Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's get to the content of what you had in
that video you released, because there are also fifteen House
Republicans who are also veterans who released a video, including
a retired three star Marine Corps General Jack Bergman.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Take a listen to this, troops, listen up.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Any service member who refuses a lawful order is subject
to court martial for violating.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
The Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Speaker 5 (00:23):
We study what's lawful and what's not lawful. And the
Democrats stunt insinuating that their illegal or unconstitutional orders, it's
downright dangerous, is corrosive, it is meant to weaken our
country and weaken the military.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Good on those House Republicans for going public with that analysis,
which we were talking about late last week with her
as truly Ryan schuling lyon welcome to it, Zach seekers
on the other side of the glass, and Dan Kaplis
as well, just jaw a Gate trying to figure out
what the calculation was here by the Democrats. They don't
think more than one step in front of them, one

(01:05):
move ahead on the chessboard. They don't think of ramifications,
they don't think of consequences, they don't think of blowback
or any kind of boomerang effect that might come back
on them. They don't think these things through because they're
diluted by Trump derangement syndrome. Now, I know that sounds
like a throwaway talking point. It is not. It is

(01:25):
endemic upon many of these Democrats, many of them claiming
to be moderates, like Alyssa Slotkin, senator from my home
state of Michigan. Like Jason Crowe who embarrassed himself last
week from the sixth Congressional district here in Colorado, my
current home congressional district, and I'm very ashamed of that.

(01:47):
And Mark Kelly, he's an astronaut. He brings people together.
He's not partisan's a hyperpartisan. He's not biased. He's a senator.
He has this gravitas, this stand. No he doesn't, No,
he doesn't. Because what the Democrats did in creating this
video will have a rehash of that in just a moment.
But what the Republicans, including Jack Bergman, Republican Michigan, we're

(02:11):
pushing back on there. Okay, you are confusing. Are enlisted
men and women in our armed services. I'm talking rank
and file, those that are out putting their lives on
the line, serving our country at home and abroad, especially internationally.
You are planting seeds of doubt in their minds that
they should question the orders they've been given, that they

(02:33):
should analyze from illegal constitutional basis, which orders they've been
given that are illegal and legal And it's up to them.
Enlisted men and women, no disrespect, but in the order
of the rank and file, the chain of command, they
don't get to make those determinations. Now you are trained
to disobey a directly illegal order. They already know that.

(02:57):
Why then would representatives with Senator Kelly, which Senator Slot
can feel the need to insult the intelligence of our soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines,
et cetera by feeling the need to remind them, we
know you've been trained this, but just as a reminder,

(03:18):
you know you're not supposed to follow illegal orders. They
know that. So that reveals what the game is here,
And it's not really a message directed at our enlisted
men and women, or anybody in our armed services rank
and file serving our country at home and abroad. It's political.
It was posturing, it was positioning. They didn't think it through.

(03:41):
They thought it would play well with their base. They
live in echo chambers and silos in which nobody thinks
to question them. If Senator slot can head me on
her staff first, that'd be wild. But let's just say
she did. She thought outside the box, like I want
to bring in somebody doesn't think like us, to tell
us what are we missing here? How are we losing
and bleeding support amongst the working class, the blue collar,

(04:03):
the auto workers, Trump supporters, upper Midwest, russ Belt. What
is going on here? We want to find out. We
really want to find out. Now. Parenthetical aside, they don't
want to find out. They don't care about those people anymore.
If they ever did in the first place, but certainly
not now. But let's say they did, and Senator Slackin
comes in. I'm thinking about doing this rigle, whoa slow

(04:25):
your role? Don't do that? Why would you do that?
You're playing right into President Trump's hands. You are moving
to a checkmated position on the chessboard. And I'll explain
that in a moment as well. But this was the
natural response to it. And think about this. The Sunday
morning talk show hosts, we're talking Margaret Brennan, Face the Nation,
Kristen Welker, Meet the Press, These are not conservatives, These

(04:49):
are not pundit's hosts anchors that are friendly to conservatives.
And yet even they are pushing back on the likes
of Jason Crowe and Alyssa Slockkin. So you heard the
Republican representatives correctly pushing back that it is your duty,
it is your obligation to follow legal orders, not to
question them, not to think for yourselves. I'd never served

(05:12):
in the military. I have talked to many who have.
I have great respect, admiration, adulation for those who do
who have. But what I know is that when you
go through basic training, you're broken down. They have to
form a unit, a machine with pistons firing on all cylinders,
without any rogue elements thinking they've got a better idea

(05:35):
than their commanding officer. This is like military one on
one discipline duty following orders. Now, it's not just oh,
that could Nazi Germany what they said at Nuremberg, Well
that was just following orders. Well, when you're ordered to
exterminate six million Jewish women children, I mean that's an

(05:57):
obvious one. If you're being asked to commit war crimes,
that would be an obvious one. That only two examples
that Representative Crow could cite and even somewhat modern American history,
was one of the ongoing fiascos in Vietnam under Lyndon
Baines Johnson some sixty years ago nearly and Abu Grabe,

(06:22):
which took place twenty odd years ago when Crow was
serving as an Army ranger during the George W. Bush administration.
But when pressed on the details as to which orders
President Trump is given that should be disobeyed that are
illegal inherently, he could not come up with an example.
He would not come up with an example why because
he knew it would be a lie. And you really

(06:44):
have to parse through the language carefully in order to
analyze exactly what the meat of the matter is. Reminder,
this is what the Democrats said in that horrid video
from early last week, about a week ago today.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
I think I'm Senator Alissa Sackin.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
Mark Kelly, Representative Chris Stiluzioso, Land.

Speaker 7 (07:04):
Your Representative Chrissy Hulahan, Congressman Jason Crowe.

Speaker 8 (07:07):
I was a captain in the United States.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Navy, former CIA officer, former Navy, former paratrooper and Army ranger.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Former intelligence officer, former Air Force.

Speaker 8 (07:15):
We want to speak directly to members of the military.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
And the intelligence community to take risks each day keep
Americans safe.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
We know you are under enormous stress and pressure. Right now.
Americans trust their military, with that trust.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Is at risk.

Speaker 8 (07:28):
This administration is pitting our uniform military.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
And intelligence community professionals.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Against American citizens.

Speaker 9 (07:35):
Like us.

Speaker 8 (07:36):
You all swore an oath.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
To protect and defend this constitution.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
Right now, threats to our constitution aren't just coming from
a road.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
But from right here at home.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Our laws are clear.

Speaker 8 (07:45):
You can refuse illegal orders.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
You can refuse illegal orders.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
You must refuse illegal orders.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
No one has to carry out orders that violate the
law or our constitution.

Speaker 8 (07:56):
We know this is hard and that it's a difficult
time to be a public say.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
But whether you're serving in the CIA, the Army, or Navy,
the Air.

Speaker 8 (08:03):
Force, your vigilance is critical.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
And know that we have your back, because now more than.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Ever, the American people need you.

Speaker 6 (08:11):
I need you to stand up for our laws, for constitution,
and who we are as Americans.

Speaker 8 (08:16):
Don't give up.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
Don't give up. Don't give up.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Don't give up the ship.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Now shut up. The more I hear that, the more
I think about again, are enlisted service members in the
armed forces who undergo that basic training, who put their
lives on the line. Now, every one of those Democrats
you heard has served our country and I'm not going
to denigrate their service, and I'm not going to get
into that game. That's the game that well they serve.
So who are you? You can't criticize. They can say

(08:42):
whatever they want when they're wrong, then yeah, I'm going
to point that out and I'm going to call it out.
And I'm not the only one calling it out. Those
who served in Congress. Those Republicans that you heard called
it out as well. But it's so condescending to those
who serve our country. They already know that what you
just said. Dummies, They don't need to be reminded. And
again that's the kindest interpretation because we know cynically looking

(09:06):
at this through that lens, this was not intended for
those who serve our country. This was political. This was
just show a mess up. We're fighting Trump and we
need to send a dog whistle to anybody inside we're
talking like deep state, certainly so those that are still
embedded in our three letter agencies, within the mass bureaucracies

(09:27):
in Washington that are working to undermine President Trump and
his agenda for which he was duly elected by an
electoral college landslide by the voice of the people, even
though it doesn't count. The election the popular vote gave
him a mandate doesn't matter because Democrats know better than us.
Even when they're in the minority, even when they've lost elections,
when these very issues were on the table and decided

(09:49):
by the voters, they don't care. Will the people be damned.
They are morally superior to you, and that's what they
feel about you. They have great contempt for you. Here's
Rick Grennell with Maria Barni Romo on Fox Business Network
putting voice to that very thing that I just stated there.
He's a former member of the Trump administration.

Speaker 10 (10:09):
This video that the Democrat elected officials are doing now
is a call to arms to try to get the
last remaining few people within the intelligence community, within the bureaucracy.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
To stand up and fight.

Speaker 10 (10:23):
I think it is an outrageous video. We should call
it out constantly. What they're trying to do is mount
an insurrection from within.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
That's right, and President Trump is right to be.

Speaker 10 (10:34):
Extremely angry, and I hope that John Radcliffe and Tulca
Gabbard understand that they've got to dig deep now to
figure out how do we stop any of these leaks
that are clearly going to.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Become revisiting what Margaret Brennan set up for Jason crow
especially if you're just tuning in, but it's worth a
second listen. So again, Republican members of Congress who have
served in our military issuing this video, and uodo's full
Marx to Margaret Brennan for playing this right in front
of Jason Crowe's face.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Let's get to the content of what you had in
that video you released, because there are also fifteen House
Republicans who are also veterans who released a video, including
a retired three star Marine Corps General Jack Bergman.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Take a listen to this.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Troops, listen up. Any service member.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Who refuses a lawful order is subject to Part Marshall
for violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
We study what's lawful and what's not lawful, and the
Democrats stunt insinuating that their illegal or unconstitutional orders.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
It's downright dangerous. It is corrosive.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
It is meant to weaken our country and weaken the.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Military correct Now, Representative Crow, Senator Slapkin, Senator Kelley, and
those other clowns that nobody knows but those three we
know Crow, especially here, it is incumbent upon them to
provide specific examples. You have put our military personnel in
the very precarious and difficult position of having to sort
through and analyze every single order they've been given in

(12:05):
to think, to question it, to doubt their commander in chief,
to question the authority, moral and otherwise of our Secretary
of War Pete Hegseith in every general and superior officer
that ranks down below that you've done that. Representative Crow,
what evidence do you have and what do you have

(12:26):
to say about these Republicans who served that issued the
counter video to yours. Listen to his mealy mouth the answer,
how do you.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Respond to these allegations from your colleagues fellow veterans that
what you have put out there is weakening and corrosive
to the military.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
Well, these, unfortunately are some of Trump's core supporters that
are rallying behind the president, and they know better.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
They know exactly the.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
Difference between lawful versus unlawful.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
We are very clear in the video you don't need
They don't need your reminder. Who are you, bro, They've
been trained. Do you trust they're training or not? Now
you're going back in there and you're meddling. You're trying
to muddy the waters. They don't need you. You don't
matter that much. With all due respect, And I say
that with all due respect tall Dagan knit style. That

(13:12):
means I can say whatever I want after that.

Speaker 6 (13:14):
Or talking about is unlawful orders. You have the president's
spokesperson going on into a press conference this past week
and saying that we called for people to disobey lawful orders.
They're simply lying because the truth is unacceptable to them.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
It's unacceptable.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
We wanted to start a conversation and we did about
a dangerous rhetoric this president is using and the threats
that he's made.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Those are not orders. I don't care what rhetoric he uses,
threats he makes, private conversations he has behind closed doors,
until or unless the President of the United States, as
commander in chief, gives an order on the books, on
the record to be followed. That's where you come in.
Representative Crow, not the scuttle, but not to hearsay, not

(14:05):
idle conversations does not matter. President Trump uses rhetoric, he
ratchets it up. He talks about turning Moscow into glass.
He talks about turning Beijing in the glass. It's a
verbal technique of negotiation with dictator thugs around the world.
And here's the thing. It works. It works because they
look at Donald Trump as a strong man, not a

(14:27):
weak stick like Joe Biden. Nobody's taking any liberties militarily
with President Trump, and if they do, they pay a
price like Iran did with their nuclear sites. He's very
precise about this. He's decisive, he's clear, he's strong. Those
types of leaders in the world on that stage are respected,

(14:49):
and yes, they are feared in a good way by
our adversaries.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
You clown to use our military in an unlawful way
because well, troops into Chicago, send troops into polling stations,
kill terrorists, families, arrest and execute, arrest and execute members
of Congress.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
As Margaret Brennan just said, there your very talent. If
you were listening carefully. He hasn't done any of this.
He hasn't done any of this. Has he talked about it,
has he threatened it, has he held a press conference.
Has he given an answer to reporter? Uh huh? Sure?
Is that a military order by the commander in chief?
It is not. He knows that, or he should know that.

(15:29):
If he doesn't know that, he's even dumber than I
thought he was. And I think he's pretty dumb, extremely dumb.
And don't forget this one.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
So are you saying that there was not necessarily any
particular precipitating event.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
There is no specific thing out there that made you
decide now was the right time.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
To be clear, we are not calling on folks right
now to debate to disobey any type of unlawful order.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Okay, actually, that's exactly what you did. And then you
didn't cite any specifics, and then you and then you
backpedaled with that crap. Here's Alysta Slotkin. Let's see if
she can do better. She was asked by Kristin Welker
of Meet the Press much the same question. So let's
talk right now.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Do you believe President Trump has issued any illegal orders?
To my knowledge, I am not aware of things that
are illegal, but certainly there are some legal gymnastics that
are going on with these Caribbean strikes and everything related
to Venezuela.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
You, Senator are projecting. You are executing verbal gymnastics to
get around this. Did he order the code red? She
even used that reference from a few good men in correction,
that's Martha Radditt's ABC News. But it's Radits, it's Brennan,
it's Kristin Welker. They are all holding these Democrats, thank goodness,

(16:47):
to account for their words. And these senators, these House members,
they cannot back it up. Joe Scarborough even got in
on this, and before he got wrong, he got very right.
He's been doing this little little bit lately. And this
is on ms NOW as it's called instead of MSNBC.

Speaker 11 (17:04):
Okay, wrong answer, Well, I'm sorry, with all due respect,
wrong answer.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
All due respect.

Speaker 11 (17:09):
President of United States, the commander in chief does have
Jonathan Omeir white latitude.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
That's correct, just does, and the Senate can take that up.

Speaker 11 (17:19):
But he has white latitude on strikes as Barack Obama
and drone strikes.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Ask George W. Bush and drone strikes.

Speaker 11 (17:27):
But where we know the President has said I am
going to give illegal orders the people in the military.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
Where is when he was on Air Force one?

Speaker 4 (17:37):
That's not in order?

Speaker 11 (17:38):
Coming back I forget where he was coming back from.
But he said, I can send the Marines, I can
send the Army, I can send the Air Force, I
can send the Coast Guard.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Into any city.

Speaker 11 (17:50):
I want to control crime, and the courts can't do
anything about it.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
That's illegal. This is illegal. He hasn't done that. Can
say it again. Those who don't speak Trump, and all
of us should at this point. The man's been in
politics for ten years. He's now in his second term
as president. He uses bombastic, over the top rhetoric so
that he's over the mark, and then he acts accordingly.
He can send the National Guard in there. In fact,

(18:17):
the Supreme Court of the United States just reinforced his
power to do exactly that. Now the other branches of
the military. Joe, You're not wrong. If, in fact he
issued an order specifically stating that Army, Air Force, Navy,
Marines would go into Chicago, New Orleans, Nashville, wherever and
try to lay down the law militarily, then martial law

(18:42):
being instituted. That is a question open one for the
powers that be that serves as a check and balance
against the president of the United States. However, as Joe
pointed out, correctly in the first half of what he said.
Any president in our lifetime or even going back, can
authorize a military strike. They don't need the author of
Congress unless there's a formal declaration of war. That is

(19:04):
the only responsibility the commander head in chief has to
our Congress. He cannot declare war by himself by FIAT.
That's it. A timeout your texts and more straight ahead
on Ryan Schuling live all right here we are. It's
a short week right before Thanksgiving, and most of us
out here and I hope it's true for you, we'll
have both Thursday and Friday off, or at least that

Thursday to give thanks be to friends and family, celebrate
that holiday. And what I'm thankful for is that I
got to meet the good people at Trajan Wealth and
get my wealth building and retirement planning finally lined up.
I've been putting it off. I knew I had to
do it. I knew I didn't have the answers. I
just didn't know the route to get to where I

(19:46):
needed to go. And Trajan Wealth showed me exactly that.
When I met with Trajan Wealth. This was back in June.
Now I got straight talk. That's all I asked for
and not a sales pitch. I don't want that, and
neither do.

Speaker 12 (19:59):
You.

Jason Mikeself is a third generation Colorado on and is
running for Colorado governor. He has been a public servant
for over a quarter of a century and currently he's
the Sheriff of tele Comptee. He owns both small and
large businesses and understands clearly the economic danger Colorado isn't today.
He feels it's completely inexcusable that we have allowed Colorado

(21:30):
to become dangerous, unaffordable, and frankly unrecognizable. His policies will
bring Coloradoans together, not divide them. He's in favor of
laws that will fix problems, and he will veto laws.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
That impact our freedoms.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
He is a compassionate and effective leader and will work
collaboratively with all of those who want Colorado to once
again be the example it once was. Join with the
sheriff and successful businessman Jason Mikeself and.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Saying I want my Colorado back.

Speaker 7 (22:04):
We go to Mike's elfoorgov dot com for more information.

Speaker 12 (22:09):
I'm Jason mike Sel, and I approved this message and
he joins.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Us now on Ryan Schuling Live back here Live with
the Sheriff of Teller County, Jason mike Sel, who reached
out to us. We always appreciate those candidates for governor
who willing to come on the program. And Jason, to
your credit, you called me up and I couldn't be
happier to talk to you. Thanks for taking the time.

Speaker 12 (22:31):
Well, thanks, Ryan, I really appreciate coming on the air
and talking to you.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Now, when I look at Colorado, I look at it
just the same way you did. In fact, in that
video which people could only hear, there's a shot of
you playing football in nineteen eighty five and it looks
like you're about the same exact age as I am.
So you have those sensibilities from gen X, but you
also likely remember a much different Colorado than we've been
experiencing over these last ten fifteen years. And there's no

(22:54):
question in my mind that the state needs a new sheriff.
But I'm thinking, like you know, wild West Old West
type times in which crime has run completely a muck
in our state and certainly in the city of Denver.
From your law enforcement perspective, Sheriff, what has gone wrong
in Colorado and why has it gone so wrong?

Speaker 12 (23:14):
Well, I think it's because we're becoming a failed state.
We look, we're putting, we're victimizing victims. Even worse, we're
not holding people accountable for the crimes they've committed. We're
reducing laws where we need to be enforcing laws, and
it's become an epidemic. We've become unsafe, unrecognizable, unaffordable. And
why do we want to reinforce a failure of the

(23:35):
last fifteen years by putting people back in office that's
going to make it worse for the working class?

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Call Id want his website once again. Mike soel m
I k E like the name Mike scll cell the
number four govgov dot com candidate for governor in a
very crowded field. I want to ask you about that
part of it, Sheriff, because it can be kind of
differ difficult to separate yourself from the pack. What makes
you stand out? What makes you unique in terms of

(24:00):
as your messaging and who are you reaching with that
messaging when you look at the field of nearly twenty
candidates I believe it is now on the GOP side.
How would you explain that for our listeners about what
makes you stand out?

Speaker 12 (24:12):
Well, I think there's a lot of things, but I
think it's experience, right, experience in business being able to
drive economy. The second piece is understanding that you know,
we're one of the most unsafe states in the United
States now in sexual assaults on women, child you know,
issues and just so many problems, and you need somebody
that understands how to deal with that, how to build coalitions,

(24:33):
how to get people together. And you know, we do
have a really a large amount of people running for office,
and a lot of those folks, I don't even know
why they're runing. I'll be quite honest. I think really
at this point people have to start or start stepping
down because it's so crowded. People don't know who to
vote for, who to look at. It's just inundated, and

(24:55):
a lot of these guys, I'll be quite honest, I
don't know that they want to win a race. They
just want to have their new is the governor's candidate.
And what it's doing is it's shrinking our ability to
win elections because donors don't know who to donate to
because they think it's a circus, and right now it
kind of is a circus. You have everything from people
selling snake oil and issues that I just I don't

(25:17):
understand the biggest thing for me is I appeal to
I think the working class folks that are unaffiliated heaps,
people that are, you know, the understand the issues and
what really needs to help Colorado. So my hope is
that Coloradoan's come out and vote for me to help
them do those things. Because right now the field is
it's way too crowded. But I think I'm the only

(25:39):
one that can actually win an election when it comes
down to unaffiliated independent voters with Republicans.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
He is Taylor County Sheriff Jason Michzel. He joins us
as a candidate for governor on the Republican side. Now,
Taylor County is beautiful Sheriff. I wish all of Colorado
looked like Taylor County, and I wish we had a
sheriff like you in it. I mean, we have Shriff
Darren Weekley and Doug co great guy, great sheriff. Same
with Sheriff Steve Ringsweld County. Same with yourself. But one

(26:06):
of the criticism that might be aimed your way when
you hear it from the mainstream media is, look, Taylor
County only has just our twenty five thousand people in it,
and of Colorado's nearly six million population. That is less
than one half of one percent. So how you can
project what you would do for the state of Colorado
from what is being done in Teler County. How do

(26:26):
you bridge that gap? How do you convince somebody that
thinks there just aren't enough people that you've been responsible
for as sheriff.

Speaker 12 (26:33):
Well, look at it this way. How many other candidates
in the field have been responsible for anybody but themselves?
I think when you start looking at candidates and backgrounds.
So I'm a proven leader. So I go to Denver,
I find legislation. I understand where the Second Amendments at,
I know what our Constitution says. I understand with economies
because economy especially. Been a business owner, you deal with

(26:53):
international issues, you deal with state issues. You don't just
deal with local economy issues. And here's the big thing
about Colorado. I would much rather looked at an area
that is successful in its economy in really what the
county does. Even though the state's in its a serious predicament.
For all the problems that they are happening right now,
Teler County has been a standout because we are still

(27:16):
putting food in our food banks. We are doing that locally,
we're bridging the gaps coming together. But I think for
Teller County we're really kind of the center that Colorado.
We've been this tip the spear for a lot of
different issues. I have those relationships throughout the state, and
we just all have to remember some all politics are local,
So it doesn't matter you're big or small, They're all
the same issues. You're just dealing at a different level.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Sure if Jason Mikeslil joining us from Teler County, a
candidate for governor on the Republican side. One of the
things that's really been stuck in my craw from the
law enforcement perspective and the crime that's run out of
control here in the Dever metro where I live, sheriff,
and that is this absolute ridiculous competency law that has
been passed in which a defender could walk in, go shrink, shopping,

(28:01):
find a psychiatrist, say you're not mentally capable of standing
trial or facing charges, and therefore the charges are thrown out.
And we've seen the example, I'm sure you're familiar with it.
Solomon Gallagan right here in Aurora try to kidnap a
fifth grader off an elementary school, playground, broad daylight, middle
of school, registered sex offender in Pueblo. But because of

(28:21):
this competency loophole, And I might add, one of your opponents,
if not more, voted for it, and I like her.
But Senator Barb Kirkmeyer voted for this competency compromise with
the pro criminal Democratic Party. Could you give us your
analysis of that law loophole here in the state of Colorado,
how dangerous it is, dangerous it is, and why any

(28:43):
Republican would have supported it and not vehemently opposed it.

Speaker 12 (28:47):
Well, here's the biggest issue I see with it, and
I'm dealing with it now right with our core cases.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
What do you do with these people?

Speaker 12 (28:54):
Once they commit these crimes, they go through a competency hearing,
they're shown not competent, so then they send them to
a puiblo which is twenty three hundred beds behind or short.
So then they get sent back to local facilities. They
get to reduce sentence because of it, because they can't
they can't take them anywhere, so they don't know where
to put them. So a lot of times these folks
will eventually be released because of it. And the biggest

(29:16):
problem we have is that we're then throwing them back
out on the streets. They don't know how to interact
with society whatsoever. If they if they have had that
issue or they faked it enough to where they get
released back into the community to really harass the victims
that have already been victimized by them. And that's part
of the problem we're seeing is that we have so
much recidivism, so much crime that is occurring over and

(29:38):
over and over because of these loopholes that have been
legislated in But here's the problem with all across Colorado
and legislation because the Republicans have been so short with
legislatures there, they're having to try to make deals because
it's going to go through any ways, so they try
to make the best deal possible, where sometimes I think
it'd be best to go ahead and let it burn
itself down and let it get overturned later on. And

(30:00):
if you make these sometimes partial deals, you're hurting it
for a lot longer. Is that law is going to
stay because people aren't seeing the extent of how damaging
it really is. If that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
It does. Jason Mike Sell, the Taylor County sheriff who's
a candidate for governor. Joining us here on Ryan Schuling
Live now. Sheriff Mike sel I believe that if people
get to know your story, you have a very well
rounded resume, both in law enforcement, We've talked a lot
about that, but also in business. I think your challenge
is going to be getting the word out, name recognition,
cutting through the clutter the white noise of all these

(30:32):
different candidates. We talked about that earlier. But what is
your plan to kind of meet and great get to
know the voters of Colorado. I'm sure a show like
this one will help, but that you can raise that
name profile. And I know that's not your sole purpose
in doing this, as you allege maybe some other candidates
are doing, but in order to get in front of
the voters so they feel comfortable voting for you.

Speaker 12 (30:53):
Well, I think you're absolutely right right, You've got to
get out there. So for the last six months, I've
been driving all of Colorado. I think I probably hit
pretty much every location in Colorado so far, and we'll
continuing to do that. So I'm on the road, you know,
I'll go to work in the mornings lead later in
the afternoons, go somewhere, come back way I can be
back to work at out somewhere else the next day.

(31:14):
So I'm usually on the road in the evenings, sometimes
right around six days a week. And then I'm doing
podcasts through the Slide at Gunshop podcast and the Second
Amendment Crew podcast. So I've been on through the Gates
for Dan Gates.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
So I'm on all these.

Speaker 12 (31:28):
Different podcasters across the state of Colorado, hitting different areas
and blocks, because the problem is in Colorado is that
if you just work on just the GOP side, just
the Republican side, you never get to the unaffiliated independence
and those are the voters you've got to pull. So
we are meeting with multiple types of groups everywhere, and
we've done a really good job of it. We're getting

(31:49):
out quite a bit. The Denver area. It's a harder
media area, right, so big media. That's a hard way
to push an election anymore. But we learned from a
lot of other past elections. You got to go radio,
and you got to do podcasts, and you got to
get out and meet and greet. That's how you get done.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
You're doing all of that for sure, sure, which is
final point here. For you to make and that is
obviously we've talked about crime, the quality of life depreciating
here in Colorado. Meanwhile, the cost of living affordability a
big issue. That's a big word now nationally as well
as here in Colorado and especially locally here in the
Denver metro. But what would you say would be another
top issue for you that you're hearing from your travels

(32:27):
throughout the state that you feel needs to be a
focus in this campaign.

Speaker 12 (32:31):
Well, I think a lot of it stems on economy.
Right we're one point four billion dollars in debt. It's
going to get bigger this next year. It's understanding how
to roll back the issues where Denver is forcing so
many different pieces of red tape on businesses to where
they can't compete anymore. And what I mean by that
is this is if you go down to the Coroado

(32:51):
Department of Motor Vehicle or your county clerk and you
go to get license plates, and if you're a Daily,
you're going to get one hundred dollars fine for that vehicle.
I call it the daily eight dollars short builds. The
other issues, too, is is we find out all across
the state of Colorado, that people aren't able to make
it anymore because the fine fees, all the different things.
At Colorado's assessing we're actually one of the top find

(33:13):
and feed state in the United States. We are dealing
with that on a daily basis. So when a struggling
family's trying to get to attainable housing, because I know
that Democrats want to talk about affordable which that's more
towards governmental type housing situations, low income housing, we really
want to make it where we get attainable housing. And
attainable housing is being able to reduce the cost of

(33:33):
housing so that families can actually purchase homes. And to
do that, you've got to drive down costs, which means
we need to be a self producer in Colorado, not
allow other people to have to be shipping stuff in
so much towards taking away our productivity and our businesses
and our jobs. We've lost over a thousand businesses this year.
We're driving out businesses. Water rights is a big one

(33:55):
for this state for the agricultural community needs to be
pulled into and we need to bring back oil and
gas and all of our different nuclear energy options so
that we have an energy stable Colorado because everybody's talking
about wanting to build these this big infrastructure for data centers.
So you can't do that unless you have energy, and
you have plenty of energy, and you have water to
cool with systems.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
So all those things we have.

Speaker 12 (34:16):
To keep in Colorado instead of send them down the
road all the time.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
One last question from a listener. Sheriff tuned in, and
this is important to a lot of people out there.
Are you going to go through the caucusing process at
the assembly to get on the ballot or are you
collecting signatures to get through into the primary? Or are
you doing both?

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Now?

Speaker 12 (34:34):
I'm doing the assembly process, Okay. I find that that
is the way that we need to do things through
the Republican Party, and I believe it's the correct way.
So I will be going through the Assembly process.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
Okay. Good to know, and you can find out more

for governor in the GOP primary, joining us here on
Ryan Schuling Live today. Thank you so much for your time.
Great talking to you, and we'll do it again soon.

Speaker 12 (35:03):
You two, Ryan, you take care, you.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
Bet a time out your thoughts reaction to the sheriff
and his candidacy for governor after this via tax five
seven seventy three nine on Ryan schuling life, I or
President Trump have ignored the Constitution or disregarded the rule
of law. Me never, pat Donald Trump all the time.

(35:27):
Really yesterday morning, three times a week, yesterday, last night,
today afternoon.

Speaker 10 (35:32):
No.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
I know Governor Polis. We heard there has very deep pocket,
is very wealthy man. Congratulations to him, but he's cruising
for a bruising with this deceptive editing, obviously taken out
of context, slanderous in nature, suggesting that Donald Trump and
those clips confirms that he violates ignores the Constitution. Again,

(35:54):
just imagine how stupid Jared Polis thinks you are. He
looks at He was such contempt and disdain. You are
not even gum on the bottom of his shoe. He
wouldn't associate with you in public if his life depended
on it. He really dislikes Colorado's and that shows. And

(36:14):
he's not very funny. He's a nerd, but not the
fun kind of like not like Revenge of the Nerds, Like, Oh,
those guys are funny, Landa Landa Lamb. No, No, he
wouldn't even get into lambda lambda lambda, because he's not funny,
he's not original. Oh, I can't wait till he's gone.
He's just the worst, the worst. And we got a

(36:35):
text along those lines, Ryan, he's done it again. Jared
Poulos has taking another step towards ruining Colorado entirely. Today
he signed a bill legalizing buying lottery tickets with a
credit card. What how could you justify that? Oh, I'm
good for it. Put on a credit card, I'm glad
you glad we played Hey you Tuesday for a Hamburger today,

(36:56):
as though there's not enough people already who charge up
their credit cards and then just declare bankruptcy. Now anyone
can buy lottery tickets to develop a gambling addiction, or
to feed a gambling addiction on their way to becoming homeless.
What madness? And I hadn't seen that. I'm just reading
the text here, maybe Zach and I look for confirmation
that that that does sound insane. You should not be

(37:16):
able to buy lottery tickets on a credit card. I
mean let's encourage degenerate gambling by having them put it
on a credit card. Now, stay tuned, Alicia Witt very
talented Christmins album coming up next
