It's time for non headline News withScotty and Hannah on the New Mix ninety
nine point five. Well, we'reback at at Hannah. It is non
headline news, the extended version.Yes, it is Scotty. You have
to discuss some of the things.Maybe we've talked about him on our radio
show. Perhaps not. Either way, you get the extended version because there
are certain things we can't really getinto fully as we do the show.

(00:25):
Let's start with this airline story whichis terrifying. A Virgin Atlantic flight from
Manchester, England to New York wasgrounded because a passenger noticed, yeah,
there's some bolts missing on the wing. Now he's the guy. Actually,
his name is Phil Hardy. Hesaid he's a good flyer. But my

(00:46):
partner was not loving the information Iwas telling her and started to panic,
as one should go right, andI was trying to put her mind at
rest as much as I could.I thought it was best to mention this
to the flight attendant to be onthe safe. Hey, by the way,
Yeah, so apparently they brought theflight crew, you know, off

(01:07):
the plane. They brought everybody offthe plane. Engineers came on. They
looked at the situation they deemed itwouldn't have been a problem. I don't
understand how this at Like the boltsare missing, right, Yes, So
my friend is an airline mechanic. It's a three step process. So if
he fixes something, he has togo to a coworker who then signs off
on it. That coworker that hasto go to someone else to sign off
on it. Like at some point, no one from whatever airline this was

(01:30):
to be like, hmm, there'sa bolt missing there? Yeah? Is
it like a carnival where they justput things together and take them apart?
And I don't know, maybe theythought this will hold with this many bolts.
That's why I don't go to carnivals, by the way, right,
the airline industry fascinates me as someonewho has multiple friends in the biz.
All the little behind the scenes thingsI know, and like, what else

(01:52):
is happening right now that I don'tknow? Love? Yeah, you know,
well I was. It comes tomind that I'm now respond for this.
I have to get on a planenow, yes, and take a
look at things myself, because apparentlyperhaps they're not checking it as thoroughly as
they should. You know what thesad thing is they're still going to charge
you for that. Oh, no, I should be charging them. I'll

(02:13):
send an invoice for my work there. Okay. Let's get into another weird
story that came out this last coupleof weeks. There's an online pastor.
Okay, he's a wait, anonline pastor. Okay. He's fighting allegations
that he and his wife defrauded parishionersout of millions of dollars in a crypto

(02:34):
currency scheme. His name is EliEli Baker. No, his wife is
Caitlin, and they've been accused oftelling the followers to buy a certain coin.
Okay, and three hundred people gavehim a total of three point two
million. Oh my goodness. Now, the Colorado Securities Division filed civil charges,

(02:58):
saying that well, he used theproceeds to buy things like a range
drover okay, and vacations and ahome remonk, gody, it's what God
wanted. It was God's will.Oh this gets better. Yes. In
a video to the congregation, hesays, out of the one point three
million, half of it went tothe irs. Sure, a few hundred
thousands went to a home remodel. The Lord told us to do and he

(03:20):
goes on to say, we tookGod at his word and see this,
And then he said, either Imisheard God, or God's not done with
this project yet, or you're usingGod as a front. You're like,
gee, how can we take advantageof people? I know, we'll mess
with the big man upstairs. Youdon't do that. You have to admire
his willingness to double down on this. True. This is this is the

(03:44):
new season of the righteous Gemstones. It's coming to max near you. You
never hear that at the end ofa football game. Well we didn't win.
I'm gonna blame God, right, you know they always you always get
the people thanking God. Here's thisguy saying I must have misunderstood. Is
that a credible defense in a courtof law? I misunderstood? Yeah,
like God gave me a wrong message. Yeah yeah, I don't know.

(04:05):
Blame it on God? Probably nota good idea. I wouldn't stand anywhere
near that guy right now. Okay, here's one more involving a religious group.
An Amish family, okay, mindin their own business in Michigan,
go inside a Walmart to do someshopping, come out, their transportation is
gone. Oh no, it's grandtheft buggy and horse. Yes, apparently

(04:33):
the police were able to track thisstolen vehicle down at a hotel nearby.
So did you know I grew upin Amish Country? I did not.
There's an Amish community in central Minnesotathat's kind of around where I'm from,
so it wouldn't be uncommon to,like, especially when I was driving home
from college, you would drive rightthrough the heart of Amish country to be

(04:54):
like, Oh, I'm stuck onHighway ten. Oh, and there's a
horse and buggy in front of me. Is that what it is? Until
they kind of moved over, yes, and like you can pass them.
But I just I find the Amishcommunity fascinating. Were you drawn to it
at all? Because I'm fascinated byit as well, like drawn to become
an Amish person maybe simplify your life, if anything. If I learned anything

(05:15):
from the tim Allen in Christy Allythat classic for richer or poor, I
did not belong in the Amish community, just like Christie Alliy didn't. You
don't want to raise barns, No, I'm good color to the Amish.
I would think, though, ifyou're gonna have to track down a vehicle.
It probably didn't have lowjack or thinkingthat, but it had a very
primal way of tracking something. Ifyou've ever followed a horse at a parade,

(05:38):
you know what I'm talking about. Also, even if for some reason
the horse didn't do that, howare you gonna I'm just gonna hide the
horse and buggy in a parking lotlike it's gonna stick out. Someone might,
your neighbors might notice. Okay,we end with this story because we
just you know, were in thatseason of love. The New Jersey Animal

(05:59):
Shelter is doing something for your ex. Oh okay, this is beautiful.
It's the Homeward Bound Adoption Center inBlackwood, New Jersey. They're hosting neoter
your ex. The donation drive. For fifty dollars, you can name a
feral cat after your ex and thenpay to have that kiddie spade or neutered.
I love this. Some things shouldn'tbreed was the idea, see Scotty.

(06:23):
This is why this is glorious.I love a petty moment. Okay,
I can be a petty person. It's a character flaw. Well,
this is the pettiness. Yes,gets drowned out because you're doing a good
deed. Oh that's a good point. So you are not a petty person.
If you do this, you're justlike I am helping my community be
a better place. So on theif you were doing the scales of justice,
this is an even thing. You'renot putting anything in the bad karmicide.

(06:46):
Because you've given to help a cat, it goes null and void.
You are perfectly fine. Thank you, and enjoy Valentine's Day. Scotty,
you have a question. You'd strayedyour hands comment, it's what the Lord
told me to do. Oh isthat what happened? Unless I misunderstood the
Lord. I'm not going to standanywhere near you either. And that's it
for this edition of Non Headline News, the extended version. I'm Scottie.

(07:08):
That's Hannah. We'll catch you nexttime.
