Speaker 4 (01:30):
This, by the way, great job. I know you were
you kind of put it to one of your assistants, right.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
Oh, my amazing team did an amazing job at the
camp conversations with your candidates last night or last Tuesday,
and I think, I mean the last I looked on
Facebook because we did live stream it. There were over
seven thousand people that had watched it online.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
So we had several we had about yeah, we had about.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Two hundred or so in person, and then about one
hundred and forty like logged in online live and you know,
over seven thousand.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I've watched it since.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
So very grateful to my amazing team at the OPLAGA Chamber.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
I was not involved.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
I literally stood right at the entrance. I stood by
the ward maps and helped people figure out what war
they voted in, and just you know, enjoyed myself and
got to be a bystander and an observer in the
audience with everybody.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Got a husband run.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, yeah, it was great.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
So I just it was lovely to see our twenty
hundred forty class there, our young young professionals. There are
so many people from the community came out and you
could tell they were very engaged and interested in learning
about their candidates. Because election day is Tuesday, August twenty sixth,
it is a week from tomorrow. We are in single
digits and polls will be open across Ople Laika from
seven am to seven am, so we want to encourage
(02:45):
everybody to get out and vote. And and I think
early voting slash absentee voting is now through Thursday at
city Hall if they want to go in and see
Russell Jones to get that taken care of.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
If you want to mail in your absentee ballot request,
it's got to be in there about tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
I know we had several hundred Steff listening.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
So yeah, absolutely, it.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Was a it was a bunch. All right, I'll see
a big schedule this week.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yes, busy, busy week.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Breakfast, some ribbon cuttings, connect with coffee. I'll let you
line it up.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
Yeah, yeah, Well, of course, we had an amazing food
truck Friday Friday night, So I just want to point
out that for folks that maybe haven't been in a while,
we had live music.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
There was a concert downtown.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Now that the Bottling Plant event center is owned by
the same owners of Whistle Stop, they are opening up
the Bottling Plant on Friday night so you can go
up to the balcony and enjoy a view. You can
enjoy the ac while enjoying your food truck Friday meals.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
So it was just it was a great crowd on
Friday night.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
And our next one, we'll actually have two in September,
September third, and I think September seventeenth, so looking far ahead,
just mark those on your calendar because food truck Fridays
just really it hits its prime in early fall when
we're just having a having a great time with live
music and delicious food.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Than tonight, thank you, right, oh, thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
Yeah, and then let's see this week though we are
excited for tomorrow. Our Business Over Breakfast event is focused
on meeting the leaders of Opelaca City Schools. As as
you all know, we have a new superintendent. We also
have a new athletic director, so doctor Davis Craig Montel
our athletic director. And then we'll also be including although
(04:22):
she is not new, Kelly Fisher, our principal for Opela
like a high school and Brian Moore are ol like
high school football coach who is still semi knew, so
all four of them will be kind of speaking to
the group on tomorrow. It starts at seven thirty, it
will end by nine am, and it is located at
the Opaka Chamber. The cost is thirty dollars for Chamber
members and forty dollars for non chamber members and they
(04:42):
do need to get registered today, but it will include breakfast.
So if you are interested and want to explore and
be a part of Business Over Breakfast tomorrow and know
all about all things Opla like a city schools, now
is the time.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Good good deal there, nice nice little deal.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, that's right. And then we're looking ahead to Thursday.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
We have a ribbon cutting at four p for Cloud
Hopper and this will be located in the Opelika Chamber
at two hundred and Soel sixth Street. And then on Friday, Friday,
the fourth Friday of the month is always a busy
Friday for us, so we start our mornings at eight
am with Connect over Coffee. Connect over Coffee is literally
just the most low pressure but fun event that people
(05:21):
can come to they can tell a little bit about
their business. Last time we had a recent college grad
who was just trying to find a job who came
and so it was just a really great opportunity.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
To get in front of people that yeah, I'm trusting you.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
You come, you show that spot wee you're going to
help you get a job. So but Connect over Coffee
is at eight am on Friday. Also, just to point out,
like there were fifty three or fifty seven people at
the last one, so like it's truly like you each
have about thirty seconds to a minute to give your
pitch to everybody, and it's just a great opportunity to
(05:53):
meet everybody in one fell swoop. Directly following Connect over Coffee,
we have our new Member Orientation that starts at nine
thirty and that's for anybody who has come on board
as an open like a chamber member, but hasn't quite
dug into their benefits or started taking advantage of.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Those, and then that does require registration. And then because
we're just gonna.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Go bam bam bam on Friday, August twenty second, ten
am Key Studio and Wellness ribbon cutting ceremony, and this
is a joint ribbon cutting, I believe with the Auburn
Chamber in the OPL like a chamber and they are.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Key Studios is located.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
On Sam Glenn Avenue in Auburn, and so they're right
there kind of near Church of the Highlands, the High School,
that new gas station that got built right off of Glenn.
So I have been going to this studio about once
a week for the last month or so.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
And so it's kind of a blend of.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Like pilates and yoga and strength training. But the kicker
is that you are in ninety five degree infra red
heat while doing it, and so it is like it's
so hot it adds this level of intensity and like
they do on Sunday evenings they do a restore yoga
(07:02):
class that is it's hot, but it's also very low impact,
and so really you're kind of detoxing yourself.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
So it's really great.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
You just sweat it all out and now you don't
want to see me right after I go to it,
because I am red and blotchy for a couple of hours.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Actually, But and I mean, the amount of sweat is
quite gross.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
But it is a great workout, and I'm just very impressed.
It's this young lady named Ali who.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Started this studio from scratch. This isn't a franchise or
anything like that. She just said I've got this idea,
I'm going to start it.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
And it's very very impressive, and she's got a great
studio teachers. So I'm very excited for Friday's ten am
ribbon cutting and yeah, so we're looking forward to that.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
It ought to be interesting. Even going for a little bit.
I have.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
I've probably tried four or five classes and really enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I did. They do a really cool like two week
trial where.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
You can have like unlimited number of classes to try
over the course of two weeks for forty nine dollars,
And so I tried that and was able to kind
of see what I liked or what I didn't like.
Because you know, it's it's add some strength training and
muscle building in there that I don't necessarily do on
as often during pilates, and so it's a nice combo
(08:19):
and infrared.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
He Thank you, Ali, I appreciate what you do.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Thank you, Ali,
