welcome to the DLLs Rangers Weekly Podcast. Is episode number

(00:53):
thirty six. Today, Josh Snead is going to join us
from the Real Funny Commie the End. A big Cincinnati
Red fan, a big baseball fan, and have a baseball
card collector and just all card collector. But Jeff and
I have become friends with Josh is a He's just
got a new comedy special out. Did you watch it?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
I listened to it on my drive to Houston, so
I haven't watched it, but I heard it from start
to finish, and it is very, very funny.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
It is funny, and I always compare guys. If you
are a Nate Bargatzi fan, who I am, I'm a
huge Nate Bargozzi fan. Josh need is like Nate Bargotzi.
This is a guy that you can watch his stuff
in front of your children. You can queue it up
on the TV, have the whole family, your parents, your
in laws, you can have everyone there and nobody's gonna go,

(01:49):
what in the hell are you watching? What is this stuff?
Because I find some comment comedians still hysterical who go
dark blue and cuss all the time. If your stuff
is funny, it's funny, So I don't mind it. I'm
not offended if you cuss or do all that. This
is a guy that doesn't. His stories are relatable and
a lot of fun, and it's he's fun to talk

(02:09):
to and a big baseball guy.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
And you know, the Reds are having a Reds are
having a heck of a season. So I'm I'm curious
to see what he has to say about that.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Well, listen, we're gonna get into the Rangers. Tell everybody
where you are because he is not in studio.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yeah, I am in I'm in Houston, my hotel room
and uh, getting ready for the series, big series. We
don't we don't need to sugarcoated. Yeah, it's it's definitely important.
These guys need to these guys need to have a
good series this weekend. There's just there's just no There's

(02:48):
just no way other way around it. You know, they
they they were I don't know how to look at
this Angel series. I mean they basically they blew two games.
You know, they they should have. They should they could
have swept the series. They didn't. I think they're a
better team then. I think they're a better team than

(03:09):
the Angels. But I tell you what, you know, they weren't.
They weren't Monday and Wednesday. And those are the mistakes
that they can't they keep making that they can't make.
I think you saw the Bullpens fatigue factor come into
play both nights and then just some mental mistakes that

(03:29):
this team is. Yeah, it doesn't do often, but because
they play so many close games, you remember the times
that they do and you automatically go to that and
you're like, this team can't play defense. This team can
play defense. But it's like, yeah, you know, come on,
it's it's just part of the whole mad Neat experience

(03:50):
that that Rangers fans have been dealing with all season.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Yeah, exactly, and and you know, look, hey, I tweeted
it out last night, I'll say it again. If this
offense is going to be the offense that we're going
to see that we have seen the last three or
four games, if they're starting to come around, I mean,
if the pitching can be basically what it is normally

(04:16):
and even close, they don't have to be even as
good as they've been. This is a team that is
very capable of getting on a streak and doing something
because the offense, certainly, I mean, look, this was not
two guys on hit a home run. These guys were
two outs, moving players. Everybody was taking a turn. I mean,
this has happened two or three knots in a row.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Now. Yeah, and really, if you want to go back
to the beginning of the month. The Rangers are are
one of the best offensive teams in the American League.
They are. It's just look at the stats and you're
seeing great things from Segur and Simeon and we don't

(05:00):
important they are to this team. And uh, you know,
Garcia is still you know, he's cooling off maybe a
little bit, but he's still been much better than he
was to start the year. And then you know on
nights like Thursday night last night, Uh, you see like
Jonah him just instead of trying to take a huge swing,

(05:21):
just put the ball in play.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
It's just good to see that that these guys maybe
are realizing maybe we should we shouldn't try to hit
home runs every time we're up there. Maybe maybe maybe
they're realizing that there are more ways to get around
uh at home plate and to make this to be
to be a good offensive team. And so it's hey,

(05:48):
you know, it's something to build on, I think. But
then you know, you're you you gotta you gotta be
able to be good pitchers. And that's that's gonna be
the next thing for the Rangers to deal. They have
they have They face a couple of real good ones

(06:08):
this weekend.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
And yeah, and you can't be shut down. I mean, look,
you've got to you've got to try to and look,
if he is getting you out, you've got to at
least make him work where you can maybe get him
out of the game early for stuff like that, stuff
that they haven't done. You know, those six six pitch
innings can't happen. You know, you need to be up
there trying to work on and that's what they've done

(06:31):
the last couple of games too. But this is a
big series and the pitching matchups this weekend are phenomenal.
This is gonna be it's gonna be a fun series.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, Tonight it's it's lighter against the Colors. Got to
see if Jack and rebound, and then Saturday can crown
against Framberveldez and then Evaldi against Hunter Brown. So you
kind of look at the weekend the ras, they're all
under three of all these down there, and uh, still

(07:01):
can't get on the All Star team somehow. But this
this is a it should be a good weekend of baseball.
If you like pitching, you know, offenses are gonna to
be opportunistic when we get a mistake. They're gonna have
to hit it, h you know. And and the Rangers
have had some success in the pass against Ramberg and

(07:22):
then other times they've just been completely shut down. You
almost no hit him last year. And uh, you know,
so Hunter Hunter Brown has really come on and been
incredibly pleasant development for the Astros.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
So, and they're they're a good team, I know, they
they it's crazy that they went to l A. And
they went to l A and swept the Dodgers, and
they came home and got swept by the Guardians who
had lot of you know, that's just the way baseball goes.
And people don't like hearing that maybe, but in a

(07:58):
long season, crazy stuff happens.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
Well, there are some Ranger fandom that don't think if
the Rangers don't go undefeated from here on out, then
the world is over and everyone should be fired. So
that's the element is they're not going to do that.
They what they've got to continue to do is win series.
They can't lose a bunch of series. They split a
series with the Angels which they probably should have won.
That's for sure. They got to go into the Houston

(08:21):
and get a couple of games I mean, that's just reality.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
It.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
They can get a couple of games, it's all good.
You'd love a sweep, but you know that's asking a lot.
This is a good team that you're dealing with. More
than anything, You got to win more than you lose
going out, and then you got to quit looking at
scoreboards right now. You just got to take care of
what's in front of you.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Right And you know, the Rangers are kind of at
a I don't say delicate, but it's a they're in
a very fragile part of their career because put up
their shut up yep. Yeah, and they you know, they
could very easily fall out out of contention where to

(09:01):
where Chris Young is like, sorry, guys, we're good. Or
they could you know, kind of stay where they're at now,
keep playing tight game, showing some fight, maybe win a
few more than they lose, and and and he'll be
convinced to buy. But I think you know, with that

(09:22):
third that third wildcard spot, you know, it's such a
difference maker, and there's so many teams that believe they
can make it, and you know, the Ranger three and
a half out of that last wildcard spot, that's nothing.
Now you need help because there are teams in front
of you. But you know, with with in theory, with
de Gram and Vivaldi, you're not gonna lose more than
three three games in a row, you know, maybe maybe four,

(09:45):
But they could also help you springboard you to to
four or five wins in a row. Sure, And you
know the Braak's gonna be big for the bullpen to
get some some need and rest all. You know, lots
of lots of reasons to be optimistic. Unfortunately, there you know,
are reasons to be pessimistic because and and we know

(10:10):
it's true. There's been ninety games of evidence here that
it's that the Rangers are you know, the roller coaster,
and it's it's it's tough, and I get it, and
I respect everybody being upset with the Rangers, and can

(10:31):
understand people who say this team is not going to
make the playoffs. And it's hard to disagree. Right now,
I don't know this is a playoff team. But the
damn season so long and the offense is finally starting
to go, So there's there's reasons to to have some faith.
But and I'm not pumping I'm not pumping sunshine here
I'm not speaking for the club, just speaking from experience.

(10:54):
You know, this is the season so so long, and
you can look at all kinds of exams, not just Rangers,
past Rangers teams, just pass teams around the game who
have been sucky for ninety games and then all of
a sudden they end up in the postseason. It's a
real thing. It really happens. And that's why that's why

(11:15):
these Rangers keep saying we're a good team. You know,
we're fine. You know, we just need to get going,
and there's time to get going. All those things are true.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Yeah, And the thing that really stinks, and I get
where Ranger fans get upset and they're looking at this
deadline saying, you know, either sell or there's some that
are saying, who you're gonna go get and do all
of that? This team assembled now, if all are playing
up to capabilities, is the team? I mean, could they
use a true closer? I mean they've done well this year.

(11:46):
They really haven't blown Remember the twenty three year, they
were blown saves all year long. They haven't really done
that yet. They've had a couple of them that have
had some bad situations. But you know, but all in all,
this team has the So what could they do with
the trade deadline? Everybody talks about a d H sort
of bat that they could go get or maybe a

(12:06):
true closer. First of all, I don't think they're gonna
rent anybody unless they go on a tear here and
there's a good cheap rental or maybe a decent person
they could get on a rental, but they need to
get on a tear right before the deadline to do that.
But I mean, who who is a possibility?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Well, you know, I think a renter, excuse me, a
rental reliever is a possibility.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
You know.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
They they're cheap in terms of a finances at this
point in the year, and then be a rental is
not going to cost you a ton of prospects, you know,
and so that one's that one's doable on a rental.
But I think, and I wrote this at all d
ls dot com, Uh, there are a lot of ways

(12:55):
that there are three ways angle they could be just
straight buyers. Okay, they could they could be sellers, but
not a fire sale. You know. Speaking of one year relievers,
the Rangers have about a thousand of them, So you
know those guys, those guys get traded if the bottom
falls out, And then another way to do it is
to kind of look at helping this year's club and

(13:19):
also looking ahead to twenty six and beyond. And that's
where like you want to get maybe a controllable starter
who might be available. Uh, and and they're you know,
those aren't easy to get because everybody wants starting pitching.
Everybody wants controllable starting pitching. And the Rangers do seem
to be kind of, you know, a on a financial leash,

(13:42):
if you will, So they're gonna have to get creative.
So you could you could maybe see a major leaguer
for a major leader, a deal like that. But I
just I just the fire sales not happening. I don't
the cores, the chorus staying intact.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
You know.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
I think potentially if if a name were to be traded,
it would be a doless just because he's just he's
just not the player. Uh. You know next year that
the Rangers are gonna want to invest a ton of
money into I hope mill NERD doesn't go, you know,
if I don't have a chance they need Tobie Milner.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
I agree, but if they fall out, that's a guy
that would be popular.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yeah, And honestly, if they fall out, wonder you wonder
if a team would be interested in Patrick Corbman. That's
anothers what he's done this year. He signed for a
million bucks. The Rangers have gotten so much value out
of Patrick Corban it's not even funny.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
Well, the Rangers did something too that nobody gives them
credit card. They have loaded up on depth. I mean,
I mean to have corbyin, you've got these other guys,
you know, the depth at starting rotation has really served them.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Well.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Then they've got three guys in the minor leagues that
you and I have talked about that could be set
to maybe help out at the big league level when
you've got people like Drake and Bratt and stuff like that,
which they're probably not gonna get here this year, but
they could. I mean, let's say they sell off, that
could be two guys that in here by the end
of the year. I don't know. But depth is so important.

(15:15):
That's why you see them sign these guys that come
in for one year or whatever that aren't getting the
deals that they want, and they picked up a couple
of them and then but you know, coming in. I
think if they do a lot of big moves, it's
gonna be in the off season. I think in the
off season, yeah, they might. They might readjust this thing.
There's gonna be guys that are gonna come off the

(15:35):
books obviously that become free agents. And then there's gonna
be guys that they just trade and they they reset
and go. And let me ask you this. I've kind
of wondered this. I think it leans way more no
than yes. But would they consider it a call Tucker?

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Well, you know, I would hope.

Speaker 5 (15:55):
So you know, there's your right field solution.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
What is Kyle Tucker going to get paid? You know,
probably thirty million a year, right.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
And twenty nine or thirty something like that, And.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
The Rangers have Malley and Gray coming off the books,
and that's thirty.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Million right out there.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Hey heyo. And if they don't do adules, then that's
another nine and a quarter. Really projected projected arbitration salary
at this rate is probably around twelve. So if you
want to think, well there's forty two million, Corbin forty three,
all these relievers probably probably don't add up to about
ten or twelve. But let's say they have fifty five

(16:39):
million to play with before raises through arbitration and stuff
like that. That gets to Kyle Tucker, you know then,
but then you really are kind of in a similar
spot where you're beholding on these relievers on one year deals,
you know, lighter and rock here at that point or

(17:01):
or no question in the rotation next year, and you
still are gonna need another starter, so you know, you
probably want a more veteran guy. So I I think
I think it's a possibility. I wouldn't I wouldn't discount it.
I don't know if Tucker could live with himself signing
with the Rangers. I'm sure that a pile of money
could make away, make all the astros loyalties he feels

(17:23):
go away. But it'll be interesting, John. I I would
hope that they at least give it a shot.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
I would have never thought. But then all of a sudden,
I started looking at where the salary's gonna hit and
go there, and I'm like, you know, if a Dolee
isn't the guy that you and I kind of both
agree on that that I don't think that he's necessarily
going to be back here next year. He's he's underperformed again.
And uh, I like a Dolee one of the greatest

(17:52):
guys to deal with. He's such a sweet guy. But
I mean, this is a team that, let's let's be honest,
they think they should be contending. And uh, that's an upgrade.
I'm sorry, it's an upgrade right there.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
So yeah, and you know, and Tucker is a good
defensive player. Uh, you know the problem the problem with
the lineup, and you're not seeing it right now, although
you are kind of when it's not going well. Too
many aggressive hitters they have. They have a Doulas and
Jake Berger and Josh Young, who's you know, having to
get reset there, triple A, Simeon Seeger him. You know,

(18:27):
that's six ultra aggressive hitters. Langford is an aggressive hitter seven.
So you need a couple. You can't have seven of
those guys who who the only way they get on
base is through is through getting base hits, because if
you're not hitting, then you're not getting on base.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Now.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Simeon and Seger obviously will draw, will draw walks, but
the point being you need to balance out the lineup.
And and Evan Carter, you know, he kind of he
he gets pointed to a lot is the with the
best at bats and and I tell you Alejandro Sooner
puts together some good at bats. So it is Kyle

(19:08):
of Gashioka. The results aren't always there, but he does
put together. Yeah, so you you need some more guys
like that. And uh, you know, because as we saw,
when everybody slumps pitch, opposing teams aren't afraid of me,
and they don't they don't pitch around you. The only

(19:30):
one that gets pitched around is Corey, seeger And and
good for Cory. Good on Corey for taking his walks.
You know, he has a he has a fourteen game
on bass streak, you know, good, good for him, and
and recognizing and and then maybe maybe him taking walks

(19:50):
is having a trickle down effect on on guys like well, shoot,
if Corey can take a walk, and maybe if Corey,
the most aggressive hitter the Rangers have had since Josh Hamilton,
can on first pitches at least, if he could take
a walk, then I can take a walk. If he
can take a first pitch, then I can take a
first pitch. Absolutely, And you know it's all about recognizing

(20:11):
the pitch out of the hand. Is that a ball
is a strike? Is it? Does it look like a
a strike? But it's a slider and it's gonna fall
off the plate. Just things that that these guys seem
to be doing a better job of.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
Wait, yeah, it's gonna be interesting. It's gonna be intriguing. Listen,
We're gonna let you know right now. These next two
weeks are kind of up and if he on there,
I've got to go somewhere next week. We may try
to get something together next Friday. I don't know, but
you're out of town the week after that for sure.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah, little little family vacation.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
So we may be this may be off for two weeks, guys,
I don't know yet, but.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
But we need to figure out a way to get
to get Kip fag On after the draft, after the dure.
We can see maybe if he can do Wednesday or Thursday,
yes week because the drafts only uh, the drafts only
two days this year it's Sunday on Monday, so maybe
maybe that pushes him up. But we'll look into it.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
But yeah, but we've gotta This is a this is
gonna be a fun one. Today. We need to get
we need to get josh On here and start talking
about us, his Reds and his comedy special.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Absolutely Josh Need, Guys right after this. Okay, guys in
joining us right now from Cincinnati. It is our friend
and our stand up comedian of the show. I'm telling
you that right now. It's Cincinnati read super fan stand

(21:39):
up comedian Josh Need, who's got a new special out
now called Fat Ryan. We're about to talk about that too.
By the way, you need to go see this. It's
a new special. He'll tell you how to see it.
It's it's hysterical. Jeff and I both have watched it. Josh,
what's up?

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Man?

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Hey, boys, I got I'm gonna be honest with you.
It feels good to be talking to you when the
Reds are over five hundred. It's a new thing. I
haven't experienced it yet. It's only a couple of games,
but I'll take it. We're in late July, mid July,
and things are not gloom and doom like when I
usually talk to you.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, you know, two games about five hundred. The they
played the Rangers. That was the first road series for
the Rangers where it was frigid cold Rangers two out
of three, two two to one nothing games, and then
the Reds went and lost one nothing the next night too,
which was crazy, but that's the way baseball goes. But yeah,

(22:37):
it's been a reversal of fortunes, I would guess, but
great pitching.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
It's been fun to watch. I hope Hunter Green comes back,
and I hope Chess Burns quit's telling people what he's
about to throw. But if those two things happen, I
think it could make for a fun couple of months here.

Speaker 5 (22:58):
The wild Card?

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Yeah, where where Where's Rhet Louder right now?

Speaker 2 (23:02):
See, I don't know the official word. I think that
he had a pretty major setback, So I don't know
if we'll see him this year, which is a real bummer,
but it'd be an embarrassment of Riches if he If he,
you know, got healthy, and you know, Andrew Rabbits an

(23:22):
All Star and Brady Singers seems to be the real deal.
I think we got the best of that trade with
the Royals for India. You know, Nick Martinez can almost
throw a no hitter one night and then uh, and
then get absolutely shelled by the Marlins. Like, who knows
what's going on with him? But I don't know. Man,

(23:44):
it's it's fun. I'm curious to see what they do
with the trade deadline. It's been a while since we've
been potential buyers, so I don't know. It's they're fun
to watch there. I think Terry Francona is like the
real deal when it comes to just improving the talent
in the clubhouse.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, and I think the Rangers experienced that with Bruce
Bochi initially. And you know, these are world series winning guys,
hall of Fame guys, and they make a difference. They
command respect, but they're not jerks. You know. They let
the players police themselves and you know, kind of speak up,

(24:26):
but they make a decision. It's like you can't say, oh,
what have you ever done?

Speaker 2 (24:30):
You know? That's right?

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yeah I ended the Red Sox curse. That's what I did.
What about what about you, young fellow? What have you done?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
You know?

Speaker 3 (24:39):
So?

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Yeah, his seat I don't know if you guys saw
this or not, but his seat in the dugout is
a is a fishing chair. It's like a chair from
a fishing boat that they installed in. Yeah. I did
not see that big padded chair. It's awesome. He is
like people love him around here.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Yeah, he's a who. He's a good guy. And Nick
Martinez drafted drafted by the Rangers from Fordham University, And
it was pretty funny. In two thousand, gosh fourteen, the
Rangers had all these injuries in the rotation to start
the year and we have our meeting with the general

(25:22):
manager before camp breaks. We're like, hey, who's the rotation.
He goes, well, it's this guy, this guy, this guy,
this guy, and he guesses on the fifth guy, Nick Martinez.
It was Nick Martinez who had never pitched him up
high a I don't think, And he did fine, you know,
and he's made a nice career, went to Japan, he's

(25:42):
made a bunch of money, and he's getting paid huge
money this year because he got the qualifying offer, which
was very surprising.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
I was surprised too. But everybody loves him, you know
he and I love his you know, pacing in the
dugout like he's just got a good energy. And I
love his attitude that hey, you need me to come
in long relief or throwing inning one night and then
start a couple of nights later, Like that's the kind
of that's the kind of guys you want to see

(26:09):
on the team.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Yeah, No, he's a he's a good, good dude. So glad,
glad for his success. But yeah, you know, is there
is there playoff fever in Cincinnati?

Speaker 2 (26:20):
I mean there's certainly hopefulness. Again, like you you hate,
it's not hard to remember years where this time of
year you're already going wins training camp start for the Bengals. Yeah,
so it's nice to I don't know, I feel like
the even if they don't make the playoffs, that there's
at least a sentiment that it there's a different vibe

(26:42):
and that the the players are energized and you don't
feel like when they're down three or four runs early
in the game that they're out of it, Whereas I
feel like that used to be that that was the
case even last year, where it's like if you didn't
if you didn't put six or seven on the board
early and get their starter out, that it was over.

(27:04):
You know, if we can solidify the bullpen. I like
Amelia Pegan. Uh, he's a great dude. I'm curious to
see if he has that closer mentality. I would love.
I would love a guy that I'm just confident, you know,
comes in and shuts down in the ninth because Alexis Diaz.

(27:25):
I thought he was going to be that guy and
and he's not. I hope he gets it figured out,
but I don't know.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
Man.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
It's uh, it's nice to to feel like there's some
stuff to get excited about.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
Yeah, well, Pegan at least has the experience. He's done
it before. He's been It's been a little inconsistent at times,
but he's at least you can be like, all right,
he's got track record, and then it just takes a
guy getting hot and a little Yeah. Look the three playoffs, yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
One hundred and if they get if I just wish
their hitting was a little more consistent. Maybe it's that
way with every team, but I feel like we'll put
up twelve runs on somebody and then not score a
run for three days, and it's just like, if we
can get three or four runs a game with the
way our starting pitching has been, I mean, we'll be

(28:21):
in every game and we We've looked good against the Dodgers,
we've looked good against the Yankees. So that kind of
stuff's encouraging. But then you know, when you split with
the Marlins, you're like, oh, man, like that's that's the
life of a Reds fan.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
Well, tell about the Ranger fan right now? Good lord,
the Rangers. You're describing the Rangers if they could ever
score four or five runs. The pitching staff's the best
in the American League right now, you know all of that,
it's the same thing.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
The Rangers are fun man. You know, a lot of
people use like fantasy football to be informed on teams
out side of their favorite team, you know, or gambling.
You know, they follow other teams. I have crippling addiction
to sports cards, which uh which about on a number

(29:13):
of occasions. So I've I pay attention to the to
the Rangers prospects and those guys coming up, because you know,
I'll pull some of their cards out of out of packs,
you know, and and want to follow along to see
how they're doing. But you guys are fun, man, It's
a fun team.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
They can't be they can be maddening, but you know,
like the Grom well, well, Cincinnati has a lot of
young starters. The Grom and Ovaldi are like as a
veteran as it gets. And grom Is is so good.
We're finally seeing it, you know. Yeah, if we didn't
follow the National League. We didn't really get the experience
there in eighteen nineteen.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
This guy y, Yeah, he's he's special man, and you
just feel like you can tell, you know, like like
with what happened to urban burns in Arizona too, Like
you can just tell it means something to these guys.
And they hate, they hate being hurt. You know, they
get these contracts and the fans are mad because they
don't get to see these guys, but you can see

(30:12):
it when they're out there that it's why that people
invest that kind of money in them, because when they're
on they are unhittable.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Yeah. And when when he did get hurt, and like
he talked to the media, he had to choking back tears.
He wanted it so bad. And you know some guys will,
especially the long term injury guys, they'll come in and
get their work and leave. He was at the ballpark
every night. I mean, he was invested in it. And
you're right, you know, he's making forty million this year

(30:42):
and some people think it's a bargain. I mean it's
it's it's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
Yeah, well a bargain is uh is that kid from
the Brewers. He's he's, oh.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
My god, yeah yeah. And Schemes is still a bargain. Damn,
that's central man.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
And the Cardinals are never bad, Like I just want,
I want one year. Just give me one year where
they are terrible. And they are never terrible.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
You're right, You're right, you're right. Listen.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
You know, I gotta say this. And I don't know
what's going on, And it was probably Jeff and I
talked about it at one time. So our Double A
team is real close. It's actually closer to me than
the Ranger Stadium, which we go to a lot. And
I was out there one day to watch watch a
game and I was in the press box and there
were two scouts there and one was Cincinnati Red scout

(31:39):
and he was talking to a guy I think from
the Diamondbacks or whatever, and he was the Cincinnati Red
scout was saying he had been at He goes, well,
I was in Hub City. I was in Hickory there
and then I went to Hub City and now I'm
here and he's like, boy, they got you following the
Rangers around and uh so, And I was like, hey,
what you know, could something be cooking between the Rangers
and the that's yeah. I mean, because look, you have scout.

(32:02):
They have certain guys that go to just cover teams.
Some scouts are only in areas or whatever. So I
was kind of fluffed off with it. Could just be
getting all their homework done and doing that. But I
know that they can cut down on travel. You know,
they have your local guys, go scout these guys and
then you're what your cross checkers or whatever coming later.
Kind of that. I don't know, we'll watch that. I

(32:24):
don't know what could be on m.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Trade deadline.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Yeah, I would love that, man, It's so exciting. Like
like Jeff Passing yesterday proposed like a team a trade
for every team that's currently over five hundred, and for
the Reds, he suggested acquiring Stephen Kwan and and I

(32:50):
would like just just someone in media outside of Cincinnati
proposing a way for the Reds to get better. Like
everyone is buzzing about a suggestion from that. You know,
normally it's, you know, sell off your best players and
then hope these farm guys come up and do well.

(33:12):
But when it's actually like, let's trade some farm guys
and make this current Reds team better, Like even just
talking about it gets people fired up because it never happened.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
And one one more Rangers tied of the Reds. Jose Travino,
the catcher who he's been. He's a great defensive catcher,
good kid. It's not a kid out loud, but that's
a bit. That was a big addition too. That that
was a sneaky, big addition.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
Yeah, and he's he's pitched twice in the last two weeks.
I don't know if he saw that. He got his
first strikeout throwing The boy.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
Had a boy.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
I had a beer with Joe. I had a beer
with Jose one night and his wife was there and
they had the new baby. But the baby wasn't there
that I when it was when Jared Sandler had his
little thing. Uh do you remember that? And Jose was there.
They were raising money for one of the media guys
there had a flood and uh, and Jose sat with
me and his wife. We were drinking a beer. He

(34:13):
was a young Ranger then and he was up with
the big league team. He's just a nice guy. I
don't know if you've got a chance to talk to him.
How you get to meet a few of the players
but he's a nice guy.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
I haven't met him, but people love him, very humble.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
It was first major league hit I think came on
Father's Day. It was a walk off hit and his
father has passed and it's just emotional, just genuine, dude.
So the pictures, the pictures are doing great, and I'm
gonna bet that Jose Travino has a hell of a
lot to do with it.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
I agree, man, I would. I would love to have
an episode with you guys where we just talk about
those kind of baseball moments, sure, like just like the
only happening baseball, Like the you know, the game after
Jose Fernandez passed away, like all the stuff that happened
in that game, and then Michael Lorenzen when he was here,

(35:04):
his his father had passed away. And the next game
he came in to relieve and uh got it at bat,
which relief pitchers never at bat, but it was a
long relief and he hit a home run and a
home run and it was like this stuff only happens

(35:25):
in baseball, And I want like a whole thing dedicated
to like crazy numbers, you know. Cecil Fielder and Prince
Fielder ended with the same amount of home run that's nice.
The Tony Gwynn and Greg Maddox. I don't know. I'm
obsessed with all that, like baseball god stuff.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Well, we're gonna have to work on it.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Yeah, we'll have to do it, hey, But you know
one thing else we really got to get it, Jeff,
did you have some more baseball stuff?

Speaker 3 (35:55):
No? No, no, let's start talking now. Let's start talking
comedy special.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
Gosh, guys, if you haven't tell them how they can
get this, man, I'm telling you right now. If you
guys are fans of funny clean comedy, we've been taughting
Josh now for a few years. I've been a big
fan of his and I met him when we were
in Arizona and he's come on here a few times.
But this new special, it's all new stuff. When are
you coming to Dallas, geez? I mean, come on, you

(36:22):
need to come. We'll put together a crew for you.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
I'm working on it, I really am. That's what I'm
doing right now is working on the fall and Winter
tour to promote as this special comes out. But uh,
there's a there's a website called Disruptorcomedy dot com and
they're the ones who are releasing the special for me,
so for about the next week, Disruptorcomedy dot com is

(36:47):
the place you can go to watch it. And thank
you for watching it. You're you're very kind and I
do appreciate it. I've been very excited about this special.
I recorded it here at a theater and since last November,
and it's just a beautiful venue and it's an it's
fifty minutes worth of comedy. I've been working on for

(37:10):
several years now, so I was really happy with the
way that it turned out. But Disruptorcomedy dot com is
where you can see it for for like the next week.
Then it'll get to Apple, Apple iTunes in Amazon, and
then in about a month it'll it'll go to YouTube
and some other streaming platforms where you can watch it

(37:31):
with ads. But don't don't wait for that. Just spend
six ninety five. You own it. You can watch it
whenever you want. And uh, and I hope you'll find
it worse.

Speaker 5 (37:42):
Oh dude. And it's called Fat Ryan, which that story
in itself, it's hysterical, but it's great, guys. I'm telling
you right now, you gotta go do it. And it's
funny you say that because you get compared to one
guy and it's funny and I wanted to go to that, Jeff,
have you ever been compared to any celebrity as somebody

(38:03):
else said, you know, you look like this celebrity or
that celebrity.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
This one is it's unbelievable and I don't see it
at all. And it's happened seven, I mean many many times.
And it's total, it's total bs, Adam Sandler. I mean it,
it happened. I'm telling you right now. It happens like
six months ago. At a drive through window, I pulled,

(38:29):
I pulled up to pay, and the lady was like,
oh my god, Adam's Sandler. I was like, no chance,
ladies stop.

Speaker 5 (38:37):
You were looking in your rearview mirror going what no.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
I mean?

Speaker 3 (38:40):
But I mean, I've heard it for fifteen twenty years.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Like in fairness, you always do say can I have
some extra napkins?

Speaker 5 (38:50):
You'll give me something to catch up in my bag?
Beat Mine is the worst because look, when I was
a kid, everybody said I look like the kid on
on Golden Pond. I don't know what his name is,
but that's what I was told.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
The only other one.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
Yeah, the only other one as an adult was not
near as sexy as the both of y'all. I got
told a couple of times we were on a trip
from my old job that I look like Donnie most Jesus.
Ralph Mouth played.

Speaker 6 (39:24):
Ralph Mouth on Happy Days and there was a photo
of him and the way I used to wear my hair,
and I was like, gun it, I see it.

Speaker 5 (39:35):
Yeah, he kind of had big hair and I had
kind of had big hair. I was like, oh my god,
with the nose and everything. I guess I kind of
see it. And I was like, why couldn't it be
fat Ryan? You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah, but see like like Jeff, it's like you're as
you look like a skinny Adam Sandler. Like if if
it was like I'm the bigger version of someone, you know,
and there is a saving grace that it is, you know,
the sexiest man on earth, right, you know, but still,

(40:06):
you know, like that would have been worse, right if
it was like he's like a fat Steve Buscemi or
something like that. That's what you don't want to hear
is that you let yourself go. But even if you
clean it up, you're there's still no hope for you. Yeah,
but it is crazy. If you go to any YouTube
video of me, any single one, and go through the

(40:27):
comments or Facebook or anywhere there's clips of my stand
up that have a comment section, you will see that
comment over and over and over again, Fat Ryan Gosling.
So that's why it's called fat Ryan. Initially it was
going to be called I wanted to call it fat
Ryan Gosling separated at girth, but but we couldn't. Yeah,

(40:49):
we couldn't get away with it, so we settled on
fat Ryan.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Now it was and the way you described it, like
if you went on a twenty year cheat day but
got stung by be.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
A handful of peanuts and reactor.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
That's perfect. Yeah, it was. And I I gotta admit
I was. I listened to it. I didn't. I didn't
watch it. It was playing through my bluetooth in the car,
and there was one guy in the audience who had
a very gregarious laugh and it was like, h and

(41:27):
this is this is totally specific and random, but it
was like, uh, the Sean Connery impersonator on s n L,
Darryl Hammond when he when he when he does the
Sean Connery laugh after he says like the tits now
or the rapists, that's what that guy sounded like, Yeah,

(41:47):
that's what that guy sounded like. It was. It was
just an over the top laugh. That's something you don't
catch if you're watching it. But like for the audio,
I was like, man, this guy's having a great time.

Speaker 5 (41:59):
Now that I'll go back and watch it again and
just listen for that.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
You also have to listen for that. We had to.
We had to. We had to take out the audio
from a drunk lady who was in the front row
screaming stuff like they go before they go, this is
a recording of a special that is going to be
played on networks, like please don't yell out? You know,

(42:24):
this lady in the front row was hammered and like, uh,
like when I'm talking about fat Ryan Gosling and I say,
you know, I don't know how I'm supposed to feel
when people say that you just hear go it's a
compliment take And I'm like, can we please fix this somehow?

(42:46):
And luckily I don't think you can hear in the
parts where she belts out, but the whole time I'm
on stage, I'm just like going, if this one woman
ruins this thing for me because we did it in
one show.

Speaker 5 (43:01):
Show all right, Well it was it was great. I
mean I had heard none of that stuff before, and
I listened to all your stuff and it was all new. Well,
I think I had kind of heard the baseball coaching.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Thing when you're in Arizona.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
Yeah, and I think I had heard that. But other
than that, man, it was it was. It was hysterical. Guys,
you'll love this. I mean I say this, if you're
a fan of Nate Bargatzi, you will love Josh Need.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
That's very kind.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
That's a comparison I do where you can have the
kids and families sit down and listen to it. And
my wife, who's gonna get to listen to it because
we're gonna have conversations about her wanting to be on
the phone and talk all the time. And I'm like,
that is literally us right there, and you know, and
the way it is, and so she'll she'll dislike you

(43:53):
for one second of that while I'm over there looking
at her like, yeah, see, that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
Yeah, I feel like there's a couple like the TJ
Max audience I think is gonna come for me after
they see this. It's uh, it's there's some there's some
really fun stuff. And that's why I think I'm most
excited about with this special is that none of the
jokes have been in any other special or on any
other album I've done. You know, I've had to do

(44:19):
some tailor swifting of old material on my previous specials
to like re release it because of dumb legal stuff.
But this one is unless you've seen me live in
the last year or so, like you, you will not
have found this anywhere online.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
Well, the thing I liked about it it's all relatable
to like cause we're you know, we're middle aged dads
and dad, I can't fix anything around the house, so
I have you know, I've got to call everybody. I
hate going to home depot and asking for help. I'll
walk around for twenty minutes, you know, and and just

(44:56):
try to avoid you needy help. No, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
Yeah, it's a generational thing. That's what I've learned, is that.
And I tell this is material I'm working on now
because I'm trying to you know, get ahead of uh
when this gets out that when I do clubs, people
that saw it don't come and see the same show.
But like my wife has this thing where she wants

(45:21):
to talk about everything and discover why we feel a
certain way or what makes me do decisions the way
that I do. But with men like in material like
that home Depot, we don't have to talk about it.
I just want to be able to say it and
you go yep, and I go yep, and we're good
just knowing that both of us are experiencing it and

(45:44):
moving on.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
For sure.

Speaker 5 (45:46):
No, the comparison to that, and I've heard it on
another comedian, Bill Ingball talked about have you ever seen
I think it?

Speaker 2 (45:53):
No?

Speaker 5 (45:53):
No, no, it's uh I forget his name, talking about
when he went and played golf with the guy that
Reagan and he played golf. Have you seen that bit, Josh?
He went and played golf and his wife because the
guy who played golf with had been divorced like eight
months ago. And he goes, how's he doing? He goes,
He's fine. He goes, is he dating anyone? I don't know?

(46:15):
You know the whole time, I don't know, you don't
know you were How long were you all together? Four?

Speaker 3 (46:20):
Hours.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
Yeah, you don't know if he's dating anybody, he's doing it.
He's got a new driver. I mean, and this is
that's so relatable and you're special. The whole time I'm
sitting there dying laughing and I'm going, yeah, the exact
same Dad young conversation right there.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
So how does how do you come up with a bit?
I mean, you know, because because yours are they're not
just like punchline. You know, it's and then like, how
do you know when to stop it?

Speaker 2 (46:56):
I guess so for me, like I'm I'm I'm jealous
in a way of people that are more prolific than
I am that crank out like Innate Bargatzi or those
Jim Gaffigan or Regan like they just the way that
they generate new material is mind boggling to me. But

(47:18):
they're very disciplined in that they go sit down and
they write stuff out and they figure it out. I've
learned that for me, something just has to come to me,
like something either happens or I say something and I go,
I know how I would use that in my act,
And I just write down enough words to be able

(47:39):
to remember what I want to talk about. On stage,
and I've learned that for me, when I do that,
it forces me to talk the way that I would
talk off stage, versus if I write out every word
exactly how I want to say it, it sounds scripted,
you know, it sounds like a monologue. And what I
hear from people after the shows is it's like you

(48:01):
were just up there talking. It's like we were just
at some place hanging out and you were just telling stories.
And that's what I want. I wanted to feel like
it's an organic, one sided conversation. You know, that's happening
kind of in the moment. So for me, it's just
if something happens that I think might work well in

(48:22):
the act. I type an email to myself on my
phone and I just put a specific subject line in
there and I send it. And that way, when I
go to figure out what new material I want to
work on, I can sort my inbox by that subject
line and just see my notes. You know, I don't
carry around a notebook. I mean back in the day,

(48:43):
I used to. I used to have one of those
probably little tape recorders you guys maybe still have with
the little spy cassettes in there. You know. I used
to keep one of those in my console, and i'd
if I was on a road trip, I'd pull it
out if I thought of something funny. I used to
call my house and leave a message on my answering machine.

(49:04):
Answering machine, not even voicemail, like a legit answering machine.
Back in the day.

Speaker 5 (49:12):
Boy, you could lose a whole whole show if you
got home and the answer machine was messed up or
the tape was wrong.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
I know, it's technology that save Mitch Hedberg used to
do a joke where he said if I if I'm
laying in bed and I think it's and I think
of a joke, I have to convince myself it's not
funny enough to get up and go write it down.
You'd have to talk himself out of it.

Speaker 3 (49:37):
That's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, So you're you're planning some
tour dates.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
Yeah, those should be announced here in the next the
next couple weeks or so. I hope to have that
tour finalized. I've already got Vegas, Atlanta, and Cleveland on
there before the end of the year, and I'm gonna
had a bunch more. I'm looking at a bunch of
dates in uh, Louisiana and and Dallas is one of

(50:06):
the places I hope to get booked as well. So
if that happens, I would love to hook up with
you guys.

Speaker 5 (50:12):
Sure we'll be there. You know. I know you went
to Hyenas. Is that where you came to Dallas before?

Speaker 2 (50:18):
Yeah? Yeah I did. Uh. I always mess it up Plano, Plano, Plant, Yeah,
Plant did Plano and then the Downtown room and then
uh and their Fort Worth room as well.

Speaker 5 (50:28):
Well, I'm you know, I'm I. I messaged him one
time and said, hey, cause they were saying, who do
you guys want to see? I said, you guys need
to get Josh need and the guy goes, you know,
we need to get him back, and they were saying that,
and then I'm like, okay, well I'm just nobody, so
I'm not following up. I need to follow up and
remind you guys. Did you guys reach out to him?
What happens?

Speaker 2 (50:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (50:49):
So get on it.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
John, Jesus, what am I paying you for? Dude?

Speaker 5 (50:56):
I gotta get that spip going. Hey, Josh, listen, I mean, look,
we've been on here a while, we catch it a
long time. This thing will come out later. Tell everybody
again where they can find this. It's just so funny.
And man, the baseball talk's just as good today because
I think the Reds and the Rangers were literally the
same fan base. Right now, right now we are if well, I.

Speaker 3 (51:16):
Don't know, I think I think. I think the Reds
are on a high and the Rangers are fans. What's
wrong with these son of the bitches?

Speaker 2 (51:22):
So you know, well that's you.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
We're places.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
That's the difference in our franchises, right you guys could
be two games over five hundred and wan of fire everyone,
we're two games over five hundred. We're like sign all
these people the longer country. This feels amazing to watch
a special. Go to Disruptorcomedy dot com. You'll see it
right on the homepage. Six ninety five. You know, it's funny.

(51:50):
Back in the day, we used to say twenty five
cents is the price of a cup of coffee, but
coffee is more expensive, so six ninety five the price
of a cup of coffee. You can own the special,
watch it whenever you want. In the next couple of weeks,
it'll roll out on Amazon and iTunes, and then eventually

(52:10):
YouTube and all those places. But go watch it now,
check it out and follow me on the socials. Josh
sneed and you know, pick up some rangers Gearrett in
the Clutch dot Com range.

Speaker 5 (52:23):
Lady, Yes, we've got that too. And and honestly, guys,
as soon as if he does book something here in
the Metroplex, for sure we'll get all that out. We'll
try to get a group together and get some tickets
and have some fun there. And I promise you if
we do, I guarantee you'll get to meet Josh. We
will make that happen. We'll all get to meet him

(52:44):
and talk to you.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Yeah, dude, I love you, guys. I will talk to
you whenever you'll have me about anything like you guys
are so awesome. I appreciate you having me so well.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Thank you. It was a very fortuitous trip that John
took that night to the comedy club in Phoenix. And uh,
that's that's really all he's ever done for me, to
be honest, I really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (53:08):
All right, guys, good luck the rest of the way.

Speaker 5 (53:10):
We'll see you all right, guys, We're going down on
the Bustleaues right after this. Thanks Josh a lot of
big thanks to Josh Need. That's fun. That was funny.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Yeah, yeah, uh uh. You know, seriously, go check out
the special. It's it's very good. Spend the seven bucks, yeah,
it's it's so worth it because he is really a funny,
funny man.

Speaker 5 (53:37):
Yeah, and you know what, it sounds like he's going
to try to get to Dallas, which we need to do.
If you watch that special, you'll all want to go
see it.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
And so.

Speaker 5 (53:46):
Yeah, and it's just I think it's because he can
control with his T shirt stuff, he can kind of
control you know, how much he travels and doing that
as a comedian, and so because he does a lot
of he's a family guy and does a lot of
stuff there which he doesn't know as much. But now
I think he's starting to realize he likes us a lot,
so he wants to get to Dallas. But listen, we
gotta go down to the bus leagues talking about the

(54:07):
minor league stuff. And we're gonna knock this out real quick, guys.
The draft is coming up. I mean, I guess real quick.
We we you and I have talked privately and kind
of talk publicly here. We don't know where the Rangers
are going in this thing. They every mock draft tends
to lean towards some sort of middle infield, high school kid.

Speaker 3 (54:26):
Or the or the Oklahoma pitcher was yes, yeah, he
keeps getting called up or brought Rangers, like Irish the
Auburn catcher. If he's not gone by then I think
the Rangers could could look at him. I know they
took a catcher last year, but and then yeah, and

(54:47):
then in the in the major league draft, you don't
draft for need because these guys aren't coming to the
the major leagues anytime soon. But kind of look at
the Rangers catching situation in the minor leagues and it's
a lot of all right, it is thin, so I
could see a situation like that, But they also haven't
taken a high school kid since cool win in twenty eighteen.

(55:11):
But the draft is more, it's more, it's heavier on
the high school talent this year than college talent. A
lot of high school shortstops. That's why I think the
Rangers getting linked. And at that point in the draft,
at twelve, you know, the guys who are expected to
be off the board almost certainly will be off the board,

(55:32):
And so then it becomes kind of a you know,
after that point it becomes a craft shoot yep.

Speaker 5 (55:39):
And the reason they like you see middle endfielders a lot,
and shortstops especially anybody that plays up. Every scout will
tell you anybody that plays up the middle is athletic
and can play a lot of different places. And whether
that shortstop becomes a second basement at the big league level,
or maybe they end up in the outfield a center
fielder on a corner, depending on because a lot of
shortstops these day are so big and they outgrow the

(56:02):
Look at look at Walcott, freaking Walcott six five over there.
But he still plays a good shortstop. But you know,
will he stick there? I don't know if he's going
to be in the big leagues the next couple of year.
He's not going to be a short stop more than likely.
I mean, there is a situation where maybe you move
Seeger one way or the other. But let's go down
to Triple A first. That's the Round Rock Express. We're

(56:23):
in the second half of the season, guys, I gotta
tell you it's kind of bleak at the top of
the organization, looking really good at the bottom. Triple A
Round Rock they're in third place. Right now, they're six
and seven. In the second half, they're four and six
and they're lost their last ten. They lost last night.
They've got a third basement there that a lot of
people know. Yeah, setting he just got in there. He's

(56:44):
been there, what two games.

Speaker 3 (56:46):
Three games? Yeah, you know, he got sent out last
week and uh, you know you have seventy two hours report.
All right, Well then then they had the terrible raids
in Central Texas and rating out two games a round.
Rock is the least of the issues down there. But
for Josh Josh Young, he hadn't He didn't play until

(57:08):
Tuesday because Monday's also an off day, so basically he
went a week without playing. He's had hits in each
game that he's that he's been in. I think he's around,
you know, four for fourteen or four for fifteen. And
I haven't seen the bats. I haven't seen the contact
quality or exit velosities or anything like that. But you know,

(57:30):
the thing that Jake Berger did when Jake went down
was he mashed it runs, you know, batted close to
four hundred and just killed the ball, and the ranch
are like, all right, he gets it. Josh might have
more work to do. But the other guys down there,

(57:50):
you know, our our great friends blame Krim, Cody Freeman
and Justin Foscue and Dustin Harris. Dustin Harris has really
come on. He was he was really kind of struggling
for a while. But he's he's picked up his average,
He's had some walkoff homers, still steals tons of bases.
He's doing a lot better. So that's that's a real

(58:12):
good sign right there.

Speaker 5 (58:14):
And it's a shame that Cole wins there right right.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
You know, Cole just was a victim of the fatigue
and the numbers game and having options. I suspected that
Cole Wynn, who still has allowed a run in an
earned run at least in triple A, is uh fine.

Speaker 2 (58:40):
You know.

Speaker 3 (58:41):
Robbie alstro the one of the darlings of spring training,
probably walking too many guys, but he's a bulldog. He's
a left hander if they need one. Not on the
forty man, though Cody Howard was the Rangers reliever of
a month for June. He is on the forty man.
So there. Now. Luis Carrello is kind of taking a
step back. It's his rumored promotion that never developed so

(59:04):
they don't have a lot there. Mark Church is hurt,
although he is throwing. He's in Arizona and he's throwing
a million of Toyota is injured, he's throwing, So they
don't look like options right away. Then another name to
keep it keep in mind if you're looking for bullpen help.
Patrick Murphy, the guy who honestly was going to make

(59:25):
the team out of scream training. Mike Maddix loves him.
Uh oh, Klea. Bosley's down there. He can come back, sure,
but Murphy, but I'm want to keep an eye on him.

Speaker 5 (59:38):
Yeah, And so let's go down to Double A, the
Frisco Roughriders, who unfortunately the most probably the most talented
team in the organization right now. Double A. They're in
fourth place right now, second half, they're five and ten,
they're three and seven in their last ten games, and
they've lost a couple in a row. Walcott hit a
home run last night. Yeah, but they're scuttling a bit.

(01:00:02):
And uh, you know, Zavala got moved up and now
he's back down.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Uh yeah, that.

Speaker 5 (01:00:08):
Was just a you know, kind of a promotion up that.

Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
He did somebody. Yeah, uh you know, And and the
bats have really cooled off, you know, and when you
when you were out to Frisco last time and saw Carlos,
he was talking about how they need to get the
bats going, and so nobody's down there just ranking. You know,
I think that Walcott continues to hold his own. The

(01:00:34):
numbers aren't fabulous, you know, especially if you're a batting
average guy at two thirty eight. But again, he's not
striking out a ton, right and and and they have
they have guys wh will run into one. Abby Ortiz,
He's going to run into some balls, and he is
kind of he is more of a prospect than Luis
and the s s who leads the tied with the

(01:00:55):
team lead with eleven homers with Abby. Some bastions at
nine can't call you know, you're talking. We're talking about
the draft and guys you know, who are short stops
and play up the middle, who are great athletes. Cam's
getting some outfield time and uh, you know, just another
way to make him more attractive and more valuable for
the major league team. Uh fast as the Dickens. He

(01:01:18):
probably strikes have too much, but he also has a
little more power in his back and that's starting to
show up.

Speaker 5 (01:01:24):
Yeah, this is the guy. This this is a Josh
Smith starter kit. In my opinion, He's right handed, and
he's a guy easily that could take the place of
someone like Ezekiel Durant. That's that end of the bench
guy that kind of plays different positions. Corley plays a
lot of positions. Got a little pop in that bat
when he can hit it, but more than than Zeke,

(01:01:45):
way more than Zeke. The guy's fast and boy he
can run. And I've seen it in person. I saw.
I've seen Frisco twice. Now went out there, like I said,
the one day and talk to Carlos and then I
went out, Uh, got to got a chance to sneak.
Ain't gonna watch Jake Berger his one rehab there. Yeah,
And I started to ask him about it afterwards, because

(01:02:08):
it was right after that that the there was something
that happened in the game that we thought maybe we
would see ber you know they Burger told me, hey,
I'm supposed to play nine tomorrow night, but someone got
hit in the game, the Big League game or whatever,
and it's like, well, maybe maybe you might be coming back.
They might need you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
Before that well, that was also the next day is
when they sent down Young, So I think that they
were just looking for anything worthwhile from from Jake in
that rehab game to tell him that he's probably better
off right now then Josh. And then you know, they
couldn't wait much longer to get Josh sent down.

Speaker 5 (01:02:46):
So yeah, and Jake, Jake hit won the first at
bat that off the bat, I thought he's gonna it's
a home run, and the guy caught it at the
wall in deep left center. He just got a little
bit under it, but boy, he hit it good. And
then he flared and went out there for a hit
and he hit a couple hard that went right at people.
But yeah, he looked good at the plate and looked comfortable.

(01:03:07):
And you know what, again true to his form when
he was there, he just flat out signed autographs, talked
to everybody. Oh yeah, just always done it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
Yeah, we didn't we need to mention Mitch. Mitch Bratt
had a good rebound start the other night. Cool Drake.
We forgot about him in triple A. He followed John
Gray on rehab the other night and gave up one
run in five innings. So his his best outing, I
guess if you will, I think he's only had a
couple of triple A and then David davil Leo two

(01:03:40):
starts now at Frisco. He was given some time off
after he was promoted, a little little fatigue factor in there,
but he had a he had a good double A
start the other night.

Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
All right, let's go to hire the Hub City Spartan Burgers.
Now they have taken they're they're in first place right now.
They're eleven and seven in the second half. They're eight
and two in their last ten. They've won their last
couple of games. You know, the the babies or the kids,
they're they're they're starting off the second half.

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Yeah, you know, and and and unfortunately, well that it
just they just hadn't been a ton of a ton
of offense with this team. Uh. And and they they
definitely have the guys to do it. Uh, it just hasn't.

(01:04:34):
It just hasn't clicked for a lot of these guys, uh,
which is unfortunate. But you know, Casey Cook is having
a good month so far. He's batten three hundred. I
know it hasn't been a ton of games, but our
tour are Arturo Disla, who just seems like a heck
of a guy, a little bit big bodied fella. Anthony

(01:04:56):
Goodier is still not showing a ton of power, but
a little more patients have to plate for him. And
you know Malcolm Moore who's still trying to get back readjusted.
But you know this is this team has some talent
on it. It has the first three draft picks from
last season. And then on the pitching side, Jose Gonzalez,

(01:05:18):
Leandro Lopez, Josh Trent Adu who's looking more and more
like a dude. And you know, so some arms that
if you've been following the system, you're you're familiar with
them and know them well. Mason Molina has pitched well
since he got promoted from Hickory.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Yeah, let's go down to Low A. Hickory the hottest
team of them all. Yeah, they are thirteen and four,
they're in first place. They're thirteen and four again just
like just like Hya, they're eight and two in their
last ten and they've won their last couple of games.
And this in the last few years, every time we've
updated Hickory, whether they were High A or Low A,

(01:05:59):
they seem to be the one that was always chasing
everybody else. But they have they have started out the
second half.

Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Well, that's good. And you know, that's what you get
with these these young guys or these indexperienced guys who
are you know, in their first you know season with
the first season with a full season a philliate. It's
a big deal, you know, the bus ridings and all
that stuff, some things that they have to adjust to.
One guy who I don't know a ton about, honestly,

(01:06:27):
I did a little investigative work on Hector Osorio, who
this month is hitting four oh nine with a five
hundred on base percentage. Doesn't hit for a ton of power,
never really has, but his June was like the best
month of his career. He's not an old guy by
any stretch, you know, a young international kid. I think

(01:06:49):
he's nineteen or twenty. He's yeah, and you never know,
and these guys are going to break out. And he
looks like he's breaking out because his first two months
we're not very good. You go look at him, was like,
oh my gosh. And then it hopefully June's on an outlier,
and and his start to July it's kind of showing
that it's not. So, you know, Max and Martin's a

(01:07:10):
little sluggish this month, but still they're they're probably the
best player Hickory has as far as hitting, Devin Fitzgerald,
Jeremy Caa Breras and prospect guys that are more prospecting
than Osorio for sure. So those are the hitting guys.
And then you know the pitching side, Caden Scarborough all right, Uh,

(01:07:31):
you know Ishmael uh a great uh. And another guy
who had a pretty nice and June, and I need
to I don't want to mispronounce his name, so I
have to I have to find it and make sure
I'm reading it correctly. Enrique Segura had a very very
nice June. And then the guy to watch I think

(01:07:55):
I mentioned this previously hasn't been great so far as
David Hagan, who was the fifth rounder last year. He's
got he's got some pretty big stuff, but just you know,
had had the Tommy John before the draft, and so
he's kind of going to be up and down, I think,
but he's worth a full season affiliate.

Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
Well, and you go down to the Ozona Complex League
where they're they're twenty seven and twenty two. They're in
second place in their division. Down there, they are five
and five in their last ten, they've won three in
a row, so that you know, they're almost fifty games
down there.

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:08:33):
For those kids that are just being drafted or first
year pros.

Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
Yeah, their season's about to be done. You know, they
start earlier now than the Dominican Summer League. So I
think that really irritates. I think that irritates scouts and
club officials in player development because they want to have
the opportunity to move some of these Dominican kids up
if they're deserving. Bringla morell Is back. That's a good
thing for the Rangers after uh, you know, late injury

(01:09:02):
late last year laid him, uh through spring training. He's back.
And another interesting name is Duer Tovar. He's from the
from Venezuela outfielder and he's kind of he's kind of
blossomed here. He hasn't played as many games or doesn't
have as many bats as like a Paulino Santana or

(01:09:24):
a climber Lamos, but what he's done in seventy two bats,
he's got about one point zero zero five one thousand
point five ops. He's kind of his powers kind of
replaced Fitzgerald. Tovar has four home runs within those seventy
two bats, so pretty good stuff from him and doesn't

(01:09:46):
strike out a ton. So that's that's a good sign
for young left handed hitmer. I believe if I'm not.

Speaker 5 (01:09:52):
Mistaken, going down to the Dominican So we've got two
teams down there. I'm having to pull this up last minute.
I forgot to get the Dominican kids.

Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
The Red team.

Speaker 5 (01:10:01):
The Red teams in third place in their division. They're
eighteen and ten. This is the team that we know
got the better prospects. They're six and four in their
last ten. They won one last night. Let's go ahead,
just get the Blue team. They're in the last place
in their division. They're seven and two, four and six
in their last ten, and they've lost one. But hey,

(01:10:22):
you know what, there's a lot of kids there. Yeah,
doesn't matter what team you're on. If you need to
go to the Blue team to play a lot, that's
how you can earn your way into a how standing
within this organization.

Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Yeah, yea. And they have a couple of guys who
have probably earned the right to go to Arizona, you know.
And Marco r. Goudin, he's Cuban, defected and was signed
in February for pretty affordable I think about forty thousand.
He's batting four of six a Lorki Rodriguez, who was

(01:10:55):
the big signee of the International Class in January. He's young,
you know, he's seventeen, and he is he's hitting the ball,
and he's hitting for power, he's getting on base. A
pretty pretty good looking player there, and and you know,
would it be too soon to move them up? I
don't think so, you know, because because the old Frand
Castillo got moved up from the Dominican League to the

(01:11:17):
end of the Arizona Complex League last year and Castillo
is there now no power with Castillo in Arizona. But
they're not worried about that. He's actually had a little
bit better past couple of weeks. But you know, there
are a couple couple of hitters on that that red
team the Dominican that that could end up in Arizona

(01:11:38):
before too long. And I think if if, you know,
if in a perfect world, they would, you know, And
it just depends on the timing with the end of
the Arizona season.

Speaker 5 (01:11:52):
Sure. All right, Well, guys, that's been it's been a
long one. It's been a rap it's been a fun
one and a funny one for sure. You're down in Houston.
We're going to try to get Kip fag hopefully before
before I head out of town next week, and try
to get him on. We won't do anything after that,
but anything else.

Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
I don't think so fun show as a long one.
I hope you guys made it to the end.

Speaker 5 (01:12:16):
Yeah, guys, it's fun. We appreciate it. For Josh Need
and Jeff Wilson. I'm John Moore until next week possibly, guys,
we'll see if the yar.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mit Mobile.

Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
I was looking for fun ways to tell you that
Mint's offer of unlimited premium wireless for fifteen dollars a
month it's back. So I thought it would be fun
if we made fifteen dollars bills. But it turns out.

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
That's very illegal.

Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
So there goes my big idea for the commercial. Give
it a try at mintmobile dot com.
