Speaker 1 (00:00):
Your home for college football Saturdays and the NFL presents
Picking the Loves with Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought
to you by the fan Duel Sports Book at Suquamash
Clearwater Casino Resort. We're getting you ready for the weekends
games with Lee Sterling. Here's your host, Mark James.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Picking the Locks.
It is Friday, October seventeenth. Picking the Locks brought to
you by the FanDuel Sportsbook at Suquamas Clearwater Casino Resort,
Mark James from mj in the Midday and Sports Radio
ninety three to three kjr FM, Seattle Sports Leader, along

(00:43):
with the best sports any kapper in America.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Lee Sterling. We have an action pack.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Show here for you this week, as we do every week,
but we're feeling we're feeling really bullish about our picks
this week.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
So Lee, let's just start with what.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
A weekend not one, not two, not three, not four,
five rank games. We got Tennessee Alabama number eleven, Tennessee
at number six, Alabama number five, Ole Miss at number nine,
Georgia number ten, LSU at number seventeen.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Vanderbilt.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
By the way, check this out This is the first
time that Vanderbilt has been a favorite in an SEC
game since nineteen seventy eight.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Can you believe that time?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
It's shocking, but just shows you, you know, how quick
things can shape who who would thought that Indiana would
be a contender? And now they're throwing money to resign
their coach. And you don't have to be in Florida
or Texas or California anymore. If you got money and
you got backers, you can entice kids to play anywhere nowadays.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, Kurt Signetti's making every buddy forget that Indiana's a
basketball school, you know, like other schools like Kentucky and
Arkansas and as Bill Belichick's finding out North Carolina, those.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Are basketball schools. So we got that. And then this
could be maybe the final ever meeting in the regular
season USC at Notre Dame number twenty Trojans at South
Bend against the number thirteen fighting Irish League. Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Could you imagine if they ended that game, which has
been a staple to college football blue bloods, ending that rivalry.
I would actually, as much as I hate Notre Dame,
I would hate to see that rivalry end me too.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I mean, I can remember games going all the way
back in the sixties. You know, I remember Oj Simpson
playing there to start off in twenty years ago. Teams
like just yesterday Reggie Bush, you know, pushing him into
the end zone. So time flies quickly. But one of
the greatest rivalries of all time.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yup, and then the Utah Utes number twenty three in
on the road at BYU. It's a provo right BYU,
some provo number fifteen. Cougar's Klonie Sataka. He is, he's
an amazing coach, and he's done a really good job.
But you're going against obviously Kyle Whittingham and that Utah

(03:23):
youth seem Klonie Sataki. Excuse me, I don't want to
get that wrong, all right, Lee, So let's jump right
into it. We always start off the week with our
underdog segment, and this is something where you know, we
like to just kind of, you know, see what we
can do on the guys that are on that side

(03:44):
of the ledger that are getting points. So for you,
let's start with you, Georgia Tech versus Duke.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
This is a crazy line.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Georgia Tech ranked undefeated getting points one and a half.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah, and Duke is improved over the last couple of years.
There's no denying that very good quarterback. But I have
some real concerns about their defense. They were outgained by
one hundred and seventeen yards in their win against North
Carolina State. They allowed cal to score three touchdowns in
the first three possessions of their game. They've given up

(04:24):
now thirty three points to NC State and this game
is at home, and at home they gave up thirty
four points to two Lane and forty five to Illinois.
I just don't think they have a whole lot of
depth on the defensive side of the ball. They can't
rotate the defensive linemen and enough to keep them fresh.
And what we're seeing the third and fourth quarter, they're
tiring out and these teams that have talent on offense

(04:46):
are making them pay. Georgia Tech is a completely different
animal on offense that they faced. Haines King probably one
of the best running quarterbacks that we'll see. I mean,
he's already rushed for almost four hundred fifty yards. He's
averaging over five yards of carry and has run for
nine touchdowns. This game is huge. People don't realize. Everyone

(05:08):
thinks oh Miami is going to be in the ACC
championship game, but already Georgia Tech, Duke, and Virginia are
sitting at three and zero, SMU is two, and oh
Miami has most of their schedule left to play in
the ACC. So whoever wins this game is going to
have a commanding lead, and whoever loses, because you've got

(05:28):
sixteen teams in this conference, is going to be behind
the eight ball here. I just think Georgia Tech has
better talent. I like their coaching staff better. I don't
think it's that big of an advantage playing the game
in Duke. They've already lost two games there. I'm gonna
go with Georgia Tech. Wrong team favored. Georgia Tech wins
this game thirty four to twenty six.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Well, speaking of wrong team favored, yeah, and that's one
right there. I've got one. I tell you what, man,
and I don't have you know any time to the
Auburn Tigers and Hugh Freeze or whatever, but has there
been a more wronged program in the country in terms
of horrific calls this year than the Auburn Tigers. Go

(06:14):
back to the beginning of the season when they played
their former quarterback, Jackson Arnold, and excuse me, Jackson Arnold
played his former team Oklahoma. They go on the road
and Jackson Arnold, they got screwed by three calls.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
The SEC came out and admitted it.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Then, of course, with Auburn last weekend pick one, I
mean Sean McDonough, the play by play announce was going crazy.
Kirby Smart literally calls the time out and then he
goes and convinced the refs. He was clapping his hands
and they gave it to him. Auburn has gotten screwed
out of two games this year that I can look

(06:53):
at Oklahoma and Georgia and I'll tell you what. Right now,
they're gonna take it out this weekend. They're getting one
and a half at home. That is a night game
at Jordan Hare Stadium. Give me you freeze, give me
Jackson Ardold and one of the best receivers in the country,
Camp Coleman. I think Auburn normally I'd put them in

(07:16):
a blowout or a lock, but they are an underdog.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
You like to say wrong team favored. Yeah, Missouri is
a favorite.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
In this game, War Eagle and the Tigers win big time.
You don't even need the points. Give me Auburn on
the money line, forget the points. They win that pig
lee your next game. Very interesting, UNLV. They're six in
oh and yet they're a twelve and a half point

(07:44):
underdog at Boise State.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
How has that happened?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Well, it's happened here because Boise State in the Smurf turf,
one of the toughest places to play, as we all know,
and I just think right now Boise is beating the
really bad teams, but against anyone good, they're just not
able to get any line of a big, easy margin here.

(08:11):
And the problem here is they don't have playmakers. You
look at the quarterback running back position, as we know
Ashton Genti's moved on to the NFL, and also the
receiver position, they don't have guys that are going to
be playing in the NFL. So when you have that situation,
long drives, you're going to see eight, ten, twelve play

(08:31):
drives and you can't have penalties, you can't turn the
ball over. But against anyone good, Notre Dame after their
first touchdown mid second quarter, nothing against South Florida after
scoring early, absolutely nothing. UNLV is just not afraid here.
I know they lost both games close last year to

(08:51):
boy To, but BOYD was a much better team last year.
This UNLB team with Mullinser coach, they're more offensive. I
mean they're letting it all hang out here, taking chances
on offense, and their special teams are coming up. So
many people forget about special teams, they just look at
offense defense. A couple of weeks ago against Wyoming, two

(09:12):
special teams touchdowns. So they do things really well in
all three facets of the game here. So UNLV the
weather should be fine. It's not like they're playing in
a late November in a snowstorm here. They've got speed,
They're playing on the smurt turf. I think they've got
more weapons here than Boise. I'm going to take to
twelve points. I think this game goes down to the wire.

(09:35):
I think you want to grab all the points you
can here as early as possible. U NLB takes Poise
State right down to the wire.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
All right, you had a good one last night.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
You took the Cincinnati Bengals plus five and a half
at home.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
They didn't even need the points.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Joe Flacco continues to be a thorn in Mike Tomlin's side.
You gave that out to your customers at Paramount sports
dot com and they can call your number one eight
hundred four hundred nine.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
So you were money last week.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
And uh, you know, it's one thing about Joe Flaco, man,
this guy just gets better with age.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
It's it's really truly remarkable to watch him.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
And he just got traded to Cincinnati about less than
two weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
All Right, So here's one's taking place. I'll be at
the game.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
It'll be a and this is a late start for
everybody across the country. But the Texan Seahawks game is
on Monday night football.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Now here's one of the interesting things about this game.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
And it is a doubleheader because the Bucks are playing
the Detroit Lions in Detroit that night. But the Texan Seahawks,
that is an actual late start here. That's that's gonna
be a ten o'clock Eastern Standard time start, but it's
gonna be seven o'clock here in Seattle. Number one defense

(10:57):
in the NFL allowing twelve points to game. The Houston
Texans coach by Tamiko Ryans, daneil Hunter, Will Anderson, Junior,
Darryl Stingley Junior.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
They are loaded well.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
They're going up against one of the best defenses in
the country in the Seattle Seahawks under Mike McDonald. They
Seahawks have only had one letdown defensively all season. It
was two weeks ago against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home.
I was at that game. But this is gonna be
a defensive struggle on both sides of the ball. Points
will be very tough to come by. I believe it'll

(11:30):
be a field goal type game. And it was a
field goal type game and that Bucks Seahawks game until
Clint Goobiac Seahawks offensive coordinator decided to stupidly have Jalen
Milrow comes in the game cold pitch it to Kenny Walker.
He fumbles, Bucks recover the ball and then they score

(11:50):
a touchdown and then the floodgates were open offensively after that.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
This is gonna be a type game.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Just so you know, this game started out and man,
I'm kicking myself now, Lee, Oh my lord. This game
started out at forty four and a half and forty five.
It's down a forty one and a half right now.
I don't feel as strong as I did earlier in
the week. But I'm still gonna go because I'm a

(12:18):
master on totals. Give me the under on this game.
This is an undergame. Texans can't score. They've one of
the worst offenses in the NFL. They might have the
worst O line in the NFL. You saw what the
Seahawks did last week to Trevor Lawrence, sacking him seven times.
I think he's gonna be a low scoring game. Hawks
will win this game their minus three, but give me

(12:39):
the under. So that under is trending way down, So
for me lee on that one. I'm loving what I'm
seeing so far, and I'm a little nervous. Do you
think am I still chasing it right there? Because it
was forty four and a half and now it's down
a forty one forty one and a half.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Oh, I think you're still on the right side. Remember
offensive line. I mean, I don't know what they're playing
here is, but you know CJ. Stroud has just been
running for his life. The only time he's not running
for his life when he's facing defenses and teams that
can't play defense. So Seattle, as we know, can play
some defense here. You know this might be one of
those games where it's thirteen to ten. So both teams

(13:19):
do have weapons, but you've got to have offensive lines
to be able to protect the quarterback, and neither offensive
line is even close to the top half this year
in the NFL, when you greade each player.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
No doubt, and hey, listen, this is going to be
you know, every weekly is when it comes to gambling,
and you know this, You've been doing this thirty two years.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
It's an anthology, it's not a continuum.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
So if the team one week like the Seahawks looks
the defense got absolutely annihilated by Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers, well,
Baker Mayfield has twelve touchdowns, one interception.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Odds on favorite right now to win the MVP.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
So from that standpoint, but you never know, the following
week things change. The New England Patriots were struggling in
the beginning of the year. They lost that home to Pittsburgh.
What do they do the next two weeks They go
on the road to Buffalo beat what a lot of
people thought could be a Super Bowl team that could
be representing the AFC with Josh Allen. Now they've lost

(14:19):
to in a row and the Patriots now are in
first place all themselves.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
All right.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Coming up next, what we do each and every week
in case you're just joining us for the first time,
we will do our blowouts. That's right, our blowouts. So
you are listening right here to Picking the Locks, brought
to you by fan dual sportsbook Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.
Right here on the flagship for Picking the Locks with

(14:43):
MJY and The Midday from Sports Radio ninety through three KJRFM,
Seattle Sports Leader and Lea Stirling from Paramount Sports. Right here,
we'll get to blowouts next. On picking the locks. Don't
go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Are you looking for a lock this weekend? You've come
to the place. Now back to picking the Locks with
Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought to you by the
FanDuel Sports Book atsu Quamish Clearwater Casino Resort on Sports
Radio ninety three point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
All right, now it's time for our second better known
as blowouts.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
See here on picking the locks with Mark.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
James, MJ the Midday from Seattle Sports Leader ninety three
to three KJRFM, and Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports dot Com.
Picking the Locks is brought to you by FanDuel Sports
Book at Sukuamas Clearwater Casino Resort. Lee lead us off
for this blowout segment and tell it and believe me,
you got we got nothing but time here, so don't rush.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Okay, all right. So I'm looking at the Indiana Michigan
State game and Jonathan Smith, the second year coach at
Michigan State, came over from Oregon State, and boy did
he do a lot of selling. He told me he's
gonna bring over Aiden Shiles and they're gonna be a
contending team in the Big Ten anything. But that has

(16:03):
happened since now in the first year young player. Okay,
maybe needs to learn, but what we're seeing is more
the same and continues to throw interception after interception. Now
on top of that, he's been injured the last two weeks.
Hasn't even been able to finish either game here. And
this is a team that you know they move between

(16:25):
the twenties great, but they continue to turn the ball
over in the red zone. On the other side, Indiana
is much better than we thought they were going to be.
They go to Oregon absolutely dominate the Ducks. I thought
that Oregon had the combination best offensive and defensive line.
Maybe not the case anymore. That's probably Miami or Ohio State.

(16:45):
And I mean they win the game by ten points.
And if you think all of a sudden, Kurt Signetti's
gonna let up, oh, not the case, since he's come
over to IU six and two against the spread, the
last eight is a double digit favorite or so they
return home. Now Indiana in that big favorites role in

(17:05):
Michigan State. I think this team has seen better team
days here. They are a bottom feeder right now in
the Big ten. Jonathan Smith, who knows, maybe he's planning
an exit plan because I don't see much talent on
this team. IU is one of these teams they do
not let up. When they get up, they put the
hammer down, they keep throwing the football. He usually doesn't

(17:28):
even substitute until mid to late in the fourth quarter,
when he's up at least thirty five points. So if
you're looking for a backdoor touchdown in your backing Michigan State,
don't hold your breath here. I think Indiana is an
easy call here, blowout special. I even winning this game
here forty eight to ten.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yeah, And by the way, you know what what is
the old saying? Lee when it comes to sports gambling,
good teams win, great teams cover yep, and Indiana has
been a great team and they have been absolutely phenomenal
all season long. And Kurt Signetti, it's weird like when
you watch him and you watch his teams, I mean,

(18:11):
they come at you and they are a team that man,
they are just for me. I watch nothing impressed me more.
I was a disbeliever, a non believer, but Kurt Signetti
until they went to Oregon a couple of weeks ago
and they did what they did, and they just absolutely
destroyed the Ducks at Eugene and made them look completely

(18:34):
totally silly. All Right, we're gonna go to the SEC.
Coming up next kickoff three thirty Eastern Time, twelve thirty
here on the West Coast Tomorrow, revenge game for Kirby
Smart and Georgia. Lane Kiffin made a little snide remark
when he was asked a weird question this week. I
think it was kind of a planted question by someone

(18:56):
in the media who burns more calories you are Kirby's
smart and he goes, well, I just saw Kirby on
TV and it doesn't look like he's burning many calories. Yeah,
I don't know if I would go there, especially in
a revenge game situation. Now, one thing about this game,
both teams, they have the ability to score. And the

(19:16):
one thing we've seen about Georgia ever since last year,
Georgia doesn't have that elite defense anymore. You know, you
look at guys like you know, Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Na,
Kobe Dean, They're all in the NFL, and Kirby Smart
has not reloaded on defense and really at the offensive
skill positions that he had in twenty twenty one. In

(19:38):
twenty twenty two when they went to back to one,
back to back national titles. Lane Kiffin in Mississippi, you
saw how bad they were last week at home as
a thirty three and a half point favorite against a
Jimmy Rogers Washington State Kog's team. Sorry to our producer
Christopher Kidd, but I mean the Koogs. They went on
the road. They not only could have they should have

(19:59):
won that game. Even Lane Kiffin admitted it after well,
I think this game points are gonna be all over
the place now. It started off at about fifty three
fifty four. Now the line and the movement is trending
up to fifty six and a half points on this game.
So I think it's gonna be a lot of hotty toddy,

(20:22):
and I think it's gonna be a lot of glory, glory,
Hail to Georgia. I think it's gonna be points all
over the board. Trinidad Chambliss and Gunner Stockton, they're gonna
be scoring. You saw what Georgia did on the road
at Tennessee when they match them. I think this game
is gonna go way over. Give me the over on
this game. It's up to fifty six, fifty six and

(20:44):
a half points. Lay the over in this game. All right,
what do you got next?

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Lee? All Right, So I'm gonna go to the NFL
and I'm gonna look at one of the maybe one
of the worst games of the weekend. And sometimes in
these bad games between two horrible teams, there's a nugget.
And I'm talking about the Cleveland Browns and the Miami Dolphins. Now,
going into the season, people thought, well, Miami probably around

(21:10):
five hundred, can still win at least seven or eight games,
But right now they might be lucky to win five games.
Why their coaching staff and their general manager hasn't been
let go is shocking, as we've already seen the Tennessee
coach let go in a clearly total rebuild mode. So
I think people are shocked that they haven't made a change.

(21:32):
I mean, if you're coming up to the trade deadline,
you certainly don't want if you're going to let their
g or GM go, let him go through the trading
deadline to trade off pieces, because he's not going to
want to let too many pieces go. He's just trying
to save his job. The problem with Miami I thought
going into the season was the offensive line was a
real problem. They drafted a kid in the second round.

(21:53):
He was a right guard, they put him in a
left guard, and now he is really struggling. We're talking
about he's just not able to hold blocks. Past blocking
is a problem. The whole right side of the offensive line,
grading out the right guard as one of the worst
now and so it's just the problems continue to flow

(22:15):
on defense. They thought that they were going to be solid,
that's right on the defensive line, but that has not
been the case. They've been run over two weeks ago
by Carolina Rico Dando. He ran for over two hundred yards.
We're talking about a backup. And then last week the
Chargers with a four string running back, a kid that

(22:36):
started off on the practice squad of videl He runs
for over one hundred and twenty yards and almost seven
yards of carry. So, I mean, if you're talking about,
you know, problems. The cornerback position was maybe the worst
in the NFL. We're looking at what they're putting out
there now, it's an absolute joke. They went into the

(22:58):
season with not one player that was going to start
either on the outside or in the slack cover corner position,
having even a chance to probably make anyone's roster, and
now they've already lost four of those guys to start
the year. So they're picking guys up in off the street.
The cornerback position, defensive tackle position, also the offensive line

(23:20):
all grayed out bottom three in the NFL. So they're
going to play Cleveland. You're saying yourself, well, how can
you take Cleveland. They've got a rookie quarterback. I went
against them last week. I was real strong against them.
With Pittsburgh and rookie quarterbacks first or second start. I
think it's thirteen and thirty six that they've done over

(23:41):
the last decade, but they are going to be at home.
I do think that Gabriel is starting to get things
in motion. He looked better in the second half. That's
why you have to watch the whole game, not just
the first half of games. Just like Joe Flacco in
his game, first half look terrible, second half look great,
and then we rode on Thursday night. I think that

(24:02):
Gabriel is going to start getting it going here, and
he has a defense behind him. If he gets a
couple takeaways, I think they're gonna be in really good shape.
I mean, this Miami team right now, you have a
quarterback in Tua. He's holding press conferences and blaming people,
saying they're not showing up for players only meetings, they're late.

(24:23):
He had to apologize. I think they're beyond gone. So
the Miami program is in real shambles here. Okay, Cleveland
traded off Joe Flacco, but I think they've still got
a couple of running backs here, and I think you're
gonna see what John Jenkins. I think he's gonna have
a huge game. If you're in fantasy and you have him,

(24:43):
or if you like to play player props, Kashawan Jenkins
is going to have a huge game here. Play the
over here. I think we'll have one hundred and twenty
to one hundred and fifty yards. So this is a
great situational play here. They should make the GM and
the head coach if it's Miami, find their own way
back if they lose, Okay, if Cleveland loses, cut bait,

(25:06):
they're also But I think it's gonna be Miami on
the short end of the stick here. I'm gonna lay
a small spot late two and a half points, all
out special here, Cleveland Browns twenty three ten over Miami.

Speaker 3 (25:20):
All right, I like it. I don't you know what
I will tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
One thing about Lee and I all the bets that
we're given out here on picking the locks.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Plus he has some VIP bets.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
If you want to pay for his VIP picks, you
can call him at one eight hundred, four hundred ninety
seventy four one to go to Paramount sports dot com.
There's no play that I feel stronger about than what
I'm about to give out here. And Lee knows every
game that we give out I bet on. Well, let's
go to the Indianapolis Colts, who are headed to the

(25:50):
West coast to LA to Sofi Stadium, where they're going
to definitely probably have a home field advantage like every
visiting team Dubs against the Chargers, and the Rams' playing
the Chargers this time. Well, who's the best running back
in the NFL? Jonathan Taylor. He's killing it. He's absolutely unbelievable.
All season long, He's leading the NFL with the most

(26:13):
rushing touchdown seven. He's averaging over one hundred and a
half rushing yards per game. Now he's going up against
one of the worst d lines in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
How bad is this d line?

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Last week they gave up one hundred and twenty eight
yards to vonn and that Dolphins team that you were
talking about eight chan average eight yards per carry. How
About in a couple of weeks ago against the Commanders,
they faced some dude who was a seventh round pick
named Jakoori Krosky Merritt. He ran for one hundred and

(26:48):
eleven yards against the Chargers defense. Eight yards per carry.
You seeing a theme here?

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Then?

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Prior to that, they faced the Denver Broncos. JK.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
Dobbins averaged seven and a half yards per carry well
in this game.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
It's Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
The total is eighty eight and a half rushing yards.
Bet it over, way over. My strongest play of the
entire weekend. And you know my catchphrase, and I'm gonna
give it to you here. Bet Jonathan Taylor over eighty
eight and a half rushing yards. Bet it now, wait

(27:31):
for it, wait for it, and thank me later. That
is that is as close of a guarantee as you
will ever get. It's on the late window on the
Sunday games. He's gonna just go right through them. The
Colts have found an identity with Shane Steichen. They got

(27:52):
Daniel Jones' quarterback. The Joneses this year have had rejuvenations.
Daniel Jones and Indy mac Jones in San Francisco, I believe.
And no one's talking about this Lee. You know, Brock
perty just came back to practice this week. I think
Kyle Shanahan is being kind of saying, hey, Brock, we're

(28:12):
gonna go with the hot hand right now. Mac Jones
not undefeated anymore because he lost to the Bucks. But
mac Jones has been playing lights out football. Daniel Jones
has been playing great and I just think the Colts.
They're gonna run all over this piss poor, pathetic d
line of the Chargers. And not only do I love

(28:33):
Jonathan Taylor to go Overlee, he might go close to
two hundred yards in this game. That's how strong I
feel about it. So eighty eight and a half, Wow, Vegas.
Sometimes the oddsmakers and the experts get the lines wrong,
as we talked about, and Lee does every week on
the underdog segment, wrong team favored. Well, this is the

(28:55):
wrong line. This one is gonna be I think Jonathan Taylor,
I am so confident about this gamely for one hundred
rushing yards by the end of the first half at halftime.
That's how confident you are in it on this game.
But yeah, love to see it. So there you go
on that one. So I'm loving it. Lee's loving it

(29:18):
over Ole Miss in Georgia over eighty eight and a half.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Rushing yards for Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Le gave minus twenty seven to twenty seven and a
half on the Hoosiers of Indiana and then he gave
out the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Right Lee, Yep, Cleveland Browns to not only win, win convincingly. Well,
you don't have much of an offense either team. Anything
by more than a touchdown would be a blowoup.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Absolutely So coming up next the segment you've all been
waiting for, that you wait for at the end of
every show.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
We call locks, and that's what we do.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
Picking the Locks is brought to you by Fan Duel
Sportsbook at Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
This is what you've all been waiting for. Lee and
I feel great.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
You know, someone texted it on the text line this
week at Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM, Seattle,
sports Leader Lee, I want you and Lee to have
a perfect show well forever.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Get.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
I don't know if we could do that, but I
feel really great about our picks.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Both of our picks this week.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
So if we're gonna have a perfect show, this could
be it Picking the Locks. We're gonna give you those
locks next right here on Sports Radio ninety three to
three kJ r FM, Seattle.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Are you looking for a lock this weekend? You've come
to the right place. Now back to Picking the Locks
with Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought to you by
the Fan Duel Sports Book at Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort
on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
S final segment on picking the Locks spots by fan
duel sports books, how much Wear Water Patino Resort MJ
from MJ in the Midday on Sports Radio ninety three
to three KJRFM, Seattle Sports Leader along with the great
Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports dot com.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
You look forward to the segment every week.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
You look for all the segments, but we know this
is the one, the locks segment, and that's where hence
the name picking the locks lead I gave out and
the blowout segment over aleness between the hedges in Athens
against Georgia.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
But you have a lock on this game? What is
it all right?

Speaker 4 (31:33):
So first you have to look into the line and
why is this line seven and a half? So I
do believe that Auburn got the short end of the
stick last week in that game. That call cannot allow
Jackson Arnold to score that touchdown. I think it was
one of the worst calls we've seen in a game,
and it took them over ten minutes to confirm that

(31:55):
he did not score.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
So, by the way, lead, not only did they get
not only did they get screwed on that lead. What
about the Kirby smart signalingue tied out? And then he
convinces the rest that he was just clapping his hands.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Come on, I.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
Mean, it's absurd the calls that they get. I mean
it goes on and on and on. You see it
in college football in the NFL. Coach has been around,
they're familiar, these officials with these coaches. They certainly give
them the benefit of doubt. There's some teams in the
NFL barely gonna a penalty against them, and it happens
also in the SEC. So it's been going on with

(32:33):
Georgia for a long time. I think they're put on
notice after that poorly called game. And I thought, if
Aarburn scores that touchdown and they go up seventeen to nothing,
it's game, set match, but not to be. And then
Georgia comes back. There was enough time, they kick a
field goal, They go into the half and set of
down seventeen to nothing, they're only down ten to three,

(32:53):
and I just thought that they were not able to
get that momentum back. So that was a problem. But
look at this Georgia team and I see this defense,
and you touched on it. When you were talking about
them earlier with the over they don't have any guys
you have to worry about where they are used to be.
You came to the line, you're like, where's this guy?

(33:13):
Where is that guy? Not the case anymore. They have
a bunch of just pretty good players. All right. Now,
let's look at Ole Miss, Ole Miss. They were overlooking
the game last week. No one's preparing for Washington State
after they've what they've done this year. They were already
looking at film for Georgia and Oklahoma. Okay, didn't play well,

(33:34):
but they still won the game. If they win that
game by twenty five to thirty points, this line is
three three and a half tops, maybe even under a
field goal, so you're getting seven and a half points.
Trinidad Chamblis. I love this kid. I think he's next level.
I know it's his first road game, but even if
he throws an interception, I don't think it's going to

(33:56):
phase the kid. Georgia the last two weeks faced the
two worst offense in the SEC in Auburn and Kentucky. Here,
I think this is going to be my first lock
of the week here. I think that we're gonna see
Lane Kiffin. If you thought he was trolling before the game,
he's gonna do a number on Kirby Smart after the game.

(34:16):
Le miss plus the seven and a half my first
lock of the day. No, I like it.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Now, By the way, let's go to the hold on.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Just a little side note on that, uh they're going
to uh they're gonna game day is gonna be out
there tomorrow, so that that that place is going to
be rocking there.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
So but I like where you're going. I like what
you're saying.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
All right, So let's now let's go to ann Armor
of Michigan and take a look at this Michigan team,
which you know, some people thought close loss to Oklahoma,
all of a sudden, they're gonna build on it. They're
gonna be a better team. And then they go and
they play USC and for the second time this season,

(34:58):
a big, huge blow to their playoff hopes. Unlike the
Oklahoma loss, this one, I have way more concerns here.
The Wolverine defense look like they never had a chance
against USC. Biggest knock on Washington has been, obviously over
the last year and a half, is going from the
west to the East coast and playing at an early

(35:21):
start here nine am Pacific time. But I think this
is a team that's peaking. Last week finished with five
hundred and seventy nine yards, so they've got all kinds
of weapons here. Got a quarterback I think. I don't
know if what kind of NFL quarterback is going to be,
but certainly I think he's one of the best ten

(35:42):
college quarterback in DeMont Williams, joan of Coleman. I think
he's going to be playing at the next level, top
two or three round pick. And I think there's a
first round pick in Denzel Boston. So they have weapons
galore here. I think Michigan is reeling a little bit here.
Offense hasn't come around now. Teams able to scout the
defense and be able to pinpoint those weaknesses here. So

(36:04):
I think this is a game that Washington wants. I
know they're not in the top twenty five, but they're
only lost with Ohio State and they should have been
leading at halftime. Here, I'm gonna take the Washington Huskies.
That's gonna be my second lock of the show.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
All right.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
So I like that now there's been perhaps no more
unrest than at well unhappy valley that I'll call at
Pennsylvania as Penn State. Last week prior to the start
of the one o'clock early game NFL window, they fired
James Franklin. During the season it got so bad. They've

(36:44):
lost three straight games as twenty five plus point favorites
and they lost that home last week to Northwestern. I mean,
it's incredible, it's gotten so bad. James Franklin is out.
Interim head coach Terry Smith is in. Now they gotta
go on the road to an unforgiving place. And the

(37:06):
one thing that you do know about Iowa football, yeah,
they probably won't win. They're not gonna win any national titles.
They're not gonna even win any conference titles. But they're
good for eight to nine wins every year, and they're
also good for really holding teams at home. Under Now,
who's filling in for Drew Aller, who's done for the

(37:27):
rest of the season, redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkenmeyer. Just try
to like, let me just accuate if you're Kirk Farns
and that iowahaw guy defense that lee, did you see
what Iowa did at home? Who's the only team this
year that gave Kurt Signetti in Indiana any problems.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Who was the team Lee.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
Up there was? It was h for sure. It was
the team the Iowa Hawkkeys.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Absolutely and and Kurt Signetti in was very lucky to
pull that game out. Well, they're not gonna have to
worry against Ethan Grunk and Meyer. I can't even say
that almost without laughing. So anyway, in this game, not
only you could look, you could look at the over
the Penn State team total, under all that stuff. I'm

(38:19):
just gonna go with the Hawk guys. I think the
Hawk guys give me him. And here's another reason why
good teams win, great teams cover. I'm not saying Iowa
was a great team. Penn State. Listen to this. Iowa
five and zero against the spread, Penn State oh and
five against the spread? Why overthink this? Give me the
Hawk guys. Big time blowout minus three versus Ethan Grunk

(38:45):
and Meyer and the Penn State Nitney Lions. I think
that could also be a major major blowout. All right, Lee,
coming up next, You've got a big one Monday night
in Detroit Baker Mayfield and the Bucks at Ford Field
against Jared Goff and that Detroit Lions offense, which is humming.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Yep. So I identified Baker Mayfield after just a couple
of games. He should be He should win the MVP.
Now some other people are talking about a couple other players,
but right now you just base it on what they've done. Clearly,
he should be the leader. He leads his team back.
It seems like time and time again from touchdown or

(39:33):
even bigger deficits. Only came up short in one game
and that game was the Philadelphia game. Just love what
he's doing. I think his team believes in him. And
also what has Todd Bowles done road warrior for the
Bucks in that role. They're thirteen and five under his
tutelage since he's gotten there, thirteen and five as a

(39:55):
road underdog. So this is where they perform their best.
They are though some really tough games. You know, they've
had to play a it's just a super difficult schedule
last month the Eagles, the Seahawks, the forty nine ers,
and now they got to travel to play the Lions.
And how good have the Lions been off of a loss?

(40:17):
Well under Dan Campbell last twelve different occasions, just ten
and two against the spread. So we've seen time and
time again. You know, they played at Green Bay Grass Surface,
they got punched in the face opening weekend loss. Last
week they played Kansas City Grass Surface, didn't come out
straight strong and lost. But now they're coming home. They're

(40:40):
looking for revenge. Last year in the game when they
played the Bucks and lost twenty to sixteen, they were
moving up and down the field between the twenties. I mean,
I thought they were clearly the better team. But what
happened in the red zone. They were very sloppy one
for seven. You almost never see that from this Detroit team.
So just couldn't put the ball in the end zone.

(41:02):
Kept going for it on fourth down that didn't work out.
But I think that their weapons are top level. I
think they have two of the top ten running backs.
I think that they've got maybe the best one to
two punch at wide receiver, top five receiver. Golf probably
should be in the conversation here for MVP this year.
Dan Campbell looks like he made some real judicious decisions

(41:25):
hiring both of his coordinators. Okay, they've lost two of
the games here, but this is not a division game.
Tampa Bay loses this game, they're still going to probably
win the division. I think Detroit is looking at this game.
They've got to win this game if they want to
have home field advantage here throughout the playoffs, and they
need it here. So they do have some injury concerns

(41:46):
at cornerback. But on the other side, Tampa, I don't
know if they had the receivers to exploit it. That's
where their biggest injuries are taking place. So I think
Detroit's going to jump out to a nice big lead
and Tampa this might be the one time that Baker
Mayfield is not gonna be able to save his team.
Just too many injuries at the receiver position here, and

(42:07):
Dan Campbell love what he's doing with this team. One
of the toughest places to play in Detroit. I'm gonna
lay the five and a half points here, my third
and final and biggest lock the Detroit Lions over the
Tampa Bay Bucks.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
All right, well, we're gonna stay right therely as we
close it out this week with that game.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
And one thing about both of these teams, they.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
Are not shy about putting up points and putting a
lot of crooked numbers on that scoreboard. And I think
this week's gonna be no different. I look at the
Bucks this year, they're over. They've gone over four of
the six games. The Lions they've only played, as you
mentioned their schedule, Lee, they've only played two games at home,

(42:53):
but in those two games they're averaging forty three points
at home.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
I think this game is gonna be all.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
A lot like that Ole Miss Georgia game that it
gave you in the last segment. And I'm telling you
right now, I'm going way over this game.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
Now.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
It's a big line. I mean now pretty big for
NFL standards. The lines are much sharper fifty two and
a half. It's gonna go over. I think both teams
combine as long as one of these teams in Baker
Mayfield doesn't wet the bed the way that Josh Allen
and the Bills did the last two weeks at home
against New England and then last week on Monday Night

(43:30):
at Atlanta, and I don't think they will. Baker Mayfield's
gonna continue on this MVP tour spread that he's been on.
He's been on fire, and I think, like you mentioned
Jared Goff, Jared Goff's gonna be really big also, look
for Aman Ross Saint Brown over on receiving yards he
was held under last week.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Look for that to possibly go over. Nice little bonus pick.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
But on this one, Lee over fifty two fifty two
and a half. I'm going way over on this game.
Give me the over on this game, Bucks and Lions.
So from Lee, Lee's feeling really great about his picks.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
He likes the Washington Huskies ole Miss.

Speaker 2 (44:14):
He liked the Huskies plus four and a half on
the road at Michigan.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
I think they could win that on the field. I'm
with you on that.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
He likes Ole Miss on the road at Georgia plus
seven and a half.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
Big spot for Lane Kiffen.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
And he likes the Lions minus five and a half
for his biggest locks of the week. And for me,
I'm gonna take the Iowa hawk guys minus three at
home versus red shirt freshman making his first start ever
Ethan Grunkenmeier and Penn State, and I'm gonna go over
fifty two fifty two and a half. Bucks and Lions.
