Good morning. It is Saturday,May six, twenty twenty three, and
this is Saturday morning, Open phoneson news radio six ten WTVN. My
name is Bob Randolph Ella and masterControl handling producer duties and rubbing the sleep
out of her eyes this morning,as we take your calls at eight two
one WTVN or one eight hundred sixtyten WTVN. All right, breaking news

(00:39):
this morning. There was a shootingin the Short North Theory that happened around
about two forty five this morning.Police are investigating. Several blocks of High
Street are shut down. Basically HighStreet from Second Street or Second all the
way down to the Convention Center isblocked off. It's blocked off in a
couple blocks each way, so alot of that is in other words,

(01:03):
don't try to go down through thereright now, you're not going to make
it through. Just saying ABC sixis there on site. We've been following
their news all morning, and againwe don't have a whole lot of information
on a Police are expected to updatesoon. They said that multiple shots were
fired. There's obviously canines involved. They're looking for bullets and that kind of

(01:25):
stuff in the street. They're collectingevidence. So it is a very large
police presence this morning in the ShortNorth area as they investigate that. As
we learn more, we will letyou know. All right, Today it
is international I'm on board with thisInternational No Diet Day. But then you
back that up with National Fitness Day. I'm not sure how the two correlates,

(01:49):
but it's all on the same day. It is Free Comic Book Day,
yes, like that, National BeverageDay, National Homebrewed Day. I
guess that goes along with National BeverageDay, National Nurses Day, Thank you
to the nurses. And it willbe the one hundred and forty ninth running
of the Kentucky Derby. Today itis Kentucky Derby Day as well. All

(02:14):
right. It's in sports Reds theywere on the losing score of five four
against the White Sox. The Guardiansgot blanked by the Twins two to nothing.
Clippers dropped the game and Huntington yesterdaytwo to one. They'll be there
again tonight five o five pm.A couple of other things that you might
want to be aware of over theweekend. Ohio Dominican is having their commencement.
Os US commencement is tomorrow as well, and well, the world got

(02:38):
a few more veterinarians this weekend asOSU Veterinarian School they did their hooding oath
and hooding ceremony yesterday, So congratulationsall of them, and Carle, congratulations
to you as well. I knowjust how much work goes into becoming a
vet, and God bless you peoplebecause you work with the animals. And
I will snakes. I won't workand say hate snakes, but dogs.

(03:00):
Give me all the dogs. Iwill take all the dogs. Eight two
one WTVN one eight hundred and sixten WTVN. If you would like to
be on the show, let's goto the Legacy Retirement Group dot com phone
lines and David, you're on sixten WTVN. Good morning, sir,
Good morning Bob, and Superman saystay fit and don't eat too much off

(03:20):
a diet. You gotta be thatway. But I know you mentioned free
comic book. Yeah, well youknow I'm a big comic book call yes
you are, and uh and Ievery time they have that, and Son's
brought me some money too over theyears. But when I was a boy,
I always read Sergeant Fairy and SergeantRock and they've really influenced me to

(03:43):
be a ranger because damn guys nevergot wounded in their comics and they could
win the war by themselves. Soso it kind of influenced. But but
then again it really helps. Iuse it sometimes help kids learn how to
read too, So it works outgood for the comic book. So,
and you can get rich if youown the right one. Uh oh,
absolutely you can't. About a coupleof Spider Man number one brought over eight

(04:08):
hundred thousand dollars just a couple ofweeks ago. So and that was the
one you had, right, Yes, it drinks a big bucks. No.
Then on the serious side, there, I've been ill. Uh all
these shootings happening in Columbus lately.I don't understand it. And you can

(04:28):
have gun laws, you can haveall this stuff. You got to take
the criminal off the street. It'sit's not the weapon. And I keep
and all these gun controlled people keeptalking about it and until we really have
that way, Bob, I thinkthat's the only way we're ever going to
stop it. How do you feelthat of fissue? You know, I

(04:49):
mean, I'm a Second Amendment guy. I've got my concealed Carrie permit.
Uh It's one of those things whereyou're right, the criminals do to be
taken off the street because if it'snot the gun. I mean, I
have an AAR fifteen that I own. I os also own a three o
eight rifle. Ioso own a twentytwo rifle. I think there might even

(05:12):
be a pellet gun at my house. I'm I'm not sure. My dad's
given me some stuff over the yearsto get out of his house. You
know, I've got a couple ofpistols. None of them, none of
those those particular items have done anythingbad to anybody. Now, I also
have a responsible gun owner. I'ma high very much an advocate of being
a responsible gun owner. If you'vegot them, you keep them locked up,

(05:35):
or you keep them under a triggerguard or that kind of stuff.
You mean, have them accessible.I get it, you need those accessible,
but you also have to be responsible. Some of these laws that they're
trying to pass are just it's purecontrol, there's no two ways about it.
Like this whole thing that that Columbusdid. You know you can't have
a thirty clip magazine really, whatI mean, what's the difference if I

(05:58):
if I shoot somebody with in rightshoot somebody with thirty what's the difference.
I mean, it's I mean,seriously, it's it's that kind of lunacy
that says, oh, if weeliminate thirty clip round or thirty round clips,
we're gonna make the streets safer. No, all it takes is one
to be honest, Yeah, it'sgonna it's gonna take one shot to do

(06:21):
damage. So until you get theelement, nobody's afraid of the law.
That's the whole thing. I mean, these people who get released and they
get put in no either no bailor low bail or just you know whatever,
it is their own recognizance, andthey've been there four or five or
six or ten times. That isthe That is the problem. It's not

(06:44):
the it's not the weapon. AndI can tell you right now, I
don't mind background checks. I've gonethrough mine. I mean, my fingerprints
are on file with the Ohio BCI. I've done all the lawful things that
I have been asked to do,and I think most gun owners have.
When you I mean, it's it'snot only is it a right, but
it is a responsibility. And that'swhat a lot of people forget about.

(07:06):
We have the responsibility to do certainthings when we have those rights. I
don't mind the background check. Idon't mind all of that stuff. Now
it should it be exceptionally hard.Should you have to provide a blood sample
and you know, give them yourfirst born? Absolutely not. But I
don't mind going you want to checkmy background to make sure that I'm allowed
to have a weapon, sure,go for it. I'm okay with that.

(07:29):
I think everybody should be okay withthat, because that is how we
keep the folks who shouldn't be onwho shouldn't have a firearm, say somebody
who's been through a mental episode thathas had that documented. And that's the
other key part of that documented.Because again, we can't just say,
oh, well, I think myneighbors a little bit nuts, because if

(07:49):
that was the case, then I'dprobably fall onto that list. But you
know, you can't just say myneighbors nuts, he shouldn't have a gun.
That kind of law is ad becausethen it's well, I'm mad at
you. I'm going to report youjust because I don't want you to have
a weapon. Oh that you broughtsome good points there too, And this

(08:09):
is what gets me about that.Uh, And people want to think at
all these things, and and Igotta say one thing about my weapons.
I do a lot of hunting, and I defended the country and you it
just part of our thing, Aaron, and I think it's always going to
be up in the air and thatand everything. And then I got a

(08:31):
ring up for And there's other callers. Well they're celebrating Prince Charlie becoming king
today. Yes, well here's myopinion. I remember watching the Rolling Stones
in concert dinner. Would see PrinceCharlie, okay in our cartoon guy,
you know, I couldn't laugh.George jets and turns eighty one today,

(08:52):
holy count. Yeah, and hestill has that flying car and we don't.
I'm so waiting on my flying car. Hey, Bob, you have
an underwarrful Saturday. We'll talk toyou next a week, all right,
David, Thank you. As always. If you get your car going fast
enough, you hit off a rampand you go over like the edge of
a cliff, you'll have a flyingcar too. It just it won't go

(09:13):
straight up, it'll go straight down. I'll tell you what. Let's go
ahead. Well, we'll take abreak and we'll come back to it.
Nick you'll be up next on SaturdayMorning Open Phones on News Radio six ten
WTVN. Saturday Morning Open Phones onNews Radio six ten WTVN. My name

(09:35):
is Bob Randolph behind the glass overthere in Master Control LA handling producer duties
this morning. Your calls are comingin at eight two one WTVN or one
eight hundred and six ten WTVN.And every now and then we get some
calls of folks who don't necessarily wantto go on the air, and that's
perfectly fine. That's perfectly fine ifyou don't want to do that, we

(09:56):
appreciate the call regardless. You canalways hit me up on socials. You
can find me on Facebook at BobBrandolph Radio on Facebook or at Bob Brandolph
WTVN on Twitter. So if youever want to get a hold of me
that way, by all means, please do look forward to interacting with you
that way as well. Eight twoone WTVN, want eight hundred and six

(10:18):
ten WTVN. Let's go to Nick. You're on sixten WTVN. Good morning
Nick, Good morning Bob, Thanksfor taking the culture thing say. I
want to comment on Chuck Baldwin syndicatedcolumn from April twenty seventh, It's called
America's pulpits under indictment. Let theadjustments begin, and he starts off.

(10:39):
He says, to say that America'spulpits are failing is an extreme understatement.
They are not just failing, They'refailing miserably. He says, for decades,
I've been saying that America's principal problemsare spiritual, not political. The
results from George Barner's latest research proveit once again. And he says,
since the COVID nineteen pandemic began attwenty twenty, fewer born again Christians and
I'll say that Jesus lived as endlesslife during his time on Earth, and

(11:01):
church attendance has dropped by some fifteenmillion people weekly, and a new study
from the Cultural Research Center at ArizonaChristian University shows and then he lists some
of these core of views that percentageshave fallen, and he says that the
impact of COVID nineteen has been significant. And they said during the three years
of the phony COVID pandemic, enormousnumbers of born again Christians completely abandoned core

(11:26):
biblical doctrines. And he says America'spastors had not sufficiently taught sound doctrine.
He says, the vast majority ofpastors totally capitulated their so called convictions to
a COVID based police state and completelysurrendered to an antichrist COVID narrative. And
it is little wonder that whatever faithpeople had going into the COVID fraud was
demolished due to the obvious lack offaith and conviction demonstrated by their so called

(11:48):
Christian leaders. And he concluded bysaying the COVID fraud was a great sifting.
It identified the religious phonies and showedus the freedom phonies. Now my
comments on this is I think it'sall part of the plan to destroy America.
Democrats or Republicans are not going tosave America. And as Pastor Baldwin
Saved stated, our problems are spiritualnot political. We've got we've got to

(12:09):
realize that, and we have toquit being a government during nation and get
back to being a God during nation. And we have to do that immediately.
The chain of command goes God peoplegovernment, not the other way around.
Thanks Bob didn calls falla government, all right, appreciate it, Nick,
Yeah, I believe the Marines. What is it god core country?
I mean, or god country somethingsome of that. But but you know

(12:31):
who's first. Let's go to Dick. You're on six ten WTV. A
good morning, Dick, Good morning. How are you so far? I'm
doing okay. How are you?Oh? Don't you love this weather?
You know? I love when it'snice, absolutely I do. This is
a good well, other than somerain tomorrow, we got a good looking
weekend ahead of us. Oh yeah, yeah, my gosh. Pretty soon

(12:52):
we're gonna have our first harm aday of the year. I'll look forward
to it Memorial Day. Yeah, yeah, we're getting there is a slow
surely, Yeah we are. AndI just wanted to tell you I've been
busy. I joined another group. So I've been going about four or five
days this week playing a lot ofmusic. Oh there you go. Nothing

(13:13):
wrong with that, Nothing wrong withthat. I have a friend that he's
known as Dave. He's a bigReds fan and h he wanted to take
me to one of the games.Maybe I'll get down to see one this
year. I haven't been in years, you know, I haven't been in
years. But well, I don'tthink anybody would blame you, Dick,

(13:35):
I don't want to really go youknow, hey, what did you think
about J. D. Stroud Hewent to the Texans. I was hoping
he'd go to an Ohio team.Uh, you know, I mean the
draft is always weird like that. You want to see guys, you know,
go to to particular teams, butit's it's one of those things where

(13:56):
these guys get drafted to go towhatever team thinks that they can use their
services. Yeah. So, Iyou know, as much as you know,
I want to see certain players goto certain teams or certain players not
go to certain teams, as thecase may be. For me, a
lot of the time, you know, it's it's whatever whoever is the best
fit in the organization. So yousee some really odd pairings. Sometimes you

(14:20):
go, wait a minute, theywent where, And it's that's just the
nature of the draft. It's alwaysbeen that way. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, so yeah.So I've yeah, I've been kind of
busy and enjoying myself, but youknow, I can't wait really too to
the guys do good this year.So I'm I'm leading a pretty good life.

(14:41):
Guys. Hey, there's nothing wrongwith that, Dick. Nothing wrong
with that at all. Well, well listen, I'll talk to you next
week. All right, sounds good, will be here. Eight two one
WTVN. We're one eight hundred andsix ten WTVN. Those are the numbers
that you need. Plenty of linesopen for you right now, so if
you'd like to get in, thisis your opportunity. Saturday Morning Open Phones
will continue after the bottom of thehour. News on News Radio six ten

(15:05):
WUTVN. Saturday Morning Open Phones onNews Radio six ten WTVN. SPOB Randolph
la in the producer chair this morningover in Master Control and your calls are
coming in at eight two one TVone, six ten WTN. Hey.
I don't know if you've heard usmentioned this before, but we need your

(15:30):
help. We need you to textthe letters Am A M to five two
eight eighty six. Why are youdoing that? You may be asking.
It's a great question, and I'vegot a good response for you, Am
Radio. I don't want to sayit's under attack, but manufacturers are trying
to take it out of cars.Now. There are various reasons for that,

(15:54):
and we won't go into all ofthe details, but I want you
to remember this when you up intoyour car, and you need to get
the latest in traffic during the week, So let jump in your car.
Let's say six thirty Boxers on theair. You tune in of course the
sixten wtvn's you turn to us becauseyou turn to us for traffic and weather

(16:15):
because again you know that we're goingto keep you informed on that kind of
stuff. Now, if the automanufacturers have their way, guess what,
you're not going to be able todo that. Now. Again, streaming
is great, it's good stuff, and you can use the iHeart Radio app
to your heart's content to encourage youto do that. I know a lot
of you listen that way and thankyou for that. We appreciate that.

(16:37):
But the fact of the matter is, if you want real time sometimes that's
streaming is a little bit behind, not by much, but a little bit,
but maybe enough to maybe cost youfive or ten minutes going somewhere.
You want real time information. Youwant it as it's happening. You want
to be up to date. Thatis what we do. That is what
the AM side of the radio bringsyou. A lot of times, that's

(17:00):
what we bring you. So wedon't want you to lose access to that
not by any stretch of the imagination. So you text AM to five to
eight eight six, and that isgoing to help. There will be a
series of events that get kicked offfrom that, and that is going to
help us keep AM in cars.Because power goes out your house. What

(17:22):
do you got? You got thecar, right, you can get in
the car and you can listen. And by God, as long as we
if it all breaks loose, aslong as we can all get here,
we will be here for you.We always are, we always will be.
That's just kind of the way thisrolls around this place. So again,
text AM to five two eight eightsix. We want AM in the

(17:44):
cars. We want to keep thatthere right where it belongs, all right,
So do that for me at yourearliest convenience or now, or you
know, whatever floats your boat withthat. Eight two one WTVD one eight
hundred and six ten WTVN. Let'sgo to Bob. You're on six ten
wtv A. Good morning, Bob, good morning, great show you got
today as usual. Uh just Ijust wanted to tell you what last.

(18:10):
It's been a wild ride out here. I finally, after many years,
finally earning when I condiment him,I've finally gotten a place clean and organized.
Oh my work, which is anunbelievable turnaround. But ill, but
I'll tell you it's like it's likeyou say, one of the one of

(18:33):
the problems that we were noticing outthere if you depend upon your commputer problem
with a computer, and this ishuge, ninety percent of the Internet is
pornography ninety percent. And if you'vegot a problem in this area, like

(19:00):
you're thinking about an attractive woman, you're not You're not gonna really think about
you know what your perception of themis. It is an appropriate Nope,
it's not. It is not.And the bottom line is you got to
get rid of that stuff. Yougot to do your research over there at

(19:22):
the library. You got to getrid of these sources of temptation or out
there. But you can shut itdown if it's not in your house.
It's sort of like in your pointingand the excellent called by a Bob Rick
earlier this uh morning. Bottom lineis when you when you go out there

(19:44):
and you're going to a church andyou're not preaching the gospel. Uh,
it's sort of like I think we'rein a whole lot of trouble the Bible
told us we would get there oneday. The Word told us actually absolutely
accurately, what's going to be happeningout here, and things are just getting

(20:08):
worse and worse and worse. Solike they don't want to tell the truth.
They don't preach the gospel. Theyhate the gospel because the gospel,
it's that's salvation now leads to salvationand you're going to get your head on
straight then. But any event, kids, der research, please read the

(20:32):
Bible because we're in an awful lotof trouble right now and it feels like
can you can you trust politician?Yeah there, yes doesn't mean yes,
and there doesn't mean no, anduh, we got we got a mess
going on out here. And theanswer is the Gospel. But I just

(20:55):
wanted to think to w a TVNfor an excellent job on this thing.
And like you say, though,we won't go into all those reasons,
why are they trying to shut downHey I'm radio because they want to control
all information. They do not wantyou to have a whole lot of truths

(21:17):
out there, and we know thesix ten to be a TVN does an
excellent job out there. We justwant to thank you for your good service,
Bob, and in any event, thank you for your time every day
and go Buckeyes, go Box.Thank you, Bob. I appreciate the
call, and see I hear.I thought it was just all cat memes
on the internet. That's what Iwas thinking. Anyhow, let's go to

(21:41):
Paul. You're on six ten wTV A Good morning Paul, Good morning
Bob. How are you doing goodso far? How are you my friend?
Good sir? Thank you? Hey, just real quick, a couple
of things. Yeah, and I'veall I say it every every time I
call in. We got we reallygot to cut back on our spending as
a government and maybe even raise taxesa little bit. I wouldn't do it

(22:03):
against small businesses, and I knowpeople don't want to hear it for corporations,
but if it wasn't for small businessand corporations, people wouldn't have jobs
a year, absolutely right on that. And if people didn't have jobs,
you wouldn't have a tax base. And if you didn't have a tax base,
it'd be worse than it is now, which is that we're completely over
the I mean, we're laying debtat the bottom of the cliff. I'm

(22:23):
just trying to I'm trying to raiseyou like Lazarus and take you back to
the town. I heard the otherday, and I haven't really looked into
it quite yet, but I heardthat there's some group that wants to put
on a minimum wage of fifteen dollarsan hour. Well, I mean that's

(22:44):
that's been a mantra for for severalyears now, trying to get the minimum
wage up to fifteen dollars. Well, I just just real quick and then
I'll leave you alone, I promise. And what we do for a living,
it costs the employer twenty five percent. So if you get fifteen dollars
an hour, I have to payyou eighteen seventy five. You don't get
to see that three seventy five. That's just the extra that I have to

(23:07):
pay. Okay, So you takethat time's forty regular forty hour a week
at seven hundred and fifty dollars aweek. That costs the employer thirty nine
thousand dollars. Now for the employee, unfortunately, they get fifteen dollars at
forty that's six hundred a week atthirty one thousand, two hundred dollars.
I only did eighteen percent off thetop. Usually I would tell people twenty,

(23:32):
but we're twenty eighteen. That's fiftysix sixteen. It comes out to
twenty five thousand, five hundred andeighty four dollars a year. Now,
if the employers paying thirty nine thousandand the employees taken home twenty five five
eighty four, got you? Okay? Where in the rats behind does the
other thirteen thousand, four hundred andsixteen dollars go to? I mean,

(23:56):
we know where it goes to.The issue, right, the problem,
the problem I truly have is is, like my grandpa always said, Tommy,
don't get mad. You know,if you can pay taxes a little
bit, that means you're making money. Yeah, yeah, does that make
sense? So we need it.But the federal government, we need to

(24:18):
cut this this. We're out ofcontrol. Brother, And I know I'm
like a broken record sometimes, butwe're just No, you're terrible. You're
right. I mean, if youlook at all the taxes that we pay
on everything, you know, becauseI sit down and I think about this,
especially you know this time of year, after I just wrote a big
check to the I R. S. Well, I did electronically, but

(24:38):
when you sit down and you lookat it, and you go, Okay,
here's what I made, and here'swhat I have left. Here's what
I actually took home. There's somediscrepancies that are there that you that you
start to look at, and oneof them is, here's what I paid
in taxes. But then when youthink about it, Okay, I paid
income tax to the federal government.I paid income tax to the state of

(24:59):
Ohio. I've paid income tax toa couple of localities because of where my
primary job is. This is notmy primary job, but where my primary
job isn't even here. I payto the city of Columbus. I give
them a part of my paycheck becausethey get income. Now, if I'm
in Columbus and I buy something,I pay a sales tax. I pay

(25:19):
a state sales tax, and I'mpretty sure I there may be a local
sales tax. I don't. I'mnot real good on the sales tax stuff.
But you know, I'm paying attax because I'm spending money. God
forbid. You know I paid attax because I made money. You know,
every time we turn around, we'repaying at tax on something or other

(25:41):
for whatever reason that might be.And then we've got the government saying,
well, we don't have enough money. It's not that you don't have enough
money. And I think you'll agreewith this. It's not that you don't
have enough money. It's that youhave a spending problem. Right, that's
the issue that that's the issue thatwe have. And then I mean,
then it's a whole old can ofworms and we don't have time to go

(26:02):
into that today. But it's I'mwith you, man, It's we need
to get things under control. Hey, Bob, that's why I drive a
two thousand and one pickup truck andtwo thousand twenty three corvette. I got
you, all right, Matt,Thanks for call anson, He's certainly appreciated.
A two one WTVN one one hundredsix ten WTVN. If you would

(26:25):
like to jump in, plenty oflines open for you, take a break,
we'll be back at it more Saturdaymorning, open phones on news radio
