Speaker 4 (01:00):
Let's get ready to rumble. Oh sorry, I watched the
All Star game. I thought that's how we were supposed
to introduce baseball games. Now maybe not, but we'll still
talk baseball. It's the DLLs Rangers Podcast. Yeah, the second
(01:30):
half of the season for the Rangers unofficially starts right now.
It's actually only sixty five games left, so significantly less
than a half, but a pretty important sixty five coming
your way. Is We welcome you into the DS Sports Studios.
It's the DLLs Rangers Podcast. John Radigan, Jeff Wilson, the
(01:52):
Queen kat over here today with a to do list
as long as your arm, but knocking it out step
by step. You eat an elephant, how one bite at
a time? And uh, and that's what the Queen's doing.
And frankly, that's kind of what the Rangers need to do.
Right if if these sixty five games, Jeff, are the elephant,
one game at a time, one bite at a time,
(02:13):
one inning at a time, one at bat at a time.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
Yeah, you know what, whatever cliche you want to do,
and they'll they'll glom onto some of them series. You know,
got to win series, that's always the thing. And they
open with three three game series at home to start
the second half, and Tigers are going to be a
tough lot A's and the disappointing Braves. So there's opportunity here.
(02:41):
You know, you're gonna get the chance to to get
a feel for what way this team is really going
to go. You know, these are nine important games when
it comes to the trade deadline and things like that.
And as things stand as of today, I expect the
Rangers to add some stuff relievers probably, and maybe that's
(03:02):
all they add, because they do have some reinforcements coming
off the injured list for the rotation in John Gray,
the lineup in Jack Peterson, don't laugh, and then Josh
Young coming up from Triple A, and then Jake Berger
who went on the injured list yesterday. You know, maybe
maybe get this quand thing knocked out, and today he
(03:23):
finds the format he's had the last couple of years.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
And yeah, and those are all ifs right at this
point in the season, and we have ninety seven games
that say it probably won't happen. However, I will say this,
and we've said it since they were in that offensive malaise,
and you hate to put it's a team game, and
(03:46):
having those team like at bats is so important to
obviously to Chris young, but also to the hitting coach,
Brett Boone. But the reality is, when Corey Seeger is
back in the lineup and being Corey Seeger, the entire
offense is a different animal, Jeff, It's a different machine.
(04:09):
And he's you know, he came back from the injured
list a while ago, and and uncharacteristically for him, he
had about two or three weeks where he wasn't hitting
the ball right. For the last two or three he
has been. And I don't think it's any coincidence that
in that time the offense has shown its best, most
(04:30):
consistent sort of duration of the season.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Yeah, and you know it helps helps tremendously that Marcus
Simon is hitting. But you know, Seegar has been on base,
what fifteen sixteen straight games. Yep, he's hitting, he's hitting
home runs, he's driving the ball, hits it hard, and
and he is, you know, the the straw that stirs
(04:55):
the drink, you know, the old Reggie Jackson saying.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
And it's true.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
And you know, he obviously doesn't go about it like Reggie,
much quieter and more reserved, and but you know when
he's when he's right, it's awesome to watch it.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Really is.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
You expect him to do something impressive every time he's up,
and uh, you usually don't leave disappointed. But the Simeon
turnaround has been huge. A Dolus has been better. As
we can keep saying, he's still he's he's basically at
his at his career levels, which is fine.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I'm okay with that.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
That guy, Yeah, okay, that's pretty good. Okay, but but
you need more consistency. I think from the bottom of
the lineup that that and we've talked about that, and
and maybe you know, the Rangers can can find a
spark down there. It'd be really nice if Evan Carter
could get going, you know, be a little more consistent.
(05:51):
You know, he he for for a guy with such
a great eye, he does he does strike out a lot,
but he had a nice game there in the in
the last one, uh before the break. And that's the
kind of guy he can be. Why at Langford also
was showing some signs of life there come coming to
the break. And if that's the guy he can be,
(06:13):
then this offense all of a sudden looks really really good.
But again ifs yeah, and that's the thing and and
the maybe out of all those. The biggest diff at
this point is Josh Young, who has not performed particularly
well in the minor leagues yet. Jeff now, he hasn't
had that many reps because of a couple of rainouts.
(06:34):
He's only had five games. They they take an All
Star break as well. But the reality is it's it's
been a little disappointing. Again.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Jake Berger got down there when he went and he
raked immediately.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
He did, and I think that if Josh had done that,
you'd see him he'd be back coming up instead of
the reports that have rowdy tells coming up. So you know,
if he can, if he can get on track, it's
looks like it's gonna be a little bit longer process
with him, you know, than it was Burger, you know,
and maybe maybe the adjustment with Burger was something minor
(07:10):
and he was able to to quickly, you know, hit
on it and and get his rhythm and time in
all whatever it was, uh be able to repeat it. Josh,
it doesn't seem like that's happened, and he's more of
a not that I'm not taking any shots at Jake's
mental acuity, but Josh has always been more cerebral one
of the more cerebral, probably to his detriment at times.
(07:32):
And and maybe that's something that he's dealing with now,
but you know, that's that's that's a bat that they need,
you know. And and I don't know what what else
they can do with the lineup that's going to make
a huge impact.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
You could you could.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
Swap out Ezekiel Duran with somebody else. You know, there's
a there's a guy down there at Triple A. If
you're looking for a guy who can play shortstop and
other infield spots, Cody Freeman, who I know who's having
a great year down there. He's not on the forty
man you know, if you're looking for a forty man guy, well,
you know, they bypassed apparently Foscu and Krim Foscy has
(08:14):
been okay. Crim has been fantastic. And I know, I
know he didn't have a great showing when he came
up in May or April it was May May. Yeah,
but you know, you got to give a guy a chance, and.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah, and he didn't get many reps. He didn't get
many opportunities.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Right, if you're going to bring a guy up, play him,
you know. And and Dustin Harris, the outfielder, left lefty hitter.
He's been a lot better here the last month. He's
really he's really turned his season round. It was it
was kind of, you know, kind of Marcus Simeon territory
really if you want to make a major league comparison
(08:51):
to it. But but Dustin's taken off, so there are
some some opportunities to maybe reinforce the bench a little bit.
But you know, Sam Haggart's not going to go anywhere.
I would I would like to see though, less of
the two catchers in this lineup at the same time.
And it's not I'm worried about the DH thing. It's
(09:13):
you know, they're really inconsistent and it seemed like you
might be able.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
To do better. So Cody Freeman is caught, he has
he'd be your third catcher, right, would he be your
third or could he be your He could be your sex.
He doesn't have to for a while.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
But you know, if if he still has his glove
and his equipment and if the stuff was to hit
the fan, you know, he could go back there and
like block balls and throw runners out. It wouldn't be
like a guy who's never done it before. So and
you know why Langford caught in college.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
Yeah, point, there you go. I've never heard him mentioned
as the third catcher. No, I don't know. It's your point.
He could black balls.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
It's usually it's usually Zeke is usually the guy. Poor
poor Zeke. You know, just go back there, zekeon. Yeah,
see what happens.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
After at Zeke He's got to get arm Yeah, put
a catcher's glove on. So a couple of things the
Rangers did over the break was, as Jeff mentioned, they
used the injured list with Jake Berger and they can
backdate it to the thirteenth of July, so that'll be
able to he would be able to come off the list,
(10:22):
I believe on the Wednesday game right after the Oakland series,
or maybe maybe for the final game of the Oaklands.
All right, so we can come off Wednesday. And then
they did we hear, decide to pay the All Star
Game bonus in the contract of one Nathan Valdi. And
(10:44):
you know, on the surface, you think, well, oh great,
this guy's making twenty five million dollars this year and
he gets an extra hundred thousand. That's like them giving
me ten bucks, right or whatever? Right, but it's the thought, right,
It's the it's the the the act of look, we
(11:05):
think you're an All Star I have. We haven't had
a chance to talk to Nathan yet, but I'm sure
he felt pretty good.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
About that jet I would imagine, and you know, I'd
feel great about it.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
And and let's let's be honest. I think this is
kind of a you know, you do this and the
rest of the league season, maybe some free agents want
to come and play for your team, because you know,
even if you've getten snubbed, the team is still gonna
appreciate you to give you the bonus. So but I
(11:37):
think that it was an egregious oversight by Baseball, the players, whatever,
whatever it was. And it's very deserving and it is
very cool. And I'm sure Nathan will find something charitable
to do with it, you know. He he in that
Astro series, they both teams were the Yes sexist together
(12:00):
arts and and Nathan is a Texas native, you know,
and so this one, while he didn't have any ties
to Camp Mystic or any of the the folks affected
by the flooding, it hit hard, you know, I mean it,
it definitely touched touched him. And a lot of others,
and especially the guys who are are our parents and
have kids who the age of those campers. On that note,
(12:24):
and I wore the do It for Dirt hat for
a reason. Last night Pat Green the Country Artists, had
a benefit concert. He lost his brother, a sister in law,
and I believe in nephew. I think nephews in the
flooding had an who survived and raising money.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
And one of the.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
Charities that that were or was it would is to
receive the proceeds. I don't know if you call us
a beneficiary, but do It for Dirt's one of those programs.
And so we are going to, uh, whatever money we get,
we will send directly to families affected by the great
by the flooding. So I saw that he raised at
(13:09):
least a million. Yeah, So I'm I'm looking forward. I haven't.
Emily Jones is the the de facto president of our group,
and and she's been the one kind of spearheading this
and speaking with the Pat Green's wife, and so I've
yet to see how much money it is that we're
gonna be able to distribute. But a terrible tragedy obviously
(13:30):
affected affects all walks of life. You know, Pat, Pat
Green and Texas circles and across the country is a
pretty big, pretty big star. And so and again the
Rangers players will not affect it directly by it. We're definitely, uh,
definitely touched by what happened and glad to do their part.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
And anybody with an ounce of empathy right can totally
relate to the horror uh that hit on July fourth
down there in the Texas Hill Country. And amazingly it
continues today as there's there's been a whole bunch more
rain down there, and clean up efforts continue being halted
because of more threats of more flooding. So yeah, it's
(14:14):
a it's a horrible tragedy. And and by the way, uh,
Pat Green did that concert. You know, he staged it
at Globelife Field, And if you're wondering why, uh there
weren't fans invited, I'm certain although I haven't checked on this,
but those guys create contracts with other venues who put
(14:36):
clauses in there that say you can't do a concert
in this area within this timeframe, and so you know
he probably couldn't. It wasn't allowed contractually to let fans
come in there. But he certainly uh you know, was
was there for everybody on YouTube and that was that
was awesome. It was really great. Yeah. So anyway that
(15:00):
some of the stuff that happened over the break with
your team coming up next. Uh, Bill Parcells famously said
when he got to the Dallas Cowboys after three straight
five and eleven seasons, Parcells said, well, you are what
you are. You are what your record says you are.
Are they which try to answer that question next on
(15:23):
the DLS Rangers podcast.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Speaking of concerts, I've been looking at the game Time
app because there are friends for the you know, secondary market,
and if you can't get your hands on tickets, you
can do it through game Time by downloading the app
and you use the code DLS. You get twenty dollars
off your first purchase. There's some there's some decent ones
coming up. If you've heard of Parker McCollum, I've heard
(15:50):
of him. He's he's in town Saturday night at the
dose Echi Pavilion. And then you got to you got
a choice to make on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Can this okay?
Speaker 5 (16:02):
Or Rick Springfield on Kansas all the way? Yeah, you're
gonna carry on.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Yeah, I'm gonna car wayward Son. You're dang right. You
don't want justice, girl, I know, although I don't know.
I hadn't seen her years, but I will say this,
dust in the Wind was my graduation song. Oh I
didn't like it. I did not vote for one of
my dust in the Wind. Yeah it's freaking John Raddigan,
damn it. You know exactly.
Speaker 5 (16:26):
Anyway, game time using the code deal as on your
first purchase for twenty dollars off.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Hey, I found another great use for Shady rays. They're
great sunglasses. But when you and I told you, when
you hang them on your collar, a six month old
baby could grab them. So last night we're out for
dinner and my six month old granddaughter grabs them. And
I'm gonna tell you something right now, These right here
are great for teething. Right. And then I also learned
(16:54):
one other thing. Moms don't like it when their babies
chew on metal sunglasses. Oh I kind of angered my daughter,
But boy, I'll tell you what, go go really loved
chewing unknownst things. She's teething. What can I say? They're
great for everything? Shady rays? All right? Get some they're
perfect for blocking the sun, which is what they're designed
(17:15):
to do. They're good looking, and they're great for teething.
So go to Shadyrays dot com use the code d
l LS. You get thirty five percent off You're polarized sunglasses.
All right, we got some stuff in the chat we're
going to get to momentarily. We want to talk about
that Bill Parcell's thought. That Bill Parceell's theory, the philosophy
(17:37):
that says you are what your record says you are,
and the Rangers record says they are one game under
five hundred and so we wonder is that what they are?
There's there's some evidence to suggest otherwise, and there's a
mountain of evidence to suggest actually that is what they are.
(17:57):
So let's dissect this a little bit, Jeff. They've got
the sixty five games left, thirty three of them are
at home, thirty two of them are away. However, so
that that favors them, I guess by one game, right whatever. However,
their second half strength of schedule second hardest in Major
League Baseball. Now that changes as the team screed right now,
(18:22):
second in Major League, first in the American it's the
hardest schedule left as of right now.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Yeah, they've got some big ones coming in. Obviously you
mentioned the Tigers, but gosh, the Phillies are coming.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
I think the Yankees still have yet to come to town,
if I'm not mistaken. So that's right, There's there's two
pretty big ones right there. And uh, that's just the
tip of the ursperg. You know, the Braves have a
losing record, but are you know, a pretty pretty talented team,
and if you get if you end up with Chris Sale,
you know that's gonna that's your hands are going to
(18:57):
be full. That that is a definitely something.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
Now the within that though, or two series against the Astros,
so you know, an opportunity to just go right out
head to head and and and take care of business yourself.
Mariners just one more time. They're they're on trade deadline day.
That's a four game series, uh, beginning on the thirty first.
(19:22):
So yeah, that's that is something to to look at
and consider. You know, the Rangers have have have figured
out a way to beat the pitchers they're supposed to beat,
you know, like mccullors the other night, he had a
five eighty three r A coming into the game. They
have to win that game. They have to know that
they need to jump on this guy and the pairs
(19:43):
like they do. They did because that's what they did.
But yeah, that yank Yankees Phillies home stand. Then you
throw the Diamondbacks on who are you know hitting hit
or miss? That's that's kind of the start of it.
Go to Kansas City, I think they're still below five hundred.
Got to go to Toronto, good first place team, you know.
(20:04):
So there that's that's just August guys, you know. And
then you know the two Astro series, the Mets series
at the Mets when de Grom is going to return.
Now that that is followed up by an Astro series,
So I don't know if de Grom would start at
at City Field because they might want to save him
for the Astros. Now it does end a little bit
(20:27):
on the friendly side. You have your three shots at
the Astros, yep, and that one is at home. The
September series is at Houston, and then you go Marlin's
at home, Twins at home, Guardians on the road to
close it out. The thing that sucks there is there's
no division games, no opportunities for you to take care
of business yourself. You got to rely on others to
(20:47):
help you out. But those teams aren't gangbusters, no, and
and you know maybe they will be. And and again
they're kinda they're well the Marlins and definite sellers, Twins
and Guardians are trying to figure out what they're gonna do.
They could look a lot different than they do right now. Yep,
they absolutely could. And yeah, those are you know, those
(21:08):
are the teams that they faced the rest of the way.
And like Jeff said, that August is a bit of
a murderer's row and it's it's right around the corner.
It all starts with the Tigers this weekend. I see
championship games there talking about that interesting series this weekend
between the Astros and the Mariners. And the reality is
the Astros, as good as they were in the first
(21:29):
half and fifty six win team, they haven't been playing
very well of late. Yeah they lost, they lost five
of six. Yeah, yeah, after after sweeping the Dodge, whipping
the Dodgers butts, sorry BC if you're listening, uh, and
and then you know, coming home and and losing getting
swept by the Guardians, and they really could have been
(21:51):
swept by the Rangers. Yeah, but to lose five of
six there and again they haven't you know, Christian Xavier
has started a rehab assignment, so they're going to be
getting him back in the rotation. But they still have
some problems. You know, Jordan Alvarez is not walking through
that door. Jeremy Pinya is going to be coming back soon.
But this this team that you look at those lineups
(22:12):
that that they fielded against the Rangers looked a lot
like a spring training line.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
It really did. These guys, I mean, those guys we
haven't heard of it is.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
You know, all these utility guys, a lot of guys
up from Triple, A lot of rookies. Yeah, so they're
not they they they might have had their hot treak.
You know, you break the season into thirds, uh and
and the Rangers. The Rangers for their first third, they
were two games under five hundreds. Right now they're one
game above five hundred. So if you have your bad
(22:42):
media whatever, then you take off. So you know, that's
that's kind of the the the old thought, the old
thought for winning baseball. You're gonna have a bad one,
you're gonna have an okay one, and then you're gonna
have a good one. So who knows, you know, the Astros,
the Astro might have had their good one here to
(23:03):
start this one or to finish the last one, and
they might be declining.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Who knows.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Sixty five games, so much can happen.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Yeah, it's a lot. It really is a lot. And
if the Rangers are playing well, as we've said before,
even the Tiger, I mean they took two out of
three from the Tigers in Detroit, right, even the Tigers
aren't that imposing or scary of a team as well
as they've played. I'm not sure they're a scary team.
(23:33):
The Yankees have obviously shown their flaws. The Blue Jays
are playing well right now. They're good third maybe right now,
as they have overtaken the Yankees for first place in
that American League East. But I'm not sure they're a
team that imposes fear. And I will say this, when
you have a starting rotation that starts with Jacob de
(23:54):
Gram and Nathan Vivaldi in a playoff series, that is
a team that strikes fear in the hearts of opponents on.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
N and I think that's that might be ultimately what
Chris Young excuse me, and the front officer are clinging
to if they can get in the tournament, you know,
even if they're the last like I think I mentioned
this the other day, if they're the last wild card team,
all right, they go on the road to the division
winner with the worst record and they have to play
(24:23):
three games. Yes, they're on the road. And you know,
you remember twenty twenty three, the Rangers had to go
to Tampa Bay to fit to to get you know,
for that was their reward was a trip to the
Tampa Bay where they had to win two of three games,
and they won them both right away because of good
starting pitching. Uh, no offense to Jordan Montgomery, but Jacob
(24:44):
de Grom. Yeah, people are going to take Jacob de
Grom one hundred times out of one hundred times in
that one. And then you know, if Valdi would pitch
the second game there, So that's you know, you just
got to win twice and you have two of the
best pitchers in the league. Yeah, it's it's it's gonna
be hard for if it happens. If it happens, and
(25:05):
if the Rangers are able to set up the rotation
in that way, nobody's gonna want to face them.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
No, No, it'd be a very difficult team to face.
We've acknowledged the fact that, you know, if for them
to to take it maybe to the next level, they
could address bullpen issues, particularly a closer. Right now, we
hear and reports indicate that I'll be damned if David
(25:31):
Robertson isn't working out for teams. Jeff, Oh, he's not.
He is is, Yeah, he is. Yeah, I saw that
same story. Yeah, he's working He's worked out apparently for
the Mets and the Yankee.
Speaker 5 (25:41):
Well, you know, he lives in uh lives in Providence,
Rhode Island, as we've talked about, and I don't know,
you there's probably a train, you know, from Providence to
be yeah, New York, so you may I don't even
have to move. But I think an East Coast team
makes a lot of sense for for him. And of
(26:03):
course those teams aren't particularly shy on spending money, that's right.
I believe they're already over the luxury tax, so you know,
at this point, you're just putting more wood on the fire.
It doesn't matter. And I would suspect that he ends
up on the East Coast if he ends up pitching.
(26:25):
You know, the Rangers, he had he had about a
seven million dollar I think it was a mutual option.
He turned it down, obviously expecting after his wonderful season
last year to get paid more than seven million. Nothing happened.
So I don't know if he regrets that or not.
He's his own agent. The Rangers, their sense was when
(26:46):
they when they contacted him in the offseason that there
was a lot of hem and hemming and hind on
his part and his family's part about whether he wanted
to continue. Nothing ever gained traction, and I think that
was the case for for every team. Now, if somebody
had come along and said, hey, we'll give you twelve million,
like he basically got from the Rangers to pitch in
(27:07):
twenty four, I'm sure he would have jumped on it.
But I guess that deal didn't exist. And so now,
what what does it look like? Two months? What what
is two months of David Robertson who is yet to pitch?
So you could look at to pitch. Yeah, he has
a fresh arm, but he hasn't faced any good hitters,
(27:28):
you know, does he need to have a little spring training?
Are you gonna live with some bumps and bruises here
in his first few outings. So at that point, then
are you looking at David Robertson for like paying him
for six weeks? You know, and what's that going to
cost you? So maybe that gets the Rangers in the game,
But I still feel like it's an East Coast thing
if this happens.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Yeah, it's probably true. He is forty years old too. Yeah,
I mean at some point and you know, didn't happen
for another six years in the case of a Nolan Ryan.
But at some point you just lose the effectiveness.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Sure, and again, you know, these guys need time to
build up their velocity, and you know a reliever might
be asked, like David Robertson to throw three times in
four days.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
Sure, you know is he is? He built up to
do that?
Speaker 5 (28:18):
And what's it looked like on the second day of
a back to back? Would I be interested in it?
Would I want to watch him throw? Of course I
would if I'm the Rangers. But and and and if
he's going to do this at his age, he doesn't
want to go play for a team that's maybe gonna
make the post, right, he wants to go to a
(28:38):
team that's gonna be in the posting.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Good point, good point, And it looks like both the
Mets and the Yankees have a pretty good shot at
that at this stage of the game. So it'll be
interesting thing to watch. That's another thing that would help
determine if the Rangers are what their record at this
point says they are. Now. Coming up next, we want
to talk about the All Star Game. You probably watched
(29:03):
it if you're watching this show, and we did, and
and the ratings were down a little bit. The show
was pretty good overall, So we're going to get into
some of the nuts and bolts of all that next
on the DLS Rangers Podcast.
Speaker 5 (29:23):
You know what, two in two weeks, these college football
teams start to practice and the seasons right around the corner,
and so in preparation you need to go visit Saturday
Neon dot com and see if our friends there have
a Neon sign for your favorite team. They're licensed with
(29:44):
around fifty college teams, a lot of them from our area.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
And they're not the.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Delicate, expensive signs.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
You get in a bar.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
You know, these are durable led Neon, They last forever.
They only cost you seventy five dollars and they look
just like the real deal. And and they'll custom make
one for you if you if you do so desire,
so go to Saturday nion dot com use the code
DLLs for ten percent off your first over order with
(30:20):
Saturday knon.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
And now it's about to be that time of the year.
And you know, really in Texas for kind of less
that it hasn't happened sooner, but it's about to be
that time of year when it gets hot. I've heard
the weather people saying it. I think it's true. It's
about that time of year to get your rugged road cooler.
If you don't have one yet, get one. If you
do have it, get it out. You're gonna need it.
(30:42):
We're going to get to the higher nineties and eventually
we're going to get to one hundred. But at this
point it seems very unlikely that we're going to have
like sixty days in a row of one hundred.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
Yeah, yeah, it's it's I'm not I'm not going to
say I don't want to, Jenxus, but I've kind of
enjoyed this summer.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Yeah, me too. I haven't mind it at one bit.
Enjoyed the rank and frankly have enjoyed these slightly cooler temperatures.
I tell people in Michigan all the time. We noticed
the difference between like one hundred and ninety two to them,
everything over nineties hot. But anyway, Rugged Rod Cooler is
a great product to have when it's hot, when it's cold.
(31:17):
It takes care of your beverages. Ruggedroad dot com and
get twenty percent off your order. All right, So the
All Star Game, of course, we didn't have a show.
We did a show yesterday, but it was our what
if show, so we didn't really address the All Star Game.
So let's get to it at this point. Jeff and
I kind of kidded at the beginning with the whole
(31:41):
let's get ready to rumble thing. You know, if you
just flipped that baby on early, you're not sure what
you're watching, right, I Mean, there's rappers out there, and
there's a vibe and a scene and everything, and I'm like, okay,
is this a baseball game? And we saw it last
year in Arlington as well. But but they're they're they're
(32:03):
they're showing it up, Jeff.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
They are trying to reach the reach the younger viewers,
and how better to do that than with rappers. Uh
and and I you know, I don't know who any
of these guys are. Well I've probably heard of who
were they?
Speaker 4 (32:17):
I don't know. I don't know who.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
I think i'd heard of them anyway, all right, great,
But yeah, and and and you know, you see a
lot of these the big twelve for instances is reaching out.
But these leagues are are trying to get into that
younger viewership, you know, and the younger demographics. And you know,
(32:38):
whether it's something viral on on the social media channels
or whether it's the promise of a you know, a
cool music act to to kick off the festivities that
seems to be their where they're going.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
The thing I do like.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
That it was kind of ad and came came to
fruition here a couple of years ago is the the
mic on the players in game interviews and microphone. Loved
it and and the Clayton kersh on one was fantastic
And if if you.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
Didn't watch that, go find it on social media. It
was fantastic. He's just so calm, he's taught. He's like
at one point they he he's communicating with the catcher,
but then he goes, oh, hell, what do you want
me to throw? Smoltzy. Yes, John Smoltz is up in
the booth and John John says, throw a cutter. He's like,
I don't throw a cutter. It was so great.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
I loved how he called the fastball the cheese. He's like,
I'm going with the cheese again. Yeah, and you know,
and he ended up striking out Vladimir Guerrero. Is pretty
pretty fun. Uh the time the at bat I watched
of that clip that was that was pretty humorous. And
I'll tell you what, John, I loved the end. I
thought the ending was see and I thought I was
(33:58):
gonna hate it. And then then at occurred to me.
The swing off they call it if you didn't see
game was tied at the end of nine innings. And
rather than again you're you're on a limited number of
pitchers in the All Star Game. They're each only throwing
one inning. It's not like you're saving pictures. It makes
sense right to have a couple of coaches come out
(34:19):
there and have a swing off. And I must admit,
as it was getting ready to happen, I hadn't heard
actually that this was the new way. Is this the
first year of it. That's the first time it's happened.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Yeah. I don't know if they've had a plan for
this in the past, but there it was right so
and it occurred to me. I'm like, oh, I'm going
to hate this idea. And as I'm waiting for it
to happen, I'm like, wait a minute, I love the
shootout in hockey. Yeah, not a big soccer guy, but
I'm sure i'd like the shootout in soccer two something
(34:51):
actually happens. Yeah, there's actual actual shots on goal. Yeah,
I'm sitting there watching the first couple of shootouts that
we had in hockey. I was on Stars Live with
Craig Ludwig at the time, and and you know, we're
both old men. Were kind of like a throw away
the rolls in the game. We'rey and both of us
(35:13):
are on our feet by the end of the shootout.
You know, it's like, WHOA, look at this. This is great.
And I think maybe this is And I saw somebody
quoted saying I think this might be a model for
extra innings, And frankly, I think I might like it
better than the Ghost Runner.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
I would definitely like it better than the Ghost runner.
But you know, I think that's a step too far.
I don't I don't know what that was gonna happen,
but I do think honestly, you know, you look at
the game. The abs the challenge system was in place,
and it got employed late in the game, yes, you know,
(35:52):
and and the umpire didn't. That did a pretty good job. Yep,
the care pause, the define job and then so that
was cool. And that's something MLB has been pushing that
is going to implement. So maybe maybe float float the
little balloon of the swing off for extra innings? Sure, uh,
(36:14):
you know, maybe the home team decides what to do.
I'm sure the Bruce Bocci if all those those four
straight extra inning games, probably by the third one would
have been like, all right, let's swing it off.
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Yeah, absolutely, you.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
Know, even though the Maritors had cal Rally and Rose
Arena and uh whoever else hit home runs, We've got
nobody that can hit one out. Corey Seeger can only
go once. But you know, sen up Corey and Adulus
and and somebody and hopefully they run into it more
than the other team.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
I would. Yeah, And it's a good question by rarities,
and it's pre I mean, that's pre picked. So they
were picked prior to the game. And I didn't realize this,
but then there was a clause they had an altar
and in fact our boy who m v P boy
Schwarber was the alternate. Oh Stowers had been uh selected
(37:09):
and I can't remember. Maybe he was in it. Yeah
he did, but he didn't swing. Oh he didn't swing.
Did he get hurt somebody?
Speaker 5 (37:18):
He didn't have to. He was in the cage hitting now.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Oh, I see no, So the Schwarber was not one
of the three. Oh, he was the alternate, and that
it was Stours who was supposed to be you knows
hit did he hit? Okay, somebody else was supposed to
be in there, and they either had to catch a
flight or something happened and they were gone. So the
alternate Schwober, the first ever MVP of an All Star
(37:41):
game who didn't have a hit.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
And by the way, well I think I think to
Terrarity's point, though, all the starters, O Tani judge, all
the guys you want to see they are gone.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:55):
They the two innings, they shower, they talked to the media.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
They're gone.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
By the fifth, they're all off on a plane somewhere
starting their All Star break.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
So that's you know.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
And I saw some people like, oh, well, baseball missed
the opportunity. You know, it could have have o Tawani
versus Judge, And that's right.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
That is right, But the players aren't hanging around for that.
And if they ever did put this in regular season
games or whatever, of course, the best players on the
team and not you know who knows, they'd have to
create a whole, you know, a whole rule for it
in the Major League Ruel book. But of course the
(38:33):
best players in the game who were available. I suppose
if you had a guy who had been pulled for
a pinch hitter or whatever, I don't think you'd be
allowed to reinsert him. I don't know they'd make Why
wouldn't you Maybe you would, Yeah, they'd make rules. But anyway, Yeah,
it was a pre selected group and Schwarber was the
alternate and then wins the MVP having not had a
(38:56):
hit in the game, So, you know, pretty cool it. Actually,
I actually liked it better than I thought I would.
I was ready to say get off my lawn, and
I did not. Ratings were down a little bit, but
the reality is I think it was, you know, seven
point four million. It's pretty good audience. It's the it's
(39:19):
the highest rated show on Fox, Jeff, since the Super Bowl.
Oh all right, well, now maybe that speaks to Fox's programming.
The Fox programming might be slumping a little bit here.
That might speak to that. However, Yeah, I don't think
it approached any Super Bowl type numbers, but you know,
(39:40):
it was it was a good It was a good show.
I enjoyed it. I loved the Hank Aaron tribute. Yeah,
that was neat. Seven fifteen was the date, and seven
fifteen was the home run, right, and it was in
his in the town you know where he played when
he hit the home I mean, I thought that was
(40:01):
I thought that was really cool.
Speaker 5 (40:02):
His wife looks great for eighty almost nineties, really doulous
really does. But yeah, no, I was watching that with
my son, whose name is Henry, and when my wife
was like, well what do you think about Henry, the
first thing that came to mind was Milo Hamilton's call,
there's a new home run King of All Time and
it's Henry Aaron. So I was able to finally tell Henry, listen,
(40:26):
this is this is this is why I checked off
on Henry so so that was cool. But yeah, I mean,
you know, I saw something the other day on one
of the socials, like the best MLB teams of all time,
and they didn't have Hank Aaron on. Come on, and
they didn't I also have Willie Mays on the team,
which is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
So I you know, you can't.
Speaker 5 (40:47):
Yeah, and they said, they said it during the broadcast.
If you subtract every one of Hank Aaron's seven hundred
and fifty five home runs, he still has more than
three thousand hits. The guy could play. He wasn't just
a a home run hitter. He was a really good hitter,
and he had a good arm in the outfield. Not
as good defensively as Willie May's and probably not as
(41:08):
good as Roberto Clemente who did not hit five hundred homers,
but he did have three thousand hits. But it's a
good tribute. And and you know, they have the Hank
Aaron Award at the end, you know, at the end
every year that's given out during the World Series for
for a guy who did so much he seems to
(41:29):
for whatever he's not being that Mays, Mantle discussion, and
maybe it was because he wasn't in New York and
at the time, you know, Milwaukee might have been like
you know, being in Fiji for for baseball. I'm not
I'm not sure, but I mean, the damn he beat
the Yankees in the World Series in fifty seven, you know,
(41:50):
fifty eight, and this is this was just a good player.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
So I yeah, and we and we don't forget about Clemente,
who was in Pittsburgh, I mean, right, and I ran it.
It's a little closer to the East.
Speaker 5 (42:01):
Coach and his his you know, his death kind of
I suppose, you know, But but Hank Aaron, the stuff
he had to put up with as he was right
during the chase. If you if you do make it
out to the Hall of Fame, ever, those you know,
he and Jackie Robinson obviously had to endure a lot.
There's some like letters and the death threats and things.
(42:21):
It's documented at the Hall of Fame, and it's pretty
pretty powerful sobering, and it kind of lets you know, hey,
you know, and and you know, and and as he's
going toward third and rounding third, those two fans that
jumped out, you know, there's no security snopes. How do
those guys get to him and are able to pat
him on the back right? And I saw a story
I don't know, a celebrating an anniversary of the home
(42:44):
run years ago, and they talked to those two guys like, oh, no,
we were just out there. It's like, this is awesome.
We want to show our appreciation. And they just pat
him on the on his back. But god dang it,
they came in from left from from right field.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Yeah, they came a long way and nobody stopped him.
And of course they're not too long after that. Oh,
Craig Sager was right out there too. I saw that too,
interview him.
Speaker 5 (43:05):
So that was early Craig story. Yeah, early in the
in the Great Craig sag TBSIR T and T whatever
is covering the postseason, all right, and Seger, you know,
he has on one of his color fue or whatever.
After after I think it was after the Rangers clinched
(43:25):
the Alcs against the Yankees, and Tommy Hunter just just
doused Craig Sager, but at the time was battling cancer,
just killed him with a beer, just shook it up
and just sprayed it all over him and Tommy had
no idea who he was. Apparently Tommy had never watched
it in but I was like, come on, man, it's
(43:48):
got cancer. People leave him alone.
Speaker 4 (43:52):
God.
Speaker 2 (43:53):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
One last thing too, about the miked up segments. Did
you did you catch the Jacob Wilson. I did not
Jack Wilson when I was great. Jacob Wilson and Jack
Wilson the only father so father son combo to have
ever played shortstop in an All Star Game, which is
pretty cool. Jack Wilson was in the two thousand and
(44:14):
four game where he was a reserve player for the
Pirates but got in the game and played shortstop. And
then of course Jacob Wilson has surged to the lead
for sure on Rookie of the Year, was the starting shortstop,
you know, for the American League squad this year. And
they were both miked up at the same time and
(44:37):
able to talk to each other, and you know, I
thought that was just really cool. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (44:41):
I remember I remember Jack from uh he played for
the Mariners there when the Rangers were yeah going to
the World Series. Yeah, that's cool. And you know, these
kids you're starting to see and maybe it's always happened.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
I'd have to go. Pay attention.
Speaker 5 (44:58):
You're starting to see a lot of kids, former players
and their kids are in the major leagues and in
some instances they're better versions than their fathers and and
that's that is that is kind of cool to see.
But yeah, that's a fun story. And you know, Apple
(45:18):
doesn't far fall far from this.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
And that's the thing, you know, you see, you've got
the genes. It's hard to beat genetics. And then you've
also got a guy who can tell you no, no, no,
this is the way you need to be training. And
he's got some credibility, right, and some legitimacy because he
he made the major leagues. So anyway, that may be
a segment we need to do someday is just fathers
and sons and who's better and who's worse and all that.
(45:42):
But that is a topic for a different day because
coming up next, uh, it's our cleanup segment. We're going
to clean things up and continue to get you ready
for the second half of the Rangers season next on
the DLLs Rangers podcast.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Hey, it's Ryan Renolds here from it Mobile.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
Now.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
I was looking for fun ways to tell you that
Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for fifteen dollars a month.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
It's back.
Speaker 1 (46:05):
So I thought it would be fun if we made
fifteen dollar bills. But it turns out that's very illegal.
So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give
it a try at mintmobile dot com.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Slash switch from Team in at forty five dollars for
three month plan equivalent to fifteen dollars per month required
new customer offer for first three months only, speeds low
after thirty five gigabytes off network's busy taxes and fsextra
sement mobile dot com.
Speaker 4 (46:29):
Well, first, we want to tell you about our new
series of shirts. It's the Dallas Collection, and Kat the
Queen is wearing the Nolan Ryan one today. I wore it,
as you remember the other day. It's a classic shirt.
You'll see it actually because that day I taped about
three things, so you'll see it.
Speaker 5 (46:47):
You'll see it later. Today you must say, hey, you
might You did a lot of launder.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
Yeah, yeah, you might see it tomorrow. You're gonna think
I don't wash my shirts, but no I do. And
the show, it's a fantastic. Jeff had the black and
white Dallas versus y'all is that what it says, Yeah,
that was against y'all whatever versus. And then there's those
other great ones too. So go to store dot Offcitynetwork
dot com, store dot Allcitynetwork dot com. I might have
(47:15):
said that too fast, and get your shirt and be
a part of that wonderful Dallas collection. And there's other
merchandise there as well. So we encourage you to go
ahead and do that. And there's a chance if you
play your cards right, Jeff, I think there's a chance
our people could get one for free. Sure.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
All you have to do is become a diehard. See
they're easypasy. So basically, these shirts are thirty four ninety five.
Diehard membership is seventy nine ninety nine. You can do
the math, all right. It's basically if you want if
you want a shirt, you're like, all right, I'm just
gonna go ahead and become a diehard because it's like
I'm getting it for the price of the shirt. You know,
(47:57):
It's just it just makes too much sense to not
become a diehard. You know, you get my stuff that's
behind the paywall, but you get all the stuff for
all the written all the written stuff we do for
all the teams we cover, uh, and nobody covers the
four metroplex professional big big teams. I want to slight
(48:17):
the the w n b A, but uh, the four
legacy professional outlets are out outfits like we do. We're
better than the other guys.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
Just trust me.
Speaker 5 (48:28):
So go to uh scan the QR code or go
to Allcity dot Com slash and join.
Speaker 4 (48:33):
Yeah, we encourage you to be a die hard be
uh be right there and get all that kind of
stuff that that we offered there. Okay, So I bring
this up.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (48:43):
Usually at least once a week, I bring up some
sort of power ranking, and I usually do it just
to get us mad, right and we and for us
to conclude, well, that's an you know, that's a BS
ranking anyway, so away we go. But this time I
actually brought it up because they finally got one. Right.
Oh okay, I think, let me see if I have
(49:05):
the actual thing here starting Pitcher power rankings right here,
And of course you know it's it's probably not surprising
last week's number one remains number one. That's Trek Scooble, who,
by the way, you can see pitch against your Texas
Rangers on Sunday Sunday Night baseball game. Probably still get
(49:30):
a ticket to it, but maybe.
Speaker 5 (49:31):
Time eighteen dollars starting at eighteen dollars.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
Oh in game time. There you go. So Trek Scooble's
number one. He's pitching against Nathan Valdi on Sunday Night Baseball,
so that's a fantastic pitching matchup. Zach Wheeler of the
Phillies was second last weekend. He's second this week. Number
three has moved up from number four. Paul Schemes, Okay,
(49:56):
all right, I feel like they've gotten them pretty good.
Last week we went through this whole damn list and
it took till number nine to get to the guy
who's number four this week, Jacob de Gram. And so
apparently these voters have finally started watching the damn games, right,
(50:19):
you got to watch the games. Garrett Crochet is number five.
He's up from seven. Christopher Sanchez Phillies is not ranked
last week. Well, this alt's all the way to six.
Speaker 5 (50:31):
This might be his All Star you know, yeah, the
All Star snub thing.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
Yeah, oh yeah, a little bound.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
Whoever did these lists might have been snubbing him too.
Speaker 4 (50:40):
Yeah, heck of a point. Matthew Boyd of the Cubs
wasn't rated last week. He's number seven, eight is Seth Lugo,
and number nine is Ranger Suarez and ten down a
little down all the way from three having had difficulty
with the Rangers boxt weekend Hunter Brown.
Speaker 5 (51:02):
So, I mean I'd still put a Valdi on the list.
Speaker 4 (51:04):
I know, I was just gonna say, is it because
he's not not a qualifying qualifier. Maybe he's not. He's
not even on the honorable mention, So that's pretty crazy. Okay,
it's a BS list, No, but it's at least they
did at least they did right by de Gram and
that match up this this Sunday night of and you know,
(51:25):
I really think if they weren't trying to you know,
preserve and and stretch out, you know, give give Jacob
de Gram as many as much off time as they can,
I think it would be a Schoobl de Gram matchup, right. Yeah,
Scooblivaldi ain't bad. I'll take it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (51:46):
You know, last time Schoobl pitched against the Rangers, he
was up against Patrick Corban. I'll be damned if Corban
didn't pitched as well. Yeah, I mean, school was really good.
I think he struck out twelve in that game, but
the Rangers ended up that was the only game the
Tigers on the Rangers won that series. Yeah, I I, uh,
these these rankings their clickbait.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
They are. I get it. No, I get it. I clicked,
I click every time. I'm trying to just double check
on that. Uh, that game against the Tigers, we thought
last time. Okay it was a two to one game. Yeah, yeah,
two to one game. So Patrick Corbyn once again allowed
(52:29):
two runs or fewer and lost and lost. So uh
that was tough. But like Jeff said, the Rangers won
the next two and and de Gram was the starting
pitcher in the Saturday game in that series. So anyway,
that's you know, that's just a thought on those power rankings.
How about this one as we cleaned things up on
(52:50):
this Thursday, Paul Skenes and Trek Scoobel, who were one
and three on the list, by the way, Uh, they
were interviewed sometimes surrounding the All Star Game. I don't
know if you saw this. I just caught it today.
I didn't see it when it happened. Between the two
of those men, Okay, between the two of them, they
had three offers for college scholarships. Three offers.
Speaker 5 (53:15):
Well, and then Schimes went to the Air Force, right initially.
Speaker 4 (53:19):
And I wonder maybe that maybe that scared people, maybe
like he's already committed to Air Force. But uh, they
had between them three offers for college scholarships and look
at the two of them.
Speaker 5 (53:32):
Now, yeah, it's fantastic. And you know, air Force not
a baseball power.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (53:37):
They play there in Caruto of Springs where the which
I believe is higher in elevation than Denver. Okay, something
I should know as a car Out a native. But
the ball flies. And he was a two way player,
you know, he's a catcher and and the base and
a pitcher. And they went to went to LSU and
LSU said, now you're just going to pitch for us. Yeah,
so obviously worked out wonderful. But you know, and it
(54:01):
kind of goes back to even what I always say,
you know, my shiny example of you never know when
a player is gonna blossom. And Nelson Cruz is that guy.
He was twenty eight when he finally became an all
star caliber, everyday caliber player in the major leagues. So
you know, and and on the heels of the draft,
you know, it's like, obviously it's very inexact. You know,
(54:25):
you have these two guys, a cy Young Winner and
a future CY Young Winner, a guy who's dating Livy Done,
and you know scouts just missed it. Yeah, it's unbelievable.
So what does that say about these guys who are oh,
these guys who are taking in the top ten.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
Ah, they can't miss. They're gonna be stars. You never know,
You just never know. Yeah, no, you really don't. Speaking
of Livy Done and Paul Skeins, did you see the
shot of Paul Skins rebuckling the strap of her sandal?
Oh I'm not red car And there were there were
(55:01):
things all over social media about what a gentleman he is.
Uh huh And I agree, right, that's very nice on
the red carpet, uh too, or any place. Yeah, to
buckle buckle her sander, but it's Livy Done. For God's sake,
I don't think you need to be a gentleman. Will
buckle that baby up?
Speaker 5 (55:19):
Yeah, you know, she's obviously very flexible as a gymnast,
But that dress she was wearing, I don't know if
it left for a lot of room for bending.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
Over, bending over to buckle up your own sandal.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
So anyway, but that's that's a nice Uh, that's what
a nice what a nice guy. He seems like a
nice guy. He really does. He wants to he wants
to cut grass when he's done playing baseball. There's nothing
wrong with that at all. I got to go do
that today or tomorrow. Not at all. There's something. It's
something and the smell and the you get lost in
the sound. I like, uh, I like grass cutting. I
(55:49):
don't cut my own, but I like I got a
big got a big lot, all right. So ever heard
of Maya Brady. I've heard of Jan Brady. Maya Jan
Jan was my favorite, now, okay, I like Jan better
than Marcia. Cindy was too young. But uh Maya uh
(56:13):
is the niece of one Tom Brady. Oh okay, and
Maya is a player in the a u s L.
Oh okay right, the new professional Women's softball league here
in the United States. And Maya well, she she had
(56:34):
an injury. I think she went over to Japan uh
to play softball at first before the a USL had
kicked off, But since she got back, she came back
and she she uh it was a hammy. Oh, got
the hammy, got the hammy all done. It was a
Grade two hamstring. That's bad. It's a bad one. So
(56:57):
she plays for the Talons. Remember there's no cities associated
with these teams yet, they're just teams. They were playing
her first game at the Family Softball the Dumpkey d
U M K. E. Dumkey Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake, Utah.
She couldn't wait to play this game. And I'll be
(57:17):
damned if she doesn't come up there, Jeff. And she
goes two for two with a walk and scored a
run and had a perfect game, I mean, you know
for her, right, yea perfect at the plate. And but
it does beg the question. She's Tom Brady's niece. Ye,
Like we talked about Apple's not falling far from the
(57:38):
tree and all that is she is she you know,
sort of that good athletically, she must be. She played
softball at UCLA. But then is there also that Brady
gene right? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (57:52):
He speaking of speaking of you know, drafts to Tom
Brady a six round pick, you know, that's right, one
what a thousand Super bowls?
Speaker 4 (57:59):
So yeah, in an exact science that drafting.
Speaker 5 (58:03):
Yeah, Molly My daughter is still still has her eyes
on that professional softball league, so she'll be joining in
probably about ten years. Yeah, well, yeah, I think she.
She thinks she's going to go to high school, right.
You think she might get drafted out, I.
Speaker 4 (58:19):
Think she will. If not, she's going to go to Oklahoma. Okay, good, Yeah,
I like the plan. I was Jock doing rarity wonders
better you know, yeah, early August.
Speaker 5 (58:29):
Early August. He's been traveling with the team. I wanted
to make sure I got Steve Cook. He proposed trading
Kamar Rocker and Cam Colly for Mason Miller. Probably not
Steve and yeah, but they're not going to get rid
of Rocker just yet. But I like that Mason Miller.
(58:51):
I don't know if the A's would want to trade
him in the division and vice versa with Rocker. I
think ready to be fine if Cam Colly found success elsewhere.
But I like these I like the time of here.
I like to see these trade ideas.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
It's interesting too that Rocker is pitching a head of
lighter as we come back from the break. Does that
Does that signal anything to you? Well?
Speaker 5 (59:17):
I think the reason I know the reason Corman is
starting the opener is because one of the five pitchers
had to go on normal rest because they play six
straight games a day off, and and Corbin has been
their most durable, pliable, easy going, maintenance free guy. So
(59:42):
they like his ability to bounce back on four days,
plus they want to give the rest to these other guys.
But you look at that, Corbyn's going to give you
five to seven innings, right, Rocker, You're not sure. Valdi,
you probably think in six or seven. Yeah, all right,
and then you go the lighter It's like, eh, boy,
maybe five maybe six, But then you come back with
(01:00:05):
de Gram and Corbin, and so that's like two built
in days hopefully for your bullpen where the workload is lighter.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
Yeah, okay, makes sense. That's a nice theory. The second
half of the season begins tomorrow. There's a workout for
the team, not open to the public, workout for the
team today at Globe Life Field. We'll be all over
that and will be around tomorrow as we try to
take a look at the second half and back. Next
time you talk to us will be Sunday as we
(01:00:34):
wrap up that Tigers series. Will be you and Abby though,
because that'll be on vacay. Jeff's heading for vacation, so
Abs and I will be on that series finale that's Sunday,
right after the game. We will see you then on
the DLLs Rangers podcast.
