Speaker 1 (00:06):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Fight fans that you miss us, We're back another episode
of Ring Champs.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I'll go to the Navy back and I'm Barock to
boxing bully. Thank you for joining us. It's been to Ross's.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Barack and I really sat down in a comfortable space.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
We're here at Diamont's.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I was student in New York City and we're gonna
talk some boxing. So much to talk about, Barack.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I feel good.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
It's been a while, absolutely, and it's just amazing being
part of the All the Smoke brand, you know, all
the Smoke production, all the Smoke Fight. You know, it's
good to have a good, big team behind you that
has the same goal, you know, the same goal in
mind and the same love for the sports.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
So I'm loving it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
And look, believe it or not, people have seen Barack
and out together for so many years, but outside of
this boxing space, we've never seen each other.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
We don't really hang out outside of work. Smart man,
so I'm smart only when we're talking boxing and Barack.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Look, I'm also excited to be a part of the
All the Smoke family, all the Smoke Fight families. For
those that are joined us for the first time, We
did do the first episode with Jake Paul and the
kisab Darien as our guest. That's out now on the
YouTube platform, so make sure you go check that out.
The last Crescendo, that is what we're gonna address heavily.
(01:20):
We'll talk about a lot of stuff today, but Brock,
there was so much said about this being the biggest
card ever given to the fight fans on paper. Now,
maybe a lot of these fighters weren't household names so
to speak, right, super megastars, But when you start going
down the line, when you started going down the line
(01:41):
and looking at the matchups and the championship fights on
the same card, I couldn't argue with you know what
people were putting out in terms of it being the
best fight on paper.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
On fight night, I was.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Hopeful and optimistic about it being entertaining. It exceeded my
expectation on an insane level.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I'm gonna tell you right now.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
So many people have their opinions, you know, so many
people saying negative things, Oh, this is not the greatest
fight card ever, but you can't name one first. But
all I can say is that ninety nine percent of
the time, if you're throwing a fight party in your house.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
What time people come?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Do they come at seven o'clock or do they come
at like eleven o'clock, ten o'clock, because they really only
want to see the main event. This is the only
fight card in many years, maybe since the Don King years,
that people were actually sitting down on a couch from
the very first fight.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
You know, when you.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Watching Bwatzi and Callum Smith, like these are you got
six champions on on a card, six formal or current
champions on the card, and six different promoters.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
That's never made, They've never been done.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
And look, yes we have to give credit where his
due is. Actullently he turned me out of the sheet.
This is what he wanted to bring to the sport
and he's delivering it at a rapid speed.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Now you talk about Cam Smith and Joshua Bowatzi.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
When that fight finished, I said, how are they gonna
top this with these next five to six fights? I mean,
this was an entertaining fight from beginning to.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
End, even with fights falling out, even with Scofield falling
out of now, of course we wanted to see Chicor
versus Scholfield.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
You know, we didn't want to see the Padley guy.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
He was a ranked guy, but when people don't know him,
they're like, oh, look when he's fighting.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
But but but this is what I love about this scenario, right,
And I'm going to get into some heavy stuff when
it comes to Shaquar Stevens and because I am very
disappointed in you fickle fight fans out there, But the
Padley situation, when they dropped the story about Turkey giving
him a new home and the biggest payday of his career,
it kind of makes you fall in love with the
story a little bit more and happy that the guy's
(03:45):
getting an opportunity. We won't get into the Scholfield stuff.
We don't know why. Hopeful hopefully health wise he's great.
But the story was that he's an electrician because he
was at work when he got the call.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I guess he works in some sort of construction.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
So out of like the criticism that Chicalle Stevenson has
gotten after that fight, especially doing the fight on Twitter
on Instagram, why hasn't he got this electrician out of
there yet?
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Now?
Speaker 2 (04:13):
I don't know what you guys expect from this young kid.
He is levels above Padley. You're complaining that Chicour never
stops anybody. He put an onslaught on him from the
beginning till that fight ended.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
The body attack was vicious.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
He stops the guy you've been complaining about him not
stopping anybody. He dominates and does what he's supposed to do.
And now you're not happy with the stoppage. You say
it took too long for him to get an electrician
out of there. Keep in mindus is an undefeated fighter
coming off a win because he has a second job.
Don't take anything away from him as being a professional fighter.
(04:49):
He beat an undefeated professional fighter and he stopped him.
Is what you was asking for, what all of you
were asking for. He did it, and now you have
a problem with how long it took.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
That's why we need people like ourselves in the sport.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
You know, people who really know the sport, because first
of all, most boxers have jobs, you know, outside of
the sport, because you're not this is not paying. Basically,
I wouldn't say ninety nine I would say ninety nine
percent of the female fighters have jobs, and they're champions
and they still have jobs. So we can't judge a
man according to that. He hasn't made enough money to
(05:23):
quit his job. Now, mind you Joe Smith Jr. If
you remember, he was a light heavyweight champ still with
a job. So it's you have a life outside of boxing.
You can do other things, you understand. So that's that
was a ridiculous claim. And first of all, what do
you want or a dude? You don't even know if
the guy can be knocked out in the first round.
(05:43):
Did we hate Proanell Whittaker because he wasn't knocking everybody out?
That's what happens with casual fans when when there's a narrative,
when there's a narrative that's being made, now all of
a sudden, everybody want to make a meme sleeping watching
cho court. Meanwhile, in the third round, he drops him
with a body shot, drops some four times in the fight,
and stops him.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Why are you sleeping through that? You stupid? If you
sleeping through that, that's ridiculous. So that part I don't like.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
It was a phenomenal performance from defense to offense. And yes,
he was level as a buff Padley and he showed that.
And the fight ended with the corner stopping the fight,
so it was an official stopper. So I'm looking forward
to seeing Stregord again. One of the best fighters in
the sport, no question about it.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
We talked about it being one of the biggest cards ever,
in my opinion, had lived up to the hype before
a moment. People were worried because of the two fights
that fell apart. Now not only Schofield but also Joseph
Parker in a championship ever with fight against Daniel Dubois. Now,
let's be honest, we were all a little nervous about
(06:45):
the card at that point. But when Martin McCauley's name
was brought up and that was put on social media,
the excitement almost grew more so because of what he
his performance against Jared Anderson, and people were claiming this guy.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
It definitely grew. You're right.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
First of all, when Schofield fell out, it was bad
to us, to the fans that really really noticed that fight,
But most people don't know Scorefield anyway, right, you know, so,
But when it comes to Dubois fight, that was a
championship fight, So I felt bad as soon as Bacoli's
name got thrown in the mist about dubi Okay, yeah,
all right, shot shout out the Parker to fighting somebody
(07:26):
is dangerous.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
And credit to his excellency because he said that, he
said the card just got better, and not in those words,
but I'm paraphrasing. He really felt like, not only did
we saved, the card might even be better. And that's
no shot at Daniel Dubois. But there's something about the
aura of Martin Bacoli and as of late, obviously you know,
a lot of folks didn't know about him, you know,
(07:48):
before the last real season called in Los Angeles, so uh,
and credit to him. He had he had a great
performance against Jared Anderson. So at that point then we
all forgot that the almost fell apart, well, two of
the fights almost fell apart because we wanted things you
should core fight and he's still fighting. He's still on
the card, right and then we got Bacoli in there.
(08:08):
So the fight, the card lived up to the hype
and beyond. Right now, there's some things that we need
to address, Barack, and I want to I want to
get into this right now.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
It's a new segment on our show called Pump Your Breaks.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
This is when you casual fans and maybe some of
you hardcore fans.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Say something a little too soon, and Barack, I'm gonna
let you set it off for this one, all right.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Pump your breaks is a segment because sometimes you gotta
slow down. You gotta slow down. You're a little bit
too fast when you When you're throwing names out there,
and one of the names is synonymous with certain fighters,
it's called the Boogieyman. We've heard this way back during
the We've heard it from years, but I want to
bring up the Triple G days.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
You know, we heard it since way back then. Triple
G was the Boogeyman. But he was kind of a boogeyman, right,
but it was.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Granted, it was okay, but even him when he stepped
up level of competition, there was no more knockouts, you know,
because Daniel Jacobs that shit, you're knocking nobody out. But
still he was kind of like the Boogeyman. But what
people don't remember is that boogieman. Really, I know, you
guys don't remember this, the guy that you say you
fall asleep on. There was Steve Kim wrote about calling
(09:22):
him the Boogeyman, and that's Shaquart Stevenson. You know why,
because a real boogeyman is the guy that's going to
beat everybody, the guy that is hard to beat, not
the guy that's knocking everybody out, especially be because look,
we called Mattias a boogeyman. Leo Parroll stopped that, and
we just called Bacoli a boogeyman after one fight.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
After don't I don't get it, folks, after.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
One fight, like, granted, great performance, but one fight you
get the title boogieman.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
And now that just collapsed two days. Notice step some
of you gotta get your break paths, put on your
car and ran down. You have to be able to
pump your brakes, especially after one performance. We're not saying
that Mark Beacauley isn't an exciting heavyweight and he could possibly.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Go on and to win some big fight. He had
a training game might have been different.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Now, look, a lot of people are talking about the
fact that he came off the couch, he was weighing
over three hundred pounds, he signed a contract, he's a heavyweight.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I don't want I don't want.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
To take any credit away from Joseph Parker's big Now
we can't ignore that though, we can't ignore it, but
Joseph Parker won the fight. There were some people saying
that he would lose, even even after Beacaulay was noticed.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
You know, Today's just came off a flight, right, probably
was tired. Big win for.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Joseph Parker, and yes, maybe he would have been better
with a real training camp. Still, in all, people have
to pump their breaks before deeming a guy a boogeyman,
you know, a guy that somebody people are avoiding. All
of that sort of jazz needs to be held a
little bit. So this's pumpy breaks. But hopefully Becauley comes
back at some point and we see him there again.
(11:00):
But I do want Joseph Parker to get his title
shot against Daniel Dubois.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
He's deserving.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
He's coming off of beating Deontay Wilder, Jean and now Bakoli,
two big, big punchers in a row.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Dude came in twenty pounds heavier and knocked out the boogeyman.
That's right, So credit to him.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Now, as far as the main event, Barack, and not
that I mean, we're not going to address every single
fight on the car.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
They were all phenomenal fights.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I enjoyed all on the beginning to end, all right,
But let's talk about one particular before we get to
the main event. Let's talk about one particular moment throughout
that broadcast. Right in Shoutau, I got Brian Campbell from
Morning Combat, who also.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Treeted about this.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
His excellency Turkey Ali Chkh going over to the corner
and letting them know that he was down on the
unofficial scorecard.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
See that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
He didn't necessarily say the unofficial scorecards, so people don't know.
So fans are just watching and they're like, oh, this
looks like some sisty thing right here, Like he got
a hold of the scorecards and he's saying, oh, you're
down two points. No, this happens in boxing. It probably
was the unofficial scorecard. That was Chris Mannis, you know,
which you can't go by it now. Sometimes his scorecards
(12:13):
are good. He had one bad to We make fun
of it, you know, we made fun of his scorecards.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yes, just to give you context.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Chris Mannicks had at one point had Billy Joe Sanders
beating Canelo Oz during that stopper is and we busted
shops for that.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Sim But he's a good judge. He's a good judge.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
It was the unofficial scorecards, which actually means nothing, you
know what I mean to what's going on in the fight.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
And so every fighter does that.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Every corner has somebody that's in the crowd that might
come up to Floyd. Did that Jonathay Davis, you know,
and he said, Yo, I'm just trying to tell you
the unofficial scorecard has you down, why so you can
pick it up. Also against Sean, I think it was
your call on the outside. I don't know who it
was he he won't tell me, but but I think
it was your court. I was saying, yo, you down.
(13:02):
You down on an unofficial score card. Nobody's reading the cards,
so you're down on it. He went in in and
he stopped Sewan Porter, so there's nothing wrong with that.
And then basically boxing, a lot of organizations have and
I think the WBC wants this and other organizations want
this open scoring right where the fighters would know between
certain rounds, like between third and sixth round what the
(13:22):
score is. Now.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I don't love that concept, and I understand why people
would want it. Nevertheless, stop throwing shots at his excellency.
You don't know what he was talking about at all.
Let's get into the main event, the rematch to Meet
You revol Versus author deturbieus rock highly anticipated rematch, especially
for hardcore fight fans. It exceeded expectations. In my opinion,
(13:44):
I thought it was better than the first fight. Now
maybe because Pavol he performed better. Yes, a lot of
people are saying that the meet not to Meet You
story authur Berturbeev towards the end of that fight not
so much faded, but wasn't as aggressive as he was
in the first fight.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
That's a fad, right, No, no, no, not necessarily the
first fight, as he was in the earlier rounds.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Also in the first fight towards the end of the fight,
who cares about it?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Nobody cares about that.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
But I feel like every time somebody brings up the losers,
I guess attributes in that fight, it's always taken not attributes.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
His deficiency is always taking away from the winner.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
So when you're talking about you're taking away the fact
that Bevall was a better fighter that night and towards
the end of that fight.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
What's better?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Why are we blaming it on Arthur Baterbeev and what
he wasn't able to do, Because in other words, you're saying,
if Arthur was as he was during the first fight.
I mean the first part of the fight. Then Bevore
wouldn't have won.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I don't know if anybody's saying that, who cares, Like,
first of all, we're not thinking about the first fight.
We're thinking about you were looking really good. It looked
like you hurt Beval. He was backing them up in
the early rounds. You faded, And it's okay to say
he faded because he might have faded from getting punched.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
He might have been able to say punch. So who
gets kind of for that?
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Or if it's your stamina, So what fighters win because
the other fighter has a bad stamina or not as
good stamina, And it.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Doesn't matter why you win. That's part of the fight, right,
So it's not taken away from Beval's win. I mean,
this is the stuff I'm reading online.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
If Bevol, if beterbeev would have been as strong as
he was in the first part of that fight. I
don't know why he wasn't throwing punches. Maybe because he
didn't want to get countered right.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
And get to the target. It's so hard to get
to bevolved. It's like with Canelo, it's hard to get
to bevalved.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
What do he said? He said?
Speaker 3 (15:31):
After what he said, I'm light. I felt lighter like
that man. It's on his toes and not one two
one backing up. Back you up with that one afterwards, and.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
Forget about the fight fans and what Twitter is saying
and Instagram. Before one, there was no question about who
won that fight. The right man got the decision. He
was able to avenge his laws, reach his dream and
becoming undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world. Right now,
in theory, it would make sense for the trilogy to happen.
(16:01):
Right one guy won the first fight, the other guy
won the second fight, So you would think that it
makes sense for those of fight for a rubber master
for the.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Why are you even saying it like that? Hold?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
In theory, they had two good fights, right, they had
trilogies next and it seems like Turkey, his excellency mentioned
it fight number three.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
I beg to difference.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
I'm sorry, No, I care about the gentleman, the light
heavyweight that just came off a big win against David
Morou who's in the building Insadi Arabia for this fight.
He was in there for a reason he wanted to
win out of those two guys. Now, listen, Arthur Perterviev
is a Hall of Famer. He obviously and our arrows
(16:47):
one of the hardest punchers.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
In the sport. I thought those are two entertaining fights.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
But if you ask me, I care about Before versus Benavidez,
Arthur Berturviev is forty years old. Are you super excited
to see the rematch between those two guys or do
you want to see Before Before defend his undisputed crown
against the Mexican monsters.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Be honest, I don't like the question. I don't like
the question because you can't ask me what I'm super
excited about.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I'm more super excited about seeing maybe better be this
fight Canelo. You know what I'm saying, so right, So
it doesn't matter what I'm super excited about. It's about
what makes sense.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Although around of question, did I interrupt your supid money
right there? This freaking guy.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
So look, it's not about what I'm super excited about.
It's about Beval lost, even though I thought he won.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
The first fight. That's right, I thought he won the
first fight. So Bevall lost. He gave him a chance.
Better be Off gave him a chance.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
He didn't have to was probably on them and they
were both champions. That must have been Listen, listen. He
could have retired, you could retire better be If it's old.
Like you said, he didn't really want to fight the
second fight. He could have retired, but he gave him
another opportunity. He gave him another opportunity, just like Manny Pack.
Yeo gave Marquez one more shot. Marque has knocked him out.
(18:05):
Marquez ain't giving many Pack.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
He had another opportunity he left, so better bef gave
him an opportunity. Boom, Bevall wins this one. Now, it's
only right, hold on, let me finish. It's only your
face is interrupted. Your faces yo, it's only right for
better be If to know, for Bevall now to give
him the opportunity. So come on, you said, Befall, So
(18:28):
stop it now. It's only right to give better be
If another opportunity. When he gave you an opportunity, and
any other time we've seen two great fights, we always.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Was there a christ on the first fight with the decision.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Do you his opinion? That's hold, that's my opinion that
your opinion you feel before one, it's not an Asteridge.
I just thought he won. I could take to most.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
People that you've talked to about that fight, who do
they feel won the first fight?
Speaker 1 (18:59):
To meet your vote. Let's start. Let's stop Peter on
the bush, stop stop at anybody.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
We've had a conversations Graham talking about better be won
to fight the other day.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
So it don't matter what people, that's because you got
faith it was.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
It was a very it was a very close fight,
so it don't it wasn't very close the first fight,
but it was a clear victor.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
In my opinion, it was Bevold fight. If it's close,
it's not clear. Listen, if it's close. Point is that
most people you talk to.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
About that fight, they feel that Bevore won a first fight.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
I'm saying all that to say that in reality in
my opinion, not officially, but I feel Bevore won two
fights against Berturby Soda why Baturbia? It's forty years old.
It was a close fight fight fans, Let's be honest.
I know we had two amazing fights. But if you
could pick a fight to watch, would it be bevol
versus Baturbie?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Number three?
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Or vol versus David bene Vitez. Don't lie and you
know private that's what you rather watch, not my no,
kidd in. But that's not my premise. I rushed my
case talking to me of the camera. I'm talking to a.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Fight that's not that's not the premise. The premise is
when you've seen two great fights, they deserve a third fight.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
That's it. Especially the guy that just gave up his belts.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
They deserve. And then, wait, you can't even say who's better. Now,
you can't even say who's better. They both won, they
both won. I wait, they both won one fight Deontay
Wilder in fear we got their trilogy.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Come on, Trilogies don't always happen.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I'm not saying that Butteria doesn't deserve a shot and
the fight doesn't hasn't.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Warranted a third fight. I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I'm saying the fight that the people rather watch, and
it's against David benevite who.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Sounds like a casual because okay, I just want the
biggest fight, the matchup.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
But this in boxing, when you got two great fights,
you're gonna have a trilogy and that's it. Whatever, what
if we never got gotty and Ward Mickey Ward, what
if we never got.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Right we get into old time fights? Question? You scanned
the answer. What if we never got that? What if
that's not a question. What if we never got that?
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Give me a better question than that. What if we
were enough? If we've never got it, we've we never
got that fight. We've never seen it, we never watched
it boxing with it took a big blow. We needed,
We needed stuff like that. We need trilojeez, we need.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
You need a nemesis in order to become popular in
the sport. See how you just ignored that right because
he's scared he lost.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I want I wanted to see that he agreed with me.
He agreed with me.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
March first, in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, you
know where my mother lives. Close by, there's a town
called for Puerto Rico where a guy that many people
were also calling the boogeyman, Soubrio Matias is fighting in
his hometown of Puerto Rico against Gabriel Venezuela.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Now Brock. He was same night as Javonte Davison.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
That's right, Mars first in Puerto rican I want to
address this particular fighter because I feel that he was
called the Boogeyman because he was avoided. There were fighters
that didn't want to fight him, right, And you can't
just say that them hold on, hold on.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Not to mention all of his fights.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Were ending by knockout, and unfortunately even one ended in
death right where a fighter lost his life after going
to the hospital against Sabrill Matiirs.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
So there was a reason. There's an aura.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
There's a difference when a fighter ends another fighter's life
in a combat.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
So I feel like that.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I don't want to say there was a fear level,
but there was. There was just a question mark going
in the ring with a guy like that.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
I mean, same thing happened with Covidlet, but covid Lit
was really doing it the champions. But you know what
I mean, he was really doing it the Champions. So
I'm not trying to say that he wasn't dangerous or
wasn't looking good. I just say, you're giving him that
title too fast.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Maybe, but he's coming off of a loss against Leeam Powell, right,
and I didn't write him off after that loss. I
thought that fight was pretty close. I thought he's had
great moments in that fight, and I felt like, you
guys are writing this guy off because he lost the fight.
He's the first one to tell you I don't really
care about defense and boxing.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
I'm a fighter.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
I'm trying to rip your head off, right, this is
what you're gonna get for me every time I step
in that square circle.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
This is Mattia's talking.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I sat down one and he told me himself, I
fight because I need money, my family needs money, and
I'm going in to risk at all to take your
head off. So we got that in the parrel fight, right,
we got what he said. He's gonna deliver every time out.
That's the type of fighter that gives excited fights to
the fight fans. So I'm excited to see what he's
gonna do with Venezuela. I'm not counting him out the
(23:37):
one hundred and forty pounds division because I still think
he's a guy that most people rather not fight. Now,
we don't know the details about the author tier Femo
Lopez got, you know, received to fight him. I mean,
we know we know the number out there, but we
don't know the small details. So there's a reason they
didn't fight. He's still a guy that people rather not fight.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
I mean, nah, because if you're gonna bring up too
now you're kind of insinuating that te O didn't want
to fight.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Tho is calling out Ennis, of course, and even.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
I'm not saying I'm not saying that he didn't want
to fight it fight him, but it wasn't worth it
for him.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
I guess he didn't feel the numbers were right.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Maybe, Well that's that's a lot of that happens to
a lot of fighters and a lot of fights, you know,
So that has nothing to do with the boogeyman or
how good he is or whatever. But this fight is
gonna be good no matter what because Velleinzuela is gonna
bring it. They both kind of don't care about defense.
They both were swinging wild. I mean, Villas would have
lost to Montana Love and Williams of Peter. But that
Montana Love, he showed you he got he got popped, right.
(24:38):
He showed us in that in that fight that he
has some kind of pop. But I think that Matias,
when he fights a guy with this kind of style,
you know, Venezuela with his hands low, it's dangerous for
a god.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Like, very dangerous.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Expect a bloody night in the pert but AMA's first
obviously one of the biggest names in the sport. Javonte
Tank Davis fighting Lamont Roach in our hometown, Brooklyn, New
York at the Barclays Center.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
The hometown he's in Jersey. Where do you live right now?
All right?
Speaker 2 (25:12):
This guy's people that Yeah, he followed me to New Jersey.
All Right, you know what I'm saying. Please Barrock come yeah, Okay. Nevertheless,
we were both born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
In the Barclays Center. Javonte Davis versus Lamont Roach. But Barack,
before we get into that main event, I want there's
some picks out there. I love the co main event.
(25:32):
I think it's a very competitive fight. It will be
a competitive fight, very close. But I'm going to give
some Draftking picks out there because I.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Like these bets.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
I'm going with the minus one fifteen for Vealezuela and
Rio to out box Gary and Twine Brussell.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Like you said, it's a pick and fight, you know.
But Ryo just showed us something special against Pitt Bowl.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
So he showed us that he can walk forward against Colbert,
and he showed us that he can fight on the
back foot.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Now, when you fight on the back foot against a
pressure fire fighter.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
Like pit Bull who's NonStop pressure, that means you got stamina,
you got skill set.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
You got good ring iq, good footwork, it's gonna be
hard to be.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
I mean, that's a great hard to be. He's done
it on a high level.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Even though I like Ruck.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Now Russell catch him, fine, But I'm saying the same
thing with pit Bull. He's a hard puncher and he
to your point, he doesn't stop. So you feel like
if he was able to pass that test anything else,
unless it's on an elite, elite level, you would you
would bet on him passing it. So we're both agreeing
on his bet minus one fifteen.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
I would lean towards your bet. Now, Russell hits harder
than pit Bull, probably right, and if he catch him,
he can hurt all right.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Well, when it comes to bed, hard can't be if
you got to pick right now, A right, I'm going
with your bet.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
All right, We're going with that.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
But in the main event, obviously heavy favorite is Javonte
Davis over Lamont Roach. A lot of people overlooking Lamont Roach,
who's still a dangerous fighter and can fight. But I
want to get into some bets, right. I like picking rounds.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
I'm known to pick rounds, and yes, most of the
time I get them wrong. Oh good good man.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
But most of the time I'm always one round off.
So you know what I did today. Initially I wanted
to pick the sixth round right because on the butd fight,
I was a round off on a Canelo Sounders fight,
I was a round off on Canelo versus Billy Mayor
Con I was around off right. So guess what, I'm
(27:29):
gonna go with my instinct and pick the round before.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
I'm picking number five seven plus seven.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Round five Javonte wins by a knockout plus one thousand
plus one thousand.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
It means one hundred dollars will get you a.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Stack one thousand dollars should Javonte win in the fifth round.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Do you like that?
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Bet? I guess so.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
I'm not a better like you, so I would play
it a little more safe with the minus four hundred
Javonte Davis.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
So you you want to put up four hundred dollars
to one hundred, Yes, all right, how's he gonna.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Win a TKL? You know he's gonna stop him? You know,
I believe that's just a safer bet.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Now.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
I always say that you never know if a fight
is great until he has an opportunity to prove it.
But you also got to go by the track record,
and you know, him losing to Jamel Herring, I know
he's a better fighter.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Now, don't get me wrong. It is a sting, so
there's no way we could just say, oh, we know, Lama,
it's gonna win. That's obviously. I like the kid a
whole lot. I think he's a good fighter. Tankers showed
us that he's special. He showed us that he has
super power, so I believe he can actually knock anybody
out right. You know, I don't like that bet at all.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I mean, it's a safe bet, but I'm risking too
much money, four hundred dollars to win one.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
So if it's safe, how you risking? All right? My risk?
My fight?
Speaker 2 (28:46):
The risk is bigger, right because I'm picking one round.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
It's about a feeling.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
But guess what, one hundred bucks will win you one
thousand dollars, so it's worth the risk for me.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
I'm going with fifth round Javonte Davis by knockout for
a plus one thing.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Now outside of making money, Let's talk about trajectory, right,
Javonte Davis, he's been recently talking about not wanting to fight,
wanting to get out of that fighter's headspace.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Right.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
He wants to spend more time with his children, which
is understandable. Right in terms of what he's accomplished in
the sport. Is still he's the most one of the
most exciting fighters in the sport, one of the most
skilled fighters, the biggest face, the biggest, one of the
biggest draws. So he'll be doing a disservice to the
fans if he leaves the sport early and their talks
about his excellency Turkey Alla Sheik wanting to create a
(29:38):
fight Javonte Davis versus chakor Stevenson is a fight that
we've all wanted to see for a very long time.
And I don't care what anybody says about what you
call brings to the table. That's one of the best
matchups in all of boxing. Right, So does he put
those feelings to the side about not wanting to stay
(29:59):
in this fighter mentality and not caring about the belts
and making those big fights, because we know he's not
scared to fight anybody, right, he is a fighter's fighter.
But why haven't those those fights happened? And do you
think that Turkey, his excellency, is the answer to that
Because of the amount of money that can be brought
to the table.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
You would think that Turkey is the answer because he's
making all these other fights and he has so much money,
and usually everybody has a price that when it comes
to stuff like this, you know, but in the fights
are not happening because Javontay Davis don't want them to happen. Obviously,
he's in charge of his career.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
He's the man, he's the cash cow, He's the guy
that everybody wants to fight.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
And on one hand, I say, okay, Javonte can say,
I want to leave it all my faculties. I want
to leave it thirty years old, this is it. I
want to spend time with my family, go to school,
do all these things.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
And I made the money I want. I was only
in it for the money, So that's what I made.
Can you argue that. No, But as a fight fan, we.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Want to see you create a certain kind of legacy.
Maybe the legacy is good enough for him, So that's understandable,
but in my opinion as a fan, there's only three
other champions. It's it's Keishan Loma and Shakor Stevenson. I'd
like to see him fight champions in his weight class.
We don't have to fight the tos. Fine, don't fight
the to os, don't fight the one forty guys, the
(31:17):
devons or whatever, but fight the champions.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
In that division. And that's it. That's why I mean.
But he's still got time I like to do it.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent right in the fact that
he should be able to leave on his own terms, right,
but no intank and how competitive he has been inside
that ring. I don't completely believe that he doesn't want
to prove to the world that he's better than all
the other fighters.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
I do believe deep down he does.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
But he understands that money is this is prize fighting, right,
so he wants to create h you know, I guess
a comfortable future for his family and his and his kids.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Has he made enough money?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I don't know, because when it comes to al Hayman
and MBC, who knows how much. I never know the
purse that Javonte made. I know he's done well on
pay per view numbers. So maybe he's done very well.
Has he done good enough that it can compare to
what Turkey can I guess or for him, I doubt it,
(32:13):
But I'm just guessing.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
I doubt. I doubt.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
I doubt that Javonte has made the type of money
he can make with turkeyk his excellency in rial season
or the ring. A lot of those fights are gonna
be coined the ring. I don't see it. So if
you can, if it's about money, if it's about making
the most money for your future, and being.
Speaker 5 (32:35):
Able finally a good point, being able fight the guys
that people say you will have trouble with, right, And
I'm not gonna agree with you on just fight one
thirty five.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
No, we want to see the Ta female Lopez fight.
We want to I'm not I'm not talking about rehydration.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
I'm talking about we've seen tag fight at one against
Mario Barrio rehydration clause.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Look, he's for he's a small guy. Forget about the
technicalities for now.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
I'm not saying the best guys in the division, he
don't have to move fine, I'm just saying that we
would want to see him fight to your fee, Molpez
at least at one forty, That's all I'm saying. But yes,
I would settle for the champions at one thirty five.
But if it's about making the most money and you know.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
Kind of feeding that ego and that competitive spirit that
you have to beat those guys, because tankas said it
many times that he will beat and knock out Chaquee Stevenson, right,
he said he'll be any guy in that division, right,
So the opportunity is there now, I'm pretty sure to
make the most money he's ever.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
Made and fight those guys.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
So I do believe that he'll put that future thought
to the side, and I do believe that Javonte Davis
would eventually fight those big fights.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Right that we all want to see. But like I said,
he has the time. He has the time now, he
has this year. He said this is his last year.
If he sticks to that, he promised al Haman. If
he sticks to that, then we might see those fights.
I know Turkey is trying to make that fight with
of course Stevenson and Jamade Davis.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
So let's just give him time. That's it, all right,
So I'm gonna bet on that if there was some
odds on that.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
I'll bet that Javonte and scho course Stevenson will fight,
maybe not in twenty twenty five, but at least in.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Twenty twenty six, after the man retires. He's not gonna
retire this yet. Yeah, that's not true. Don't believe that.
I don't believe it.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
If there's odds on that, I bet that Javonte doesn't
retire in twenty twenty five, that's my take. Well, fight fans.
I won all the debates against Barack today, but.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
You guys, let the fans decide. How about that, you
guys be the judge of that.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
We got an exclusive sit down with your female Lopez.
A lot of tough questions, but he answered all of them.
That's dropping soon. Also, Barack and I, alongside Roy Jones
the Great, will be doing some live broadcast during the
attack Davis waging this weekend, so make sure you tap
in with us, and a lot more of this box
and talk boxing coverage, a lot of big interviews with
(34:58):
a lot of big names. He all right, chaps, Peace
of love, stay safety,
