Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, they hop like a bulldogs of dogs. One up
game Friday night against Jag about said Percy Jillian blew
them out at homecoming on the campus at open like
a high school. And we're going to Hamilton's hotline with
two locations to serve you. There's a Hamilton's on Ogle
Tree and the Hamilton's on Magnelia. Brian Moore as the
head coach, and he's with us.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Good morning, coach, more, Good morning de Mark. How are
you guys?
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Man? I'm good. They give me fits about my giants
and then there's just no sense in that. We talk
in high school football now, right, Coach.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I was trying to save you, de Mark.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
He did. Coach, Well, you got you another win, coach,
So congrats on that win last Friday night.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Well, we appreciate it. We uh, you know, played better obviously,
we know that, you know, the level of competition, although
I think JAG has improved, uh, and they're doing a
good job there. You know, it's not what we played
the week before, for sure, But but I thought we
handled our park. You know, that's kind of what you're
hunting for. I told our players, you know, games where
(01:01):
you know you feel like you have the advantage, you know,
games like homecoming whatever. You know, you got to focus
on yourselves and and uh, you know we I thought
we took a step forward. We were cleaner, you know,
little things like we were eight of eight on point
after attempts. I mean, you know, we had three different
kickers kick played a you know, pretty much every kid
on our roster. We're able to play twenty to twenty
(01:23):
five snaps with our with our JV guys in the
second half, like some of our starters didn't play any,
like Reese Basy didn't kick any after half. Uh so
I thought that was really good. We had a couple
of things like a two minute you know drill at
the end of the first half. We're able to score
really the last play of the half. So little things
like that. You know, we're able to see Fuller Young
(01:43):
and Wick Cooper in the game. And so it was
good for Wit to get his first real varsity action.
He was eight of nine and with three touchdowns, so
he had a really good night. And it was good
to get our running backs. Four of our running backs
got in the end zone, so that was good to see.
And once again, just kids that hadn't been able to play.
(02:04):
It was really good to kind of reward those guys,
you know, especially something like seniors that aren't playing a
ton and don't play JV. You know, that was their
first action the other night.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
So that was good.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
And again we we just played better and played cleaner overall.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Yeah, some takeaways that you got out of it, Brown,
I mean.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Coach, yeah, I mean I think you know, yeah, you
know some more. Really defensively, you know, we didn't tackle great.
So that's something that we're going to address this morning.
We've got uh morning practice and and uh so we've
we've got to we've got to handle our business there.
We got to tackle better. We you know, we we
(02:41):
we didn't play with the effort that we played with
against Auburn. Defensively, you know, again, you know, after three
pretty emotional games our kids again we played. We played
a lot better offensively. Defensive we played okay, we just
didn't tackle as good as we normally do. And of
course JAG has something to do with that. Those guys
in space, you know, are you They're gonna spread you
out and be empty all the time and snap into
(03:03):
a quarterback. They can really run, and so we didn't
do a very good job of containing him in the pocket.
We didn't do a very good job of closing the
pocket down in front of him and gave him some
running lanes, so that was a little bit frustrating. We
were better on third down. We were not good on
third down against Auburn, and that was kind of the
difference I thought in the game is some big third
down conversions for them. We didn't get off the fields
specifically on a third and long, as I mentioned, I
(03:26):
thought our special things was really good. We blocked a punt.
The kid that blocked his scooped and scored it. They
caught him out at the one, but he was in
the end zone. It was frustrating up to, you know,
reward that kid with a touchdown. But so so a
lot of good stuff. I thought our sideline was better,
you know, do more. I'm looking for little things like
you know, getting the signals in quicker. I'm looking for
(03:48):
personnel groupings. We had to use a couple of timeouts
in the aubur game because of some personnel stuff, and
so I thought that was better. Something that we really
worked on last week. I thought we ran on and
off the field better. And urgency, which is what we
talked about. And then our our our starting group offensively
with six of six uh on on drives for touchdowns.
(04:08):
So again some some good takeaways. You know, the the
Smiths is probably a little better this week, and we
will have to play better on the road and so
uh different different style of play this week, and so
we'll have to work the under center veer stuff and
the wing tea stuff that we've not seen. So that's
gonna be a major challenge. They've got some backs that
can go. So again we need another good week.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Okay, Brian Moore with as so Black of Football coach
Dogs have a win Friday night on the season. They
got Smiths Station coming up. Coach Witt Cooper, he obviously
played well for you eight of nine a cup two
or three touchdowns that I know that's a.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Bright spot for you. It is, you know, with a
with another week without Kolbe, you know we we uh
it's good to see, you know, it's good to see
with and Fuller, you know, Fuller a second start. You know,
had some some bright moments as well. Uh, good to
see with getting there and take some of those r
p o s and you know, do a really good job.
(05:02):
He threw a couple of faith balls that were really
good too into the end zone.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
And like I said, he was the one that operated
the two minute drive before half where we were ready
to kick a field go if we needed to. It
was really our last offensive snap. He throws to Cam
Rayley on the back line. Good to see Cam. You know,
couldn't ask you know, couldn't find a better kid and
family than Cam's. And you know, great to see him
getting the end zone. I know he was really excited.
I got to see him Saturday as well, and so
(05:27):
he was pretty pumped by his touchdown reception. So, uh,
spread them all around too. I think I think we
had nine different receivers catch it, like six or seven
different running backs take care of he So again, that's
a that's something that can help you morale a little bit,
especially in the middle of the season like this. Who
all kick for you?
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Coach?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
So Ree Reese was the first one, obviously, he was
five or five h point acts and then uh cloud
our our our young kicker, tenth grader. He kicked two
of the pats and then Ashton Smith kicked the other one. Uh.
We again changed snappers. Asher rut snap. Of course, Cam
Raley are starting snapper. We and Fuller held so again
(06:06):
getting a lot of work with our specialists, you know,
even punning. We rotated some guys through there, so again,
you know, good good night for our whole program. And
and you know, and really Jag honestly, Dan Mark didn't
sub at the end of the game. So our young
guys were still playing varsity players, which was good for
(06:27):
them too. You know, I said a lot of our
young dvs and stuff. The speed of the game is
just so different, you know than a JV game, And
so we missed some tackles and and didn't do some
things as good as we had hoped. But you know,
that's a great learning experience for a young guys. You know,
you can't fly in there and dive on the ground
and not wrap people up. And so you know, tackling
an eighteen year old is very different than tackling a
(06:47):
fifteen year old. So you know, those guys are are
learning how much pastor they have to play. So again,
great experience for them.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
I heard you after the game, coach, I was coming in.
I heard you applaud their coach for not running the clock.
That was good. That you got to play some kids
in the second half, didn't you.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Absolutely, and we took care of them. You know, we're
not gonna you know, know that, you know, run the
score up and that sort of thing. But I was
I appreciate him, and you know a lot of times
when it's like that, thirty five nothing a halftime, you
get a running clock in the second half. But the
problem with that is that, like you said, nobody played,
nobody you play, you play twenty four straight minutes of
(07:23):
running clock, and you know, we're able to get two
possessions maybe out of that. And so it was really good.
And I think it was good for their kids too,
because they kept playing and Poison's success. They scored twice
on our younger group and so that was good I
think for their morale as well. So again I appreciate
him doing that. He's doing a good job, and you
(07:44):
know that they are. They looked better and we're more organized.
They had no turnovers in the game, which was frustrating.
You know, usually you get to take away or two,
you know, and we didn't do that, and so we've
got to be better there. But again I plawed coach
for what he's doing there.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Good deal, coach Im, I'll let you go. We fish
be in the hard break. We'll look forward to talking
to you Friday. We've got Smith's station coming now. We're
going to Smith's station.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
Right, yes, sir, going there.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
All right, buddy, Well you have a great week.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Family doing okay, everybody's good.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Just just about to drop off to school and get
the practice, all right.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Buddy, Thank you, coach, appreciate you and congratulations on that win.
All right, buddy, thanks, yes, sir, go do
