Speaker 1 (00:00):
But Boots, Boots is gone.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
No Boots here, no Boots.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
But you could be Boots if you want to be.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I don't want to be. No, I don't want to
be Boots. You notice already I've given you, I've let
you have a word in edgewise, and we know that
Boots isn't here.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Isn't that something?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah? Call me moccasins. You can call me moccasins.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Robert Boots Cooperman is filling in four Boots today. I
cannot wait for you to talk to my friend Randy.
Randy's on the line right now. I've known Randy for years.
He's an umpire at Hoff Park in Westerville, where we've
played softball, slow pitch, you know, families play, guys play
co ed plays and it's just everything. And he's such
(00:36):
a good human diagnosed with cancer and right now he
is traveling the countryside. Randy, you're on the line with
us right now.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Right Hey there, how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Mandy?
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I'm good. I want you to meet Robert, he's filling
in for Boots today and all of our listeners who
really can't wait to hear your story. First of all,
where are you exactly right now?
Speaker 3 (00:57):
I am back in Columbus while.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Oh, well that's boring. I thought you were going to
say sorry so much for that interview, goodbye. No, Randy,
tell everybody where you've been traveling to and what state
number you're on.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Well, we just.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
From uh Out.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
We went to Denver, went through Glenwick.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
You know what, Randy, hold on for one second. I hate,
I hate to interrupt you.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Job.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
We have a really bad feedback. Oh I can't even
we can't hear him.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's some much like cutting in and out a little
bit from my what I'm hearing.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Okay, it's not your end. It's not your end, Randy,
it's something back at our station.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
It's not you, it's me exactly how much I've heard that.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
So we're trying to figure this out because we want
to talk to you and hear your interview. We're gonna
try something else. Can we try it again, Chris? Yes,
Randy talk count to ten?
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Do you know?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Can you do that for us?
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Okay? What we did was we planned a trip to
for state.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
We started in Colorado. We went to Red Rocks Amphitheater incredible,
and we went out to Utah Moobs Canyon Lands. And
did horse part and we went down to the Forest
Gump site in Monument Valley, and then we came up
(02:33):
to Mae Severdi where they have what's called the Cliff Palace.
It is absolutely phenomenal Native American habitats from a few
hundred years ago. And then we came back up north
in Colorado across the Continental Divide and we stopped at
a place called Royal Gorge.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Well, really, you've been sending me all these pictures and
your vacation. It looks outstanding, But the whole idea is
you're trying to visit every single state in the nation,
right right?
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Correct?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
And what do you want?
Speaker 3 (03:08):
I'm on forty sixth.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Wow, that's Have you been to New York? Yes?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
I have.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Now are you talking the city or have you been
upstate New York? I'm from New York City.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
We actually we took a scary ride around Manhattan, right,
and we went to Cooperstown and Niagara. O.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Wonderful, wonderful. It's a very big, beautiful state. So I'm
glad you got to see something other than Manhattan.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Absolutely, So what's your whole reasoning behind this? Because you
were diagnosed with cancer?
Speaker 3 (03:39):
What year? Correct? I started before my diagnosis, but I
had a lady at work that ordered an extra poster
of the United States for her son, and she had
an extra win and gave it to me, and I
looked at it and said, I've got to hit more
states and that started everything.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
That's fabulous. Did you have you been to the non
continental states? Uh? Hawaii? I mean and Alaska?
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Why you've been to Why only Alaska's on my list?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
That's beautiful. Yeah, you'll love that too. What remains on
your list? So it's Alaska?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Who, Iowa, Minnesota, and of course Alaska.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Right.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
What's been your favorite state so far other than New York?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Oh? Wow, Oregon, Maine. I really liked Utah and Colorado,
but Ma and Oregon are must be for everybody.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
So you started this before you diagnosis, but then you
were diagnosed with cancer and you thought, you know what,
I'm going to do this more now than ever. You're
going to complete this list because it was a bucket
list of yours. What's your message to anyone listening who
maybe is diagnosed with cancer or going through a tough time,
and you know what, live for the moment.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Uh, that's a good question. I think it's a beautiful country,
and I think that people need to get out and
appreciate it. The people we stop at every visitor center
and the people were incredible, they were nice and super
and I'd like to do it before I would get
(05:24):
too old to not be able to do it.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Right, right, all right, all right, Randy. I just thought
it was a neat story. I wanted to share it
with our listeners. And how is your cancer fight going?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
The people at Always You James are incredible. They were
fantastic and right now for one month's cancer free?
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Oh right, right, wonderful.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
So then you can keep on after you visit all
the states, you can go through and visit all the cities.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
It's just correct your full time job.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Right, Randy, thanks for joining us. You're an inspiration for
so many people. You got to live for the moment.
If you have that list on your bucket to do, do.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
It all right? Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Oh you're welcome, Randy.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
What's your bucket list?
Speaker 2 (06:07):
My bucket list? I want to go to Hoboken, New
Jersey and see what's there. No, I don't know what's
my bucket list. Probably to own my own theater. So
I don't have to be subject to people telling me
when I can perform my shows.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Would you kind of own your theater company?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I have a company, but I don't have the theater.
They've been very very good to me at the Abbey
Theater of Dublin. I'm not going to complain about that.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Sounds like you're complaining that.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Doesn't it. But I would like a little more freedom
to put on shows whenever I want in my own theater.
That's a bucket list of mine.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
I've never really thought about a bucket list, Chris, have
you like, is there anything on your bucket list that.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
You have come on advance?
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Befoll you're a co host.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
You're the host. Where's your bucket list?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
That's I don't know. I don't know if I really have. Yeah,
I guess eventually in life, I would like to see Hawaii.
I've always wanted to see Hawaii. I've never been twice.
You have been there twice, Randy. I don't know if
he'd go with me, because is the flight over is
how many hours?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Oh? What is it? Ten? Or something like that. But
you know what you do. You stop in California, first,
spend a couple of days in California, you get used
to the time change, and then you take the flight
over to it's not long to California. From California to
Why Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I'd say that's the only thing I can think of
that's on my bucket list. Chris, do you have one
on a bucket list or do you have an actual
bucket or list?
Speaker 4 (07:23):
I have a bucket.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Okay, nice rubber made, I saw it.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
But in terms of I mean definitely going to Europe,
especially Italy to see where my grandparents came from. That's one,
and then I don't know, got as many states as possible.
I mean that I want to go to, but Europe's
a big one in Australia.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Australia's on my list too.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
One of my really good friends, her name's Heidi her
Son played baseball with my son. They were grown up
together and they came up with an idea they were
going to visit and they did every single MLB stadium
in the United States America. Now they're on NFL stadiums. Wow,
a lot of time on your hands.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, really, that's fun though, that is.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
It is fun. That's cool. And they would take pictures
of every single stadium and then their whole basement is
mounted with all of these different pictures of.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
The stadiums that they have just visited.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Some people are really creative with their lives, like they're
like they we're going to do this, and then you
know what, they stick to it. Like other people. They
have a great idea, great intentions, and they start well
and then they just fade out.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Hey that describes me.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Thank you, thank you for bringing me up great intentions.
All right, we'll be right back or you're listening to
all on six' TEN WU tv And Always protected By.
