Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's up, everybody.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
This is Sea Bass from Rocking with Sea Bass and man,
oh man, did I have an amazing time last night
at the Kings of Clubs to see Michael Monroe's band. Man,
that guy, that guy's a maniac. He's crazy. My good

(00:22):
friend Jason, who was at that concert, by the way,
he said it right there, he's a maniac. But one
heck of a rock star. I mean, this dude's in
the sixties, right, and this man's performing and running around
like he's in his twenties.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Like he was like jumping on the walls and going
over them, jumping.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
On his drummer's drum kit doing the splits. I'm just like,
what And all in all, his voice sounded amazing, like
he has not lost his voice at all.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Such an underrated talent.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
I wish, I wish he was bigger, Like I know,
Hanoi Rock's going to be big, but you know, with
the circumstances and all that, But darn, he was just
an amazing, amazing performer and one of the best concerts
I have seen this year so far. A lot of props.
I would love to see him again. I'd love to
meet him, but the meet and greet was like two

(01:17):
hundred dollars. Not the most expensive meet and greet I've had,
but it was quite up there, and I don't have
enough money to do anything else, so I decided to
hold off on that. But I would love to get
him on here and talk to him. He is just
an amazing, amazing performer. The place I went to the

(01:38):
Kings of Clubs. Great place. It was my first time
being there. I've heard so much about it. I heard
a lot of major acts performed there, like De Snyder
from Twisted, Sister, Spashi and Back from skid Row performed there.
Apparently slip Knots performed there too, which is pretty impressive.
But also my good friends that Arena Rock Show performed

(02:01):
there as well. They also did their music video for
Still the Night there. You can never really tell if
you watch the music video because the place looks huge,
but the place is actually quite small. I mean it's
not the biggest, it's not the smallest club I've seen,
but it's certainly not big.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
But it's it's very nice place.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
It's like a it's like a circle and the stage
is like set up in the like back, and it's
a it's a pretty big stage, but but yeah, it's
a really cool place. Definitely had to check it out.
The opening acts who performed before Michael came on was
Sweet Gypsy and this other band that I thought was

(02:39):
really good. It was there called Petty Bone. I hope
I said that right. Sweet Gypsy, they have a lot
of potential. Like they're a fairly young band. I can tell.
They played some cover songs. They they played like Cheap
Trick Surrender, one of the most famous songs, and again,

(03:00):
they were pretty good. They were not bad. I think
I think they definitely have potential. I think they just
need to find their sound. I'm not trying to feel
like I'm criticizing the band or anything, but I think
once they find that right sound, I think they can
definitely go to places. They definitely have a lot of potential.
Now this other group, Petty Bone. Never heard of them before,

(03:24):
but wow, I know how to explain it. The lead singer,
he sounds kind of a mixture between Ronnie James Dio
and Mark Free from King Kobra. The guy had such
an impressive voice. I was really getting into the groove
of that. It was super smooth. They sounded great. I

(03:46):
mean the guy really knew how to sing. I was
impressed with them. They were pretty heavy too. Their guitar player,
it was obviously the leader of the band. He had
like this cool looking guitar that look like something James
Hetfield would play. So I could tell these guys were
like Metallica fans or thrash metal fans. I mean, yeah, yeah,

(04:07):
shout out to Pettybone. They were really good, and I
hope to see them again because I think they're definitely
a band that deserves to get bigger than what they are.
They've apparently released a new album. They perform a few
songs on there. Now I can't remember the songs because
again I was kind of new to the band, so
I didn't really know what to expect.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
But great, great band. Yeah, definitely check them out. They're
called Pettibone. Anyway.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I wanted to see Michael Monroe very very badly because
I watched a lot of documentaries about the eighties and
they mentioned the band Hanoi Rocks several times talk about
how they could have been bigger, how they were basically
the first, you know, glam punk band to basically do

(04:59):
that type of luck. They were basically like a mixture
of New York dolls and t Rex. Basically they were
They definitely knew how to dress very well. But yeah,
I really really wanted to see them, and that was
the best chance I can get because I know he
doesn't tour in America that much. He's very popular up

(05:20):
there in the Europe area. I remember when I first
listened to the band, I really wasn't a crazy fan
at first. They really weren't what I was expecting. I
was expecting a heavier band, you know, like like Wasp
or Motley Crue, you know the bands like that that

(05:41):
you know, dress like that. But instead what I heard
was a band that had that punk sound. And at
that time, I really wasn't a big fan of punk,
so you know, I kind of disregard them and went
on my happy way, but decided to give them one
more chance. Years later and I'm starting to really really
appreciate them. They their music is awesome, actually, and Michael

(06:05):
Monroe is such a talented singer. My favorite song is
actually high School. The way he sings high School like that, right,
that is such an amazing song. Andy McCoy very underrated
guitar player. You gotta give him his props. The guy
deserves a lot more credit than he than what he gets.

(06:27):
So Michael basically performed some of the Hanoi Rocks classics
like Boulevard of the Boat, Broken Dreams, High School, also,
Don't You Ever Leave Me? That's one of my favorite
songs right there. I love how his guitar player literally
like went on the mic and did that one part
of the song where he's all like they wanted to

(06:48):
get up to Quota cry and when I saw you
you came along something like that. I kind of butchered that,
but man, he pulled that off really well. And his
band is very, very talented. His guitar player, I don't
know if he ever gets his a lot, but he
kind of looks like he belongs in the Ramones. But yeah,

(07:09):
he was a fantastic guitar player. His drummer is amazing.
His bass player, I mean darn and I could tell
he really he picked some really good musicians to be with,
So yeah, props out to his band. He also played
some of his solo stuff, stuff like Murdered, the Summer
of Love, Daryl Lake Palace, all Fighter stuff from his

(07:33):
new album it's called Oh Yeah, I Live I Live
Too Fast to Die Young. Yeah, he played that. This
man actually has quite a lot of solo albums that
I didn't even realize, So I gotta listen to a
lot of his stuff. And what's even funnier during the performance,
like he kept like brushing his hair with this cloth.

(07:54):
Like this man didn't seem like he was sweating at all,
and I'm like, so that's why his hair always looks clean.
He always wipes it off with with some type of towel.
He also has like this fan. He's all like, you know,
you know, waving the fan at his face and singing,
and I'm like, okay, and then he starts. Then he
threw the fan at the audience and everything. I think
there was also one part of the concert. I don't

(08:16):
know what fully happened, but I think he accidentally knocked
a fan's phone out of their hand. The fan didn't
seem mad or anything, and he just kept going And
all I was thinking was like, is he gonna get
that for the fan? No?

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Okay, I mean he kept.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Knocking down his mike's stand and tangling everything up. I'm
pretty sure this happens in all of his concerts, where
everything gets all tangled up because the Man's moving like
super fast, so his roadies had to go in there
like untangle everything super fast before he grabs it. He
kept going and the man again sounded great. He also

(08:53):
took out a saxophone and his harmonica. I think he
handed a harmonica to one of the fans. That was
pretty cool. I wish I could have gotten one, but
I wasn't that close. I was like in the middle.
I was kind of like getting crushed. But all in all,
a great show. Definitely something something worth to check out
once he comes back to America, or if you guys

(09:15):
have a lot of money to go to the European
area and see him there, then go right ahead and
I won't stop you. But a great musician, super underrated,
very sweet guy. I love to have him on here,
so hopefully one day I can. I'm gonna try to
get him on here. I would love to have him
on here. Shout out to Jason for coming and that
that was cool. Its cool to see you man. And

(09:37):
also it was pretty tough getting home. The show ended
at like eleven and like I got home at like
two am. But the problem was it was raining super
hard and I could not see anything, and I was
I thought I was gonna fall asleep, so but it was.
It was a rough ride, and then I had to

(09:58):
get up at like seven am to do a radio gig.
That was a fun gig. Yeah, but yeah, you know,
I'm a hard worker. That's how that's how I roll.
But anyway, y'all, thank you for listening. Please check out
Michael Monroe if you haven't, or Annoy Rocks. And if
there's any band that you recommend me talking about or
wanting me to go see, then shoot me up a

(10:22):
message on Facebook and we'll talk about it. Anyway. This
is Sea Bass from Rocking with Sea Bass. Take care
and keep on rocking.
