week's game, didn't we with all no fla because he
was on Friday, wasn't it you you came home, so.

We talked about that dog's got a rebound, like coach said,
he's got a lot of players out.

Still, Yeah, you know, I don't know who's out.

I know his quarterback now, A couple of wide receivers
are running back.

He named a few of them this morning.

Yeah. I mean I think obviously the linebacker who got
her this week. Yeah, you know, because that was pretty significant.
You know, I'm assuming he's out, but yeah, but still, yeah,
I think I think open I will be okay, you know,
what's good opportunity that because you know, I don't know
if the quarterback is gonna be out for an extended
period of time. But it's a good opportunity for for

is it full Er Young, Yes, yes, yes, right, who
started last week and and you know played You could
tell he was nervous in the first half, played really
you know, a lot better in the second half. So
you know, let's be good for Opelikah to get him
some experience and got a couple of games this week
and next week that you know, I don't think they're

expecting him to go out and win the game, but
you know, if he can go out and manage things,
I think Opalaca will be okay. You know, their defense,
as always is going to keep them in every ball game.
The speed and athleticism Oblaca can put out there on
the defensive side of the ball. You know they're they're
gonna they're gonna shut opponents down. You know, they held
very good offense Auburn team to seventeen points. So I

just I think it's a good opportunity for for him
to get some reps because you know, we don't know
again how long Kobe's gonna be out, and hopefully they
can keep building on it. But I expect you know,
big atmosphere n homecoming at Bulldogs Stadium. I expect, hope
I could go out and take care of business.

Yeah, I do too. I do too.

I think it's a game to get back on the
winning track, get to feel good, you know what I mean,
and try to get something because I'm not putting anybody
down with Jags had a tough time before. They've played
up like and oh like it has played some good teams.
You know, they are eight points from being either undefeated
or zero and three.

I did not realize that to the opla.

I mean, if you look in the I think they've
been outscored on the year by one point.

Yeah, that's that's unbelievable.

They're sitting there there two and one so and again
just last week, you know, with the backup quarterback, just
a couple of miscues on offense. Where the difference in
the ballroom. And that's the way it is at every level.
You getting those one score games. It's just one play
here or there that can make a difference. So you're
right there. You know, they're one play in each ball

game away from and oh and three, and they're one
play in each ball being three and oh so, but
being battle tested like that, and and and winning close
games is what you're gonna need in the playoffs, because
you know you don't blow you know, you may blow
a team out in the first round of the playoffs,
but after that, it's a dogfight every week.

You are right now tell you I'm gonna tell you something.

I watched Enterprise play Pike in in Montgomery Pike or
a Pipe Road. That was a They didn't they were
behind ten, nothing, came back and went and I've seen
I don't know, I don't know about that game. I mean,
obviously I think Alburn's a better team Enterprise as young players,
but I just I don't have a feel for that game.
After watching Auburn and Enterprise, I just I think it's
gonna be close. Probably have not.

I have not seen Enterprise, you know, just have seen scores.
Kind of surprised by what happened last week. But we'll
find out a lot about doping tonight.

Good point.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
They played Central. Yeah, you know, Auburn is a very
good football team, but they definitely, you know, they were
not the Auburn you're accustomed to sing at least not
last week. You know, penalties and I'm I'm not talking
about effort penalties I'm talking about mental penalties, a lot
of false starts, some holdings. Special teams were not as

sounds as you expect from Auburn. Missed a couple of
fumbled to kick off and so definitely not the special
teams you used to see. And again, a little bit
lacking with some of the discipline and and I think
their offensive line is still trying to find its way.
I think it's young. I think they were replacing a
lot of guys, and I definitely think I think Auburn

being at home gives them the advantage. I would expect
Auburn to win the game. And because I know coach
Eridge and that coaching staff, they're they're very good at
what they do, and they're going to clean up, you know,
they'll clean up the penalties and some of the mistakes
and they'll be ready to play tonight for what I
expect to be a jam packed house. You know over
it's over at Doug Sandford. It's called it saying I

I felt like you were about to say something different,
but I got you out. Yeah, they had thirteen penalties
in that game. You're right, there were I think five
pre snap you know, penalties. I think four holding penalties,
So you were right about that.

They played uncharacteristic, you know, and some.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Of that too, is a product of you know, speedy
speed on Opalaka's defense, you know, some of those offensive
linemen trying to get a quick start, you know, trying
to time it just right so they can get out there.
And also, you know, don't you don't want to give
them the holding penalties. You don't want to get beat
and give up a sack, so you maybe get a
little your hands, get a little outside and grab a hold.

But again, totally early in the season. Still I would
expect Auburn to get those things all.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
C Yeah, maybe a can win.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
At least Scott's got a huge game to go undefeated here,
sty remain undefeated with a very important yeah, at Beulah.
At Beulah in an important area game, region game. This
is important for both teams.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Oh, absolutely, every area game is important. But uh, you know,
Beulah doesn't want to start out owing too, you know,
Lee Scott definitely wants to start out to and oh,
you know, beating a Bullah team that was in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
That's what I'm talking about exactly.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yeah, you know, Lea Scott playing really well. They just
kind of kind of reloaded. I know they lost quite
a bit of production off of last year's team, but
it seems like they've been able to plug in some
holes nicely and doing a good job. And uh, you know,
some experience on that coaching staff, you know, with coach
Daniel and coach Wade and coach Speakman, they're gonna be

ready to play. And again, the things that kind of
plugged them a little bit last year were some turnovers.
I think they've eliminated that this year. I haven't heard
that they've had some of the turnover issues that they
had last year. So, you know, and again, last year
was a learning year for him first year and the
Alabama High Squad leg Association and they did really well, missed,

you know, just missed making the playoffs. And this year,
I you know, I expect him to take that next
step and to be in the playoffs out of that region.
But they got to get a big win tonight.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, you're right about that. They have played well, and
you're right, running backs have played well.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
They their quarterback Hamner Hammer has played extremely well. Whitley
had two touchdowns passes last week. For touchdowns and then
they had I forget Josh what was his name, Jeff
Player of the week came with us Lee Kristin Heaey.
I'm sorry, I don't know these guys name all of them.
But he had a great game too. I went to
the first half of that. They just they did what
you're supposed to do when you got it, when you're

better than the team Tory. They disposed of them in
the first half and just took care of business.

Take care of business, and then let your younger kids
play in the second they do.

We got a big night at Lynnette. I know you
got a little history there, clifferent Story. Junior's name gonna
be on that field. What a great honor for coach Story.
I know you you know that program.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Well, Terry yep, and and well deserved. You know, a
program with a with a long and storied history. But
you know, never a state championship. Well, I guess they
won one back in the yeah, and then it was never,
you know, not again until until coach Story got there.
They had some teams get close under uh you know,
Coach Hamilton and Coach Sykes had some really good teams

but couldn't get over the hump. Tory got him over
the hump a couple of times, and he did well deserved.
He's done a lot for that school. You know. Uh,
they've upgraded, you know, and been through some some adversity,
you know, with the fire and and all that, but
they've done some some nice things with their facility. You know,
for two a school, they've got some pretty nice facilities.

They do to You.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Got to give that city credit for buying into their program,
you know.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, And it's a It's the reason the city buys
into is that it's a big source of pride in
the community, you know, Lynette, the community really backs that
program and got some second and you know when I
was there, they had second generation. They'd be be now
to some third generation players. There's something to be said
for that with and so very proud of coach Store,

very well deserved, you know, not just a great football coach,
but a great man and a great father and has
done a tremendous job. So well deserved. And yeah, so
now it'll be a Clifford story field at Morgan Washburn Stadium.

I like that too, you I like when they honor
people like that I know you can't honor everybody, but
you know, well, it's.

I don't mind a logo on there for money, but
call the field a name. It's like Frank Torbert Court.

Woody Court, you know, basketball court, So Frank Torbert Court
over in Auburn.

So yeah, I like that stuff too.

I those people can get their feelings of it, but
you know, sometimes you just got to do what you
gotta do.

You know, you do, I mean, and you know, and
in terms of the game, I would expect that to
be a case where like we just talked about, I
think Whenette will come out, put it away early and
then some young kids play. I think when that's got
a got a very good team this year from from
what I've read and what a little bit I've seen,
and you know them in real town, could be a
tremendous matchup that I expecting that to go out tonight

and take care of business.

Yeah I do too.

I know another program that that I'm just really proud
for our Dialing Griggs at Russell County Boy, he has
done a tremendous job turning that program around.

He finished nine and.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Three last year. Here he is three and oh, got
a chance to go four and oh. They played Percy
Julie and he's doing really well.

Speaker 4 (10:21):

Yeah, they're having a having a great start to the season.
You know, I would expect them to be four and
o after tonight. I think that's uh. You know, for
people who don't know about Russell County, you know it's
it's a county school in every sense of the word.
I mean, it is a lot of not a lot
of houses right around the school. So those kids, you know,

to buy into the summer workouts and have to you know,
get up there some of them.

You know.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
I know when coach Hamilton, who's a good friend of mine,
was up there, they would run a bus and I
know the kids up there in the morning, then they'd
feed them and they home in the afternoon. So it's
a tremendous job that he's done, and I mean makes
you really respect more of the job he's done when
you know the circumstances you have to deal with and
what he's had to do to get kids out to

get him to buy in. You know, it's a program
with not a lot of success in their history, and
he's really been able to get some buy in and
do a lot of good things. So yeah, they're they're
playing really well. And like I said, I would imagine
they go for an owner.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I love how you said it because with all the
circumstances he's got, I mean, he could have easily folded up,
and he has steady stayed with that program. Jef not talk,
but he gets the same thing at mos every Wednesday.
You know, he's one of those I see, coach, don't change,
You're doing good. You know he gets that same food.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
All right, let's se is anybody you want to talk
about Terry. I'm just going through a list. Here is
anybody you want to bring up about you?

Speaker 3 (11:44):
I mean, you know you've covered all the big ones obviously,
Chambers every.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Wedey, I was going there, Chambers and Banks. Yep, go
ahead when.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
They you know when Chambers in the hunt for another
state title and yep, you know their only loss is
the last two years. I think both the schools out
of Mississippi. So they're they're on defeated in Alabama, I
believe the last two years. And coach Allen does a
tremendous job, and he just keeps finding players, get a

kid hurt, just buying someone else and plug him in.
And I looked for them to keep rolling.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Now Trinity doctor Dooley's son. I'm sorry, I can't think
of his name. He had a heck of a game.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Was it last week or the week before when he
threw all the touchdown passes? Terry Am I right on that.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
I think it was last week last week? Yeah, I
think this son.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Now you can put me on the you know what
they may have played? Was it Cornerstone they played last week?

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Mark, I think it was. I'm looking up the store.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yeah, well go ahead, Yeah, yeah, they played Springwood week
one and then Cornerstone week two. Yeah. I believe it's
William is the That's what I was the oldest. Yeah,
I think William is the one who's playing quarterback at Trinity,
and I think through five touchdown passes last week and
had a tremendous game, and they got a big one tonight.
They'll go up up to eighty a little ways to

We got a blank. We had a blank on who
they played. I couldn't say I got it. Okay, you
got it, Okay, they're playing you.

So for all you Trinity fans, I'm sure you know,
be very careful when you enter Harpersville. Make sure ye're
oh God, go about that.

They go from what's set sixty five to forty and.

Boo one time and they'll sit there and wait for you.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I forgot that's where they were going, but I just
thought i'd bring that's really good. I am really pleased
with the eight man the way eight man has kind
of gained momentum, Terry. I think that's good for these
schools that are able to play this eight man football.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
I mean, it allows them to continue that football because
if it one for eight man. You know, now Trinity
obviously didn't have eleven man before, so this is new.
But I mean you have some you know, spring Wood
and some other schools that for so long. You know,
Springwood won some state titles and had a lot of
success in eleven man, but just due to dwindling enrollment,
they had to drop to eight man. So it gives,

(13:54):
you know, continues to allow these schools to aft the
opportunity to play football. And if you've never been to
an eight man game, it's a lot of fun. It's competitive,
it's it's it's high scoring. You know, you generally are
gonna have a lot as you would expect it because
you know, you got a little more spread out. The
field is smaller, but you can spread things out a
little bit more on offense, and it's more of an

it's kind of like arena football but in.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Outside. Yeah, good Caah with a bigger field.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, it tends to be higher scoring, a lot more offense.
But yeah, Trinity, although they're owing to, they've really been
for their first two games ever have played really well
and been respectable. And so they will, Like I said,
they'll play Couse Valley tonight. Who knows, maybe get.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I like their coach.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
He's a nice guy, seems to have a really good
mentality of what he's trying to do, and I like that.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
So for what it's worth, you know what I mean?

So all right, t you we got some college football.
Is the Iris going to take care of A and
M this weekend?

Speaker 3 (14:51):
I don't know. I mean, you know, they we'll see.
We I didn't. We didn't learn a lot about them
because they didn't play real well well the first week.
You know, I think the quarterback played well. He'll be
making his second start, his first home start. You know,
but we just you just don't know. I don't know
how good Miami is. Miami goes eleven and one is

an CC championship game, then good game. If they go
four and eight and missed, don't make a bowl game,
and then it was a back.

You didn't know. You know what I mean with Alabama?

Yeah, I agree for Alabama. That is that a bad loss.
It is a Florida State goes six and six state
goes you know, eleven and one. Then no, it's a
tough loss on the road to a very good team.
So that's the problem right now, early in the year,
trying to project all the you know, everyone thought l
s U's victory over Clemson looks so good. I know

now it did look good, but now a little lusters
off it after watching Clemson really struggle with with Troy
last week. And I think Clemson, Clemson make it beat.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
They got they got Georgia, Georgia, they're good.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Took took Georgia last year to what eight. Yeah, quarterback
is quarterback was not healthy last year. He's healthy now,
So you know, that's what I'm looking at. In my
for entertainment purposes, only my decisions yet. But so yeah,
they you know, after a great opening week last week
was kind of you know, you had the Oklahoma you

had the Oklahoma Michigan game, which was kind of the
big game of the day. Of course, South Florida playing
really well. Wow, that knocked off someone else in the
Country's knocked off two ranked teams and uh now they'll
go to Miami this week. That's what a start to
the season for them to play those three. But back
to your question, you know, I think Notre Dame at
home can win, but they're gonna have to play a

lot better. Their offensive line is gonna have to be
better than what it was at Miami. Now, whether that
was a product of Miami, you know, went out and
got some help in the portal and their defensive line
was pretty good, or that maybe Notre Dame's offensive line
isn't that good. We'll have to see tomorrow.

Am I crazy to think Water will play less good?

I know you're talking to a guy who's seen Brian
Kelly lay some eggs and you're so right, you know,
but you know, they didn't look particularly good last week.
I know, I know, I know they beat I think
one of the Directional schools, but it was like twenty
eight to seven or something like twenty seven seven, I

believe something like that. Now the game's at l s U.

Right, yes, yes, it's in de Yeah.

Yeah, you know. And but again there's something to be said.
Florida now is a team that's desperate because you know,
he tomorrow he might be out that that that seat's
really hot already people calling for Urban Meyer. Oh and
so now I think Florida will play them tough.

But L s U.

I you know, I haven't looked at the schedule. If
it's a night game at L s U, you.

Think it is.

Yeah, you're thinking I didn't see that.

They may keep it close, but I don't. I don't
think they can pull the upset.

Yeah they just did.

You know? They had a CHAMPI against South Florida, but
a stupid penalty. I don't know if you saw it,
young man from Florida spit in the guy's face. Yeah,
I drive to the game.

Yeah, I heard about it.

Terry.

I couldn't believe it was actually true. I'm like, that
guy's got to go.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Well, he got ejected and and I think it was
like after a third down play and it gave him
a first down and they went down, and so you know,
I can't do stuff like that. So but again, you know,
it was a good team. Florida lost too, So I
think it'll be a good game.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
But I think LSU will come out Alabama take care
of Wisconsin. Would that be a good game. I think
it's gonna be a good game. But a lot of
people don't.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
You know. I think it'll be a good game. I
think I don't know, you know, I know Wisconsin's quarterback
got hurt in Week one. I don't know that if
I don't know if he's back. I didn't pay enough
attention to it. But I would expect, you know, it's
a little bit warmer down here than in Madison, good point.
I think the heat, you know, with Alabama's depth, I
think they can wear Wisconsin down. I think it'll be close,

but I do think Alabama wins.

Okay, all right, And then we talked about Miami in
South Florida, Texas A and m L s U Tennessee, Georgia,
any other game that was the three biggies that we
that I wanted to highlight a.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
Lot of people calling for Tennessee to upset Georgia.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
But oh, that's the other game. I meant, that's the
game I meant to ask you about.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Yeah, until I see it, I can't believe I've heard
this for the last several years that Tennessee was finally
going to get off. Yeah, you're right, the slide against Georgia,
and I think I don't even think they've been close, but.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
I think, don't you think that if they could do it, it
would be this year?

Speaker 1 (19:40):
Yeah? At home.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
No, I don't know. Like I said, he's trying to
see it. I'm not willing to bet money off.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Yeah, well, Wisconsin's they played Middle Tennessee State Ohio they
had Yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
You know what, I'm proud of Alabama schedule. Nothing meant
Florida State, Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
That's better than I mean, I know, that's.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
That's two four. Yeah, the states probably gonna be in
the hunt for the ACC title. I like that. So,
so that's great. You know the the there's a couple
of sec under the radar games, you know, South Carolina
and Vandy.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, that interesting.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
They have a common opponent in Virginia Tech and and
Vandy handled them a lot easier than South Carolina did, so,
you know, so that I think that game could be interesting.
A lot of people looking at Arkansas as a seven
point underdog against Old Miss. Old Miss is not overly impressive.
Quarterback has made some mistakes and and struggled. They definitely

don't have the firepower they had with Dart and the
offense they had last year. You know. But Arkansas, you know,
Old Miss has an SEC game under their belt already,
having beat Kentucky last week. Arkansas, you know, has played
you know, a couple of tomato cans. So's gonna be
interested see how that game comes up. But I know

that's one if you listen to all the pundits, that's
one that a lot of them have Old Miss on
upset alert.

Everything's good. Just kind of a busy Friday morning, trying
trying to wind up the week. So it's that busy
time of year.
