Speaker 2 (00:18):
Here's your host, Mark James.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
It's a special Picking the Locks Thanksgiving Weekend, biggest sports
weekend of the year. I'm your hosts Mark James MJ
in the Midday from sports radio leader in Seattle ninety
three to three kjr FM, along with the best sports
any kapper in America, Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports dot
(00:42):
Com and man Lee.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Every year I say it, and this year's no exception.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Thanksgiving Weekend truly is the best sports weekend of the year,
the best sports gambling weekend of the year. It's we
have the penn ultimate time for college football, the second
to last weekend before championship weekend. Conference Championship weekend coming up,
we have the NFL Week thirteen. You've got all the
college basketball holiday tournaments going on Maui and Vegas and
(01:15):
wherever else they are.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
You've got the.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
NBA, You've got the NHL, the only sports that's not
going on right now. The major team sports is Major
League Baseball, so this time of the year is unbelievable.
I also want to say this show is brought to
you by Fan Duel Sportsbooks, Suquamash Clearwater Casino Resort, and
we hope that each and every one of you had
(01:37):
a happy thanks Giving with you and your families, and
I know you did, Lee, and wow, what a day
it was yesterday in the NFL. Three unbelievable games, great really,
probably the best slate and Thanksgiving I've seen in a
long time. Packers, Lions, Cowboys, Chiefs, and of course last
(01:59):
night Joe Burrow back to see the Bengals versus the Ravens.
But Lee and listen, man, this weekend is a major
weekend for a lot of teams.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
And before we get into the games.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
The college football rankings came out on Tuesday night and
there was some slight movement out there, not enough movement
for some teams, but nonetheless there was some slight movement
and basically what it came down to is pretty much
the same four at the top, number five Texas Tech.
(02:34):
There there was some shifting. Oregon moved up to six,
Ole Miss moved down to seven. I'm hearing that any
minute now, or at least probably after the Egg Bowl,
Lane Kiffen is leaving to go to LSU. Number eight
is Oklahoma, and then things get very interesting. Number nine
Notre Dame, Number ten Alabama, and number eleven our Miami Hurricanes. Well,
(03:01):
actually technically Miami's twelve, but in the brackets as they
do it, a lot of things you know, are different there.
But anyway, Lee, now Miami is within striking distance of
Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
But the way I look at it is.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
This man and I hate to say it, and I
want to get your thoughts, and it comes down to this.
It seems obvious to me, and it's a joke that
the committee is gonna put Miami in over Notre Dame,
barring some things that could happen this weekend iron Ball,
maybe in upset Auburn over Alabama, making sure Texas Tech
(03:37):
holds serve in the Big twelve championship game over BYU
Ohio State, beating Michigan and making sure Michigan with two
losses and beating Ohio's date, they can't get in. But
it seems to me they moved up Miami just a
little bit. But the committee right now, there's no way
(03:58):
they're putting in Miami over Notre game, despite the fact
that the Canes beat them to start the season.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah, it's a problem, I mean, and it wasn't You
can't just look at the score. The score was closed.
But Miami dominated play, so they were pretty much up
double digits almost the entire game, and they went to
the prevent the last couple drives to allow non to
just get back in the game, and they had to
go to link to the field with like twenty five
thirty seconds, which wasn't going to happen. So head to
(04:27):
head should obviously matter. You know. What happens is you
start off with a lower ranking, and Miami was much
lower ranked than Notre Dame, and so they had to
climb and then when they lose, you know, and it's
when you lose, they got punished more. So you know,
they should base things more obviously on head to head.
(04:48):
They do have to obviously give Notre Dame some kudos
for going on this streak and winning every single game
after those two tough losses. But it's tough. I mean,
the I think both teams deserve to be in it.
There's some teams out there that I think are gonna
end up losing. So in the end, you get a
(05:09):
little more excited than I do. I'm maybe a little
bit more even keel, but I think the end it's
gonna work itself out for Miami if Miami wins. So
Miami has a one of the toughest you pass here,
they got to go to Pittsburgh and play in uh
looks like low thirty degree weather. I mean, when was
the last time Miami won in that kind of weather?
(05:32):
Almost never?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
No, it's it's been a while, so uh so, And
let me just say this too, this is a very
special Picking the Lock Show. It's gonna go for an
hour and a half, not just an hour, and coming
up in the last hour of the show, the afternoon
show on our flagship Seattle Sports Leader ninety three to
three KJRFM, Softy In, Dick, Dave, Softy Maler, and Dick
(05:53):
Fane will join us and we're gonna have a little
bit of a tag team challenge. Me and Lee versus
softy In Dick our ten picks versus their ten picks,
and the winner will hopefully get at least dinner from
the losers. So we'll see what remains to see what
will happen on that. But that's the gautlet that we're
(06:14):
throwing down. So Lee, let's start it off right then
in air. You mentioned Miami and Pittsburgh. Let's start right
then in air. And I know for our segment underdogs,
wrong team favored. You have an interesting pick on this.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
One, yep, and I'm going to take the pitt Panthers.
And you're saying, wow, Lee, you're a Miami fan. As
you know. My daughter went to school there, I got
my masters from Miami, and my dad was even the
team Dennis for almost thirty years. So it pains me,
trust me, it pains me to go against Miami. But
(06:49):
the weather is number one. I mean, outside of two
years ago, I think it was two or three years ago,
Remami one at BC in a meaningless game at the
end of November has had It's been a horror show.
I mean, go back eight years ago, they're undefeated, they
go to pitt and they lose and it wasn't even close.
(07:11):
Miami didn't even show up. Kids are standing on the
sideline freezing. I know they're probably gonna make the practice facility.
They probably made it, you know, low fifties, mid fifties,
somewhere along that line. They turned the ac up. But
you can't recreate you know, what takes place in low
to mid thirties weather and traveling. Miami also had to
(07:33):
travel last week. Virginia Tech. Takes a little bit of
toll on your body to, you know, go back home
after a game, get back on a plane, sleep in
another hotel you're not used to. Even the pillows are different.
I know what it's like. So it's gonna be tough.
On top of that, No, Key Anty Scott Canti Scott,
their best cornerback and rated number one by Pro Football Focus,
(07:56):
will not play in this game. Miami really has only
faced one d throwing quarterback, and that's Kevin Jennings from SMU.
I mean SMU was aided by penalties, and Miami always
gets called for more penalties. Look it up. Eleven games
this year their opponent has been called for less penalties
two thousand and seventeen season. The offensive line for the
(08:19):
opposing teams until that pit game, and they started calling
penalties when Miami was out of the game. They did
not call holding penalty on the opponent one time until
the last game of the regular season. Just shows you
how tough it is for Miami to win. You're going
up against an opponent, going up against a lot of
(08:39):
times the officials. Unless you're a Miami fan, almost no
one likes Miami here. Mason Henchfel, the quarterback for Pittsburgh,
impressive since he was inserted when they were two and two,
seven touchdowns, just one interception at home, and I just
think that he's a guy that can hurt Miami some here.
(09:00):
Miami's a better team on paper here, but I like
pitt plus to seven. I'm hoping Miami wins the game,
you know, and pit covers. To me, that would be perfect.
Miami wins by six, but seven points. There's a lot
to lay on the road here. And just horrific weather
just for the Miami kids. I mean, most people wouldn't
be that bad, but Miami kids, trust me, it's bad.
(09:21):
When the coldest day we've had after eight am in
the morning is seventy one degrees. Pitt I think they
might pull the upset here twenty seven to twenty four
over Miami here.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Wow, well, then there you won't have to worry about
the committee if that happens. And here's my thing, even
on that, for what it's worth, I mean, anytime you
get people in a room deciding who makes it, unlike
a true meritocracy like you have with the NFL. Now, granted,
I love college football and NFL equally. I grew up
in a pro football environment, but I fell in love
(09:52):
with college football because of the U and the Miami
Hurricanes football program. But at least the NFL gets it right.
The top seven teams in each conference make it. Roger
Goodell is not in a room with a bunch of
empty corporate suits deciding who makes the playoffs. He just
doesn't do that. It doesn't work that way. All right,
(10:13):
I'm gonna go to the game of the weekend. Well,
it certainly is what people consider arguably the greatest rivalry
in college football. Ohio State Michigan. Ohio State last year
lost this game as a twenty one point favorite at home.
Think about that. Everyone thought they were done. People are
calling for Ryan Day's job. They go on after that,
(10:36):
they make it into the playoffs, they win four in
a row, and they win the national championship. But Ryan
Day has lost four straight years to Michigan and Jim
Harball wasn't even the coach for a couple of those years.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
With Sharon Moore, who's the coach there.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Now you look at Michigan and I look at their
schedule and I'm like, they haven't been that impressive to
me whatsoever.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well, they are at home, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
But Bryce Underwood, I know at this point in the
year he should be a sophomore and not a true
freshman anymore. But you look at their games and when
they go up against a tough defense, they really aren't
that good. I'm looking at Michigan over the course of
the last six weeks twenty excuse me, they basically let's
(11:21):
go back to the Northwestern game, twenty four points against Northwestern,
twenty one against Perdue, thirty one against Michigan State, who's awful,
and twenty four against Washington, and they only score thirteen
against USC. Well, they're facing a much different defense here,
one of the if not arguably the best defense in America.
(11:41):
So what I'm gonna do here on this game lead,
I'm gonna go Michigan team total under seventeen points for
this game. Team total under for Michigan seventeen points and
they're not gonna win this game. Ohio State's gonna shut
them down, not shut them out, but they're to shut
them down on that one. All right, Lee, Let's go
(12:04):
to Atlanta and the Mercedes Benz Dome in the atl
for your next game between the Dogs and Georgia Tech.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
All right, so we know right now Georgia is a
quality team. We know they're more talented than Georgia Tech.
But let's just be real. If Georgia struggled any of
the last couple games, and if Georgia Tech beats Pitt
this line is probably single digits, not fourteen, and who
(12:34):
knows might go up even more. So why would you
lay fourteen points in Georgia so the market is taken off.
You needed to be there when the line came out
and it was eleven eleven and a half. You don't
want to pay an extra field goal. This Georgia Tech
defense numbers wise not great, ninety six against the run,
(12:54):
one hundred and fifth against the pass, but just seventy
sevenths and points allowed. So they do a lot of
bending but don't break. Just They fell behind twenty eight
nothing last week, couldn't come back here, but I just
think that this is a line that should be much
much lower. Georgia Tech is also playing at home, so
(13:18):
people judge too much and base their bets on the
last week, what they saw last year. This is still
a rivalry game here. Georgia Tech thinks of Georgia much
more as a rival than vice versa. I think Georgia
wins thirty eight thirty. I'm taking the two touchdowns, all.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Right, all right, Haines King going to get the cover there.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
All right, I'm going to go now to the NFL.
And you know what I did on my first pick, Well,
this is another one. I'm feeling pretty good about. Another
great defense, one of the top three defenses in the NFL.
And they're playing against the Washington Commanders, who do not
have Jaden Daniels. And you look at the Commanders this year,
they are absolute garbage. They have such a disappointing season
(13:59):
from a year ago. They've lost six straight games. They
only scored thirteen recently to the at the Miami Dolphins.
I know they're coming off of bye. It doesn't matter
what travels and gets through tsa security defense. And I'll
tell you right now, the Denver Broncos defense will travel,
so they're gonna face the Washington Commanders. No jayde and Daniels,
(14:22):
and quite frankly, even if he did play, he's had
a sophomore slump season.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I know he's been injured most of the year.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
I'm gonna take this Sean Payton advance, Joseph coach defense,
and I'm gonna do what I did in the Ohio
State Michigan game. I'm gonna go Washington Commanders team total.
Since this is the underdog segment under eighteen and a
half points, under eighteen and a half points for the
(14:47):
Washington Commanders versus the Denver Broncos, which is going to
be Unfortunately, can't they flex this league the Sunday Night
Game of the Week on NBC.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (14:58):
A team was lost six in a row, that's three
and eight on the year getting the Sunday night game.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
That's a joke, all right. So there's our first segment there.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Coming up next, we will have the blowouts right here

Speaker 5 (16:04):

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I actually forgot it for a second, one eight hundred two.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Eight hundred, four hundred, eight hundred, four hundred. I know
you're excited.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Eight hundred, four hundred nine to seven four one. I
will never forget that again. Don't forget. Coming up, We're
gonna have the tag team challenge, Me and Lee the
pros versus the Joe's softy in Dick. From Sports Radio
ninety three to three KJRFM. The afternoon show that's gonna
be coming up the final segment. We're gonna have the
blowouts coming up this segment. And don't forget the next segment,
(16:34):
the one segment that everybody waits for the most, the
locks before we get to Softy in Dick. It's gonna
be an hour and a half show today leading up
into the pregame of the Bears and Eagles, which you
can hear that game right here on Seattle Sports Leader
ninety three three KJRM.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
But Lee, it is rivalry Weekend. What does it mean
to you?
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Well, rival Weekend is a time and where teams and
even if they're out of it, you know, teams like
Mississippi State, teams like Arkansas. You know, when you're playing
a team that is your rival, you're going to get
up for the game. Whatever you have left, whatever The
coaching staffs, even if they're playing you know, with interim
(17:17):
coaches here, who are gonna this is our last game.
They're going to be let go after this game. They
want to give it all they got. They want to
end on a high note. And some of these teams,
you know, coming in high on the hog, you know
they're they're all excited thinking, oh, I you know, I'm
going to be in the college football playoff and and
I'm going to be able to absolutely dominate. I mean,
(17:38):
look what if you if you follow along and you
talk about rivalries. Just look at Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
Look what he said about playing at Jordan Here Stadium.
He said the place is haunted. Yeah, they hadn't won
they won there more than three points and since twenty fifteen,
(18:00):
and they had the better team obviously winning national championships,
multiple championships since that time. So it just shows you.
You know, the place is going to be rocking. They're
gonna throw everything. You know, they'll fry double reverse passes,
on side kicks, you know, different formations if they'd never shown,
they'll at least bring out five, six, seven plays they
(18:22):
haven't shown all year, wildcat formations. The crowd is going
to be crazy. It makes their season. So you have
to take that into account. And that's why a lot
of these lines, you know, like Alabama should be seven
and a half eight and a half point favorite at
Auburn based on the talent. But the bottom line is
the line is sitting at five and a half and
(18:44):
it hasn't moved. Same with Mississippi State and the eight
Bowl against and against Ole miss Line sitting at seven
and a half hasn't moved.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Yeah, that's interesting.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
And you know you heard from the committee the other
night on ESPN the chairman and Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter
Yuraicek was on with Ree Davis and he was talking about, Hey,
what about the situation that you know, I mean Lee,
I mean, here we go, we got the Egg Bowl
and then it's all reports now that Lane Kiffin is
(19:15):
going to LSU. I mean, it's it's that it's coaching
carousel season in full effect. Arkansas just hired Alex Golish
from USF, so it's in full effect right now and
we're we're seeing it. And you're right, Rivalry weekend, you can't.
You got to say that's slower rival Re Weekend. Things
(19:37):
can get a little bananas. Member the Kick six, remember
that in twenty thirteen that prevented Nick Saban from winning
three straight national titles. That game in Auburn went to
the national championship that year, ultimately losing to Florida State,
but Alabama was going for three in a row that year,
so it It's one of those things that you just
(19:59):
truly you never know what's going to happen. At the
bottom line is that and we've seen it, and you
mentioned Miami at Pittsburgh, and we've seen teams you get
to that final weekend and man, it is crazy. All Right,
I'm going to start with for my first blowout of
the year. I'm going to go to Provo, Utah. This
(20:19):
is an easy one. And you know what, here's the
thing about it. Lee the committee right now, and you
look at this committee and BYU, Yeah, if they win
the Big twelve, they're in the College Football Playoff, but
they're eleven right now, and they need some style points.
Well what better way to get style points than Basically
(20:43):
my situation is, I'm looking at it like you're playing
you c F unbelievable, and this is how you do it.
You want to impress the committee, this is how you
do it. BYU is seven and three against the number
this year?
Speaker 2 (20:59):
What is you CF? UCF is three and seven thirty percent.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
UCF is horrible, not only at home, but really, I mean, yeah,
they beat North Carolina, who hasn't beaten North Carolina. U
CF lost by two touchdowns to Kansas State, and they
lost to Cincinnati as well. They got blown out thirty
to three at Baylor. Well, this is a game Kilani
Sataki and their quarterback Bear Bachmeier. They're gonna go all
(21:29):
out and it's gonna be blow out city.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
To me, I look at.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
This line right now. It's seventeen seventeen and a half.
It could be twenty seven and a half. It won't
be that close. I think BYU absolutely annihilates UCF trying
to obviously curry favor with the committee and make sure
you cover that one convincingly. They're at home. Blowout city
(21:55):
for BYU. So take the Cougars minus seventeen seventeen and
a half points. Bet it now, thank me later, and
cash that ticket. All right, Lee, your first one coming
up for the big blowouts this weekend, take it away.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Yeah. First game I'm gonna look at is the Texas
A and M in Texas game. So since Ohio State,
Texas has faced I think really only three good offenses,
and they were all in the last three weeks. Vanderbilt
they gave up thirty one points, Georgia thirty five, and
then Arkansas, who played with a backup quarterback more than
(22:41):
the last quarter, almost thirty thirty five percent of the game,
thirty seven points. And what was really telling about those
thirty seven points is it wasn't like Arkansas had any
short fields. They didn't recover a fumble or intercept to
pass in Texas territory. They had to drive to since
for every single one of those thirty seven points, and
(23:03):
they kicked a couple of field goals. They should have
gone for it a couple times fourth and two, fourth
and three, and they settled for short field goals. So
they were moving the ball all game long. Here. Now
they're going to face a Texas A and M offense
might have a Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback, dual threat quarterback,
which yeah, Vanderbilt had in Arkansas had, but now I
(23:25):
mean A and M is going to let it all
hang out. They're looking for revenge because they were dominated
last year on their home field. I think they have
outside of Ohio State by far, the best receiving corps,
Casey Concepcion and Mario krab What have these two kids
done well? Just ninety nine receptions on the year, thirteen
(23:45):
combined touchdowns, and they're averaging almost sixteen and seventeen yards
a reception. Then all of a sudden, the last four
or five weeks, their third receiver, Ashton Bethel Roman come
out of nowhere five touchdowns and he's averaging almost twenty
five yards of reception. He's not going to get much
(24:08):
double coverage at all. So now you look at can
maybe Texas outscore Texas A and M. Well, their weakness
is their offensive line. I mean, early and often they
have been harassed and arch Manning has been put on
his back.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
A and M.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
Their defense, they have sacked the quarterback that defensive line
front seven thirty nine times. That's second in the nation here.
I think Texas A and M is better at pretty
much every position. I think even Mike Elko has an
edge here. As far as the coaching staff, I think
(24:47):
A and M is gonna be ready to go. They're
even bringing the core, I believe from what I'm hearing
to Texas and Austin. So I wouldn't be surprised if
thirty five forty percent of the crowd here at this
game is gonna be Texas A and M fans. Sometimes
you gotta lay it if you want to play it.
Even on the road. Texas A and M thirty eight
(25:08):
to thirty one.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
All right, an M holding off Texas preseason number one
to a team that would have four losses and probably
be lucky to end up in the Alamo Ball.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
What a disappointing year for Sark. Could end up being
a lot of reports out there he could maybe leaving
Austin sometime soon. So I'm gonna go to the NFL
and I'm gonna go down to your neck of the
Woods league and the Saints and the Dolphins, and you're
talking about the Saints arguably the worst team in the NFL.
Miami showed some life recently with that big blowout win
(25:45):
at home, putting up thirty points against Josh Allen and
the Buffalo Bills. And this game, I've been red hot
on player props, So I'm gonna give another one out here.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
The Saints are just arguably the worst team in the
NFL this side of Vegas or just pick all the
garbage teams are out there. Saints will be vying for
the number one pick. And you look at them on
the road. They give up a lot of rushing yards.
They had games in two out of three weeks, actually
three out of three weeks, they Saints just got gashed,
(26:21):
absolutely gash. But I'm talking about two out of three.
They went to Chicago, they gave a one hundred and
fourteen rushing yards to DeAndre Swift. They gave him one
hundred and twenty four rushing yards to Kyron Williams of
the Rams. And Devon h Chan, who has been a
guy that he's been a player prop fantasy football lover's dream.
(26:44):
He's averaging eighty two rushing yards a game. And the
one thing I noticed about him in the last two
weeks league is the fact that Mike McDaniel has got
given him more carries, which is something that I think
everybody in Miami's been waiting for. Take the ball out
of to his hand more often than not, and look
(27:06):
at what's happened Devon eighth Chan in his last two
weeks going against he went up against the Bills.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I mentioned that game. I had some receiving yards.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
But when you give Devonhchan the ball like he did
against Buffalo, twenty two carries one hundred and seventy four
yards against the Commanders twenty one carries one hundred and
twenty yards, well guess what he's gonna be getting a
least twenty carries in this game, and that total is
very attainable eighty and a half rushing yards, So I'm
gonna go over for Devon Eighthchan, the running back out
(27:41):
of Texas A and M. He's gonna have a big
day versus the Aints. Get the paper bags out for
their fans. If they even have any fans left, they
certainly won't be traveling. And I think he's gonna rush
for easily over one hundred and twenty yards in this game.
So bet that now and thank me later. Devonhan over
eighty and a half rushing yards. Let's stay in that
(28:02):
state lead for your next blowout pick with the Bucks
and the Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Yep. And most people are probably not gonna bet this game.
And why they're thinking, Well, Baker Mayfield may or may
not play in this game. I don't think it matters.
Caddy Bridgewater. He has taken almost no snaps this year.
Last year he was coaching in Miami, but this week
probably taking almost every single snap. So if he has
(28:29):
to go, I think he's going to perform. Well. He's
just one of these guys just needs to be in
a rhythm. He came off and had to play last
week cold, but he knows the game really well and
he knows how to dissect really bad defenses. And Arizona
is one of these defenses. They're put together with paper mache.
(28:50):
They're just trying to hold on here. They're on the field.
It seems like almost every single game, thirty five, thirty seven,
thirty eight minutes. Now they've got to travel cross country
for this game. Tampa Bay's had injuries, yeah, but all
of a sudden, except for Baker Mayfield, and he might play.
They are starting to get healthy. Their receiving corps. They
couldn't stretch the defense. All of a sudden, god Win's back.
(29:12):
They're starting to get healthy. Arizona, how bad are they?
Three and eight straight up, five and six against the
spread here? They just don't have the weapons push the
ball down the field here. And on top of that,
Tampa Bay played the toughest schedule. It's not even close.
They have easy, peasy schedule. I know they're sitting at
six and five straight up now, but they can go
(29:34):
on a big time run. So what you have is,
let's equate it to horse racing. When you have a
horse race, and you got a horse that was worked,
you know, sixty five seventy five thousand, and he's going
down in class facing a horse that was maybe sold
for ten thousand. He's gonna win eight out of nine,
at least eight out of ten times. Here, I'm taking
(29:55):
Tampa Bay. Let's lay the three points here, blow up,
all right?
Speaker 3 (29:59):
They need it, man, They have fallen on hard times recently.
There with the bucks they need, and Teddy Bridgewater is
a good backup. He's one of the better backups in
the NFL. Drew Lock of Seattle, Jimmy Garoppolo with the Rams.
But they've got they need a big win and the
only thing that they've been kind of the benefactors of
they play in arguably the worst division in football. So
(30:19):
you like, really, Carolina, we saw what happen to them
on Monday Night against the forty nine ers, and we
know the Falcons and Ain'ts are trash all right? Coming
up next the segment you've been winning for the Locks
for a special Thanksgiving Friday edition of Picking the Locks,
Mark James Lee Sterling Sports.
Speaker 2 (30:37):

Thank you very much the fine folks at Fan Duel
sportsbooksu quam Is Clearwater Casino Resort. It's the segment you've
all been waiting for. Don't forget coming up. This is
an extended edition of Picking Locks Today. We are gonna
(31:29):
take you right up until eleven thirty local time here
in Seattle to the pregame of Bears Eagles, which you
can hear right here on your home for the NFL
Westwood one Sports Radio ninety three three KJRFM. And we're
gonna have the Tag Team Challenge the pros me and
Lee Sterling versus the Joe's Softy and Dick. Winner basically
(31:50):
should get dinner and the losers should have to pay
for it. So that's pretty much what we're gonna do
coming up. Ten picks total verse their ten picks. They
can pick anyone's they want, We pick anyone's we want,
and that's basically how we're gonna do it. So looking
forward to that, and you are not gonna want to
miss this. We have not had those guys on our
show at all, so it'll be a fun, fun way
(32:11):
to cap off the best sports weekend of the year
and hopefully for you, the best sports gambling weekend of
the year. So now it's time for the Locks League.
I'm gonna start right now. And I gave it out
last week and boy did I nail that like you
wouldn't believe. Arkansas in Texas last weekend was over about
(32:33):
fifty seven and a half. Texas almost covered that on
their own. Well, Arkansas, Bobby Patrino, Taylor Green, they're at
home and they're gonna go all out. They named a
new head coach on Wednesday. Alex Golish is going to
Arkansas and he is going to take over for the
fired Sam Pittman and interim coach Bobby Patrino. But Arkansas
(32:57):
is gonna put up a lot of points. These guys
are gonna go out big time. I'm actually putting probably
I'm gonna put the most money up on this game myself.
That's how confident I am on this game Arkansas this
yearly on the over unders, they're eight and two.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (33:15):
I mean that is that's when you know you've got
an absolute winner here when a team is eight and two,
and I think that Bobby Petrino and Taylor Green, they're
gonna throw the kitchen sink at bow Prebulah and the
Missouri Tigers who lost a tough one last weekend to
Oklahoma and ruining any playoff chances that they had whatsoever.
(33:37):
So I'm going over here to fifty seven and a half,
no doubt about it. I'm betting it personally myself, which
I bet all the games like we both do personally ourselves.
Missouri as well this year they're six and four on overs.
But I mentioned Arkansas eight and two on overs, easy
over cover. Bet it now, wait for it, wait for it,
(34:00):
thank me later. Over fifty seven and a half Missouri
at Arkansas. My second lock of the week on picking
the locks, We're gonna go to Pittsburgh. Josh Allen, the
reigning MVP, and this team, wow, are they reeling after
that Thursday night loss to the Houston Texans.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Without CJ.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Stroud, they lost to Davis Mills and Buffalo turned the
ball over three times. They picked off Josh Allen twice.
Josh Allen, though, one thing about him, especially if you're
a player, prop player like myself or a Fantasy Football
League player, the one thing that you can rely on
(34:41):
for the Buffalo Bills is Josh Allen showing up every
single game and getting over his passing yard mark. He's
averaging two hundred and forty six passing yards per game.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
You look at he went over.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
I gave that out on my show MJY in the
midday in the game against Houston and he went over
that two hundred and fifty three. The game before that
three seventeen against the Bucks and a loss three to
ZH six against the Dolphins and two hundred and seventy
three at home and a huge win against the Chiefs. Well,
I don't respect this Pittsburgh Steelers secondary that defense is
(35:18):
actually one of the worst defenses in the National Football League,
not only pass defense, but total defense. Josh Allen, he's
gonna go on the road. He's gonna have a big game,
hopefully on the same field the day before that Carson
Beck has that big game, even though Lee went the
other way. I'm gonna go over on this one, Josh Allen.
Player prop over two hundred and thirty seven and a
(35:42):
half passing yards, easy cover.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
And I'll just say this.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Ahead of time, everybody out there listening, you're welcome. All right, Lee,
You've got some big blowouts ecculy to be some big
locks coming up this weekend. So we'll start it now
with you, and we go to ann Arburn, Michigan for
the big one between Ohio State and Michigan. Ohio State
having lost four straight years to the Wolverines.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Yeah, and kind of in a way piggybacking what you liked,
and the under in Michigan is you have to take
into account here the whole situation, what's going on Michigan.
So Justice Haines, your best running back kid who came
over from Alabama, clearly their most talented running back. He's big,
he's fast, he's strong, he's punishing well, not playing the game.
(36:31):
Their number two and number three running backs are fine,
they're backups, but they're also a little dinged up, so
it's not like they're going to be able to go
out there and score a lot. And then here's the
X factor, the reason why I'm playing the total snow.
There is over a seventy five percent chance it's going
to be snowing most weeks. Ohio State they play trash defenses.
(36:56):
And what do they do? They score thirty eight to
fifty points on a consistent basis. Now they have to
go on the road. Yep, it's a rivalry game. They
did nothing in the game last year against Michigan at home.
They have to go on the road in horrific conditions.
Playing in the snow. You might be able to run some,
but passing it is much much tougher. And they have
(37:20):
three speed guys. You know we're talking about Brandon Innis,
Carnel Tate, Jeremiah Smith. How good is he? Well, he
would have been the first pick last year, he would
have been the first pick this year if he was eligible,
And I'm telling you right now he'll be the first
pick next year. If he's played in snow maybe once.
(37:40):
That's a lot here. The kids from Miami, Florida. Trust me,
he doesn't want any part of that. So you have
two teams here, a lot on the line and also
slow pace of play. Both of these two teams are
in the bottom half in pace of play. So they
get off mid sixties play per game. They're not getting
(38:02):
off seventy seventy five or even approaching eighty plays like
some of these teams that play hurry up. They go
back in the huddle, they take their time, they get
the call off, the quarterback gets still aligned, and they
just don't snap it quick. They're looking to get the
right situation for their offense against the defense. So whether rivalry,
(38:23):
two solid defenses, and I mean Michigan, they got to
run the football. This Ohio of State defense holds opponents
to just two point six yards per carry. Here, I'm
going under forty four and a half total points Ohio
State Michigan as my first lock of the week. Second one,
we're gonna look at a college game, and we're gonna
(38:44):
look at a game between UTEP and you're saying U TEP,
they probably should have disbanded the program in Delaware, a
first year program that is five and six and you know,
kind of just playing out to string. Well maybe not
for Delaware. Delaware is five and six looking to get
(39:05):
to a bowl game. And then you look again, we
always talk about how people overreact to the last result.
They played Wake Forest. They went on the road and
lost fifty two to fourteen. But before that some not
so bad results here at home. Beat Louisiana Tech, also
beat Middle Tennessee. They also beat FIU, who is a
(39:29):
bowl team. By twenty two they beat Yukon, another bowl
team in overtime. So this is a team that I
believe is going to be able to have a decent
matchup here against UTEP. And you're like, well, UTEP, you
know that song down in the West Texas town of
(39:49):
l Pass.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Quarter by the way, Lee, I didn't know you could
say that's pretty good?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
Well in short, in short stretches, very short. So they
ended up with a five star quarterback. Kids started off
at two power schools and second one. You would have
thought he should have been able to start at Boise State.
Not the case. Now he lands at UTEP. They tried
(40:17):
him out for four or five games didn't work out,
went to the backup here and didn't work out here,
so they cannot defend the pass at all here. They
are going to have a problem because they're facing a
pass offense and Delaware ranked eighth in the country. They
lost by twelve to Utah State, who has the thirty
(40:39):
first pass offense. So, uh, don't take You've got to
forget what happened last week, have a short memory here.
UTEP is going from West West West Texas, basically on
the border with New Mexico and Mexico, all the way
to Delaware. That is a long, long flight for a
team that has absolutely no chance of making a bowl here.
(41:01):
So you want to talk about a lock, this is
a stone cold triple lock here. Delaware easy over UTEP
on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
All right, very nice, very nice.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
I'm gonna go back to the National Football League and
the team. I don't think anybody had this on their
Bengal cards, certainly not after week one.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
After they lost at home to Gino Smith in the Raiders.
The New England Patriots had ended up winning ten of
their next eleven games. They have won eight in a
row and they welcome in the New York Giants to
Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Monday Night football. Can we
(41:48):
get better? Can we start flexing?
Speaker 6 (41:50):
Now?
Speaker 3 (41:50):
Why are these games? Why are we getting trash games
on Monday night football?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Excuse me? Let me give credit to the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
They've won nine in a row, Lee, And guess what.
They have the coach of the year in Mike Rabel.
They might have the MVP at least the guy who's
the runner up right now to Matthew Stafford and Drake
May second year quarterback out of North Carolina. And they
got a guy in Josh McDaniels whose back where he
belongs as an OC and not a head coach. But listen,
(42:18):
this New England Patriots defense, they are nasty. They are
nasty like the Seattle Seahawks. They are nasty like the
Houston Texans and the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
And they welcome in.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
And I mean, if Jackson Dark plays, fine, I don't
really care. It doesn't really matter at this juncture because
this Patriots defense they right now are kicking ass Lee
and they're taking a lot of names. So from Monday
Night Football, I'm gonna do a little something different here.
I'm not usually big on this, but I'm gonna go
(42:54):
Patriots first half team total over.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
And a half points.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
I think that the Pats Drake May, Stefan Diggs, Trayveon Henderson,
Ramandre Stevenson who just came back recently, Hunter Henry thirteen
and a half points in the first half. They might
have that covered by the end of the first quarter.
So I'm going to go in this one, my third
and final lock the New England Patriots first half team
(43:24):
total over thirteen and a half points. Bet you talk
about Stone coal lie, let me tell you something, Master
Loock doesn't have enough security to guarantee how much I
love this game and the Patriots to get over thirteen
and a half total points in the first half. So Lee,
your next big one is has to do with the
(43:48):
Chicago Bears going to the City of Brotherly Love against
the Philadelphia Eagles, who blew that twenty one point lead
last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (43:59):
Yep, this is a game starting shortly and don't like it.
I love it. So Philadelphia up twenty one to nothing,
just rolling along against the Cowboys and knockross the Cowboys.
Cowboys season is pretty much over Philadelphia and the rest
of the season. They can just cruise along and then
(44:19):
what happened? They fell asleep. And sometimes you relax for
a second and you pay the price. And this team
has a lot of problems. I mean quarterback position, I
think Jalen Hurts and I'm gonna be kind is mediocre
at best. If he's on a bad team, I think
he's replaced by now. Outside of the Tush push, I mean,
(44:41):
the offense has been horrific this year. Look at Squon
Barkley done almost nothing, I mean not even average as
far as the other running backs and his peers. Receiving position,
mediocre at best. Injuries to the offensive line, and so
I can't trust your offense. Defensive wise, they have a
(45:02):
strength to two defensive tackles. They pushed the file, they
stopped the running game, and they make throwing the ball tough.
But Chicago in the offseason added some armory up front
for the first time ever free agency and also in trades.
Drew Dolman rated number three pro Football Focus center. Yeah,
(45:23):
two guards Joe Toney and also Jonah Jackson number ten
and twelve by Football Focus. Here we're gonna go with
a check Caigo bears here three they might even win
this game outright here it's my third and last and
final lock. It's Cargo Bears plus seven.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
All right, coming up next. So there's our locks for
the weekend.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
You got it.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
You can also here if you missed this show, you
can listen to the podcast as soon as the show
is over coming. Up next, the tag Team Challenge the
pros Me and Lee versus the Joe, Softy and Dick
on Picking Locks Sports Radio ninety three to three KJR
at them. Don't go anywhere?
Speaker 1 (45:57):
Are you looking for a lock this weekend? You've come
to the right place. Now back to Picking the Locks
with Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought to you by
the FanDuel Sports Book at so Quamish Clearwater Casino Resort
on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
It's Picking the Locks, brought to you by Fan Duel
Sportsbooks to Quamash Clearwater Casino Resort. I am your host
MJ from MJ to the Midday ten am, the one
DM on Seattle Sports Leader ninety three three KJRFM, along
with the great Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports dot Com.
And no introduction need, but we'll give it to him anyway.
The afternoon show for decades and decades. Here Softy in Dick,
(46:36):
we have a tag team challenge kind of the pros
that Lee and I consider us to be versus the
Joe Softy in Dick.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
So saft Are you ready?
Speaker 4 (46:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (46:44):
I'm ready, man, I'm just really thankful to be on
this program, cutting edge stuff that you and Lee bring
to the table every single Friday. I mean, starting with
the name picking the locks Man, you guys really went
overboard with that creativity marketing apartment at iHeart where they
went nuts to give you something unbelievably memorable to name
(47:04):
this freaking show. So you know what, Dick, I gotta
be honest with you, man, For as miserable as you
and I are every day from three to seven, it
can always be worse. Imagine having to do this show
every Friday, my friend.
Speaker 6 (47:15):
Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (47:16):
And I like how Mark threw his own name in
with the pros side. I mean, I think Lee is
actually a thirty five year pro of this. You know
Mark's been doing it for like two weeks.
Speaker 3 (47:27):
Oh well year, many many years, man, many many years.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
All right, all right for you you're sitting here working
with us, man, Holy cat, I know I know that.
Here you go, there you go, doll their mansion in
South Florida. He's driving a Ferrari, his wife's Lamborghin, his
kids to private school. Did you see the bill for
his daughter's wedding and his other daughter's bar mitzvah, mitzvah
for taking a million bucks a week, and you're sitting
(47:53):
here making ten bucks an hour.
Speaker 6 (47:55):
I know some pro you are.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
I know that's true. You're I can't argue there.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
All right, So we're gonna each guy is gonna get
top five. So it's gonna be go be Lee Dick Softy.
So I'm gonna start it off. We're gonna go style.
Points matter in November. I'm gonna gonna provo Utah BYU
seven to three against the numbers, Kialani Sitzaki going up
against garbage UCF. They're three and seven against the number.
(48:20):
I'm laying the points big time. I'm taking the Koogs
seventeen and a half. I don't care if it was
twenty three and a half. I'm going Koog's blowout. All right, Lee,
you're next.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
All right, I'm gonna look and I'm gonna take Georgia Tech.
Everybody loves Georgia. Everyone thinks Georgia is automatically and they're
gonna be maybe a top four seed. People remember what
they saw last Georgia just destroying teams. They played like
Texas at home, but they gotta go on the road.
This is a rivalry game. I think Georgia tech This
(48:53):
sets up perfectly. They lost last week, they trailed twenty
eight to nothing, but they did show some fight. I
think that they have a capable offense here. I'm taking
the fourteen points here. They might lose a game, but
they're not losing by more than two touchdowns at home,
even to Georgia.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
All right, dig your up, I'm going to the NFL guys.
Speaker 5 (49:15):
I do not understand why the numbers so short in Tampa.
I understand Baker Mayfield may not play, but even if
he doesn't, you know who is playing, and that's Teddy
covers Bridge. Watching Buccaneers minus three against Arizona, they're just
the lines basically saying Tampa Bay's.
Speaker 6 (49:32):
The same team as Arizona.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (49:33):
I've seen both those teams. I don't think they're the
same football team. I think Tampa is a clearly cut
above the Arizona Cardinals.
Speaker 7 (49:40):
All right, I'm gonna go the exact opposite of what
Lee just did. I gotta be honest with you, leeh
you're kind of losing your mind here a little bit, man.
I mean, I think the game has maybe passed your bypal.
Maybe those football games you played back in high school
in college you took too many hits to your freaking noggin.
Because Georgia may have the best resume in America. They
got three over top nineteen teams right now. Nobody else
(50:03):
has done that. Georgia Tech last week, as you said,
pasted by Pittsburgh. Georgia's looking to climb the rankings. I'm
gonna go the opposite the league and take the Bulldogs
minus to thirteen and a half in Atlanta against Georgia Tech.
I think Georgia might be the best team in America.
Speaker 3 (50:18):
Mark Wow, All right, softie, you know what you could
be right and I can tell you this. They have
the he's dirty as hell. They got the best coach
in America. All right, I'm gonna go player prop here. Next, guys,
I'm gonna go down to right near not too far
from where Lee lives. Uh We hopefully there'll be a
game that'll be transpiring on Saturday. But I'm talking about
the game on Sunday. Devon eight Chan, and I look
(50:40):
at you going up against the Aints. There are gonna
be the worst team in the NFL. He can put
the paper bags over their eight fans left in there
and their entire fan base. But I don't know if
any of them will travel to Miami on Sunday. And
guess what, Mike McDaniel figure it out. If I give
the ball to Devon eighth Chan, he can act for
over twenty carries. He can actually get over one hundred yards.
(51:03):
He's done that the last two weeks against this garbage team.
And plus you take the ball out of to his hands,
that's a good thing. Devon achan player prop over eighty
and a half rushing yards.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
Lee.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
All right, I'm gonna take a total here. Public loves
Ohio States offense, but what can slow him down? Michigan defense,
which last year played a whale of a game, won
that game thirteen to ten. On the road, defense travels
and they're going to run the football. Both teams slow
(51:37):
pace of play bottom thirty pace of play, middle sixties
total plays. They get off here, and what's the defining
factor snow over seventy five percent chance of snow under
forty four and a half total points Ohio State Michigan.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
Love that call, I was.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
I was thinking about that one, but I'm gonna go
with another under.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (51:58):
It's one I did for Factor fiction this week. I
just think the two best units on the field at
Husky Stadium are the Oregon defense in the Washington defense.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
I'm not a full believer in Dante More.
Speaker 5 (52:11):
I do believe in DeMont Williams.
Speaker 4 (52:12):
But I've seen DeMont Williams.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
Against elite to very good defenses and it does not
look good. So I'm gonna go with the under fifty
three and a half Washington Oregon.
Speaker 7 (52:22):
All right, I'll go back to college football before I
grace you with all my great NFL selections. I'm gonna
go with Pittsburgh in the points against Miami this weekend
at home. You saw what Pittsburgh did to Georgia Tech
last weekend. That place is gonna be freaking rocking. Mark,
you were telling me off the air in a private
moment that you think Miami's kind of a fraud.
Speaker 6 (52:43):
I did.
Speaker 7 (52:45):
Crystball. You think the whole team is full of clowns.
Speaker 4 (52:48):
Man.
Speaker 7 (52:48):
So you did call them paper tigers on the air
the other day. And let's face it, Miami has not
really beaten anybody since they played Notre Dame. Haven't played
anybody since Week one. Okay, guys, So I'm taking Pitts
plus the six and a half against Miami.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Well, I did not say that, but I will say this.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
Miami does have the game day dumbass as a head coach,
Mario Christobal, and anytime you have that, you get Mario
to handicaps the team. So I don't anticipate things going
well at what heinz Field to where the hell they're
calling that these days?
Speaker 2 (53:18):
All right, I'm gonna go back to college.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Coming up in Arkansas, they just named Alex Gullish their
new head coach out of USF and I think it's
a great hire. But Boby Vitrino and Taylor Green, they
put up points last week. I gave you the over
on Arkansas and Texas. Texas almost covered the total by themselves.
Well guess what Arkansas this year? Guys, They're eight and
two on overs and Missouri bot Perbulah and Eli Drinkwitz
(53:43):
they're gonna put up some points.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
To fifty seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
That'll they'll probably combine for about forty three points by halftime.
I'm going over fifty seven and a half Miszoo at
Arkansas Lee.
Speaker 4 (53:57):
All right, my third play is gonna be Delaware Blue Hens.
So you're saying, how do you pick a team again
another team? Softy just falls in love with what he
saw last week. Problem here is things change one week now.
Utep that last week played a close game. They played Delaware.
(54:18):
They got to get on a plane in El Paso, Texas,
which is on the border of New Mexico and also Mexico.
That's a little geography lesson there, Softy, And they got
to travel to Delaware and they got to play a
top five passing team. They have one of the worst
pass defenses. They're already on a backup quarterback here. They're
(54:40):
not going to a bowl. Delaware wins this game. They're
six and six. They're going to a bowl, lay to four,
they win by double digits.
Speaker 5 (54:49):
All right, guys, I think the Rams are coming off
two big games, obviously the win over Seattle and then
a Monday night crushing of Tampa Bay. I just think
this is the at its absolute peak value right now,
and I just think they sleep walk to a win
on the other side of the country against Carolina.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Carolina was embarrassing on Monday night, and.
Speaker 5 (55:12):
They Carolina just needs to give the ball to Rico Dawdle,
which they did six times in that game. In that game,
I think Dave Canalis learns his lesson here. I think
they're looking for a low scoring game. You look at
the over under at forty four.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
And a half.
Speaker 5 (55:24):
Ten and a half is a big number for a
low total like that. Give me Carolina plus ten and
a half at.
Speaker 7 (55:30):
Home against all Right, the son of a bitch. That
was on my list too. I wanted Carolina plus the points.
Do I not get to take Carolina now, Mark, because.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
No, no, no, go for it. No, you can do it,
you can do well.
Speaker 7 (55:41):
I mean I was gonna take Carolina plus the points
as well, because I think the Rams are due for
a third. I agree with Dick. I think they're playing
above their heads. They're a very good football team, but
they are dominating teams right now. Saints last game they
played at home, you guys, remember what happened was that
seventeen to seven loss to the freaking Saints two weeks ago.
Speaker 6 (56:00):
Okay, that's proofly by the way, I don't just look
at what happened this week.
Speaker 7 (56:03):
I look at what happened two weeks ago, two seventeen
to seven loss for Carolina at home. I think ten
and a half is way too big of a number
going on the road coming off that big win Sunday night,
a little bit of a shorter week for Carolina for
the Rams with the game on Sunday, going from turf
to grass.
Speaker 6 (56:20):
I'm with Dick. I like the Panthers and the points
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
All right, that's good, all right.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
This is picking Locks, brought to you by fan Duel
Sportsbook Suquamash Clearwater Casino Resort, along with Softy and Dick
our guests of honor. It's me and Lee Sterling here.
This is good stuff here. All right, I'm gonna go.
I'm in red hot on player props so he can
attest to that. Last weekend, I had Jamiir Gibbs, Jared
Goff and Aman Raw Saint Brown and one guy. And listen,
(56:46):
this team right now, they are at a crossroads. I
believe if the playoffs start today, well they're right there
the seventh seed. Who would have thought that the Buffalo
Bills going in the week thirteen guys would be the
seventh seed and the Chiefs would be on the outside
looking in. But that's exactly where we're at right now.
But the one thing that is the constant is the
reigning defending MVP Josh Allen. He puts up yards, he
(57:10):
puts up points in his last four games, even against
that great Texans defense and the loss two hundred and
fifty three passing yards three seventeen against the Bucks, three
to zero six against the Dolphins, two seventy three against
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. In that win, Josh Allen
the number two, thirty seven and a half against a
piss poor Pittsburgh defense. It's a lot of p's there
(57:31):
for a literation, I'm going over for the MVP, Josh
Allen two thirty seven and a half passing yards. Bet
it now, wait for it, wait for it, thank me laterly.
Speaker 4 (57:46):
All right, I'm gonna piggyback basically what you're looking at here,
Josh Allen is gonna go over to him in thirty
seven and a half passing yards. Why because he's gonna
be trailing Pittsburgh Steelers here, so doesn't matter to me
who plays quarterback. I thought Mason Rudolph played well except
for that one interception and fumble moving the team here.
I think that this Buffalo team, their heart and soul
(58:08):
is taken out. They gave up eight sacks. That's right,
eight sacks, Josh Allen. They lost three starters on defense.
It might be out for this game. Their heart and
soul is out here. I'm taking Pittsburgh plus to three
and a half.
Speaker 5 (58:22):
All right, what goes up must come down, and that's
the stock of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 4 (58:26):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (58:27):
Daniel Jones does not looking the same in the month
of November than he has in the months of September
and October. And the Houston Texans have won six of
their last eight games. They started the season zero and three.
They have won six of their last eight. They are
a legitimate division championship contenders because they've got the Colts twice.
Speaker 6 (58:50):
They need to beat them twice.
Speaker 5 (58:52):
I think they win this one straight up, and I'm
getting plus four and a half at Indianapolis. Give me
the best, arguably the defense in the AFC going up
against Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (59:04):
Give me the Texans.
Speaker 6 (59:05):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (59:05):
I love this because I also had that game, the
exact same one, but the other side.
Speaker 6 (59:11):
I like the Colts. I'm gonna take the Colts. I'm
gonna go.
Speaker 7 (59:13):
Directly against Dick. I don't like Dick. I'm going I'm
going the opposite of Dick. Okay, I'm given four and
a half. Here's the reason why Indianapolis came off and
a heartbreaking loss over time to the Chiefs over the weekend.
They're six and zero at home. Exactly what Dick just said.
The Texans are six and two and their last eight
games they're due for a fall. The Colts have lost
(59:36):
two of their last three by a combined ten total
points to Pittsburgh in Kansas City.
Speaker 6 (59:41):
I think the opposite.
Speaker 7 (59:42):
I think it's time for the Colts to regroup and
shine where they haven't lost at home all year. Give
me the Colts minus the points against Houston.
Speaker 2 (59:49):
Oh wow, I like that. Look at this Lee, Softy
and Dick.
Speaker 3 (59:53):
They're they're going opposite here, the Safti feting his own
co host.
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
I like it. Well, that's why they call it the
clown Show Afternoon Show.
Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Oh no.
Speaker 5 (01:00:13):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Shots fired Softy. You're gonna take that like Robertsoner, You're
gonna take this.
Speaker 7 (01:00:18):
I'll just say this first of all, the clown show
of record that you've been begging to come on every
day for twenty five years and promote your business every
single Friday.
Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
You know what. The reason why you live in that
mansion down there is because of mate.
Speaker 4 (01:00:32):
You know that? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:00:33):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
I like it, all right, very cloud show. After nutely
I did expect you to come like that today. All right,
all right, I'm gonna go to Monday Night and the Softy.
Can we flex these Sunday Night and Monday Night games?
We got the Broncos and Commanders and then we got
the Patriots and Giants?
Speaker 6 (01:00:52):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
It's it's it's the almost December. We got this crap
on Sunday Night and Monday Night. Come on, man, give
me a break, well listen didn't have. After losing to
Gino Smith and the Raiders at home in Week one,
the New England Patriots to win ten of their next
eleven games, nine in a row. They're the only team
with double digit wins going into Week thirteen, and Drake
(01:01:14):
May is red hot Giants have the worst rushing defense
in the NFL, the third worst total defense in the league.
So what I'm gonna do here, and I'm not really
big on this, but I think Monday Night they're gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Be all sauced up and lick it up and go
and wick it had and patting at Gillette. I'm gonna go.
Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
With the Pats first half team total over thirteen and
a half points. I don't care if Jamis is playing.
I don't care if they bring back Phil Simms. It
doesn't matter. The Patriots right now. I don't think they're
the best team in the NFL, but they have the
best record, and they're red hot, and they have the
coach of the year. So I'm gonna go Pats lee
(01:01:53):
first half team total over thirteen and a half points.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
Well, let's look at at what Dave and his little
partner we're doing. As we were starting to show a
little over an hour, So there's there. They're sitting in
the bullpen, and two of their first four selections they
copy I was main enough to go against my Miami Hurricanes.
I get out the pit pitt Panthers plus the seven.
(01:02:22):
So they basically regurgitated what I said, then Dick picks
out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Do you really think these
two guys know any teams east of the Mississippi. Nah,
all they know is PAC twelve teams, former PAC twelve teams,
and a little bit now Big ten teams. So I'm
gonna look at my final game here, and if they
(01:02:45):
picked their side or opposite me, you know they're cheating
and I'm gonna take the Washington Commanders. And why am
I taking the Washington Commanders. Well, let's look at the
Denver Broncos. Denver Broncos last three games. Yep, they beat
the Chase twenty two, They beat the Raiders and probably
the worst Thursday Night game I may have ever seen
(01:03:06):
on Thursday Night football, ten to seven. Then they beat
the Texans eighteen to fifteen, twenty two, ten and eighteen points.
They're gonna be without their Cup running back JK. Dobbins.
They should have kept Williams. They had him. What do
they think, Oh, he didn't have a great year. Well,
he had acl surgery. It takes like two years to
(01:03:27):
come back from that. People know their playbook inside out.
Their defense is great, but the bottom line is another
cross country game here, non common opponent they're not used
to seeing. Here, Washington's getting back some of their receivers here,
six and half points. There's a lot to lay on
the road here. I'm going with the Washington commanders. Let's
(01:03:50):
see if they copy you're my last selection here? All right?
Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
Oh, I was gonna copy your first selection in the
Michigan olsu under.
Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
But I'll go on.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
But the little partner, I think that's what.
Speaker 4 (01:04:03):
I was referred to.
Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
Also on my own and put my big boy pants on.
And I can't get over what I saw Texas A
and M do a couple of weeks ago when I
just watched them. They look like a bottom twenty team
in college football, getting down thirty to three in that game. Yeah,
handed to them.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
They came back and won.
Speaker 4 (01:04:24):
But give me.
Speaker 5 (01:04:25):
The Texas Longhorns needing a win to get into the
college football playoffs. I think they do get into the
college football playoffs with a win, and they're getting points
at home for one week. I'll be a believer in Arch.
Give me Texas plus the points.
Speaker 6 (01:04:41):
All right. First of all, he talks about.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
Hold on, hold on, softie, plus the points.
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
You gotta say the points, Dick two and a half
or three.
Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
Well, I'll take three. You're gonna get oh, no.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Two and a half. Two and a half, all right,
you got two and a half.
Speaker 6 (01:04:53):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
I go softie, he goes, plus the points. Come on.
Speaker 6 (01:04:56):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:04:57):
First of all, two things Number one least said, we
don't know squad about or don't talk about teams that
are east of the Mississippi, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Carolina, Indianapolis.
Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Lee.
Speaker 7 (01:05:06):
Why don't you take a couple of bucks of that
thirty thousand dollars a year salary you make down there
and by yourself a freaking map.
Speaker 6 (01:05:12):
Number one.
Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
Okay, Number two, I wouldn't copy any of your picks
because they're also stupid. I don't want to embarrass myself
on the radio, especially on the day after Thanksgiving.
Speaker 6 (01:05:21):
That's number two. Number three, I like the Niners.
Speaker 7 (01:05:24):
Given the four and a half against the Browns at Cleveland,
Shador Sanders was all cocky. You may have seen this
guy's walking off the field where he said, hey, man,
I practice for a week and I won a game.
And then he goes into the postgame press conference market
he says, nobody cares how much I practice. It's almost
like a media person got to him and told him
to be freaking humble for God's sake. So this is
a different animal this weekend with the Niners. I like
(01:05:47):
Brock Purty coming off the three pick game a week ago.
I think he plays better San Francisco against Shadure. If
you would have told somebody over the offseason the Niners
are only giving four and a half against the Browns
and Shador and you would have run with that, I'm
gonna take it.
Speaker 6 (01:06:02):
Give me San Francisco minus the points.
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Wow, Yeah, I like that. Yeah is Shdur Sanders.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
And by the way, considering his his one touchdown pass
was his sixty six yard screen pass that he's gonna
take credit for like he was Joe Montana in the
Super Bowl. So, I you know, I can't believe we
did this. We did our picks within twenty minutes. We
got a couple of minutes to go. We're gonna send
it to the pregame of Westwood One between the Bears
and Eagles coming up today at the Link in the
(01:06:29):
City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia. So tag team challenge, all right,
Lee and I I'm gonna be going down to Miami
at the end of Deceummer. Softy, we look forward to
you and Dick paying for our dinner at Joe Stone Crab.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Okay, thank you very much for that.
Speaker 6 (01:06:42):
Yeah, that's a high class joint for you guys.
Speaker 7 (01:06:44):
I know you're used to McDonald's and Jack in the
Box man, so you might want to actually put some
pants on and wear it and wear a shirt with
long sleeves for that one mark.
Speaker 6 (01:06:52):
That's a classy place.
Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
Oh, I know, I know, and Lee and I we
don't even Lee tell this guy. When we go through
the may or, d just goes right to sway, sir, right,
We don't even stop, We don't evenly, just go right.
Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
To our table.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
I'm one of maybe fifteen people. I don't even break stride.
Most people wait two to three hours. I do not
break stride. They see me round the corner and I
go straight to my table and it's the VIP table.
So good job, Dave and Dick. Uh, you copied a
couple plays you went. You went with some plowes going
(01:07:26):
for or against your rivals. You know of the Seahawks,
the forty nine ers, the Rams. We get it. So
good try. I'm not gonna make any apologies for walking
around three hundred and sixty five days and sandals so
not not not going to be me. I'll enjoy my
dinner Stone Crabs, I have Hash Browns. I'm gonna have well.
Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Don't forget the key lime pie. Don't forget the key
lime pie.
Speaker 6 (01:07:53):
D late late, that's gonna wash it down.
Speaker 7 (01:07:56):
There's a reason why they let you in as easy
as they do, because it's they're nice to the uderly
in Miami because they know you make up ninety five
percent of the population down there.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
That's very good, all right. For the great Softy and Dick.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
You can listen to their show you know the time
three to seven every day on Sports Radio ninety three
to three k JRFM MJ in the midday ten am
the one pm. And for Lee Sterling, we hope everybody
has a great Thanksgiving weekend. I want to say this too.
Go Huskies, Go Hawks, right, Go Huskies, Go Hawks. And
Lee well, I'm preparing for the worst, but go Caines anyway.
(01:08:32):
We will see you next week next Friday. Thanks to Softy,
Dick and Lee Sterling right here on picking the locks
