Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the holiday. He's so merry Christmas, everybody. You know
what I've just started to do. And I can't believe
it took me fifty seven years to start doing this.
I know how you were very funny, just right. He
got me the same thing he got me last year,
not a do.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
You listen to the story?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
Okay, no, no, no, no, no, Scoop no.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Scoop said, you don't buy me anything special, let me
go shop.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
And I said to said, don't worry, I don't buy
many anything.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
I got you the best gift, your favorite shot. Here's
your big lots gift card.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yet another gone I never got.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Twenty gives me one gift in all of the years
we've known each other, and it's a big lots gift
card and I never got to use it because now
the studio you can do that. But it is the
season that Anyway, what I was saying is it took
me all these years to finally write Mary Christmas. Differently.
From now on the rest of my life, I'm going
(00:58):
to spell Mary instead of M E R R Y
m A R Y for Mary, the Virgin Mary. It's
because of her that we even have Jesus Christmas. I'm
going with Mary m a r Y Christmas. But this
is the time for family. My cousin just walked in.
Mike here because he's dropping off some cookies. Hang on,
(01:18):
hang ty, Mike, I want to talk to you real quick.
But it's family and a lot of times it's joyous times,
but there's also hard family times around the Christmas time
because you want to be together. Sometimes you can't be together.
Our parents, our grandparents, they need different type of care
and that's where you come in.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah, that's where Columbus Care Patrol.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
We've been here for thirteen years plus fourteen years helping
families when they get to that point in the holiday season.
The biggest thing is you're seeing your loved ones and
you know mom or dad or you know Aunt Sally
whomever is just no longer safe at home and you
know their health is declining and you know what's the
next step.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
So you know, this is where you know, Care.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Patrol has been helping families finding senior living and I was,
you know, always talking to Boots. He's always saying, hey,
you should bring on you know someone that you've helped,
a client or a friend or family. So I brought
Matt and Julie on today and we helped Matt with
his father and we've helped him a few times, so
you know, today, you know, we just wanted to let
listeners know about Columbus Care Patrol and I wanted Matt
(02:19):
and Julie to kind of share a little bit of
you know, what we what we did for them specifically,
and this is the same exact thing we can do
for everyone else. But you know, one of the biggest
things with Matt, you know, his father, you know, has
been in assisted living for a few years and you know,
originally from up north in Ohio, and Care Patrol in
the Ashlan area helped. And then when you know, there
(02:41):
was time to move dad closer, we brought Matt.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Someone else in our family also to.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
So, I mean the biggest thing is we're word of
mouth and Matt's been a big advocate for Columbus Care Patrol.
But I wanted Matt to share a little bit of
just you know, the value what Columbus Care Patrol can
do and you know, really the process.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
We always talk about.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Being the easy button in the fast pass, and he
can kind of share, you know, we met with Matt
one one evening, I met with him over dinner and
then you know, from there the next morning and we're
touring communities, so we worked it quickly, but I wanted
Matt just to kind of share a little bit about
his experience in the value of care patrol.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Good thanks for having a great looking couple.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Well, at least you.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Guys. We spent a lot of time because Jim was
running late. But you guys are here all the time.
But I got Jim Jimmy, yeah, but it works. He's not.
But what I want to ask you, guys, is how
he helped you guys. I mean, he's sitting there saying that.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
It's not an easy time in people's lives when they
have to start thinking about care for their parents and grandparents.
It's not easy.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Yeah, Jim's helped us three times now, and I think
the first time it came on rather quick. Might A
had a fall with a brain injury, put him into
rehab and so forth. But then rather than going to
skilled nursing and staying there, we wanted, dignity wise, to
be in a facility where you know, it was assisted
living and he could live well. So Jim helped us
(04:03):
get connected. About two hours north, there's a Dina group
for a care patrol that was able to assist and
Jim was our advocate there. That was our first time,
and then my mom passed about six months after that
and we brought my dad down here so we could
care for him. So Jim helped us a second time.
And I will say that you know what's good about
(04:25):
what Jim does. He's your advocate. Right care Patrol is
your advocate. And you know you don't have to tell
your story fifteen times to multiple facilities. You tell it once,
and you know Jim understands what you're advocating for, what
he's advocating for, you know, financials, you know things, private
information that you might not want to share with fifteen
a different facilities.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
That's a really really good point. You tell it one
time to care Patrol, then they do all the work
for you. And his service is free.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
And it's free.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
I mean, well it's yeah, sure, it is free, and
it's amazing if you understand that. But I think it
really forced me from feeling like I had to jump
on the internet and search everything and put my name
in everywhere and have fifty people calling me and etc.
I made one call to Gim and for three times
now he's come through. And I will say the first
(05:12):
time we toured three facilities, the second time we toured two,
and this last time, which was just very recent, the
last couple of weeks, my father ended up at a
point where he needed additional help that couldn't be provided.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
That was my next question, Why did you have to
just had to keep upgrading to his situation?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
And I say, a world grade yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:29):
And at the facility he was at, we just we
ran out of options. But again I wasn't ready for
skilled nursing nursing home. And Jim helped us find a
facility that you know, had the care that he needed
and could keep him in a memory care assistant living
type facility. And so I will tell this really quick
that you know Jim said, okay, Well, I met him
(05:51):
on a Monday night and on Tuesday I asked a tour.
The next day, he goes, all right, well, based on
what you need, will tour one facility and I said, noe,
We're going to tour three. And at the end of
the day I put a deposit down on one facilitating
He goes, well, that was the one we would.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Have took, but we got to go to Bright Peop.
We're going to continue this conversation and I just want
to know and want to hear from your wife too,
how hard it is when we do come to these
situations in our life because we never wanted to have
to deal with this, but it's just a painful thing
to do, but you want to do the right thing.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
That's raw.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Many boots on Who's Radio six ten WDVN.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Are going to be talking about some Christmas fun coming
up in the three o'clock hour, but you know what,
it's also a serious conversation right now because we're going
to go through this eventually. I had to go through
it with my parents. I always look at people in
my age group and Boots, you feel the same way.
Just so fortunate if you still have your mom or
your dad or both Boots, I unfortunately do not, But
(06:46):
you will get to that point in your life where
they're going to need extra care and you're going to
have to make those tough decisions. And Jim Evererson is
in with Columbus Care Patrol. You do this every day
on a daily basis, and to just care about people.
It's our passion.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
But more important, I mean, families need to know about,
you know, Columbus Care Patrol because if they're doing it
on their own, it's this adopted task. It's very exhausting
if you're caring for a loved one and now you
have to go find an option. How do you even
know how to start?
Speaker 3 (07:12):
This?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So right, this is why alone we contact us.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
We can provide you with guides, we can provide you
with the intel on best options, and come alongside of
you and help you tour communities and just be the
easy button in the past past.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Let's face it, every family, I don't care who it is.
They're all nice people, but there's always that one family
member that throws a curveball at any decisions we make. Yeah,
or you come in wait, you put the even playing
field and you guys can go, well, my little sister
don't like it, but ask Jim.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
It kind of takes the heat off you guys, gies too.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Of how much money comes into conversation with this sort
of thing too.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
That's the challenge, I mean, especially when you're dealing with
our larger family and we'll sit down and we'll put
together you know, they care conference, and we'll put together
a zoom meeting and talk with everyone to get everyone
lined up, because most important thing is what's best for
mom or dad and you know we help you know,
table that and just get focused on the agenda here
and put a plan together and then you know, meet
(08:09):
and tore them and find them the best option.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
So brought in an awesome couple who recently had to
do this. In fact, they used your service three times before.
And we were talking before break of how difficult this
can be emotionally. But you were so lucky because you
had your wife. And I'm going to tell you what
when I was dealing with everything with my own mom,
thank goodness I had my husband, Randy. He was the
rock and he helped me through all of that because
(08:32):
he got along so well with my mom and just
you know, help me make valid, good choice decisions right.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
And my dad, I would say, you know, he loves
her more than me.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
See that's how my mom I was so exactly. Their
deal was always like listen, you married or no take backs.
You got her now. But can you talk about being
because you don't want to be an outsider. You are
the in law, but you don't feel like the in
law because you really are family. But those decisions are
difficult for an in law to come and make.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
You know.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, a point of view.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
I would say, I don't get in the way of
the decisions. Although he bounces things off of me and
out of love for his family, we arrive at the
same decisions. I affirm him a lot in his decision,
but I will speak from the standpoint that you know,
we all are walking around with full plates. For us,
we were like empty nesters when the world of parents
(09:23):
started to unravel and after his mom passed, and then
now we're the primary, like local people to care for
his dad, and we've shared some of that journey already.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
He's self employed.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
I'm back to work full time because again we're empty
nusters and suddenly you're like, you feel like you don't
have time for this. But getting in touch with Columbus
Care Patrol, the stress starts to come down because you
see there's a pathway that's logical on how you arrive
at this. And with him, you know, he's in his
(09:56):
self employed schedule. He's got dates that you don't compromise
on on his schedule because that's his livelihood. His calendar
has to cross with a lot of other people's calendars
and you can't unravel that and rescheduled next week. So
so I know the pressure that those things carry for him.
And then when a wrench is thrown into what we
would try to maintain as a routine, that brings a
(10:16):
whole new level of stress just in your personal life,
let alone the care that you're worried about now for
your loved one who they are helpless without the family
members that are making decisions.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You have to be the best advocate for your parents parents.
You have to because no one's going to do that
for you.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
And so now babing through this cycle three times, I
mean the mystery is gone with you know, Columbus Care Patrol.
You're just now at a place where it's like, okay,
well it's it's time to make the call again. And
literally you can't count on it happening this fast. But
the bad news hit on a Monday, And on Tuesday,
(10:53):
Matt was putting deposit down on a room that was
available in a place that Jim knew.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Matt, how did you need to go to care Patrol?
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Well, Jim and Bethany, are we went to church with
them and we just networked.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I guess for a year on a vacation.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
You're an evil church person care and you believe Wow.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
But the biggest part of this is I have friends
or family, but anyone. We treat everyone the same, and
we're going to be an advocate for the family. And
more importantly, stay off the internet because it just becomes
even more of a chaotic mass. And you know, I,
you know, one of the other listeners that knew about
care Patrol went through the process. One on the internet
forgot about care Patrol and in the middle of it,
(11:36):
Boots You attached me.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
To her, and she's a hot mess.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
She's having all these communities chasing her and she didn't
know which one, and I specifically told her the one,
and we went and looked at it and she tore
it and she put a deposit down. So it's kind
of late in the game where we can come alongside you.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
So start the process. It's not a crisis if you
just need a plan.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
You know, let's put a two year plan together so
no one has a crystal ball knowing when you know,
the wheels come off and there's a crisis. So let's
have that plan, and you know by calling us six
one four eight eight eight safe, you know, I'll do
a quick, quick intake with you. I'll give you a
great plan and more importantly, I'm here on the side
ready to come alongside of you when you're ready to execute.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
You do so much for Columbus Care Patrol. I still
get boggles in my mind that it's a free service
for people.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
So the communities are the ones that handle our fees.
So it's no different if you're on online. But the
difference is this, you're talking to someone that's been in
every community we've been doing.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Talking to someone is the big thing.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Exactly one.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
And we'll meet with you and right we come with
you to the tours so we know how to you know,
keep thoughts and manage it because if you go on
your own, you're going to be spending hours. We've put
together a plan and within you know, three hours, Matt,
we looked at three communities in the morning and there.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
Was somebody like three days after we've had this recent
go around at my office that was telling me about
his family woes, mom fell down the stairs, all this,
and he's ready to look for some kind of next
step Care and I'm like, what are you doing? He's
he's looking first geographically based online.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
That's what's coming in for him.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
He's reading star reviews and I'm like, stop what you're doing.
I'm going to give you somebody's phone number and this
is going to make your Christmas totally different.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
It takes all that tedious work away because Jim does
it himself or their team at Columbus Care Patrol. So
we're up against the break. What is the best way.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
To get The best way is get on Columbus dot
you know, Carepatrol dot com or call me directly six
one four eight eight eight save. You know, we're open
nine am to nine pm if i'm you know, I'll
pick up the phone whenever you call if I'm available.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
So we're here to help. So that's the most important thing.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
He's like doctor Cohen, always available. That's the greatest numbers
for eight eight eight safe.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
You guys love the fact that you have to worry
about that. I mean, in the back of your mind
you worry about him. At least you know you've placed
him in the right place. Jim helped you get him
the right place, and it tests. It takes some pressure
off you every day knowing a dad's in good hands.
We did us.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Our last round was two weeks ago, yes tomorrow right,
So it started on a Monday Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
We had in place a peace of mind.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
It was a fast pass and an easy button.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Just like Jim said, Columbus Care Patrol. Look it up
and the coming up next the best last minute gift
idea that is perfect for absolutely anyone on your list.
And you know what it takes all your stress? Oh way,
you will love this.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
