Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yes, since I introduced the last coach as Brian Moore
and it was Buster Daniel, I should introduced this guy
as Buster Daniel. The head coach of the like a
bulldog's I got it right this time is Brian Moore
and his team plays at home tonight against the Dothan Wolves.
I've called him. In fact, I referred to him as
the Tigers in my article in the paper. But anyway,

(00:20):
Coach Moore is live on the Hamilton's lot line. Hamilton's
on Magnolia and Ogle Tree, two restaurants great places to dine.
Good morning, coach more, Hello you there, I got you,
I got you.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Good morning, good morning. How are you all? Man?

Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm good. I messed up. I called Buster you all
to go? That was not good. He'll get you for
that one now, he said, I'd better be called you
than anybody else. So there you go. How's everything this morning, coach?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Uh? We're good. You need a team meeting this morning
like normal? And uh you know glad we're at home
again in and not not traveling that two hour trip
to Dothan for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Oh, I know you are. You need to know anything
about Jim Nastis We got it. Going on in here.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Now I heard the back end of that. That's impressive, right.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Oh yeah, this coach Grave is our bud. Now he's
got it going on over at Auburn kind of like
you got it going over top like a coach. Tell
me about the night's game day Dothans.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah, you know, you know, people that have seen them
for the past several years, very unique in what they do.
They're always really talented. When they combine those schools, we
all know that that created a big, a big school
with a lot of good athletes and in the Dothan areas.
So you know, Coach Kennedy and I have kind of
become friends over the last couple of years, and uh,

(01:42):
very very unique again scheme wise, what they do with
their their offense, it's it's, uh, you know guys that
kind of keep up with football, that really rooted with
you know a Popka Florida and then came to Enterprise
with coach Darlington and then coach Kennedy's taking it from
Enterprise to Dothan. So it's unique. You know. Last year

(02:04):
for me was was a learning experience as far as
how to defend it, how to you know, how to
put a scout team together to to replicate it for
our kids, and and but it was it was a
great learning experience, and I think this year it's nice
to have a little bit of prior knowledge to build on.
But again, the speed of it, you know, the way
that you have to fit at your keys, there's there's

(02:26):
so much eye candy and moving parts that you have
to be really disciplined with your eyes. And they'll kind
of rocky to sleep with the run and throw the
ball over your head.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
A lot of gadget trick plays and things that they do,
and they execute them really well. So you know, they
went down to enterprise, uh Dothan did and scored sixty
nine points. They scored on all ten possessions and just
I mean, I've never seen anything quite like that. And
so you know, again we're gonna have to play really well.
We're gonna have to be extremely disciplined. And then you know,

(02:58):
we can't have three and out and give them the
ball right back and put our offense back on the field,
so our defense back on the field, excuse me. So
you know it'll it'll be it'll be a challenge for us,
but our kids are excited about it.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Man. They opened the season with is it Chiles Laurder
I think forty two seventeen win all right, beat Monroe
thirty seven, thirty four out of Georgia, beat Enterprise sixty
nine twenty eight, and then lost a couple of twenty
eight fifty six, twenty eight to fifty games to Central
and Carver, two very good football teams. So they've had
a tough two games back to back, they have.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
I mean, the Central game got away from them pretty quickly. Uh,
but but the Carver game, really that you know, that
was not the story. It was a one possession game
going into the to the fourth quarter, and you know,
so that was uh, you know, I get a little
bit misleading. The Central game, though, was Central's really good
and they're really good on offense, and it was certainly

(03:52):
an offensive night for them. But again, Dozens got a
good football team, their playoff team, you know, and and
they can beat anybody on any given night. And again
you always worry about the sort of the new officers
of their offense and how you defend that and how
you fit it, and uh and not only that, you
know they're gonna get in our face defensively too, you know,
we're gonna have to We're gonna have some one on

(04:13):
ones and we've got to be able to win those.
And you know, I fully anticipate with Cooper can do
that and uh, our receivers can win some of those
like we did last year. But uh, you know, if
you don't, they're gonna have nine in the box and
come get you every play and try to defend the run.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, yeah, I understand that. Brian Moore with a so
fl like a Bulldog football coach posting Dothan tonight at
Bulldog Stadium in a huge region game. Uh, your team coach,
A good week of work.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
It's been a good week. Uh, you know, I think
I think it's you know, when you get down to
these last four, you know, you kind of are who
you are. You know, your pieces of kind of falling
into place. We're still beat up in some areas you
know that we'll have to deal with and but again
we've kind of lived that. That's been our life. You know,
this this the first six games. We have not had
the same roster in any game this year, and so

(05:01):
it's been a challenge. But you know, for us, it's
again the silver lining as we've built some depth and
some guys have played and and we're excited about you know,
continuing to see the development. But it has been a
good week and uh, you know, I think our kids
are excited. They obviously know each each week, these next
four you know, have a huge impact on your playoff
berth and uh, you know, for us that's our goal

(05:23):
is to get there and then and then make a
playoff run. So it obviously starts tonight.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Maeh, what was it going to do for a flick to
win the game? I know, score more points your keys
to the game coach.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Yeah, I mean I think we're gonna have to have
explosives on offense. You know, it's been it's been a
lot of tough offense this year, you know, a year
that we thought we'd be, you know, be able to
throw them all a little bit better than we have. Again,
that's been you know, we've played three different quarterbacks with
meaningful snaps, so that's part of it. Our offensive line
has been a sort of a musical chairs deal. So uh, again,

(05:54):
last week was our best. I thought we played well
in in Spurts, really really good in Spurts against a
really good Pipe road team. H Top five six EIGHTEAM.
So I thought we played well in spurts, but you know,
we're gonna have to have explosive and defensively, we're gonna
have to have, you know, an edge. I mean when
you when you defend power you know forty times in

(06:14):
a game, you know you got to continue to come
down there with the wheel to fight and you know,
continue to spill blocks and be really physical and violent.
And if you're not, you know, again, they'll never throw
the ball. They'll line up and run it over and
over and over and make you like it. So again.
You know our kids are ready for that. But I
think it's all about our toughness and edge and continue
to get after them defensively.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Especially you mentioned with Cooper playing quarterback, any other any
other people that will be out, coach that won't play
you want to mention?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean Lukeidrick, our Mike linebacker's
still out. You know, we're getting a little bit closer
to his possibility of return. He had surgery four weeks ago,
and so on that risk. Lukudrick is a difference maker
on our football team. He's he was really our best defense,
the player along with Tremaine Thomas and to not have

(07:03):
him since the second and third play of the Auburn
game has been has been a difference maker, you know
for us. But we've seen Trey Stone step up and
oh yeah other pieces, yeah, really step up and play.
So you know, again it's like I said, we've got
several guys that will be game time decisions.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
You know, Jeremy Dillard, our left guard, will be the same. Uh,
he's coming back off of a fracture, and so he
was cleared last week. But again, you know, when you're
when you're you know, kind of coming back into the rotation,
you know, it's hard to just jump right back in there.
We'll see how he's play and how he's feeling and
has to kind of monitor him during the game. But again,
it's nothing news tonight, but we've got some guys that

(07:41):
that will be game time decisions for sure.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Tell me twenty six, coach, he played really good in
a couple of games. Who was that number twenty six?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, Xavier Thomas. He's a junior. So you know, this
is a junior heavy football team that we have. We're
we're excited about our future. A lot of our juniors
are playing now, you know, so we're we're encouraged by that.
But Xavier has been a difference maker. I think he's
blocked seven kicks.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
That's what that joker is tough on special teams, coach,
I'm just telling you he's he's good.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
And really, you know, I thought Pyke Grove for the
first time, really did a good job of sort of
knowing where he was move him. Our our coaches know where.
You know that our coaches can move and change the block,
both Punt and Phil Gold during the game. So we
moved him all over the place, and so other guys
are gonna have to you know, we had some guys
come free because of him, and so we're so we're

(08:32):
gonna have to do a really good job of, you know,
other guys kind of stepping up because they're gonna double him.
But Xavier is an elite. He's an elite player both
on the back end in the secondary and also as
far as special teams. So he's had a great year.
You're right, he's one to He's a number to keep
an eye on, for sure.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
I'm glad I brought him up. I saw him play.
I guess it was I don't know if it was
Auburn or hood was. He got after it early in
the year on special teas and I've just started watching
it and like he just gets after the coach.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
He's a very quiet kid and just goes about his business.
But you're right, d Markham, and he's he's one that
has impacted games and really started last year. He played
on kickoff last year and then had some packages defensively
as a sophomore and now as a full time starter,
and he's our rot back there at that guy that
you know long term and it's it's Tremaine Thomas's brother,

(09:21):
so that that's a really good player. They're brothers and shoot, man,
we we love the Thomases. That o plaka for sure.
That incredible years.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Oh good, I'm sorry, did know it was his brother
brought him up too, But I just sometimes kids out
I'll recognize and go that one right there is showing
out right special teams coast who's got kind of line
them up for me?

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, So you know Reese has been has had an
elite year. I mean as far as especially kickoff, lots
of touchbacks, kicking the ball to the back of the end.
Oh yes, Reess was a difference maker. You know, been
really pleased with the development of our pat field goal.
You know, early in the year we had some issues,
but those have been you know settled, and guys are
really doing a good job. So you know, with Cooper's

(10:03):
the holder, Cam Rayley's a snapper with you know, tonight,
we need a big game from Andre Van our punt
returner we had in the callaway game, specifically he had
he had a few big returns that gave us plus
territory possessions. And so Andre needs to have a big
night tonight. And then c J. Johnson, our kickoff returner,
has had a big year too. He's had several big returns. Again.

(10:25):
Another one, uh last Friday that was a you know,
we had a holding call, but it was a huge
return up to midfield. Those things are game changers, and
so we're gonna need those guys to continue. But I
like our special teams. You know, Coach Fergus has done
a great job with them, and uh, Tucker Brown coming
in to help us with our return game and Ty
Steele with our coverage. Our coaches that kind of team

(10:46):
up to make that happen. So again, it's been a
it's been a development year as far as some youth.
But I really feel like we're, you know, taking the
next step to having a great year there, and it
needs to be something that we can hang our hat on,
and we need to win that phase each night.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
There you go, I agree with you, all right. We
got dothing and home and then two straight trips on
the road, so we need a big crowd, two more
home games, four playoffs and Carver's all of them.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know, last week, demark in the in the beginning
of the Pike road game, they they're driving, they had
a couple of positive plays and they get close to it.
They get right in front of our student section in
our band. Oh yeah, and they had they had four
false starts in a row and it made it first
and thirty. And I just need our fans to understand

(11:32):
how important they are. We're gonna need them tonight. This
is gonna be a good football game that you know.
We need an Auburn like crowd. We need a Ben
Russell like crowd. We were that thing was packed out early.
The weather's gonna be perfect. We're getting a little bit
cooler air, and you know, it's still like football out
there now and so you know, we just we've got
to make sure we do a great job of uh
you know, of supporting our kids and all our people

(11:55):
always do that and we're so thankful. Uh Like I say,
every week, our kids can feel that, they can feel
the internet.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Oh yeah, you can feel it down there.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
No doubt, and and you know it. They they use it,
you know, to play hard and play better and you know,
find that little bit of energy maybe they didn't know
they had because people, you know, they're playing for something
bigger than themselves. And so we appreciate our crowd and
need them there early tonight cheering us song.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
All right, coach, thank you, all right, buddy, I hope
you have a good night tonight. Good luck to you.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Okay, thank you, Mark, and go Dogs.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Go Dogs. That's coach like a coach. Brian Moore with
us on the Mark Big home game tonight on the campus.
