of you know, we've gotten a little bit flexible, but
it is a long long standing traditional role.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, what's going on with oak Like a Chamber of Commerce,
Miss Sally, Well, you know this.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
We really just have a couple events coming up this
week on Thursday. Of course you were just talking about
how football is that kicks off on Thursday this week,
So that's a busy day people. People have lots of choices,
lots of options. Of course, we expect a lot for
a lot of our citizens to be enjoying our Opaeaca
versus Auburn game, but if that's not what they plan
(02:35):
to do, we do have the Pistage Business after hours
on Thursday night from five to seven, and that is
a joint initiative for both the ople like a Chamber
and the Auburn Chamber. And Pissage is a They are
a really incredible renovation company here located in downtown Opelaika
and so they are their office is going to be
(02:56):
hosting a big tailgate party from five to seven on
thursdayday night. And then simultaneously, our open like a Young
Professionals is doing a Tigertown sports takeover from five to seven.
So for members of Young Professionals who are interested making
no play some goofy golf and do some other fun
things that happen at Tigertown Sports from five to seven
on Thursday as well.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Okay, that sounds good. Tigertown Sports has a lot going on.
There's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It does.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
It does. And of course you know this week is uh,
we're kicking off the week even earlier. This Tuesday is
election day. So we just want to encourage and remind
everybody to get out to the polls. If if they
missed our canvas, our conversations with our candidates, they can
check us out on Facebook at Opahaka Chamber and go
give it a watch. You can go watch it later
now even though it happened a couple of weeks ago.
(03:44):
And and then of course head to the polls. Polls
are open from seven to seven all day on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
That sounds good there from seven to seven, I do believe.
There you go, so it's right, yeah, is there anything
happening at the chamber real special that we got to
look over to. I know, we got some trips and
some other things as you go.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
So we are of course currently currently booking trips to
Switzerland for April of twenty twenty sixth in New York
City and Christmas or December of twenty twenty five. But
I do want to raise everybody's attention to we're going
to have two Fouture Friday Days happening in September, So
the first Friday and the third Friday will be happening,
So that's September fifth and September nineteenth. But we are
(04:27):
also really excited about looking looking ahead to Monday, September
fifteenth is our annual Valor Public Safety Award, and so
leading up to Valor Public Safety Awards, the nine to
eleven Never Forget Memorial is going to be in Opelika.
This is a really incredible, powerful and moving nine to
(04:47):
eleven tribute exhibit that is traveling and for the first
time it's ever going to be in the state of Alabama.
It's actually happening on nine to eleven, and so that's
the Tunnels to Towers nine to eleven Never Never Forget
Mobile exhibit and they'll be parked out at Southern Union
from the eleventh through the sixteenth. Well, while they're here,
they're also we're going to have a lot of incredible
(05:09):
nine to eleven survivors and rescuers who are going to
be speaking at the Valor Public Safety Awards, which will
be hosted on Monday to fifteenth, and so we are
currently selling tickets. I would say we maybe have enough
room for forty to fifty people to get registered if
they want to attend, because this is an event that
is free for all of our first responders and their families,
(05:30):
and so thanks to our incredible sponsors who make that happen,
we don't charge them. So we also just don't have
a lot of room for the general publics that want
to come to be a part of it. But we
do pass out Firefighter of the Year, Ems of the Year,
police Officer of the Year, Dispatcher the Year, lots and
lots of awards to the people who help make our
(05:51):
community great every day and keep us safe. And then
we'll also be hearing from those nine to eleven. Never
forget traveling survivors that are going to come and be
a part of our event as well.
