Speaker 1 (00:00):
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Boats is
off today, but we have so much to talk about.
This was actually our first official weekend at our weekend
little house at Indian Lake, and I am shocked at
how many people have boats, Like I didn't know this
(00:23):
was even this big of a deal. I didn't know
it was that much of a thing. But when you're
around it and when you see it, I am floored
of how many people, especially in Ohio, because you really
don't think of waterways in Ohio other than Lake Erie,
but there are so many different lakes and different areas
that people go and simply enjoy their boat. Who knew?
(00:47):
Who knew that boats were so popular? Chris, our producer,
did you ever want a boat? Did you ever know
that this was such a big thing and hobby for people.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I didn't know it was that big until my first
time going boating, which was like two years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Where'd you go?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
What was it?
Speaker 1 (01:07):
It's not a truck question.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I can't even remember. It might have been Indian Lake.
It wasn't very far, but my first term being on it,
and I remember just being on the lake that one time.
There was about twenty five boats.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, I just I mean, this is a way of
life for people. And I will say this for Randy
and myself. This was not planned for years. It was
kind of a spontaneous thing and I love to live
life that way. And I think a lot of it
really started with we're going to have all this free
time on our hands now that Cammy's no longer playing
(01:42):
softball with the Buckeyes, and we just invested so much
time the last four years traveling with her and watching
the team play. Every little ounce of free time that
we had was really indebted to that. And we've done
that all of our life, through all of our travel
ball with my son as well playing AAU basketball. As parents,
you do that, you give up your weekends because part
(02:02):
of your weekends is being their cheerleader and supporting them
for everything that they do and that they choose to
play or get involved in. So now that that part
of our life is gone, we kind of needed something
else and so it was kind of a spur of
the moment thing. We started to look into it. We
started looking at different properties and then we ended up
getting this perfect little house for us, and we really
(02:25):
bought it because it has extra land fenced in yard
for our dogs. So this was their first weekend on
lake Life, and in lake Life, we took them out
on our boat because this little property has a ded
to dock with like you know what, we got a dock,
We got to get a boat. So all of this
came together. And the reason why I'm telling you this
is anybody listening. Sometimes in life you just got to
(02:48):
go for it. Live on the edge, do things that
are spontaneiti. It is spontanous, spontaneous spontaneity because it's such
a fun way to live life. And we had a
blast this weekend already meeting great, great people. People right
across the street from us are outstanding Ralph and Joni.
(03:09):
They know the lay of the land there and they've
just taken us under their wing. And so many people
commented on Facebook, you're gonna make great memories already. You know,
another chapter of your life begins with making great moments
along the way, meeting different people and new memories. And
they've already happened. This was our first weekend and we've
already had so many laughs together and things that we
(03:32):
chalk up that we thought, you know what, we'll ever
forget this moment. So my point is this, go for it.
If there's something you want to do, do it. Why
not do it. We are going to love living there
on the weekends. We're going to love this Indian lake
community already, love the people we've met. I'm just floored
of how many people have already accepted this into their
(03:55):
own lifestyle, Like lake life is a thing. Having a
boat and taking it out every weekend or as much
as you can is a real thing. Even in Ohio
where you think there's so much land and you don't
think of lakes. Nah, think again. These people who do
this on a regular basis are so happy. Life is
(04:17):
too short not to be happy. So I am so excited, Chris,
that this is our new way of life. I'm so
excited that the dogs enjoyed it. At one point, Striker,
we have our little dock area, and Striker was going
to jump from the dock area onto our boat, onto
our pontoon, and it was kind of pushed back a
little further, so I think he would have made it.
(04:40):
But Striker was getting in motion to jump, and Nyla,
who's younger and extremely athletic, jumps right in front of
Striker knocks Striker to the water, and in this embankment
that's it's right off the dock, so there's cement there
and now on the ground, it's all water. Striker couldn't touch,
(05:00):
so he's trying to claw his way back up onto
the dock. He couldn't, so I had to jump in
after my dog in the water to hoist him up,
and then we got him on the boat. But I
mean just things like that that you'll live and learn
along the way, you know. And watching these four dogs.
We have four dogs, and Striker and nilar Ay my shepherds.
They were just loving life. And then my littlest dog, Whopper,
(05:24):
liked being out there too. I don't think she was
as crazy as the shepherds. And then a really old dog,
z Eddi, just was passed out and laying on the
floor of this pontoon. I think Jetti just couldn't get
back to land fast enough. So we're like, maybe next
time we just take the shepherds. But if you're one
of these people who you just love lake life, you
know what, folks, I get it. I get it. I
(05:46):
had no idea that this was such a big thing
here in our great state of Ohio. But now that
we do, we are full in. We're ready to go,
and I can't wait for next weekend.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Already, Chris, I was like fun already except for the
striker falling in part right.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
And then we had this little bonfire at the end
of the evening in the dock area. It's just for
the people in our little I guess you'd call it
a little neighborhood. And so we had all four of
our dogs out there, and Ralph and Joni had their
dog and they're just kind of meandering around because it's
all fenced off so no one else can get to them.
But it's right near the dock area. Well, someone was
coming in with his boat, another one of our neighbors
(06:25):
who we just met last night. His name too is Randy,
seventy three years old, built like just in great shape.
I mean, this guy looks great and he's seventy three.
He was just coming in from a class reunion of
Bath High School up that way in northwest part of
the state. And all of a sudden he's putting the
cover on his boat and we hear this little dog
(06:45):
fell over. Little dog fell over, So whopper fell off
into the water, so Ralph got into the water and
hoisted Whopper up. Listen, I'm excited for these moments. I'm
excited for these memories. And if you have a boat
in Ohio, you are not alone. And I get it.
I get why you like it so much. It's just
beginning for us. We already can't wait to go back.
(07:07):
We have so many things to talk about today. Did
you hear about the statue that was downtown forever in
Columbus of Christopher Columbus Back in twenty twenty It was
removed and now there's an effort to bring it back.
The question is where where do you put this old
statue of Christopher Columbus. We're going to find out also
(07:29):
a lot of different school levies will be back on
the ballot our next election. And it seems like every
time a district has an opportunity, they're always going to
voters to ask for more money. Ask for more money, Well,
is it legit? Do they really need the money? We're
going to tackle that issue for one Central Ohio school
district whose school have you failed last time? But they're
(07:49):
going back to voters and even asking for more money.
Do you, as a taxpayer get sick and tired of
these levees. Do you wish there was another way to
fund schools or is it just something that you accept
and you're willing to keep forking in and forking over
all this money for different schools. We're going to have
that conversation as well, and it is back to school,
so we're going to talk with doctor Cone. He's going
(08:11):
to bring his daughters in again today and they're getting
ready to go back to school. This is their last weekend,
and it's different to look it back to school as
a parent's perspective compared to a student's perspective, and also
a teacher. So if you're a teacher and you're getting
ready to head back, call us up. Let us know
what's new about this year that you're looking forward to,
(08:32):
or students' families, you know what is it. Because we're
going to have that conversation coming up later in what
matters the stress of going back to school where doctor
Cohen has suggestions because a lot of times those backpacks
get really heavy and they can do a lot of
wear and tear on your body, on your sons and
daughter's body. All this stuff coming up, we're going to
take a break. When we come back, though, we are
(08:53):
going to dive into And if you have a suggestion
of where this old statue of Christopher Columbus should go
back up, or do you think it should stay away
and not come back up, let us know. We want
to hear your opinion as well. Six one four, eight
two one nine eight eighty six six one four eight
two one nine eight eight six. If you remember, I
(09:16):
believe the Christopher Columbus statute went away after the George
Floyd riots back in twenty twenty, and a lot of
the cities across the country were getting rid of controversial statues,
and they did that in Columbus. They got rid of
Christopher Columbus for one reason or another. But now there
is an effort to bring it back. The question is, folks,
where do you want it back? And where would you
(09:38):
put Christopher Columbus? Let us know at sixty one four
eight two one nine, eight eighty six. And if you
are a lake lifer, and if you had advice for
Randy and me, by all means, take the time to
call us up to and let us know some words
of wisdom from some generational lake lifers. All right, we
(09:59):
are back in a moment. You're listening to six' TEN,
wtvn you're listening To Raw Always protected by The. Undefeated,
Tattletale we're back in a. Moment
