(00:06):
Welcome to over Time, the onlyshow recommended by four out of five dentists
proven to prevent tartar and gingivitis andall that. I'm jin kazigers Den Stanley,
handsome and humble host on today's program, talk to a couple of different
of my friends, longtime friends fromthe media industry, Dave Haley of any
sportspage dot com. High school footballseason's well underway games Thursday night and Friday

(00:31):
night. We talked to Dave aboutwho's gonna make some noise in the high
school football that takes place here inNew Hampshire this season. Also talk to
Bob Lipman, now the longtime voiceof the Unhwldcats football team. And by
this point, I think the catis finally out of the bag and it
can make a major announcement that I'vebeen teasing for. I think months now

(00:52):
that Bob has taken a job atSouthern New Hampshire University, a really excellent
full time opportunity for him, andas a result, his saturdays are completely
encompassed by duties with Snow and thus, by process of elimination, I guess
your boy here was promoted to avoice of the un age Wildcats football team.

(01:14):
How about that? Huh? Asfar as I can tell, there
have only been three other people tobe the voice of the Wildcat football team.
Jock McKenzie back in the day andasked some stories about a boss that
never let me forget that I wasn'tJock McKenzie. Then Jim jannat of course
who the radio booth is named after, the Jim Janna broadcast booth. Then

(01:38):
Bob Blittman, and as far asI can tell, that's it now me
so three Hall of famers, andthen your boy here, who used to
get hit with chairs for a living. So one of these things doesn't belong
here, and yet here we are. I do have to say, and
I'll talk to mom about his favoritegames, favorite players, his favorite memories
from doing UNH football broadcasts. Inthis twenty eleven he also filled in for

(02:00):
Jim Juana for one game two thousand? Did he gave a two thousand?
Then he went off and did Darmouthradio play by play, and then eleven
years later he came back and starteddoing U and H stuff on a regular
basis. But I do have tosay, this is a pretty big deal
for your boy here. I grewup listening to U and H football and

(02:23):
kind of being you know, anointedas the voice of a football team.
Yeah, I do have to saythis is uh. I don't toot my
own horn very option. But myfirst my first play by play gig was
I kind of had to badger oneof my bosses into letting me do porch
with high basketball games and you canonly hear the station. It was WMYF

(02:44):
which I don't think exists anymore. It was a clear channel station. This
is when when iHeart was clear channeland when I worked out of the porch
with the side which is which iseverybody's over here in Manchester now. But
anyway, so I did porch withhigh basketball games, only the home ones,
and you can only hear it atnight if you lived within like I

(03:05):
don't know, a mile and ahalf of the tower. It was like
a one thousand and one am Sobasically these were being broadcast to nobody.
But from there that was I havea have a you know, I'm going
to click the bookmark here because thePorts with Harold at the time did a
story on it, so I cantell you the exact year. I think
that was two thousand and nine,me and my boy Dan Rondo started doing

(03:28):
those games. Let me click onthe bookmark here, this is a great
radio and me clicking on things tolook things up. I believe it was
two thousand and nine. So fromthere to go to a voice of the
Unitch Wildcat football team. It's beenquite a journey and it's quite an honor,
and I'm really excited. And bythe time you hear this, we
will be about the series and tenlet me do a little math carry them

(03:50):
one or about three hours from kickoffof the twenty twenty three season. It
was it was two thousand and nine. I'm looking at the article right here,
December seven, two thousand and nine, and it's got a goofy picture
of me and my friend Dan whenI still had some hairback then dandy color
commentary with me, despite having likenext to no basketball knowledge, but it
was we somehow made it work. And now here I am so so there

(04:13):
you go. Your boy's very excitedabout that, and I hope you'll tune
into all the games on ninety sixseven and AM six ten, which you're
hearing this show on. Also FoxSports nine thirty out of the Seacoast WPKX
and anywhere you go with that.iHeart radio app. So there you go.
What else is going on? Well, football and college wise really gets
going on this weekend. I'm recordingthis portion of the show Thursday night.

(04:38):
So there are some games about tokick off, including UH Utah and Florida,
which I feel like it's gonna gobad for Florida because Utah is big
and mean and rough and nasty andall those I say that as a compliment,
so things might not go so wellfor the Florida Gators going to Utah
this trip for Florida. By theway, if you're not all that familiar

(05:00):
with the University of Florida college football, they never play road games like outside
of the state of Florida, likehardly ever, unless it's an SEC conference
game. So I think they're travelingfurther with this one game than they having
like the last five years combined,as far as like mileage goes for road
games. So that's I've always foundthat interesting. They would we go on
the road for you and Anhel.I'm like, let's go as far as

(05:21):
possible. Let's let's if it's aroad trip, let's make it a road
trip. Baby, Florida doesn't wantto go anywhere, But there you go.
Some other interesting news broke on Thursdayafternoon and that was then by the
time this air is there may besome more developments. But former State Senator
Andy Sanborne, whose wife is currentlya high ranking New Hampshire House member,

(05:46):
Uh, they're in a little bitof trouble if I've started. General John
from Miller announced that after an investigation, uh win win Win LLC, which
is seems like an interesting name foran LLC doing business is the Conquered because
you know, which is owned byAndy Sandborn. Andy Sandbard is not suitable
to be associated with charitable gaming inNew Hampshire due to evidence of COVID nineteen

(06:09):
relief fraud involving the Conquered casino's charitablegaming business. Basically, the Attorney General's
Office has to, like on aregular basis, investigate chenerable gaming casinos to
make sure they're not, you know, doing fraud and things of that nature.
So as a regular as a regularlook into this stuff, they took

(06:30):
a look at Andy Sandborne. I'vehad like a few limited interactions with and
I have to say this is justmy own personal opinion doesn't seem like a
great guy, and this, uh, this, this investigation would seem to
bear that out just a bit.If you follow Andy Sandborn on Twitter,
which I don't, but I've seenhis tweets, he's one of these people

(06:53):
that thinks January sixth was overblown andlike you you like, how dare you
make a big deal out of,you know, over throwing a democracy?
YadA, YadA, YadA. Soanyway, what this investigation has found is
that, let's see, I'm gonnaread directly from this, so I don't
do a libel or a slander oranything. The documents that the Civil Bureau
obtained a reviewed in the course ofits investigation contained evidence indicating mister Sandboord's knowing

(07:15):
and willful execution of a scheme. It's a scheme right there, and artifice.
I don't know what that means shoulddefraud the United States Small Business Association
of i EIDL proceeds. So essentially, this guy got COVID relief and instead
of using it for what you're supposedto, he went and bought some sports
cars, which if you're going tosteal money, which I don't recommend.

(07:40):
If you're going to do that youmay want to be a little less flamboyant
about what you what you spend iton. The report continues, where was
I specifically considers in general gaming energiesare ineligible to see any EIDL funds to
avoid the statutory prohibition, appears misterStandboord admitted the licensees registered trade name conquered

(08:05):
CASEDO from the license's EIDL application. You do it a fraud? Areany fossibly
identified the license primary business activity asmiscellaneous services? I'm gonna start doing that.
What do you do for a living? I do miscellaneous services, which
technically wouldn't be wrong, and othermanagement consulting services on the licensees application to

(08:28):
I'll lawfully obtain proceeds of eight hundredforty four thousand dollars. See, but
what really bugs me about this? And hold on, I'll get to the
here's what he's sent the money on. Let's see my office. I'll get
to what really bugs me my office. Hall's found evidence of a series of
monetary transactions using the proceeds that appearto be acquired through fraud to support extravagant
personal spending by mister Sandbord and hisspouse New Hampshire State Representative Loris Sandborn.

(08:52):
I believe she's like the House Majoritywhip or like the deputy. I don't
know she's high up there. Specifically, my office collected and reviewed evidence that
mister Sandbord's use of EIDL proceeds two, among other things, purchase three.
It says race cars they're really sportscars. As a Formula one fan,
believe I know what race cars are. Three sports cars told like one hundred

(09:15):
and eighty one thousand dollars, includingtwo Porsche nine eight seven Cayman s.
Race cars are the Cayman, Aren'tthe Cayman's like those ugly crossovers that are
like not quite an suv and notquite as Anyway, I digress for missus
for mister Sandbord's personal use, andan eighty thousand dollars two thousand eight F
four thirty Ferrari is a gift tohis spouse, Representative Lori Sandborn eighty thousand

(09:39):
dollars two thousand eight ferrari. Anyway, I'll also to make purchases of various
auto parts and services for mister Sandborn'srace cars sports cars totally forty five thousand
dollars cash distributions to mister Sandbords totallylike one hundred and eighty three thousand dollars
disguised as rent payments. Oh eightyyou going to jail, son, you
go enough ederal prison purchase, engineeringand geotechnical services totally twenty eight thousand dollars

(10:05):
for mister Sandborn's proposed new casino andentertainment complex break o Day Drive in Concord,
New Hampshire. What really bugs meabout this because people steal. You
know, rich people steal all thetime. That's how they kind of stay
rich. Not all rich people, but a lot of them. What really
bugs me is he's the type ofguy and you see this with like conservative
talk show hosts that will go onextended rants about like shoplifting or like a

(10:30):
homelessness as lawlessness, but when itcomes to this type of stuff, suddenly
they ain't got a damn thing tosay. So any Sandborn who ran for
Congress was a state senator, stoleabout a million dollars in tax paid payer
funds allegedly so he could buy abunch of sports cars, and there won't

(10:52):
be any of the conservative talk showhosts in this state, one of which
used to be on this station. The other one who works across town and
is trying to get prigger you intothe curriculum. They won't have a thing
to say about this. But ifif there's a shoplifting spree in a blue
state, that's the end of society. That's what really gets my go to
about this. All right, anyway, enough of that, we're gonna talk
some sports next. Dave Haley atany sports page dot Com will be on

(11:16):
the program. Bob Lipman follows himafter that. Keep it here, this
is overtime and joined me on overtimeis a longtime friend, longtime heterosexual life
met the one and only from anage sports page dot com, Dave Hailey.
What's up, Dave? I waswaiting to hear how that introduction we

(11:37):
was gonna go. We really couldhave gone longer. If we're being honest
a lot of other things. Well, well, you know, it's it's
it's it's on a public radio station, so I have to clean it up
a bit. But if you don'tknow Dave from any sports page dot com,
first of all, shame on you. Second of all, entering his
and the team's sixteenth year of coverage, which I was thinking about this today,

(11:58):
Dave. There are kids that aresophomores maybe juniors, that are gonna
take to the field of court thatweren't born when you first started covering games,
don't I know it? And andand these kids I bump into now
have you know, buying homes andyou know, living all over and wife
and kids and stuff like that.So yeah, it's it's pretty incredible.
Yeah. And in a lot ofcases about you know a lot of these

(12:18):
kids like Luke Roberts played for Spauldingas a doctor. Like a lot of
these kids are doing better than Iam now and I'm like, what he'll
happened to me? Like me andme as well. It's uh, it's
changed quite a bit over the sixteenyears, obviously because obviously we've grown and
now it's really truly a team.It was just me in the beginning.
Now we are truly a team.Uh. But social media changed everything,

(12:43):
so you know, that's that's sortof a lot of our growth has to
do with social media, which reallyit existed when we first started sixteen years
ago, but wasn't being utilized byasked the way it is now. Instagram
didn't exist, and TikTok and youknow in Twitter as well or access.
I guess it's called now, yeah, let's call it Twitter. Nobody calls
it. Yeah, let's call itTwitter. Thank you? Yeah, so

(13:05):
if so, Dave say any sportsmagedot com. Football basketball are kind of
the uh kind of the main events. But also David the TV branshot to
cover girls soccer being featured this year. There's previews up on his website and
I think some video highlights of somegames because those games have already gotten going.
You do baseball and softball in thein the spring, so you got
a volleyball too, uh hearing that? So you guys are all over the

(13:28):
place covering everything and everything or anythingand everything. Yeah, we you know,
we've added full time coverage to girlssoccer and a baseball and and you
know it. It takes a lotof resources and funds to make that happen,
and we've been lucky enough with ourpartners to be able to do it.
But we hope to add you know, boys soccer in the future full

(13:48):
time coverage and then softball as well, and we'll hit our limit at some
point, Like are you know youyou you were a teammate of mine on
that website for a very long time, and we always try to, you
know, do what you do well, like really really well. Don't try
to like spread it out, justkind of focus on, you know,
your core strength and so forth,so on. So we don't want to

(14:09):
You're never gonna see his add fivesports in a year because we really want
to do it very well. AndI have to say, with girls soccer
under Lance and Jay Manzi and baseballin a pea Terrier in year one,
I thought they did a tremendous job. All those guys excellent. So we're
taping this on Wednesday. High schoolfootball has games on Thursday this week.

(14:30):
By the time you hear this onSaturday morning, there'll be some games in
the books. There maybe some highlightsalready of football games on the website.
And Dave also does forty eight thousandword previews that you can actually buy leather
bound copies of if you if youknow who to talk to. But so
let's let's talk a little bit aboutthe high school football season. You know.
Uh, we'll start with Division oneExeter Bedford h Always I always assume

(14:52):
they're gonna be in the mix forthe state championship. Flood Erry two has
been a dominant force as of late. That is more of the same this
year or who might surprise this day? Yeah, I mean I think if
if you got, you know, sent away to some exile island for four
years, and you came back andyou stepped off the plane with a you
know, four foot long beard, and they said, who do you think

(15:13):
it's going to be the powers inD one football? You could just say
Bedford, pankinon Exeter and Londonderry andyou'd be pretty safe. They'd be like,
this guy have WiFi on the island. So I do think that it's
a fairly wide open race, thoughI don't think Bedford is as dominant as
maybe some other people are. Theirdefense is terrific, but I think that

(15:33):
there's room for other teams to kindof jump up. Bedford went last year
is a ten seed? Did yourealize that they were tenseeed? Last year?
I realized they were in a tenseeed. I knew they wanted, but
I guess I didn't realize they werein a ten seeds. They were six
and three. They lost two oftheir last three games of the regular season
last year. So yeah, Ithink I think in the Seacoasts. This
might be portsman's year. This isthe best sportsman team. Get ready,

(15:58):
I'm gonna get you all fired up. This is probably the best sportsman team,
not probably, This is the bestsportsman team since that twenty thirteen championship
team that lost at Plymouth in theDivision Huge champion. You and I were
in the library calling that game atPlymouth Region High School or that was Chuck
Lenahan's last game right as a coachthe Plymouth podcast. Yeah, I went

(16:18):
to oversolutely and that was a thatwas a loaded Plymouth team and a loaded
Portsman team. I mean, justterrific players on both sides. So I
think this is Brian Pafford's best teamthat he's had his head coach. And
I picked them first in the Eastand Exeter second. I love with Kevin
Hiebert's doing at your Alma Mata. And Eric Komba is our good friend.

(16:40):
He's tremendous at Dover. So Ithink the Seacoast is usually the strength of
the Seacoast was basketball right now.I think football there. That's a very
strong region right now. Yeah,And I just hope men think the championship
game the Mikey tore isn't listening andwakes up in a cold sweat about the
many fumbles he had in that game, because don't be great. I know

(17:03):
at least you and I don't rememberit ten years later. That's the important
part. But all right, souh so it might be might see some
surprises out of the Sea Coasts.Love to hear Sea Coast represent you're covering
Exeter, I think on Thursday Nightright, which will be on the website
of the time people hear this.Roger Goodell gets his hands and everything.
Thursday Night football now exists and inNew Hampshire, yeah, because of the

(17:25):
officials shortage, you know, whichI you know, when things like this
happened, justin it's like you canall see it coming, like you know
what I mean with the the abusethese guys take and from people two hundred
yards away. And yeah, they'regonna play Timberlande. We'll be covering that
game and then on Friday night againyou'll you can watch the highlights as you're
listening to this now, but we'llbe covering Goffstown at their brand new beautiful

(17:48):
turf field with lights against pet TerrisAlma Mata nashvillself. So this is the
Pee Terrier Bowl. Goffstown the townhe lives in, and Nashville's the high
school he went to for custody ofPete Terrier. There's so much on the
line, like good, they getto keep them, They get to keep
them for the weekend. Just stillfive on Sunday though, that's it,

(18:10):
and I gotta bring him that. That was like when Connor Walsh and the
Jamboree played against Trinity and that wewere joking. He was from Goffstown kid,
one of our all time favorites, was a very good baseball player at
Keene State, and we joked inthe jamboree the winner gets to take Connor
Walsh home with them. Yeah,so that's fantastic, all right? Division
two? Who do we like?I always feel like Saint Thomas is gonna

(18:30):
be a player of Plymouth, ofcourse, I think where they were not
this gait call him down, butthey weren't plymouthy Plymouth for a few years.
Tenant's usually in the mix. Whodo you like? In Division two?
This season, it looks like thetwo teams that went to the finals
last year, Palham, who's goingfor their fourth straight championship. They won
two straight championships in Division three,a division they really didn't want to be

(18:52):
in, and a division they didnot belong in, and then won the
title last year in Division two.Palham and Sauhegan are clearly the two best
teams going into the season, right, but they're on the same side.
Yeah, but they they mixed itup so in the playoffs they wouldn't necessarily
play each other, you know, they they cross over. So yeah,

(19:15):
I think Plymouth actually is a sleeperteam, which has to sound crazy,
Tom No, no, but theplayoff game was their playoff games last year
and they yeah a Pellem, Sothey've been a little bit down. The
coaches are so good over there,Chris Sanborn, Tom Lamb and everybody,

(19:36):
but I think Plymouth a little bitof a sleeper. Kennet is going to
be very good. Handover is verygood, but they only have like thirty
six kids on the team. Youknow, dep you and I did this
for a very long time. You'renot doing it obviously at the college level
like a U and h's. Whenthere's an injury, they tell you about
it. In high school, thecoaches don't text me on Sunday, go
hey, just to let you know, my starting right tackle broke his collar

(19:57):
bone. So we'll see scores andPete and I do a Sunday podcast.
We're like, wow, how didhow did that happen? And then a
week later you find out, well, they didn't have three of their starting
linement, you know, because wedon't get injury reports. They try to
keep a quiet in college too,but they have press conferences where we asked

(20:18):
them and then they're like, allright, this guy's hurt better than like
the Celtics, who every guy whogets hurt should be back in a week
three months later. But I thinkPelham and saw heagn are clearly the favorites.
But you know, you know KeithJones at Milford and John Starks and
improving team, and you know,my Guildford Belmont team could be a surprise
team. Saint Thomas is they've gotan excellent coach and Ed McDonough. Their

(20:44):
numbers are just a little bit down. I worry about their death. They're
in the thirties as well for thenumber of players. I was, I
was, take a look at yourprivilege to day. Do you have a
kid on your almabater Guilford Belmont whosename is Anakin. Did I see that
Anakin underhill? We need to askdoes he handoff to a kid named Qui
gon or what? How does thatwork? It was gonna be Qui gone

(21:07):
or jar Jar. I knew itwas coming Boba. Yeah, just make
sure he has the high ground orit's not gonna go well for Anakin.
All right, he's he's fixed,so he usually has the high ground.
That's that's good. That didn't workout for the other Anakin. But we're
talking to Dave Halley at any sportspage dot com, the leader in the
standing Hampshire for high school sports coverageDivision three football, who's gonna be good?

(21:29):
And we love the lower divisions too, like all the all the WWR
spotlight and all the the ninety threemafia talks about the big schools. But
you're one of the hallmarks of yourwebsite is you You really ride or die
for the smaller schools as well, given equal coverage, which is awesome.
Who in Division three is is lookinggood this year? Well? Yeah,
I know, I appreciate that.We love that. We love going out

(21:51):
to places like Claremont to see Stevensor Swansea Sam and now knock Those are
my people, and I talked tothose coaches this week. My preview went
up Thursday morning, and they're they'rejust great people, great coaches, great
guys. H Campbell and Trinity, much like so Hegan in palam in D
two, they're clearly the favorites. They were in the finals last year.
Campbell has a running back by thename of Scott Hirshberger who he's the son

(22:15):
of Andy Hershberger. I was gonnasay, is he related? He is.
He's Andy Hrsberger's son, and heis an excellent, excellent, excellent
football player. Ran for sixteen hundredyards and twenty two touchdowns that last season.
Which games. Yeah, I wroteTecmo Bo Jackson was impressed by the
numbers. And Trinity is as youknow is Is is always a very very

(22:40):
good football team. I think InterLakes has got a good football team and
nan Knock is always in it.So but but I think those are your
probably your top teams in Division threegoing into the season. Division three is
a lot of fun because you getteams with, like you know, with
different personnalities like the nad Knocks alwayslike tough grind you down run the football
three yards in a cloud of dust. And then you get the teams that

(23:00):
you know, like you played likea private school in Manchester. Those are
fun matchups to me, just towatch the just to watch somebody for Manchester
who might be driving to Ben's haveto go to mandan Nack and be like,
well where am I did? Idid? I just time travel?
What happened there? Yeah? Andinterlleg excuse me on Trinity is a team
that they want to get you onthat turf and they have Devon Ellis who's
a terrific basketball player as well. They want to get kids like him in

(23:22):
space and Paul Tebow and Jack Serviceand they want to beat you with speed,
where Mendanak and Campbell want to beatyou up in a foam booth.
So yeah, you're absolutely right. It's different, different styles, which makes
a lot of fun. And yeah, that's small. You know. I
went up to a Claremont game ona Friday night, excuse Stevens game in
Claremont. I just was blown. It's right in the middle of a neighborhood

(23:45):
and there's like fencing around the peopleon their yards watching and great crowds.
It's just it's you know, thoselittle towns like that are special. I
mean for football on Friday night.Yeah, Barnes Parks one of my favorite
locations for high school football gamecause you'rein the outfield of the Old Bay,
small stadium of the AD. It'slike a cool old school feels it's pretty
neat. Division four starts a weeklater than everybody else because they get fewer

(24:07):
schools, the smallest, smallest footballplaying schools in New Hampford. Summers Worth
has been a wagon the past fewyears in Division four. Is that is
that what you expect is not tolike spoil the preview, but what earl
on how you looking at the Divisionfour I have heard things. I will
be calling those coaches over the weekendand next week because again they start,

(24:27):
so my preview will be next week. But I've heard about Summer's Worth that
they lost, they lost their twobest playmakers, but they they're just big
and strong and athletic, very verywell coached. And Newport I heard just
looks typical Newport. They scrimmage Bandanknock and he said it was a very
very good scrimmage. Those are yourfavorites. They were so far above everybody

(24:48):
else last year that I don't knowthat anybody's gonna be able to catch up.
I mean again, I'll talk toeverybody and have a full preview and
analysis, but until further new notice, I would count on Summer's with the
Newport being there. Again, italmost seems like they're too big for Division
four but kind of too small forDivision three. It's it's it's like as
quadruple a baseball player, almost right. Yeah, I don't you know.

(25:10):
I looked at Summer's Worth last yearand I covered that game, the Newport
at Somersworth game on a Friday night, because frankly, it was like kind
of the only game that, youknow, you had to cover in the
entire division. And they were sogood that I thought, man, if
they played Campbell or if they playedTrinity, they give them a heck of
a game. And I wonder ifit wasn't boring at times. I mean,

(25:32):
they went into games against you know, like your Bishop Bradies or your
Winter squams, and they gat themlike fifty six to nothing, and so
I'm surprised. So the cycle istwo year cycles, as you know,
this is the second year of thecycle. I wonder if they don't move
up next year to Division three becausethey're they're very very good football and you
know, going back to Danny Hodson, they've been very good for a long

(25:53):
time. Yeah, summers Were wasa fun football town. They can.
They get out and support the Hilltoppersout there, and it's as good atmosphere
there too. And I haven't beento a Summer's Worth game in a bit.
I wonder if they still play atthe shovel at midfield. That was
one of my favorite things. You'relike, well, I was gonna tell
you, like the music they playin pregame is not changed. Like I've
listened being doing basketball games in gymnasiums, I've listened to more Drake songs than

(26:18):
I can even count in more horriblerap songs. But you go to summers
Worth on a Friday night, you'regetting ACDC Metallica. I mean it's oh
School. I think it's our boybe Heaber that's still curating the playlist over
there. So good. Good forsummers worse for keeping a rail with the
metal, Yeah, absolutely all right. So Dave Hilly here any sports page
dot com? Uh football girls soccerthe main focus is of the fall,

(26:42):
so uh, you got previews upfor girls soccer? The previous are rolling
out again. We taped this onWednesday, you hear on Saturday, but
the previous been rolling out this weekfor football. What else can we expect
for the website? What games areyou looking at for for this weekend?
Beyond that, people can expect coverageon your website. Well, the stats
are gonna be the big thing, you know. We update the statistics after

(27:04):
every soccer game and after every weekendof football, and we're able to post
the leaders in each division, soall eight divisions of four and girls soccer
and four in football as well.So we're gonna have play of the week
that we'll be doing. We'll haveour player of the week. And then
next week looks like we're covering MilfordSauhegan on Friday night, which I think

(27:25):
we've covered ten times but it's justsuch a great rivalry. And then I
am going to wear New Hampshire tocover the John Stark Generals and the Hanover
don't say Marauders because apparently that's offensivebears, the Hanover Bears. Did you
know that? The Bears? NowI did know that, and if they
wanted to change it from Marauders, that's fine. But there's already. I
know Co Brown is played football, but we already have the co Brown Bears.

(27:47):
They're gonna play each other in basketball. It was a Bears versus Bears.
I don't like that. Pick somethingelse. Bears are people too though,
Isn't that offensive? I betch youTimothy Treadwall wouldn't be happy this.
If they should, they should haveit. Golfstounds the Grizzlies. Too many
bears, yea, if they werethe Koala Bears, that would have been
like I could have got it.Or the Panda Bears. How about the
Panda Bears? Give it the PandaBears. Didn't we do a thing with

(28:10):
the students at Timberlaine, remember thatthat group, and they did like the
top rated Bears, and they are. They played golf Town and they did
a list of the top bears andGrizzly Bears. Wasn't in it? Grizzly
yeah? Or they were at thebottom something like that, at the bottom.
I don't know where those kids are, but they're running a very very
large company right now and probably doingit better than most adults. Well that's

(28:32):
given the state of the world. That's probably not hard. But Dave Hailey,
any sports Page dot com or thewebsite, follow them on Twitter,
on Instagram, on TikTok, prettymuch everywhere you look. Dave, have
a great season and let's let's playsome golf before it gets cold. Yeah,
absolutely, buddy, Thanks for havingme on. This was a lot
of fun and the great to beback on the Yeah, we'll do it

(28:52):
again before the end of the year. Certainly joining me on overtime is a
very good friend of mine, andof course you hear him on the Hampshire
Fisher Cats and since twenty eleven onYou and AH broadcasts on football. But
I guess the Cats out of theback at this point. Bob Littman,

(29:14):
my good pal, has taken agreat opportunity in Southern Hampshire University, which
unfortunately eats up as Saturdays, sohe has abandoned me on football Saturdays.
It won't be on You and Agebroadcast. Bob, How you doing,
I'm doing great? How are you? I'm fantastic And it's a ten plus
year running for you doing You andAH broadcast he started in twenty eleven.

(29:37):
And I'm not gonna lie im gonnamiss you on the road. By the
time people hear this, I willhave already traveled to Stone Hill College.
We'll be getting ready for the game. But it's gonna be a little bitter
sweet as football starts to kick off. Right. Yeah, I think whenever
something's been such a big part ofyour life for so long, you can't
help but miss it. I firstdid a U and H football game in

(30:00):
two thousand with Mike Murphy, andthat kind of got me the bug,
and by the next year I wasthe play by play voice for Dartmouth College,
a job I held through in variouscapacities, either as an analyst or
a sideline reporter play by play guidoltwo thousand and ten, and then jumped
over to UNH and was part ofthat great run that we had with coach

(30:23):
McDonald and now with coach Santos.Yeah, and uh, that was really
kind of the uh probably the highestlevel unit has gone to in football,
the back to back trips to theFinal four, and that the game against
Illinois stand. I remember watching partof it, listening to you on part
of it, and unfortunately the Catskind of lost at the end. But

(30:45):
what a great run for the Catsin the middle of that playoffs treak.
Look, you can't talk about howphenomenal it is that unh has been able
to play at the very very highestlevel of college football at you know,
at FCS. And you were withme when we went to South Dakota State,

(31:06):
we went to North Dakota State,Montana State, got to see the
nation play some great football teams, and you know, and and we were
the beast of the East there forquite a while. Indeed, So let's
reflect a little bit on your timewith the Wildcats. What are you some
of your favorite games? Because youremember everything and if you don't remember it,

(31:26):
usually write it down. You havea photographic memory for this stuff.
Some of your favorite games, yourfavorite players. What are you gonna remember
the most from from your time callingWildcat football? Much time? Do we
have? What kind of boy thatboy? Is that a loaded question?
Where do we start with some ofthe favorite games? Sure? Yeah.

(31:48):
The first one that I ever didwith Mike Murphy in two thousand was one
of the most memorable games that youcould ever imagine because the Wildcats at I
think they were number two Delaware downthirty one three in the third quarter,
rallied to win the game at overtime, and that really got what I think

(32:08):
the whole ball rolling with you ateight. I wasn't a big part of
that run, but I was abig part of the run in two thousand
thirteen. In two thousand fourteen whenUNH went to the back to back final
fours, as you mentioned two thirteen, a huge playoff win on the road

(32:30):
at Maine after we had just beatenMaine to close the regular season. I
think that was like the only twogames that Maine lost at one double A
that year. And then to goon the road the next week the Southeastern
Louisiana and to put on a reallygood show there, come away with a

(32:52):
win, and then go on tothe opportunity to make it to the national
championship game step fell a little shortat North Dakota State that year, by
those two were memorable. And thenthe playoff when we had at Central Arkansas
was sure. You know, again, another very a terrific win for the

(33:13):
Wildcat staff to go on the roadthere and they fell one game short of
making to the semi finals that year, which was that was your first year,
right, it was? Yeah,it was. I remember that game
because Trevor Knight got hurt in thefirst half and it was Christian Lupoli who
came in a quarterback and we werelike, oh, this might not go
well, but he played well inthe second half and they got to win

(33:34):
on the Stripes, which is theone the only time I've been to Arkansas.
Yes, the Purple and Gray CentralArkansas. I do remember that.
I do remember that well. Thequarterbacks that we had through that run,
the coach Mac always used to callthem one and one. I mean,

(33:54):
they were two unbelievably talented quarterbacks, and Andy Vayliss and Shawn gold Rich.
Vailist with his ability to run thefootball and throw, gold Rich with his
uh just always seem to be ableto come up with that big play when
the Wildcats needed it. They weregreat. Trevor Knight was fantastic, and

(34:15):
the guy we've got there now,Max Brosmer, is every bit up there
with some of the best quarterbacks thatUS has ever had. I'm talking with
Bob Levin the long time a voiceof a UNH Wildcat football who's now taken
on a great, great opportunity atSouthern New Hampshire University. So he's kind
of passed the pass the reins overto me, and so is the UNH

(34:37):
football program. Talk about some ofthe players that have come through while you've
been there, who've been your favoriteplayers to watch or just to you know,
chit chat with on the road.We got a chance to, like,
you know, have dinner with theseguys and you know, and the
team meals and all that. Alot of people don't see that behind the
scenes, but you really get toknow a lot of these guys and really
get to really get to like them. No question. We've always rooted for

(35:01):
the New Hampshire guys, right That'sthat's always been a case, mainly because
we've we have tied to them datingback to their high school years. Some
of the best players that we've had. Matt Evans was a total class act.
Maybe the best defensive player linebacker thatyou and H has had graduated in

(35:22):
over ten years now. Uh sincehe was a star for the Wildcats.
We had a receiver by the nameof Neil O'Connor who was just absolutely spectacular
year in and year out, justgave it all. His body might not

(35:44):
have been up to it, butwas as personable as they come. A
really good guy, you know. The the otherwide receiver R J. Harris,
one of the greats that you andh has ever had and certainly was
a terriffic. I have always hadan affinity for tight ends at the University

(36:06):
of New Hampshire because they were alwayssuch a huge part of the offense,
right and Harold Spears was one ofthe best that we've had at that position
as well, and we got toknow him over the years. So I'm
just throwing out a few names, but how many hundreds of players have come
through that program, you know thatsince we were a part of it,

(36:28):
even just just the last few years. And I'm going back all the way
to when I first started as aplay by play guy was twenty twelve.
I did the first year with JimJannat and what an honor it was to
work with Jim, who I hadn'tlistened to since I first moved to New
Hampshire. We broadcast games from theJim Jannat broadcast, but we still see

(36:49):
him on Saturdays at Wildcat Stadium andand it's it's great that I had that
opportunity to work with him and kindof learned the inside, and that's what
the program was all about. Yeah, I can't remember listening to you to
you Jim's last game with you atMontana State, because I was driving back
from the Dover Hockey Jamboree, justscouting out the high school teams when I

(37:14):
worked over on the Sea Coast, and I, just like you can,
you can tune in, not knowwhat the score was, but you can
tell how it was going just byhearing the tone of Jim's voice. And
I've never heard somebody's heartbreak on theair, but I did when you and
H missed that extra point that wouldhave sent it to overtime at Montana State,
that game you were doing with him. How about the fact that you

(37:37):
and H even got the ball backat the end of that game to have
a shot and went down and scoredthem missed the extra point. But to
me, the remarkable irony is thatSean McDonald as a player lost at Montana
State in the playoffs on a missedextra point. That's wild. That's that's

(37:59):
to have that happened twice. It'sunbelievable. Teams will only played twice in
their history, right. I guessboth games ended on the road the same
way. I guess if they playagain, they've got to leave coach back
at home and haven't watched. Ihaven't watched on TV just in case there's
a jigs going on. But talkingwith Bob Litman, who was the longtime
voice of the n H Wildcats. So tell folks about what what what's you're

(38:22):
doing at Southern New Hampshire. Nowyou've been working there a couple of years,
but now you're on the full timeathletic staff and it's a great crew
over there. Of course, youknow people have heard Southern New Hampshire basketball
games on these stations for quite afew years. What are you doing over
at SNOW, Yeah, they I'min a full time athletic communications role and
we have seventeen or eighteen sports andthere are two of us, and our

(38:46):
job is to cover the games, stat the games, write the game stories,
tell the stories about Southern New Hampshireathletes, and they've they've are going
to use I think a little bitof my expertise, I would say,
to help develop the archives of theprogram that dates all the way back to
New Hampshire College. Some of ourathletic programs are going to be having fifty

(39:10):
year anniversaries next year, so itwas a great opportunity for me chance to
slow down a little bit. Notthat I not that physically I needed to
do that, but it was. It'll be great to be home every single
Saturday night and hopefully after we're winning. You can tell the truth, you

(39:30):
just got sick of babysitting me onthe road, right, you can tell
the list. There are a fewthings I've enjoyed more over the years as
a broadcaster. I'm not kidding thenhaving that opportunity to Justin and I have
hit a lot of this country overthe last few years, and we've had

(39:52):
some great memories. Absolutely, Iwill never forget to downtown Boulder at two
o'clock in the morning. It's aboutto say for people that know follow me
on social media because we're coming uhwe're coming up on the anniversary of the
uh the Boulder poet. Which isall I'll say about that. But that's
I will as long as I live, I will never forget that. Yeah,

(40:14):
that's Trump out to Colorado. Butuh, Bob, I'm since cerrely
gonna miss you on you know,on game days, on the road,
working with you every weekend and thefall and winter for these past uh since
twenty seventeen, I was told there'dbe no mass six or seven years has
been has been outstanding. It's beenan honor and it's allowed us to become

(40:34):
really close friends. I think, and uh, I'm gonna miss you on
game days, but we're gonna seearound at Dartmouth and SNeW and a bunch
of other places too. I can'twait to listen in and and to follow
the Wildcats. I know you've gotsomething special developing here this year. I
think that it's going to be agreat season. All the best to you,
justin and we'll see on the fairwayssoon. Indeed, all right,

(40:57):
Bob Litvin, my very good friend, locktop voice, your h Wildcats kind
of have to draw us here onovertime. Welcome back to overtime porfeit final
segment. We are running out ofshow. And of course don't forget to
stude in at twelve thirty on thesevery stations. Just leave the radio on

(41:19):
here all day anyway. Yeah, twelve thirty pregame show starts for your age
football at Stonehill College. I'm notdoing the show live, as any of
you who listen to the show. No, at this point I am preparing
for the game as we speak throughthe magic of prerecorded audio. But my
thanks to my guests. Dave Haleyan ah sports page dot com. Make
sure you hit up his website forall your high school sports coverage again and

(41:39):
the fall. Dave does football andgirls soccer. I think he mixes in
a little bit of volleyball coverage aswell, and in the winter he really
blows it out with boys and girlsbasketball. That's kind of his his wheelhouse,
his bread and butter. The doodleright at eight thousand word preview on
Division four basketball about schools you've neverheard. But by the time you get

(42:00):
done reading it forty five minutes later, I'll tell you what. You're pretty
schooled up. You know exactly whogroveed in this number three scorer is,
and you might not even know wheregrowth is on the map. But anyway,
I'll also fixed to Bob Litman,my tag team partner on You and
Age Football for the last six orseven years, And of course Bob will
be doing a lot of stuff forDartmouth and Southern New Hampshire and he'll be

(42:23):
kicking my ass up and down golfcourses across New Hampshire until the snow starts
following. So much left to Boband my thanks to him for being my
road dog these last years. Iwill definitely miss him on the road with
you and h Football. But that'sgonna wrap it up. We are running
out a show again. Tune intoYou and Age Football twelve thirty on These
fine stations are on the iHeart Radioapp. And if you missed any of

overtime with Justin mccisah and boom thereit is. Leave a five star review
