Speaker 1 (00:00):
Your home for college football Saturdays and the NFL presents
Picking the Loves with Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought
to you by the Fan Duel Sports Book at Suquamish
Clearwater Casino Resort. We're getting you ready for the weekends
games with Lee Sterling. Here's your host, Mark James.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Welcome everyone to the fourth ever Picking the Locks episode
right here on Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM
in Seattle. Your host of MJ in the Midday, Mark James,
along with the best sports any kapper in America.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Lee Sterling.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
This show is brought to you by Fan Dual Sportsbook
at Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. And boy, we are ready
for our picks this week. Last week, nice bounce back
week by you. You went four and three. I picked
six games. I went three and three, twelve and seven
on the season. But like I said, and we've told

(00:58):
our audience this, and we've gotten reviews, and we've got
some news here coming up soon, Lee, that we could
perhaps be seeing Picking the Locks syndicated in some more markets.
We won't say which market, but we could be you know,
getting in some different markets here pretty soon.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yep. And some big ones, some top twenty markets. So
when you're traveling around the country and got the radio on,
or you want to flip on the computer and check
out the podcast. Going to be a lot of different
ways you can find us, So you want to check
us out. You don't want to miss even one episode.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
No doubt about it. And yeah, like this is going
to be huge. Don't forget tomorrow. If you're in the
local PNW Seattle area listening on sports radio ninety three
to three kJ R FM, Husky Honks will start because
it's going to be a twelve thirty kick here locally
in Seattle of the Huskies at College Park, Maryland against

(01:57):
the Terrapins. So pregame with Softy and the Boys will
start at eight thirty. Husky Hanks pre game will start
at eight thirty. Now this I mean, I just gotta
say one thing, Lee before we get into everything.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I will tell you.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
And there are certain games that just make you pause
and make you just like say, holy bleep. Last night
was one of them, Lee, and the most impressive win
of the twenty twenty five NFL season took place last
night at Sofi Stadium or should I call it Santa

(02:35):
Clara South, which it felt like Levied Stadium last night
when the San Francisco forty nine Ers League eight and
a half point road dogs with no Brock Purty, no
Ricky Piersoal, no Juwan Jennings, no George Kittle, no Nick Bosa,

(02:55):
go down there and they beat the team that everybody
including me the NFC West Division prior to the season.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
They win that game in overtime.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
They took control of the game early, they held on,
they go to ot and they win it there late
behind Mac Jones who looked at one point like he
was going to die on the sidelines lead.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
What was your opinion of that game?

Speaker 2 (03:19):
And quite frankly, did you see that coming out of
San Francisco last night?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Under man on the road eight and a half point dogs.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I don't think anyone saw that happening. I mean no
one in the world except for maybe the San Francisco
forty nine or team within So I thought the Rams were,
you know, la soft. They were behind early, fourteen to nothing.
And when you're playing from behind, sometimes you know you
do things that you're not, you know, used to doing.
And the last two drives kind of pretty much epitomized

(03:54):
the Rams game. They fumble and right at the goal line,
not taking care of the ball, and then on fourth
and one, are you kidding me? So mcgaye, I mean,
what do you call on here? You're going to try
to power out the San Francisco forty nine ers with
a run right off guard. Well didn't work out and
they're left with a big l so shocker to start

(04:17):
the week. And I think we're going to see plenty
of other games that go down to the wire. So
it was a very poor performance from the Rams and
forty nine ers. They somehow rallied.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, but you know what if Kyrin Williams doesn't have
that ball punched out by Alfred Collins, we're having a
different story saying, look at McVeigh, he win for the win,
but Kyron Williams lost the game.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Let's be real.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
At the end of the day, he was going into
the end zone and rookie Alfred Collins, second round pick
out of Texas, knocked it out. So there's that. It
just sets the stage for what's going to be a
great weekend. Now let's go to the City of Brotherly Lovely.
Your first game, your pick. As we get ready here
for the first segment, which we liked, which is the

(05:00):
underdog segment that Lee likes to refer to, wrong team favored.
So what do you got Broncos to me? Best defense
in the NFL going on the road three and a
half point dogs against the undefeated, reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles,
who had a huge win last week on the road
against Baker Mayfield and the Bucks down in Tampa.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
All right, so let's first look at injuries. This game
has a lot of layers to it. Philadelphia Lane Johnson
looks like he'll try to give it a go. Shoulder injury,
but you're kidding me. An offensive lineman with a shoulder injury,
that's not the best thing you want. You know, you
can get by, you know, if you're a receiver with
a finger injury, you still got to run down the field,

(05:43):
but you got to get physical. So if he's not
one hundred percent, offensive line could suffer. Two of their
top three linebackers from the beginning of the season looks
like will not play in the game schedule, so they've
played four games so far. Opening week, they had to
play Dallas. Dallas had lost each of the last two
games last year to them. They gave them their best punch.

(06:04):
Then the Super Bowl revenge from the Chiefs, the Chiefs
came at them, they somehow beat them back. And then
the third week they were outplayed by the Rams. If
not for the blockfield goal returned for the touchdown, they
lose that game. The Rams were sky high for that
game off losing in the playoffs last year. And then
they don't even get a break. On the fourth week,

(06:25):
they have to play Tampa, who they lost to in
twenty twenty four. They avenged that loss for a full half.
They look great, second half, stumbled to the finish line,
and somehow won. So they have played four very hard
game here against pretty much top quality competition. Now they're

(06:47):
gonna play a team they're not familiar with in Denver,
and coming up next week they play another division opponent
on the short week, the Giants on the road. So
this is a game if you're not familiar with the opponent, Hey,
you're hoping maybe you get some team here that you
know does some things that you're familiar with. Denver's offense
exact opposite. If you want to get to the quarterback

(07:09):
in Philadelphia's defense, usually it's their defensive tackles. Well, they
move the pocket. You're gonna see bo Nicks fake the
run one way, go back the other way. These guys
are gonna have their tongues hanging out. He's gonna run
the ball, throw the ball. He finally looked good last week.
They didn't play a great opponent, but Denver got on track.
They could be very easily four and oh, so I

(07:32):
just think that this is a really bad match up
here for Philadelphia. I think Denver's defense, as you alluded to,
very good. They don't have to blitz, and when you
don't have to blitz, that's when you usually can have
a success against this Philadelphia offense. Here. I like Denver here,
thero point is favored Broncos strep up in the City

(07:53):
of the Brother of Love here twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Outright, wow, I like it.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
So Lee's even saying you don't even need the bull.
I like it very good. All right, let's go to
the college ranks tomorrow. Gainesville, Texas at Florida Texas preseason
number one, disappointing loss on the road at Ohio State.
They have not looked good since then either. And you
know what, Texas does have the number one ranked defense

(08:20):
in the country, though they haven't faced anyone other than
Ohio State. Texas is actually number two defense. They're giving
up seven point eight points per game, but the Gators
have one of the better defenses in the country. The
problem is they just can't score. They're coming off a
buye and billion apier. DJ Lagway and company have heard
how bad they are. Well, the one thing I'm going

(08:41):
to look at this game, and as we know defense,
defense travels, I'm going to go in this game. I
think it's going to be a low scoring game. I
don't trust arch manning. That game against San Jose State
with a couple of minutes left in the first half
was seven to three, and I this Texas offense just
quite can't get going. Give me the under forty two

(09:04):
on that under forty two Longhorns, Gators in the swamp.
And by the way, if you're feeling really frisky, you
might want to put a little action on the Gators
plus the seven and a hook as well.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
But give me the under forty two Lee, what's next
for you?

Speaker 4 (09:20):
All right? Well, another thing to add to that game.
Weather could be a factor. Just check the weather for
the three or four hours that the Ryames could be
played over fifty percent chance or rain. So that's something
that's really important. You gotta check weather, you gotta check injuries,
so that could play a big factor in that game.

(09:41):
Now I'm gonna go closer to Combe. Last week, the
public was all over Washington. They thought this was a
perfect situational play. Ohio State they got to go cross country,
They've got to play a Washington team. They're not familiar
with quarterback, dual threat quarter and what did they do.

(10:02):
They stood the test of time, they stood their best punch,
and right before the half they scored and you just
felt all the energy leave that game. So with that happening, now,
Washington's got to get on a plane travel cross country.
And last year, how did they do against the spread
and conference games on the road? A big over. So

(10:26):
you saw this Washington head coach Jdfish call for a
fake field goal. I thought was one of the worst
calls we've seen a long.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Long, horrific, horrific, horrific.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Three guys on one side for Ohio State were just
waiting for it. So and on top of that, take
the blame, say it's my fault.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yeah, yeah, do what Sean McVay did last night, Lee
after the Rams game.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
He put it all on himself. You need to do
that jetfish.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yep, big, big mistake, I thought on his part. So
you're trying to rally these young kids, said an example.
Didn't like what he did. Now they've got to go
on the road here against a Maryland team top ten
defense and many different statistical categories. Here, they're coming off
a bye week where they absolutely dominated Wisconsin. They have

(11:17):
a young quarterback, Malik Washington. You're saying, well, why are
they playing a freshman quarterback? He's so talented. They told
Billy Edwards, who's now at Wisconsin, Hey, here's the Doris Sun.
We don't need you anymore. So he can do it all.
Run in a super arm here. So I just think
that the UW pass defense is vulnerable. Get him at home.

(11:39):
This fine should be like maybe Washington a one or
two point favorite. They got to give six and a
half points. Are you kidding me? Another wrong poom favorite
the Turps. That's right, the Turtle gets the job done.
They pull the upset off. So twenty eight to twenty
five over Washington.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Before the season began, I had that as a loss
for the Huskies, and I'm with you on that one.
All right, Tomorrow, let's go down to Htown and look
at the Houston Cougars. Connor Wegman, Now, I know they
struggled a little bit last week against winless Oregon State,
but you're gonna give me eleven at home, nobody's talking
about the Cougars.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Now.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
I know Texas Tech behind quarterback Baron Morton, who had
some complications last week.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
He left the game early with.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
A neck injury, but freshman backup Will Hammond came in
and showed what he can do. Nonetheless, you're gonna give
me eleven and a half points. That's a night game.
It's gonna be a six o'clock kick down in Houston.
That's obviously an intra Texas State matchup to Texas Tech
going on the road to Houston. Give me the Kougs

(12:47):
plus the points. Connor Wegman, I know at times he
can be a little dicey. I don't care, and watch
out for that Cougar secondary because they have five interceptions
on the year.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
This thing going to go down to the end.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Give me Houston Cougars plus eleven. You might get eleven
and a half in some places. Better Now thank me later, Lee,
You got any anything else for the underdogs?

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Yeah, there's another game that I like and most people
aren't even looking at this game. It's going to be
the Ohio State Minnesota game. So, you know, we talked
about Washington. Ohio State the weather to storm in the
first half, scored right before the halftime, took the lead,
and then just kind of cruised to the easy win
over Washington. Now they're coming home and you're saying, oh, okay,

(13:39):
things are great, you know, coming home playing a mediocre
team in the Big Ten here in Minnesota. But what
did Minnesota do last week? They were trailing fourteen to nothing.
I think it was the first time in forty or
fifty years when they were trailing by two touchdowns that
they came back and won the game. They were getting outstatic,

(14:00):
get this outstratted over two hundred yards by the first
eight minutes of the game when they were down fourteen
to nothing. So what do they do? They got to work.
They have a coach here, one of the best coaches
in college football. He might be headed somewhere down the road.
Does the most with great talent. They ended up putting
together nice drive, ended up getting a stop, then a

(14:22):
special team score. They're back in the game. So mister
row your boat, he could be headed somewhere else. They
played defense, did it last year? Their defensive coordinator, as
we all know, headed down to the University of Miami.
But their number five and rushing yards allowed seventh and
sacks per game here, what are they gonna do. They're
gonna slow down the game. They don't want to have twelve, thirteen,

(14:46):
fourteen possessions. They want to make it seven or eight possessions.
If it's eight possessions in the game, that means Ohio
State has to score four more touchdowns. That's right, four
more touchdowns. They're going to probably have to score at
least six of the eight or seven of the nine
possessions to cover this spread here. So twenty three and
a half, twenty four points, that's just way way too

(15:09):
much here. I like the Minnesota Golden Gophers here. I
think they're gonna keep it tight here. Don't be shocked
if this is a ten point game. I like Ohio
State to win the game thirty to twenty, but love
all those gorgeous points.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Wow, So here we go let's recap everything, Lee.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Here, I gave out the under on the Longhorns Gators
in at the Swamp in Gainesville. I just think, you know, listen,
Lee and I can attest that we watched this Florida
team up close. I know they looked like crap against
USF at home. They came back and they had a
nice defensive effort against Miami, who's one of the best

(15:48):
teams in the country down in Miami, and they held
in there, but they just couldn't score there as well.
And we know what happened when they went down to
Baton Rouge to play LSU and Death Valley underneath the lights.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Nonetheless, they're coming off a bye.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
And another thing too, I want to mention about this
Texas game, Lee, is that.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
This could be a trap game.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
This could be a look ahead game for Texas because
they have their biggest rival Oklahoma, the red River. I'll
always call it the Red River Shootout next weekend at
the State Fair in Dallas in the Cotton Bowl.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
But I think for me, this is a look ahead game.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
They could be looking ahead to the Sooners, but they
better not because this Florida team, as we all know,
has five stars across the field, especially on defense led
by Tyreek Sap. They're gonna and arch Manning has not
looked good. And I will tell you right now, this
is going to be the second best defense he's gonna
face since he played Ohio State in the opener at

(16:45):
the Horseshoe in Columbus. Also taking the Houston Cougars plus
eleven at home versus Texas Tech League. Go once again
and recap your wrong team, favorite underdogs who.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
You like Broncos plus three and a half. I would
put half your money on this wager on the game
and half on the money line, so you know, you
get like two to one here. I just think Denver
is that good that under the radar. People love to
talk about the teams that won the Super Bowl, but

(17:18):
every year a team loses. And I think this is
Philadelphia's time playing on borrowed time. Here love Maryland against
the Washington Huskies. Here, team that's under the radar. No
one watches Maryland. Everyone's always watching the marquee teams. This kid,
Malik Washington is something special. He's going to be one
of the top quarterbacks by the end or the beginning

(17:39):
of next year. And then the Minnesota Golden Gophers getting
almost twenty four points twenty three and a half twenty
four depending on where you're shopping for this line. It's
so important you want to have two or three outs.
Half point a point so important. Like look at the
last couple of weeks. You know, we had game Oklahoma,
they were playing Auburn, both teams, both games involving Auburn.

(18:00):
Last couple weeks. Oklahoma they get a safety and they
get a cover. And if you were laying six six
and a half, you got the cover with that Oklahoma
game a couple of weeks ago. And then last week,
what does Auburn do. Auburn, sure enough, they get the
interception almost a pick six, had did nothing the entire

(18:21):
game on offense under two hundred total yards, and because
of that almost pick six, they get the cover by
half a point. So shop around half a point a
point can make a lot of difference in the entire year.
Denver in the NFL, Maryland and Minnesota and Big Ten
in college football action.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
So that's what we've got, you know, bet responsibly. Of course,
Picking locks is brought to you by the fine folks
at FanDuel Sportsbook Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort. Lee Sterling and
I we are here. This is our fourth show and
we look forward to We appreciate everybody here in the
PNW here, and I will tell you I co sign

(19:02):
with Lee about one thing.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
I'm with Maryland plus the points.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
I actually, before the season began, I looked at this
schedule and I said, well, you got the Apple Cup,
you'll get by that.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
They did, They covered.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Then you got that Ohio State two back to back
emotional matchups.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Now you go on the road.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Remember one thing, Husky fans, and I don't need to
remind you of it, but I'm gonna say it. The
Huskies did not win a single game on the road
last season. And Malik Washington is an absolute total beast.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
All right.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Coming up next on picking the Locks, we will have
blow out specials. That's right, blowout specials. You don't even
need to watch the game. Lee and I are so
confident about that blowout specials. Next on picking the locks
right here on Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM, Seattle.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Are you looking for a lock this weekend? You've come
to the right place. Now back to Picking the Locks
with Mark James and Lee Sterling, brought to by the
fan duel sports book ats so Kwamish clear Water Casino
Resort on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Back on Picking the Locks, MJ and the Midday on
Sports Radio ninety three to three kJ r FM, Seattle,
along with the Great Lea Stirling from Paramount Sports and
Paramount Sports dot Com. Now this is time for our
blowout specials, Lee, I'm gonna go tomorrow. Even though game
day would have been going down to Tallahassee, should have

(20:29):
been going down to Tallahassee to Dope Campbell Stadium for
the huge Caines Knowles game tomorrow night under the lights
there in Tallatrashy. Unfortunately, Florida State couldn't get the job
done last Friday night on the road against UVA Yeah Virginia.
So instead game day is going to Tee Town, Tuscaloosa

(20:55):
for the Dare I Say Revenge matchup and has a
little Seattle time to it because last year when Alabama
was upset by Vanderbilt on the road in Nashville, their
starting quarterback was the third round pick by the Seahawks,
Jalen Milroe, and their tight end was the current starting

(21:16):
fallback for the Seahawks. Robbie, ooh, so this to me,
we're gonna get back. This is gonna be a market
correction game. And what I mean by that is that
if you look at this game. Prior to last year's meeting,
Alabama had outscored the Doors one forty eight to three,
and Vanderbilt in a game this year horrible against Utah State,

(21:37):
gave up nearly two hundred and seventy four passing yards.
Ty Simpson, Ryan Williams, Jam Miller, Jeremy Bernard and people
here know that former Husky. These guys, this is a
major statement revenge game. And Kaitlin de Boor, you cannot
lose to Vanderbilt two years in a row, otherwise they

(21:59):
might think about buying you out of that seventy six
million dollars left on your contract. Roll Tide, Sweet Home, Alabama,
give me the Tide minus ten and a half over Vanderbilt.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Yep. And they're going to be doing in front of
Nick Saban. So you don't think they want to please
their old coach. Hey, you're sorely mistaken. And I think Alabama,
I think they've got top maybe the second best treeo
receivers in the country just behind Ohio State. So you're
getting a glimpse of what they can do. And just

(22:36):
watch the game last week. If you think Ryan Williams
is going to drop another bomb, don't quit your day job.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Not at all. What do you got nextly?

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Next I'm gonna look at is going to be in
the NFL. Look at the Kansas City Chiefs now, their
first year head coach Liam Cohne doing a great job.
I mean, how is he doing it? He realized that
Trevor Lawrence is fine, but you don't want him throwing
the ball forty forty five to fifty times. So they're
doing it with defense, special teams and running the football

(23:08):
Kansas City. Here's the problem for Jacksonville. They're playing a
team that has a better defense and better special teams,
and they got back one of their top two receivers,
Xavier Worthy. He was a threat running and also catching
the football last week. So if Jacksonville has to play
from behind, and we've seen it before, teams they start

(23:30):
taking a jump. And Jacksonville is much better this year,
but they can't take the jump all the way up
here and play the elite teams they fall behind in
the game, they have to go to their old game
plan throwing the football, and that's where they're not at
their best. So I think Kansas City wins this game
something like twenty eight or twenty or something like thirty
to twenty. Here, I'm going to go with at lot

(23:52):
special on the Kansas City Chiefs as they keep rolling.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
All right, Lee mentioned the Broncos and the Eagles in
the first segment.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
I'm going to go back to that game and listen.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
One of the things that nobody's talking about this year
and is what's wrong with Saquon Barkley. Do you know
he's only rushed for sixty one yards more than sixty
one yards once this season he had eight He had
over eighty eight yards against the Chiefs a few weeks ago,
and in the last two weeks. How bad has Saquon
Barkley been. Oh, he's been absolutely pathetic. And I'll tell

(24:27):
you this. If you look at his game log. Last
week against the Buccaneers, he had forty three yards averaging
two point three yards per carry. The week before against
the Rams at home, forty six yards two point six
yards per carry. That's going to continue against the best
defense in the NFL. Lee told you he said take
the Broncos plus Broncos plus the points. He even said

(24:50):
they could even win on the field with the money line.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
Well, guess what.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
The over under in this game for Saquon Barkley is
eighty and a half rushing yards. Give me un give
me under. I believe the Broncos will stifle him. He
won't be able to get that. Then going, they're gonna
need aj Brown, who also hasn't been involved in the
offense recently, Devonte Smith and Dallas Goddard or Jalen Hurts

(25:14):
to bail them out. But give me se Kwon Barkley
under eighty and a half rushing yards. Bet it now,
thank me later.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Love it, Love it. I'm gonna go back to college football,
and it's a game most people probably will skip over.
They'll say, oh, this is a game you know, semi
interested in, but I can't pick a winner. But I
think there's a clear right side. So we're gonna take
a look at the Iowa State Hawkeyes. And Iowa State
been playing real good football this year, but they have

(25:46):
a problem. Both of their starting cornerbacks got injured last
week and are done for the year torn acls and
not just any cornerbacks. One was a returning first team
All Big twelve player, the other was a second teamer
from last year. Both these guys were destined to be
on the first team this year. Again. I just think

(26:07):
it's a huge blow to this team. Why Cincinnati brought
in three transfer receivers, one Serius Allen from Texas A
and M another player Jeff Caldwell, and also Caleb Good
from Colorado State. They also added a top end running back,
Tywee Walker, one of the best running backs that Wisconsin had,

(26:29):
so they added that, and also three defensive backs that
are starting. So they had twelve returning starters. You had
seven more. It's really like having nineteen returning starters. Last week.
They finally got over the hump. They just needed that
one big win. I thought they did it against Kansas.
They get to win there. So I think this team

(26:52):
playing at home here with an experienced quarterback and Brendan Sowsby,
I think they get the job done here. I think
Iowa State goes down here. You're saying, why is Cincinnati favored?
They're favored because of the better team. Cincinnati Bearcats a
low out special thirty five, twenty four.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
So burn us.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
When you get burned by a team once, you know,
shame on them, burned by twice, shame on you.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
You know, and I know Lee.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
This year the Pittsburgh Panthers have been a team that
you have certainly probably used a few curse words because
they had a seventeen to nothing lead last week against
Louisville and they could well, I can tell you this
right now.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Well, one way to get right is to play Boston College.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Now in this game, the pitt Panthers at home under
pat nardoozi In. Of course they're great quarterback Eli Holman.
He is like to me and Lee very underrated. Look
at Boston College. Boston College gave up forty two points
on the road to Michigan State.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
They lost that game.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
They lost to Stanford on the road, losing to Stanford.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Stanford was a fourteen point home dog.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
BC lost to them, and then to cap that off,
if it wasn't bad enough, be C lost last week
at home as a six point home favorite versus Cal
Berkeley without Marshaan Lynch, without DeShawn Jackson, without Aaron Rodgers. Listen,
this is a get right game for Pitt and Pat Nardoozi,
give me the Panthers minus six and a half over

(28:28):
absolutely pathetic. Bill O'Brien and Boston College. Bet it now
thank me. Later on the Alma Mater of Dan Marino
and Tony dor Set, take Pitt minus six and a half.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Yep, love it. Finally I can't do it, So I'm
glad you waited in and finally took Pitt. They'll probably
cover easy for you, no doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (28:51):

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Com love it all right, all right, let's go to Locksley.
You lead us off.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
Okay, I'm gonna start with the Chargers in Washington game.
So a lot of people look at this game and
can't figure out who wins. Well, different way to approach
this game. So we know that Washington is down their
top offensive line, Sam Cosmi. So they also have a
couple other guys since the beginning of training camp that
are not playing no depth at all. On the other side,

(31:12):
the Chargers they already lost for sont Slater for the year.
No Joe Alt perfects a couple of weeks. These are,
by too the best two offensive linemen. Do you think
they want to put Jaden Daniels in harms way? Absolutely not. Also,
no Terry McLaurin, he didn't make the trip here. And
the Chargers last week in fifty four plays, what did

(31:35):
they do? They only ran the ball? Get this thirteen
times in fifty four plays. Greg Roman is going to
take a different approach, so will Washington. Both teams are
going to run the football here. What does that usually?
Spell less points scored here? Under forty eight total points
Washington La Chargers.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
All right, I like it. I'm going to do a
player prop. Let's go to Cincinnati on Sunday. And this
guy came through for me last week. He's got six
touchdown catches for the first four games of the year.
And I'm talking about one of the most dynamic weapons
in the National Football League, a RSB.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Amanra Saint Brown.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
They're going up against Cincinnati Bengals defense that is one
of the worst in the NFL. They're giving up nearly
three hundred passing yards a game. I know Jared Goff
and AARSB are licking their chops. Now you might ask, well,
what's the total Seventy and a half is the total

(32:37):
on receiving yards for a Monra Saint Brown in this game?
He might have that in the first half on the road.
I know, Ben Johnson, it's no longer the OC. It
doesn't matter. The Lions are rolling once again, especially after
that loss.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
To start the.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Season at Green Bay and take AARSB plus seventy and
a half receiving yards, bet it now, thank me later.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
All right, I'm going to come back with a college
game here and Notre Dame in Boise State. So in
my opinion is elimination game. Either of these teams loses
this game, they are done. No college football playoffs for
him now. Notre Dame playing a really strong game the
last couple of weeks since their two losses. Starting to

(33:26):
get it in high gear against Arkansas, so the public's
gonna love them. Boise State, what do they remember the
South Florida game they got blown out on the road.
I see this team come together. They had five rushing
touchdowns in one of their last two games against air Force.
They're going to try to run the football, create some
balance here. I think they're finally getting together here. So

(33:49):
they lost to Amsherton gent but this team I think
might be as good or better than last year. But
they're under the radar. Notre Dame no absolutely no pressure
on a quarterback after forty sacks last year, under ten
sacks so far this year. I think this line's will
too high here. We're gonna take Boise State here plus

(34:10):
the three touchdowns plus the twenty one here. I had
Nedername winning the game something like twenty eight to seventeen.
But Boise State gets the easy cover, all right.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
And I mentioned this pick that I'm gonna give on
MJ in the midday today and by the way, you
can listen to Picking Locks. We won't have a replay
tomorrow on Sports Radio ninety three to three KJRFM due
to Husky Honks starting at eight thirty in the morning. However,
as soon as this show is over with the Great
Christopher Kid, we'll have this thing podcasted at eighth one

(34:41):
pm local time in Seattle and of course eleven oh
one pm in the East Coast. Now, look at the
Seattle Seahawks. They are the best defense in the National
Football League. They're only giving up sixteen point seventy five
points per game. Who comes in town this weekend, the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are banged up. No Mike Evans,

(35:05):
more than likely no Bucky Irving. Tristan Wurfs. He's playing,
but he's still hurt. He's not You look at his grade,
it's twenty points lower than his average grade for PFF.
So he's not the Tristan Wurfs that came into the
league right away as a rookie and help this team
win a Super Bowl with the goat. Tom Brady, this

(35:25):
is a field goal game. I'm not gonna give a side,
even though I did say Brier the season. I think
the Bucks won this game. I'm probably gonna still stick
with that, but that's not my pick here. I like
the under on this game forty four and a half.
Defense travels, by the way, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have
arguably the best run defense in the NFL and two

(35:48):
head coaches that are defensive minded Mike McDonald versus Todd Bowles.
This is a field goal game. Points will be at
a very very small premium there. They're not going to
be lighting up the scoreboard. Give me the under forty
four and a half on the Bucks Seahawks, and I

(36:09):
will be at that game at one oh five local
time kickoff at Lumenfield, the home of the Twelves in
Seattle on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
All right, so this is a game I'm not going
to be at. In fact, many people will not be
at this game. Good seats and cheap seats available. Miami's
going to travel to Carolina take on the Panther, and
Miami is in trouble here. Miami is playing on the
short week after the Monday night game, feeling pretty good

(36:40):
except for a big problem. No Tyreek Hill for the
rest of the season. Who did they deploy on Monday night.
Darren Waller, that's right, guy, I've been missing for a
year and a half. Miso the entire season last year.
First game back look great, But now Carolina knows how
Miami's going to use him. Miami was benefit fitted in

(37:01):
the game Monday night against the Jets. Jets fumbled on
the one yard line. Yep, just like the Rams did.
Miami was plus three in turnovers and barely won the game.
The officiating was horrendous in the game. Every call went
against the Jets. Here, the Miami defense has allowed all
four quarterbacks a plus one to ten quarterback rating. Opponents

(37:23):
have run for at least one hundred and fifty yards
and three of the four games here. So this is
a Miami team of the worst quarterback quarterbacks in the
entire league in the NFL. I still think that the
offensive line is a real weakness here, Caroline at home,
this is where they play their best football. I like
Carolina here. This is going to be my third and

(37:43):
final lock thirty one seventeen over the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
All right, love it? So there you go, You've got
the picks. This show will be podcasted immediately after we
go off the air at eight oh one pm local
time here on the West Coast and of course eleven
one pm on the East Coast. And don't forget tomorrow
Husky Hanks pre game with Softy and the Boys starts
at eight thirty pm and they will be live from

(38:08):
College Park, Maryland, getting ready for the Terrapins. Lee picked
Maryland plus the points. I co sign on that it
will be a very tough game to pull out and
the Huskies need a bounce back in a big way.
We appreciate you joining us thanks to the fine folks
at FanDuel Sportsbook, Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
We'll see you next week right here on Picking the Locks.
