Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good evening. Welcome to Voice in the Wilderness. I'm Don
Noble of Your Heart Ministries, and I welcome you today
with exceedingly abundantly and overflowing joy. I am tickled to
be with you this evening because I have been sick
with the flu, and thank goodness, I have turned the
corner and I am feeling so much better. But that
(00:21):
thing was wicked. Tonight. I'm going to continue a topic
that I've been talking to you about over the last
three or four weeks, about wisdom, about hearing God's voice
and obeying his voice, and the necessary wisdom that we
need to walk out in our daily lives in this
(00:44):
year of twenty twenty five. But I felt like tonight
I wanted to kind of get at the root of things.
I always like getting down to the nitty gritty and
understanding helping you listeners to understand, you know, important principles
about God's word. That's what I'm supposed to do. So
(01:07):
you've probably have asked yourself where does wisdom come from?
And actually I have titled tonight's message the Origin of wisdom,
But of course we know that wisdom comes from God.
But I found a very unique set of verses in
the Book of Job, and I think that those scriptures
(01:31):
even give us more insight about wisdom, because it's believed
that the Book of Job is the oldest book of
the Bible. So I want to start in Job chapter
twenty eight. Now I am reading out of the Amplified
(01:53):
Classic Edition of the Bible. That's the version I'm reading
out of this evening, and every scripture is coming from
that particular version. And this is Joe chapter twenty eight.
And I'm starting with verse twelve and going through twenty eight.
So let's go. Verse twelve starts, but where shall wisdom
(02:15):
be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man
knows not the price of it, neither is it found
in the land of the living. The deep says, wisdom
is not in me, and the sea says it is
not with me. It cannot be gotten for gold, neither
(02:40):
shall silver be weighed for the price of it. It
cannot be valued in terms of the gold of o
fear in the precious onyx or barrel, or the sapphire.
Gold and glass cannot equal wisdom, nor can it be
exchanged for jewels or vessels of fine gold. No mention
(03:04):
shall be made of coral or of crystal. For the
possession of wisdom is even above rubies or pearls. The
topaz of Ethiopia cannot compare with it, nor can it
be valued in pure gold. From Where then does wisdom come?
(03:32):
And where is the place of understanding? It is hidden
from the eyes of all living, and knowledge of it
is withheld from the birds of the heavens Abadawn, the
place of destruction and death. Say, we have only heard
(03:57):
the report of it with our ears. God understands the
way to wisdom, and he knows the place of it.
Wisdom is with God alone, for he looks to the
ends of the earth, and he sees everything under the heavens.
(04:22):
When he gave to the wind weight or pressure, and
allotted the waters by measure, when he made a decree
for the rain and a way for the lightning of
the thunder, then he saw wisdom and declared it. He
(04:45):
established it, yes, and searched it out for his own use,
And he alone possesses it. But to man, he said,
behold the reverential and worshipful fear of the Lord. That
(05:06):
is wisdom. And to depart from evil is understanding. So
let me stop there a second, God alone is wisdom.
Those two statements are important. They stand out. Wisdom is
with God alone, and God alone possesses wisdom. But man
(05:37):
for man, wisdom is beholding the reverential and worshipful, worshipful
fear of the Lord. So we'd gaining wisdom by having
this reverence and worship of the Lord and having that
(05:59):
worshipful fear of the Lord walking in that arena, and
then when we depart from evil, we gain understanding. So Lord,
would you please open the spiritual ears of those listening tonight.
(06:20):
Would you cause their heart to be open to your truth?
Would you surround them with your love, faith, hope, and strength?
And Lord, may they walk in the wisdom of God
(06:41):
all the days of their life in Jesus's name. Now,
Proverbs contains the bulk of instruction regarding wisdom. I mean,
you could even say that the Bible is a book
of wisdom. You could say it's the book of widm
from Genesis to Revelation. And as you read God's Word,
(07:09):
you are allowing the light of the Gospel, the wisdom
of God's Word, to penetrate your very soul, your very spirit,
your very being, and it will make a difference. I
want to look at Proverbs chapter one, and as most
(07:33):
of you know, Solomon wrote the Book of Proverbs. But
Proverbs chapter one, verse five is a key verse. Let's
look at this verse again. I'm in the amplified Classic
version of the Bible. It says the wise also will
(07:55):
hear and increase in learning. That's why I pray over
your spiritual ears to hear that you would hear clearly tonight.
The wise also will hear an increase in learning, and
the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to
(08:21):
sound counsel so that he or she may be able
to steer their course rightly. So you're not going to
be able to steer your life in the right direction
(08:42):
until you can acquire the skill of listening to sound
counsel from God's word. You know, I've counseled people over
the years, and I always tell them right from the
get go, I am not going to counsel you according
(09:04):
to my feelings, my thoughts, or my opinions, because it's worthless.
I will counsel you according to God's word. Don't get
mad at me, because I'm only going to share what
God's Word says to you. So we want to gain
(09:34):
the wisdom of God. We want to walk as a
person of understanding and acquire the skill and attain to
sound counsel. Because we want to steer our life, the
course of our life, the path of our life. We
want to steer it correctly in the right direction. Amen.
(09:57):
Now this is a key when it comes to walking
in the wisdom of God. We have to walk in humility.
And you know, it's it's knowing that we're just we're
nothing but a vapor. I mean, we're gonna we're gonna disappear,
(10:19):
and anything that we know or discern is because of
His mercy toward us. Without humility, we cannot and will
not be able to walk in wisdom. You cannot walk
in God's wisdom unless you humble yourself. If you are arrogant,
(10:42):
you think you know it all. Actually if you if
you do, you're you're in the flesh. I mean you're
just totally in the flesh. But to walk in a
place of great wisdom and understanding, you have to be
humble person. You have to humble yourself and realize you
(11:04):
don't know anything. Don't ever think you know everything or
you are some you know theological wizard. I mean, seriously,
I don't care how smart you are. And there are
a lot of smart theologians, a lot of smart Christians.
But when you think, if you have those kind of thoughts,
(11:29):
then you can never walk in the wisdom of God.
You know, I just was reminded of George Washington Carver,
the man. You know what he did. He took that peanut,
he shut the door to his lap and he said, Lord,
I don't know anything about this peanut, but I believe
(11:50):
you can show me all that I need to know.
In other words, I'm relying on your wisdom. God, I'm
relying on you to show me me. You created that peanut,
and only you know what that peanut's capable of. So
you see, inhumility, George Washington Carver was able to do
(12:14):
exceedingly abundantly right. And so it's the same with us now.
James Chapter three is the New Testament definition of wisdom,
divine wisdom. So let's turn to James Chapter three and
(12:47):
James James. I love the Book of James. It's actually
like a little it's like a little mini book of wisdom.
I mean, almost every scripture is just like a little
do drop of wisdom or a golden nugget of wisdom.
Now he says, here, you see, we looked at the
(13:10):
Old Testament. We looked at what Joe wrote about wisdom.
Now we're going to look at what James writes about wisdom.
This is chapter three. We're going to start with verse thirteen.
It says, who is there among you who is wise
and intelligent? Then let him, by his noble living, show
(13:34):
forth his good works with the unobtrusive humility, which is
the proper attribute of true wisdom. What did I just
get done talking to you about? But if you have
bitter jealousy, envy, contention, rivalry, selfish ambition in your hearts,
(13:59):
do not pride yoursel selves on it, and thus be
in defiance and false to the truth. This superficial wisdom
is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, animal,
(14:20):
even devilish, demonic. For wherever there is jealousy, envy, and contention,
rivalry and selfish ambition, there will also be confusion, unrest, disharmony, rebellion,
(14:42):
and all sorts of evil and vile practices. I don't
know what version of the Bible you're reading out of
But if I were you, I would highlight these scriptures
because when you get into a situation where you're having
(15:06):
contention with another individual, or you have jealousy going on
in your heart, envy in your heart, selfish ambition in
your heart, this is what's gonna come. This is what's
gonna come about. See, there's gonna be confusion, there's gonna
be disharmony, there's gonna be as these these vile spirits
(15:28):
are gonna start operating. And that is wisdom, not from above.
It's demonic, it's central, it's flesh, it's carnal, it's evil,
Verse seventeen. But the wisdom from above is first of
all pure, it's undefiled. Then it is peace loving, it's courteous,
(15:59):
it's considering, it's gentle, it is willing to yield to reason.
It's full of compassion and good fruits. It is wholehearted
and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned, free from doubts, wavering and insincerity.
(16:25):
So it's very easy to distinguish what a person's walking
in if they're walking in any of the the other
things I mentioned, jealousy, contentions, you know, contention is arguing.
You know, if you're arguing with your spouse, drop it
(16:47):
and repent. Stop now, don't go any further in that argument,
because that is devilish. It's it's it's carnal, and it's
you're going to end up with all kind of evil spirits.
I mean, there's gonna be all kind of backlash from that.
But your conversation, your behavior should be peace loving and courteous, considerate, gentle,
(17:20):
willing to yield, full of compassion and good fruits. Okay,
it is extremely important that we grasp the crucial decisive
(17:43):
days we are in. You gotta get your head out
of the sand. This is not we're not playing games here.
The devil is on the loose. He is proud telling
about seeking whom he may devour, and he will easily
(18:06):
devour you. If you begin to walk in contentions and
jealousies and arguments and rebellion, I mean, you're gonna there's
gonna be a lot of backlash. You're not gonna like it,
because what you sow you reap. When you sew to
(18:27):
the flesh, you reap corruption. The Bible says, when you
sew to the to life, or when you sew to
the spirit, you reap peace. You reap life, So it's
your choice. How do you want to live your life.
(18:51):
We must take a strong stand for truth and justice.
I've made that clear for quite a long time. Now.
I want to conclude tonight in Proverbs. I'm going to
go back to Proverbs, but you know, make a point,
(19:13):
make a point to Mark James three, verses thirteen through seventeen.
And this is what I would encourage you to if
you have a problem with your tongue, I would meditate
(19:34):
on these scriptures. I would even meditate bef you know,
the whole book James chapter three, because he's talking about
the tongue. You know, verse six, he says the tongue
is a fire, and so that's why he's talking about
the tongue. And then he goes into this, it just
(19:56):
doesn't work. You can't have a NaSTA d tongue belittle
your spouse or your children or whatever, you know, whatever.
You can't go there because you're going to eat the
fruit of it, and it is it's not good. So
I want to conclude tonight in the Book of Proverbs
(20:19):
and will go to chapter two, and I want to
start with verse one and go through twenty two. So
This is Solomon writing in the Book of Proverbs, chapter two,
My son, if you will receive my words and treasure
(20:43):
up my commandments within you, making your ear attentive. Here
we go again. This is similar wording, making your ear
attentive to skillful and godly wisdom, and inclining and directing
your heart and mind to understanding, applying all your powers
(21:07):
to the quest for it. Yes, if you cry out
for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you
seek wisdom as for silver, and search for skillful and
godly wisdom as for hidden treasures, then then you will understand.
(21:33):
Here's the key. Then you will understand the reverent and
worshipful fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of
our omniscient God. For the Lord gives skillful and godly wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He hides
(21:56):
away sound and godly wisdom and store. Where's is it
for the righteous those who are upright and in right
standing with him. He is a shield to those who
walk uprightly and in integrity, that he may guard the
(22:16):
paths of justice. Yes, he preserves the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing in
every area and relation. Yes, you will understand every good path,
for skillful and godly wisdom shall enter your heart, and
(22:41):
knowledge shall be pleasant to you, to deliver you from
the way of evil and evil men, for men who
speak perverse things and are liars, men who forsake the
paths of righteousnes of uprightness, to walk in the ways
(23:04):
of darkness, who rejoice to do evil and delight in
the perverseness of evil, who are crooked in their ways,
wayward and devious in their paths. Discretion shall watch over you.
Understanding shall keep you, to deliver you from the alien
woman from the outsider with her flattering words, who forsakes
(23:28):
the husband and the guide of her youth, and forgets
the covenant of her God. For her house sinks down
to death, and her past to the spirits of the dead.
None who go to her return again, neither do they
attain or regain the pass of life. So may you
(23:49):
walk in the way of good men, and keep to
the paths of the consistently righteous, the upright, in right
standing with God. For the upright shall dwell in the land,
and the men of integrity, blameless and complete in God's sight.
Shall remain in it, but the wicked shall be cut
(24:13):
off from the earth, and the treacher treacherous shall be
rooted out of it. This just came to my mind.
I was just thinking of some fellas I know that
are born again, and so they like to go out
and hang with their old buddies at a bar. And
(24:36):
I'm telling you that is absolutely, absolutely the wrong thing
to be doing, because what you're doing is you're opening
up your spirit and you're opening up your heart to
men who walk in the ways of darkness, who walk
(25:00):
crooked in their ways, devious in their past, and so
you know, and sometimes they rejoice to do evil, and
sometimes they delight in the perverseness of evil. And so
you expose your spirit man to this corruption, and then
(25:24):
you wonder why you have problems. Well, first of all,
it's not wisdom. Stay out of the bars, stay away
from ungodly men. The same with women. You know, if
you're born again, gal, you don't belong in a bar,
(25:46):
and you don't belong hanging around ungodly women. And these
people today, I mean, they use such foul language. It's
just like, why would you want to subject your spirit,
your fragile ears to those ugly words. Why why would
(26:06):
you want to go there? And so you know, when
it says the Lord wants to guard the pass of justice,
he wants to preserve the way of his saints, he's
trying to preserve your way. But you have a will
(26:29):
and you can go and do what you want to do.
That's true. I'm just encouraging you don't do it. And
when you go to bars, hey, there's women in there
that want to take advantage of men. So you don't know,
you might, you might be weak in that area and
(26:50):
then boom, before you know it, this woman's, you know,
trying to talk you into something you wish you didn't do.
So I'm telling you that you must make your ears
attentive to godly wisdom. Guys, gals, come on, you must.
(27:13):
This is not, you know, the time to be lazy.
The devil is walking about like a roaring line. He's
walking about to take you down. So you've got to
begin to read scripture as I say all the time,
and walk in learn to walk in God's wisdom. Amen. Well,
