Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back, Thank you, sir.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome back everybody. This is Lad Dillgard on from the
YouTube Stand and Speak show on Raw with Mindy and Boots.
Got a little bit of sad news on this Sunday,
beautiful Sunday afternoon. The Ohio State women's softball team lost
five to nothing in Game one against Tennessee, ending their season.
That's the end of the regionals. Tennessee moves on to
(00:26):
the Super Regionals. But when to congratulate the softball team.
I think their record was about forty six and fourteen
or something like that. They led the country in run
scored and in home runs and in awesome attitudes. And
I know they're going to be sad to see the
season come to an end, but what a great season
(00:47):
they had. So we have Zach Duffy from Mold Mentor Solutions,
a sponsor, on the phone with us. How are you
doing today, Zach do.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
A great lad. Thank you for having me on.

and I chose family over co hosting. Man, We've got
a busy weekend in busy busy tomorrow was a board
meeting coming up, so spending most of my day outside relaxing,
playing with my kids.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Well, well, Rick is uh, he's showing his dexterity here,
he's handling, he's taking holding down both seats for you.
So I love that. Thank you, Rick, Yes, no, no problem.
So so so. Zach is the uh, the owner of

these guys a call or visit their website. Zach, you
want to give a little a little bit of an
overview of your company, how to get a hold of
you and what you do you.

We're now a team of six experts. And if it

us and you can also read about everything that we do.
The mold mentor Ohio dot com is the preferred way
(02:46):
to reach us.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
All right, do you have any tell you what you
have any good stories for us lately? I know you
told us the Ohio State story earlier, but you have
any Rick and I were just talking off air about
some interesting stories you run into in the small business
world of customers or people. Do you have any good
ones lately that you can share with us or are
they all kind of got to keep it under wraps.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
No, don't have to keep it under wraps. Of course,
wouldn't want to embarrass anyone. You know, people often will
not I shouldn't say often, but on a regular basis,
I'll have somebody ask sort of the last question after
we're about to go off the phone, is your work
fan you are your vehicles wrapped? No? They're not wraps
in Okay, okay, good. Yeah. So it's kind of like
(03:34):
I try and imagine if a van pulled up to
help me and it said bedbugs are us? You know,
like the neighbors would be probably coming out of the
driveway wondering, you know, if they should stay away. So yeah,
we go unmarked just for privacy purposes. It shouldn't be embarrassing.
Molds is part of our world and we don't want
(03:56):
it growing in our homes. And and so if I'm
going to offer up a story, I think we're interestingly
working on it. A couple projects and Hilliard and a
Hilliard community right now where in the nineties, these homes
were built by the same builder with stucco exteriors, and
(04:16):
it seems that they the contractors, they have skipped a
step in the application of the stucco systems. And it
started with one house and we found that the stucco
has been allowing moisture to permeate into the wall sheeting
since since it was built. And so when we cut
up in the drywall and look at the wall sheeting
(04:36):
behind the insulation, it's rotted out and there's mold growths
up and down the studs. And in a neighbor caught
wind that what we were investigating there and had us
come do some mold testing at their houses. We're surprised
with what we found in that house. So now they're
(04:57):
wondering if it's sort of a systemic issu you of
the community. That's that's what's interesting in my world. As
the last i'd say three to four weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So a couple questions for you, Zach, just to clarify
your Your vehicles are unmarked, So it's not because people
think that the mold will jump from your vehicles into
their house. It's more that they don't want to be,
you know, identified from the neighbors of having a mold issue.
Is that correct?
Speaker 1 (05:28):
That's correct.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
You know, if we had a generic more of a
neutralized name that maybe used the word restoration or something
like that, it probably wouldn't be an issue. But you know,
people tend to be embarrassed sometimes not all people, but
if if they find they have mold in their home,
it can be a touchy subject. So I once that, yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Go ahead, I have I have a scenario to run
by you. So let's let's say a very diligent and
caring son in law was visiting his mother in law
on Mother's Day and her her hose bib spickett and
her garage wasn't working. So this this very diligent, well
dressed son in law unscrews a panel and in the
(06:14):
garage to try to look behind it for a shut
off valve because he couldn't find one in the in
the basement and doing in doing so, the the hose
bib breaks off in its entirety and a waterfall ensues
in my mother. I'm sorry, the h this mother in
law's basement, and you know, it saturates a carpets area
(06:38):
of about ten by ten And of course this excellent
southern son in law and his wife and son all
clean it up and get it real dry. We pull
carpet back, fans, dehumidifier and everything. So is the plumber
that came over to cap off this, uh, this dutiful
son in law's pipe that he broke. He was referring
(07:00):
her to serve pro some other large basement restoration companies,
you know, to make sure there wasn't a problem and
that that's a pretty expensive fix. But what what should
this wonderful mother in law think about in terms of
a mold situation in our basement?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
So when when water is introduced into a home like
the whether it's known or unknown, whether it's condensation, relative
humidity spikes really high or flood like this, mold is
typically going to take about forty eight hours to start growing.
Now that doesn't mean you you'll necessarily see it or
(07:39):
smell it in forty eight hours, but but it can be.
It can be detected through air quality testing or sampling,
which we do so. But after about a week or
two is when mold becomes visible and and you can
sometimes smell it after about you know, two to three weeks.
(08:01):
So as long as the dry out happened within the
first you know, got started within the first couple of days,
and the dry out was dry logged, meaning they monitor
the drying process through the use of instruments such as
moisture meters to show that the you know, moisture dry
(08:21):
wall came down to let's say, seventy percent on the
third day, and then on the fourth day it was
that forty percent and then ultimately we want to see
that below twenty percent and it's dry. So if they
dry logged the process, it shows that they they did
a rapid dry out, a structural dry out, and that
means that mode probably didn't grow in any traceable amounts.
(08:42):
But if there were, if there were any areas that
were not detected on the initial inspection, and therefore they
did not those areas did not get the dry out treatment,
then there may be some old growing back there for
weeks to come and people may not even know about it.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
So the point is to make sure that all areas
are dried out, every area that could have been touched
by the water is fully dry, and then look for
or think about if you smell any kind of mold
or mildew type of smell, and if you suspect that
something may have gotten saturated but not addressed within the
(09:23):
first forty eight hours, then you would call a professional
like yourself to come in and check around to make
sure that it's not there.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
That's right. We can confirm and rule out a mold
contamination and your home or building. And we also use
thermal cameras. Okay, so thermal cameras take the guesswork out
when things are wet. You know, when things are wet,
the temperature drops due to evaporation, and so we see
(09:54):
that on a thermal camera, and so we can I
can see the pattern of water all over the carpet
and follow that line. Whereas if people are just going
and squishing their feet through if they try and guess
where what's wet, and they may they may not realize
that water came up in another area across the opposite
side of the basement. So we do thermal imaging to
confirm and find the initial what areas. And then also
(10:17):
if in the situation you're you're describing, lad people can
always follow up with a mold test, got it after
this has been done, just to confirm rule out any
level of mold contamination.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Thank you, Zach. So we're coming up on a break now.
We appreciate you calling in, Zach, and and we will
we will take that. We have thirty seconds.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
