Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
I appreciate everything you gotta do for us. Man at
code what Coach Buster said, you gotta do a great
job man covering us, covering our small school down there
in Lochapok, Alabama. Y'all do a magnificent job always inviting
us stuff, and we're grateful. We're thankful to be here,
grateful and thankful for you guys, you know, to always

(00:20):
be able to cover us and ask us questions and
stuff and do a great job of reporting on us.
And I just want to say, I appreciate everything you
gotta do for us and our organization.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I just always like to thank the people.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
As far as how I got here, Doctor Howard, superintendent
does a magnificent job with Lee Counting schools, as well
as our principal administration, Ableweed and Missing Ms Barry Appleween
has a great vision of education and sports and he
does a great job and giving us an opportunity to
be the best that we can. We have everything that

(00:53):
we need and they're always there for us.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
As far as.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Quick recap of last season, we started off kind of slow.
We had some unforeseen circumstances early on in the season,
so we started off one and four, then we hit
the reset button and we came off and ripped off
four in a row, end up being number two in
the region, had a home playoff game, ended up dropping
out from fourteen to seven to Arrington. It was a

(01:18):
tough football team. But this year, we have a bunch
of guys because we've been in the building for a
toll over like a year now, and they've understand of
what we're asking for and what we're looking for, and
they bought into that. Our guys are bought in to
everything that we asked them to do. So since we've
been there for a while now and able to go

(01:39):
through a full off season, everybody knows what to expect
from one another, coaching staff as well as the players.
So I think this year, after losing about thirteen seniors
last year and we'll only have six seniors this year,
we'll be a We'll be a younger team, but we'll
be a more experienced team, if you understand what I'm saying.
We'll be younger as far as age wise, will be
more experience of playing and going together as a team.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
We do have a bunch of coaches on staff, and
I'm grateful for that.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I'm not gonna see her name all of them, because
I don't want to forget any of them, and I
love him to death, but I don't have anything on
paper here. But we haven't total fifteen coaches, man and
a two way school.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Fifteen coaches. I mean that's that's pretty good. Now. They
work hard every day.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Uh, they get after these guys every day, and I'm
grateful for them, and I'm grateful.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I'm grateful for that. But I'm not long win the
type guy. I don't think. So.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
If you guys want to ask questions, I'm down to
answer you anything you gotta ask for me. After I
introduced my players real quick, I know they got to
come back and introduce themself again.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
But I'm gonna tell you who they are all right here.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
We have Donelle Buster plays old line and D line forces,
been starting for three years.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
He's gonna be a senior this year. He's a dog.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Up front. We have a mitchestereer lean tackle. Had one
hundred and thirty four tackles last year. In the middle,
he'll be a senior this year. He's been a three
year starter.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
And on the.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Outside we have Cam White. He's a he's a junior
upcoming year.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Uh. He started every game.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
For US last year at the left tack of position,
played defensive.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
End for us. And he's a he's a pretty, he's
a he's a dog as well.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Well, I got a good, good group of guys here, man.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
They lead their team in the right direction and and
that they're great leaders for us. And they take kettle
locker room, so I don't have to take care of him,
and that that's what we want. We want to play
a lead football team, and these guys are the staple
of that.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
The floor is open, yes, sir.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
So over the off season, how do you think your
team has improved?

Speaker 2 (03:33):
That's a great question, you know, man, somebody talked to
you real well, Now, I think we've improved a lot
as far as like being a unit, you know, being
a team. We've done a lot of team building things
to get everybody on the same page.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
And they've done a great job of just becoming more
of a team that we're looking for, like as one heartbeat,
and I think we've got a lot better, a lot
better at that at that area, as well as our
speed as well as our training as well as getting stronger.
The biggest thing I've seen us do the best. The
off seasons become one great question.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yo, man hey, Brandon.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Obviously E leaves Pee at quarterback from last year, so
he's gonna step in for him.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
And what can we expect to see from the listen
new starter? Oh yeah, yeah, miss Pete Man.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Pete was a he of a heck of a kid man,
heck of a quarterback all times being quarterback in Lotropopa
football history. So that's a big loss for us. But
we have kJ Carter coming in, who's a dual threat guy.
You know, he can run the ball and pass it.
He started for us the Lynette game last year. He
got hurt that game, and he played a lot against
Lee Scott last year in the first quarter all the

(04:40):
way through the end of the game, so he had
some experience a little bit of experience at the quarterback
position for us before he got hurt.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
But he's gonna be ready to roll. Goat you. Uh,
you got the big boys up here.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
What can we expect from the returning skill as far
as running backs and receivers.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, we have skilled guys coming back. Callaways are outside receiver. Uh,
we have We'll have him back. We have some running
backs coming in. Jayden Mapson, who who's playing running back
for US last year, well he didn't play last year,
but he's coming in from the spring.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
He was a baseball and basketball player for US, but
he'll be playing for running back. kJ will be playing
some quarterback. So we have We have some skilled guys
that's been working hard and you can inspect a lot
for them. But like I tell you, guys all the time,
the game is worn in the trenches. So that's why
I bring these guys up here. Because if you can't block,
if you can't tackle, if you can't skate blocks, if
you can't put people on their back or defeat blocks,

(05:39):
you won't you won't be going anywhere. That's why seven
on seven to me, I kind of get tired of
doing seven on seven because these guys get so up
beat on how we're doing In seven on seven. I said,
don't worry about that. We're gonna win the game in
the trenches with the guys up front.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Head coach, what is the thing that you're most excited
about and looking forward to this season with this new
group of young men.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
I'm just excited to see them grow, you know, develop,
see how they have developed over the over the years.
This will be my second year with these guys, so
it'll be like my second senior class, but it'll be
my first year having them for a whole year. And
I just I already I've already seen how have they've
grown from last year into now, and I expect them
to grow a little bit some more before we get

(06:22):
out of here. And I'm just excited for them. You know,
their goals are big. My goals are big. I just
want to see them be able to accomplish their goals
and we can do the best they can.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Hey, coach Tyler Redmond WRBL. You guys won four games
late in the regular season last year to push into
the playoffs. What was the change there that you saw
in your team that maybe there's a shift that you
guys turned the season around.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Well, we started after we went one and four set,
everybody down had a big team meeting and I told
them to I said, we're gonna hit the reset button.
So if anybody asks you what our record is, you
tell them was zero and zero And and then we
started and our goal was to get one percent better
every day at every point in time. So after we
won that first game and somebody asking him what their

(07:10):
record was, they said, we want to know, although we
was two and four, like we want to know. Then
the next day they said, well we want to know
this week, but we're two and overall. So once we
get that reset button, we just started to click, started
to get it going, you know, and the guys just
started working hard together and it was a it was
a good time for us.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Hey, coach, I was actually at that playoff game against
Ryton and it came down to that fourth down play.
So I know it was over six months ago, but
what did you see there and did that change your
approach to fourth down situations?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, uh, we just we just we just didn't convert,
you know, So I want I want.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
To change anything about it.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
You know, our guys were just anything that comes up,
and I think we have a chance to go get it,
a chance to stop it, We're gonna do it. We
just got to do a better job of executing and
crunch time. And I think we've been working on that
in the off season. Putting them in hard situations, put
them in position where you think they will fail, and
try to make them overcome adversity.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
That's been our go from from from last year on
here to here?

Speaker 6 (08:12):
Coach, can we have players come up?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yes, sir, excuse yourself, tell us who you are so
i'd like for each one.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
A we talked about after a first round playoff loss
last year, what are your goals this year and how
has that played out during the summer.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
My name is Daniel Buster.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I played a line of d Lion Floyd Poker, and
like you said about the playoff game last year, we
were really trying to just use that as motivation every
single week and you know, just grow every single week
and get one percent better.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
That's our quote. That's it.

Speaker 7 (08:59):
Hello money is Mitchell Sneer. I play in Salnebaer. After
that loss, we took that personal. That was our motivation
going into the new year to look back on and
to improve, to let that know that, to let that
sink in that that's never gonna happen again, and we're
gonna make it farther in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Like, my name is Cam White, and can you repeat
that question again?

Speaker 6 (09:30):
After a first round lost last year? How did that
motivate you to practice harder during the summer and what
have you done to accomplish something to be greater, and
what are your goals.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
For this year?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
It may be like go harder and everything I do
and try to get one better and like every category
like something and like it, making it like we're trying
to build up to get better, Like we're trying to
inspire our other seen inmates to like look at that
loss as like a statement, so like get better, like

(10:06):
like get over the first round hump,
