Speaker 1 (00:02):
Well, thank you all very much. We surely appreciate being
invited to this event, especially as the first year program. Uh,
we don't have the uh, the luxury of talking about
what we did last year, so all we can do
is talk about, you know, what we're we're working on
going forward.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
And I just wanted to say so much, how much
I appreciate the support of our the Trinity Christian School
and the Trinity family just for taking this big leap
to get this program started. We actually at our practice yesterday,
we talked about the fact that this is going to.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Be a year first.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
You know, we're gonna have someone that's going to score
the first touchdown for the Trinity program. We would have
someone that's gonna make the first sack, you know, the
first touchdown pass. So there's a lot of things to
look forward to. There's a lot of excitement. Obviously we
we had We're going to be working on fundamentals. You know,
we we are still in a lot of position battles. Uh,
(01:05):
so uh, we're uh going to be working toward uh
learning the game, learning the really focusing a lot on fundamentals,
being a fundamentally sound team.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
UH.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
That's one of the things that and and and as
we teach the game, also uh representing our school well
and also just continuing to folk focus on character development.
And uh, I think we've got a really good group
of boys, uh, but just continuing to make them, give
them opportunities two uh to learn leadership and to be
(01:43):
productive uh, you know, members of family and society as
they move forward. So right here beside me, I have
Nate Riddle, I have Anderson England and Josh Riddle. If
you didn't notice the real brothers, Uh they're they're twins.
(02:05):
So uh, these guys, they're they're all seniors. We've got
a good group of seniors.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
We've only have four of our players that have played
football before, so uh we've got a lot to learn.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
We've got a lot of athletes.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Almost every one of them played soccer and basketball pretty
much their whole uh high school tenure.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Football is a different game, as you guys know. Uh,
and it's gonna take a really really measured uh and
dedication from them to be able to be successful this year.
We were we're going to be playing some teams that
have got a whole lot more experience than us. But
(02:46):
you know, we're gonna what we're talking about is winning
each each play each game. Uh, just just taking that
elephant one bite at the time. So with that, UH,
be happy answer any questions you have about Trinity.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
All Right, we got one up here because just I
guess how long has the program been in the making.
I mean with Trinity, when did y'all first decide to
launch football? And I mean did AI say sponsoring aight
Man make that more possible or just kind of what's
the timeline?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, I know Coach Gardner could speak a lot more
to this, but in the probably late December, I think
is probably sometime in the in uh, in the winner,
we the decision was made by the school board that
we wanted to go ahead and start the program. So
we did have an abbreviated spring. But you know, there's
(03:46):
there's a lot to do to to, uh to establish
a program, and we're just you know, getting pads for
the first time, you know, making sure that we have
adequate facilities to be able to to practice and go forward.
So H but I guess the more answer your question,
it's been a long time in coming. We we've been
talking about this a while, uh, and you know, I
(04:08):
think it just took uh, you know, the time being
right for us to finally pull the plug and say,
you know this, we're going to go ahead and start this.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Hey coach, I know you talked about the fundamentals and
learning those, but have you.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Looked at competition yet, like to your schedule. Oh yes,
yes we have.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
And not the charity thing to d but we are
looking for the coaching staff and have a great coaching
staff for us to such a.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Small program and a new program.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
We have a lot of experience in our assistant coaches.
We've been looking for everything available on our upcoming opponents
to try to see how best we can prepare and
you know what we can do to possibly have success
against some of these more mature programs.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Hey coach, just to be a two part question. The
first thing, what's been the most difficult aspect of getting
this program off the ground? Second part, what is the
thing you're most excited about for this upcoming season looking
at your roster?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
H As far as getting the program off the ground,
I mean that's.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
That.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
That's Uh, there's so many things that happen have to happen,
uh quickly. I think if we didn't have such a
mature supporting group, uh, you know, from from the school.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Uh. I think that would have made it much harder. UH.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Coach Gardner has pretty much been uh everything as far
as getting uniforms ordered, uh from being able to you know,
uh secure facilities for us to work out, and we
had some great partners that gave us opportunities to be
(06:03):
able to have places to work out. So but as
far as you know, I don't know that I can
really balance how which one was.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
The hardest part of this.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I think probably though, just getting families that are not
familiar with football able to buy in and to see
that this is something that is going to be a
great positive for the school and the school body, and
that we want to be able to represent ourselves very
well as athletes to the rest of the school. I
(06:38):
think that the second part of that question what we're
looking for most excited about going forward. You know, even
though we're young, a new program, and there's you know,
we are going to be playing some schools that have
had been around a while, they're their programs. I think
that we absolutely can have success. We're talking about this
(06:59):
right now. I think that our goal is going to
be to make the playoffs, you know, and and brout Uh, you.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Know, why not us? Why not?
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Why can't we as a first year program shock shock
the area, you know, and and have great success.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
So we're we're we're looking forward to that. We're being
very excited about this opportunity. Coach.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Is your home stadium going to be more stadium?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Is that correct? It is? Okay?
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Is that where you're practicing as well? Or do you
all have a location of practice.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
No, we actually are practicing at the school.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Okay, So we have Trinity's had a very mature soccer
program for many years and we're sharing that that field.
So it's that that's working out really well for us.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
All right, if we can, let's get the players up
here real quick. Just kind of tell us your name
again and your position, and if you've got some football experience,
tell us where you got your experience, where you played before,
and any kind of what your expectations coming into this season.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Hey, everybody, I'm Anderson England. I'm playing a little bit
of quarterback, corner and safety. As far as football experience,
like you were saying, this is basically my first year.
I've been playing basketball and baseball my whole life. So
I'm a natural athlete, but I'm very excited to step
on the field get to learn from coach Adams and
coach Gardner and a lot of other coaches. As far
(08:15):
as all season works, Like the rest of the teams
have been talking about up here, we've done a lot
of team workouts, a lot of individual workouts as well.
We're very team oriented where we have five seniors on
the team, so we're excited for the leadership that that
brings and that comes and yeah, we're just really excited
to start the season and kick it off.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
Hey, I'm Nate Riddle. I'm a senior as well. I
play running back and linebacker, and I haven't had any
football experience either. I've always played basketball and soccer.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
A whole life.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
And then and then, I mean we have a lot
of seniors. As you say, we have five seniors, so
I think that brings a lot of leadership and then
a lot off season work has been put in, so
I feel pretty confident about the season. I'm John Shruddle
and this is my first season as well on the team.
They're playing football in general, I've always played basketball and
(09:06):
soccer like my brother and Uh, I think we've got
a good coaching staff that is really ready to pour
into us, so I feel like we have a good
year
