that, appreciate your having Yeah, man, just another
another early morning, just ready to get after today and
uh yeah, working towards this rivalry week.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
There you go, rivalry week, the Battle of the Als
as I call it. But more importantly coaching. Yeah, you
football team's doing really well, playing some good football, got
you a good win last week.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah man, yeah, absolutely, playing pretty good right now. I
just got to continue building off of each week. Uh,
you know, it's a big week for us, you know,
good enthusiasm around the building, you know, with a rivalry
week up the road. And you know, I thought we
played really well at home for the first time and
getting on the turf, they dedicated to fieldy coach story
and it was just a great night and guys came

(00:55):
out really fired, and you know, we just we didn't
play down the standard and continue to go one to
know each week.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yeah, fifty one to nothing was the final over Barbara County,
coming off of forty one to seven beat over Poka
beat Beautifs thirty seven to seven, only lost the Bullet
County in the season opener. About three. You've given up
fourteen points in three games since then, coach, you've scored gosh,
one hundred and thirty something points of just about in
three games since that first game. You must be hitting

(01:26):
on a all cylinders about right now.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, we're playing pretty good right now, you know. And
you know, I just like the direction that we're heading.
You know, offensively, I think we're we're figuring out our identity,
you know, doing and we're running the football really well.
And we're also uh, you know, continuing to grow in
the passing game, which has been very a really good
bright spot for us. You know, we pr really well
against PoCA and uh last week against Baller County. So

(01:52):
just continue to build off of that and stay good
with our timing. I like how the Lions coming off
their firing. They're also protecting very well.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Know.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
The good thing about it is, uh in those two games,
was only giving up one sack. So that's that's pretty good.
You can't beat that. And then uh, uh defensively, man,
I like how we've been playing since the start, you know,
I think during the summer we can kind of tell
this this group has a potential to be a uh
top defense, especially in two way, but probably you know,
around the state. But you know, I like how we

(02:22):
we're looking up there. We're really good up front right
now and in the front seven in the back end
is continuing to grow. We had eighth grader last week
catch a pick. I mean, it's just been really good
to see these these guys continue to grow and build,
uh every week.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Hey, coach, was that eighth grade or starter? Or is
it somebody that they was just getting.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Eighth grade? Yeah? Yeah, he's a starter, uh PJ Stiggers.
He's a hegab a football player, but he's a better
young man. But he he had a pick towards the
end of the game. His little brother almost had one,
so uh that would have been pretty neat.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Uh yeah, but I was gonna say, doesn't he have
a brother, a younger brother. So and we're talking about
a younger brother of an eighth grader, so we got
a seventh grader too.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, they're both really good. They're great, great yo, man.
They do everything the right way, and you can tell
their mature you know, and and they're really loving football.
So that's been that's been good to see.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
But yeah, he played really well last week for US.
You know, like West Colton play well quarterback and uh
three total touchdowns Bred brought mcquarterback had two. You know
what I mean. It was just really good, Uh, really
good night as far as you know, getting guys in
there and getting reps and and continuing to build.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
That's what you want. Give me some names, you've said,
if you give me some names. Has been playing really
well for you coaching played Friday.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah, yeah, all year, all year. Man. I really think
that that defensive front has been really really good for us.
You know, like with Jeremiah mcgilberry. You know he's an
ALBUMA and M commit right now, and you know he's
played really good football. He's got almost I think he's
got seven facts right now. So and brother in Chambers junior, Uh,
Trey Jackson a junior up front, Uh, Nashan Fans and

(04:11):
TJ Brooks and t J. Tucker linebacker have been really
really good for us as a good like pre main group.
You know, the Dad's Morgan and Samar Patterson, they're outside linebackers,
they're they're singers you know, they've all played really well
and uh, those guys have played a lot of football
in their career, even even those juniors, you know, and

(04:31):
and it's just good to see those guys finally, you know,
coming around and being dominant like we knew they could. Uh,
you know, in the back end on defense, I think uh,
Terrell Staples, Lorenzo Truett, Rial Ty Ziegler, a lot of
a lot of older guys in there. You know, those
are all singers right there in the back end. They're
playing really good football.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
R J.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Tucker also runs the ball for us. You know, all
those guys on defense have been really good on the
offense side of the ball. Man, I think our other
lines playing really well right now. Uh, you know, you know,
big one is you know for us is we've got
to just continue to grow there. That group has been
playing together for now going almost on three years. Uh,

(05:11):
and like Jalen Hill and Mishaan Sam and TJ. Tj
Uh I'm sorry, Trey Jackson and Baylyn Chambers and Cam
Johnson have played really well. So I just want to
shout some of them guys out.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah, that's good.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
R J.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
McDonald was the Panthers rolling right.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Was it? Did you say was the name of the
s and what about that?

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, PJ Stiggers.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Making sure we didn't have three brothers on the team.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
I know, no he so, yeah, I think they're related,
but uh, PJ is uh his dad played here right
when coach Story got here that first year and uh.
And he's a hackable football player. Man, he's got a
potentially be really good. He's he's probably even better running
back than he is a safe so and you know,

(06:01):
honestly in the back end and safety you've got to
be really locked in and he's doing really good back there.
But he's playing with a guy who's played a lot
of football. So that's been really good to watch that
that senior, you know, who has a play the next
level continue to help him build and grow. And that's
been really good. You see it every day in practice.
You know we'll be uh, you know, we'll be an
individual work or something. You could tell he's teaching him

(06:24):
just as much as the coaches, you know, like coach
Web Goes Cardon or coach coach Williams. So that's that's
been really good to see.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Web. I ain't seen him and I talked to him
he needs to.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Come to the coaching show.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Tell him, man, I'm gonna get in there. I'm gonna
get in there. You know. He's, uh, he's little busy
on Wednesday nights, but you know, I'm i'm'll have it there,
I'll have it.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Miss him, so he always comes. Yeah, coaches, and what
you need to work on?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
What?

Speaker 1 (06:51):
What? What we got to get better at?

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah? Man, I think we really just got to get
better and uh, continuing to be consider you know, that's
something that I think that we could definitely get better at.
Uh And I know everybody says that, but like honestly,
for us, it's just lining up and doing the same
thing over and over and over and not getting lax
of basical you know, when they're getting negative two yards

(07:15):
or yard or uh, you know, an incomplete pass, don't
be sitting back on that on that third down and
give up one that you shouldn't give up, you know,
Like I think other other than that, you know, defensively,
I think that would be it. You know, Offensively, I
think we just we got to be consistent with, you know,
protecting the football, like I feel like we're doing. We're

(07:37):
definitely continuing to get better at that. Uh, but but
continue to protect the football and making sure that we
are always you know, making sure that ball is is
protected and we have it.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
So Yeah, kicking game doing well, coach.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, man really growing. I want to I meant to
shout this out.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
That's what we're here for.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Man, I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you right now,
man Or. We have a kicker and he is he
has done a name exceptional job. Man Heavy val Buena.
Uh say one more time, valve Buena. Yeah Heavy now
he is he is. Man. He had some big shoes
to field. We had a kid last year who was

(08:18):
an all state kicker, uh you know, seven for seven
long of forty four and Heaver stepped in man and
had break and honestly he's uh, I mean he's one
for one for like a long of thirty eight.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
He's had like numerous touchbacks. He puts. He could put
it anywhere we tell him to put it. Uh, big
soccer kid. You know, he's played soccer's whole time here,
has never been the one to play football. But uh,
when we talked him into it, big kid, he's about
six two sixty three and uh, big leg, like really

(08:51):
really big leg and uh, it wouldn't shock me if
some of these schools started calling to see, uh, you know,
maybe about him coming to kick kick on the next level.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
What year is cold?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
He's a singer. He's just kind of never really been
interested in football this yeah, yeah, first year. But he's
played soccer for US, and we knew how good of
a soccer player he was, and you know, but we
had you know, we didn't have an all state kicker
and stuff like that, so it was just you know, Tim,
and Tim has been good for us. So you know,

(09:21):
we've been blessed he to have a lot of really
good kickers and you know, starting back even when I
got here. So that's been something we're very pleased about
and how his progression has been and he comes every
day ready to work just as hard as the other
guys who were very Yeah West car.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
This morning, many, Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Well have you ever tried it?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
If you have, I will say this, we have tried
it with him. But but the uh back to the
court or our one A one B quarterback West Cardon
he punts for US and West as a big leg
I'm talking about a massive way. But the good thing is.
I will say this win had the punt much.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, yeah, that's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
And you kicked use his hands before.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yeah, you're right, you got to.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Have somebody to catch it.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I mean, you got to playing soccer. We into soccer.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Coach, here you go, hey, hey, and but I'll say this,
you know about about a punter, Wes. Wes is done
a good job stepping in. You know, we had a
kid coming back that was an all Area, all region kid,
and Shamar Patterson. He was averaged about forty one forty
yards of punt and West has come in and taking
that and ran with it, and we're very pleased with that.

(10:44):
Uh he's I think he's sitting somewhere around forty three
or forty four yards of punt. So that's that's been
really good. He hasn't punted much, but you know that's
that's also a good thing too.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
So what about Lenette, Coach, I mean, coach, tell me
about la fet come into town.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yeah, yeah, you know, Coach Williams does a great jobs.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
By the way, I mean to stay coming to town.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
So let me go. Yeah I didn't I didn't even
recognize it. But yeah, now we're we're heading up there though,
you know, it's always a hostile deal rivalry.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
The kids know each other extremely well and they you know,
they all hang out.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
For us, though, it's it's just going up there and
not looking at it and making it bigger than what
it really is, and just kind of staying locked in
in the moment. Uh. I think for us, it's, like
I said, man, just being consistent. You know, we played
really well all up to this point, and we just
got to stay consistent with what we've been doing and
believe in it. And I think if we come out

(11:43):
with a great energy on Friday night and jump on it,
I think I think we'll be We'll be in a
good spot and come towards the end of the game,
I think it's gonna be a really good football game.
And I hope the crowds and both fan bases come
out and supporting these young men that are gonna be
on the football field Friday night.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Well, there you go, I do too, Coach. They certainly
need to do that, all right, Anything else you want
to bring up before we go, Coach, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Man, just really pleased with you know, kind of how
we're how we're playing right now in the junior high level.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Okay, I didn't even ask last night.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Yeah, yeah, I had another land last night. We're kind
of rolling right now. We've got a pretty good group though.
They've been really good, especially through Wreck the last few years,
and so you kind of tell that, uh, they're kind
of firing on all cylinders too. So another big win
by those guys last night, and just kind of really
proud to see that direction of that that program, but
that team head on and I think for for us,

(12:37):
it's gonna be continued to see that, uh, see those
guys grow and play good deal.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
A J McDonald, It's always a pleasure to talk to you,
my friend. Thank you for your time. We look forward
to seeing the night at mods.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Okay, yep, all right, we'll do d Mark.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yes, sir, you got it.
