Speaker 1 (00:00):
It feels like I was just in the studio for
an hour today because I only was in the studio
for an hour today, but it was the best hour
because it was with you, Joe.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Always have a blast time.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Yeah, what are you gonna do for Christmas? What are
your big plans? Being like, you know, one of the
most eligible bachelors in Central Ohio and a single. What
does the single most eligible bachelor do on Christmas?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Just spend some time with family, So it's pretty full time.
And uh, you know, going to f Forida here I
think the week after Christmas? Oh yeah, what part be
in Orlando?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Is it for business?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
For a conference, but I'm gonna extend it. But anytime
I get a chance to go down to Florida in
the winter, it's always enjoyable.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You said something really cool about the poor victim cat.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I'm going to use that. I wish I had known
that thirty years ago in the totality. But when you're
when you go these seminars, are you really open minded?
Is or it sometime it feels redundant? Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, I know it's you've got to be very on guard. Okay,
you know, because like for us like, we don't want
to chase shiny objects, is what we say.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
We know what works, but there is.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You got to be open minded enough to learn what's
out there. But yeah, you got to watch like because
a lot of times someone will tell you what to
do and they're not successful. So, like, the best advice
my dad always has always given me is, you know,
just do what you've done to get to this point,
because that's what works. Right. Don't listen all these people
that haven't done it yet to tell you that you
need to do it this way. Well, if that's what

(01:18):
I need to do, then why don't.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Why did you do it? It's funny you say that,
because in any retail anything that you're dealing with the public,
they bring their experts or consultants. Yeah, and you're like, well,
are you a millionaire or do you own this? Well no,
but I read okay, go away. I had a hard
time with that over the years.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Because especially in the car business.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I'm sure you heard there are all the way guys
coming from the West Coast have been there, done it,
and you know no, so.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
We are almost out of time. If someone's been listening
to you and they've seen your commercials, and they've heard
of peak retirement planning and Joe Schmit's because you are everywhere.
You do believe in the power of marketing and it's
paid off for you.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah, it's been incredible, but I really have.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
So someone wants to work with you in twenty twenty six,
where is the place they can go and find more information?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, so I would suggest they go to our website.
We have a place to schedule a fifteen minute call. Now,
I would recommend that they put these found us from
radio because obviously we get a lot of people that
reach out and so we always try to prioritize those
here locally. That's a good idea here in the local area,
so they can do that. There's some other questions. There's
also some frequently asked questions there for people to get
to know us more, because we want them to have

(02:23):
a good feel that this is what they're looking for.
But you said, Mandy that you know we're the best
financial planning firm in the area, and I would definitely
second that. And I know that's biased.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
But I can only personally see what you've done with
our family and how our money and finances have grown
so real quickly. What is the website though.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yeah, Peak Retirement Planning dot com is where they can
find us. And then you know, they can request one
of the books we talked about, my new one that
just came out, we talked about, or schedule a time.
So whatever they're looking for, we're here to help and
hopefully can be a resource for So.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Merry Christmas. It's always good. See see a lot in
next year.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Christmas. To your mom and dad too. Your mom's an
awesome lady. Yeah, I said your mom and dad, but
I deal with his mom directly, and I love your mother.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Treat your family like friends and.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Your friends like family. Rob Minian Boots on news radio

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
