It's time for non headline News withScottie and Hannah on the New Mix ninety
nine point five. Oh it isthe extended version of non Headline News.
Hello there, Hi, You readyto delve into some of these stories because
I like the stories we have done. Okay, well, it's the stuff
of nightmares. Really. Oh thisone. If you've ever been sound asleep

(00:24):
and you were startled awake by aloud bang, This happened to me last
night, by the way, likeI really, honest to god, it
did. Yes, it routinely happensto me. So and if you hear
a loud bang and nothing really happened, but it was just in your head,
it's called exploding head syndrome EHS.And the sounds can be anything from

(00:48):
a knock to a crash that youactually made up inside your own head.
Yeah, this is just I alwaysjust thought it was like a dream,
right like, Oh, I justwoke up from a dream and I don't
remember it. But no, thisis my own psyche playing tricks on me.
Yeah. So this is not thatthing where you shake you know,
yeah right right as your phone,But this is actually inside your head a

(01:11):
big explosion. The sleep foundation whodid the study on this, says it
happens during the transition between being asleepand awake. How can you treat it?
Well, you can't. Like sandsin the hourglass, So are the
nightmares of our lives. That's exactlyright. You are going to be having
that for the rest of your life, so just get used to it.
You have them. No, okay, now I have had I've had that

(01:36):
thing that sleep paralysis. Have youever heard of that where you are awake
but you can't move your body?Oh, and I remember it happened to
me. First time was in college, and I remember I was on a
bunk bed. We had bunks, and I remember wanting to ask. I

(01:57):
was trying to call for help.My eyes I could move, but nothing
else would happen. Oh my gosh, that's horrible. I finally said Jesus,
Like I called out to Jesus andsomehow I came out of it.
Oh my, I thought it waslike some demon holding me down. This
is how the Exorcist started. Yeah, you hear these horror stories, but

(02:17):
apparently a sleep paralysis or something likethat, I mean exact title for it,
but happens to other people? Ordo you have the dreams where you
need to scream and you can't scream, and then you wake up trying to
scream and you're still not screaming. Those are the worst. Yeah, it's
probably all connected there because our mindis is freaky scotty. Do we need
to analyze your dream? Yeah?Do you love a good Google search?

(02:38):
Probably? Okay, Delta Airlines, let's talk about these rascals. This is
the one I think I thought youwere originally talking about. It was a
flight from Amsterdam to Detroit and longstory short, from the overhead bin bink
bink? Was there a water bottleleaking bink? No? These marbles falling.

(03:00):
These were maggots. Maggots were fallingfrom the carry on bag above someone's
seat. And they said they wereabout two hours into this flight. They
had to ditch and switch planes andthen do the once over on the plane.
No bueno. They said. Theyfigured out it was some passenger who

(03:23):
had packed rotten fish inappropriate. SoI don't know how you appropriately pack rotten
fish, pack rotten fish, butapparently the the maggots were in there.
I pay attention to the liquid rule. I bring my proper things, I
wear proper outfits. And yet hebecause you know, you got to take

(03:44):
everything off the security, yet hesomehow gets a rotten fish through. Yeah,
and this is where the bigger problemis, I think exactly. Sometimes
I've I've thought that people are eatingthat on the plane. You ever have
people bring on yes, snacks, snack and it's some cuisine that reeks.
Yes, even like a sack ofMcDonald's. It's like, must you because

(04:04):
that's a spell. You're like,oh, did you bring enough to share?
Yeah? That's more of a Iwant some yes, yeah, instead
of I do not want to beon this flight with you. Okay,
speaking of flights, now, thisis a cool one. Okay. They're
calling it the Path of Totality, and on April eighth there's going to be
a flight and this is also delta. I don't think there's any maggots in

(04:26):
this one, fingers crossed. Butthis is for the solar eclipse, the
complete eclipse it's about to happen, and you get to fly along the path
I guess of the eclipse as it'scompletely blocking out the sun. Cool and
so you get it basically dark thewhole flight if you time it out just
right, which they're planning to doon Delta. No, you have to

(04:46):
wear the special glasses for that, right, Yeah, you still can't look
at it. And obviously weather's notgoing to be an issue because you're above
the clouds when this is going on, which is cool. I just have
this mental imite of like the pilotsputting their glasses on. Oh, literally
in the direct line of it.You know, well, obviously everyone in
the plane is, but yeah,is it going to be better on one
side or the other? Yeah? What that? That sort of thing is

(05:09):
a thing I think about. Butif you're interested, Delta has it.
I think where we look at gosh, I want to say it was like
a couple hundred bucks. It wastwo ninety nine round trip from Austin to
Detroit, which not horrible. Iguess it depends on where you want to
have your vacation and where you live, but I was expecting it to cost
more. Well, if I'm spendingone in one of those, that would
be Austin. Probably I'm just thinkingthat's just me. I haven't hit there's

(05:33):
an image of certain places and Detroit'snot one of those, and I'm sure
it's wonderful. So I've been toDetroit several times. I have cousins who
lived there. I have not seenthe wonderful part of it. However,
I have been told there are someamazing things in Detroit. Is very making
a comeback. This was not theintention of this conversation to rail on Detroit,
Pure Michigan with Tim Allen. Okay, school buses, now you know

(05:58):
something about this. You can't fora family of drivers I do. My
brother drives bus before he goes tohis full time job, drives bus.
Is that the term? Yes,drives bus? That's how you say,
oh, yes, my mom,did my dad, did my grandma,
my uncle? Whole line of them. You came from a whole line of
school my driver. Meanwhile, Ican't back my jeep out of a parking
sice. That's right. So thatwhole thing, that lineage yep ends right

(06:20):
here. Well, there's a busdriver named Larry Fairish, and he is
from Kentucky, and he was onhis normal route and he sees a kid
he sees all the time, namedLevi, but instead of Levi's usual smile,
he was sitting with his jacket overhis head. Okay, so Larry
asked him what was wrong? Andthis first grader explained through tears, he

(06:44):
didn't have pajamas for pajama do ah. So Larry finished his morning routes,
headed to the family dollar store andpurchased two pairs of pajamas for Levi and
headed over to Levi's school to makethings right. Oh, Larry, Levi's
face lit up. He hugged thepjs to his chest and cried happy tears.

(07:06):
Oh. Bus drivers are the best, aren't they. They're the unsung
heroes of the school district. Yeah, and they deal with a lot.
Yeah. I think I've told youthe story of me getting an entire bus
pulled over by the highway patrol becauseI threw an eminem out the window and
I thought I was going to makeit into the little collection basket for the

(07:28):
toll road back in the day.Instead the bus the bus lurched forward and
I hit the toll booth attendant inthe head with an orange peanut eminem.
Not funny, but funny. That'smy story and I'm sticking to it.
Okay, you have a family, what story comes immediately to your mind?
So my dad one time was subbus driving on my best friend's route and

(07:49):
he would come home and he'd complainabout this one kid. He was always
acting out and standing up when heshouldn't and blah blah blah. Didn't put
much thought into it. A coupleof weeks goes by and my dad comes
home and he's got this big inon his face. The kid was standing
up on the bus when he shouldn'thave, and it was the opportune time.
My dad tapped the brakes and thekid fell down, slid down the
aisle of the bus right check, yes, exactly. My Dad's all excited

(08:11):
and I'm like, well, whatdid this kid look like? Because I've
roded that bus before, I knowthe neighborhood. And he's explaining to him.
I go, Dad, is thishim? And it showed him a
picture and he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's that kid.
And that is when I told mydad he was the superintendent's son. And
you just see the light from mydad's eyes. Strain's fun and it was

(08:31):
that serious. My yeah, Dad, that's the kid. Well, I'm
sure the kid didn't fess up toall the wrong he did. Also,
if my dad ever had to havethat conversation with the superintendent, he'd been
like, yeah, it sounds aboutright for my kids. Yeah, yeah,
exactly. Well, there you go, A big nod and just a
salute of appreciation to all those thatdrive bus yes out there in podcast land.

(08:56):
