Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's five o'clock on yours us day done. They say's
two sun roadrunners have me out from Fox Sports fourteen
fifty Am with Jonathan shit right, Kim Coderroblacks.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, we know the story, but you gotta tell the
viewers that starts. It's so funny.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
It's our usual Tuesday night get together.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
So I don't know. Maybe we should start implementing some
break dance pregames during the season and see how that goes.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Right here on Tucson Sports Day yet, Fox Sports fourteen
fifty Aya.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Fox Sports fourteen fifty Am, our usual Tuesday night get together.
Jonathan Schaeffer here with Kim Coderobas and right at the
top of the hour, the game winning goal scorer. Last Saturday,
the two games got two goals in the game and
the two on victory. Kyler Yamamoto, Kyler, how's it going man?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Being good? Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
It's great to have you on. Great win for the team.
It was a nice, nice job by the team to
get the big victory at the end of the road trip.
We had lost three games in a row, but won
it on a high note and you scored the game
winning goal. Two wins in a row in which you've
scored the game winning, And just how has it been
in your time here in Tucson so far? You're pretty
much one of the newer guys, but you've kind of

(01:08):
solidified yourself now you got to know the guys some more.
And just how's it all going for you?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Oh, it's been awesome. Yeah, like you said, the guys
are great. You know in the locker room, you know,
funny guys in there, you know, like to joke around
and everything like that. And then the area is the funniest.
Oh that's a good old Dougie and Greg. You're pretty funny. Okay, No,
you're good. They live together so they're pretty funny. But no,

(01:32):
the area has been awesome. I never really played in
a warm climb like this, I mean, I guess unless
I was. I played in California when I was fourteen fifteen,
But so back in the Sunshine, it feels nice, very
nice area over here.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, just what has the whole experience been for you? Like,
you know, you're with the Utah Hockey Club, played a
couple of games with them, you were placed on waivers
and then reassigned back to Tucson. What was it like
being on waivers and just not really knowing where you
were gonna end up at. And then now you're hearing
Tucson playing in the warm climbing with a couple of
great teammates or a lot of great teammates.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Rather, Yeah, it was, Uh, it was definitely interesting. First
time I've been put on waivers, So being in that position,
you know, not knowing if you're gonna get picked up
on another team or if you're gonna get sent down,
you know, very nerve wracking for that whole day. Obviously
didn't get picked up, got sent down, And yeah, but
I love I love being down here, you know, Like

(02:25):
I said, guys are great. You know, the hockey's really good. Yeah,
just having a good time down here.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
This actually wasn't gonna be my first question because I
have like all these questions that I want to ask you.
But since since we're on the topic, like your lifestyle
you guys, as I've learned so much more about your
guys' lifestyle in the last four years since I've started
doing this job. How do you Nobody that yeah, I
ever talked to in my day to day life will

(02:50):
ever know what it's like to be placed on waivers
and like, you know, kind of like the tumultuous, chaotic
existence that you guys kind of live. How do you
deal with that mentally, emotionally, physically, Like how do you
take care of yourself so that you're in a good
place as much as you possibly can be.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah, it's definitely tough, you know obviously, Like if I
got picked up, you know, my life changes just like that. Yeah,
I'm going to a different city, I'm moving, you know,
right out it. But you know, I got a very
very fortunate got an amazing fiance. You know, she takes
care of me every day, you know, cooks for me.
It does everything for me.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Not a lot of guys on this team have that. Yeah,
some guys don't know how to cook yet.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
No, but no, I love her, love her Julia. But
she definitely makes my life a lot easier.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Wait, what's her name?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Bailey?

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Bailey? Okay, awesome, that's yeah, maybe they should have I
feel like they should hand those out. But I feel
like in the military, hockey, like you find your people
very young because you need you need some stability, and
you need those people you know, at home for you.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Especially like in at least in my hookey right now,
not very stable. You know, don't know really where I'm
gonna be playing obviously in Tucson right now, trying to
make it back to Utah. But yeah, it's up like
an up and down battle. So for her to make
my life a little bit more stable, you know, it
means a lot.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Is she here right now? Is she able to be here?
Oh that's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
My two dogs?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Oh what kind of dogs do you have?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
So we have a German Shepherd who's four, and then
we had we just got another one, pit bull mutt oh,
who's like a year, year and a month.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Okay, definitely would want to see pictures at some point
here really soon. You grew up in Spokane, right, I
actually used to live in Washington State, but wait on
the other side of the state from from Spokane. But
tell me what the youth hockey scene was like, Like,
how did you how did you end up here? At
what point were You're like, Okay, this this might be
my thing that I'm I'm gonna do.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
You know, I didn't really play in Spokane too much
growing up. I guess I guess I played. I mean
I stepped on the ice when I was twenty two
months old. Well, yeah, brother beat me by two months.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Your brother's name. Yeah, that's so awesome.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
But I think I played up until seven. And then
you know, my dad's a true for when I was
eight to eleven, he traveled basically every weekend of Seattle
for a travel team.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Oh wow, yep, that's not close. Like smoking to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Is four hours, four hours there and back. So it
was tough. He traveled, He logged a lot of miles.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Obviously I was watching movies in the back or sleeping.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
But and then I went to LA for a year,
played on like a not really travel team, but I
would just travel the tournaments because it was obviously I couldn't
live by myself. When I was twelve, then thirteen, they.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Did that in Russia that we found out from Igor,
really that that's a thing in Russia that very young,
you just go and live with a bunch of other
twelve year old hockey players.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
That's not crazy, he's he's his journey to hockey has
been insane.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
That is crazy.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Yeah, So glad your dad didn't leave you alone.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
And then thirteen went to one NATCHI and then fourteen
fifteen ended up staying with the host family. Also the
first year. My brother was down there too, but played
in LA for those two years, and that was probably
one of the two of the most funniest years of
my life. Lived two blocks away from the beach, did
online school. I lived with my brother for a year.
They had billet kids, so it was pretty fun.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
That's awesome. That's so awesome. What does your brother do?
Because his name popped up when in your Wikipedia page,
your brother's name is there. What does he do?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Oh, he still plays hockey. He plays for the He
plays in Scotland for the Dundee Stars. Oh.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Man, it's so awesome. Holy cow. I want to I
really want to go overseas to like a non traditional
hockey market and like like the UK or somewhere like,
well there's I feel like the UK is like or
like Portugal or Spain or somewhere like that, and check
out a hockey game and see what it's like. Have
you been.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
I never been. My parents actually just went over there.
I think they're just getting back like today or tomorrow.
But they said their trip was awesome. They said the
trains over there, like obviously getting over there is very expensive,
but once you get over there, then everything kind of
it was a little bit more cheaper. Trains are very
cheap and like to travel from Sadu City. Yes, that
was awesome.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
It's amazing. So do you know any of the guys.
Have you been on the ice before or know them?
Any of the current roster, any past experience with them.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
I played Aggie a little bit and then Donor. I
met him at camp. Most of the guys. I'm trying
to think if I knew anybody before, but I think
I met everyone just at camp this year and then
kind of went from there.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Dylan Wells follows you on instag You and Dylan Wells.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I actually do you know Dylan Wells? Yes, So Dylan,
I want to say, was drafted with me or drafted
a year before me, but he was with Edmonton. Oh
so I got to meet my camp everything like that,
and then I played with him in Bakersfield. Okay, it
was just he's a great guy.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, he's fantastic. I don't want it. I don't want
anybody to leave this team, but I'd love to have
Dylan Wells back because he's just such a I feel
like he's just such a bright star. He is, yeah,
so sorry, Johnny, I have monopolis last no that conversation.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
No no, no good that this has been amazing, gush.
I don't know if I have any questions that tell
the man keep going, I'll come over the next one.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Are your parents able to come for Thanksgiving? Are you
and Bailey going to do something for Thanksgiving? I know
we have game. We have games literally up to the
point of Thanksgiving starting.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Honestly, I think I want to say I'm going over
to Canotton's. He sent a group He sent a group
message in the in our group and said, like every
he was inviting everyone over to his house for Thanksgiving
and everything. So I think That's what I'm planning on doing.
Unless something drastically changes, I think that's what I'll be doing.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I was curious, so I looked at my notes from
last season, and in my Curtis Douglas notes, he had
a hit of a week against Kevin Connotton last season.
Does any of that stuff ever come up in the
locker room? Like Kevin's been in the you know, in
the league for a minute and and so game, he
really throws down some hard hits. So I was curious

(08:45):
if that.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Ever might every once in a while, but I mean
once your past year kind of passed it, maybe unless
something really bothers you, you got to get it off
your chest. But no, I think hockey is a hard,
physical game. You know, things like that are gonna happen.
So I think you just gotta go past it once
it's passed.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Yeah, for sure. Super random question. Who is your road roommate?
And if he was a dog, what kind of dog
would he be?

Speaker 3 (09:13):
And then I'll tell you if I think you're right
here we go. My roommate is Robbie Russo.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
Oh okay, Oh so Robbie's somewhat new to us.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Yeah, dog, I don't know you like like a golden Retriever.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Super nice Yeah, super nice guy, so super golden Retriever energy. Okay,
I appreciate that. Do you know Robbie well enough to
say whether you can see it or not?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah? You know, with me and Robbie, at first, I
think it was like just more professional. But now that
I've got to go on the road trip with a
couple of guys and got to know the guys a
bit more, like now he says hi to me now
and stuff, So it's nice to have little chats, and
I feel like that's what it always is with the
newer guys that come on. It's like, yeah, you see them,
you work together. But then once you start going with
these long road trips together kind of you know, starts

(09:59):
building those related ships up. And yeah, I would I
would say that Kyler for you. You know, you said
you weren't sure, like you know where your careers at
right now. Obviously here in Tucson, everyone wants to be
in the National Hockey League, But just how are you
using this opportunity right now here with the Roadrunners, with
this great coaching staff and great development team to you know,
play play the first line minutes and just get the

(10:21):
experience back to get back up to the National Hockey League.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Yeah, it's it's awesome. Obviously, this is still an amazing league.
You know, I got great coaches, great, great guys in
the locker room, you know, great teammates on the ice.
Just trying to do the little things every day, you know,
day in and day out, you know, just trying to
elevate my game to where when I do get called up,
or if I get called up, you know, I'll be

(10:44):
ready for that challenge and I'll be ready for the
fight once I get into it.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
If I'm not mistaken, I think you've played over three
hundred NHL games, and watching you out there, you can
just tell it's an NHL player and an AHL team.
And again it's just the you know, the situation right
now on the opportunity for you to to play more minutes.
But you know, even though this league is one of
the best in the world, are you noticing out there
that you know, you've played so much with the National

(11:11):
Hockey League players, have you noticed just the speed and
the difference and using it that has their advantage to
score goals out there as well? For the team I
tried to.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I mean, it's still an amazing league. Yeah, obviously a
little bit younger development league, but no, it's there's still
amazing players, you know, by going to every game, you know,
trying to be the best I can be. You know,
if I try to take one night off, you'll learn
really fast, you'll get humbled.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yes, oh for sure in this league.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
So I just tried to go in every game, try
to be my best, you know, play as hard as
I can be in you know, just try to make plays.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
And while you're here in Tucson. Yeah, you said you've
liked the weather and you've enjoyed it so far. Anything
that you've you've liked to do here, you know, in
the few weeks that you've been here in Tucson.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
You know, I went golfing yesterday.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
He did, Yeah, he did.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Sweet.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
It's nice to do that this time of year.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Right, I would say golfing, it would probably be number one.
I love golfing. Yeah, And with our schedule right now,
we've had a couple, you know, weeks where we haven't
had a midweek game, so it's nice to get out there,
feel the sunshine and stuff like that. And obviously the weather.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Nice. I haven't played, i think since my time in
the NHL I've played like in a city where it's
super sunny out all the time and it's really nice weather.
So that's definitely one thing I'm taking in.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Especially you're not used to it, you know, playing hockey,
being in this cold arena. And then even though it's
a little cooler outside in Tucson right now, you walk
out and it's still like just absolute sunshine.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Nothing but the best right there. Nice.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
I actually use the sun for my mental health, like
even in the middle of the day. If I'm doing something,
I just stand outside with my face to the sun
for a couple of minutes and it feels not in
the middle of summer. I don't recommend it will hurt
in the middle of summer, but right.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
Now it's a little really nice. Well, it's nice for
the players because they always say like, oh, yeah, I
love it here. The weather is amazing, and I'm like, well,
you guys aren't here during the summer. You know, everyone
goes home and you don't experience the one o three's
uh during the day. But it makes the winters all
worth it.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
So Johnny always asks the the hockey the hockey path
questions and then I'm gonna take you off the path
into like places that don't make sense and you're not
expecting to go. This actually is not unhinged question. But
I love your name, Kyler Yamamoto. You have no control
over that. I just like saying it. What do the
boys call you?

Speaker 2 (13:27):
They call me ya yam or that I try to guess.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
It's really hard to guess since with some names. Do
you like that, do you like yam or do you
have a bell name?

Speaker 3 (13:37):
I've called yamo, yamy, okay, yam fries, Okay, kind of whatever. Okay,
I'm pretty easy going.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
So ten men, ten percent of men think that they
could beat a lion in hand to hand combat. Do
you think that you could beat a lion hand to hand?
And if you don't know, okay, good. Honestly that should
be a personality test for every adult human. But what

(14:06):
do you think the biggest animal that you think that
you could defeat in a fight?

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Oh? I have no idea. Maybe a bobcat?

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Oh we have those here?

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Do we get bobcats here?

Speaker 4 (14:17):
We have bobs then, not super big? I could I
think maybe a female bobcat. I think probably the male
bobcats are a little bit big. But yeah, I don't know.
They're not living in your part of town, so that's
good news.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
It's a good question.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
A bobcat will never pounce up on Kyler Kylie. So
obviously six and seven right now with the record getting
one win on the road trip. We did end it
on the high note, which was great. But now we
have a really good team of the Wranglers coming in
this weekend. And then we played like Coachella Valley Firebirds,
an organization you were part of last season with the
Seattle Crack, and so you might know a couple of

(14:51):
those guys. But you know, just what does the team
have to do to kind of start getting those string
of wins together. We've seen a couple of we saw
small win streak before you coming down here, But you know,
how do we just start strings and wins together against
two really good opponents.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Yeah, I think we just we're gonna ride this confidence.
You know. Obviously when we were on that three game skid,
we were making too many plays. You know, we're struggling,
you know in the offensive zone, defensive zone. But I
think last game showed, you know that we could play
some very good hockey, and I think we just need
to keep that confidence. We need to play our identity,

(15:29):
you know, be able to get pucks in, you know,
get to the net, shoot more pucks, and play hard
in the defensive zone. So I think if we can
do that and you know, bring our confidence with us
this week, I think we'll be good for us.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Anything that you noticed that, you know while you're looking
at film of the Wranglers of what they've been able
to do and the reasoning of course, like why they're
first place in the league. Have you guys looked at
that and see maybe there's ways to combat what they
were able to do so well at you can't spell
the secrets. Oh, you're right, you're right. Sorry, sorry, Tony,
what do you think you're right? Never mind? Sorry, I'm

(16:02):
asking I'm asking the wrong questions here.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
But here I'll take an unhinted question.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Yeah, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
If you had an extra hour every day, what would
you do with it? I don't say sleep, because I
feel like that's like, that's what I would do.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
What I would hear, probably hang out with my dogs.
Hang out with my dogs, or maybe.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Playing some Xbox Oh okay, what are you playing on Xbox?

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Uh? Probably caught called Fortnite or apex.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Okay. I just found these two girls on Instagram who
play Call of Duty together, and it's the most hysterical
thing I've ever seen. They just like like exploring the
world of Call of Duty and just having the best time.
Like killing is ancillary to what they're like. Playing the
game is ancillary. Like they find pools and jacuzzi's and
just start having I'll have to share you the videos.
It's awesome. It's so amazing. It makes me want to

(16:50):
play Call of Duty else don't worry, I won't be there.
But but it makes.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Have you been playing the newest Call of Duty, the
Black Oop six? Yeah? I haven't played it yet. My
brother did buy it, like as a game share and
you said I can download it. Is it good? Is
it fun? Are you good?

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Like?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
What's your what's your KDI ratio?

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Oh? I don't know, my kidie, but I think I'm
all right. I wouldn't say I'm phenomenal, but I can
I get to kill here there. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
People say like video games rots the mind, but honestly,
I see as a great past time, you know, especially
with the chaotic schedules that we have, it's a good
past time. And it's honestly, I think it's a great
hobby for people to have because sometimes you need to
just get on a video game and either it's a
sport game or a game like college. Do you just
need to play and I have a good time?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Absolutely?

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Do you play with any of the guys or is
it randos like that?

Speaker 3 (17:36):
I played with a couple of the guys, but I play.
I've been playing a de Smeile with my brother who's
over in Scotland actually, or try to at least, and
then probably a couple guys back home to.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
So how far is that time done?

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Is?

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Ten ten hours? Eleven hours right now?

Speaker 3 (17:52):
No? Plus seven? Oh? Is it plus seven? Here? I think?

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Yeah, Okay, you would know better than I would. I'm
just thinking about the flight.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
So day off, So day off for you. You're playing
with your brother, who's probably around like four pm at
that time? Five pm?

Speaker 4 (18:06):
Maybe is your brother a wing too?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (18:10):
Yep, that's awesome? Is he is?

Speaker 3 (18:11):
He?

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Does he have a family over there?

Speaker 3 (18:14):
He has his girlfriend?

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Okay? I wanted to ask you, Bailey, is she in
two Broadway musicals at all?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
I think she is?

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Yeah, you have to take her to see Wicked.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Wicked?

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Yeah, I saw Wicked last night. It's so good. If
she likes Broadway musicals, she's gonna be very excited. So
maybe after games this weekend you can take her out.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
I'll have to ask her if she wants.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, we have a quick turnaround, two games this Friday
and Saturday, and then the games on Tuesday and Wednesday
and then Thanksgiving. What do you guys do to kind
of prepare for the quick turnaround like that? I think
it's just two days off, so like anything that you
guys do on the off day, and then the next
practice day and in game time.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I would say, probably just have that dinner. You know'll
probably have a good team dinner, you know, connect with
the guys, bond with the guys, and then the next
day go in have some meetings, get what you need.
You know, it'll be prepared for the game, and then
go from there.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Cool Kyler will be ready, Kim, Do you have any
more questions?

Speaker 4 (19:10):
One more question?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
One more question?

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Is there a song that you want to hear during
warm ups or music that you like that you want
us to play for you.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
It's been good so far.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
No liars, like you're telling me that give me a song?
Do you have a goalscoring song? No?

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Honestly, I don't listen to crazy amount of music, and
if it doesn't, it's whatever you guys are putting on
in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Okay, So I like your faith in them because it's
usually Dougie in charge, right. I can always tell when
Ben's in charge of the OX because it's the saddest
country music I've ever remember.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
It's like cast such a vibe. He loves it. Well,
you know, Dougie has the ox because Dougie loves Doss
and mimosas as his song. And I think, I'm I know,
I heard it one day after a win in Abbotsford.
So whenever you're hearing that things are going well in
the Tucson locker room. Well, Kyler, thanks so much for
joining us again. Uh, good luck this weekend and let's

(19:59):
go to song.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Absolutely, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Great interview, great guy, Kyler. Is you know again? I
was talking about on the Insider podcast with Arizona Daily
stars James Kelly, which is up on two soon robers
dot com slash podcast. But yeah, it's just the it's
the situation, you know, at the moment, you know. Yeah,
I'm sure it was very unknown when Yamamoto was on

(20:22):
waivers and not knowing where he was going to end
up at. But I think this is honestly the best
situation for him. He's with a great team, He's with
a great couple of teammates as well, and great coaches
and just great everything in an awesome city. You know,
he could have gone claimed with the team in some
cold city where it's cold and miserable all the time,

(20:44):
and he could have been claimed by a team where
he didn't get any playing minutes at all. And of
course we all do want to be in the National
Hockey League, but I think this is just the best
moment for him right now and best opportunity to get
the playing time he needs. The skill set has absolutely
been the I mean again, he skates like an NHL
player because he is an NHL player, and you know,

(21:05):
eventually he's hopefully going to get the call out back
to Utah and he'll he'll be back where he needs
to be.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Yeah, it's a it's a difficult situation, right, It's bittersweet
when we get these guys. And I was, you know,
not certain in talking to him, what questions, you know, right, coach,
because I want to be respectful of his situation. And
he is so incredibly talented.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Of course, Yeah, all these all these guys are It's
just it's just how it is, you.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Know, It's it's part of their life.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
It's part of their life. And yeah, Yamamoto hasn't been
in the AHL in a long time. Yeah, you know,
a former first round pick, and I know he expects
more from himself. But again, this is I think people forget,
you know, maybe from an ordinary fan standpoint, they see
a player of Yamamoto get sent to AHL and he's
like they think, like, oh, that's it for him, his
career has done. No, that's not the case at all.

(21:56):
This is a super talented league with super talented players,
young prospects, great goaltenders, great all around play. Yamamoto playing
in probably the second best league in the world right
now and producing, and he's yeah, exactly, He's producing last
two wins for Tucson. He's scored the game winning goal,
five points in five games so far. I mean, you know, again,

(22:17):
we love having these kinds of talents on our team,
but at the end of the day, we want these
guys to all be in the National Hockey League as
quick as possible. And for Yamamoto, just keep playing like
you've been playing, and he's going to get the call
out back to Utah yeah when they need their next forward.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Yeah. So I think it's, like you said, it's the
best possible situation that he could have ended up in.
Doesn't sound like he's spent a lot of time in
Arizona before.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
We are not at all. I think this is all
just a shocker. To him right now.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Yeah, I think so too. But I'm glad that he's
getting out and enjoying the sun. I'm glad he has
his fiance Bailey with Yeah, that's good, so beneficial. Like, yeah,
like being in a new city by yourself, even at
twenty six, even at twenty five, even at being in
a new city by yourself without family support, you know,
it's it's tough. So yeah, he seems like he's handling

(23:07):
it all very very well. I'm so glad that he's here,
and I'm excited to see him against Calgary this weekend.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah. Really, two big series for the Roadrunners. Got the
big win, you know, getting the win at the end
of the road trip was great, But that three game
skid was just a little rough. It was painful. And again,
you know, every team has their skids. We talked about
so much last year where Tucson had such a phenomenal start,

(23:34):
and I think the whole really the whole season, we
just kept bragging to everyone saying we haven't had our
skid yet, Like we're we're halfway through, We're more than
halfway through the season. The most we've lost in a
row is like two games and we're doing great, and
and then you know, we kind of had a skid
near the end of the season. I think we kind
of jinxed in a little bit. Maybe I did. You're
always saying I'm jinxing everything, but I'm just an optimistic Kim.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Wait, where are you mad at me for that? Like,
because being real, like.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Because you're always calling me every time I say something.
You're just like, Johnny, why would you say, I just don't.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Want you to jinx anything. That's I don't know I have.
I have a lot of superstitions.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Anyways, Oh my god. Okay, Anyways, with that being said,
you know, I think this year is just, you know,
a bit of a flip flop. You know, we're we're
started a little slower than what we're accustomed to, and
we had our first losing streak of the three games,
but you know, it's just the beginning of the year.
And James had a good point of Yeah, sure, you

(24:33):
can have a three game losing streak in the middle
of the season. No one's gonna notice that because your
record's your record. If you have a three game skin
in the beginning of the season, you notice it on
the record because that's all the record, that's only you
have not many games played. So for the road Runners, yeah,
it's still still a work in progress. I know I've
been saying that for the last you know, first month

(24:53):
and a half of the season, but it really is.
It's a work in progress. We've only played thirteen games.
It's game fourteen this upcoming Friday, and you know, again,
I think this is a really big stretch for Tucson
these next four games. We're really going to see what
this team is capable of in these next four games,
because it it doesn't get any easy. It went two

(25:14):
and three on a very favorable schedule stretch, couldn't get
the wins. But now they have opportunity to get wins
against very good opponents. Calgary first places in the division
right now and Gochella Valley on a five game winning streak.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
And I think that's the hard part. When you're on
a skid, like you're saying against teams that you know
that we're better than and and you're not winning against
those that's so hard. That's the painful. Yeah, when you're
walking away from it going Okay, what happened? I don't
understand we should have we should have ended up on
the other side of this, and that's you know, that's

(25:51):
what the coaches are there for, to take some good,
hard looks at things. I had a really hot take
after last weekend, but I'm not sure I was thinking,
you know, maybe you just you leave Maddie in goal
and get his confidence back up. No, you have to, like, no,
you can't just yeah, you can't. Yeaheah, It's so difficult.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
It is difficult, you know, and especially when you have
a goaltender like Jackson Stabber who's playing lights out you know,
five and two record, whereas Valalta hasn't won in five record.
But yeah, for for Maddie's confidence and we know what
he's capable of. Yeah, we saw the season he had
last year, and again it's just not the start then
of what we've been accustomed to. But yeah, no, by

(26:34):
any means, you just can't throw Matthew Voalalta on the
bench and have Jackson Stobber start playing all of these
back to back games. It's just not suitable, especially in
this league when you kind of need both goaltender starting
each game. I know we saw all of Matthew Valalta
last season, but you know, when you in this situation
was a bit different. You know, had Anson Thorn to

(26:55):
start off the year, signed Dylan Wells to the PTO.
I mean, Wels was just a PTO goalie when Mattie
was still starting all the games. And then eventually we
start kind of teetering towards Dylan Wells near the end
of the year because it's a long season, right Whereas
this time we've been going back and forth in the
beginning because that's what we signed Jackson Stabber for. And yeah,
with that being said, you know, there's no starter on

(27:16):
this team. Jackson Stabber is not the starter. Matthew Walaltz
is not the backup, and yeah, and Maddy's not the
starter either. Stobburd a backup. We kind of went to
this season knowing that it was gonna be, you know,
maybe a one A and one B situation. And yes,
Stabber technically has the better stats right now, but that
doesn't mean anything's going to change. Matthew Waltz has kept
us in a lot of games. Team hasn't really put

(27:37):
a lot of offense for Maddie as well. And this
starts you know, most people look at the goalie record,
but you know, a one in five record doesn't show
the play that Maddie has had. There's been a couple
of games where the team hasn't been able to support
him offensive wise and net. But if you tell Matthew
Walter that he's not gonna he's not gonna tell you
that either, like he's gonna tell he's gonna tell you

(27:58):
he wants to see the wins. Wins are the biggest
thing for a goaltender, and to have one in the
first six games is you know, he knows he's better
than that and he's gonna be just fine. Just have
to keep rolling, keep pushing. You know, before you know it,
Matthew Waltza could be having a phenomenal game this weekend
or next week against two really good teams. So yeah,
just keep the sale riding. We got the great win

(28:20):
on Saturday, two to one. Yamamoto, I forgot to talk
about his dance. He did a little dance. Yeah, he
did a dance after his goal. I forgot to ask
him about I talked to him about actually after the game,
but didn't ask him about it here. But funny story
saw him after the game getting the post game meal,
told him, great job tonight. He's like, appreciate it. And

(28:41):
then Doan was right there too, and Don't had asked me,
what was your call of his dance? And I called it.
I called it his little dance, not because he's you know,
he's not the biggest hockey player, not because of that.
I literally just but I mean, I literally just said
it because he just did it. He did a little dance.
And I think the guys thought as if it's like

(29:01):
I was calling him small, which I was not, And
then Kyler's like, that's insane, and I'm like, I didn't
mean him like that.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
I just because how tall are you?

Speaker 2 (29:10):
But I don't. I think I'm like five nine ish.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
So you and Kyler are kind of we're kind of same.
So you calling him small's essentially you weren't calling him
small because.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
No, yeah, because then I just be calling myself small.
So yeah, no, by any means not. But then the
guys started telling me a bunch of like Vegas puns
I could have used for these the goal calls, and
I'm like, Okay, maybe I'll use that one in February
when you're back to them. Get back to Henderson, may
write down a couple of goal call slogans I can use.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
The guys are like what did they recommend?

Speaker 2 (29:41):
I don't know, like uh ones, like he's dancing like
he just rolled a seven, you know, or you know,
dancing like he got a twenty one on a ten
or something. I don't know. It's a bunch of uh
you know, or like betting Vegas. Not saying they all
do that, but he you know, when you're in Vegas.
That's just kind of like the motto. Even though we're

(30:03):
technically not in Vegas. We're in Henderson, which is about
thirty minutes away from Vegas, but still in the proximity
of the since city. Great trip overall, though, I mean,
it was a great time. Got to go home, saw
my family when we were in Ontario for the first game,
and then yeah, a couple got a fun night in
Vegas because we stay near the strip at the Sahara,

(30:25):
which is awesome. So yeah, I had a great time
at the strip. Great trip overall. It was great to
get that last win and hopefully now the guys can
starking that win streak rolling. I think that's what we've
been kind of waiting for. You know, we've seen teams
start off slow, they get their five game win streaks
at Coachella Valley, for instance, and all of a sudden,
now they're eight and five. The Roadrunners need that we start.
And again it's tough because now we have to play

(30:47):
Cayrie and Coachella Valley. But if you can string three
of those games of wins, I think that would be
just phenomenal for Tucson. Even if you happen to split
both series, I think that would be great for the
team too, because again, it's so hard to sweep teams
in this league.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
It is, it is. I am not related to that,
but I did want to point out that I called
the first squal.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
You did, right, Yeah you did? That? Was that was awesome?
Do you like my goal call? I was like, Kim
called that one. And then it's funny because like I'm sure,
obviously I know all the fans know who you are,
but there's haw to have been one or two people
listening to that and they're like, who is that right?
What is this guy talking about? It all just happened

(31:30):
so quickly, I mean, because like once hundred Drews scored.
And again, if if your folks are confused, this is
dating back to the Wednesday game in Ontario tied things up.
Hunter Drew scored on kind of a pretty much a breakaway.
Ben McCartney got it to him on a kind of
a hil Mary pass and went through a defender stick
and then all of a sudden hundredws on a breakaway.
It was very quick play. But like I would say,

(31:51):
as I was screaming at like the goal call I
realized in the split second was like, oh my god,
Kim called that and I was like, no way, first
first goal, Kim? Is that the first prediction hit this year? Okay?

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Oh for me, that is my first prediction.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
Did I ever have I hit won this year?

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Yet?

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I don't think I think that because we don't. We
kind of forget to do it, like I forgot to
do with Chase, which I'm sad I wish I did
it with Chase uh the previous game and then didn't
have the three game show on Friday due to technical difficulties.
But regardless of that, Yeah, you know, great road trip overall,
Hunter Drew still playing, Hunter Drew so good. Five goals,

(32:30):
the assists, eight points in eight games played. Ben McCartney
had a good road trip, got a goal in an assist.
Sam Lipkin has been quietly a very solid FOURD for
Tucson four points in his last six games, three goals
and one assist.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
Yeah, he's super silent, but he's he's a.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Guy that totally he reminds me a lot of Cameron
he Big, you know, a guy who flies under the
way radar. But obviously he Big has been here for
five years, so people know who he is now. But uh,
and I'm not saying Lipkin is gonna be here for
five years. You know, obviously every guy has a shot
to the National Hockey League, but you know, he's kind
of seems like one of those players that's under the radar.
Played seven games last year, came on the ato, signed

(33:11):
the three year entry level this season, actually was hurt
to start off the year, and then now is playing
with the team and has played really good hockey. Kind
of played on the fourth line a bit, but recently
he's been on the third, you know, getting a good
minutes for the team now and again I think we
might see maybe as part of a potential win streak

(33:33):
for the team, Sam Lipkin's gonna go on a nice run.
I think he.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
I mean, we're still getting to know him. Right When
I see seventy one out on the ice, I still
have to check my roster because I'm not certain who
it is. I know it's not Sam, but but I
think Twoson's going to get to know him. And this
is the way he's Yeah, he's one hundred percent making
a case for himself and it's so yeah, so exciting
to watch somebody do that and have that success.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Yeah, he's been great. Another player I want to touch
up on Robbie Rose. I mean, he's he's been playing
lights out to start off his year. I believe he
has seven points this season, all coming on assists. He
has four power play assists for the team as well,
that also leads it in that category. And he's been

(34:16):
just playing really smart and phenomenally and honestly, the entire
blue line had a good weekend over Anderson. They were
finding lanes, they were getting the puck to the net.
Layden Moore played his first game in about six matches
on Saturday, and again, Lane Moore maybe similar to Kyler Yamamoto,
guys who are aren't as big, but they use their
their size and their speed to play great minutes out there.

(34:40):
And Laymore's a defender, so he has to be more physical.
And there's a couple of moments Kim where he was
able to get the puck from some bigger dudes and also,
you know, find ways to create space for himself. He
took that slashing call on the Saturday game that gave
the road Runners the power play opportunity and then Kyler
Yamamoto scored the goal. So just little things like that,

(35:01):
you still notice, you know, well within this team, no
matter winn or lose, guys are doing the small things
to get those victories or get us those chances. But
I think we need more of those because it's just
no margin for error, especially in this league. And that's
what Steve poven has you know, touched on, touched up
on in these past few weeks. The margin for error
is so small. You make one mistake and all of

(35:23):
a sudden, you know you'd be allowing two or three
goals and then now the Roadrunners have to play catch up.
So and there's gonna be no small margin for error
this weekend against Calgary. So it's gonna be a tough
one for Tucson, no doubt about it. It's gonna be
two really tough Games playoff rematch of last year as well,
Calgary sweeping the Roadrunners in the first round. So I

(35:43):
like to call it the Revenge Games, the Revenge Series.
We're gonna try to avenge the twenty three twenty four season,
a year that we had so much high hopes for
a long playoff run. Calgary spoiled it, and now it's
time to get revenge.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Let's see what happens. It's gonna be really interesting because
Dustin Wolf's not not no, but they have.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
They have a goaltender, uh, last name Cooley getting first
name in a set, Logan. I believe this. I didn't
want to say, uh.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
You you look it up. I'm I want to say
that I do appreciate hockey player that if a professional
hockey player that you see out in the wild and
don't realize he's a professional hockey player, like Von You're right, yeah, Devin,
Devin Cool, Devin Coo so close did you say Logang?

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Yeah, because he's Logan Cool prospect Utah Utah Hockey Club prospects. Yeah,
rookie last year.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
See. That's why I also wanted to double check because
there's been times where I say, like Logan cooling and
I'm sure, uh, Devin Cooley playing this weekend. Hopefully I
don't say logan at all while I'm calling the game.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Sorry about that. Yeah, okay, but I appreciate the fact
that Layton is here is so amazing because he is
not a traditional hockey body, you know, especially as a defenseman.
Like you look like you look at Montana, you look
at Maxie, you look at Canton. They look like hockey players.
You you see it, like they're big dudes and they're

(37:02):
they're throwing it around. Layton is so much fun. He is, Yeah,
such a super electric defenseman.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Yeah, wise, Yeah, he's phenomenal. Glad to see him back
in the lineup last Saturday, and he did contribute to
that victory for the Roadrunners as well. All Right, Kim,
next segment, we said we were gonna draft. This segment.
We're gonna push you to the next segment. We got
steered aside. But that's okay, great conversation about the upcoming
games on Friday and Saturday for the Roadrunners. When we

(37:29):
get back, we are gonna be drafting. This one's a
new one. James Kelly recommended this one for us. We're
gonna draft our favorite NHL to AHL like kind of
brand affiliations. Fox Sports fourteen fifty am our usual Tuesday
night get together Roadrunners Happy Hour. Jonathan Schaffer here with
Kim coder Roblez. We just had Kyler Yamamoto on the
show for our first segment. Great interview there, and then

(37:51):
Kim and I really dove deep into this past week
near the road run. Yeah, unexpected. Usually it's James and
I talking about all the hard stats and everything in
the games. You and I usually talk about the fun stuff,
which I like. I like the balance, but it's nice
to get into it with you a little bit on
you know, just what the team has done these past
few games and what to expect this upcoming weekend with

(38:12):
two big games on Friday and Saturday. Friday, Faith and
Family Nights for Game one versus Calgary, and then we
have Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Saturday to twenty third,
So get your tickets for those games at Tucson Roadrunners
dot com if you haven't already. Should be a packed
barn this upcoming weekend.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
And specialty warm up jerseys on Saturday, Yes, yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Special team warm yep, specialty warm up jerseys for hockey
fights cancer. Guys will be signing those jerseys as well.
No post game jersey auction, but we will be auctioning
those off eventually and selling those off as well for
the u of A cancer.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Research the Children Medical Center that yeah, I think it
believe is that.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
So yeah, all proceeds will be going to those. Kim,
we have a we have a draft to do. I
really like this idea favorite NHL to AHL affiliations, whether
it's like, you know, great logos, great colors, maybe location wise.
We didn't really get into the specific of the rules,
but I'll let you go first this one again, So

(39:11):
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
Okay, So my first pick is going to be stay
with me Henderson, Las Vegas, Tahoe. I'm taking it all
the way down, all the way because the Tahoe, the monsters,
that's such good. It's so beautiful. The colors that they chose.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
It's such a brand. I have a friend who works
for them. It's so awesome. Yeah, they they branded themselves
very well. I love Tahoe so much. That's a great, like,
that's just a perfect city for for like a team
like that, you know, smaller, smaller town, smaller community, tight
knit community. Their arena's beautiful. Yeah, it just made sense

(39:55):
for them that, like we already kind of knew they
were going to be affiliated with Henderson and Vegas even
before the affili the nation was announced. They announced their
name The Night Monsters, and you're like, Okay, that's a given.
Uh So yeah, that's that's good, Kim, that's good.

Speaker 3 (40:07):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Three you did the three way uh, because that was good.
Probably be my first pick because you know, again Henderson,
like there are rivals, we hate them, but at the
same time, you gotta give respect where it's due. They
have cool colors. It's cool being like Golden Knights, Silver
Knights as the AHL affiliate, and then you have the
the Night Monsters. So I think that totally works.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
First pick for me, I'm gonna go with the San
Jose Sharks and the San Jose Barracuda. You know, it's
I think it's always tough for maybe when a myor
league team does have a r is in the same
city as the major team. But you know, San Jose
they built up that uh brand new arena which is
really nice, and I've liked the way where they have

(40:52):
the same exact colors as the Sharks, but they've kind
of rebranded themselves to where there they have their own identity,
especially these past three seasons. They have the cool great jerseys.
Now they have their own addition of the black jerseys
and the you know, the regular away ones. But yeah,
I like it where they have the same colors, but
they brand them themselves to be you know, San Jose.

(41:12):
They have the Kudah logo with the s Jana back
Kuda and the shark you know, just stuff like that.
So and also again I might be biased because I
used to work for them, So yeah, San Jose is
my first pick.

Speaker 4 (41:21):
They were actually my number three. Okay, my number two
is the Kraken and Coachella Valley again rivals. But their
colors are just so clean, so beautiful. That the dark
blue of the Kraken with that turquoise blue which also
feeds into that's just and then the Coachella Valley Firebirds

(41:42):
that logo is so beautiful and it's red. And when
you see those jerseys in person, both of those teams
they just look so fire like, just no notes there.
They did everything right, Yeah creating this.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
It works.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Yeah, it just works because what they did so perfectly
was that the fire It's like, you know, you feel
that they have their own identity, but at the same
time their colors like somehow match. Seattle's like some cracking,
but you still feel like the Firebirds have their own
colors in their color skime. They're not just like copying
pasting their their jerseys, but also.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
They're two imagine myth mythological creatures, the Kraken and then
and they don't say Phoenix because they couldn't say phoenix
right right, they had to say fires Birds, But it
works works.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Next one for me again might be biased here. Used
to grow up as a fan of both of these teams.
They an I'm Ducks and San Diego Goals. When the
goals came to the AHL, pretty big news for the
city of San Diego. Uh, I mean it's kind of perfect,
you know, location wise, you have San Diego, which a
big sports market, you know, probably like an hour and
a half from Anaheim. I would say, so the a

(42:52):
really good day on a good day, yeah, on a
really bad day, you're hitting two hours for sure, similar colors,
but at the same time, the goals have found their
way to have their own identity.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
Two birds, I mean a dock and a seagull. I
mean that doesn't that kind of screams California. So uh yeah, again,
might be biased, but you it's a great it's great affiliation.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
There, that's it. That's a good one. I wasn't on
my list my next one. And honestly, I need to
say this. I feel like that we should have done
the opposite of what we're picking right now, because it
was so much harder to pick affiliations that I liked,
because there's so many that I don't.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Maybe we can do yeah, maybe we can do the
worse next week.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
I already have a list. I am ready to call
for next week affiliation. I feel like when you have
a bad like a bad affiliation, it's almost like you're
a parent and you have a kid who doesn't look
anything like you. People are like, does that kid belong
to you? Or are you kidnapping? What's happening here? That's
what it's like to me. But okay, so my sorry
I took a tangentially off track. But what do we
at number three or four?

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Three? Three? Okay?

Speaker 4 (43:51):
So I got the Rain and the Kings. Oh yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Super a given. Yeah, that's a given. I mean they
have the exact exact same jerseys. You know, one could
one could say.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
Like different but just a hint, it's a little a
splash of Tabasco.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
One could say like, oh, they're copying that, But then
you know they play in Ontario, so and and I
I love Ontario because I lived near that area and
I grew up watching the Rains, so.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Like, but it's not like it's not copying them, like
Providence Bruins and the Boston Bruins like that.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
Yeah, the exact same Yeah, the same exact name is
is insane? Third for me, Abbots for Canucks, Vancouver Canucks
Abbotsford used to be the Utica comments until a couple
of teams kind of switched around, and then now the
comments are with the new jersey Devil. But Utica rebranded
their entire like logo, everything like kind of the same

(44:40):
but just all the coloring. But now that Canucks and
Abbots for Canucks. Yeah, there exact same team name, but
I like that Vancouver is the the Orca and then
Abbotsford is literally a lumberjack and the direction. Yeah, like
it's cool. I like it. Like, yes, you can say, like, oh,
they have the same name, but they've kind of rebranded
and also same scenario. The Abbotsford Canucks have the same colors,

(45:04):
but they found a way to like kind of make
their jerseys more green, like they take more of the
green palettes, and I think they have one of the
best jerseys in the league as well. So uh yeah,
I gotta gotta go with that one.

Speaker 4 (45:15):
I'm gonna say Calgary, Okay. I like the colors and
that they both have the flames on the logo. Not
the biggest fan like, let's call this one my number five.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
They also play at the same the same arena, so
it's like.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
So it's like one load of laundry for the equipment guy.
Good watching watching all the jerseys.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
Yeah, they play at the same arena. And you know,
I don't know, some of these.

Speaker 4 (45:41):
Are just lazy, like Texas and Dallas.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
That's just lazy a little bit. Yeah, I mean because
Texas puts the star in their middle their logo and
then Dallas has the the main star. But even when
the Texas plays like three hours away though, so like
they have their market too, which is good.

Speaker 4 (45:56):
Yeah, very much. Austin is its own city. But even
when you're like calling the games, like when I'm down
there calling the games. I have to remember not to
say Dallas Stars like down so hard.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
No, it's so hard to not say Dallas Stars.

Speaker 3 (46:07):
I feel you.

Speaker 4 (46:08):
Okay, Okay, so I have what year it's you?

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Now?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Am I picking two or no?

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Number?

Speaker 4 (46:13):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (46:13):
I'm number four? Eagles and Avalanche. Eagles are in a
perfect market in Loveland, Uh been their arena, they get,
they their fans show up, they get a big crowd.
It's great. Yeah, the colors are a little different, but
like still similar colors where you can make it work.
I always look at the goalies too. If the goalies
can make the color schemes work, then it works as well.

(46:34):
And their goalies also make it work. And even the
Eagles uh sometimes wear the Avalanche colors for some of
their games of the season. Oh okay, yeah, it's like
their third jersey. So it's kind of cool they get
the Colorado Avalanche identity for those games.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
Okay, I appreciate that. Okay, So my number five is
going to be Wilke's bar. Okay, Penguins and the Penguins
the fact that they they're so muscular, so much more
built and afy in the the there's his hystericles.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
There there are logo screams Ahl to me like that
that is a cartoony, cartoony you know, you can see
you can argue that Dusty has the is the most
cartoony looking uh logo in the league. Uh, you can
say wilkes Bury's second, and then maybe following by like
San Diego and and uh Bakersfield maybe.

Speaker 4 (47:23):
Wait is it wilkes bar or wilkes Bury.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Wilkes Barry I believe.

Speaker 4 (47:26):
I say wilkes Bary has somebody to call in on this.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
Someone call in. We don't have a live phone line.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
He used to live near Pennsylvania too, and I said
that I don't know thing else.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
Well, it will Scranton. I think that's where the office
takes place. It is, okay, so yeah, so maybe they
gotta do an episode. Well, if they revived the series,
they gotta do an episode where they go to a
minor league hockey game and then uh, Steve Carell shows
him how it escap because apparently knows that escape last
one for me Iowa Wild Minnesota Wild. Yes to both
names by like how Minnesota has their bear logo, uh,

(47:55):
you know part of the Minnesota and then the Wild
have their name with the Iowa on the bottom exact
same jerseys of course, But you know, I think I
just like the location and the and the way they
kind of match their colors as well.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
I do like that they use the star because Minnesota's
in the North Star States, I think, and they use
the star in both logos. I do like that green,
but I just feel like it's so lazy when you
name both teams these same things.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
A little bit, a little bit, but you know, yeah,
like maybe Toronto Marley's and Toronto maple Leafs. That's a
really good one too.

Speaker 4 (48:27):
A Marle. They're so curious, like their logo.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
Stick because they have Toronto maple leafs on one and
the second one is a little crown, So like that
one's cool. Maybe we can go through a couple of these.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
I have questions like about like EHL affiliations because I
was looking, like, so it's like Kalamazoo wings or EHL
affiliate for the Oh my gosh, who is it? It
doesn't make sense that they're called the wings. They should
be an affiliate to the Detroit Red wings and they're
not a Detroit.

Speaker 2 (48:56):
Red Yeah, EHL is just a little different. They don't
really do affiliations. I mean, Tahoe with that was a given,
but that was because it was a brand new team
and Henderson hadn't really have a permanent affiliation yet, so
kind of all different when it comes to that. Well, Kim, unfortunately,
we're a little bit out of time here. We're over
our time slots, so we're gonna head out here. Roadrunners
play the Calgary Wranglers this cup coming weekend. If you
