After a late night of hockey, are you ready for
a late night of baseball? About three late nights of baseball?
That's what's coming. It's the Rangers in California. We break
down the series and the trip. Next, it's the DLLs
Rangers Podcast. Yeah, the Rangers would be dreaming about some
road win wherever they were headed. But since it's California
(01:04):
doing some California dreaming. As we welcome you into the
DLLs Sports Studios. It's the DLLs Rangers Podcast. Meet John
Radigan Jeff Wilson over there, both in our Rangers colors,
although in different shirts. Thank goodness. Always a roll of
the dice. The Profits over there. We pushed him hard today,
but he came through as usual and near as I
(01:27):
can tell so far, you can all hear us. So
that's fantastic. And we got that bug corrected with some
quick work by the Profit yesterday. So like, subscribe, chat,
hang out, have your lunch with us. We appreciate having you.
Rangers are headed to Sacramento. As I said in the
description of the show, Jeff, major league baseball in a
(01:49):
minor league stadium. Here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, you know, I guess that's the most intriguing thing
about the series, if you you know, after years and
years and years and years at the coliseum, you know,
and and well, I mean fifty fifty three years at
the Rangers going to the coliseum. Now they're they're going
to Sacramento, the capital of California. And I don't know,
(02:12):
that's about all I know about Sacramento.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Yeah, I've been there once for some track and field
US Olympic Track and Field trials back in two thousand,
but it's the only time I've been there. Michael Johnson
really rocked that week, but he did. Yeah, he was
really good by that week, wearing gold shoes and all
that stuff. But anyway, so this is this is you know,
(02:36):
uncharted territory for most of them. None of the players
are very excited about it. Hopefully it'll be a pleasant surprise,
right that they've done enough in renovations and things like
that into the creature comforts to make it a place
that's decent for the Rangers to go. But you know,
it seems Jeff, that it is the road team that
(02:59):
likes this stadium better than the home team.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Do you know who has the worst record at home
in baseball?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
I'm going to go with the Oakland.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
The Oakland A's or the as I said, they need
a first name as. Yeah, they're two and seven there,
so it's not even a small sample, So I mean
it is, Yeah, but for the season, for what we've played,
you know, it's not like they're one in three. I
mean they're two and seven. Well, the first game was
an utter disaster.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Right did in the cub score like a thousand routs
and so, you know, it's kind of weird. I tried
to talk to a couple of players who have played
there in the minor leagues, and you know, Jacob Latz
said that the time he pitched there, which would have
been twenty three, he said they played early in the
(03:46):
season and it was Chile, and the games weren't particularly
high scoring. But in the summertime it's hot and miserable.
He's not looking forward to the August return. But you know,
it's yeah, I see that sports zone. It says more
of a pitcher friendly ballpark. But I think I think
(04:08):
it depends on the time of the year, honestly, And
it's not Reno like you know, in the Pacific Coast
League or El Paso, but it's I just think that
it's gonna there's gonna be some run scored. Then again,
we're talking about the Rangers here and they only score
three rounds a game.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yeah, that's that's a problem. Hopefully a problem that will
be addressed this this road trip. Jeff and I will
propose some different lineups, some ideas to jump start this offense.
Coming up a little bit later on in the program,
we're also going to talk lots of outfield coming up,
because we're gonna borrow some of the some of the
(04:48):
work they did on the Weekly Show and hear from
Dustin Harris later and also talk a lot about the
outfield situation with the Rangers right now. But for now,
it's the road trip, which of course does start in
Sacramento and surprise, surprise, that offense, Jeff. Notwithstanding, when you look,
when you start to look at the pitching matchups on
this thing, the Rangers have a decided advantage. Sure, yeah,
(05:11):
I mean again, you can probably we're probably gonna be
able to say that most series this year. But but
you know, literally they're at the bottom of the rotation
and they have an advantage every night.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, you know, the the A starter tonight, Beto. I'm
not familiar with him. I really did not know him
at Allaldo. I know it's Oswaldo. He he doesn't strike
a lot of guys out, So there's a that's that's
good news for the Rangers, you know, Corbyn, Gosh, you know,
(05:46):
you can't really say much more than pretty good stuffs.
I do think the A's lineup could be I'm thinking
thinking off the top of my head, and they've got
a lead three really good right handed hitters, So yeah,
that might give give Patrick a little bit of a challenge.
But anyway, if you feel good about that one, you
(06:11):
feel good about the next night and the next night.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
So yeah, so the next night it's Kamara Rocker uh
and you feel you feel like the ra just based
on what he did last time. That said, Jp sears
Uh has has been a He's been a difficult matchup
for the Rangers in.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
The past, so has been oddly like his best career start.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
He's struck in like eleven yeares. I think one time.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
It's one of those things where he pitches well against.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
You, but he pitched well against them in the May
series last year that I recall. But uh, you know,
he will he will still be out there. He eats,
eats the ins. He doesn't throw hard, you know, but
he changes speeds. And I just think that though, that
the Rangers, they just need somebody who's.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Not thrown ninety nine at him, you know.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
And and coming in with these disgusting splitters and everything.
So I think that there's an opportunity still. I mean,
you know, we the biggest part of the matchup tomorrow
is can Kamar Rocker repeat right what what he what
he did, or maybe not be as good but still
(07:22):
be better than he is When he isn't good, you know,
he needs to he needs to flatline this thing a
little bit. And I mean, I guess he could get better,
but you know it needs to not be so rocky.
You need to see Rocker have a good start, see
if he can carry over his mechanics from one start
to the next. I mean, it was only a week
ago we were thinking, you know, he might end up
(07:44):
going to the minor leagues if he doesn't have a
good start here.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Uh. And it was that Thursday, I guess.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
And you know because with Lighter coming back and and
and Corbyn pitching, well, it's like, all right, you know,
couldn't could potentially Rocker go to the minor leagues. But
he had this great start where he dominated, he's around
the plate, the two runs have scored against him well
in the fifth inning, not Josh Young's finest moments at
(08:10):
third base. So you hope that he has found what
was missing throughout spring training in those first four starts.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
So we'll see about that because when if he's able
to land that slider put it where he wants to,
it's gonna be a long night for his hitters.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, and then of course, you know for the finale
of the series on Thursday, the Rangers have to send
their fifth starter out there. So you know that's never
dicee because the fifth starter is Jacob de Gram and
that's good. And I don't know much about j T. Jeff.
Are you up to speed with them?
Speaker 4 (08:45):
You know, I believe he went to Mississippi State. He
so he's a college pitcher. The Rangers faced him in
spring training and he was okay, okay, he did well
in his season debut this year. But you know, another
young guy that this A's team has to rely on.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
You know, you look.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
At Ozivaldo and the Sears and and now again, and
you look around at their lineup at Butler and you
look at Wilson the short stop, and Solderstrom and Langeleers
the catcher. You know, a lot of a lot of
homegrown talent. And that's how the As have had to
(09:30):
operate for a number of years. So you wonder if
perhaps uh with with them signing trying to extend these
guys like they did with Butler, like they did the
Brent Rooker, but they didn't draft. They got him on
a waiver claim. But you know, they're starting to extend
these guys with perhaps the riches of Las Vegas ahead
of them, they plan to expand their budget. But in
(09:52):
the meantime, they keep they keep coming up with these guys,
and you know they're pretty good. I mean, Jack Wilson
as a jack the shortstop, drafting sixth overall. All right,
I know Solderson was a first rounder. Langa Lears was
a first rounder. He was in the Josh Young, Bobby
Witt Adlie Rushman draft in nineteen. So they're talented guys.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Sodersom still lead the league and home run I.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Think, so yeah, yeah, So, I mean there's there's some talent.
And they called up Nick Kurtz today and Nick Kurtz
is coming up our.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
First rounder from last year. So that's quick. That's quick
to the major smitch there is Yeah missed a.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Yeah, Jacob Wilson, he's on my fantasy team, but he's
on the bench because I have I have Trevor's story
and Bobby Witt junior. Yeah, that's shortstops so he doesn't
really have a chance.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Oh yeah, he's the third stringer, no doubt about that.
So uh yeah, we uh, you know, we obviously think
that that's pretty good matchup pitching wise for this Rangers team.
But we'll have to see, you know, how it all
works out in those two things, because it's you know,
they got to go out there and play the game
in championship games. I like your name, by the way,
(11:07):
because that's of course that Patrick Dumont reference where Patrick
Dumont said last year when we played in the championship games,
oh boy of the NBA Finals. I think that's funny
that said. We are getting to our lineups. We're going
to talk about that. I see the chat going with
their suggestions at lineup. You'll hear ours coming up a
(11:27):
little bit later. And missed. I really never root against
jose Leclerk. You just don't root against him. But you know,
if he came in and blew a safe today, I mean,
I guess that'd probably be okay, But no, I'm not
rooting for that, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Yeah, jose good guy learned English. Didn't want to do
interviews with the translator, at least with the local people.
I know he did in the World Series some but
when it was just the guys, he knew he spoke
the English, and really for a while there was like
adamant that he would not use a translator so you
(12:06):
can learn the language.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Lives in the area.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Still, organization was very good to Jose, and Jose was
very good to the organization when you when you add
it all up, he won a World Series from Rangers.
U Or rode him in the postseason there, and it's
good to it'll be good to U. Seeing when they
come to town, which is which is next week, I think, yeah,
(12:29):
that's right, Yeah, yeah, so good dude. And you know,
hopefully the offense will begin to click and it won't
even be in.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
In save situations. You know, there areas will just do
like the Cubs didn't. Didn't somebody else. Seems like somebody
else might have done that against the A's up there
in Sacramento where they just put you know, just a
ton of boards, a ton of US point scoring on
the board, but runs across played and so forth. But anyway,
we'll see what happens in that game tonight, and like
we say, we get to all of that a little
(13:00):
bit later on in the program. The pitching has been great,
and the and the need for the bullpen has been
great because of all these one run games. But again,
it would be nice to have a little breathing room
from that offense for.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Sure, you know, and I mean blowouts and blowouts, blow
outs the wrong way, help the bullpen, you know, if
we're being honest. But yep, you know, if if you
could be nice to see Jacob Latz pitch, I mean,
if he's on the roster, can't let him sit there
and collect dust. So yeah, you know, it wouldn't be
bad being nine to ninety two going into the ninth
(13:39):
and get Lats a little work or Caleb Bosley a
little work. But yeah, you know, you look at it,
and you look at everything, and if you go back,
what's what's the twenty second?
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So this was the Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
I'm in the last day of spring training a month
ago and you're thinking, oh man, this bullpen, I don't
have anybody. Yeah, and uh, you know, what's what's going
to happen, Who's gonna be the closer and all that stuff. Well,
it's all worked out so far. I know, it's only
twenty two games, but you got to be happy with it,
(14:14):
but you've got to be got to be thrilled with
it really, and and uh, you know, when you're gonna
play close games.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
There's a very little margin for air.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
I mean, Chris Martin has three losses. Yeah, you know, yeah,
and and really give it four hundred runs and one
give up a two run over to cal Rawly in
one and gave up that little sacrifice fly on Sunday.
And that's all it takes when you're not scoring runs.
But they've been, they've been great. And I think that
(14:43):
as as bad as the offense has been, uh, the
pitching staffs has been as equally good.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Yeah, right, as big a surprise as it's been that
the offense hasn't hit, especially the bullpen, it's that big
of a surprise that they're doing as well as they are.
But really the entire staf more coming as we get
to the outfield, because there have been some changes there
which necessitated changes to the infield in a way. So
(15:09):
we talk about all that next and here from Dustin
Harris as we continue with the DLS Rangers podcast.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
I got, I got, I got you, John, I'm ready,
I'm ready for ready with LinkedIn LinkedIn because we got
we got to save you for the next one. But
LinkedIn UH if, as you guys know, it's a great
place to connect with people who have jobs offer.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
It's a great place in network.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
LinkedIn jobs, a great place for you to go ahead
and a if you're hiring. If you are a business
owner need to hire, you can go to UH LinkedIn
dot com slash rangers and post your job for free
so you can get people looking at UH at your
business and getting some help. But also if you're in
(15:57):
the market for a job, it's a good place go
and set things up and you would be surprised how
you get connected with people you haven't heard from for
a while and people who just might be able to
help you out. But you don't have the time. If
you're a small business owner, you don't have the luxury
of clocking out early. You're thinking about all the time
you got to grind. But LinkedIn takes care of you.
(16:19):
And again, post your job free at LinkedIn dot com
slash rangers.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah. So tomorrow I go to the eye doctor and
what I do is I get a new prescription for
my eyes. And what I will do with that prescription
is I will send it to Shady Rays. See if
they give me a pair of these babies prescription. See
what I'm saying, These are available in prescription. It's one
(16:46):
thing we don't talk about enough. And actually I might
get a different style of shades, and I'll definitely be
getting a different style of regular glasses. I don't know
if my regular glasses will be Shady Rays, but I
know my sun glasses because they're the best. They're durable,
they last great, they are well guaranteed, they have great styles,
(17:06):
great colors. They're very fashionable, and we encourage you to
get you some Shady Rays. They're really an expensive too.
I'm not sure we'll find out how much the prescription
sunglasses are Shady Rays dot Com code DLLs for thirty
five percent off. All right, So Dustin Harris, you know,
(17:28):
got called up and he made you know, he necessitated
that change and it didn't really affect the infield, but
it did affect the infielders, right, the utility infielders that
were available in that Ezekiel Duran got you know, got
sent down and it's an opportunity for him, and I'm
sure he views it that way, to go to the
(17:50):
miners and get at bats. He needs regular at bats
to be at his best, so there's no doubt he'll
have the opportunity to do that now. And the reality is,
we thought that Ezekiel Duran might not even make it
out of spring training as we started to put together
who we thought the opening day roster would be. Jeff
so good for him that he, you know, made it
(18:13):
out of spring training and he made it this far
into the season, But there was only so much need
for two utility infielders like that, and Josh Schmith obviously
owns that position now, and then there was a need
to get Dustin Harris in particular in here when Wyatt
Langford went down.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Right and you know, as the as it pertains to
Sunday's moves, when when Duran was sent down while Langford
was was optioned or activated from the injured list. Dustin
Harris can play first base. He played in the minor
leagues and the Rangers haven't given him work there. He's
(18:56):
played first base as recently is the last season you know,
in Triple A Round Rock, so it's not like it's
a foreign position, like he's having to learn something that
he hasn't had reps quite frankly, I think he's the
choice over Jock Peterson if something, if Jake Berger needs
a day off, or if the woes continue and he
gets a day off. I think I think that that
(19:19):
Dustin Harris will will slide in there. You know, Josh
Smith can play there. He's been fine. You know the
throwing error the other day with a Valdi when Smith
wasn't covering. It was a three two count with two
outs and he never holding the runner. But the first
basement typically reminds the pitcher, hey, I'm not covering, and
(19:42):
so that one got away from Josh Smith, but also
of Wald.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
He should have known him better.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Anyway, I think that this team has the opportunity to
do some things with with with Harris. He can play
all three outfield spots. He can play first base. I
think he's probably there. I mean, he can play third,
but he's probably like their fourth string third baseman. Sure,
they don't want to do that to him, but he's fast,
(20:08):
he's athletic. He's been putting together some great at bats.
I know he had a couple of strikeouts on Sunday,
but I don't think he was alone there. And then
you know, you saw that chopper to first base where
Freddie Freeman got it behind the bag. Dustin Harris almost
beat it to the base. Yeah, you almost almost beat
it out.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
For a hit.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
This guy's gonna play hard. He's young, he's not gonna
take anything for granted. And you know what, he's familiar
with this ballpark Stutter Health, Sutter Health, not Stutter Sutter
Health ballpark. And so maybe maybe this is a perfect
spot for him, you know, and I would expect that
he's in the lineup tonight.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Although.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
You know it's a little it is a little difficult
against our right hander because if if the Rangers are
intent on playing Smith and Jock Peterson, it's going to
be hard to get to get dust and Harris into
the lineup. But that's up to Bruce Bochi to figure out.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah, that's his job. That's why he's paid the big bucks.
And you know, Dustin Harris has just you know, he's
he's again. He hasn't been here long, but in the
in the week and a half or so that he's
been here, he's forced Boach's hand because Boach doesn't like
to take a hot bat out of the lineup. He
said that Sunday that's why he was there, That's why
he was playing on Sunday. You know, that was one
(21:24):
of the questions asked prior to the game. Why isn't
you know, Leoti taveris in there? So well, I'm not
taking a not taking a hot bat out of the lineup.
So it's cool for a guy when you can, you know,
it's force your way and you know, force the hand
of the manager.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Basically, Yeah, that's and that's what these guys want to do,
you know. And and uh, you know, Dustin knows the landscape,
he knows who's ahead of him in the pecking order.
But when you get the opportunity, you can get in
there and you do what you can. You know, you
try to make an impression you have you don't if
if you're a player who's on option, you don't get
(22:02):
a ton of chances, right, you know. And and he's
at the point in his career he's been a prospect
for a long time now.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
He finally made.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
His debut last year, showed well at the end of
a you know, meetingless series in a meetingless series at
the end of a bad season. But he worked on
things his offseason, motivated, got his bat faster and got stronger.
He says, he's weighs about two twenty five right now.
It's a big dude who can motor that size. And
(22:32):
you saw hi me Logan Gilbert saw it. You make
a mistake and he's going to deposit it. So good
for Dustin Harris. He's a smart guy too. He recognizes
how important it is to be versatile and then not
to look too far into the future.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Yeah, and you know that was my first impression him.
I didn't see him in person when he was up
last year for whatever reason, jet, but when I saw
him in the clubhouse the other day, I was like, dang,
it's a big dude, you know. And now you know,
just like you know, stocky, but not not fat stocky,
like just stout, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Yeah, he he it'sy. It's pretty funny. We've had him
on The Weekly Show a few times, and the first
time we had him on there, you know, he was
coming off his or in the middle of or coming
off his great twenty twenty one season, and he was
talking about how in high school he never hit a
home run, he never hit the ball over the fence.
While he was a little skinny guy and then he
(23:30):
ended up going to a junior college where he played
I mean he played second base a right, So anyway,
he ends up going to a junior college, putting on
some muscle, hitting the ball over the fence a little bit.
Drafted by the A's, Yeah, acquired in the Mike Minor trade,
and really Marcus Smith was the the Rangers target in
(23:50):
that one, and Dustin Harris was almost like a throw in.
And then things happened and Dustin Harris's dad pitched professionally.
He has a a little brother who's in the Cardinals system,
who's actually, uh further in the Texas League with the
Springfield Club, the Cardinals affiliate. So there's some talent in
that family some size. It's a baseball family, but it's
(24:13):
a he's a smart kid. Yeah, he's a smart kid.
He knows, he knows where he is at in his
career and what he needs to do to to maybe.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Take off.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
So one of the times that he was on the
Weekly Show with Jeff and John Moore was this past week,
and does does the SoundBite with him need a little
setup job?
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Well, it's it's about what I've been saying. Just he's
smart and understands the need to be versatile and to
not look too far into the future, which said they're
not going to try it third though he said, no,
he's played some third, but we're not going to try
him over there.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
But how important is it for you to be versatile
like that?
Speaker 5 (24:52):
Extremely especially in this in this lineup. I mean it's
deep as all get out, So the more the more
up tunity to have just cracking the lineup, just playing
anywhere in the field. I feel like it's just good
for me, you know, just being able to be versatile.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Like you said, Yeah, how do you look at it?
Speaker 4 (25:13):
I mean, you're a young guy, and like you just
said that, and you know, you know, organization's pretty pretty
deep and pretty stacked with guys and All Stars and such,
and how do you view your where you're at in
your career right now, isn't waiting for any opportunity.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
How do you look at it?
Speaker 5 (25:34):
Yeah, I mean I'm just trying to stay grounded and
stare at my feet or and just kind of take
it day by day. I mean, well, I'm up here,
just try to learn from the guys who are around me,
the All Stars, the guys who have been doing it.
For a long time and just yeah, try not to
think too much into the future and just try to
(25:55):
win every day.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah, I mean it's a great approach. And in fact,
you know, he might and simplify it further whinever at
bat right. Yeah, I mean that's it sounds so cliche
and and so boring, but literally that's what they win
every pitch. You can even break it down to that, right,
I mean, that's what they really need to do. Just
take this thing in such small bites. It is interesting, though.
(26:19):
I loved his look when you said they're not going
to try you at third and he's like, come on,
you know, like he's like, I can I can play
third you know, like I love that.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
I mean I like that attitude one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
You know.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
I told Broach he saw athletic, you could play short
stuff and both He was like, I heard it, I
heard third base.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
It can go very well. So we're not gonna.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
We're not going to do that to him. All right,
that's cool. But you know what one thing though, that
Harris is is allowing Boaching the Rangers to do, and
this is what they wanted to do all all along,
is not play Why at Langford in center field. Yes,
they want Wyat Langford to play only left field. It's
(26:58):
not that he can't play center and maybe he will
depending on what these changes are that potentially are ahead
for the lineup. But they want White Langford to play
left field and just worry about hitting and especially now
that he's coming off this oblique thing and running around.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Okay, I get it.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
No center field, but that's them in there. Their goal
the whole off season and spring and is still their
goal to leave him in left field. Dustin Harris the
other day looked pretty dang good in center field. I
thought he tracked some difficult balls to catch. There are
some line drives that were hit pretty much directly at him,
(27:37):
and those are always hard balls to read. He was
able to get to him and make the right read
and and make the play. I look forward to seeing
his arm a little more. I haven't seen him throw
a lot. I hear it's a fine arm, and you know,
if you play third base, you have to have a
good arm. So I think that's just he's too athletic
to be a first basement. I think that's kind of
(27:59):
the overriding set and says that you don't want to
waste that talent at a position where defense isn't necessarily
at a premium.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
So good for.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Him, Very excited for him again. You know, basically have
have had him on the podcast or have known about
him for you know, four years and talk to him,
and you know a lot of these a lot of
these young guys are a little soft spoken and don't
don't really provide lengthy answer talkers as he will. But
(28:33):
Dussin's grown into that point. He was kind of holding
court the other day with the TV folks, So he's comfortable.
I think he feels like he belongs here. But like
he said, he understands the business and he could be honestly,
he can be gone tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
But there's four center fielders. I mean, I mean, well
three really three, there's three right now in him and
Leodi and Kevin Pillar. Yeah, and so I mean we
don't think obviously, and I know Dustin can play a
lot of other places too, but that's essentially that's too many.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Probably, but they can all play the other outfields. Truths
and Josh Josh Smith played a really good center field
in spring training, so that would not surprise me at
all if he ended up in center field.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
In the near future a lot.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Yeah. So anyway, that is our talk about Dustin Harris
and the outfield. But we've been sort of hinting at
this as you have in the chat all day long,
So let's get to it. Our lineup proposals are coming next.
It's the DLS Rangers podcast.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
We're going to talk flooring as we always do with
our good friends at Empire Today. They are an og
sponsor of DLS. You can't thank them enough for all
that they've done for us, including installing some of our flooring.
They're in the in the main and the main studio
the lounge as they like to call it. And they
did it because and we were able to do it
(30:14):
all basically on our computer. Yeah, We're able to pick
the colors and the floors and what we wanted and
how it looked in the space just by holding up
our phone. They really gave us a home field advantage.
Like you want all your teams to have. You want
the home field advantage, Empire Today is going to do
it for you. You can call them schedule an in
home estimate to help you help you pick out the
(30:36):
colors that's right.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
For the room. The right.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Look for the room.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
It could be hard with it, carpet could be it
could be a tile, it could be anything. Don't go
to a big box store. Go to Empire Today. And
if you do and you go to Empire today dot
com slash ds, you'll get three hundred and fifty dollars
off new floors.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
So what are you doing? Not this weekend but next week?
I have a suggestion for you At and T Stadium
and Globelife Field, one stop shot Man, park your car
and go either way because there's a lot happening. The
Rangers are home that weekend. That might be the series
(31:13):
with the A's. As a matter of fact, it is.
It is. Yeah, so you got the Rangers home against
as I don't know, I got whichever one. And you've
also got the lone star smokeout at at and T
Barbecue and country music. What the heck is more Texan
than that? What a great opportunity for you to go
out there and get fourteen teams of barbecue competitors from
(31:36):
across the country and we get to decide who is best.
And that that's a dry rub that got sort of
in my you know what my sinus is, So stay
tuned to DLLs for more upcoming information, VIP ticket giveaways
kids under ten or free sixty eight bucks. It's the
(31:56):
lone Star smokeout, We'll see you there to get a
price or barbecue succeeds well. And that's the thing. And
I didn't even mention the three Country, but Cody Jinks
is going to be their Midland is going to be there.
Who is the other one? Oh John Party? So yeah,
there's a lot. I mean there's a lot going on
that weekend right there. Good stuff, and yeah, we want
you to be a part of it, we really do.
(32:16):
We think it'd be great for you. We want you
to let us know what you think about our lineups too.
And it's it's very interesting that what you well, how
do we want to do this? Do we want it?
Because did you did? You did a left hand right?
You did a left hand right? Yeah, I just did
one for right. Uh. And we don't have a graphic
(32:37):
depiction of this because it's a process sometimes and we
don't have a you know, a form built for it.
But we're going to get that. But we're going to
talk this through, all right. So let's let's both do right.
I didn't do left. Okay, there's probably not a tremendous
amount of change on left. But all right, so right handed,
I guess a right handed pitcher. Yes, here is how
(32:59):
I have the lineup. Josh Smith center field, Corey see
your shortstop? Why at Langford left field, Dolas Garcia right field,
Marcus Simons second. Don't what spot did you have Marcus
in that he's in the fifth spot, fifth spot, batting, sixth,
(33:21):
Jack Peterson at d H spatting seventh, Josh Young eighth,
Jonah Him catcher, and the number nine hitter, Jake.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Berger at first base. Interesting, So why did I do
it like that? Well, you know, I want you got
to have some left handed bats in there against a
right hander. You've got to get Jack Peterson going, just
you don't have to get him going in the middle
of the lineup and then down there at the bottom
with two lefties at the top of the lineup, you
(33:52):
got to at least try to make it a little
hard for them to the opponents to pitch. So him
being a switch hitter at eight kind of a kind
of helps with that. You can't if you're facing eight,
nine one and you're the opposing team, You're not gonna
you're not. You have a decision to make to get
(34:13):
to you know, through the three batter minimum. And I
think him is better against left handers. He is, but
so this could be Higashi Yoka in this instance too.
But I still think that that's the best way to
do it, just at the bottom, so that one of
the one the lineup flips, they have decisions to make
(34:34):
in the opposing dug out.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Yeah, and we we are very similar because I had
Josh Smith leading off and playing center.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
I mean, it's great minds.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
You have to play him, right, I mean you have
to keep his bat in the lineup, right. I think
he is the prototypical I don't know, I shouldn't say that.
I think he's a he's a leadoff hitting starter kit, right.
I think he does a lot of things right there.
I think he'd be really good at that phys at
that spot in the batting order. And again then so
then my dilemma was where am I going to play
(35:07):
him every day? Because I don't want to have to
take somebody else out of the batting order every day.
If we're planning our ideal batting order, he's there, He's
in center field. Corey Seeger is a shortstop in the
two spot in the batting order, number three of course
Wyatt language you had Wyatt three as well? Yeah, okay,
I have Adolees four. That's you know, debate. I mean,
(35:28):
that's up for negotiation though depending on you know, if
he comes out of his his he's not he's not
in a slump like some of the other guys, not
the Peterson or Simeon. But anyway, we need more. Uh
And then so the Adolis is four at in the
right fielder of course at Wyatt's the you know, the
left fielder, third baseman, Josh Young, I have fifth. Did
(35:50):
you have him fifth or sixth? Seventh? Okay? Yeah, uh
so I got Josh hitting fifth. I'm I'm betting on
the upside with Josh Young. The way he started the season,
then he got hurt and then he has he's been
a little slow coming back, but I've got him. I've
got him fifth. I believe in Josh Marcus Simeon the
second basement, sixth in my batting order. Jack Peterson down
(36:13):
there at seventh. And again, if Jack Peterson comes out
of his funk, he may force you to move him up,
but for now, can you imagine even if he's a pedestrian, like,
you know, lower than normal, if you had Peterson and
mine would be Peterson, Jake Berger and then Jonaheim if
you had but that has a bottom third of your
batting order. I mean, that's you know, that's those are
(36:34):
three guys that can give you tremendous power at the
bottom of the order. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
And you know, we talked so much about Dustin Harris
this last segment, and we both have him out of
these lineups. But if now, now my lineup is is
not like a dream lineup, it's like a reality a
reality check lineup, right because Jake Burger is not going
to get benched. Nope, Okay, he's not, uh Peter Gators benched.
(37:04):
So now if they were, if if if, if we're
doing our dream matchup, then yeah, I'll take Peterson out
and put Dustin Harrison and I'd probably make Josh Smith
the d H and Harris the center shoulder.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Ye.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
But the point is that we got to be a
little bit grounded in reality here, and these are what
these are changes that I think are more realistic that
that Bouche and Chris Young and Donny Ecker are discussing.
Now that's so, that's against right handers. I did go
ahead and do a lineup against lefties, all right, So
against left.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Handers, Yeah, let me think this through.
Speaker 4 (37:37):
Go ahead, I have Whya Langford leading off, okay, in
left field, Corey Seeger, Marcus Simeon, third, Josh Actually I
had Simion third. I want Josh Young third, Josh Young third,
Josh Smith at d H batting fourth a Doulas Garcia
(37:57):
Marcus Simeon then would beat sixth Jake Berger the catcher,
and Kevin Polar in center field.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
Okay, I'm okay, but the Smith and Garcia thing are
a little.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
I'm going left, I'm going right left right left, gotcha, gotcha?
Got And then you're going right right right switch.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Yeah. And again, I mean, you don't have to have
your best power hitter or you know, theoretically in that
four spot. But I just I was wondering about your
thought process on that, which makes sense.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, and again you get to the
bottom ands you have the switch hitter him in there,
kind of the same theory for a late inning situation.
You know, how are you going to do it? But
also it's right left, right, left, at the top, so
it's not as a big a deal. Kelly Man here
between Marcus, Jock, Jake and Leoti two should sit until
progress is shown. You got to show progress on the field.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Yeah, you got to. You know, if this it's a
it's a catch twenty two, right it is. You can't
sit them, but you can't play him, right.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
So yeah, And and I think I think the guy
has kind of been cast here on Leodi for the
time being.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
Unfortunately.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
You know, I think that Dustin Harris is going to
be the guy, or Josh Smith is going to be
the guy, and that Leodi is very clearly going to
be the the guy.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
The guy.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Yeah, and and uh to sit and and you know,
it's unfortunate. He can pincher on and you know, maybe
get up there and bunt Kelly Man. Other Issue Rangers
have lots of sluggers, but Paula's hitters not so much.
That's just the way the game's going, I think, dude.
And I think I think Wyatt has a chance to
be an all round guy. Corey has a chance to
(39:42):
be an all round hitter.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Smith pretty good hitter, I think so. Yeah, I think
Simon can be a good hitter when.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
He's when he's right.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
So anyway, it's just throwing stuff on the wall. I'm
sure that the Rangers have done a lot of that stuff.
And you know, we'll see how it shakes out tonight.
There's a beto bido, beto.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
Biddo, however we say it. Yeah, is the.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
Right hander, Sears, Tomorrow's the left hander, so Engin's a
right hander. So yeah, get to see you get to
see their thinking on display here in the first two games.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Yeah, and it'll be interesting. It'll be really surprising if
there aren't some sort of major changes, right. I mean,
I think I think you have to try something here,
and who knows how long that would last. I mean,
what we're proposing right now, as Jeff suggests, is like,
(40:41):
this is our idea to what I'd try to do
now to try and get this offense going. And but
then how long would you stay with that? I'm not sure? Again,
I really like I like Josh Smith right now better
at the top of the batting order, and I do
Marcus Simeon, But would I I don't know, I mean,
(41:05):
will I you know, if Marcus starts hitting normal? Yeah,
maybe I want him back up there. He's you know,
really good at that. So we've been really good for
the Rangers at that spot. So and again the right
we all know this, the Rangers will love it and
have their fingers crossed that one of these days Evan
Carter gets completely right and he gets back here and
(41:26):
he becomes the everyday leadoff hitter.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
Yeah, you know, and then he played three times last week. Yeah,
it's it's again. There's no no one's saying anything about this,
you know. There no one is saying much about Evan
Carter and what he's going through and what their plan is,
especially on the record. They're not saying it on background.
(41:53):
You know, he's going to play three or four times
a week. They're trying to get a baseline of what
his workload can be and build him into that. And
then you know, he's also still seen and visiting was specialists,
So there are days when he's not with the team,
he is flying to see or driving to see you.
I know, Drew Dawst here in Dallas was the one
(42:13):
who who they settled on as the guy to who
identified what the crux of the issue is. And and
Drew's been Drew's fantasti he's the Cowboys back guy. I
think he at one time was the Stars back guy.
Maybe he still is pro rodeo guys. He go see him,
Jeff Wilson goes on.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
I was gonna say I saw him once, but I
didn't need search. He used to be the Rangers back then. Ye,
So yeah, this is this is a.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Leader in the in backs world renown. And you know,
if if they're being diligent and staying on top of
it and doing things and seeing if there are any changes
or whatever it is. Anyway, it's it's something that a
lot of people have never dealt with in the game.
And so I I don't think Evan is like close,
(43:03):
although he has been better, Yeah, he has been better
down there when he is a little bit.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
Better progress championship games. Yet it's a nine o'clock start.
We hate that. Even Thursday is a nine o'clock start,
so we'll be doing postgame Thursday night late. And Joe, yes,
you're one hundred percent right. We can blame Tom Hicks
for these nine pm starts because way back in the day,
(43:27):
bud Sea League was going to move us to the
Al Central but Hicks said, oh no, I don't mind
staying in the AL West as long as you give
us games against the Astros? Are you kidding me? And
we hence have and it was even worse, of course,
when we played all the AL West teams nineteen times, Jeff,
(43:51):
there were so many late night games, but still plenty
of those, and you know, you just got to fight
through him. I do like that Los Angeles and I
think Seattle have tried to move their start times up, yes,
a little, but it does little seem that that's a
possibility for Sacramento. For whatever reason, I don't know. Yeah,
(44:12):
I'm not averree. Yeah, I don't think it mattered. In Oakland,
they weren't going to get a crowd, But in Sacramento
they may be feeling like they could draw one so.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Well, like ten thousand, that's almost a sell out of
that place. Yeah, true, twelve thousand Seeds Stadium.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
True, so true. Yeah. So anyway, Yeah, you're right, those
nine o'clock starts are tough. You gotta That's what we
said at the very beginning. You stayed up late for
the Stars last night, and now you got to stay
up late for the Rangers for the next few nights too,
And so there you go. That's what happens this time
of year. Up. Next, it's our cleanup segment. We clean
things up in baseball. And then the chat. It's next,
(44:46):
it's the DLLs Rangers broadcast.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
Hey everyone, Bobby Corella from ds MAVs.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
I am loud and proudly saying what I am right here.
I'm a die hard and you should be a die
hard too. You remember we got this deal going right
now thirty six bucks to become a die hard. I'm
not sure how much longer it's going to last. Just see.
It was kind of inspired by the NFL Draft, and
our people that make these decisions realize that we're going
(45:54):
to get a lot of eyeballs on us throughout the week,
in part because of baseball, part because of the NFL Draft,
So we wanted to throw everybody a bone and give
them thirty six dollars. It's the best deal you can
possibly find. It's a dime a day, Jeff. Basically, it's
ten cents a day for all the coverage that is
(46:15):
provided by all of our writers, including Jeff and Clarence Hill,
who were both at the Star Telegram for years and
years and years, and Joseph Hoyt who was at the
Dallas Morning News for years, Tim Cato who was viral
yesterday with all of his thoughts about the various things
that Nico Harrison has to say and all that. And
(46:35):
then we've got Sam Nesler writing stars for us too,
as they have even this series at one game of piece,
So become a diehard at ALLDLS dot com.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
Our shirts on the screen, I know as we sit
here Jones to my left on the screen, it looks
like DLS diehard.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Yeah, it's kind of like it does.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yeah. Cool stupid shirts, yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
Yeah, if you won't be stupid, if you were a
DLS down and you get these fabulous shirts. That's stored
on Allcitynetwork dot com. Again, I think I'm up to
sixteen wow, or maybe it's sixteen total items. Whatever it is,
it's a big number. My son has a shirt. He's
(47:18):
a big Travis Hunter fan, so we went out of
market got a Travis Hunter shirt. All of our markets
are represented. But the deal is if you get if
you get the membership, you get the free shirt and
you get it at stored at Allcitynetwork dot com.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
We'd appreciate you doing that. It's time to clean things up. Today.
We talked about Luisa Rise yesterday and the collision. It
was just awful. He's concussed, which isn't surprised, No, it's not.
And so now he'll be in concussion protocol and all
those types of things and they'll, you know, they'll get
him back when they can, and you know, after that,
(47:54):
it was just it was awful. So you just hope
there's nothing more to it than that, and I think
he's got to feel blessed and lucky that as of
right now anyway, there is nothing more to it than that.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Yeah, you know, it's a it's a seven day I
l it seems like, you know, if he was back
with the team and is back with the team, then
he's trending the right way. But you know, this is
this is tricky stuff, you know. And then you know,
I don't know, I don't know the medical history or
(48:27):
anything like that on a rise or what the likelihood
of a concussion is going forward now that you've had one.
But you know, you think about Joe Mauer, the catcher,
and he's in the Hall of Fame, sure, but you
had to finish his career at first base, and you know,
talk about the NFL quarterbacks and all that stuff, and
so you just you know, to to a tagle Ovoa
(48:47):
and how he gets concussions and does weird things with
his hands. Yeah, and you know you don't want to
see that. No, so get him, get him right. Pottery
is needing to be right because they're a good ball club.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
They are, Yeah, they're really playing well. And you're in
Detroit now, so we'll see what happens with that series,
of course, and we'll have good thoughts for Luisa Rise
no matter what. Spencer Strider Jeff back on the injured list.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
Yea, what a kick in the shorts. That is hamstring,
hamstring this time. You hate to see it. The Braves
have not gone off to a good start at all.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
There's some.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Public spat between the manager and the right fielder who's
an excellent player and it's Ronald A.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
Cooney. You may have heard of him. Yeah, And.
Speaker 4 (49:30):
So there's that, and so it's not going well. The
Braves are too good though to be bad. It's kind
of like the Rangers offense. I think that they'll be fine.
But Spencer Strider is a big part of it. So
hopefully it's just a minor strain. Yeah, it's just the
you You set him down for fifteen and he's going
(49:51):
to go the rest of the way, and it may
not be a bad time to give his armor break,
you know, coming back from from the Tommy John. And
you know, there are a lot of and you know,
there are two examples in Rangers history I can think
of off the top of my head where something else
starts to bother them. You Darvish had a shoulder deal
when he came back from his Tommy John was on
the injured list for a month and happened to al
(50:13):
Cy Young favorite Tyler Malley. You know, last year he
made three starts and had to shut it down with
a shoulder deal. So maybe maybe at the end of
the end of the season they'll look back and say, hey,
that was kind of a blessing.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
Yeah, yeah, there's no question. And you know, if it
is just a fifteen day injured list stint and then
you're back, and it's really not a big deal. But
if you're a Braves fan, you're like, oh, that's all
we need, you know. I mean after when you're off
to a slow start and you were so excited to
get Strider back, and you know, he just shoved Game
one and then was that I think that was his
(50:47):
first game, right man, I think it was the other day.
Speaker 4 (50:50):
Yeah, five innings. Yeah, and he was really good. Ended
up losing because yeah.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
But he was good. Yeah, he was good. So anyway,
that's that news. So have you seen this viral bit
with Matt Strom. Matt Strom of the Phillies has a
National Treasure Glove now and Matt Strom looks like Nicholas Cage.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
Jeff, that's what that's what I've been told. I mean,
he would need to save and cut his hair.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
But well no, but yeah, well there's some pictures of Cage. Uh,
there's there's one actually a shot where Cage's face is
photoshopped in and you're right, whoa, I mean that's amazing
and but but I see what you're saying. And especially
when he's looking down like that, when he's looking straight forward,
and we didn't have any picture we wanted of him,
(51:42):
but when he's looking straight forward, he's kind of got
all those I.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Just looked it up and there's definitely one.
Speaker 3 (51:49):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
National Treasure is a great movie. I love I love
it movie.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
I'm a big history guy.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
And yeah, did you notice that that glove on the
on the thing it's got the Declaration of Independence that's
written on there, which is really cool. And it was
our friends that was it Victus or Invictus? I think
it was Victis. Yeah, they're the ones that they're that
right there in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philly,
(52:17):
the ones that had the short, very short rush on
the torpedo bat.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
But Anyway, they are. They're the ones that came up
with the idea. Actually, when they saw Strom last year,
they said, hey, do you mind if we do a
National Treasure glove? He goes, oh, we have to. And anyway,
he's been using it since spring, but it's just kind
of gone viral here in the last week or so.
But I find that really cool. And now I will
(52:44):
say this, because there is so much white on that glove.
I wonder, you know, if some hitters are going to
start going, wait a minute, that's distracting.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
Strom's a big baseball card guy. He has a He's
done a show click collecting baseball cards and it was
on It was on Bally's a lot after Rangers games
last year. But he seems like a good dude.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
He really does.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
Yeah, and having fun with what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
Yeah. Love it. Love a guy who approaches his game,
his job, his life like that. That's really cool. You
remember we've talked before about the Speedway Classic, uh, and
that's a game coming up on August second at the
Bristol Motor Speedway. And it's essentially what this game is.
It's the equivalent to the Field of Dreams game or
(53:34):
the one at Rickwood last year, you know, and and
MLB does a great job with these games, and they're
you know, it's and and what they are is their
baseball's answer to the Hockey Winter Classic. You know. It's
like just a cool celebration of baseball in a different
way in the dog days, right, it's August second, we're
(53:56):
into the dog days of summer there. And anyway, it's
at Bristol this year, and it's on August second, and
it's the Braves against the Reds, which makes sense. And
now Tim McGraw is going to do a pregame concert
at the venue there.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Okay, cool.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
Obviously his dad was Tug so yeah, yeah, he's got
some base Tim.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
He's got some baseball ties and h and and he's
always been a huge baseball fan. He's a big, big
star obviously in country music. So that's pretty cool that.
I liked that that whole idea. I love the way
I met the guy last year at the All Star
Game who's in charge of all those different special events
(54:38):
for Major League Baseball. And he's a really cool guy
and really forward thinking and all that kind of thing.
So anyway that's coming up.
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Sometimes want to do you know, I covered NASCAR for
a little bit. That was kind of my entry into writing, Okay,
because with the Star Telegram, Yeah, Texas Motor Speedway, me
and John Sturbin. Well, John sturbin Is is such a
great writer and expert at racing. He was a fantastic
boxing writer too. But anyway, I covered races at Talladega, Daytona,
(55:12):
and Charlotte. And I always wanted to go to Bristol
because it's just so different than all these other places
and never made it. So maybe I can make it
for a baseball.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Game, wouldn't that be cool? Yeah? Yeah, all right, a
few things we got to try and clean up from
the chat. Joe thanks a for the picture of the
sunglasses on Twitter, and b Joe tells us that the
media guide says it's Beatle, so all right, we appreciate that. Joe,
thank you very much for that. Natalie wondering, and we
(55:45):
meant to mention this about Lighter's rehab and it didn't
go yet. It goes tonight in Round Rock.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
Yes, and he's probably gonna throw around sixty pitches, test
out the test out the blister, make sure it holds up.
I guess you'd rather something bad happen at in a
rehab start than in a major league start, especially in
the first game of a home of a road trip
where you don't want to tax the bullpen. But he
(56:15):
said everything's gone well so far. He's been throwing with
and without the band aid. Obviously, he can't throw with
a band aid in a game, so he may do that.
I think, though, you can glue it.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
Well, and that's the thing. Yeah, yes, you can use
the glue. Yeah, you can use the glue. And that's
why he tried that. I think twice, once in a
bullpen and once in a live VP. He went with
the glue.
Speaker 4 (56:40):
I don't think he cared for it, so he may
go without. But anyway, and I saw somebody on the
Twitter ask, you know, he needs a rehab sorry for
a blister. Well maybe if he was Nathan Vivaldi he wouldn't.
But this guy's made two starts this year. He's still young.
You want to make sure he should that he when
(57:01):
he is ready to come back to the the rotation
that he's dialed in. This is a this is a
tune up. I mean, it's a test of the blister, sure,
but it's a tune up to make sure that he's
able to command and locate like he did those first
two starts, because he was terrific. And uh, you know,
if the Rangers are going to make change with Corbyn
going to the bullpen or whatever they decide to do,
(57:23):
you want to at least have a guy in there
who can perform.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
Yeah, And the reality is it was not a given.
In response to that, we'd asked Bruce Bouchi about it
pretty much throughout the entire homestand last time, and he
was he would say, I think so, we're not sure.
We think so, right, They weren't one hundred percent sure
that they were going to send him, and he and
in his case, Boach referenced Patrick Corbyn. He goes, you know,
(57:49):
someone like Patrick Corbin might not need it. And again
that's to Jeff's exact point. Patrick Corbin's pitched, you know,
tons of innings forever, right, So you're okay with just
letting him come in and see what he's got. But
Jack Lder, you know, you just you want to try
and do everything correct with him. And and so that's
(58:11):
probably the best way to go is just get him
back there, get him back into game. Competition, get him
facing hitters again, and this won't This won't hurt him
one bit. It'll also remind him. Oh man, I like
that major league situation a lot better than the minor
leagues too well.
Speaker 4 (58:27):
And you know, whenever they activate him, it could be Sunday,
I guess could be the soonest, but you might want
to give him the extra day and do it to
start the Homestand you know that would make sense actually
doing it on the Monday, because that way everybody gets
an extra day. You're basically going would be going with
a six man rotation, and so after lighter starts, you
(58:49):
can maybe take Corbin out of the rotation, but everybody
would be on normal would be on, would be rested,
and normal rest. So and I don't think there's an
off day on this homestand so if that's the case,
then then that's definitely kind of the way they should
they that's the way they shouldn't have to do it. Yeah,
give everybody a blow, help save bullets for later in
(59:11):
the season. Make sure Jacob mcgram's not getting too tired.
Same thing with Tyler Mallley. You know they're both coming
off with Tommy John As we know, so go ahead
and just both a six man for a time or two.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
You know, Yeah, well's it gonna hurt?
Speaker 3 (59:24):
No, it's not. It's not like you're locked into that forever.
And and you know, give it a shot and see,
you knows, let one of these guys or emerge. Let
one of these guys you know, end up either being
a long reliever or if it were Rocker who who
was an odd man out, it seems like his option
better to go pitch as a starter at the minor
(59:46):
league level.
Speaker 4 (59:46):
That's pretty interesting. They arranging only have three off days
in May. Wow, So the fifth, the nineteenth, and the
twenty ninth. So this this so after this home stand
they'll go to Boston and then they don't. They'll be
off the fifth, but then they play what thirteenth straight days?
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Okay, that could be another.
Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
Opportunity for a spot start right in the middle there.
Maybe maybe against the Tigers, okay you're going to be
at Yeah, maybe on the home standing against the Rockies
could be a good spot to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
So that is going to pretty much do it for us.
We've got the game tonight. We'll be keeping close tabs on.
We know you will too, as late as it is,
we're back tomorrow at the same time. We're back to
spend lunch hour with you tomorrow and talk about that game.
Gets you ready for tomorrow's game, which of course will
feature Kamar Rocker as a starting pitcher, and hopefully we'll
(01:00:40):
be talking a lot about an offense that has erupted
for a few runs against Oswaldo Bedo. But that's all
for tomorrow's show. We thank you for joining us today,
we thank you for having lunch with us, and we
will plan on seeing you again tomorrow at noon for
another edition of the DL Rangers podcasts. All like the man.
