Chris (00:00):
Welcome to pulse check, Wisconsin.

(00:40):
This is Dr.
Ford.
And I want us to do a.
Special here for the most recentelections.
As you guys know, our lastseries was based on the.
The politics of public health.
And then we discussed a coupleof topics.
Picks that affect your healthcare here in the state of
Wisconsin and nationwide.
What we saw was.

(01:01):
An episode on gun control.
We did a.
Reproductive rights episode.
As well as a Badger careexpanse.
Spansion episode to encompassall the things that are
affecting health.
Health of individuals throughoutthe state of Wisconsin.
No.
I'll give this disclaimer.
Flavor.
The point of this podcast was togive you.

(01:22):
Objective data.
In which you can take with you.
In your day-to-day you can takewith you to the ERs, to your
primary care.
Doctors to your family, friends, and also take the polls when
you.
Decide on who you want to votefor and who.
Meshes with your ideology.
Of where you think.
Public health should be.

(01:43):
And.
Your access.
Yes to healthcare.
Now I will say.
It's very intentional that Idon't advocate for any
individual candidate.
On this platform both locally,as well as nationally.
But what I do is I make it apoint to demonstrate.
Straight my advocacy forparticular policy.
As you've heard in some of themost recent.
Episodes.

(02:04):
My position based on theaffordability.
The ability of healthcare, theavailability.
Of healthcare.
Having.
Access to primary care doctorsand for women to make.
Their own reproductivedecisions.
Are paramount.
Amount in the health and safetyof our patients.
And a lot of that is not mysubjectivity to the situation is

(02:24):
based on data.
These are policy statements thatcome from.
Governing bodies.
These of medicine.
Throughout the country.
Now as a provider at thebeginning and throughout.
The entirety of the pandemic.
What I will say is.
Is.
During that timeframe, thingswere tough.
We didn't have the medication.
We need it.
We didn't have the equipment weneeded.

(02:45):
We didn't know the diseaseprocess that we were fighting.
And we got a lot of pushbackfrom a federal as well as a.
State level in terms of evenadopting.
Some of the science, we werepresenting as truth.
And a lot of that has to do withthe fact that politics and
healthcare.
They're very closely.

(03:06):
Connect it.
Unfortunately.
Really in some cases, whatyou'll have.
Are some members of anadministration.
Who feel a certain way.
About what should be available.
Saleable who should receivehealth care.
And what decisions they get tomake versus.
What decisions citizens.
Good to me.
No, I'm sure all of, you know,at this point, This same.
Administration that was incontrol.

(03:29):
At the time at the beginning ofthe pandemic.
Is now the same administration.
That will be coming in.
In January.
And as a provider.
as well as an advocate forhealth care it's something that
is troubling and it's something.
That is concerning.
When that administration.
Has already established how theyfeel about evidence-based

(03:50):
medicine.
And how they feel about thepractice of medicine and the
practice.
Of public policy initiation andimplementation.
Well, you have characters inyour cabinet.
Like a Robert F.
Kennedy Jr.
Who is stating that he wants toget rid.
Did have some vaccines or thathe doesn't believe in fluoride.
I ride in the water because itdoes X, Y, and Z that he pulled

(04:11):
up from.
Some, some arbitrary articleonline, those things.
Are going to affect your publichealth in the long run.
Those things are going to.
Prevent purposeful andintentional.
Healthcare legislation to gothrough.
At the federal and at the statelevels.
This is going to affect theaffordability of medications

(04:32):
potentially as again.
Again, through the inflationreduction act that was
implemented.
Cemented by the currentadministration.
We were set to see a.
A reduction in healthcare costsand medication capping for.
For our seniors in January of2025.
Elections have consequences.
And we will see in.

(04:52):
In the future.
What those consequences will be.
With the new administration no,I'll say all that to.
I say this, I don't want to getyou down to the dumps.
And again, We don't know wherewe're going to end up with this
current administration.
However, there are two things Iwant to point out first off.
Here in the.
State of Wisconsin through theimplementation of fair maps.

(05:14):
We had for the very first timein about 12 years.
Competitive race.
Races.
We have seen.
Through that competition.
At the local level.
More representatives who are infavor.
Favor.
Of evidence-based medicine andare in favor.
Of improving the public.
Public health.
Assume positions of power.

(05:36):
That in the state of Wisconsinis going to be.
Paramount.
When we talk about some of thethings that we discussed.
In the last three episodes.
When we talk about creating safegun laws for.
For our patients and for ourcommunities, when we talk about.
Maintaining.
Reproductive freedoms for mypatients and for for women.
And throughout the state ofWisconsin.

(05:58):
When you talk about.
Expanding Badger care so thatfolks can have.
Access to primary health care.
That was the power of your vote.
That is.
Is how we.
Make Wisconsin.
And safer.
And how to make Wisconsincitizens healthier now the
second part is.
This.
Again, the purpose of thispodcast was.

(06:19):
Was to advocate for you.
I will not stop advocating.
for you.
Our listeners for all mypatients and.
For my communities.
This is just the beginning.
And we at.
At Polshek Wisconsin are goingto continue to push forward.
We're going to continue toprovide.
And you that same data.
As we did before.
We're going to continue toadvocate.

(06:40):
Kate for policies that we knowwork in other states and that we
know work.
Work in other countries as well.
We're going to continue to pushforward.
Word to make healthcareaccessible.
To make medications accessible.
And to provide your interviewswith experts who can speak to
that FAC.
In a way that is tangible and ina way that is factual.

(07:02):
That is the only way that wemove forward.
As.
As a state.
And that is the only way that wemove forward as a country.
That's how we get healthier.
That's how we make sure that noone is left behind.
And So regardless of.
How.
Anyone feels about this mostrecent election.
If.
You're really happy if youreally sat.

(07:22):
We are going to continue to pushforward.
And we are going to continue totake care of one another.
And I will be here.
To help you through.
That process.
So all my listeners feel free toreach out.
If you have any questions.
If you have any concerns or ifyou just want to vent.
as always take care ofyourselves, take care of each
other.

(07:42):
And if you need me.
Come and see me.
